Preferred Solution: Windows 7 forwarding to sites and closing out mozilla firefox windows

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello and welcome to Bleeping ComputerWe apologize for the delay in responding to your request for help. Here at Bleeping Computer we get overwhelmed at times, and we are trying our best to keep up. Please note that your topic was not intentionally overlooked. Our mission is to help everyone in need, but sometimes it takes just a little longer to get to every request for help. No one is ignored here.If you have since resolved the original problem you were having, we would appreciate you letting us know. If not please perform the following steps below so we can have a look at the current condition of your machine. Please include a clear description of the problems you're having, along with any steps you may have performed so far. Please refrain from running tools or applying updates other than those we suggest while we are cleaning up your computer. The reason for this is so we know what is going on with the machine at any time. Some programs can interfere with others and hamper the recovery process.Even if you have already provided information about your PC, we need a new log to see what has changed since you originally posted your problem. We need to create an OTL ReportPlease download OTL from one of the following mirrors:This is THE MirrorSave it to your desktop.Double click on the icon on your desktop.Click the "Scan All Users" checkbox. In the custom scan box paste the following:

msconfig

If you click on this in the drop-down menu you can choose Track this topic. I suggest you do this and select Immediate E-Mail notification and click on Proceed. This way you will be advised when we respond to your topic and facilitate the cleaning of your machine. After 5 days if a topic is not replied to we assume it has been abandoned and it is closed.regards myrti

Well, like the title says, Firefox keeps redirecting me to random sites. For instance I clicked on a wikipedia link and got sent to Travelocity.com. This just started happening earlier today, out of nowhere, and it's only Firefox that does this. The last things I remember downloading are Artweaver, Torsion, Notepad++, and Torsion, but that was all maybe over a week ago. I've used Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and deleted four infected files. I've researched a few other threads but I'm still not exactly sure what I need to do. Can somebody please give me some direction? I'm using Windows XP by the way.

Hi Recently Windows has been hanging a little after closing Firefox and or Windows Live Mail For example if I close Firefox or WM Windows Mail and click on the Start button or anything for that matter Windows will hang maybe seconds before it loads it It didn t used to do this I ve ran anti virus spyware programs Which returned no real threats and Ccleaner I ve defragmented and ran check disk too so my files should be clean and in order for quick access I actually recently had to reinstall Windows XP bit so it s a pretty fresh install As far as I know the drivers and whatnot should be up-to-date too As for the game it s particulary games. a or lag after little Firefox and Windows hangs XP Windows Mail closing only one as I notice lags in a certain way that never had before It s America s Army and every so often I will get this lag that will last for a few seconds and just go away It will make the game real sluggish but only for about or so seconds but gets quite annoying as Windows XP hangs a little after closing Firefox or Windows Mail and lag games. this didn t used to happen before I ve tried system restore to go back to a point where I didn t think it had been doing this but none of the restore points were available for some reason and the one it did let me restore to didn t help I don t notice any processes running that look suspicious or that shouldn t be running I ve also noticed the past few times I boot up and while loading windows my mouse will freeze for just a second which is also not normal I do have my CPU ram and video card over clocked but I know this isn t the reason for my problems since they ve been like that for quite some time and I ve ran Prime for long periods of time without problems I did recently increase my Pagefile size in windows to MB from the default Does anyone have any ideas what might be causing these little hangs after closing Firefox Windows Live Mail and the reoccuring lag in the game Because I have a feeling the two problems are connected in some way Your advice and suggestions would be appreciated Thanks Hijackthis log file Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v Scan saved at PM on Platform Windows XP SP WinNT MSIE Internet Explorer v Boot mode Normal Running processes C WINDOWS System smss exe C WINDOWS system winlogon exe C WINDOWS system services exe C WINDOWS system lsass exe C WINDOWS system Ati evxx exe C WINDOWS system svchost exe C WINDOWS System svchost exe C WINDOWS system Ati evxx exe C WINDOWS system spoolsv exe C WINDOWS Explorer EXE C Program Files APC APC PowerChute Personal Edition mainserv exe C PROGRA AVG AVG avgwdsvc exe C Program Files Galleon bin Wrapper exe C Program Files Common Files LightScribe LSSrvc exe C WINDOWS system PnkBstrA exe C PROGRA AVG AVG avgrsx exe C WINDOWS system java exe C PROGRA AVG AVG avgemc exe C WINDOWS system ctfmon exe C Program Files Winamp winampa exe C WINDOWS SOUNDMAN EXE C PROGRA AVG AVG avgtray exe C Program Files Common Files InstallShield UpdateService issch exe C WINDOWS System DLA DLACTRLW EXE C Program Files ATI Technologies ATI ACE Core-Static MOM exe C Program Files Yahoo Messenger YahooMessenger exe C Program Files ATITool ATITool exe C Program Files ATI Technologies ATI ACE Core-Static ccc exe C Program Files APC APC PowerChute Personal Edition apcsystray exe C Program Files Winamp winamp exe C Program Files Mozilla Firefox firefox exe C Program Files Trend Micro HijackThis HijackThis exe R - HKLM Software Microsoft Internet Explorer Main Default Page URL http go microsoft com fwlink LinkId R - HKLM Software Microsoft Internet Explorer Main Default Search URL http go microsoft com fwlink LinkId R - HKLM Software Microsoft Internet Explorer Main Search Page http go microsoft com fwlink LinkId R - HKLM Software Microsoft Internet Explorer Main Start Page http go microsoft com fwlink LinkId O - BHO no name - D -C F - efb- B - ECA - no file O - BHO AcroIEHelperStub - DF C-E AD- -A -FA C EBDC - C Program Files Common Files Adobe Acro... A:Windows XP hangs a little after closing Firefox or Windows Mail and lag games.

A little update...

I ran Advance WindowsCare V2 Peronal and let it "clean and fix" everything but I still get the delay/lag after closing almost any program. For instance, I opened up Windows defrag utility, closed it and tried clocking on start and it didn't open for about 3 or 4 seconds. I don't know what's causing this but it will also slow my game mention above down like I have something else using a lot of CPU power or something for a few seconds...and this happens in the game quite often...I'd say it does it at least once every minute.

Does anyone have any ideas what might be causing this? It's very annoying and I would hate to have to reinstall Windows since I just literally got everything reinstalled and copied back over when this problem started occurring. If you need any more info or logs, let me know. Thanks.

Hello,

I've recently discovered a problem with my computer. After visiting certain sites and clicking on a second link on that site, both Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer will crash. So far, I have found this problem corresponds to two different sites, Lords of Pain (Wrestling News Site) and [email protected] (School Site). I was going to post this in the Malware Removal forum, but then I saw this topic in the forum. I also have noticed that the problem does not occur if I use Google Chrome, but I would much rather use Mozilla Firefox. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hello BrianJBustos,I see that you have an HJT log posted here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/211124/computer-running-slow-browsers-crashing-ff-ie/ We do not allow more than one topic for the same computer and the same issue as this causes confusion, and in this case may make the disinfection process more difficult. This leaves you with a choice:1) Have this thread reopened and the HiJack This log topic deletedOR2) Keep this thread closed and wait for assistance in the HiJack This log forum. Please note that that forum is VERY busy. Please send a Private Message indicating your choice.Assuming you wish assistance in the HiJack This forum, you should NOT make further changes to your computer (install/uninstall programs, use special fix tools, delete files, edit the registry, etc) unless advised by a HJT Team member, nor should you continue to ask for help elsewhere. Doing so can result in system changes which may not show in the log you already posted. Further, any modifications you make on your own may cause confusion for the helper assisting you and could complicate the malware removal process which would extend the time it takes to clean your computer. From this point on the HJT Team should be the only members that you take advice from, until they have verified your log as clean. Please be patient. It may take a while to get a response because the HJT Team members are EXTREMELY busy working logs posted before yours. They are volunteers who will help you out as soon as possible. Once you have made your post and are waiting, please DO NOT make another reply until it has been responded to by a member of the HJT Team. Generally the staff checks the forum for postings that have 0 replies as this makes it easier for them to identify those who have not been helped. If you post another response there will be 1 reply. A team member, looking for a new log to work may assume another HJT Team member is already assisting you and not open the thread to respond. To avoid confusion, I am closing this topic. Good luck with your log.Orange Blossom

A:Malwarebytes keep blocking sites and Host Processes for Windows keeps closing

Greetings and Welcome to The Forums!!My name is Gringo and I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems.I have put together somethings for you to keep in mind while I am helping you to make things go easier and faster for both of usPlease do not run any tools unless instructed to do so.
We ask you to run different tools in a specific order to ensure the malware is completely removed from your machine, and running any additional tools may detect false positives, interfere with our tools, or cause unforeseen damage or system instability. Please do not attach logs or use code boxes, just copy and paste the text.
Due to the high volume of logs we receive it helps to receive everything in the same format, and code boxes make the logs very difficult to read. Also, attachments require us to download and open the reports when it is easier to just read the reports in your post. Please read every post completely before doing anything.
Pay special attention to the NOTE: lines, these entries identify an individual issue or important step in the cleanup process. Please provide feedback about your experience as we go.
A short statement describing how the computer is working helps us understand where to go next, for example: I am still getting redirected, the computer is running normally, etc. Please do not describe the computer as "the same", this requires the extra step of looking back at your previous post.NOTE: At the top of your post, click on the Watch Topic Button, select Immediate Notification, and click on Proceed. This will send you an e-mail as soon as I reply to your topic, allowing us to resolve the issue faster. NOTE: Backup any files that cannot be replaced. Removing malware can be unpredictable and this step can save a lot of hartaches if things don't go as planed. You can put them on a CD/DVD, external drive or a pen drive, anywhere except on the computer. NOTE: It is good practice to copy and paste the instructions into notepad and print them in case it is necessary for you to go offline during the cleanup process. To open notepad, navigate to Start Menu > All Programs > Accessories > Notepad. On Sunday I noticed that Google was redirecting me to random sites, predominantly expandsearchanswers.com through Mozilla. I ran Malwarebytes which found and quarantined several tracking cookies it identified as trojans, but that didn't solve it. IE was not having the same problem initially, so I uninstalled and upgraded to the newest edition of Mozilla, as well as Java, uninstalling the older programs. The new Mozilla and now IE as well are redirecting to find-stuff-fast, informationgetter.com, expandsearchanswers. I ran Malwarebytes again this morning and it found two new items it identified as Trojans.

(Note: I am submitting this on my work computer since I'm wary of using my laptop until resolved, but I do not have it with me this morning to run any of the programs to fix this.) Thanks for the help in advance!

Hello all !
I have never posted before, but have certainly learned a great deal from all you experts out there.  I am wondering if there is someone out here who can post a tutorial on how to get (or enable) I believe is the correct term, firefox to run java in it's browser.  I have everything loaded as far as the latest java, and the console settings, etc. but I cannot get firefox to recognize java...it always says   "you need a plugin to to view this"...For security reasons, ..Mozilla turned off the plugin which worked so well before...in my opinion.  I have an older version of firefox on my laptop, and am fortunate to have the plugins already installed there, but I am unable to find them for the new firefox.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks!  Robert

A:Mozilla Firefox 45, on Windows 10

Robert, this Mozilla Support article may be of some help.  Also be sure you are running the latest version of Firefox v.46.0.

Another Mozilla article to take a look at is the system requirements page .  At the top of that page you can choose the Add-ons tab then select the topic that fits best.

Hope this information is of some help to you.

Hi,
I have been having problems with Firefox ever since I installed the external IP add on. Every time I open a new page it closes half a second later, I usually have to try about 5x till it finally stays open.
I am running on a PowerBook G3 with Mac Os X 10.4.9 and an eMac G3 also with 10.4.9.
I was wondering if anyone here has had the same problems or if anybody has any solutions I would appreciate them.
I wanted to try to uninstall the addons but I did not know how.

Regards, Icy

A:Firefox Windows closing right after being opened

Hi

Firstly try in Firefox Safe Mode. If it stays stable it's one of your addons.

Have Firefox closed. Go to Utilities (in the Applications folder) and open Terminal, then run:

/Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/firefox -safe-mode

If you don't encounter the problem there, then close and open in normal mode as usual and in Tools>Addons, uninstall the faulty extension.

If you have more than one, keep disabling one by one and restarting Firefox to find the culprit. Yes, a pain but that's to save you from deleting all of them. If you don't really want them then you can delete all of them and it'll work.

This also applies to themes.

Whats Up Guys.

For some reason, when I'm doing my normal computing activities, my Firefox window closes for no apparent reason.

I realised I had a problem right now when I was listening to a radio station in a window and that disappeared while the stream kept on playing.

Also, not quite sure if this is related or not, but I have a yellow triangle with a exclamation point that comes up in my start up tray from time to time.

Could any of you guys please give me some help as to why my Firefox windows are closing prematurely like this and to why that yellow triangle is coming up like that.

Any help or direction to helpful threads would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks As Always.

A:Firefox Windows Keep Closing/Disappearing

OS? Are you running the latest Firefox? Have you run a virus scan recently?

Also, what does the yellow triangle tell you? (there is usually a pop-up message displayed)

My apologies if this is posted in the wrong section.

I'm having problems closing Firefox in Windows 7.
It appears that the program is always still running in the background and uses large quantities of CPU usage.
I always have to stop the program in Task Manager or reboot before it will open again.
Does anyone have any suggestions or a possible fix please?

Many thanks in advance

My first problem is my computer is running real slow I have tried to disk clean, sweep, optimize and defrag, nothing helps. Someone gave the advice to add Ram. Gateway computer/AMD/Phenom(TM) 9500 Quad Cord Processor/ Memory 300 GB/ Local Disk(C) 314 GB free of 454 GB Recovery 4.48 GB free 11.0 GB.

Just so you know I am not computer savvy. My first computer, you will need to explain to me like I was a 2nd grader.

2nd problem when I tried to log into my local unemployment office, which I have done on occasion, when I have been on furlough, I have had no problem on this site. Now, it says your browser is not currently supported for this site. I have done some research on the web to try and solve this problem and either I do not understand what they are telling me or I can't solve the problem with their instructions.

some websites do not support firefox, opera, or others. Usually they do support internet explorer. If you go to a website that says they do not support your browser, then use the recommended browser or if there is not one recommended use msie.

Hey! There's absolutely NO reason to be ashamed. IE8 is an excellent, and safe browser, and NO one should be faulted, or feel bad for using it. The choice of browser has NOTHING to do with security or performance anymore - and only a matter of personal preference for the "look and feel" of the product.

After all, regardless the browser of choice, we still have to practice safe computing by keeping our systems updated, patched, scanned and blocked, and we still must avoid risky practices - like illegal filesharing.

I'm running Windows XP and like to use Mozilla Firefox browser, but it will not play videos on news sites most of the time. I can see the videos in Internet Explorer, but not Firefox. I've tried the tips given for this, but think it has to do with connectivity not being recognized. I've gone to the connectivity link, but can't seem to get it to work. Any ideas?

I also have a XP and use Firefox. I had a similar problem with hearing audio streams. It was because I had pop-ups blocked (ocassionally pop-ups are useful). Make sure that Firefox is not blocking the pop-up window containing the video.

You can use these free tools to see if they find anything,
Manually Update them before running full scans,
Try not to use your computer while the scans are running, (one at a time of course).
Uncheck the box to Activate the Free trial from the final install options,
Also use the Custom scan option not the Threat scan,
Select the drive to scan usually C,
If your really infected check the box to scan for Rootkits = this scan option will take several hours to complete,
Never use your machine while scans are running for best results,
Please Do Not clean/ Delete or Remove Any detections before posting the scan results first before review especially Malwarebytes,

Operating System - XP

Over the last few months, the Windows Explorer on my laptop has become excruciatingly slow. Simply trying to move to an adjacent directory can take minutes, specially with Mozilla Firefox.

Related / unrelated - I have seen CPU/memory max out as well - though not always.

I am unsure if it is a virus issue or is it something that has to do with windows explorer issues, which I have seen a few threads on on the net.

I woud appreciate any advice you might have.

Thanks!
Moy

On an irregular basis, sometimes 4 or 5 times a day or sometimes once a week, when I start up Mozilla Firefox it will only start in safe mode. I have to restart the computer (HP TouchSmart desk top) to get it to run correctly. If I try Internet explorer, when it's doing this, it keeps opening up new windows until it won't open up anymore.

I have all my updates up to date, anybody got any ideas. I run Norton antivirus which also automatically updates.

Thanks in advance Mike

Any way to "de-uglify" the Fonts of firefox in Windows -- Linux has a nice menu in the tools in the firefox menu - Can't see one in Windows.

A:Mozilla Firefox - Font size and change in windows

Good question, in windows, it just picks up default win style. Maybe some other FF theme changes it.
PS. So you use Menu Bar too ? Many don't even know it exists on FF.

Mozilla unveils Windows theme/UI update for Firefox 3.7/4.0

Posted by Adrian Kingsley-Hughes @ 12:18 pm

Mozilla have unveiled some mockups of the Windows theme/UI updates that is scheduled to hit Firefox users over two stages - 3.7 and 4.0.

Stephen Horlander, a designer and contributor to the Mozilla project unveiled some details of the refresh.

Cornerstone to the revamp is the App Button that appears in the top-left of the mockup. Here?s what Horlander has to say about the origin of this new addition:The new proposed approach to this problem is an App Button which is similar to the single menu approach taken by Windows 7 native applications (Paint, WordPad) and by MS Office.

This is an interesting surprise from Mozilla.
Just recently I switched from 32-bit ESR to 64-bit ESR and so far I like it. Haven't had any problems.
I have used Cyberfox and Pale Moon 64-bit versions which have been available for some time, but the official stable 64-bit Firefox is less than a year from its initial release.

Mozilla Reveals its Firefox 64-bit for Windows plan

Upgrading from 32-bit to 64-bit is very easy and downgrading from 64 to 32 follows the same process.

Hello all,
This is my first post and I hope I am following all protocols correctly. Being the typical guy I have been trying to solve this issue on my own for months and I am unsuccessful. My issue is I have a Dell Inspiron 640m and currently running Windows XP. Internet Explorer will pop up a new window every minute and eventually freezing. I usually use Mozilla Firefox but I have the same issue there where it actually pops up new windows and tabs that have links to antivirus websites. The popups are a lot more frequent on firefox than IE, so I've been using that more often. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I have Hijack this if I need to attach a log of what comes up. I can hardly get any work done on this laptop due to the annoying pop ups, please help!
With gratitude,
saxgrove

After pledging to a touch-centric version of the browser for Windows 8, releasing a beta, then backpedaling on that promise, then resuming development for a Windows 10 version (again!), Mozilla seems to have, hopefully, come to a decision this time about Microsoft's modern offerings. Now, they are forging ahead on the development of what they claim will be an "independent and high-performing alternative to the stock browser [ Microsoft Edge]."

After complaining that Microsoft has made choosing a browser other than its own Edge too difficult with Windows 10, Firefox officials have taken browser-choice into their own hands.

Firefox 40 for Windows 10, made generally available on August 11, includes new "support materials to show you how to restore or choose Firefox as your default browser in Windows 10."

The new Firefox for Windows 10 goes further. When Windows 10 users look to the Cortana search box built into the task bar, web searches done from that search box will "show results in the default search engine you choose in Firefox," rather than defaulting to Bing, Firefox officials said.

Hi can anybody help.
When i load either IE or Firefox and then type in a web site I get the following message----
Sorry, the page you were looking for cannot be found--The page you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.
Error: (DNS), click the back button to try another link.
If I load a web page from favourites , bookmarks or browsing history the load fine and i can browse the site. Also I have Ask Jeeves and google in my IE favourites,IE will load Ask Jeeves but not Google. suggesting that the problem may lie with Google.

Both IE and Firefox worked fine up to a scheduled Adobe update, Thinking that this was the problem I did a system restore hoping that this would cure the problem -but no effect.
I would be very grateful if somebody could give me some help with the problem.

My friends computer is running Windows 7. Whenever I try to go to facebook.com in any browser, for some reason it always takes me to an eBay page that says Page Not Responding. A:My Mozilla page keeps closing

Hi, welcome to TSF

What does the error message say?

Which version of Firefox are you running?

Have you tried removing all your addons and themes, then reinstalling them one at a time to test for incompatibility?

Does it happen randomly or whenever you do something or visit a certain type of website? (eg. Flash/Java games, download sites, secure sites, etc)

The more information you can provide, the more likely you are to get a reply.

Please note, if you think your computer is infected, our analysts deal with HJT logs in the Security forum, not here.

Hello, I am using Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 and I started having issues with Spyware Doctor earlier. After a restart to my computer it would not load, I tried to download the setup and it never loaded. I tried running it as an administrator but it still didn't work.

I noticed a lot of errors such as programs closing after they do not respond so I purchased Uniblue and fixed registry errors. After that I restarted my computer again and tried to go to IExplorer to google search Spyware Doctor after a while it would close. I tried Google Chrome and it would close eventually too. Now I'm running McAfee to see if I have a virus on my computer while using my brother's computer to talk about my problem.

Hopefully I'll post enough info so that someone can suggest what course of action I should take about certain problems my computer has been having. The first one was of course the browsers closing. Then came the occasional Generic process for windows 32 has encountered problems and needs to close. That probably isn't the exact name but i'm sure you'll know which one I mean. Then the next issue lately has been that anything and everything that i try to download has atleast 1 file that is corrupt thus making the download unsuccessful. Also I have the Avast antivirus software running and it found a virus? or adware called Win32Adware-gen. (Once again, if I have made errors in the name, I apologize.) I recently, (after reading similar issues in this forum) downloaded Hijack this and scanned my whole system. Which is a Intel Pentium 3 Processor, Windows xp professional w/sp 2, 866MHz, & 512mb ram. Here is the logfile from Hijack this.......

I bought a computer about three days ago and upon typing sites like myspace.com or other links that I've clicked on through forums, Mozilla shuts down. Every time. There's a flower icon in the lower right corner tray of my screen and whenever I try to end it through Task Manager it'll say something like "the operation could not be completed" even though I am the admin..

How do I uninstall this? I've tried Killbox, and that doesn't work. There's no icon for it in the add/remove programs file. Am I just stuck with this forever? There was this other filter called K9 Bluecoat and I got rid of that easy, how come I can't delete this?
HELP!!

Hello and welcome to the forums! My secret agent name on the forums is SweetTech (you can call me ST for short), it's a pleasure to meet you. I am very sorry for the delay in responding, but as you can see we are at the moment being flooded with logs which, when paired with the never-ending shortage of helpers, resulted in the delayed responding to your thread.I would be glad to take a look at your log and help you with solving any malware problems. If you have since resolved the issues you were originally experiencing, or have received help elsewhere, please inform me so that this topic can be closed. If you have not, please adhere to the guidelines below and then follow instructions as outlined further below:Logs from malware removal programs (OTL is one of them) can take some time to analyze. I need you to be patient while I analyze any logs you post. Please remember, I am a volunteer, and I do have a life outside of these forums.
Please make sure to carefully read any instruction that I give you. Attention to detail is important! Since I cannot see or directly interact with your computer I am dependent on you to "be my eyes" and provide as much information as you can regarding the current state of your computer.
If you're not sure, or if something unexpected happens, do NOT continue! Stop and ask!
In Windows Vista and Windows 7, all tools need to be started by right clicking and selecting Run as Administrator!
Do not do things I do not ask for, such as running a spyware scan on your computer. The one thing that you should always do, is to make sure sure that your anti-virus definitions are up-to-date!
Please do not use the Attachment feature for any log file. Do a Copy/Paste of the entire contents of the log file and submit it inside your post.
I am going to stick with you until ALL malware is gone from your system. I would appreciate it if you would do the same. From this point, we're in this together ;)
Because of this, you must reply within three days failure to reply will result in the topic being closed!
Please do not PM me directly for help. If you have any questions, post them in this topic.
Lastly, I am no magician. I will try very hard to fix your issues, but no promises can be made. Also be aware that some infections are so severe that you might need to resort to reformatting and reinstalling your operating system.
Don't worry, this only happens in severe cases, but it sadly does happen. Be prepared to back up your data. Have means of backing up your data available.____________________________________________________Rootkit UnHooker (RkU)Please download Rootkit Unhooker from one of the following links and save it to your desktop.Link 1 (.exe file)Link 2 (zipped file)Link 3 (.rar file)In order to use this tool if you downloaded from either of the second two links, you will need to extract the RKUnhookerLE.exe file using a program capable of extracing ZIP and RAR compressed files.
If I instruct you to download a specific tool in which you already have, please delete the copy that you have and re-download the tool. The reason I ask you to do this is because these tools are updated fairly regularly.
Firefox has been freezing up on me, and when I close it down, I get a bluescreen error. It also happens a lot of the time when I close Firefox down normally. This was happening before I updated to the latest version of FF. I am running Windows XP, and have recently started using ZoneAlarm and Avast on my system.

A:Firefox closes = bluescreen error? (Moved for the mozilla/Firefox Forum)

Hi,

Can you give us the error in full that you are getting. Also, I would check and make sure that ZoneAlarm and Avast are allowing FF to connect to the internet.

Cheers!

Hi guys,

I picked up the "Windows 7 Fix" malware program, which I have seemingly been able to clear thanks to instructions on here. However, I have a residual problem where any search engine search results get a click and I get forwarded to a site (which seems to switch pending on time of the day and browser) before returning me back to Google. This happens on Chrome, Firefox and IE, so I presume it's a registry problem or something. Can anyone assist?

Many thanks,

Pete

I don't know if my problem is Firefox or WordPress but I thought I'd try here first.
I use WordPress to publish articles and usually copy and paste from the finished article in the Articles forum to WordPress but since I reinstalled Win 7 this no longer works as paste is no longer an option when I right click in WordPress, or at least in the particular part that I need it to. I can, however, do it in Internet Explorer, but images aren't copied over, which they used to be. I've tried all the usual things like clearing the cache, but nothing has worked. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

A:Is this Win 7 or Firefox at fault? Moved from Mozilla/Firefox browsers

Hi,
I am using Win-7 too but I haven't used IE. So my suggestion is to, try another browser for the same purpose and then see the effects (I feel firefox is well suited for the purpose). If you are getting same problems then, you are missing with some features of Win-7 otherwise, it is the website issue.

I have several protective programs running..
like "Adware, Fix It 5,SpywareStopper"
but I haven't found any viruses...

When I run SpyBot, it comes up with about 23-25 entries AND I stall when I get to create a restore point. After a lon---g period of time the (not responding)
goes on.

Another problem is that WinRAR opens but closes unexpectedly...

Are these problems possibly related or do I have different issues???

Thanks for any help!

http://forums.techguy.org/t110854.html Follow this link to Rollin Rog Security Tools It is hard to tell from your report exactly what spy ware programs you are running . Scroll down the page to Parasitic , Download Ad-Aware SE , Spy Bot Search and Destroy , Spy Ware Blaster . Setup and update according to the tutourials. Go to Panda Active Scan or other online virus scanner and run a scan . If you do not have an anti virus program aboard go to Grisoft AVG and download the personal free edition . Use these programs only for now and shut down any other spyware / malware programs you mayhave running . After using the programs from Rollin Rog Security Tools come back and let us know how things are now running .

Greetings,

What should I do in order to prevent a web site or web page from closing after trying to access another? For instance, whenever I click on a link within an email or another web site, the previous web site or web page disappears. In other words, I am only able to access one web site at a time.
This problem came up when my computer was invaded and hijacked by spyware which I was able to get rid of. However, I kept encountering the above mentioned problem.
I would appreciate any assistance to resolve the problem. Thank you in advance.

Could someone help and advise me how to approach the following problem. Each time when I want to access some www sites, e.g. www.premiership.co.uk and then I want to log in the site is getting closed. There is a message that internet explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. See attachments.
The question is, how can I find out which program causes the problem (I have checked against viruses, spywares and it has been found nothing)?

Hi Guys

I am new to this forum and have limited knowledge of computers.
I was using Firefox version 2 and was very happy until I was requested to download version 3. Now I seem to have endless crashes and keep getting told Firefox has a problem & needs to close. Up to 5 x a day.

This is very frustrating.
This happens with avg, facebook ,all internet functions.

I have spybot running and avg and says there are no problems.

We had a power failure earlier yesterday and when I switched back on Microsoft suggested I check the C drive as there was a problem -but that seems to have sorted itself out.-probably due to not closing down properly.

So can you help me with detailed instructions on how to fix forefox or totally remove it and install from the beginning or is there major problems with that version 3 .1 ?

Thanks
Carol

I loaded updates manually, but still nothing found. Rogue killer downloads, installs, and starts running, but gets closed while running. I'm attaching logs, thanks in advance for your help!

Hi,

Download ComboFix from one of these locations:

Link 1
Link 2
Link 3

* IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop
Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools
Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.
Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.
**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.

When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.

I've got a huge problem with my port forwarding, and hours of google havent been able to help.
The port forwarding at my router is easy on a web page, done that and it worked before on another pc, so that should not be the problem (if it is, i have contacted them waiting for response if it is that)

I belive the problem to be with my firewall or something, but it wont work with any rules i make or by turning it off.

Im running a windows 10 home insider preview Version 10.0.10130 Build 10130

trying to port forward for an Ark: survival evolved server.

Would love help form you guys, cheers! ^^

I need to forward port 25525, so I can host a server for a game, but I ran into problems.

If you look at my setup, you'll see why.

Alright.. Here's what I did. I went to the wireless router's address in my browser, typed the password, forwarded the port 25525 to the IP 192.168.1.7, which I found was my computer's internal IP via ipconfig, and asked someone to try connecting. They couldn't connect, of course. This makes me believe that I need to forward the ports in the Vonage router as well, or modify some settings in my control panel or network settings.

So, could someone walk me though how to forward ports with my setup?

A:Port forwarding in Windows XP SP3

Move the Vonage adapter to a port on the router to get it from between the router and modem, and it'll stop being a problem. I run two different VoIP adapters that way, and I used to have Vonage and it was also connected to my router. At that point, port forwarding is just the standard procedure for your WGR614.

Hi guys,

I've had port forwarding working fine in XP, but have upgraded to W7 and it doesn't work now.

I've set my port number in Vuze, told Norton 2010 and Windows firewall to allow all for Vuze, and have the port forwarding enabled for my IP in my router setup...

Not sure what to do it just doesn't work :( I used to have Windows Firewall off on XP, should I do the same here (or can I?)

Thanks

A:Windows 7 Port forwarding

I have also created inbound rules for the port in question in both windows firewall advanced settings and Norton...

Both W firewall and norton should be allowing vuze and allowing inbound on the port... Driving me mad!!

Hi I had a couple of questions regarding ATA and the Windows Event Forwarding WEF setting I understood that if I set up WEF ATA is able to study Windows Forwarding Event ATA and and analyze all the activities and events that all users in my domain do am I right About those activities and events that are captured by WEF what specific activities and events are we talking about Which ATA and Windows Event Forwarding events are being forwarded to the ATA Does it apply to all users in ATA and Windows Event Forwarding the domain On the other side what kind of events and activities would NOT be collected by WEF If I do not set up WEF ATA would only be able to look at ATA and Windows Event Forwarding the network traffic and analyze that data am I right What other data would ATA be able to capture and analyze even if I do not set up WEF IF I do not set up WEF does that mean that ATA would not be able to capture and analyze any information regarding the users and activities other than network traffic that are being done in the domain Finally I know it might sound stupid but what kind of data specifically comes out as network traffic What kind of information comes out as netwrok traffic for ATA to analyze Regards

Do I need to erase windows explorer from my computer or just not use it.
If I have to remove it how do I do so.

I am using outlook express for my e mail. When I click on open a web site from an e mail it opens the web site using windows explorer not mozillla how do I change this, so it will open a web site with mozilla.

Do I need to do anything else to protect myself from windows explorer vulernabilities.

The last 2 days FF keeps closing after 1-2mins.

I don't even get the crash report now it just closes and upon opening it takes me the restore session.

I have done a fresh install of it deleting all known traces of FF and although better it still closes but now maybe after 7-10 mins.

I'm running Win10 Pro (clean install)

I tried to do a system restore to roll back 3 days but I get an error saying it couldn't complete the restore.

I have done a full system scan with defender that took around 10-12 hours but all came back clear.

I'm using edge for now but really would like to get FF back.

Any ideas most welcome please.

I am using putty to connect to linux servers from my Windows 7 Ultimate machine (recently upgraded from XP). I know that SSH is configured properly on the linux machines because X11 forwarding works properly when connecting from my XP machine. Putty and Xming on my Windows 7 machine are configured exactly as they are on the XP machine, however, X11 forwarding does not function on the Windows 7 machine. I have confirmed that Xming is listening on port 6000 on the Windows 7 machine via "netstat -a". Both putty and Xming are the same versions as on the XP machine. I have removed all antivirus software and the windows firewall is currently disabled. Both the XP and Windows 7 machines are connecting through the same router and there are no additional devices (eg. switches, etc) between them. Does anyone have any suggestion as to what may be causing X11 forwarding to fail from my Windows 7 machine?

A:X11 forwarding not working w/ Putty & Xming under Windows 7

This link should have the information you need to get this working. Has to do with LAN manager authentication and NTLM security and disabling the encryption. Most of this is required to get Windows 7 working with older servers. You can ignore the part about disabling IPv6.

Hi When I was on my laptop I was surprised to see Firefox was no longer open I'd turned away for a few moments to do something else and I was sure I hadn't closed it but there was no error When closing randomly Firefox I clicked to open it back up it restored my previous tabs I thought it was a bit odd but it's the first and only time it's happened However a few moments ago I was just in the middle of typing something and Firefox just vanished almost in a sort of flash No error messages it wasn't going slow it didn't freeze or crash like I've seen before it just vanished It wouldn't reopen straight away either I should also add that the sites I were on are ones that I Firefox randomly closing go on daily so nothing odd in that sense to make it vanish Seeing as this has happened on both my computers now and I've never seen it vanish in such a way I'm wondering why it has happened Has anyone else had this problem

I have this strange problem. Occasionally (meaning when I'm asleep and my dad wants to use the computer, so he wakes me up) Firefox will not start. I have to go into the CtrlAltDel=> Processes, and sometimes there will be 2-3 and sometimes even 4 instances running. Whats keeping firefox from either not shutting down, or not starting up? Its really starting to bug me, since my father cannot figure out how to shut it down.

A:Firefox not completely closing out

Wow, DD, I have ben using FF for quite awhile now, and nothing like this has occured. My wife no hablar FireFox, so we are switching back and forth from IE to FF all the time.

Pending the comments of experts, I think it may call for a reinstall.

However, I want to clarify that I have FF on my toolbar, and my understanding of shutting down is closing it, as it "click the X".

So I always close Firefox by closing the main window and If I've been using it for awhile it'll take a minute or two for it's processes to close in Task Manager Well after a load of slowdown from Windows Automatic Updates then getting everything back up to speed I closed down Firefox for the night So it did the usual thing but then I noticed the RAM usage stop lowering from both it's processes firefox exe and plugin-container exe All of a sudden crashreporter exe pops up and a button for the Crash Reported appears in the Firefox after Crashed Closing? Taskbar However no window for it appeared So I Firefox Crashed after Closing? closed the Crash Reporter in the task bar and then firefox exe and plugin-container exe went back to normal and closed about seconds after that However just to be safe I re-opened Firefox It went completely unresponsive so I had to close it in Task Manager manually Afterward I reopened it and it loaded everything quickly and worked fast like it should After closing that no crash reporter came up This little problem only happened last night The only plugin I had running before was Flash Still what caused it to crash Did it somehow crash when it tried to end it's own processes Was it maybe because of Windows Update eating up a lot of the RAM fifteen minutes earlier Maybe was it a one-time Firefox Crashed after Closing? thing I really don't see why it decided to crash They say that if Firefox processes remain in Task Manager after closing the Firefox windows then it is still running but is unresponsive Whenever it does this they'll close after about a minute Still what even happened I'm using Firefox

This started a couple of weeks ago, I think. Whenever I close Firefox, firefox.exe in the processes is still opened and taking up a whole lot of memory. I can't open another Firefox window unless I manually close firefox.exe in the task manager myself. Not sure if it's a trojan or anything.

On another note, my Windows Live Messenger is being wonky and freezing after resuming from hibernate (using a laptop) once in a while. I use task manager to close msnmsgr.exe, and reopen WLM, but again, when signing in, it just freezes.

Any help appreciated.
