Microsoft Office Word and Worksheet aren't working

Q: Microsoft Office Word and Worksheet aren't working

I looked around the forum a little but I didn t Microsoft Worksheet aren't working Office and Word see this problem mentioned I m sorry if this has been asked about before I m having a strange glitchy problem with Microsoft Word Microsoft Office Word and Worksheet aren't working and Microsoft Worksheet In Word when I try to cut or copy for some reason formatting won t carry over For instance if I try to copy an underlined word when I paste it somewhere the pasted copy won t be underlined This includes fonts too And for some reason I m unable to cut data in worksheets When I try it only copies the data and the usual black box that forms around the selection doesn t appear Worksheet isn t copying format either This seems a little haphazard Sometimes if I restart my computer they might work but this isn t always the case and I m afraid Microsoft Office Word and Worksheet aren't working that this solution is only temporary and it s a horrible solution that doesn t always work I use these programs a lot so this has been excruciatingly vexing I tried using the help service inside of the respective programs but they didn t offer any solutions I have the full versions of both and they ve worked fine for me for years until recently I would appreciate any suggestions Thanks in advance

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

“Microsoft word has stopped working”

This happens when:

Suddenly, I cannot open an: .rtf Microsoft Word document file.

It is an incoming file from a trusted source.

I can download the file, see the corresponding file images, then when I
click on an image, I get a message from Micosoft Word (with the yellow
triangle enclosing an exclamation point) which says: The server application,
source file or item cannot be found. Make sure the application is properly
installed, and that it has not been deleted, moved, or renamed.

Please help me open this file, it is a work-related file, and I've tried so
many times already.

Thanking you in advance.

A:.rtf Microsoft Word document files aren't opened

Was Office loaded on that machine at work?
If so it is my guess that one of two things is happening.

1) The Office dll that displays pictures is resident on the work network and is only loaded when it is needed - thus displaying that message.

2) A similar thing with the document that just the link (and thumbnail) to the pictures were included in the document. The actual pictures are still on the network.

I recently installed Microsoft Office 2013 and now when I click on a Word DOC or a PowerPoint slide presentation created in my previous Office edition (2010) I get a dialogue indicating that Windows can't open the DOCX file and asking if I want to use the Web or an installed program to open the file. I downloaded Microsoft's Compatibility Viewer for Word 2007, but I got the same dialogue box. Is there a program that can convert all of the Word DOCX and PowerPoint entries that I have at one time? System - Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit OS, 3 MB RAM, 1.86 GHz Intel Core 2 processor.

Problem - I click on the START icon, the go to the GAMES, the only one that works properly is Chess Titans. None of the others (like Mah Jong, Minesweeper, Hearts, Solitaire) run properly. When I try to play, it looks like they are starting, then a pop-up message appears (see attached screenshot as an example). It doesn't give any solution to this problem despite what the message says. Why the chess game works and none of the others is mystifying. I am no computer wiz and would like to know how to fix this, if it is fixable. Thanks.

A:Microsoft games that came with computer aren't working

I would try going to Control Panel > Programs and Features > Windows Components...

Uninstall all the games.

Click OK all the way out, then reboot.

Now repeat the process, only this time re-enable the ones you want.

If that doesn't work then you'll need to take other steps, so post back and someone will help

I recently installed the Microsoft Office 2010 Beta, but this morning its intro screen stays stuck at "Starting Microsoft Office Click-to-Run." Googling it resulted in only two threads, neither of them having the answer.

I'm back to using Office 2007, by simply setting my Word and Excel documents to open by Office 2007 by default, but now my Word and Excel icons have become much less pretty, such as my Word icons becoming a very plain "DOCX" icon instead of the normal "blue W" icon. I checked, and the file types are still regular Word documents. Is there a way to get the pretty icons back?

A:Office 2010 Problems: "Starting Microsoft Office Click-to-Run" & Unattractive DOCX icons for Word documents.

Regarding changing the icon:
Go to either My Computer or Windows Explorer.
Click Tools, Folder Options, File Types tab.
Scroll down to the DOCX file type (file types are in alphabetical order), click on it one time to highlight it.
Click the Advanced button.
The "Edit File Type" screen appears.
There is a Change Icon button in the top right area.
Click the Change Icon button.
You should have other icon choices to pick from.
Side note: If you don't like any of those icons, you can always hit the Browse button,
and browse to where other icons are, (you can assign any icon to any file type that you want, it is a matter of personal preference).
Icons are found in .exe files (executables), some (not all) .dll (dynamic link library) files, and .ico files.

Hi.

Do Word troubleshooting, and pay particular attention to the bit about Startup folders and renaming normal.dot.

Oops. Almost forgot the link! www.theofficeexperts.com/word.htm

Also, if you can get in, go to Tools-Templates and Addins and see if anything is checked in the larger white box. If so, uncheck it and restart Word to see if that takes care of it. Do this one first.

A:MicroSoft Office Word

Under Borders and Shading Options - Page Border - Options - set the "Measure from:" to "Text", not the default "Edge of page"

Its a very common problem, as printers just cannot print very close to the bottom of the page (as they need to feed the paper from this area, so cannot print on it)

Hello,

I have used Microsoft Office 97's Word Program for years and just got a new computer, so I had to install another Microsoft Office 97 Word disc onto my computer.

When I look at the Table Options though, some of the options on the appearance of the tables are missing. Which of course, were my 3 favorite ones that I always used.

Does anybody know how to add more options?

About every hour I get this message on my computer in a dialog box:

I try to close it and another window pops up:

I do not have a Microsoft Word cd, nor have I ever had. I don't want it either. I just want the pop up window to stop as it is very annoying.

Hi,

I've opened a document (.doc file) with Microsoft Office Word 2007.
The document is all written in Hebrew, and I have the Hebrew Language Pack that I've downloaded using Windows Vista's Windows Update application.

So, back to Word 2007.

For some reason, the "Find" button, located in Home>> Editing, is grayed.

When I click the "Find button, two options show up, and the first of them is grayed and I can't select it:

"Find..."
"Go To..."Click to expand...

Why is it grayed?
I just want to find a few words, and I don't understand why such simple action is not possible.

Hi All of a sudden microsoft word will not open properly. I get the page with the hourglass but it doesn't open to a fresh page for typing and I cannot open any of my documents either. I have tried system restore but didn't have a point far enough back for it to work. I have tried reinstalling from a disk I had from my old computer, but it doesn't work either.
I don't know why it would suddenly just stop working, it keeps telling me to report the problem, which I have done endlessly.
I am on XP using an admittedly old version of Word (2000) but it has always worked just fine before.
Can anyone help me with this please? Many thanks.

Looks like the excel doc and word are on different versions of office (ie one maybe 2000 and one 2007)

there are two ways you could resolve this....

1st one is save the excel doc as the same version as word ie 2003 0r 2007 etc

2nd one is download a converter from Microsoft...I have one but i'm not sure if this is the same version

If you're using office 97, according to microsoft, one possibility is that outlook is journalizing your other office documents. They say to start outlook and under tools / options / journal clear all the check boxes under 'also record files from' list. They say this can cause files to close slowly even if outlook isn't running.

Sorry on the go

But all it is. Is that you have size 10 and then size 22 after it

And when you backspace the 22 size it stays 22 until you make it size10 again
As for that little dot, it must be the font at that size, or something

Can anyone help with the complete use of envelope printing in Microsoft Offce Word 7.

I use it quite a bit with no problem but sometimes if , for example , I have a fairly lengthy address with say 6 lines instead of 4 or 5 , I can find that the bottom of the characters on the last line are not completed.

Or , I can have 5 lines of address followed by a blank line with a final line underneath ( say the DX code number) and the final line is missed off altogether even though I have highlighted it with the cursor.

Hope that you can understand all that.

Regards ................ with hope !

A:Using Envelope printing in Microsoft Office Word 7

Hi zantelover,
It sounds like the specified height for text on envelopes is not high enough for the number of lines you're using. You need to change the style to incorporate more space. Try this and see if it helps.

Hi Sallysara,

if you go to Add/Remove Programs, (Start, Control Panel or (My Computer Then Control Panel) The Double Click On Add/Remove Programs, Then Go Down To Microsoft Office) Click On Change Then A New Window Will Open And Click On Repair. That Should Work. If Not Put You Windows Disk In And When It Opens Click On Repair.

That Should Sort It. If Not Just Message Here Again

In both Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel, when I do a "File, Open" command, a box comes up showing the contents of the last directory I used. If I then attempt to use the drop down from this box to navigate to a new directory, it takes 65 seconds before the drop down list appears, and then another 30-40 seconds before the drop-down menu responds to my request for a new directory.

I have uninstalled and re-installed Microsoft office, and I have run the "detect and repair" option in the help menu. Nothing seems to fix the problem. I have no idea why this is happening or what Microsoft Office is doing during those 65 seconds to produce the drop down list and during the following 30-40 seconds to navigate to a requested directory in the drop down list.

I do not have this problem with other applications such as Lotus 123.

Any ideas?

I'm using an Asus Laptop K52F running Window 7 with 4 GB RAM. Suddenly the Microsoft Office 2003 has developed a problem whereas I can not save, and/or open/close various files. When I open Word to a blank page I get the message "Windows cannot open the existing (normal). When I try to close it I get different messages that I don't understand concerning saving to "normal" "yes/no", etc. then finally closes to my desktop. I uninstalled the program and then reinstalled to only get the same thing happening. Is this repairable and are there any options to fix/resolve? Thanks

A:Solved: open office/microsoft word

You got it save it as a Word Document in Open Office. If you opened it and then resaved it in Open Office it may have saved it as an Open Office file type instead of a Microsoft Word File Type. I know there is a way to make Open Office to default to saving as a Word Document. Just look thru the settings. So your first step to investigate is too see what file type OpenOffice is saving as by default.

Hello there.

Microsoft office 2003 problem.
When starting microsoft word on vista ulitmate, there seems to be a problem

This will automatically shut down, saying there was a problem and is shutting down...
The other programs seem fine, Excel, powerpoint, etc.

I havent a clue what this could be, has anyone else had this problem.
In the top right corner of microsoft word it will say "Finalizing Installation" and then after you type a couple of sentences it will shut down on its own..

This is for a friend of mine, who had microsoft office put on when she bought the laptop of a friend, though she does not have the disk, so i wondered if this is an installation problem.

Would this be some sort of copy of microsoft office 2003, that was put on for her
She has only found this out now as her son needs to use word for school
( vista ultimate, 64 bit, sp2)

A:Microsoft office 2003/ Problem with Word

I assume that you're opening up Word from the Start menu here...

Open up the Start Menu and go to Word. Right-click on it. Open up its Compatability tab which is the third tab.

2003 is an XP product. Therefore, Word (and Excel and Access if they're 2003 versions) should be run in compatibility mode for "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)."

If this is not so, check the box and select Windows XP from the list to make it so amd OK the box to close it.

See if it runs now.

A:Microsoft Office Word 2003 problem

I have seen several suggestions for dealing with this problem, some work for some people, others don't and
some of them are potentially destructive, in my opinion, therefore I do not propose to supply any links.

However, I will tell you that I had the same problem recently. I run Office 2003 Professional Edition and
downloaded the Office 2007 trial. It was not for me and I uninstalled it. My problems then started,
with these 'Please wait while Windows configures' messages.

I tried all the usual 'repair' methods, but the only thing which fixed the problem was a complete
uninstall and reinstall of Office 2003. That would be my only suggestion and in addition,
I left the setup files on my hard disk, when asked, because there are some features that are not
immediately installed by the program, even on a full install and it saves digging out the CD/DVD
whenever you come across these features. (Don't remember too clearly which ones, I think it
may have been in connection with Publisher).

I appreciate this may be stating the obvious. If you can find an easier method, which you trust,
good luck.

btw, I am assuming that your computer is virus, adware, malware and spyware free.
You should run something like Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpware if you haven't
checked recently; presumably you have a realtime antivirus scanner.

A:Microsoft Office Word Spell Check Help

Hi what you need to do is go into word then on the pretty Office button top left hand corner click on it and go down to the bottom where is says word options and exit word. Now click on Word options and check the Proofing options as they're set by default not to check cetain words look at second panel down it says When correcting spelling in Microsoft Office, also try checking the one underneath and change any that you find could be stopping your document from being spell checked.

Hope this helps as always run spell check over anything I do especially if late at night and getting extra tired.

When I exit MS Office 2007 Word a pane appears that says "Word has stopped working and will search for a solution" (which is never found) followed by "Word is re-starting." After the re-start, I'm able to exit Word without further messages or difficulty. This is more of a nuisance than anything else but I have the impression that the program (at least the version I have) may be somewhat unstable.

I've looked for a solution on the MS Support Web site to no avail and wonder if anyone else has had a similar experience with this program.

My O/S is Vista Home Premium; the MS Office 2007 is the Student and Teacher Edition; my computer is an HP Pavilion a6345f.

Greetings,

I'm a former IT Systems Technician, and my girlfriend is a work-from-home writer. I've recently migrated her PC's original processor and ram from an HP motherboard to an ASRock board, linking the original WD Caviar Blue 1TB drive to the board as a secondary drive to collect documents and storage from, while running Windows 8.1 (up to date) on a Seagate Barracuda 250GB for the main OS and programs drive.

With those specs out there in the open, now it's time to get to the root of the problem.

As a work-from-home writer, my girlfriend depends on the ability to save her documents to Microsoft's OneDrive and upload them to her publisher, but with this error showing up, she cannot get them to save. I have never seen such a message in my many years of IT service, and I'm completely baffled.

I am the administrator... So now I turn to you guys for help.

A:Associate .doc and .docx with Microsoft office word 2007.

Hi Frank,

Seems that these Office doc's attributes are really sent to try us

Not sure from your post if you have followed the exact procedure, in your first method, that worked with the XLS files? - rather than select the Microsoft Word option from the available programs list, browse to the winword.exe file which should be in the same area as the excel.exe file from previous.

If this does not help there is another method, in the control panel - uninstall programs - you should be able to right click on the Microsoft Office entry and select Change, then repair, which should fix this and any other issues

another option would be to select change, and without actually changing anything proceed through the procedure, (basically this would re-install office over the top of itself.

This is in an enterprise, and if we were to repair the Word File, We would have to do it on all 18 computers on said domain.

Is there an alternative?

Hello,

I'm in the middle of creating a letter head template and I have made a basic form template with 'Restrict Formatting and Editing' on. Now, it was working fine... then I came up against a hurdle. I was given instructions that there was to be no editing allowed to the size, colour or font of the text -- apart from the fact that I've to allow italics, bold, underline, strikeout and obviously normal font.

I tried doing this by simply setting it only to allow specific styles (namely the ones above just in style) but it changes the entire paragraph/line and not only just one word.

Is there anyway to allow someone to embolden etc a single word and not a full section of text when using a style?

Thanks in advance.

Edit: I am using Microsoft Office Word 2007.

Hi all,
I just switched OS from XP Media Center 2005 SP3 to Vista Home Premium SP1 x64. I moved all of my MS Word files over to the new OS. Now I need to know if I can install my copy of 2003 Word on Vista x64 and have it run properly, and open my 2003 Word files. MS Office 2007 Home/Student comes with EXcel and PP which I would never use and would be a waste of money for me.
Any information on this would be most appreciated.
Thanks,
Jakeman97

it should work fine. you will have to reinstall any office updates and/or service packs, though.

I'm trying to help a co-worker here who just got a new laptop with MS Office 2010 & MS Word 2007 on it. She has a previously created document (MS Word 2003, I think) and is trying to check and uncheck checkboxes. This used to be under view/toolbars/forms, but as we all know, that is no longer the case with MS Word 2007. The problem is whatever I have searched tells me to click on the Microsoft Office Button, go to options, categories, developer tab, etc., but the problem is the Microsoft Office Button is no where to be found! I've tried everything! She just has file, etc., nothing, no little logo, nothing to the very left.

What am I missing?

Thanks for the help!

A:Cannot Open Microsoft Office Files; Word Docs Appear as Symbols

Update--I'm starting to think that one of my antiviruses cleaned out the virus because nothing is showing up, but my documents are still corrupted.  I deleted my normal.dotm file, and also scanned my C Drive for errors so I could revert to my backup from November 18, but everything is still corrupted.  I would like to know if 1) I got the virus, or if it is still lying dormant in my system somewhere; 2) if my computer is safe to use; and 3) if there is any way to get my documents back!
Thanks.

Hello,
This forum helped me a lot in the past and i hope someone can help me this time aswell.
I used to have a problem with blue screens on my toshiba laptop running vista. That problem was solved. However, since then microsoft office word 2007 is not working properly anymore. Whenever i try to save, open or close a file the program stops responding and crashes. I tried uninstalling microsoft office, scaning the computer registry with regsupreme pro and cleaning it and then reinstalling microsoft office but the problem persists.
The problem is only with microsoft word, all other office programs work fine.
My best guess is that something went wrong with some system file.
I have absolutely no idea what to do. If anyone can help me somehow i would appreciate it.
My last resort is formatting the computer which i would like to avoid.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

I see that no one has an idea yet on how to help me. Maybe this additional info will help:
1) i started word in safe mode and it works fine only while using safe mode. I started uninstalling programs with word adding with no luck in pinpointing the problem yet. Are there any tools to troubleshoot faulty addins? or anything that would help?
2) here is the last crash report:

On Microsoft Word 2010, when you go to either the Open or Save as dialog boxes, you see a folder tree called "Microsoft Word", under which in my computer has Templates. In Microsoft Excel, it has a similar affect, showing "Microsoft Excel". I want to remove this tree from view, and ONLY want to see "Computer" (or "This PC" on Windows 8.1). Is this possible, and if so, how?

Can this be done locally and/or through group policy?

A:BSOD opening Microsoft office WORD 2007 or Adobe Reader 11

Hi Tapsee.

Do you have CenterTools DriveLock? If so, uninstall it, at least as a test.

If you dont have it, then I would say that a stray crash dump is not enough to debug an issue. Post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions.

So let us know the results.

I have a document in Microsoft Office Word 2007 that has information in the header that I would like repeated in the footer.

Essentially, I have two strings of text in the header. One is the name of the document and the other is the date it was created. I would like these two strings to be automatically inserted in to a specific spot in the footer each time they are updated in the header.

Is this possible, and, if so, can someone please tell me how to do it?

How can I get a dictionary to use to look up definitions of words in the Research tab in Microsoft Office Word 2007? My Word 2010 on another computer has an Encarta Dictionary give me definitions of words when I alt + click on a word, but I can't find a way to get the dictionary in Word 2007 on my laptop, even when I click on "Research options..." there's only a Thesaurus. Please help.

A:How can I get a dictionary to use to look up definitions of words in the Research tab in Microsoft Office Word 2007?

I had never done that before - but I have word 2007 so I gave it a try.
From the Research tab - I put the word I wanted in the searchfor box.
The drop down box below that gave me several selections - inlcuding Encarta dictionary I did not do anything to get it there.
It seemed to work ok.
So you are saying you do not have dictionayr selection in the drop down box?

I recently had to purchase a new computer because my old one crapped out. I had Window XP on it and had purchased Microsoft Office Standard (xp version) so I could get Word, Excel and Outlook. Later I purchased another Microsoft Office, XP CD so I could install Publisher. My new computer came with Vista Home Premium. Can I download these applications on my new computer with the Vista operating system or do I need to go by new version of these applications that are Vista compatible? Thanks! Rich

Hi There

I have MS Office XP but in Word all the bullets looks like clock face and other strange shapes. I tried to uninstall/re-install the MS Office but even then they were not working properly. On MS website it says "try re-installing the fonts" but it does not say anything how? Any help would be appreciated in this regard. Thanks

A:Ms Office Word Bullets Not Working

Open up a document with these characters. Go to Format, Bullets and Shading. On the Bulleted tab, one of your choices should be selected (probably the first one - looks like a filled in black dot). Click on Customize, then Font. I will guess that it shows your font to be Webdings - and shows a clockface in the preview panel. Change the font to Symbol.

Hi, What is your computer ? Nearly all pre-installed Microsoft Office versions on new computers are trial versions and they will die after 30 or 60 days unless users pay Microsoft to get proper activation keys.  Please use the following instructions to find out the model/product of your machine:  http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00033108Regards.
