Fullscreen button not working with online videos

Q: Fullscreen button not working with online videos

So, Youtube and other sites work, but with certain embedded video players, clicking the fullscreen button does nothing. The video just remains windowed. This has been a problem for awhile now, and I have been unable to find a solution anywhere, as nobody seems to share my issue. I run Firefox, and have an HP Pavilion laptop. I will upload a screenshot of one of the players that does not work.
Also, I tried disabling hardware acceleration and had no luck.

RE
It is not the website lacking the required code for fullscreen, because this happens on any website running one of these players, and they used to work fine for me.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Other than the video being stretched on my 16:10 display, I had no issues w/ the playback on IE10 & FF26. Have you tried updating Flash plugin, if not the latest, to see if that fixes your problem? Do you have the same problem w/ IE?

The problem I'm having is that when I try to watch videos online, some websites work some don't.

Eg: www.youtube.com (Works) www.dailymotion.com (Does not work)

I've tried on several different broswers (chrome, IE, firefox) all of them are having the same problem.

What I've done so far:

Checked Java (up to date)
Checked Flash (up to date)
Uninstalled/reinstalled chrome (didn't fix anything)
Uninstalled/reinstalled Java (didn't fix anything)
Uninstalled/reinstalled Flash (didn't fix anything)

Tried googling the problem and there weren't any helpful suggestions. Which is why i'm here.

I also just realised that it actually hasn't been working since I reformatted my laptop. But I still am at a loss...

If you're able to help me with this it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

A:Online videos not working

Almost all video playback sites are online only & it is against their T&C to attempt to downlaod videos for offline use
Yes I know there are numerous alleged downloaders out there but the sites regularly update themselves to block the methods these dowmnloading programs use to preserve THEIR copyright
This is now closed as it breaches forum rules to discuss any further

A few days ago, videos started lagging for me when i fullscreened them but they play smoothly normal sized. I've never had this problem before and I don't know how to fix it. I've scanned my computer with Spybot, Malwarebytes, and my antivirus but they found nothing.

A:Videos lag when fullscreen

Hi -Please use SpeedTest and tell me your current Download speed in Mbps -NOTE: Do not click on any advertising on the site, but just click on Begin Test in the middle of the screen. This should only take 1 or 2 minutes to finish and you have not installed any programs, just getting a current speed reading of your downloads. You can then Exit the program [X] and retest in another 10 minutes to see if your download speed is stable. This can also be done while you have videos running and you shrink the page, and run the same test again with BleepingComputer open at the same time. Please post back with your download speeds after 3 individual tests -Thank You - EDITED to reset link -

A:problems with fullscreen videos

Right-click on the video, uncheck the 'Hardware Acceleration' box. See if that solves your problem. If not, then most likely your graphics card cannot support such resolution you are displaying this videos on.

If you want to explore more options, please enlighten us on some of your computer specs.

As the title suggests just about any game will crash. I have managed to work around this by playing in windowed mode which works for some games like saints row 4, but not for dota 2 (dota will crash no matter what I do). Also, netflix will crash the computer if I play the movies in full screen mode.
I've tried a lot of different things and sometimes when I keep my computer on for long periods of time (close to a week) saints row 4 will work just fine in full screen, but then I'll go to watch an anime in full screen (streaming) and the computer will crash. After that it will crash to almost anything that's full screen. Oddly enough I can watch twitch in full screen just fine.....
Totally perplexed......

I have my laptop connected to a Samsung TV which I use as my second monitor, the BSOD didn't happen at the start, but it started when I try to unplug the HDMI cable from my computer I get the BSOD.

It doesn't happen all the time just randomly. . . so I thought the problem could be with my HDMI or the Port. . . but as time passed, the BSOD also occurred when I am switching to/from fullscreen when I play games like, Diablo 3, Starcraft 2, Dota 2 or League of Legends. . . it also happens when I am watching movies when I try to switch to/from Normal Window to fullscreen even if the Samsung TV is not connected through HDMI.

Please help.

Right click on it and select "Open With"

Select the application you want to open this type of file, and tick the box "Always use this application..."

If you don't get an "Open with" option, try right clicking the file while holding down the Shift key.

Hi All,

This isn't a major problem but it's an irritating one. I can't seem to play online video clips. Sometimes they are really bad. I'm missing out on my Grandkids and Nieces videos. It really sucks! Also on the funny ones my friends post!!  LOL

I don't think I've ever been able to play them.  Was there something I was suppose to set up or download? I have Googled this problem a few times and can't seem to get a proper answer.  Google has never failed me before so I come to you. Please do you have some ideas for me??? I am of course running Windows 7 but my browser is Chrome.

Thank You Very Much, looking forward to your reply.                        Melody

Version of IE: 8
Operating System: HP Pavillion with Windows XP
What you have tried: Updating to Adobe FlashPlayer 10 as well as updating from IE7 (or older) to IE8
What the problem is: Cannot view videos on websites like Sho(dot)com, or view the music on MySpace artist pages.
Give detail explaining your problem: For a long while now, I have been unable to view webite videos, as well as the music on MySpace artist pages. This was not much of a problem until reciently when I started college and now do not have the ability to order or rent the movies I wish to see and am forced to look online. I have no problem viewing videos on sites such as YouTube and Hulu.
If you get any error message please post them: I have not gotten any messages.
Post any screen shots if you think they would be helpful: http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...ear04/show.jpg

I would uninstall Adobe Flash Player 10 and then go to Adobe and reinstall Adobe 10 Flash Player 10 or the most recent version. Just remember, you must uninsatll before you reinstall or it will not work. This should fix your problem and you will be able to watch your website videos.

Make sure you have the latest version of Adobe Flash Player. You could try a different media player although the Windows one shouldn't have problems on a website, only with certain pre-made videos (codex situation).

Last night I clicked on a link in my WebMD newsletter, which I've been getting for ages. It was a video and it would not play. I tried another WebMD newsletter with a video link and the same thing.

Today I clicked a link in a newsletter I received from LastPass and was going to watch an instructional video. It would not play.

I went to YouTube to see if their videos would play, and there doesn't seem to be a problem there. I clicked on some links I had kept from attachments sent to me that had videos and the ones I selected played.

I went to Amazon and played a video on Command Hooks and that worked.

So can anyone tell me why the first two instances I mentioned would not work?

I'm using Firefox 11.

A:online videos not playing

It really sounds like a WedMD issue.

However the asthma video on their site just worked for me.
Have you tried their site?

Hey guys,

not sure if this is in the right place, but I failed to see a better place. My issue is that with sites such as DailyMotion.com and others, as I watch a streaming video the sound will gradually de-synch from the actual video. For example, you will hear a character speaking or a door close, and about a second or two later the character's mouth will actually move or the door will actually close. Although not a huge deal, this is extremely annoying. I tried going to the site where the video is being hosted, but it didnt help. Any advice is appreciated

A:Online Videos de-synching

This can be because of several different issues. Fix-wise, there are a few things you can try. First of all, cut down on any unnecessary usage of your Internet connection (active downloads, P2P, etc) and system resources (unnecessary applications running). Second, you should update your media player (Windows Media Player, DivX Player, VLC media player, etc) as well as your codecs (eg: K-Lite Codec Pack) to fix any bugs/glitches/hubabaloo that may be creeping about.

Hi,
When I try to play online videos, the WMP opens but it just says "connecting" and never does anything. Then after I get frustrated and go onto something else. It seems sometimes that other programs won't start. When I decide to reboot. A program closing window comes up that is the "media event sink window". Does that have something to do with it? Would you like my Hjk log or do you know what's going on.

thanks, Jason

Hi,
Am running a Dell Inspiron 531.
Up until recently I never had an issue watching online videos. Now when I start a video it either freezes or plays for several seconds then freezes. On YouTube if you hit the pause button as the video begins, the video will sometimes download - you watch the download line slowly extending along the bottom of the video - then you can watch the video without it stuttering or freezing. But this doesn't always work.
But since I can access online videos my set-up is obviously okay - but why does everything suddenly take 10 times longer to watch: what is the reason please and is there a fix for it?
Thanks.

Hi kr236rk,
I suggest you to update the Adobe Flash Player to the latest version by downloading the file from the following link:http://adobe.ly/3DFbQq
You will also need to update the Network Adapter drivers from the Network section of the drivers download page, by punching in the Service Tag on the following page:http://dell.to/QjjZDA
Please let me know if you need further assistance.

I don't know why this happens but one day I installed an old version of flash player but then uninstalled it and installed the latest version. Then this happens. It has something to do with one of the drivers or something because when I run it in safe mode with networking I can see it clearly. The problem goes away when I put the quality to 240p. It only happens when I WATCH ONLINE VIDEOS.

Are you using a beta of Firefox or any other add-ons?

Have you:
- download a fresh copy of your video drivers
- uninstall the current video drivers from your system
- install the freshly downloaded drivers?

My daughter sends me emails to let me know she has sent me photos or videos of my grandkids. These are sent by her cell phone, through Sprint. When I click on the link in the email, it opens a webpage, with the photos or videos. I have no problem at all saving the photos, of course, but I need to know.....is it possible to save the videos she sends this way? Right clicking doesn't work, obviously.

I've tried everything I can think of and haven't been able to figure it out. Is it possible to do this??

A:Online videos of grandchildren

It depends on what the link leads you to. Ideally you would have a link to the file itself so you could right click and choose download or save target as...and get it, but some sites may only offer streaming the file. If that's the case, often it is downloaded as it plays and you could find the full video in the Temporary Internet Files (using IE) and searchable by size (should be one of the largest files). Or a software product like Applian stream capture can record the video as its played.

Alternately if you can get the person sending the links to upload the videos to a file transfer/sharing site like www.dropsend.com, then the video file can be downloaded easily since that's what its designed for.

Hello,

Occassionally, like once every three days, whenever I try to play an online video like from Youtube or essentially any video that is from the internet, it will freeze and stop playing after about 2-3 seconds of play. I've let the video load all the way through and still no luck. This also happens with online games sometimes. After about 5 seconds of loading up, on any browser, Mozilla or IE, it will freeze, just as the videos do. Strangely, though, after a reboot the videos and games work again. I wouldn't be complaining if this only happened once, maybe twice, but like I said, it happens occassionally. I'm pretty sure I have all the updated Shockwave and Flash player downloads, but maybe not. Any ideas on what might be the problem? Thanks very much.

Hi,

Yesterday i noticed that while I'm watching online videos like youtube and so on my C: diskspace is shrinking. While I was watching yesterday 2 hours long E3 Sony pressconference diskspace reduced 5-6 GB. Why this is happening ? Is it normal ? I have 4 GB of RAM on my PC. When i close Firefox diskspace returns like it was before watching. When I looked in Firefox it says that is using only 11,1MB cache. Anybody can help ???

Edit:

I just noticed that this folder suddenly became 10GB in size:

After i closed Firefox almost everything from that folder dissapeared

A:Problem While watching online videos

Maybe Firefox is saving the videos in your temporary files folder.
Have you tried clearing your temporary files folder whilst Firefox is open?

You could try deleting these files with Disk Cleanup - Delete Temporary Files with Disk Cleanup

Hope I helped.

Ok, so yesterday I watched a few utube videos on my laptop without any problems.

Today, I found that the music videos in my bookmarks had sound but no picture. I did a restart and afterwards there didn't appear to be any problems. Later when I returned home I found I had the same problem with my bookmarked utube music videos and any others I tried to watch, but several other non music utube videos in my bookmarks played ok. Any ideas anyone? Thanks.

Make sure you have the latest version of Flash installed. Does this occur on all browsers? Do you have any plug-ins running or audio codec's installed? You could even go as far as checking to make sure your video drivers are all up to date.

if the mouse is being moved while it is stuttering, it will freeze with the same frequency as the audio!Click to expand...

When this happens. Does the computer it self freeze or just the video?

You will need to state your operating system and browser. In Windows Internet Explorer it is usually in the Temporary Internet Files. I used to save .swf files from there.

Hey guys I as hoping you could assist me with this when BSOD with interacting videos. online Twice today this has happened to me The first time early in the morning I went on youtube BSOD when interacting with online videos. and I clicked to play on a video when I directed youtube to resize the player into a bigger version my screen turned black and dark red golden thin lines appeared on the screen the audio was still playing Now I had two monitors running and my second monitor was still displaying my desktop with no problem I was chatting with my girl and I kept talking to her while I tried to fix the problem I tried tabulating firefox away to see if it had been the cause No go task manager to close it nothing Tried changing resolution Nothing at all I wasn't able to even try to restart the computer I just pushed the power button and let go so the computer would start the shut down process Of course as soon as the computer started closing programs the screen came back to normal and then the system proceeded to shut down The BSOD when interacting with online videos. second time which just happened not so long ago I finished doing a long session of skyrim with my HD BSOD when interacting with online videos. Vapor X Overclocked version from sapphire I went to facebook after and saw a friend uploaded a video so I went on to click on it the popout loaded fine comments came out but as soon as the video player rendered bam Screen went black now with very thin brown lines Once again my second monitor was still displaying my desktop This time however after a second or two I got a blue screen displaying a faulty atikmpag sys I went and ran debugging tools to get the full report which I attached at the bottom of the post And lo-and behold it was that process causing this From the information I was able to find out it seems this is caused because the recovery of the display driver failed The card is barely two weeks old it is overclocked past it's default overclock but only by mhz and it has been stable for the mentioned time I did read that this error can be caused by hardware but other people who removed their video cards kept on encountering this error and some others even had to do a motherboard swap I am genuinely at a loss with how I should approach this issue One thing that might be worth mentioning I installed Assassin's Creed Revelations today and with it it automatically installed direct x This is the last software change I can recall before having these video issues I only played the game for minutes before I got bored of it and didn't attempt to run it after today Any help would be highly appreciated Here is the debugged file for you

A:BSOD when interacting with online videos.

Interesting, so ever since I made this thread, I removed assassins creed, and performed a system restore from before I installed the game, and the issues mentioned above have not happened ever since.

I find it strange that this application was causing this problem. That's a pitty. I wonder if it had anything to do with the Direct X Installation the game did before setup was finished.

Whenever I try to watch a video from a website (not Youtube) it'll play for a few seconds, then I'll get a spinning circle while it buffers. It'll play again for a few seconds, then buffer again, ad infinitum. Someone suggested I right-click on the video and disable hardware acceleration, but it's not enabled. I've cleared the temporary Internet files and such with no success. I updated both Java and Flash, but it made no difference, so I'm out of ideas. There's nothing in the house using anything online, so it's not like my bandwidth is getting used up elsewhere.

When opening pages with internet videos, occasionally my entire screen will freeze with a couple of odd exceptions: the mouse still moves but doesn't highlight anything and the computer appears to behave as normal, i.e the movements and clicks of the mouse can manipulate the (now playing, sound only obviously) video (pausing, skipping etc.).

Every time this happens, forcing shutdown and rebooting causes the computer to then behave normally, but obviously this is not ideal. The freezing happens fairly infrequently, once every couple of days or so, sometimes more often, and i don't have to actually be viewing the page when it happens, for example youtube changing to the next video in a music playlist open in a background tab can trigger it. Anyone have any idea what might be going on?

Thanks in advance people

I have been having a problem viewing videos on some websites, for example videos from wwe.com and nbcolympics. I have sound but no picture, the ads usually play before the video but then when the actual video starts there is still sound but no picture. This only happens on certain sites, I think it has to do with what type of video it is. Sites like youtube work fine.

Before to correct this problem I used to just run Ad-Aware and Spybot S&D and the video viewing would come back. I have tried those again as well as all the other programs I had to run to get rid of a previous virus, but I am still not able to view video on some sites.

Has anyone else had any other problems such as this and found what was causing it or have any ideas how to fix it? Thanks.

A:BSOD while watching videos online.

Virtually all of these were BCC 116

Quote:
"It's not a true crash, in the sense that the bluescreen was initiated only because the combination of video driver and video hardware was being unresponsive, and not because of any synchronous processing exception".

Since Vista, the "Timeout Detection and Recovery" (TDR) components of the OS video subsystem have been capable of doing some truly impressive things to try to recover from issues which would have caused earlier OSs like XP to crash.

As a last resort, the TDR subsystem sends the video driver a "please restart yourself now!" command and waits a few seconds.

If there's no response, the OS concludes that the video driver/hardware combo has truly collapsed in a heap, and it fires off that stop 0x116 BSOD.

If playing with video driver versions hasn't helped, make sure the box is not overheating.

Try removing a side panel and aiming a big mains fan straight at the motherboard and GPU.

Run it like that for a few hours or days - long enough to ascertain whether cooler temperatures make a difference.

If so, it might be as simple as dust buildup and subsequently inadequate cooling.

I would download cpu-z and gpu-z (both free) and keep an eye on the video temps

I have been getting frequenct BSOD's since from last month, initially system crashed very often, BSOD occured even at the windows log on screen.

Later, I uninstalled my AVG Anti-virus & installed MSE (its also disabled now)
after that, BSOD only occurs when watching videos in the browser.

I get various kinds of BSOD errors, some of the common were,
"IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL"
"A clock interrupt was not received in secondary processor within the allocated time interval"
"KERNEL_MODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED"
"BAD POOL HEADER"

System Information:
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit

These crashes were caused by memory corruption (probably a driver). Please run these two tests to verify your memory and find which driver is causing the problem.

If you are overclocking anything reset to default before running these tests.
In other words STOP!!!
1-Memtest.

Quote:
*Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

*Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.

Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

Any errors are indicative of a memory problem.

If a known good stick fails in a motherboard slot it is probably the slot.

RAM - Test with Memtest86+

2-Driver verifier

Quote:
I'd suggest that you first backup your data and then make sure you've got access to another computer so you can contact us if problems arise. Then make a System Restore point (so you can restore the system using the Vista/Win7 Startup Repair feature).

In Windows 7 you can make a Startup Repair disk by going to Start....All Programs...Maintenance...Create a System Repair Disc - with Windows Vista you'll have to use your installation disk or the "Repair your computer" option at the top of the Safe Mode menu .

Then, here's the procedure:
- Go to Start and type in "verifier" (without the quotes) and press Enter
- Select "Create custom settings (for code developers)" and click "Next"
- Select "Select individual settings from a full list" and click "Next"
- Select everything EXCEPT FOR "Low Resource Simulation" and click "Next"
- Select "Select driver names from a list" and click "Next"
Then select all drivers NOT provided by Microsoft and click "Next"
- Select "Finish" on the next page.

Reboot the system and wait for it to crash to the Blue Screen. Continue to use your system normally, and if you know what causes the crash, do that repeatedly. The objective here is to get the system to crash because Driver Verifier is stressing the drivers out. If it doesn't crash for you, then let it run for at least 36 hours of continuous operation (an estimate on my part).

If you can't get into Windows because it crashes too soon, try it in Safe Mode.
If you can't get into Safe Mode, try using System Restore from your installation DVD to set the system back to the previous restore point that you created.

Having problems viewing only some online videos. I've been speaking with one site's IT tech but there's been no resolution. One idea was to install IE9 Beta and that didn't do anything but to loose the video viewing ability at more websites. It also left black boxes in graphics where the radio buttons should be, so needless to say I've removed that. I've also tried installing Adobe Flash Player again as well. I'm at a loss. This only started last week. I'm not visiting any sites out of the ordinary. And of course what's weird is I can still view some videos online, like at YouTube but not others.

if this helps....I have the Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop with Windows 7

Hi i have windows 7 pro 64 bit. It doesnt happen everytime but sometimes when i watch videos online the computer will bsod and restart. I have an intel motherboard with core 2 quad and 4 gb of corsair ddr3. My video card is nvidia geforce 9400 gt. I have bought new memory and put a new cpu fan because it was overheating. I have also replaced the hard drive and it still bsod. I have another computer with a similar build which works perfectly fine. I have swtiched out the video cards from my other computer to this computer and it still bsod. I am thinking the motherboard could be defective or possibly the processor maybe damaged from overheating from the previous fan?idk I am hoping there is a software conflict that is causing this that is why i attatched the dump files. Can somebody please help me with this problem?

A:bsod while watching videos online.

It looks as if your Linksys Wireless Adapter is causing the problems. I suggest updating the driver for it, or uninstall it and install a fresh copy.

Hi,

I'm very good with computers, but I wasn't able to find the exact answer to my problem after extensive googling....so here I am.

I just bought a new Dell Studio 1557. When watching videos online, I get a sudden black screen, hourglass, I'll freeze up briefly, and then a crash with a BSoD. I have Windows 7 64bit.

My video card is the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570. I'm sure this is a problem with the video card (what else could it be?), but I can't solve the issue. It seems to only happen when watching fullscreen vids, and it's MUCH more prominent when I'm on battery power. I've upgraded the BIOS and video card; They are both current versions.

Ideas? How do I open the minidump files (if necessary?)?

thanks,

Kris

Hi -

Copy the mini kernel dumps from c:\windows\minidump to Documents folder

Run msinfo32 -
START | msinfo32 | save as NFO file (NFO = default file ext)

Zip up the dumps + NFO file and attach to next post.

Hi -

The bugchecks on the 11 mini kernel dump files -

(10) 0x7f (0x8,,,) = exception occurred during the handling of an exception; CPU signaled "double fault"; system BSODs

(1) 0xf4 (0x3,,,) = process critical to Windows 7 suddenly terminated

All list the probable cause as the [default] NT Kernel & Executive

I believe that the combination of an old KIS installation + out-dated Realtek Ethernet driver + Zone Alarm are the likely cause of your system crashes.

Remove Kaspersky Internet Security using KIS Removal Tool -

http://jcgriff2.com/A-V_Removal_Tools/KIS_Removal.html

Re-boot upon completion.

Remove Zone Alarm next --> http://server.iad.liveperson.net/hc/...97&action=view

You may want to use Revo to take care of Zone Alarm --> http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_..._download.html

Re-boot upon completion. Install MSE (link in KIS removal page).

Update Realtek RTL8168C(P)/8111C(P) Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC driver -

Code:

Rt64win7.sys Thu Feb 26 04:04:13 2009 (49A65B0D) - Realtek Ethernet
Realtek NIC Drivers --> http://www.realtek.com.tw/products/p...Level=5&Conn=4

Follow the above advice and see if BSODs persist. Please let me know how things go.
