I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

You didn't state the problem very clearly but if I guess, I'd say you neglected to install the graphics driver. If so, I'd guess that you may have forgotten to install the chipset, sound and LAN drivers too.

Hey, I wanted to put some new games on my Laptop, and I got the Direct X 9.0c Compatible Graphics Adapter message. So I went online, and was instructed to go onto Device Manager and I found I had Standard VGA Graphics Adapter, so then I got some kind of update checker and it looked through my hardware and found that my Graphic Adapter needed updating...

I have already put some of the games I want on my laptop before now, and un-installed them when I ran out of space, and now I have more space I want to put them back on.

I tried a link for the Update, but it told me to use Windows Update, but it doesn't seem to work.

Does anyone know a free way of updating Standard VGA Graphics Adapter?

That would be helpful x :grinthumb

Hi there, so I just installed windows 7 on my friend's computer. Previously they had a ATI graphics card (not sure which version) but now it says it has a Standard VGA Graphics Adapter. Because of this, the resolution isn't displayed correctly and everything is enlarged. This is very annoying. Can anyone help please?? >-<

After reinstalling windows vista OS 64bit on my dell studio xps 1640, I reinstalled all the drivers that were on dell resource cd that came with my laptop. On my device manager there is still a yellow triangle with an exclimation mark next to Standard VGA Graphics adapter. I used to be able to use 1920x1080 screen resolution; however, the highest option now is currently 1400x1050 pixels and it reads default monitor on display settings instead of having HD Radeon 4670 option as it did before. My grahpics card is a radeon HD 4670. Could anyone possibly tell me what drivers I would need to download and install in order to get my screen resolution back to 1920x1080 and resolve the VGA adapter problem? I have gone to the dell driver website; however, the standard vga graphics adapter does not seem to be under the video drivers? thank you for your time and help guys >.<

Hello. I put Windows 7 on my friends computer since he wanted me to, so I installed it. But there was one problem. His resolution is stuck at 640x480. It said he is running from a Standard VGA Graphics Adapter. His computer is fairly old, but all of the hardware is pretty good except for the video card. I brought him my old 7700 GTS for him to use for the time being, but I cannot install the drivers for it, and the computer still says he is running Standard VGA Graphics Adapter.

A:Standard VGA Graphics Adapter

first try a driver uninstaller, I don't know any generic ones but i'm sure either somebody can post that or you can google it. if that doesn't work off the bat try the following....

uninstalling in devmgmt (do not delete driver files) and then run driver install as administrator. if that doesn't work try the same thing in safe mode. If that doesn't work try clearing cmos and then installing drivers. though if you clear cmos you might have to manually set it up or do optimized configuration.

Hey all, I just finished a clean install of Windows 7 and now my graphics card is unread by windows. I had this problem before and I was able to fix it, but this time my card is an ATI Radeon. I know I have to have a modified .inf file, but I don't know how to do that.

Here is the information on my laptop:
Model: Sony Vaio VPCEB390X
OS: Win7 x32
Graphics Card: ATI Radeon 5650 (not 100% sure though)

How do I get the correct driver install?

Thanks in advance!!

A:Standard VGA Graphics Adapter!!

If i am understanding your post correctly, I would download Speccy and verify your card model number, after that its simply a matter of going to ATI's driver download webpage here and choosing the correct driver for your card.

Hi,

I have recently formatted my harddisk and reinstalled windows 98SE. I nolonger have the CD's or floppy disks that contain display drivers or grahic adapter drivers. I am trying to change my screen resolution from 16bit colour 640x480 to
256 colour and 1024x768 resolution - I dodn't have the option to do this.

My graphic files are very hazy. I assume that I have to re-install my video/graphics card drivers.

Can anyone please tell me how I can find out what type of video/graphics card I have and if I can download the drivers I require off the internet.

Many thanks for your assistance.

Probably nothing. You just need a driver for your card from Nvidia.

I come up with a Nvidia 9200m graphics card. You can also try using this program to help with filling in your system specs. Speccy - System Information - Free Download

If your locking for the driver for it I would first try the manufacturers site since they sometimes modify the .inf file and it can cause you problems when trying to install the one directly from Nvidia

Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers

If you have any problems installing the driver the normal way by clicking on the setup.exe file, then post back.
Their are other ways to get it installed.

Hi, I just installed Windows 7 Professional 64x. Previously, I had 32-bit Vista Ultimate.

I have a Dell Precision M90, with 4 gigs of ram, a 2.00 GHz core duo processor, and a Nvidia Quadro FX 2500M video card.

In the device manager, my display adapter shows as Standard VGA Graphics Adapter. I'm decent with computers, so I've upgraded video card drivers before. However, for some reason it is not allowing me to upgrade this driver. I have tried with both a 2500M driver as well as a 7900GTX driver (which worked for me in Vista).

I have also tried uninstalling the driver first, but it won't let me install another one before restarting and when I restart it just reinstalls the Standard VGA Graphics adapter. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

A:Standard VGA Graphics Adapter

What kind of games are you trying to play?

The laptop you have I think uses the NVIDIA GeForce Go 7150M Graphics Chipset. This onboard chipset will not enable you to play most modern day 3D games.

As to the Aero effects, these are the minimum system requirements:

1. a 1 GHz 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
2. 1 GB of system memory (512MB sometimes works)
3. a DirectX 9 compatible graphics processor with a Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM)driver, Pixel shader 2.0 in hardware, and a minimum of 128 MB of Video RAM
32 bits per pixel
4. 40 GB hard drive with 15 GB free space
5. DVD-ROM Drive
6. Audio output and Internet access (preferably broadband)

Here is a review on your IGP.

Hi

I have an Acer Aspire 8930G. It's GFx card died a year or so ago, and I just bought a new one, a NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT DDR3 MXM II, from eBay.
When my laptop worked, it had Vista installed. So naturally I upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate.

Now windows 7 has been installed, all updates been installed. All but one. the nVidia driver.

I can't seem to install it. I have searched the net for solutions. Found some, but couldn't go on.
Fx. tried to add some lines in the drivers .inf files. Put a line with my hardwares ID, but my hardware lacked some digits.

Anyways... I'm stuck with standard VGA graphics adapter. Today's the sixth day on trying to find a solution, and I'm about ready to boil my balls just to feel anything else but frustration.

Can anyone please help me?

Hi there,

Just done a clean install of windows 7 on my Sony VPN-SZ5VWN and it has installed all drivers apart from the display.

It has a nVidia Go 7400 however when I try to install it it just states there is no nividia products.

If I try to uninstall the VGA driver, it asks me to restart and then, before I can do anything, it reinstalls the standard VGA adapter driver. I do get a solution saying to download the driver however this does not work.

The original drivers are for Vista and Sony provides no other supported OS for them.

Please help!

My real question is, is the GeForce Graphics card in the puter or is the Standard VGA Graphics Adapter actually a very slow card and someone has taken the GeForce card out?

A:Standard VGA Graphics Adapter??

What laptop?

Some have dual gpu's.. the onboard intel on associaed with the cpu, and a dedicated on like a nvidia or amd/ati.

Its a power savings type thing, where in low graphics/power saving it'll run the intel and gaming runs the dedicated.

Theses tye of systems requires the driver to come from alienware/dell.

Hello. I recently restored the computer to factory settings and the graphics card won't work now. Before the restore it was working just fine but now I am stuck on the Standard VGA Graphics Adapter. The graphic card that I have I think it's a "ATI Raedon HD 5450 Series Graphic". I have already tried updating it and can't get it to work either. Here is a link for information about the computer, HP Support document - HP Support Center

And here are some pictures of what's going on.
(by the way, I haven't installed, removed, or touched anything inside the computer)
(the hardware acceleration slider is all the way to the right, the full position)

I have searched EVERYWHERE and read all threads and articles on this subject to no success Most of the time the answers are install new drivers or manually install drivers through driver gt update quot but I can t do either of these things After fresh install of windows bit sp on Graphics Standard Cannot solve Adapter VGA a toshiba satellite s d-s I was going to install drivers as usual - I came across the display driver as quot Standard VGA Graphics Adapter quot - So I thought okay so I just have to update and install driver for AMD Vision A It is a ATI Radeon HD G I know this is the right card I used AMD Catalyst auto detect I googled hardware ids And also I remember this card from before I had Cannot solve Standard VGA Graphics Adapter to format the computer I used an official windows install Cannot solve Standard VGA Graphics Adapter disc as well When it comes to trying to uninstall the driver it always reinstalls itself as soon as I turn the system on - I have tried disabling automatic device installation to prevent this to no success And when I try installing the Catalyst stuff it ends up giving me a message like quot graphics adapter not supported quot or could not install because of the graphics adapter etc Basically I am trying to reinstall the drivers and its only picking up standard vga graphics adapter not the Radeon HD G But it is definitely there Have also tried safe mode I really am at a loss at what to do this is really a pain as I cannot load any games on the computer nbsp

Can you say what your PC is? Make/model ?
Which Windows version are you using?
If you are not sure exactly what the graphics are then you can download this small program to give you info about it.
http://download.cnet.com/GPU-Z/3000-2094_4-10788513.html
You will need to visit the makers website to download the correct driver, when you have the information.

Hello,

do you guys know where I can download a driver of my graphics card for windows 7 ultimate 32 bit?
I already searched on the net but sadly.. I couldn't find a driver for it. I also tried to update it but still no use.

here is the screenshot

A:Standard VGA Graphics Adapter driver

Without the exact graphics card model we can't really say. However, if its old and all that is available is the generic Windows installed VGA driver, you may be stuck with that.

I'm on Windows 7 Professional 64 bits
My motherboard has an onboard graphics card that works just fine. I installed an old PCI graphics card in order to use more monitors (TNT2 Riva by NVidia). The card is so old that it doesn't have a driver for Windows 7 64bits (it seems that it works in 32 bits)
As a result Windows 7 uses a "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter" as the driver, the monitor and card works but it wont let me go above 1024x780, is there any way to force a higher resolution in this driver? Both my monitor and card can support it

My graphic card, an integrated GeForce 8600M GT, only shows up as a "Generic Non-PnP Monitor on Standard VGA Graphics Adapter". The computer cant even run the screen saver.

It seems to me that Windows 7 fails to find my graphic card. When i try to install the drivers from Nvidia the install stops ans says that my hardware do not support the driver.

Hello, I have a Aspire AX3950 that came with Windows 7 Home. I had to re-image the machine to Windows 7 Professional so I could install Visual Studio 2013. I got the software from my MSDN Subscription. After successfully reimaging the machine, the system only recognizes one of my monitors. It was working properly with the same two monitors before the windows update. I checked the Display Adapter and it shows "Standard VGA Graphics Adaper". It was my mistake for not checking the adapter before updating the system. From what I have found on the internet, this AX3950 has a graphic card coupled with the mother board. My question is, how can I get the original Display adapter working again?

mahlulu22, welcome to the Seven Forums.

For the drivers you need you have to go to Toshiba,

Drivers & Software Support | Toshiba

You will need the full model number for your laptop. While there also look for chipset drivers, and if available get them and install before the video driver.

A:Standard VGA Graphics Adapter - Sony Vaio

I would start with re-installing the video drivers, both of them. From looking at the specs for that model laptop (click on Marketing Specifications to view the pdf),

Sony eSupport - VGN-SZ230P - Manuals / Specs / Warranty

it has both the Intel 950 (chipset Intel 945GM) and the Nvidia Go 7400, If that is in fact what it has I would start with the Intel driver first,

? Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator Driver for Windows* 7(exe)

and then install the Nvidia driver second (it's a beta, looks like Nvidia dropped support for it),

NVIDIA DRIVERS 179.48 BETA

They may not install as Sony is somewhat anal about allowing manufacturer's reference drivers to be used without them (Sony) first doing whatever it is they do to the INF's (they can't mod the drivers themselves, just the INF's).

If neither of those work you can try the Sony provided Vista drivers from ehre,

I recently purchased it, and have since found out that it will not recognize the Graphics card, and will
instead use Windows' default "Standard VGA Adapter". I have downloaded multiple drivers, but none seem to work. As such, I cannot play games that require "OpenGL Acceleration". Would very much appreciate help.

I was unable to play League of Legends when an error message showed up,
"An unknown DirectX error has occurred and League of Legends cannot start. Please make sure your video card is using the latest video drivers from the manufacturer."

I've tried downloading Microsoft DirectX? End-User Runtime, but that did not work either.

In an attempt to update my video drivers from amd, its auto detect method failed to recognize any of my (video) drivers.

I had considered installing a driver manually, however i am afraid that may risk my laptop to function properly.

Can anyone please find a compatible driver for me?

I left an attachment of the information from a run from dxdiag.

A:Standard vga graphics adapter wont remove or update

Hi Everloned,

The Standard VGA graphics driver is just a basic windows driver that your system uses if it is unable to locate the correct driver for your graphics card. Usually one would simply install the manufacturer's drivers for your graphics card.

What version of Windows 7 are you running, 64bit or 84bit? If so, try downloading this: AMD Catalyst

Small correction on that, it's the drivers for the Motherboard components that you need. There appears to be more to the model number such as Toshiba Satellite L50D-B-124 as an example, will help in finding the correct drivers.

Hi guys. I have recently rebooted my laptop to vista from xp pro. everything was working fine until i rebooted it.Here's my specs.....
Toshiba Qosmio G20
2.0 intel processor
Nvidia Geforce 6600 128mb memory
1.5 gb ram
two 80 gb raid harddrives

I tracked down all the drivers and have installed them all in device manager. the only one thats not working was nvidia. i look under display adapters and it reads as standard vga graphics adapter. ive tryed updating the driver with the nividia 6600 driverbut it says the best one is all ready installed foryou. uninstall driver reboots your computer and when it starts back up it auto installs standard vga graphics adapter. since it doesnt read it anymore the games ive got wont run or go fast.on xp i had lots of games installed and it was working then. i cant try and reinstall it on xp as i need too get the raid drivers to install.

Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

I shouldn't worry too much about Windows installing drivers for the VGA adapter.

What you need to do is download NVIDIA's driver for your GTX 560 and save it to your hard drive.

Next, right-click the downloaded driver's .exe file and choose Run as Administrator.

You'll be offered a quick install and a custom install so choose the custom option.

The installer will uninstall the VGA adapter driver and clean install the GTX 560 driver.

When it's done reboot your computer and you should be good to go,

A:Computer uses "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter" instead of my GeForce

Hi, Welcome to Seven forums.

Download the required driver software that matches your hardware definition. Save a copy of the drivers in a safe place, in case you accidentally happen to delete them from your PC.

0. Disconnect from internet and Disable your anti-virus program and before going to step number 1 (Important)

1. Boot computer in SAFE mode (press F8 during restart)

2. Extract the Driver software .ZIP completely to extract all folders. Extract the .EXE also.

3. Go to Device Manager

4. Select Display adapter (in this case it reads 'Standard VGA Graphics Adapter' that need to change to 'Geforce')

5. Right click and select Properties, select update driver

6. In the update dialog select 'Browse my computer fro driver software'

7. In the Next dialog window, select 'Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer'.

8. In the Select driver dialog, pick on 'Have Disk'

9. Browse to the folder you extracted the ZIP file earlier (locate the '.inf' file) The .INF file would be located in the Packages>Drivers>Display>XXX_INF.

10. Run the installation, and you are done!!!

11. Restart the computer in normal mode.

12. Enable Anti-virus programs.

Keep us posted.

After uninstalling the Standard VGA Adapter and manually erasing any remnants of old graphic drivers by using Driver Fusion, I attempted to reinstall the standard NVIDIA driver as recommended by DriverAgent. After downloading and attempting to install, I received a message from NVIDIA that my system was 32 not 64 bit (wrong), and installation was discontinued at that point. A VGA Driver was automatically re-installed at the next boot-up. Yet the Standard VGA driver (not the GeForce driver) still shows a configuration problem in "Manage" and I have been unsuccessful in reinstalling a new driver for it.

I otherwise have no visual problems with my monitors.
The Event Viewer does not seem to list any problems with a recent Chkdsk.
I have attached the logs which note the error.

Could it be something else or a hardware failure?

A:Standard VGA Graphics Adapter reports "tv_ConfigMgrErr14"

hi,

I really suggest you to uninstall DriverAgent. These software which search drivers for your system are really bad.
Remove any type of driver and manually download the Nvidia driver from Nvidia site. Also try different versions of drivers.
Run the driver setup program as administrator.

It's stuck on "standard vga graphic adapter".
I have the AMD Radeon HD7570 card but no matter what I try is not working!!!
tried to uninstall the current driver, tried to download the driver from the AMD website (when executing it - it's running but does nothing).
when executed the auto detect from AMD website, I got the message "we were unable to find your product or OS"

Will be greatful for any help!!!
Thanks a lot!!!

A:display adapter is stuck on standard vga adapter

Welcome to the Sevem Forums, Oraz.

If you still have the DVD of Windows 7 home edition and if it is also 64-bit then you might find the graphics adapter driver there which might get installed. Otherwise try installing Graphics Card AMD Radeon HD7570 in Windows XP SP3 mode.

Another option is to try installing the Graphics Card AMD Radeon HD7570 that you have downloaded in the safe mode. In case the this driver gets loaded in the safe mode then it shall install too.

A:Trying to get RID of Standard VGA Adapter

First, you're going to have to help us figure out what a, "Tosinv" is? Where did you buy the machine? What's the make and model number?

Googling Tosinv doesn't lead me anywhere... and (just a guess), there is no SB 600 on Toshiba's site.

Hello,
I just installed Windows 7 RC1 32-bit OS onto my laptop. Without thinking i needed any drivers, i went to play World of Warcraft. It told me that it could not locate a display device and wouldn't work. I figured i needed to install my grpahics card drivers for my Nvidia 9 series card. When i went to install the drivers, an error message appeared saying that it could not locate drivers compatible with my device. I went to dxdiag and under display it shows that i have a standard vga adapter and won't recognize my actual graphics card. I'm not sure if i'm missing drivers, i haven't installed anything else except for this attempt at installing the nvidia driver. Please assist, thank you.

Hello guys, I've posted here about something similar to which I solved thanks to your good help But now there's something I need to clarify. My PC, back in October had a incident that I don't want to go over which caused my repairer to replace the Graphics card. I lost Aero (simulating it now with Transbar and TrueTransparency). What boots up when I start the PC shows the card as: SIS True Color 16 Bit PCI or some stuff life that.. I downloaded CPU-Z and put my latest specifications in my system specs.. so click em! See if you could help me verify the graphics driver or anything, the previous one was a NVIDIA GeForce one. It also shows my monitor as Generic PnP

A:Standard VGA Adapter problem.

Hi IngestedFool, I thought you had solved this problem when you switched cables ? The SIS card you have is only 16bit meaning it will not support aero which needs directx 9 and above I personnally think its time for a new later model of GFX card that will support aero , Is there anywhere else you acn go to purchase from and not the same person who put the older GFX card in for you ?

on two other Dell Opti desktops I have the opposite issue: They only have the small size IDE header, but I have a device that needs a fullsize connector.

Am I looking for an adapter that has male/male on each side, mini & standard? Or is there a cable out there, female on each end, that has fullsize on one and small/micro/mini on the other?

I recently reinstalled win 98se on a hp pavilion 6333 comp. now I cannot change the screen resolution off of 640 x 480. Someone said that I need to download a new driver but I don't know what driver to download or where to find it. I don't think this comp. has a graphics card, I think it is sort of built in so I can't find it by the manufacturer. the motherboard is a Asus SPAX 1.01 and the BIOS is Phoenix Tech. LTD 6.00 07/08/98.
Any Ideas???????

A:Standard Pci Graphics Question

With HP you should use the recovery disks that come with the computer. They should have all the viedo drivers required for the on-board video. If you used a "normal" win98 OS disk, that could be your problem as it wouldn't have the drivers specific for your on-board video...I don't think.

Also you have two different hp models listed on your first post 6333 and 6644f. Have you tried contacting the hp site...searching for drivers or maybe emailing them about aquiring the specific recovery disks for your model...

Try looking in device manager and see if any speicfic info is listed about the on-board video...you might be able to track down the driver if you can find out which card.

Hope this helps a little.

Hi johnletcar,

Have you run the windows experience index yet? Do that and make sure you have your display set to 32 bit.Right click on the desktop and go to display properties. Check the Device Manager and see if you have any problems in there. Maybe you can check to see if you have the latest driver updates.

Go to the control panel-system and run the WEI.

A:Standard VGA Graphics Card and Generic Non-PnP Monitor.. HELP!!

ezminnie, welcome to the Seven Forums.

Let me guess, a Sony or Toshiba laptop. If that is the case then the drivers directly from Nvidia will never install on it as neither of them will allow it. The only way to install something other than the driver from Sony or Toshiba (which really is nothing more than the reference Nvidia driver modded with the device IDs that Sony and Toshiba use, and whatever extra bits if any to work with the display on the laptop) is to use a modded driver. You can try one of the ones from here,

Drivers | drivers for mobile cards and laptops | laptopvideo2go.com

Go for one from the 275.xx and down as I haven't seen too many saying much good about the latest 280 beta driver. If those fail to install you can always use whatever Windows 7 or Vista driver (the Vista driver will work in Windows 7) from your laptop manufacturer.

Hi Arguntom and welcome to Vista Forums

What is the make and model number of your motherboard?

Download, install and run this utility: http://www.cpuid.com/download/cpuz/cpuz_153_setup.exe

The 2 tabs that I am interested in are Mainboard and Graphics as shown in the images below. These are from my system, yours will probably be different.

Hello all I am having an unusual issue inside of Windows Ultimate -bit I was an hour or two into playing Terraria when I suddenly began having screen tearing issues At the time I was playing on a Gigabyte HD Super OC using drivers from AMD s website I have had this graphics card inside this machine Issue Using Graphics Windows VGA When Drivers Standard Not with this same setup for about a year now with no issues Thinking the drivers may have Graphics Issue When Not Using Standard Windows VGA Drivers become corrupted I booted into safe mode and used driver sweeper to completely remove my AMD drivers when the AMD drivers were not installed the graphics looked fine the problem went entirely away and then did a clean re-install of the latest drivers from AMD The problem returned Thinking it might be a problem with the graphics card I again removed my amd drivers and again the issue Graphics Issue When Not Using Standard Windows VGA Drivers went away while using the standard windows vga drivers and installed my older nVidida GeForce GT OC which was in this same machine with this same setup for about or years with no issues before upgrading to the HD and then installed the latest drivers from nVidia s website now instead of screen-tearing I am getting grey horizontal lines jumping up and down across the screen but the problem immediately goes away when reverting back to standard windows VGA driver The problem seems to be aggravated by mouse movement and keyboard input as when I am typing or moving the mouse the more and faster the glitches seem to occur Also I noticed on my HD that when the problem was occurring there would be a diagonal line running from the bottom-left corner of the display to the top-right corner of the display and if I opened multiple windows the diagonal line would appear in each individual window and the tearing would occur in between the two halves separated by the diagonal line I have run Hitman Pro Rogue Killer TDSS Killer Microsoft Security Essentials and System Mechanic all on their most intense settings there are no viruses or malware and system mechanic could not find any problems Can anyone think of what could cause this problem Thank you in advance nbsp

A:Graphics Issue When Not Using Standard Windows VGA Drivers

I would Uninstall SYstem mechanic 12 as it will and probaly has caused severe damage to the windows registry and system files. We discourage the use of such programs here at TSG for that reason. Whats the make and model of your PSU?? As well as the 12V rail rating?

I ve been having issues with my laptop for quite some time and it mostly stemmed from an issue with my GPU The GPU kept throttling its voltages when it was switching from D rendering to D rendering and it would cause the laptop to crash My workaround solution for this was to download Rivatuner and force the GPU to be in D performance around the clock This has been how I ve kept my laptop up and running and gaming for the last year and a half or so Lately I ve encountered a new problem with the computing crashing to a black screen again despite updating graphics card drivers reformatting checking my DC input to see if it was shorting itself on the cables to the monitor as well as disabling my undervolt Direct3D expert on standard drivers needed - Win7 Enabling I had on my CPU and buying a new power adapter This all has no fixed whatever issue is going on with my laptop Now upon finally reformatting my computer and some trial and error I have found Enabling Direct3D on standard Win7 drivers - expert needed that if I simply don t upgrade my graphics card drivers from the standard ones installed with Win my computer won t black screen on me The only downfall to this issue is that by not updating my graphics card drivers I cannot Enabling Direct3D on standard Win7 drivers - expert needed for the life of me figure out if its possible to enable Direct D or not I ll tell you what I have done to try to enable it I ve tried downloading all the optional SDK DirectX software I ve tried enabling Direct D through the registry but there are no values for anything pertaining to Direct D I ve tried enabling it through the Display Properties in Windows through desk cpl and there are no options for Hardware Acceleration probably because I don t have any real drivers for my GPU Those of you who feel my computer model and such are important I ll give you the info here Gateway P -FX nVidia GeForce M GTS I must make a point that using the official nVidia drivers xx from the nVidia website or using more updated drivers and modifying the INF makes no difference to how the laptop crashes it still does no matter what The only thing that seems to keep it from crashing with the drivers updated on it is simply running it off the battery strangely enough having it run on the AC adapter makes it crash Any insight on this or experiments you think might help me out or anyone who knows if in my situation you can enable Direct D Acceleration would be greatly appreciated I bought this laptop when it was retailing for and I m still paying the student loan off for it would really break my heart if I can t salvage it I m no professional in the field but I d like to believe I ve done every possible thing to try and fix this issue nbsp

A:Enabling Direct3D on standard Win7 drivers - expert needed

Are you using driver 285.62? ( win 7 32bit)

Not sure if you need a OEM driver.. Try driver ver 174.82. You can find them here: http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/drivers/89

Also it sounds like your ac power adapter is failing to me. If the laptop works fine on battery only i would put money on it.
