I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

If you are overclocking STOP
We could also use some system information, which you can get easily by running msinfo32.
To do that go to start>run>type msinfo32>enter

When it is finished running go to file>save>name it and upload to us here.
You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
* OK your way out.
* Reboot if changes have been made.

I have been getting regularly occurring BSODs with various errors. Looking for help please.
The dump output from BSOD program and performance monitor data are attached.

The system is:
Lenovo T410
Current OS is Windows 7 and is the one that came with the system.
System is 3 or 4 years old.

The BSODs seem to occur during heavy browser usage. Having multiple tabs opened and switching back and forth between tabs, the browser, and desktop apps. But almost always (if not always), when I am in a browser window.

System information:

- Lenovo T410
- Bought December 2010
- Windows 7 Professional 64-bit OEM
- Hitachi 500 GB hard drive
- NVIDIA NVS 3100m Optimus Graphics 512MB DDR3 with AMT
- 4 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1067MHz SODIMM Memory (2 DIMM) + I installed another 4 GB

I have not reinstalled the OS. The laptop had BSOD's right out of the box. They are unpredictable and occur 1-4 times per day. I disabled the switchable graphics, which seemed to reduce the frequency of the BSODs a little. I've updated the system via Lenovo's System Update tool. I called Lenovo's technical service and they ran through their stock checks and it didn't help.

I've attached the dump and system file collection + system diagnostics.

Thanks for any insight,

Hi davevoyageur and Welcome.

For a stable set up your Ram should ideally be matched. Same Manufacturer. Type. Model. Size. Batch. Timings. Etc..
Have you tried uninstalling the one stick and seeing if the blue screens continue?

Hi everyone,
Need a new laptop for my computer science degree, considered quite a few. Was just wondering if anyone has an oppinion on the Lenovo ThinkPad T410 2516, I would upgrade it as follows:
i5-460m processor
windows 7 home premium 64
320GB 7200rpm hard drive
9 cell battery
Anyone think i should upgrade it differently, I'd like to get it a little cheaper so where if anywhere should i make the cuts in upgrades?
Has anyone got this laptop? is it particularly heavy to carry around?

I am having trouble getting the built-in wireless adapter on this laptop to get connected to the internet. I have installed the following driver:
but have had no luck. there are no available wireless connections I can connect to.
I have also tried to use USB wireless adapter TP-LINK TL-WN725N to connect to internet. It is able to find available connections but when it tries to connect it says unable to connect and give options to troubleshoot. Once troubleshoot is complete it says to investigate router or access point issues. I have reset the router many times. Other devices are working fine with the internet just not this laptop.
I am running windows 7 64Bit.
Please help.

using just the laptop wireless adapter
unlikely to be this as it is reporting NO networks available - but check anyway please
Check the wireless is switched ON
theres often a physical switch or a combination of the FN and one of the F keys to toggle the wireless on/off
often F2 is used - but note , not always - look for a symbol that looks a little like (( i ))

is the wireless on?

Recently my T410 laptop has had issues with charging the battery, the battery is plugged in and not charging.I have attempted updating the firmware for the battery, it failes half way through as the battery cannot be not identified. The lenovo power mannager does not resolve the issue either as it cannot detect the battery. Any advice on diagnostics or resolutions would be greatly appreciated, as after contacting lenovo support, they simply told me to replace the battery. Which I am happy to do but only as a last resort.

In our company we have migrated from Toshiba to Lenovo laptops/tablets.  Recently users have been reporting that their T410 laptops are very very slow.  Most of the time they over estimate the slowness time, but this time it's not.  I checked the device and it takes 4-5 minutes from powering on the device to getting the ctrl+alt+del screen.  In that time, there is a few seconds where the screen goes completely black, then comes back. After logging in, it takes another 5-6 minutes to get to the desktop.  I've checked the Hard Drive, memory, spyware, etc. and everything checks out.  The user states that this only started happening a couple of weeks ago.  He's had the device for about a year. Anyone else noticing this type of slowness and what could be causing this issue? Thanks

What happens if you load a program such as HWInfo32 to ensure that the CPU isn't running too slowly? When running HWInfo32, the CPU speed should match or exceed the adverstised speed of the laptop whenever some program is actively using the CPU.

Good afternoon all,

I have been in the process of making my laptop, a Lenovo Thinkpad T410, a much better device to use. While I've been having HDD issues, my main issue right now is the battery that I had purchased. With the IBM Power Manager software, the battery is listed as a Sanyo 42T4710. It is a 9 cell battery and I will provide any other information you need.

When I had first purchased the device, after charging for awhile the battery icon on the laptop would begin to flash amber. It will not charge to 100%, and usually stops at 96%. With the battery manager, the charge threshold is set to "Always Full Charge (Start when below 96% and end at 100%). I tried to run the battery gauge reset option, however the laptop permanently stayed at 96% and never discharged lower than that.

Are there any recommendations that you can make for what I should do with the battery?

A:I can't Solve my BSOD, consistant Bugcheck 'A'

Based on the BSOD and logs please do the below...

1. All BSOD refer to like you said Bugcheck A which in all the dump files refer to a nt!ExpScanGeneralLookasideList ..thats the Lookaside list used by the drivers (or in this case it could very well be the storage class driver ) for paging purposes....

You also have backup and VSS errors to partition D:\ (or the WDC WD5001AALS-00L3B2 Device)..

So disable the backup and volume shadow services and

Then do a chdsk first as well as use crystaldiskinfo to post snapshot of the SMART value for this drive..

Hardware wise I have cleaned, checked and reinstalled all my memory, performed multiple extensive Disk and memory checks and found no issues.

How many passes did you do for the memtest... and what extensive disk check have you done

2. Please remove Avanquest fix it and Trusteer and Device Dr Pro completely (not sure why do you use these !! )

3. Remove printkey 2000... You would anyway have to run this in compatibility mode. Try using the snippet tool in Win7 or other third party tool like Snagit etc

4. Remove Trendmicro and use MSE ( Microsoft Security Essential)

5. Update you ATI integrated graphics driver to 12.6

6. Please update or reinstall your itunes software.. There were lots of task scheduler errors caused by Bonjour

Do these and let me know how it goes

Marvell Yukon service is having issues. Please:
- download a fresh copy of the Marvell Yukon network driver from the manufacturer's website

You have a 802.11 USB Wireless LAN Card - Win7 doesn't like these devices, especially when coupled with older (Vista era) drivers. Here's my rant on this:

I do not recommend using wireless USB devices. Especially in Win7 systems.
These wireless USB devices have many issues with Win7 - and using Vista drivers with them is almost sure to cause a BSOD.
Should you want to keep using these devices, be sure to have Win7 drivers - DO NOT use Vista drivers!!!
An installable wireless PCI/PCIe card that's plugged into your motherboard is much more robust, reliable, and powerful.

Your drivers for this device date from 2009.

We've seen a number of BSOD issues with SSD's. Here's the information that I've compiled so far:

There's not a whole bunch available to test SSD's. The "easiest" test is to remove the SSD, install a platter-based hard drive, install Windows and test for stability that way.

Here's some suggestions:
- Update the SSD's firmware to the latest available version (VERY IMPORTANT!!!)
- Update the motherboard controllers drivers to the latest available version from the controller manufacturer (NOT the mobo manufacturer unless you can't find any on the controller manufacturer's website)
- Slow the memory (RAM) down to the next slower speed (I've only seen one person who claimed that this worked for them).
- Use any manufacturer's utilities that you may have. If you don't have any, then try this free one (I haven't used it myself): Crystal Dew World
- Update chipset and storage controller drivers to the latest available from the manufacturer of the device (not the manufacturer of the motherboard). Be sure to update ALL controllers on the motherboard!
....NOTE: Recently (Nov 2011) we had BSOD issues with the Marvell 91xx controller and an SSD. You may have to switch controllers also.
- Replace the SSD with a platter based hard drive and see if that stops the BSOD's. If it does, then it's likely that there's a problem with the SSD OR an incompatibility with your system.
It's my opinion that SSD's aren't reliable enough (with current hardware) to be used on a system that needs to work reliably. Until I see reliability I will not recommend, nor will I use, SSD's for critical applications.

If it doesn't fix the errors, feel free to reinstall it once the system is stabilized.

Hello everyone. First post on the forums. Basically I have a problem with some BSOD going on. Not too tech savvy so bare with me.

Basically it started when I was trying to stream World of Warcraft. It has been happening a lot more lately while I just have say World of Warcraft open and I'll be browsing through Youtube or some random forums. The only thing I could think of was my PSU was just too weak. It is 460watts. I just used SF diagnostic tool that was recommended here in the forums for people who get BSODs. Attached is a file of the the whole " dump files ". If I can help with any more information, please let me know. Thank you very much!

Edit: The error I was able to catch during the BSOD read " Worker thread returned at bad IRQL "

As of late as in the past month since I re-installed windows ultimate x I have been receiving frequent BSOD's sometimes multiple per day mostly during gaming and other hardware intensive programs as well as random times on youtube Now I've sort have tolerated them lately as I am constantly doing my best to try and get to the bottom of them with each new BSOD I've ran multiple tests such as memtest 0xc0000005 programs, error often BSOD's random during Consistant chkdsk scans with Malwarebytes keeping all my drivers up to date deleting known BSOD causing drivers and I have still haven't found anything abnormal that could be causing the situation so that leads me to my final option before reinstalling windows again and I would like to ask for a bit of help on this one as I know there is some very knowledgeable people here on these forums Also if this is any help as well I initially was running Rogers Internet Protection towards the beginning of the BSOD's and I have switched to MSE instead but with no prevail as far as stopping the BSOD's Any help would Consistant BSOD's during random programs, often error 0xc0000005 be greatly appreciated and I have attached the dump files etc -Kyle

A:Consistant BSOD's during random programs, often error 0xc0000005

Based upon experience your problem is due to hardware. Before that testing lets go with what the dmp reports suggest, drivers
Prior to the test, update your video card, since it was mentioned more then once in the many dmp files that you have submittel
Driver Verifier
I'd suggest that you first backup your data and then make sure you've got access to another computer so you can contact us if problems arise. Then make a System Restore point (so you can restore the system using the Vista/Windows 7 Startup Repair feature).

In Windows 7 you can make a Startup Repair disk by going to Start....All Programs...Maintenance...Create a System Repair Disc - with Windows Vista you'll have to use your installation disk or the "Repair your computer" option at the top of the Safe Mode menu .

Then, here's the procedure:
- Go to Start and type in "verifier" (without the quotes) and press Enter
- Select "Create custom settings (for code developers)" and click "Next"
- Select "Select individual settings from a full list" and click "Next"
- Select everything EXCEPT FOR "Low Resource Simulation" and click "Next"
- Select "Select driver names from a list" and click "Next"
Then select all drivers NOT provided by Microsoft and click "Next"
- Select "Finish" on the next page.

Reboot the system and wait for it to crash to the Blue Screen. Continue to use your system normally, and if you know what causes the crash, do that repeatedly. The objective here is to get the system to crash because Driver Verifier is stressing the drivers out. If it doesn't crash for you, then let it run for at least 36 hours of continuous operation (an estimate on my part).

If you can't get into Windows because it crashes too soon, try it in Safe Mode.
If you can't get into Safe Mode, try using System Restore from your installation DVD to set the system back to the previous restore point that you created.

First I'd suggest a bootable hard drive diagnostic to rule out any issues with the drive itself.Download the Hitachi Drive Fitness Test from this link:'ll want the CD Image. You'll need a program to burn an ISO image to a CD - if you don't have one, post back and we'll recommend some free alternatives.Once the ISO image is burned to the CD, the CD will be bootable.Insert it in the drive, and reboot the system. Press F12 to access the boot menu in order to boot from the CD.There's more detail in the Drive Fitness Test Users Guide link on the same page.

I have searched but can't seem to find an answer to this. Is there a way to have your program windows open in the same spot and at the same size all the time? For example, I like to work with internet explorer open on the left side of my 21 inch widescreen monitor and have windows explorer open on the right. I know I can drag each to their respective sides and they will automatically snap to the half screen positions but is there a way to set this position automatically?

About 2 days ago, I restarted my computer because it occasionally gets slow after I leave it on. The first 20~ minutes using the computer is fine but after that, everything I do( such as opening folders or trying to go to properties etc), it either freezes or becomes unresponsive. I've done Rkill, AdwCleaner, and ComboFix but nothing works ;/

I would be happy to focus on the many others who are waiting in line for assistance. Please perform all steps in the order they are listed in each set of instructions. Some steps may be a bit complicated. If things are not clear, be sure to stop and let me know. We need to work on this together with confidence. Please copy and paste all logs into your post unless directed otherwise. Please do not re-run any programs I suggest. If you encounter problems simply stop and tell me.When you post your reply, use the button instead. In the upper right hand corner of the topic you will see the button. Click on this then choose Immediate E-Mail notification and then Proceed and you will be sent an email once I have posted a response. If you do not reply to your topic after 5 days we assume it has been abandoned and I will close it.When your computer is clean I will alert you of such. I will also provide for you detailed information about how you can combat future infections.I would like to remind you to make no further changes to your computer unless I direct you to do so.===================================================Now that I am assisting you, you can expect that I will be very responsive to your situation. If you are able, I would request you check this thread at least once per day so that we can try to resolve your issues effectively and efficiently. A friend of mine's pc is constantly dinging and donging... I thought it was the microsoft antispyware program was the culprit, but I've uninstalled and reinstalled it and it happened in both situations. Is there any way to figure out what app is causing the sounds? I checked the event log for some kind of errors or something, but I didn't see anything...

a little more info... the sounds are those that you would here when you plug in a device such as a usb or firewire device and the system "found new hardware".

Any help would be greatly appreciated of course.

We just recently finished building a FREAKING FAST computer for a friend of mine (spent about 3 grand on this thing so it's nice). We spent weeks shopping around to make sure we were getting good and compatable parts for the best prices possible. The computer runs well but there is one problem. The audio and video during media playback slows and then speeds up back to normal every couple of minutes. It's an equal amount of time when it happens. Games run teriffic and everything else runs teriffic. As I said, this only happens durring audio or video playback. If anyone has heard of this happening or has any suggestions we would appreciate the help. Thanks.

I am at consistant Programs to fail open, screen blue my wits end with this problem On and off for the past several weeks my HP desktop computer has been exhibiting a strange bug where no programs will open Clicking a link on a taskbar desktop or Start menu shows the related program opening onto the taskbar briefly and fading out with no explanation This computer has multiple accounts and each account except for mine will run perfectly normally during this time Additionally attempts to fix it previously have utterly failed and rebooting the computer had the possibility of a blue screen when Windows started up In the past this issue has appeared without cause and resolved itself after several hours of inactivity This time though it seems a little worse Every other Programs fail to open, consistant blue screen time I reboot my computer I can guarantee a blue screen will appear on startup saying that crucial files have been Programs fail to open, consistant blue screen affected The next time I do there is no blue screen but my account will have the typical issue If I run startup repair I get a minute wait before it says it simply cannot do anything to fix my computer and leaves it at that I can run the computer in safe mode which is what I'm doing now My first instinct was to run MalwareBytes and CCleaner but neither found or identified anything worthwhile I am fairly confident that I can use the Registry as I have done so successfully on a few occasions in the past so if this is possibly registry based I could manually do this If there is hope please respond I would appreciate any and all help Thanks

Hello, welcome to SevenForums!

Nothing shown as far as processes go, and you have a 109* critical structure corruption bugcheck for one of the two dumps, so it's most likely hardware related, usually memory of hard drive.

I would recommend running Memtest to ensure your memory isn't faulty.

Check your hard drive for any errors as well with chkdsk:

Open the "Computer" window
Right-click on the drive in question
Select the "Tools" tab
In the Error-checking area, click <Check Now>.
Drivers in need of update:

LVUSBS64.sys - LVUSBS64 Thu Oct 11 21:39:40 2007 (Logitech Camera driver). Update here.

I did a hardware scan on my computer and it showed me a hardware problem with the memory. The computer have been working fine for many years now. The only thing I did not so long after I got it was to upgrade to 8 GB of memory and an SSD disk. So it have been working great for many years. No it's started turning it self of sometimes while I use it. The scan showed result code: WMEBVVBTH-WL8BRF Also see the log attached. Is the memory starting to go bad or is it the Windows? The computer is upgraded to Windows 10 a few months back.

At the end of the day when I close my laptop, the display will turn off but sometimes the system won't go into sleep mode. I then have to open the lid again and completely shut down the system. Is there an easy way to fix this?

Hi all, I have a T410 that's from 2010 with the i5 520m cpu. I bought it used recently and I don't think the bios has ever been upgraded. When I follow the regular instructions of entering BIOS --> Config --> CPU, I saw a menu of four choices. The bottom two wereIntel(R) Virtualization Technology [DISABLED]Intel(R) VT-d Feature [DISABLED]I tried to change them, but strangely the menu only let me navigate through the first two choices (I can't recall them exactly now but they didn't seem to have anything to do with virtualization), nothing seemed to allow me to access the bottom two choices...  How should I go about fixing this properly?  I want to be very careful with upgrading/flashing BIOS as I really don't want to end up with a brick Thanks

A:Enabling Intel VT-x in a T410

Look for your BIOS Version and post it(You can find it on the start page of your BIOS)VT-x is supported by your CPU, but maybe there are conflicting settings..Maybe you really have to update the BIOS but that shouldn't be a real problem...Use a disk image, hook your thinkpad to the power and let it be for 20 minutes or so...

I'm trying to figure out if the slow performance of my T410 (on certain apps - mainly Firefox and Quicken) could possibly be caused by an overheating problem that I know I have (because I sometimes get a "fan error" on startup, and because it is hotter to the touch that it seems it should be).  My speculation is that maybe the CPU has a temperature monitor, and when the temp gets too high it throttles down the CPU.  Is there any truth to that idea? ~ Thanks in advance~ Ken

A:Can overheating cause slow performance on a T410?

That is true.Your fan error means your fan is running slow, which would hurt cooling

There are ultra bay adapters for the T410, as well as many other T-series laptops so you can install a 2nd hard drive in place of the CD or DVD drive.  I have the adapter and drive but for some reason the computer doesn't recognize the drive in the bay.  You can hear the drive attempt to power on and spin but after it boots there isn't any sign of the drive.  Are there some steps I'm missing, something I need to change?   I just updated to a 240GB SSD, so the 2nd drive is the OEM 250GB HDD it does still have the OS installed, which would be wiped if I could just get the drive to load so I could format it and use it as a storage drive.  I'm running Windows 10 64bit.

Hello there,I wanted to get all my data from my old Thinkpad T410, so I took out the SSD which was installed in it and connected it to my newer Computer. The problem is that my new bought Computer did not recognize the drive at all, so I tested the drive externally on my Thinkpad and this doesn't recognize it either nor will it boot from it when it is connected via USB. I tested the drive on Windows, Linux and MacOS, there are no problems with my external connector, my Thinkpad boots without problems from other USB-Drives and the drives work internally without any problems. On Linux, the drives are detected but not mountable and not formatable... I hope someone has an answer to this problem

A friend dropped off a T410 system. Windows is flakey and locks up after about 5 minutes. Ran the HD test program in the BIOS. It finished but gave me a bunch of 0000 Read verification errors though the controller tested fine. What I'd like to do is format the Windows partition and re-install. But I don't have Windows disks (there is a COA sticker for Windows 7 Home Premium 64). Can I build a set of recovery disks from this system? Even if Windows won't run? Any info would be a great help. Hi, My T410 would not power on, nothing when pressing the button. It will power up if I remove the cmos battery, plug the power in, unplug, re-connect the cmos battery and then plug the power in, and it works fine then...until it's powered off of course and the cycle begins again. I thought it may be a faulty cmos battery so I have changed that to no avail. Next step is to change the keyboard I guess? the power button seems to do will not power the laptop off etc. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and found a solution before I spend 20 or so on a keyboard off Ebay. Thanks, Terry

Have you tried recalibrating the battery? Open Lenovo Power Manager -> switch to advanced -> Battery -> Battery Maintenance -> Perform Reset. It will take a lot of time to complete, don't remove AC power while this is running. Let it run while you are sleeping or something similar so that you won't have to interrupt the process.

About two weeks ago, I began getting BSODs on a 9 month old ThinkPad T410 running Win Professional 7x64, OEM. This is the original install of the OS, and there have been no recent hardware changes. Prior to this issue, the machine has performed without any failures.

Today's failure happened quite spontaneously (or so it seemed to me) while the ThinkPad was sitting unattended and unused for about 15 minutes.

Thanks very much for your assistance.

A:Can you replace t410 front mouse buttons???????

I cannot tell if the plastic clips are damaged without close inspection, but it looks like the 2 rubber cups that provide the spring for the buttons are missing.  I have never done very well getting them to attach to the base and I have tried several adhesives.
You can replace the touchpad from the keyboard, but taking it apart is easier the 2nd time and the cable clips are fragile.

Hi and welcome, ssumOfficially, upgrade to the win10 on the T410 isn't supported: win10 reduction matches the source OS.- definitely, Lenovo will not update the win10 drivers for the Intel 6200 itself, it's a deal of the Intel. But as you noticed there are no upgrades too win8/10 manages wireles features from the metro app (Lenovo Settings, and Charms. For metro app some drivers are needed: there are not only win10 incompatible laptop components, but applications also.

Hello there, My Thinkpad's cursor is having freezing issues after upgrading to win10. When I move the cursor, it once in a while freezes and it's not related to the trackpad or trackpoint. I plugged in an external mouse and had the same problem again. I uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled them, the problem is still there. I really don't know what else to do. I checked all the settings on synaptics, searched the whole internet. Still couldn't have found a solution for it. Here on this link people with Lenovo laptops are having the same issue as well. Will Lenovo solve this problem and maybe put a new driver on the official site? Thank you

Hi, is anyone else experiencing daily video accelerator crashing on T410 Windows 10?  I have two units and they both crash after resuming the display after auto screen turn off.  I have tried all the suggestions online from all over the web and nothing works.  I hope that Lenovo will do something about this.  Or, does anyone know how to stop this annoyance?  Many thanks.

A:T410 Windows 10 Intel Video Driver Crashing

Welcome Gigglez
1. Is your T410 comes with only Intel GPU or both Intel / NVIDIA Optimus?
2. Is your existing drivers installed automatically by Windows or is it downloaded and installed from Lenovo Support?3. You could download and install a newer version of Intel HD Drivers*. Download and install NVIDIA driver also if it comes with it.*As T410 is already more than 5 years old, Intel and Lenovo may not provide supports and newer drivers to match newer version of Windows. If this 3 steps does not resolve your problem, you may have to revert your T410 to Windows 7.
