Mouse: How do I disable Windows drivers?

Q: Mouse: How do I disable Windows drivers?

I have a mouse, the Razer Abyssus, which comes with its own drivers. The default Windows mouse controls seems to be conflicting with the Razer drivers. Both drivers seem to be active, and the settings available in both are similar. For example, I can control the pointer movement speed in my Windows mouse settings and also in my Razer settings. They do not interect in a predictable way, though. Sometimes when I change the pointer speed setting in one driver, the same setting in the other driver will automatically change in a seemingly random way.

Is there a way to disable the Windows 7 drivers, or limit them so that I don't have these duplicate settings?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Dear friends I've got a big problem.

My computer at my work has Multi-screen, I've got 8 Monitor on my computer and I use them all to my work --the Primary is my desktop and the other 7 is for informations to my clients at work.

Now here is my problem,
When I'm going the mouse to taskbar over the Thumbnails (I want to right click...and Close or Maximize-minimize) all the other Windows are getting "Disappear" --Minimize
And I don't want my other monitors to get Minimize!! I only want to close-minimize-maximize the selected Window and nothing else! I don't want my clients to see an empty screen

Is there any trick to change it?

A:How:Disable Minimize of Windows When mouse on Thumbnail

Is there any Registry variable that can I change to "HKEY-C-U/Control Panel/Desktop" and Disable this annoying Think that make transparent 100% (or Minimize) to all the windows except the "Selected Thumbnail Window" when mouse over Thumbnail.

Thank you.

Hey all. I recently bought a Surface Pro 2. I later bought a Surface Arc Mouse. Long story short, I had to return my Surface. So, as of now I am on my laptop and I found out that it is not compatible with Windows 7...
I tried googling around and couldn't find anything. Am I stuck?

It works with Windows, the issue is the Surface Edition of the mouse doesn't come with the bluetooth dongle. Your computer either need bluetooth builtin or you'll have to get a bluetooth dongle.

I have a Logitech MX I downloaded special driver from Logitech - the Logitech Gaming Software This let's me give it a default dpi and I can change the dpi buttons to do something else Problem is that windows Default 10 broken mouse drivers after about a minute the mouse gets stuck for a second and suddenly those settings are forgotten Even though LGS is still running When I open it Default windows 10 mouse drivers broken up Default windows 10 mouse drivers broken it 'remembers' them again LGS settings are always the same ones I put in but only temporarily Even worse after my inputted settings are forgotten the mouse keeps randomly getting stuck and changes the dpi I think there is some sort of a conflict between the default drivers and the LGS One of the problems is also that when I uninstall LGS it goes back to the default drivers And weirdly the default drivers do have the dpi function - the buttons scale it either up or down But I have no idea where I can change what they do it's not in any windows settings I could find This is incredibly annoying Any ideas

A:Default windows 10 mouse drivers broken

What driver version did you install? I used the latest. LGS_8.75.30_x64. I can use the windows drivers w/o issue. Yes, I can change DPI but, cannot set default. You cannot remap the M4 and M5. They are forward and back. However, my games recognize this and I can assign whatever I wish. I really installed the Logitech drivers for my G710+ keyboard.

Hello there, I was just wondering if there was a group policy feature and/or free software available to totally disable use of the mouse or move it to the corner of the screen at startup. You see, my teammates and I are creating a digital kiosk as part of a school project which uses a web page as the layout. The center of the page houses the daily announcements, which scroll using Javascript. However, if the mouse hovers over the announcements, the Javascript picks up on this and stops scrolling. My goal is to prevent the pointer from being visible.

Any ideas?

Thanks very much.

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

What Lenovo model do you have and operating system installed?  Example Ideapad 100, Lenovo Z50..... Windows 8..... Windows 10.

If your laptop has the ability to disable the touchpad when a mouse is plugged in, that option will be found in the settings / properties for the touchpad.  I have a couple of older Lenovo laptops using Windows 7 and 8 where the touchpad software / driver will allow disabling.  Where as my newer Lenovo laptops with Windows 10 does not have that feature.  The disabling is really dependent on the software / drivers for your model.

I work for a library and all I want to do is completely disable the right mouse button in Windows XP on public access computers (but allow me to login as administrator and enable/disable it again). I figured Windows would have something like this built in, but it doesn't. I figured there would be a freeware program that could do this, but I can't find one. Some mouse drivers allow you to disable the right mouse button, but not for the mice I have. Do you know of some obscure Windows XP registry setting that would allow me to disable the right mouse button (in all contexts), or of a simple freeware utility that would allow me to do this?

A:Help!! Virus disable my mouse

i'm awaiting a fix for I have a mouse problem too.
I have to unplug and plug back in the usb mouse to keep it working.
if I have the adaptor for the normal mouse port it won't work at all.

so i've been using the kb for almost a week now. (help me techsupportguys! hehe)

use the TAB button to move to each link in a page and to the address bar etc.
hold shift and tab to go backwards.

use cursor controls to scroll in a page. (you may need to tab to get to the scrollable area)

while holding the ALT button, press tab and you can switch between windows. a little window pops up and you can go to the window you want if you have several open.

if your kb has a start button, pressing it will pull up the start menu and you can use your cursor controls to do stuff there. There's a key between the right side alt and ctrl (I don't know what it's called) that I does what my right mouse button does. ESC key to close that feature if it opens.

and of course ctrl/alt/delete to bring up task manager and you can close programs that way too.

can't think of anything else.

i've been doing this clean up thing

Hey people,

My grandmother has recently started using a computer and has trouble working the mouse. Whenever she tries to click, she is unable to hold her hand still and moves the mouse while clicking, otherwise known as dragging. Therefore, opening files, clicking on images etc. is impossible as she only drags them to another position...

Is it possible to disable dragging on a mouse? Or probably more accurate, is it possible to change the settings such that the click-action happens 'on-release' instead of 'on-click', which would result in the same disabling of dragging.

Thanks!
Laurens

A:Mouse - Disable Drag

Hello Laurens one possibility mate is to enable as in my pic. Control Panel > Mouse > see pic

If you click on say a file and then start to move it and release the click button the object will carry on moving until you click on it again as and where you want it.

It works with my machine but it does need that initial tiny bit of movement to keep it locked. I hope this might be of some use to you both.
Sorry missed a second pic you can adjust the length of time to hold the click down see pic 2

hi yiiyyii,

there should be a setting in your mouse properties control panel. labeled "enable tap to click" (or something similar).

since you wish to disable the feature, I assume that you're "clicking" by accident. you can probably solve that problem by reducing the touchpad sensitivity (same control panel).

personally I can't do without that feature when using my laptop. I don't have the patience to move my finger over to the buttons

When I'm typing on my blog it gets frustrating when I suddenly start typing in the midst of existing text, or links get clicked, because the focus has changed to the pointer and not where the cursor is!
Is there anyway to stop the focus following the pointer until I click where I want it to be?
Not used to this as I usually run a desktop.
Help please!

many thanks, Lol

A:How do I disable mouse focus on a Netbook?

This is probably caused by the touchpad Tap-to-click being enabled and you are accidentally brushing the touchpad while typing. I always disable Tap-tp-click so I have to use the touchpad buttons to click, just like a normal mouse.

If there is a touchpad icon in the System area of the Taskbar, right click on it and see if there is a Tap-to-click selected. If not, or no icon is present, open Control Panel then Mouse and see if you can find a way to turn it off.

If that resolves the problem good, if not you can turn it back on again.

I am using Windows 7 Professional 64 bit on three Dell Vostro 420 desktops and a Dell laptop. I know that Microsoft recommends that Windows Update is set to Automatic where the updates are downloaded and installed each night at 3 a.m. I have my machines set for Automatic Updates.

I have discovered that the Automatic Update has replaced a few of the older Dell installed drivers (sound card, etc.) with newer Microsoft drivers that do not have the same functionality as the original Dell drivers which I want to keep. I have downloaded from the Dell site and re-installed some of the Dell drivers.

My question - if I am using Automatic Updates is there a way to tell Automatic Updates that I only want the Microsoft files updated and not the "non" Microsoft files such at the Dell drivers, my nVidia driver, etc. updated as I want to control those driver updates myself?

Thanks for your help!

at my work we have a need to disable the scroll wheel on the mouse at a specific time, and then have it reactivated later. (too many errors from accidentally changing the default text drop down):

we already do something simmilar by running a batch script that runs a .reg file to disable the back and forward buttons on ie6. is there a registry value that controls the scroll wheel functionality too? Id rather not do it by 3rd party software as I wouldn't be able to get it approved.

Its really funny now, half the people around here literally have tape covering up the scroll wheel,

hopefully i can provide a better solution

I am trying to disable the line highlight when the mouse cursor hovers a file or a folder in Explorer (Win 8.1 Pro 64 bit).

I am not interested in a partial line highlight, I want to get completely rid of that light blue highlight that follows the mouse cursor.

Should it be impossible to disable, is there at least a way to change the highlight color from light blue to transparent?

I use an external USB mouse most of the time. I must disable the touchpad via control panel each time I start or restart the laptop. I want to disable the touchpad except when I wish to reactivate it for temporary use without the external mouse. The system is a new HP Pavilion dv6 with Windows 7. The touchpad is a Synaptics TouchPad V8.1.

A:[SOLVED] Disable touchpad w/ external mouse

Usually there is a touchpad icon in the lower right corner of the Taskbar. You might find a setting there to disable the touchpad. Some laptops have an on/off button just above the touchpad, but you can accidentally turn it on.

You could also disable the touchpad in Hardware Manager. This is a more "permanent" solution, because you would have to go back into Hardware Manager in order to re-enable it.

I've having a problem with my Logitech G5. After reinstalling Vista my mouse has mouse acceleration even though it is disabled in mouse>properties.

I am 100% sure it is the default mouse drivers installed by vista. However I do not know how to disable it from being installed when I plug the mouse in. If I can disable the auto-install, I can use a PS/2 mouse to install Logitech's driver and then plug back in my G5.

How can I disable auto driver installation for USB mice (or a different solution)?

hi is there a way to auto disable the touch pad when an usb mouse connected to the machine? and auto enable it again once the usb mouse is unplugged?

A:Auto disable touch pad when USB mouse connected

Hi Akuswara, welcome to the Eight Forums.

Most touchpads allow this setting, it can be found in Mouse Properties. This example is for Synaptics touchpads:

Open Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > MouseSelect the Device Settings tabSelect Disable internal pointing device when external USB pointing device is attachedClick OK to save settings
That's it. Now every time you connect a USB mouse, the touchpad is automatically disabled. As soon as USB mouse is disabled or disconnected, the touchpad will be enabled again. Depending on Notification Area settings you'll get a notification (screenshot above, at bottom) every time touchpad is disabled or enabled.

The Synaptics shoudl have added it's own Control Panel, or added to the Mouse properties in the Control Panel and created an icon in the System Tray.

The Gateway site lists both the Synaptics and Elantech drivers for the laptop, which touchpad does the laptop say you have?

Basically what i'm asking, is the driver contingent on the startup program, or does it run otherwise via a service or something of the sorts. I figure since I never interact with those startup apps, if they can be disabled, I will disable them.

After a recent Windows update (I am using Windows 10), I have found that there is now acceleration on my built-in trackpad input. That is, the distance my on-screen cursor moves for a given amount of movement of my finger depends on the speed at which I move my finger. This is undesirable.
Normally, mouse acceleration is caused by enabling the "Enhance pointer precision" setting in the mouse settings section of the control panel. However, I have this setting disabled.
Is there any way I can disable this mouse acceleration? Thank you in advance.

HI
Anyone any idea how to get the " Auto Disable Synaptics Touchpad when USB Mouse is connected" feature active again.  I found an old entry in a forum that referenced changing a setting in Registry to Hex 33 and implied that this would make the OPTION become visible in the Mouse settings in Control Panel.  But  it appeared to simply disable the touchpad ALL the time.So I assume Synaptics have changed things since this 'fix' was posted in 2009 I think. .
I have W7  XPS,  and Driver version 15.3.22.0 for Synaptics Touchpad.  Cheers

A:Auto Disable Synaptics Touchpad when USB Mouse is connected

SOLVED SOLVED SOLVED!!!

All - I've read through this and many forums and have found no solution. I figured it out on my own, so I am happy to share with you!
This solution applies to those who do not have a touchpad disable button on an F key at the top of your keyboard and have the Synaptics driver that does not show the option to disable the touchpad when the external device is present. This also applies to those where the registry key update does not work (as it did not for me).
Here's the solution.

1. Go to the Dell website and get the latest driver for your touchpad. Install it.
2. Once installed, go to c:\program files\synaptics\syntp in your windows explorer.
3. Open the program called DellTpad.exe (there is also one called DellTouchpad.exe -- don't use this one)

4. Once open, click Device Settings.

5. And voila, the old checkbox is there at the bottom! Just click to make this active and it works like a charm.

I've got a Dell Latitude D600 laptop, running Windows Professional XP. I recently upgraded to a larger hard drive and while that all went fine, I'm now noticing problems with my mouse cursor seemingly randomly jumping to different places on the screen - especially when typing.

What I get from researching this problem, is that the touchpad is the common culprit. Since this laptop has the built-in keyboard pointer mouse, which I use in favor of the touchpad, disabling the touchpad won't be a huge hardship. It seems improbable, but I'm unclear on how to disable my touchpad. I know you must do that through the Control Panel, but nothing about the Mouse icon or the Device Manager seems to tell me enough on how to disable just the touchpad, since it seems like the mouse cursor and the touchpad are "integrated" - but I could be wrong. Suggestions?

A:Solved: Hopping Mouse Cursor - Disable Touchpad - How?

Dell (and most laptops makers) has an app that controls the touchpad and other laptop specific features. So if you installed the app, there will a shortcut in the Start menu, and an icon in Control Panel in the lower right corner by the clock.

ideally, i would like for any mouseclicks and menu opening commands made within X microseconds of a keystroke to be discarded, with the user setting the value of X.

for the record, i'm working on a laptop (2730p) which has mousebuttons and menu buttons quite close to the typing keys, and i have on occassion overwritten entire paragraphs and somehow even issued a close program command while furiously typing. needless to say, i would like a fix for this.

I have a HP Pavilion dv7, I want to disable the touchpad. I am running Windows 10 64 bit. The options to disable does not exist through any of the mentioned methods in the forums I have researched. It does not show up in the mouse enable or disable as described. This touchpad is very annoying to say the least. I am very close to taking the laptop apart and pulling the ribbon connector off to permanently disable it.Hoping someone has the answer to shutting it off?Thank you for the assistance.

Hi, the problem I have is that every time i shutdown and power back on, my Wifi, WLAN and all the USB drivers are not working.

I found all I have to do is disable and then enable the Wifi / WLAN drivers in device manager, to start them working. And I found that If I uninstall all the USB devices in device manager they then reinstall automatically.

But then when I reboot then they are not working again.

I tried a system restore to when the drivers were working but they don't change.

I have downloaded the latest drivers from Intel's website, and tried DriverMax which says the drivers are the latest version.

I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit on a Dell Studio 1555. The Wifi / WLAN drivers are Intel.

I've tried searching on google but I haven't come across anyone with this problem. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas?

Hi folks,
built a new rig. Sound works fine with base drivers. Windows 10 automatically keeps updating it to realtek driver. This stops the sound working. If I play music, I can see the speakers green volume bar turning raising and lowering with the music so its being received.
Tried disabling speakers and enabling headphones.. same thing happens.
Tried different versions of the drivers.. same thing happens.
Tried plugging into the front pc ports...same thing happens.
Tried the troubleshooter... doesnt fix just rerolls to original shop driver.
Made sure nothing was muted, and that I have disabled enhancements.
Would really appreciate help on this, Ill monitor this thread closely to answer any questions.

I'm not sure if this belongs here but I just recently have been having a problem with completely disabling my Dell touchpad Today I woke my laptop out of sleep mode and it failed to start get past the Starting Windows animation so I restarted it Everything was fine but my touchpad is not disabled like it's been for months So I tried going into the Can't drivers?) disable touchpad(corrupt/missing mouse settings and disable it Can't disable touchpad(corrupt/missing drivers?) through the touchpad tab Well I don't see that tab anymore After that I read online that if you don't see the tab anymore that means the driver isn't installed Can't disable touchpad(corrupt/missing drivers?) I did have the driver for it but then I decided to uninstall it through device manager to see if it might reinstall itself and fix the problem Before that Can't disable touchpad(corrupt/missing drivers?) I did try to update the driver but it said it was up to date and working After restarting it did say it was installing some drivers but still no sign of the touchpad settings Now when I go back to mouse or device manager where it used to list the touchpad that's been replaced with another HID compliant mouse The other thing I tried but discovered that wasn't such a good idea was I found my touchpad drivers on Dell's site for the right model and tried installing it upon installation it said that the same drivers existed and asked if I still wanted to install them and I did just that Wound up having to do a system restore to remove the files for the computer to boot up again I might try and do another system restore but I'm not sure if that'll fix the problem Is there a way to fully uninstall all traces of the touchpad so I can cleanly reinstall it

A:Can't disable touchpad(corrupt/missing drivers?)

I have an Acer Aspire and no idea what usb mouse I'm using but by download synaptic driver I was
able to get the tab in Mouse Properties of Device settings next to hardware tab and disabled pad
from there. I hate touch pads of any sort. Give me wireless mouse any day. Too easy to hit the pad
while typing if activated and screw a whole paragraph up.
Good luck.

I see many responses saying either to disable or to uninstall on-board graphics drivers. I have a Dell E310 with Windows XP and currently has the integrated intel chipset. I was just wondering if there was any difference in either disabling or uninstalling the drivers. I'm about to replace my psu and install the graphics card tomorrow so I want to be sure I'm doing things right. Thank you and I appreciate the help.

I took the TB mech drive out with Windows and put in my own Samsung TB SSD after shipping delayed to Friday and I had to go out and blow another to buy the drive locally I got Windows no Mouse trackpad to tab disable Synaptics Control installs, Canel installed clean on that SSD on the inch Acer Aspire Nitro Then I go to install Synaptics from the Acer driver website hooray for NO direct link to drivers and while it does install it refuses to give me the control panel tab with the option to disable the touchpad while a mouse is plugged in So you're going to give Synaptics installs, no Control Canel Mouse tab to disable trackpad me a control panel mouse tab right The only software utilities I can find only disable the touchpad while typing I need it disabled all the time unless I don't have a dedicated mouse plugged in I've also tried third party manufacturers Acer's India-based tech support can't answer even the most simple questions and Google is dead set on shoving Windows down my throat I'm averaging about four - operators per search query at this point How do I make my computer obey

I am bald now after 2 days of pulling my hair out. I have checked with Drivers.com, ASUS, Yahoo and went through google and I can not find these drivers. I have a Win98 machine and the PS2 isn't a card per si, but one that ties into the motherboard.

It is an ASUS TX97-E motherboard and it's for a PS2 mouse....any ideas on finding the drivers?

Thanks!

A:PS2 Mouse drivers

Well, Windows has all the required drivers for a PS2 port and mouse, you should ne need to install any to get the mouse to function.

I Have two suggestions
1). try a different mouse
2). Check in the BIOS to see if the PS2 port is enabled.

This is a very old port socket 7 board, which was made around the time when PS2 mice were just becoming the standard, if all else fails, get a Serial mouse.

I had put my laptop into hibernation with my basic optical mouse plugged in. When I took the computer out of hibernation, the mouse lit up but did not work. The add new hardware wizard also popped up. Now windows doesn't recognize the mouse anymore, and it doesn't show up in the control pannel or the device mamager. It did not come with a driver CD and I cannot find drivers. Any suggestions?

I have an optical mouse I want to use with my Dell laptop. Unfortunately when I plug into the USB port the system fails to recognise and install any drivers for the mouse.

The mouse is a novelty mouse - hence no specific details of manufacturer - but assume is pretty standard under the surface.

Any clues how to make the mouse work?
