I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I reinstalled Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and was wondering where I could get the fingerprint reader, bluetooth and thinkvantage drivers for my Thinkpad. I'm not really sure which drivers to get online.

Hello - I'll try to be succinct and cover everything I have tried nbsp I have a T i with Win installed along with all issue suggestions needed please! power - T410 the drivers nbsp It has been working fine T410 power issue - suggestions needed please! but I seem to be experiencing a power issue nbsp This first manifested itself as the screen going blank and refusing to come back on nbsp Thinking it was overheating my partner opened it up and cleaned out the fan my partner fixes Lenovos as a field engineer and applied thermal paste to the processor nbsp All seemed well I was working on it plugged in when suddenly it T410 power issue - suggestions needed please! shut down nbsp I tried to restart it but without success so I left it plugged in with the orange light flashing and went off to have supper nbsp When I came back the orange light was still flashing so I decided to leave it to charge overnight Next morning - orange light still flashing and although it would power up there were odd things going on when I looked in Power Manager nbsp It showed the battery as being good for hours although I knew that if I took the AC adapter out it would close down nbsp So I tried a different known good battery - same thing nbsp Then a different PSU - same thing nbsp On the desktop it shows as charging for half a dozen animations then goes static - Power Manager says it's charging but doesn't display the 'time left to fully charge' and isn't actually charging at all nbsp So - here are the things I've changed and tested at each step nbsp The battery nbsp The PSU trying both w and w - power manager recognises them for what they are but no charging actually happens Hard drive with a fresh install of Win Motherboard Processor Palmrest Memory including using just one in each slot Keyboard nbsp Because motherboards one with nvidia graphics and one Intel both exhibit the same behaviour I am now at a complete loss and the only thing left to change that I can think of is the screen so I might do that while I wait for a response nbsp If I appear to have overlooked anything obvious then please let me know - I'm usually pretty good at figuring things out by a process of troubleshooting but I'm beat this time

I am having trouble getting the built-in wireless adapter on this laptop to get connected to the internet. I have installed the following driver:
but have had no luck. there are no available wireless connections I can connect to.
I have also tried to use USB wireless adapter TP-LINK TL-WN725N to connect to internet. It is able to find available connections but when it tries to connect it says unable to connect and give options to troubleshoot. Once troubleshoot is complete it says to investigate router or access point issues. I have reset the router many times. Other devices are working fine with the internet just not this laptop.
I am running windows 7 64Bit.
Please help.

A:Lenovo Thinkpad T410 wireless issue

Can you connect the laptop to the router using a cable at all ?

using just the laptop wireless adapter
unlikely to be this as it is reporting NO networks available - but check anyway please
Check the wireless is switched ON
theres often a physical switch or a combination of the FN and one of the F keys to toggle the wireless on/off
often F2 is used - but note , not always - look for a symbol that looks a little like (( i ))

is the wireless on?

can we see an ipconfig /all - see how below
do a tcp/ip reset - see how below
post a screen shot of xirrus please - see how below

ipconfig /all

We would like to see the results from an ipconfig /all - post back the results in a reply here.

If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post the results in a reply here.
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file and paste here.

If you do not have another PC - do you have a phone connected to the internet - can you photograph the result and post the image in a reply
Note: you will see entries named Tunnel adapter Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface: we dont need to see that information - JUST the information above those entries

For Windows 8 or Windows 10
To open a Cmd Prompt or an Administrator Cmd prompt from the Desktop.
Use Win + X and choose Command Prompt or Command Prompt (Admin) from the list.
For windows version, XP, Vista, W7

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

ipconfig /all > network.txt & network.txt
It will export the results into notepad and then automatically open the notepad and display on your screen.

Now all you need to do is copy and paste those results into a reply here
to do that:
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Select all
all the text will now be highlighted
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Copy

Now go back to the forum - goto the reply and then right click in the reply box and paste the results.
The results from the notepad should now appear in the forum reply.

Hi, is anyone else experiencing daily video accelerator crashing on T410 Windows 10?  I have two units and they both crash after resuming the display after auto screen turn off.  I have tried all the suggestions online from all over the web and nothing works.  I hope that Lenovo will do something about this.  Or, does anyone know how to stop this annoyance?  Many thanks.

A:T410 Windows 10 Intel Video Driver Crashing

Welcome Gigglez
1. Is your T410 comes with only Intel GPU or both Intel / NVIDIA Optimus?
2. Is your existing drivers installed automatically by Windows or is it downloaded and installed from Lenovo Support?3. You could download and install a newer version of Intel HD Drivers*. Download and install NVIDIA driver also if it comes with it.*As T410 is already more than 5 years old, Intel and Lenovo may not provide supports and newer drivers to match newer version of Windows. If this 3 steps does not resolve your problem, you may have to revert your T410 to Windows 7.

The computer's a year old running XP and my incredibly card slow. mode issue? Driver Safe issue? Video boyfriend and I have no idea what's wrong with it it's his I'd put in hardware support but I don't know which piece of hardware may be corrupted exploding as we speak or what It began last night He's done this before -- he has two monitors one meant for a TV I believe and another old computer screen Normally it runs on the TV one because it's bigger He switched to the older one to show me how he can adjust the settings so that it's all vertical That was great and dandy and we didn't expect any issues He's done it before and it really isn't doing much to the computer Later after midnight he goes to switch everything back to normal First the computer acts like Driver issue? Video card issue? Safe mode incredibly slow. the monitor is there but that it can't do anything -- it tries to go into sleep mode or something Then I suggest he unplug Driver issue? Video card issue? Safe mode incredibly slow. shut down plug things back in normally and power back up This appears to work I was a bit happy then until we got to the XP loading screen It's going and then after it flashes then goes black Nothing comes up nothing does anything And so the three hour saga of last night begins We restart we spam F we get into safe mode he disables Nvidia but can't open the application Nor does his mouse function in safe mode I know some don't but it really doesn't help the situation I've used my laptop to bring up shortcut keys and we're functioning through everything that way He restarts after disabling Nvidia and nothing's different Spam F repeat We go to the device manager and look for any signs of danger He re-enables Nvidia restarts nothing different He tries looking for updates and he tells me that Nvidia doesn't need any nor does anything else in the device manager so far as he can see I'd written down the driver for Nvidia prepared to find any updates online and download it and somehow get it to him since even in safe mode with networking it didn't seem like he could get to the internet He's already started trying things again today but I think he wants to give up and just throw it out which we really can't do This makes no sense either so I refuse to give up until I find out what the heck is wrong with it in the first place Furthermore in safe mode everything is running incredibly slowly I don't know if this is normal since I've never had to do this but I'm talking - minutes between each command sometimes We also could not enter VGA mode for some reason nor are we able to normally boot He went to F and possibly F as well and couldn't find anything there that looked helpful but I just don't know what's going on or where to look because nothing appears to be wrong besides the way that it's acting Please and thank you so much I'll greatly appreciate anyone who can quickly assist and stick around for a little while for our answers as they'll take some time with the speed of the computer right now The Nvidia driver is Nvidia GeForce SE nForce I'm on my laptop if that wasn't clear which is a separate computer

A:Odd memory issue? HD space issue? Also, can't update GPU driver (GW2 crashing)

Unfortunately, though I thought I did, I have no images of the odd cyan/yellow graphics glitch, and I have no way of getting one (google didn't turn up any that looked the same as mine, granted some were similar).
Edit - I also noticed after re-enabling page memory on my primary drive after freeing up some space, that in the error logs, the amount of paged memory in use is for some reason higher. I can't imagine why this is, but maybe I don't understand the process.

It shows two drivers with errors, mobile 4 series express microsoft wddm 1.1.  If I delete them and reboot, they both come back.  The lenovo system update does not recommend a newer video driver, the intel tools don't find it, if I manually download and try to run the win10 one for x64 systems it says it does not meet the minimum system requirements.  Some searching shows it to be a 4500 series type driver so I would think it would have worked.  Any ideas?

Hi all, I have a T410 that's from 2010 with the i5 520m cpu. I bought it used recently and I don't think the bios has ever been upgraded. When I follow the regular instructions of entering BIOS --> Config --> CPU, I saw a menu of four choices. The bottom two wereIntel(R) Virtualization Technology [DISABLED]Intel(R) VT-d Feature [DISABLED]I tried to change them, but strangely the menu only let me navigate through the first two choices (I can't recall them exactly now but they didn't seem to have anything to do with virtualization), nothing seemed to allow me to access the bottom two choices...  How should I go about fixing this properly?  I want to be very careful with upgrading/flashing BIOS as I really don't want to end up with a brick Thanks

A:Enabling Intel VT-x in a T410

Look for your BIOS Version and post it(You can find it on the start page of your BIOS)VT-x is supported by your CPU, but maybe there are conflicting settings..Maybe you really have to update the BIOS but that shouldn't be a real problem...Use a disk image, hook your thinkpad to the power and let it be for 20 minutes or so...

The only thing I did not so long after I got it was to upgrade to 8 GB of memory and an SSD disk. So it have been working great for many years. No it's started turning it self of sometimes while I use it. The scan showed result code: WMEBVVBTH-WL8BRF Also see the log attached. Is the memory starting to go bad or is it the Windows? Current OS is Windows 7 and is the one that came with the system.
System is 3 or 4 years old.

The BSODs seem to occur during heavy browser usage. Having multiple tabs opened and switching back and forth between tabs, the browser, and desktop apps. But almost always (if not always), when I am in a browser window.

Hi everyone,
Need a new laptop for my computer science degree, considered quite a few. Was just wondering if anyone has an oppinion on the Lenovo ThinkPad T410 2516, I would upgrade it as follows:
i5-460m processor
windows 7 home premium 64
320GB 7200rpm hard drive
9 cell battery
Anyone think i should upgrade it differently, I'd like to get it a little cheaper so where if anywhere should i make the cuts in upgrades?
Has anyone got this laptop? is it particularly heavy to carry around?

About two weeks ago, I began getting BSODs on a 9 month old ThinkPad T410 running Win Professional 7x64, OEM. This is the original install of the OS, and there have been no recent hardware changes. Prior to this issue, the machine has performed without any failures.

Today's failure happened quite spontaneously (or so it seemed to me) while the ThinkPad was sitting unattended and unused for about 15 minutes.

Thanks very much for your assistance.

Have been trying to upgrade my T410 running Win7 SP1 64bit  from 2x2GB to 2x4GB RAM (KVR13S9S8/4, Kingston ValueRAM 4GB SO-DIMM, 204Pin, DDR3-1333MHz, 4GB, DDR-1333 (PC3-10600), CL9, 204-Pin) but Windows doesn't start with this memory. The weird thing is that the PC boots and i can enter the BIOS and can see the 8GB installed, but Windows 7 hangs at the startup screen and never comes up. I first thought of defect in RAM and have requested replacement from vendor, but same issue with new RAM modules. Any idea why this is? Tx

Hello there,I wanted to get all my data from my old Thinkpad T410, so I took out the SSD which was installed in it and connected it to my newer Computer. The problem is that my new bought Computer did not recognize the drive at all, so I tested the drive externally on my Thinkpad and this doesn't recognize it either nor will it boot from it when it is connected via USB. I tested the drive on Windows, Linux and MacOS, there are no problems with my external connector, my Thinkpad boots without problems from other USB-Drives and the drives work internally without any problems. On Linux, the drives are detected but not mountable and not formatable... I hope someone has an answer to this problem

A friend dropped off a T410 system. Windows is flakey and locks up after about 5 minutes. Ran the HD test program in the BIOS. It finished but gave me a bunch of 0000 Read verification errors though the controller tested fine. What I'd like to do is format the Windows partition and re-install. But I don't have Windows disks (there is a COA sticker for Windows 7 Home Premium 64). Can I build a set of recovery disks from this system? Even if Windows won't run? Any info would be a great help. Thanks.

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

If you are overclocking STOP
We could also use some system information, which you can get easily by running msinfo32.
To do that go to start>run>type msinfo32>enter

When it is finished running go to file>save>name it and upload to us here.
You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
* OK your way out.
* Reboot if changes have been made.

I'm trying to figure out if the slow performance of my T410 (on certain apps - mainly Firefox and Quicken) could possibly be caused by an overheating problem that I know I have (because I sometimes get a "fan error" on startup, and because it is hotter to the touch that it seems it should be).  My speculation is that maybe the CPU has a temperature monitor, and when the temp gets too high it throttles down the CPU.  Is there any truth to that idea? ~ Thanks in advance~ Ken

A:Can overheating cause slow performance on a T410?

That is true.Your fan error means your fan is running slow, which would hurt cooling

Hi, My T410 would not power on, nothing when pressing the button. It will power up if I remove the cmos battery, plug the power in, unplug, re-connect the cmos battery and then plug the power in, and it works fine then...until it's powered off of course and the cycle begins again. I thought it may be a faulty cmos battery so I have changed that to no avail. Next step is to change the keyboard I guess? the power button seems to do will not power the laptop off etc. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and found a solution before I spend 20 or so on a keyboard off Ebay. Thanks, Terry

Have you tried recalibrating the battery? Open Lenovo Power Manager -> switch to advanced -> Battery -> Battery Maintenance -> Perform Reset. It will take a lot of time to complete, don't remove AC power while this is running. Let it run while you are sleeping or something similar so that you won't have to interrupt the process.

There are ultra bay adapters for the T410, as well as many other T-series laptops so you can install a 2nd hard drive in place of the CD or DVD drive.  I have the adapter and drive but for some reason the computer doesn't recognize the drive in the bay.  You can hear the drive attempt to power on and spin but after it boots there isn't any sign of the drive.  Are there some steps I'm missing, something I need to change?   I just updated to a 240GB SSD, so the 2nd drive is the OEM 250GB HDD it does still have the OS installed, which would be wiped if I could just get the drive to load so I could format it and use it as a storage drive.  I'm running Windows 10 64bit.

Well I just found this forum today, so I decided to ask this question.

About a year ago, I had to system restore, because my computer just kept FSODing on me. When I went through the system restore process with Dell, at the end of the process I got an error. I don't quite remember what it was, as it was so long ago.

Ever since then, my computer has been completely without sound. I have tried everything from installing/reinstalling/uninstalling drivers, to the most simplistic, such as checking if my speakers work, or are connected.

So far, nothing has brought me any closer to figuring out what this problem could be. I am pretty sure that somehow, my sound card (its an integrated one) has just fried or something, but I really dont know.

So... is my sound card busted? Or are my drivers just not working for some reason?

Thanks for your help in advance.

A:Sound Card issue, or driver issue?

System restore . . .

System restore or system recovery? Did wipe the old operating system out and reinstall everything from scratch (system recovery) or did you use Windows' system restore to backdate the configuration. (Frankly, I think the choice these of terms by the industry are very confusing.)

Assuming system recovery and assuming the sound worked before and quit after system recovery, I'm for a misconfiguration. But, the simpler fix might be a cheap add-in sound card.

System information:

- Lenovo T410
- Bought December 2010
- Windows 7 Professional 64-bit OEM
- Hitachi 500 GB hard drive
- NVIDIA NVS 3100m Optimus Graphics 512MB DDR3 with AMT
- 4 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1067MHz SODIMM Memory (2 DIMM) + I installed another 4 GB

I have not reinstalled the OS. The laptop had BSOD's right out of the box. They are unpredictable and occur 1-4 times per day. I disabled the switchable graphics, which seemed to reduce the frequency of the BSODs a little. I've updated the system via Lenovo's System Update tool. I called Lenovo's technical service and they ran through their stock checks and it didn't help.

I've attached the dump and system file collection + system diagnostics.

Thanks for any insight,

I cannot tell if the plastic clips are damaged without close inspection, but it looks like the 2 rubber cups that provide the spring for the buttons are missing.  I have never done very well getting them to attach to the base and I have tried several adhesives.
You can replace the touchpad from the keyboard, but taking it apart is easier the 2nd time and the cable clips are fragile.

Hi and welcome, ssumOfficially, upgrade to the win10 on the T410 isn't supported: win10 reduction matches the source OS.- definitely, Lenovo will not update the win10 drivers for the Intel 6200 itself, it's a deal of the Intel. But as you noticed there are no upgrades too win8/10 manages wireles features from the metro app (Lenovo Settings, and Charms. For metro app some drivers are needed: there are not only win10 incompatible laptop components, but applications also.

In our company we have migrated from Toshiba to Lenovo laptops/tablets.  Recently users have been reporting that their T410 laptops are very very slow.  Most of the time they over estimate the slowness time, but this time it's not.  I checked the device and it takes 4-5 minutes from powering on the device to getting the ctrl+alt+del screen.  In that time, there is a few seconds where the screen goes completely black, then comes back. After logging in, it takes another 5-6 minutes to get to the desktop.  I've checked the Hard Drive, memory, spyware, etc. and everything checks out.  The user states that this only started happening a couple of weeks ago.  He's had the device for about a year. Anyone else noticing this type of slowness and what could be causing this issue? Thanks

What happens if you load a program such as HWInfo32 to ensure that the CPU isn't running too slowly? When running HWInfo32, the CPU speed should match or exceed the adverstised speed of the laptop whenever some program is actively using the CPU.

Good afternoon all,

I have been in the process of making my laptop, a Lenovo Thinkpad T410, a much better device to use. While I've been having HDD issues, my main issue right now is the battery that I had purchased. With the IBM Power Manager software, the battery is listed as a Sanyo 42T4710. It is a 9 cell battery and I will provide any other information you need.

When I had first purchased the device, after charging for awhile the battery icon on the laptop would begin to flash amber. It will not charge to 100%, and usually stops at 96%. With the battery manager, the charge threshold is set to "Always Full Charge (Start when below 96% and end at 100%). I tried to run the battery gauge reset option, however the laptop permanently stayed at 96% and never discharged lower than that.

Are there any recommendations that you can make for what I should do with the battery?

Hey I had this problem a while back and hopefully finally figured it out My computer was freezing at the Issue Driver windows splash screen the loading bar would either stop completely or load very slowly If I got it to boot through power cycling and started playing a game or whatever sometimes the screen would go completely pink or some other color Driver Issue I would still be able to hear music of what have you through my headset I Driver Issue could boot into safe mode so from what people tell me it seems to be a video card driver issue Now I completely removed all the drivers through device manager and used driver cleaner in safe mode to get rid of anything that was missed in the uninstall After that it booted fine and previously before removing the drivers I downloaded the updated ones for the video card from their website and updated the drivers in a clean install But alas it still freezes at the windows splash screen So I am wondering now what can I do It seems to be the video card drivers I don t know if I need a new video card now or if I can circumvent this issue with some other drivers Anyways thanks nbsp

Please try this:

Manual steps to run Chkdsk from My Computer or Windows Explorer

Open My Computer, and then right-click the hard disk that you want to check.
Click Properties, and then click Tools.
Under Error-checking, click Check Now. A dialog box that shows the Check disk options is displayed
Use one of the following procedures:

? To run Chkdsk in read-only mode, click Start.
? To repair errors without scanning the volume for bad sectors, select the Automatically fix file system errors check box, and then click Start. (tick)
? To repair errors, locate bad sectors, and recover readable information, select the Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors check box.

Note If one or more of the files on the hard disk are open, you will receive the following message:

The disk check could not be performed because the disk check utility needs exclusive access to some Windows files on the disk. These files can be accessed by restarting Windows. Do you want to schedule the disk check to occur the next time you restart the computer?Click to expand...

Click Yes to schedule the disk check, and then restart your computer to start the disk check.

Wait until Chkdsk finishes Checking / Repairing any faults
Windows will then either restart your computer or continue loading Normally.

A:Driver issue

Hi bruinator. You post is confusing. Could you describe things a little better?

The usr5699b is a US Robotics PCI Fax Modem, not a graphics card.

You say "Video Cards". Do you have 2? Do you know the Brand and Model number of them?

I just did a fresh clean install of Windows 7 Professional x32 all my specs are on my profile thing. The first thing I did was update my drivers to the newest verified stable version 260.99 I believe for my EVGA GTX 260, Im having trouble changing my resolution. I can change it but the task bar wont adjust. I set it to the highest resolution and I can barely see the top of the task bar. I have a 42" 1080p HDTV using the HDMI connector. The funny thing is changing my resolution worked perfectly until I had to format my hard drive today. I tried using older versions of my video drivers and it still didnt work, should I bother going back further on the drivers or is there something im missing here?

A:Driver Issue?

Right click the desk top in an open area. Then go down list and click Nvidia control panel.

Highlight the monitor or tv if you are using both choose TV. Select the HD resolution you want.
Now if using as a monitor you may have to use a PC resolution- not sure on that.

A monitor hooked up you highlight the monitor and select PC resolution.

I'm not using TV set up but I show a 720 and 1080 option in Nvidia control panel with my GTX460.

I did the older one, 1st, as it is used primarily for hobby things. All went well, no issues, and still none. With that success, I did the Alienware. All seemed fine, at first, but a week or so later, happened to find out I was running on the Intel graphics, not my Nvidia card. When I checked Device Manager, it didn't even list the card.

Did some research, found some very convoluted fix advice, but also some info recommending that one make sure the device had the latest updated drivers. I thought I had checked recently, but decided it was worth checking again.

So restored Win 7, made sure all was normal, and checked the driver. There was a new one, so did the update for it. Re-booted, and did the Win 10 update again. Again, all seemed fine, but 2 weeks later, same problem. So back to Win 7 once more.

Couldn't try the Win 10 update again for a few weeks, early Nov. Checked Invidia again, there was a new driver, did that update.

Another thing I had read regarding the Win 10 update, was to not do anything with the computer for about 15 minutes or so, after it says it is done, as it is still working in the background, doing it's own driver updates.

So, did the Win 10 update again, and after the msg saying it was all done, I left the computer on, and ran some errands. Took about 1 hour, came back, and uh oh. The Nvidia card was listed, though it had been the second attempt, as well. But, most of my desktop shortcut icons were MIA. Shut the computer off, booted again, same thing. Also, when at home, I use a larger monitor. When I booted, could not get display to move to the monitor, only had the lappy screen.

So back to 7 again.

Needless to say, I have been hesitant to try the Win 10 update again.

Does all this sound like a graphics card issue? I don't want to miss the free Win 10 update, but each attempt, the results have been worse than the previous.

Hi Jim.

First, let me point you in the direction of our nVidia thread, which has the most current drivers link in the first post, and is constantly updated as necessary. There is a lot of good historical information in that thread, so you might want to have a read through it as well.
Latest NVIDIA GeForce Graphics Drivers for Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums

For upgrading your system, It's recommended that you disconnect all peripherals, uninstall any 3rd-party AV software, remove monitoring software (i.e. Speccy), and run sfc /scannow to make sure all system files are intact. You can also check drivers in Device Manager, right-clicking each one and having Windows auto-check for updates. If sfc /scannow says it's unable to fix corruptions, reboot and run again. Sometimes it can take 3 runs with reboots in-between before thing gets fixed. We're looking for "no integrity violations found" result.

If driver updates do not put the most recent nVidia driver in your W7 system, download the current one to your desktop and have it ready for your W10 upgrade.

Make sure you have a good image of your W7 OS, then download the ISO from MSTechBench, extract to desktop, and run setup.exe to upgrade the system.

You are correct, that the system should be run for a little while after the upgrade, as things are running/updating/indexing in the background after the update.

Once the upgrade is completed, turn off Fast Startup.
Turn System Restore on. Set a restore point.

Once the activity on the C drive has calmed down, do a shutdown/startup (not reboot) or two.
If the nVidia card is working and everything seems fine, connect your external monitor.
If you have video issues, install the latest driver. Make sure everything is working, then connect your external monitor.

Carnal, welcome to the forums.

I would try disabling the KB itself from Device manager. This may or may not be what you tired earlier.

If it is, then Boot into BIOS, and mess with that. There might be a KB disable function.

After installing a windows 7 upgrade on my acer aspire 7535G my powerxpress no longer works - it thinks my onboard HD3200 is primary and my Mobility HD 4570 is powering another display - which it is not.

any ideas how i can swap primary adapters back and get it so it thinks i have only 1 display and to swap between adapters when changing power sources like it used to?

A:Driver issue?

Yes! Go into the BIOS and change the setting there.

Hey guys I got a question.

I am trying to install a Cisco Aironet CB21AG wireless card in a Dell running x64 XP pro. Im running into a driver problem. It is not installing the card. I am able to run the setup program and install the utility, but windows does not install the driver.

I just need more eyes looking for me. I have been trying the cisco site and I havent found anything yet. And I checked the txt file on the CD and it does mention this is for Windows 2000 and XP Pro SP2. Any ideas????

A:x64 XP pro driver issue

Cisco Aironet CB21AG wireless card does not have the proper driver...

the driver that came with the card is probably a 32 bit driver...

and you need a 64 bit driver to run x64 XP pro

I have a Toshiba Canvio ext HDD which up until yesterday was working perfectly on my laptop however suddenly it no longer is recognised. The blue light initially goes on however it stops and is not shown in Windows Expolorer. The same drive still works on other computers. In device manager there is an unknown device of External USB 3.0 which I have tried to update the driver of but get the following message : Windows was unable to install a driver for this device check with the manufacturer. I have checked and as it is a plug & play Toshiba don't have drivers available.

I was checking my drivers for current and found this coprocessor driver error. I've disabled the onboard Nvidia chip for the PCIe BFG GTX260 card, could this be it disabled or something else?

This is the PCI bus 0, device 1, function 3 position and it's being called MSI-Nvidia ram controller. It may be nothing but I've had an ongoing issue with a start up BSOD that when it works through (about 40 clean boot to 60 BSOD before Win 7 log in screen, but music into plays thru speakers. Before I send my mobo back I've tried and tested my Corsair ram, changed out BFG cards, reset bios with battery removal and install, pulled a usb port from my system and such.

A:Can anyone help with this driver issue?

Assembled a PC for a friend using a Foxconn K S GXMG- L SiS GX Mobo I set up Windows XP Pro SP on the system and everything is fine I then get to installing the drivers packaged with the motherboard restarting after each and everything installs perfectly fine However once the VGA driver is installed and I restart the screen is horribly corrupted shrunk into the middle and replicated a number of times over basically the desktop cannot be displayed as it should and is ridiculously unusable Now I m wondering if its a problem with the VGA driver on the CD it being corrupt or if it Issue VGA Driver With is an issue with the monitor this is the second PC I ve built using the Foxconn motherboard and the first had no problems of the likes but I was using a different monitor is there a compatability issue with the Issue With VGA Driver monitor It was a monitor which came packaged with a Hewlett Packard bundle in Looking for a solution the PC isn t going to be used as a gaming machine so will I be fine without the VGA installed Or is the VGA essential and if I want to install it is a new monitor is required nbsp

A:Issue With VGA Driver

If the display before you installed the driver was OK, don't bother with it. As you say, the CD could be flawed or bundled with the wrong drivers so XP has probably sorted out the right ones for you.

Okay if you care about how I acquired this computer read on if not skip to the next paragraph A friend of mine had a quot good quot computer he had laying around and instead of throwing it out he gave it to me having removed the hard drive only Thus I bought a hard drive and installed XP issue Driver Home Edition on it So far it is working fine besides two devices one of which is the main reason I have an interest in the computer at all an S-Video output through Driver issue a video card and the other is a USB wireless card Okay first off the video card Windows XP seems to have the drivers necessary to run the VGA output so the moniter works however the S-Video does not EDIT The Moniter is being output from the Motherboard thus I cannot be sure if that device is functional at all In running System Information for Windows this is the Device ID PCI VEN DEV SUBSYS REV FEB E and here is the status x Has Problem I m only assuming it is a driver issue but I have no idea what the company is nor the item number on forum searches on other sites I could gather it is a Via Arena product from the VEN Meanwhile the other device - it is functional with a wire so its really an extra but still something handy to have It is a wireless card connected via an internal USB plug The only way I can connect these two to each other is because that is the only USB device I have plugged in at the moment and the System Information for Windows gives this Device ID USB VID FDPID E and here is the status x Has Problem Besides these two items everything on this computer is working as it should according to System Information for Windows anyway I just need to know where to get the drivers for these devices so I can install them I am using Windows XP Home Edition fresh install nbsp

g'day i just bought a comp on ebay 2gig p4 and i formatted and loaded xp pro everything worked fine except no drivers were found for ethernet, audio, vga
so i put a drivers disc i had when i built my comp 2.4 gig p4 anyway i'll spare you the details for now
so i put the disc in told windows through device manager to update the drivers for the yellow problems and it automatically found drivers on this disc which it loaded and everything seems to be working fine should i search for better ones when i get on the net [i havent got a modem in it yet] or not worry about it thanks

A:driver issue

You used a different disc and the WORKED? Yer the MAN.

Yes, search the motherboard or OEM Mfr for updated and correct drivers. But heck, if it's working, there's certainly no hurry. You might encounter an unexpected problem later--so it's advisable to install the correct drivers.

Hi All,

I have a packard bell easynote r4 series r4622 which came preloaded with windows Vista. I recently installed XP and I have several drivers missing. I have been able to install them all except the Video Card Driver for the (chip: ati technologies radeon xpress 200m rs410).

I am quite a novice at this type of thing, but i have searched online for the past few days and download several drivers and catalysts(?), without any joy.

Does anyone know how i may go about obtaining this driver? I seen a few sites that advise that they have it, but it will cost $2.99. I don't mind paying this, however i wouldn't be confident that it was even the correct driver.

As i am new to the site, I hope that i have posted this in the correct place.

Any help that you can give would be gratefully appreciated.
