Preferred Solution: Keyboard not found - EPP - disabled - getting tired of this on my wife's computer

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

my wife doesn't use my computer very often, but tonite she wanted to send a email to a friend and after I got the email setup she proceded to type the message or try to, three times she locked up the keyboard and I had to reboot to get it to work again, could it have been something she did or do I have a problem with my keyboard? I ended up typing the message for her and had no problems.

A:Tired Computer?

I'm no expert, but try checking the task manager. In the Performance tab check the CPU Usage. It shows a percentage.

Usually during a virus scan my computer gets sluggish. This is due to the usage being high. This means your computer's resources are being used more, and less is used on browsing and such.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker
Disk Check < if necessary include the /f and /r in the command line as per Option2

if no go then

For the record aka my history XMas PIII laptop for my son when wife who a computer got needs I a from Santa Configure a D-Link USB Adapter to find our qwest Actiontec wireless network which is hardwired to our desktop computer In the beginning It works who needs a wife when I got a computer and the laptop D-Link can find the wireless network Shortly after the laptop cannot find the network but can find others in our area and will not connect I mentioned who needs a wife when I got a computer this to a co-worker today while mentioning that I changed channels on the modem and he asked if I had gotten a new phone I did A GHz anolog So he suggested that the frequency was conflicting It made sense and I proceedingly went through what I thought was my salvation in the matter Nonetheless and after reconfiguring the modem laptop unplugging the new telephone the laptop still cannot locate our own wireless signal Help Plug and play doesn t really exist with MS OS s does it If so I have never experienced it nbsp

A:who needs a wife when I got a computer

I experienced the same weird thing myself a few days ago. After verifying that my router was still fine I did a System Restore to a day I knew the adapter was working. Fixed! Suggest you consider that first. But if it seems to be the router see the following. Can you check the router with another wireless (maybe borrowed) computer? Or try the USB adapter on your other computer?

Since you can detect other networks but not yours, it would seem that
a. your router's wireless signal is disabled,

You can quickly check (a) and (b). If no luck there, note all important router settings, reset it to factory default settings, and reconfigure it. Sometimes this will bring a flaky router back to life.

2.4Ghz cordless phones certainly cause problems, but I don't know if they ever cause a signal to become invisible.

A:My wife has been using the computer help....

You should be watching her closer......

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should not have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that Display the contents of System Folders' is checked. Windows XP's search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that Search system folders, Search hidden files and folders, and Search subfolders are checked.

For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep).

Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore. Click Apply and then OK. Restart your computer. After we are finished with your log file and verified that it's clean, you may turn it back on and create a new restore point.

Please download Ad-aware SE and install it if you don't have it already. Make sure it's the newest version and check for any updates before running it. Go to this site to get the plug-in for fixing VX2 variants. To run this tool, go into Ad-aware->Add-ons and select VX2 Cleaner. Then click Run Tool and OK to start it. If it's clean, it will say Status System Clean. Otherwise, you will have to click on the Clean button to remove the VX2 infection. Also make sure to customize the settings in Ad-aware for better scan results. Run the scan and fix everything that it finds.

Reboot into Safe Mode (hit F8 key until menu shows up). Make sure to close any open browsers. Go into HijackThis->Config->Misc. Tools->Open process manager. Select the following and click Kill process for each one if they are still listed (they shouldn't be - but double check it):

C:\WINDOWS\system32\blcmnj.exe

Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any):

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\blank.htm
O2 - BHO: LocalNRDObj Class - {00320615-B6C2-40A6-8F99-F1C52D674FAD} - C:\WINDOWS\localNRD.dll
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [jkygkt] C:\WINDOWS\system32\blcmnj.exe
O16 - DPF: {FFFF0003-0001-101A-A3C9-08002B23E0CC} - http://direct.data-line.us/gbn298.exe
O16 - DPF: {FFFF0003-0001-101A-A3C9-08002B23E0CD} - http://direct.data-line.us/gbn298.exe

Delete the following Files/Folders (delete folders if no filename is specified) according to their directory (if none, just do a search for them) and delete them if they exist:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\blcmnj.exe
C:\WINDOWS\localNRD.dll

Reboot into Normal Mode and post a new HijackThis log file so we can make sure it's clean.

If you are able...

How to find and post your Minidump Files:

My Computer > C Drive > Windows Folder > Minidump Folder > Minidump Files.

It is these files that we need (not the folder). Attach to your next post the five most recent dumps. Notice the Manage Attachments button at the bottom when you go to post the next time. You can Zip up to five files per Zip; if you only have one or two you don?t need to zip them, just attach as is. Please do us a favor and don?t Zip each one individually.

mine always seems fine....hers always seems to have problems (aside from her keeping 100 chrome tabs open at the same time)
currently when typing (mostly on chrome), letters don't quite keep up with keystrokes (including while deleting)
mouse clicks and copy/paste seem sluggish as well.

I've removed any excess extensions/background programs, etc.
have AVG 2014 internet security running always.

Hi there My wife opened an email virus attachment the other day and although she had a to computer get back. my wife's Trying current version of AVG running it didn t block it The virus hid all user folders data etc Using Unhide I got the data back and using MWB Spybot S amp D and Avast I m pretty sure I got rid of the bug I have two problems I cannot seem to fix The first is an error message that appears after start up that says windows cannot load quot aahnvavljbt cmd quot specified in the registry I found the entry using search in REGEDIT but it would not let me delete the entry I also tried cleaning the the registry with QuickCare but that didn t help Any ideas how to delete this entry The second and more critical problem is that the virus seems to have changed some system folders into inaccessible shortcuts such as quot Documents and Settings quot quot Start Menu quot quot Cookies quot and a bunch of others When I try to change the security properties for these I get Trying to get my wife's computer back. an error message I discovered this when trying to move folders and files back from the TEMP SMTMP folders created by the virus and realized these system folders are now inaccessible shortcuts Any solutions out there for this without wiping her computer clean Thanks Paul

Welcome aboard Download Security Check from HERE, and save it to your Desktop. * Double-click SecurityCheck.exe * Follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box. * A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt; please post the contents of that document.=============================================================================Please download Farbar Service Scanner and run it on the computer with the issue.Make sure the following options are checked:
This version will download a zip file you will need to extract first. If you use this mirror, please extract the zip file to your desktop.Disconnect from the Internet and close all running programs.Temporarily disable any real-time active protection so your security programs will not conflict with gmer's driver.Double-click on the randomly named GMER file (i.e. n7gmo46c.exe) and allow the gmer.sys driver to load if asked.Note: If you downloaded the zipped version, extract the file to its own folder such as C:\gmer and then double-click on gmer.exe.
GMER will open to the Rootkit/Malware tab and perform an automatic quick scan when first run. (do not use the computer while the scan is in progress)If you receive a WARNING!!! about rootkit activity and are asked to fully scan your system...click NO.Now click the Scan button. If you see a rootkit warning window, click OK.When the scan is finished, click the Save... button to save the scan results to your Desktop. Save the file as gmer.log.Click the Copy button and paste the results into your next reply.Exit GMER and be sure to re-enable your anti-virus, Firewall and any other security programs you had disabled.IMPORTANT! If for some reason GMER refuses to run, try again. If it still fails, try to UN-check "Devices" in right pane.If still no joy, try to run it from Safe Mode.

I have a new computer and gave my wife my old one. How do I transfer her windows 10 information to my old computer without losing programs etc.. Thanks

It's an AMD Socket A with an Asus MB. It a generic that I assembled several years ago and have upgraded a few times. Replaced all of the fans about 6 months ago. When you power it on the only thing that happens is the fans come on and the lights on the DVD and HD flash but it doesnt seem to be trying to boot at all. There is nothing on the monitor and I changed out the video card just to see but that did not help at all. I am afraid the CPU is fried but am hoping it could be something else maybe the HD but I had one of those go out before and I would still see some activity on the monitor. Any hope for me or thoughts??

I am about to give up, I cannot get my wife's computer to let me access her files Via the network (I want to be able to access all her files not just a few.) I have 3 other machines on the network, no problems accessing the files on them, There are 4 computers on the network, all are running windows 7 , all have the same workgroup name, all have the same homegroup password, I have shared all the drives on wife's computer, even shared folders in the homegroup, still no joy, have set permissions till I am blue in the face. I have no idea why windows 7 has so much security, I have no info on any of my computers that requires that level of security, I wish I could just disable it, I never had any problems with Windows XP, I may go back to it for this reason. Thanks

You mention workgroup first then homegroup. If you are running homegroup it has sharing issues on some systems (esp older hardware). If homegroup you can test to see if this is the problem by creating a new network connection using workgroup. If it works you can disable IPv6 and homegroup;.

So as you can see in the description I'm an IT guy. I have tried to speed up my wires computer with all the tools i have thought of and I'm out of ideas.
When she is on the computer it will work fine for a while then it will start slowing down. I have run: Combofix, SuperAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes' and Emsisoft. We have Trend Micro for virus protection.

So I have no idea of where it came from. I saw the other post, but the files he removed did not fix the problem. An XP machine, she uses AOL and has their version of McAfee Security Center. Upon bootup, the error meesagte was "error loading C:/windows/dmcmfmsp.dll The specified module could not be found." I got a meet locals popup when IE8 was opened, along with numerous reminder to activate AMD.
There used to be a tutorial here, what should I do to eradicate this malware? I am re-doing the scan she performed, but I was told McAfee could not quarantine the virus.
Thanks!

FYI
I am reinstalling XP, because I could not run one of the programs you guys wanted to see a log for. It is the path of least resistance in this case. The malware chewed up all the available memory, and I ran out of patience.

For the past two weeks, my wife's computer browser has been hijacked by Shopica. It occurred immediately after Microsoft performed a midnight auto software update on her computer. When she started her computer the next morning, none of her documents or program icons appeared. We called Microsoft directly and a technician asked us to download an .exe program called 'unhide' and immediately all her files and programs came back. Unfortunately, her browser started redirecting.

I have performed numerous malware scans and quaranteens and nothing has corrected the problem.

Any and all help would be appreciated. I will follow directions religiously. We do not want to have to purchase a new computer or hire an expensive technician to correct the problem.

Pete

My wife was playing a game and her computer froze. I tried to close it but that didn't work. Tried control/alt/delete...no response.
I ultimately had to resort to hitting the off switch.
When I tried to boot back up I was getting "No Signal" on monitor. I tried it several times to no avail.
I tried changing to onboard video.
I disconnected the dvi and plugged in a vga cable
I tried changing cables.
I tried another power cord..
I tried another monitor.
I can't even get into the bios or safe mode because I can't get a signal.
No matter what I try i can't get a video signal.

This is a fairly old computer with an I3 dual core CPU
4gb ddr2 ram
Nvidia GT8600 video card.

Any Ideas would be much appreciated.

A:Lost the video on wife's computer

Have you opened the computer up to see if there is dust covering the gpu, a while back on my old computer the same thing happened to me it turns of my Graphics card diesd cause i was'nt taking good care of it, there was so much dust on it the fans could barely move. So if you haven't cleaned it out yet, clean it out, and then test.

Hello Sharing computer wife's on files my My wife and I both have Windows Ultimate and while I was able to map one of here drives on my computer earlier after she got a -bit-enabled computer I cannot Well I got as far as to see her User folders but not here C and D drives I really only want her D data drive I have done what I believe I need to do but when I go to Netword and Sharing Center gt See full map I get My-PC Gateway Internet and then quot The following discovered device s can not be placed on the map Click here to see all other devices quot Printer X My wife-PC My wife-PC Wife one wife is User and the other wife is MS Media Player Any help to resolve this would be most appreciated I also appreciate to be able to say that in a long life I do not think I have seen anything so badly designed and explained as the MS network Ahhhhhh Regards Hans L

A:Sharing files on my wife's computer

If not then you won't be able to connect as i believe it's a security setting that stops people connecting without authenticating.

2. You may need to share the D: drive and give it a share name such as 'data', this way you can map or unc to it as \\ipaddress\data or \\hostname\data

3. Authentication, in order to connect to the other computer you would need to authenticate against that computer so you would either need to:
a. Have the same username / password on both/all computers, this way when you connect you are connecting with a username/password that is recognised on the others computers local SAM

b. If you have different usernames/password on the computers then connect via UNC (such as \\ipaddress\data) and after a short while you should get a username / password prompt

That is a lot to take in maybe and once you have followed that information there maybe more information you can provide us that could elaborate further on the issue and help resolve it if the above doesn't help.

Regards,
Jamie

Thank you.

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.

[/quote]
To ensure minidumps are enabled:

Quote:
* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
* Reboot if changes have been made.

My wife's nephew picked up a virus that Avast had flagged as newgeneration.com/x/x and oldschoolzz.com/x/. I ran Malwarebytes, SuperAnti Spyware, and quarantined trojans that were found several times (also tried it in safe mode). They keep coming back so I was going to do a system recovery with the discs that I had burned when she first got her computer.

The system is not finding the 4th(last)disc that I place in the DVD drive. So I went back in to try to re-run the above programs and found out that all of the security programs (Malwarebytes, SuperAnti Spyware, and Avira) have been infected and the updates will not even work anymore.

This is an ASUS computer running Windows 7. I am trying whatever I can to get a resolution to this and any help would really be appreciated.

Thank You
Orlando

Most of the bugchecks are 124's, meaning its a hardware problem, but you have a few 116's, pointing to a video display/graphics card/driver issue.

Try the following:

1. Open the computer, and clean out any accumulation of dust, especially on the video card and fans.

2. Use this site to automatically detect if an updated driver is available for your video card, install it if one is available:

A:Wife Computer Rebooting Randomly Kernel Power 41

Hi .... and welcome to the forums
Can you check on a few system failure settings?
1) Right-click the Start Menu icon
2) Select System
4) In the "Startup & Recovery" section, select Settings
5) In the "System Failure" section, remove the check mark in the option box "automatically restart"
6) In the "Write debugging information" drop-down menu, select "small memory dump".
7) Select OK to save the changes and exit.

These changes will cause the computer to show a Blue Screen error, which will be handy if such errors are causing the restarts - and also to save a "minidump" file in the C:\Windows\Minidump folder. The error messages and minidumps can help track down the cause of the restarts.

Since there were two previous Critical errors (one in January and one in February .... then the sudden increase with six in the last three days) - if you can think of anything in common with the earlier episodes - that might provide a clue.

If the trouble produces Blue Screen errors, see if you can write them down & post them here. You can try a utility such as Who Crashed or Blue Screen View for a quick first try at identifying the suspects.

Could be anything from driver troubles, misbehaving apps, power supply problems, to overheating.

We'll stay tuned...

Hi again scott

-------------------------------------------

Read through this entire procedure and if you have any questions, please ask them before you begin. Then either print out, or copy this page to Notepad and save to your desktop for reference as you will not have any browsers open while you are carrying out portions of these instructions.

--------------------------------------------

I am sorry to tell you that one or more of the identified infections is a backdoor trojan / rootkit .

This type of infection allows hackers to remotely control your computer, log keystrokes, steal critical system information, and download and execute files without your knowledge.

If you do any banking or other financial transactions on the PC or if it should contain any other sensitive information, please get to a known clean computer and change all passwords where applicable, and it would be wise to contact those same financial institutions to apprise them of your situation. Please refer to Microsoft's Online Safety article for tips on creating a strong password.

Do not change passwords or do any transactions from the infected computer until it has been cleaned.

-------------------------------------------

My wife and I share the same computer. We have separate user accounts. When we right click on a music file on her side it gives us an error message saying that " Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to shut down ". Also if we highlight a file and click on a menu item it does the same thing. I have Winamp set up as the default music file program. It doesn't do this with other file types and it works fine on my side.

I recently re-setup all the software on our system and it has had this problem since I did this. Her side is set up with administrator rights also.

I was writing something and was mentioning idiots and my being one and I noticed that in the list of files in my emisoft firewall the dds I downloaded and tried to run says DDS doesn't do squat Which any fool knows a cell phone is like an android and and android is just a small version of a PC So although I may be a good legal theorist and an able logician with words I'm terrible at fixing computers But I know about certain things when I see them because my eyes don't lie But I need to run DDS and seem to have someone tagging along and need to fix that problem as well as the one's I caused by foolishly running combofix which found a whole mess of malware and I've known about the other idiot for a long time But this is my wife's computer and no matter who the idiot is she doesn't deserve people coming on this computer to spy on me Or to come onto if for any reason We do live here Which I've begged her to let me hire someone to fix this computer for some time but I only have late evenings to work on it and need some help getting a number of problems fixed Including what combofix found And the comment on the dds file I downloaded which I can't seem to run Can anyone help

A:Help me witha person tagging along on my wife's computer not wanted in our home

Ok I ran dds by trusting it but while I was doing that another process started that tried to run some Linux and old firewall apps that downloaded. The firewalls I have used on here but the other stuff that was created in a process named DDS.cmd I have blocked. But the is the log file. This is quite dangerous as I don't know what else he might do.

I have an HP laptop pavillion g series with windows 7. There are two users on this computer . When user #1 logs in the keyboard will not work at all. It will not type in the any of the progams (e-mails, documents, search fields.)The touchpad is just fine and the pointer is there.

When User #2 logs in the keyboard works just fine. I'm sure it must be a setting but I can't find anything.

A:Disabled keyboard?

Just letting your viewers know that I found the problem and fixed it myself. It was in the "Ease of Access" menu under Keyboards and Filter keys.

A:Keyboard disabled? Help

Welcome to TSF....

One of the other admins did something..... Sounds like you have this setup at a place of employment.... I had something similar happen to me where I worked, the solution is to take your parts out and then take them home and put the regular keyboard back on the computer, or find the admion that re-did your computer and have him undo his settings. My solution was to contact my supervisor and let him know about the down time to my computer and that I can not perform my job adequately and he took care of it and the person responsible got canned.....

The only person who can undo this is the admin who knows the password .....

Working with children is always fun......

Greetings And Welcome To The Forums!!My name is Gringo and I'll be glad to help you with your malware problems.I have put together somethings for you to keep in mind while I am helping you to make things go easier and faster for both of usPlease do not run any tools unless instructed to do so.
We ask you to run different tools in a specific order to ensure the malware is completely removed from your machine, and running any additional tools may detect false positives, interfere with our tools, or cause unforeseen damage or system instability. Please do not attach logs or use code boxes, just copy and paste the text.
Due to the high volume of logs we receive it helps to receive everything in the same format, and code boxes make the logs very difficult to read. Also, attachments require us to download and open the reports when it is easier to just read the reports in your post. Please read every post completely before doing anything.
Pay special attention to the NOTE: lines, these entries identify an individual issue or important step in the cleanup process. Please provide feedback about your experience as we go.

Has anyone experienced this? Being stuck with an on-screen keyboard after opening up the chromebook R11. I wasn't in tablet mode. If I put it into tablet mode and come back out, the keyboard still is disabled and I'm forced to use the on-screen keyboard. To get out of this situation, I have to reboot. I have no problems when  I go  in and out of tablet or tent mode on purpose, I can use the keyboard when I exit out of these modes.

I'm having the same problem and this is the 2nd CB R11 I've had. Each lasted about a week before I was locked out of the keyboard. I was hoping there was a setting or something but it goes directly to touchscreen mode when I click a text field (cell, google doc, etc.).  Rebooting fixes it temporarily but that's a little inconvenient.

Hi,

I have been recently getting the google redirect virus and have been using malware bytes to remove it. It seemed fine until I recently got a security update which I knew was a virus that said your computer has been infected and AV12 was running and finding all kinds of virus. I tried to immediatly run malware bytes but my screen became disabled. I then tried to reboot the computer but everytime I get to a screen, it says keyboard disabled in white letters in the top left and I cannot enter my username or password. I tried starting up in safe mode but this happens again. I am running windows xp and it is a HP notebook. I use this also for work so i am not sure where I could have contacted this because I am extremely careful with it. Does anyone have any suggestions?'
Thanks, Mike

I installed a new operating system (WinXP-SP2) and motherboard in a Compaq Presario 1800 notebook, and now it halts during POST with a 0211 Keyboard Error and a Save To Disk Not Found error. I have options to continue boot with F1 or enter Setup with F10. When I choose F10, it enters Setup, but I cannot access or change any of the settings. The keyboard is inactive except for the Function keys, and the Enter key appears to be disabled. When I choose F1, Windows continues to boot normally, but the only way I can enter text is to connect an external keyboard. I have tried two keyboards, so I don't think it is a keyboard hardware issue.

Any suggestions as to where my problem may be? Thanks. Ron

This morning my keyboard on my Vista Home Prem. wouldn't work. I replaced it with another USB keyboard, and then a new PS-2 KB...Still nothing. At that point I discovered none of my icons worked (mouse still works). Any icon, either on the desktop or in the control panel, when clicked doesn't bring up the program. What happens is, the window, showing the path, target, etc. pops up. After a second or two, the info in the target window is erased, and.NVM is inserted into that space.
I'm using Trend anti-virus, updated every time I turn on the computer, and scanned twice aweek. I've Googled and searched the virus databases, and can't come up with anything.
Can someone point me in the right direction

Hey I just purchased a manufacturer refurbished Toshiba laptop with Windows on it On initial startup and set up everything was looking Keyboard Disabled AND mousepad? fine I could type and move the Disabled Keyboard AND mousepad? mouse around Before the login screen though the computer started describing things through audio and selecting things randomly on the screen I didn't understand and just used enter and the arrow buttons to proceed I think I accidentally turned off my mousepad and keyboard though or toggled multiple things badly On the login screen I cannot type or see my mouse but it shows things typing much more than I actually do and occasionally it will go to the screen saver and back to the login screen There is also a bar on the side that pops up with a screen sharing selection I can tell the keyboard isn't working because the capslock does not light up when I press it Does anyone have any idea what I did or how to fix it Thanks
