How can i view chinese programs on a english xp computer correctly

Q: How can i view chinese programs on a english xp computer correctly

Ok i can view chinese fonts correctly like webpages and emails, but when i download a chinese program which is originally chinese (simplified or traditional) all the characters are just garbage.
I have already installed fonts via control panel, but chinese programs just dont display correctly, is there a way to fix this.

Preferred Solution: How can i view chinese programs on a english xp computer correctly

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: How can i view chinese programs on a english xp computer correctly

As far as I know, there is nothing you can do about it aside from getting the Chinese version of XP.

I have heard that Vista will be able to switch the user interface to various languages, but XP (as far as I know) can not do this.

Note: the opposite in XP works fine. If you have Chinese XP, you can install ANY English software no problem. XP chinese version is built on top of the English version so all English software works. But the English version has no idea what Chinese characters are, and just messes them all up.

A couple of years ago I installed the Chinese language pack for visiting relatives and as I can't read Chinese they turned the Sony Viao (Win 8.1) back to English upon their departure. I think I was resetting the time (who knows?) and now everything is back to Chinese making it impossible to navigate. I have to guess at everything and as yet have been unable to get back to the page where one changes the language. Even if I could figure it out, it would still be in Chinese. Grrrr!

I've been searching for weeks looking for screen shots to no avail. Any idea on how to retrace my steps and undo my foolishness? Comments, suggestions, and advise greatly appreciated. Snide comments as to my stupidity should be restricted. My wife has already hidden the ax.

Happy New Year one and all...

A:run XP in both chinese and english on the same machine

Yes - you can switch between languages. For example, you can install an English version of XP along with Chinese language support files (if you wish) and vice-versa. However, when talking system menus/dialogs, the language displayed will depend on the version of XP. Eg. - Chinese version of XP, menus display in Chinese; the reverse is also true.

Hello and Welcome to TSF

You can try changing windows default language

The Regional options will change language but will not change the XP's fundamental menus, windows, start menu. You may have to buy the English version of Windows XP if you want it all in English, Windows itself is not multi-lingual, it comes in specific language versions. Did you recieve any cds when purchasing this?

I have a Dell N4110, Windows 7 Home Premium, 640GB drive and 4 GB of Ram.
I am trying to set this computer up for an 11 year old Chinese boy and his Mom to use. I am giving them this computer as a gift as they are very poor and he needs a computer for school.
The boy needs to use the computer in English and the Mom needs to use the computer in Chinese (Simplified).
I was wondering if there is a way to do this with this Laptop. I was hoping to set it up so that when you turn on the computer it would boot to a screen where they could choose English or Chinese and then it would boot to that option.
Is it only possible to do this using Windows 7 Ultimate with the Multilingual User Interface from Microsoft downloadsand even then can it be done as I have described?

Thank you in advance.

A:Changing input languages: English/Chinese

Hello lansehudie, Welcome to TSF!

This is what I think you are trying to achieve....

It would be wise to print these instructions for future reference.

Please Note: These instructions presume that the "Classic View" is being used in the Control Panel.

1: Go, Start > Control Panel > Regional and Language Options > Advanced > scroll down and tick the box for the specific language you need to install.
(You will need to insert the Windows? XP SP2 CD to install the selected fonts.)

2: Once the fonts are installed, click on Languages > Details > Add > now repeat the selection of the particular language required > OK.

3: Next, click Key Settings > create a keyboard shortcut to alternate between the two languages > Apply > OK.

Cancel out of the Control Panel; remove the CD and reboot the computer, for the changes to take effect.

This should now give you an "English" Keyboard with the alternative of "Chinese" Language options, with the use of the Keyboard Shortcut that has been created.

Please post back with the results.

Kind Regards,

Ok this is only an Idea, and I will test it as soon as my 7106 is downloaded, but for now, if someone of you have 7077 and 7106, here my Idea:

Windows himself has no Language since Vista!
on the install DVD there are the language folders,
for english
-\sources\en-us\ -\boot\en-us\
and the file
-\sources\lang.ini

so copy the english language from 7077 to the one of 7106 and replace the lang.ini

try to install

I think, it can work, because of the development do not change a lot from the language side, but more from the system itself.

I want to reformat a laptop that is bought from my father abroad. But sadly I don't understand what it says, I just want to make it boot CD/USB first. But its giving me hard time. And also, It won't the desktop. I mean when it starts, and when the Login window appear. Everytime I try to login, it will just show the background and the sound. But after a few seconds, it will logoff back. Maybe its because when I try to use the anti-virus Avast during startup and the laptop suddenly lost its power. (I forgot to charge it) Maybe thats the cause, because I pick "Delete all" whenever it finds a virus. And this virus named "virot" keeps on popping everytime it scans a .exe file. Thats the reason why I want to reformat this laptop.

Btw, here are the pictures I want to translate to english.

Hello all -

I am trying to do a Windows 7 reinstall from my Samsung Recovery disk, as I have a Samsung laptop. I have received the infamous "windows could not format a partition on disk 0...Error code: 0x80070057" error. Through researching this forum it seems the diskpart program is used to troubleshoot. However, the program only displays English from the command lines or numbers (i.e. - 465 GB). Everything else is displayed as Chinese or Japanese characters. Is there a way to change the language to all English? Thanks.

A:Diskpart not in English. Displaying Chinese or Japanese characters

Hello richarmb Welcome to the Seven Forums!

With a factory recovery disk that should automatically reformat and reOS the drive for you. That works along with the hidden recovery partition to bring everything back to how you saw the preinstall when first buying the laptop.

Since the manufacturer is actually South Korean with a US product and support site. Samsung - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia the default language for non user items would be in the native language and unfortunately not flexible like adding language packs onto Windows itself. You're dealing with hard copy media not an OS already install in that sense.

The only option for a clean install with an English version of the Disk Part tool would be borrowing someone else's 7 dvd and then entering the key on the sticker itself. But you shouldn't even be needing Disk Part with any factory restore option.

Got text on my Lumia 520 from my sister's Samsung Galaxy 3 weeks ago in Asian characters. She said it happened to her coworker weeks ago. I re-booted phone. Tonight, 3 texts from a friend's iPhone, then 1 from my sister. Online translator can't translate. These are sent in English and arrive on my phone in Asian, perhaps Chinese. Again after re-boot tonight. What do I do?

While under Chinese input method (traditional, bopomofo), the system automatically turns what I am typing into English--when the keys I press don't actually make up any word in Chinese. i.e. the input method (as shown on the start bar) stays in Chinese bopomofo, but when it detects that I am not typing Chinese (or rather, when I am trying to type Chinese but accidentally press the wrong keys), the input turns to English instead.
I do remember turning on this feature (somewhere in control panel?) but I haven't been able to find the same page now that I want to turn the feature off. It applies to anything I type on this laptop and not just a particular app.
Where can I find the option to turn this feature off? Thanks.
p.s. I'm on windows 10

Hi folks,

Win XP 32 bit (English version)

Can I change the captioned OS displaying Chinese on tool bars, icons etc.

Having played around on "Regional and Language Options" without result. I found I can't "tick" "Apply all settings to the current user account and to the default user profile" permanently. After -> Apply -> OK -> reboot, it unticked this item.
IIRC it is possible. I did it about 9 years ago when WinXP was first released. Any advice? TIA

Press the Windows flag key + R and in the Run open field type: intl.cpl (press enter)
Check that the drop down box under “Format: English” is set to “Match Windows Display language (recommended)"

I would be a little leery that something malicious may have been installed on the computer to cause this unwanted change. You may want to update and run any AV and or anti-malware programs you may have installed.

Hi,

I'm having trouble opening my home page in an English version. I was messing around with Windows a few weeks back trying to install Chinese on MS Word and it's after changing a few things on Windows. For example, when I open IE6, my home page which is Google is in Chinese. I've reset my home page to google.ie in English on numerous occasions but it keeps reverting back to Chinese.

Also, when I click on the clock in the taskbar, the months appear in Chinese characters. Now, I had been fiddling with the settings and had added Chinese as one of the languages but removed it so it must be this that made the dates change into Chinese. How can I get them back into English. This isn't my computer - that's the main reason I'd like to get it back into English.

God bless,

Phil.

Have you downloaded and installed the Chinese Language Pack from Microsoft?

If you have, try the following steps:
1. Go to Control Panel.
2. Click "Change Display Language".
3. Go to "Administrative".
4. Click "Change System Locale"
5. Select "Chinese (Simplified, Singapore)" and click OK.
6. Reboot your system and see if it works.

A:Please help. I cannot view web pages correctly windows 8

Hello.
I'm having the same problem here! I'm tired of searching for a solution, but I cannot find anything.
In some pages the only issue are missing pictures, but in others (like YouTube), the layout completely disappear and the text is written in times new roman.
Re-installing and disabling all the extensions did not solve the problem. But I tried to use a couple of times the incognito mode and the problem did not happen.
After refreshing the pages, they work normally some minutes, but with no explanation the problem return and I have to refresh every single site again (some need more than one refresh).

Please, I need some help.

A:Browser hijacked by Crossbrowser, and 3 chinese programs

[OK the previous post was because after typing in a detailed explanation of the problem, I attached the files from the scan and was told I didn't have permission to do that, and I ost the whole thing except the attachment. So I wasn't sure if it was the malware messing with me or I did something incorrect about the posting...guess I just mis-typed something.]

OK, I got hit by some (*&^%$#) hydra thing.
1. It has a broswer called 'Crossbroswer' that hijacked my FF and will not uninstall from the Control Panel. It came bundled with a few other delights, all chinese-titled and texted items; to wit:
2.  a video player which set itself up as my default broswer, prevents me from selecting any other default browser and also will not uninstall. It has a dark green square with a white trapezoid-shape thing in it as the logo.
3. There is something else with a more pea-green with white chinese characters icon, and
4. something that looks like the WINRAR logo (a pile of books) that I've not yet touched.
5. I am also getting a small round thing on the right of my screen that displays a percentage (of what I've no idea) that changes every so often, and it also sometimes brings up a small ad-type window.
6. When I see that, I check my Task Manager and see that there are at least 1 but often several instances of something called 'surfanonymous' running. These I can shut down from the TM, and the ad window closes.
7. I am also getting the fake-Adobe-expired notice constantly. Thank god I've ignored THAT so far, as I read about the malware that comes behind that nasty thing.

Here is the first notepad scan-log, and the addition is in the post above. I don't want to run the risk of trying to attach it again and  losing this again after all this typing.

Hi everyone!

While current language for non-unicode programs is in English, the Arabic texts are encryption and aren't shown properly in any text files.

However, when I changed the non-unicode programs to "Arabic, the texts are shown properly in all Arabic texts.

The most strange is that VGA driver changes to Arabic when I change current language for non-unicode programs to Arabic.

But it is still English when current language for non-unicode programs is English.

I was excepting that VGA(CATYLAST program) was in Arabic when I the driver software was in Arabic.

However, this is not true, and the evidence is that the language changes to Arabic when current language for non-unicode programs to Arabic, and to English when current language for non-unicode programs to English

What is the relationship between current language for non-unicode programs and VGA program?
I think it should still have been shown in English whatever current language for non-unicode programs to English/Arabic?

A:current language for non-unicode programs to English

Could anyone please confirm for me if all my screenshots are being shown because there aren't for me?

I saw this VGA program is strange to be related to current languge for non-unicode programs

Just wondering if Win 8.1 somehow made available a "all programs" list view (as per win 7 start) versus the highly undesirable Metro all programs view ? Can't find any evidence of it ?
Is there a way to boot into desktop view directly (as opposed to metro view) yet ?
Or am I going to have to buy Start8 still ?

Also, is there a "what's new in Win 8.1" somewhere ?

A:"All Programs" List View as per Win 7 versus Metro view

Here is a video I made showing how to boot directly to the desktop in Windows 8.1.

Here is a whole playlist of both Windows 8 and 8.1 videos.

Hi I was wondering if anyone could help me. My friend has a Chinese version of Windows XP with SP3 and an English Office 2007 installed on her computer. All worked fine until the day after Office was installed. Now some of the Chinese characters have been replaced with squares. I tried changing the settings in the Regional and Language Options but as the Chinese characters have been replaced by vertical lines.

If someone can help me resolve this problem it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I ran System mechanic 10 as system was running slow I then rebooted system.

Nothing changed as far as I could tell.

Ran Restore to a later date, said it completed OK.

when I run IE8 some stories on AOL home page won't open so I could read them and my Email won't open any mail.

tried running System Mechanic 10 again and now it won't initialize, it just sits there saying it is initializing.

Deleted System Mechanic 10 and thied to down load with IE8 but it wouldn't download program. I then used Mozilla Firefox to do the download and reinstalled System Mechanic 10, it still wouldn't run.

I deleted IE8 and used Mozilla Firefox to download and reinstalled it, still not working.

I then tried to run Restore again but I only get a blank screen.

I have tried running Norton Utilities and a few other repair programs but still nothing.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

A:Xp programs not working correctly

Bleeping Computer DOES NOT recommend the use of registry cleaners/optimizers for several reasons: Registry cleaners are extremely powerful applications that can damage the registry by using aggressive cleaning routines and cause your computer to become unbootable.

The Windows registry is a central repository (database) for storing configuration data, user settings and machine-dependent settings, and options for the operating system. It contains information and settings for all hardware, software, users, and preferences. Whenever a user makes changes to settings, file associations, system policies, or installed software, the changes are reflected and stored in this repository. The registry is a crucial component because it is where Windows "remembers" all this information, how it works together, how Windows boots the system and what files it uses when it does. The registry is also a vulnerable subsystem, in that relatively small changes done incorrectly can render the system inoperable. For a more detailed explanation, read Understanding The Registry.
Not all registry cleaners are created equal. There are a number of them available but they do not all work entirely the same way. Each vendor uses different criteria as to what constitutes a "bad entry". One cleaner may find entries on your system that will not cause problems when removed, another may not find the same entries, and still another may want to remove entries required for a program to work.
Not all registry cleaners create a backup of the registry before making changes. If the changes prevent the system from booting up, then there is no backup available to restore it in order to regain functionality. A backup of the registry is essential BEFORE making any changes to the registry.
Improperly removing registry entries can hamper malware disinfection and make the removal process more difficult if your computer becomes infected. For example, removing malware related registry entries before the infection is properly identified can contribute to system instability and even make the malware undetectable to removal tools.
The usefulness of cleaning the registry is highly overrated and can be dangerous. In most cases, using a cleaner to remove obsolete, invalid, and erroneous entries does not affect system performance but it can result in "unpredictable results". Unless you have a particular problem that requires a registry edit to correct it, I would suggest you leave the registry alone. Using registry cleaning tools unnecessarily or incorrectly could lead to disastrous effects on your operating system such as preventing it from ever starting again. For routine use, the benefits to your computer are negligible while the potential risks are great.Ed Bott's Webog: Why I don't use registry cleaners Do I need a Registry Cleaner?I suggest running either the sfc /scannow ocmmand...or doing a repair install of XP...to try to replace any missing/damaged system files.Louis

Hi, I am having a problem with many of my programs. For example, my minesweeper does not save my game anymore, my curse client does not open saying it is a logging system error, my google chrome does not save my history and the extensions i have on it do not save any of my history as well, my windows desktop gadgets do not update anymore (my weather is not updating and says it cannot connect to the internet), and my taskbar does not recognize my cursor leaving it so it keeps whatever icon i had my cursor on last highlighted. The last thing I remember installing before all the errors occurred is minecraft and a minecraft server.

Thanks so much for your help!

I am running a legitimate copy of Windows 8.
After I rebooted my laptop 3 days ago, when I open a program, it would take 3-5 minutes to load or it loads right away and once I click on the program it freezes and stops responding.
I have already ran virus scans, used CCleaner, AdwCleaner, MalwareBytes StartUpLite, ran hardware diagnostics and nothing works.
I ran my computer in safemode and all my programs came up and loaded fast.
By loaded I mean to be able to visually see it(GUI).
When I open something it'll be active in task manager but take forever to show up on my desktop.

I live in belgium and naturally buy my hardware here. I don't, however, like to install my sotware in dutch as it's much easier to solve problems in english.
This means that I install an english windows 7 on my pc and I install english versions of software as wel.

Now, even though I do all this, I still get text in dutch both from the system and from software. For example, some error messages from windows itself are in dutch.

Can anyone explain to me how this is possible and how i can change it? It must have something to do with the hardware but when I install software in english, I expect it to be in English!

A:English installs on an english windows still in dutch

I don't think the hardware has anything to do with it. Question is whether you truely installed an English version. If that was an OEM installed Dutch Win7, then it is not part of the 5 language version (En, Fr, Ger, Span, JPN). You need a 5 language version installation disk to get full English. How did you actually install the "English version" - from what source.

A:Windows Installation Not in English, Can I Force It To Run In English?

I would download or borrow an English language Windows Seven DVD. Install it with no product key. You have 30 days to evaluate. Also you can extend that period several times. It's not illegal. See this tutorial:
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...-120-days.html

By that time you should be able to determine you have everything working and can then find out what you need to do for activation to keep it permanently.

Hello computer gods!

I am pretty computer savvy myself but I have repeatedly run into this problem: when I try to uninstall something, most often a windows-related component, I get this silly dialog box asking for a nonexistent .msi (or sometimes it's just a nonexistent directory, no file):

Since this path doesn't exist, the installer reports a fatal error and quits. Therefore I have to resort to those 3rd party applications that search the registry to remove keys, which seems like a way inferior way to do things.

It seems my computer is (or I am, by accident) accidentally deleting the uninstallers for these applications. Anything I can do to NOT delete them? Like when you run disk cleanup do the old .msi files get deleted?

Thank you for any assistance you are able to provide!! You guys are saints.

A:My programs never uninstall correctly: the uninstaller disappears

Can you take a screenshot of one of these dialog boxes?

I recommend Revo for uninstallation, if you are not using it already - Download Revo Uninstaller Freeware - Free and Full Download - Uninstall software, remove programs, solve uninstall problems

Hello, I have been experiencing issues with certain programs on some user accounts on my Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit with. All user accounts are administrators. Three user accounts were set up when the problem started to occur, all but one of them has had issues with Internet Explorer 7 and microsoft Excel. In these instances the programs would load up but the main window under the menu and toolbars would fail to show anything except blue. Although I havn't noticed anything myself I wouldn't be surprised if there are other programs which would have similiar issues on these user accounts. I upgraded to IE8 and that has worked fine. I created a fourth user account to see if the programs would work on a newly created account but with no luck, still the same issues occured. Any help or ideas as to what could be causing these errors with certain programs would be much appreciated.

A:Some user accounts unable to run programs correctly.

Without specific things to look at we could spend weeks trying to fix this. I'd suggest a couple of things:

I suggest starting all troubleshooting with the following diagnostic tests. They'll save you a lot of time and heartache if there is a hardware failure, and you'll have the disks on hand in case you need them in the future:

Quote:
H/W Diagnostics:
Please start by running these bootable hardware diagnostics:
Memory Diagnostics (read the details at the link)
HD Diagnostic (read the details at the link)

Also, please run one of these free, independent online malware scans to ensure that your current protection hasn't been compromised: Malware (read the details at the link)

Then, if the above tests pass, I'd try these free stress tests:

Quote:
FurMark download site: FurMark: VGA Stress Test, Graphics Card and GPU Stability Test, Burn-in Test, OpenGL Benchmark and GPU Temperature | oZone3D.Net
FurMark Setup:
- If you have more than one GPU, select Multi-GPU during setup
- In the Run mode box, select "Stability Test" and "Log GPU Temperature"
Click "Go" to start the test
- Run the test until the GPU temperature maxes out - or until you start having problems (whichever comes first).
- Click "Quit" to exit

Quote:
Prime95 download site: Free Software - GIMPS
Prime95 Setup:
- extract the contents of the zip file to a location of your choice
- double click on the executable file
- select "Just stress testing"
- select the "Blend" test. If you've already run MemTest overnight please run the "Small FFTs" test instead. (run all 3 if you find a problem and note how long it takes to error out with each)
- "Number of torture test threads to run" should equal the number of CPU's times 2 (if you're using hyperthreading).
The easiest way to figure this out is to go to Task Manager...Performance tab - and see the number of boxes under CPU Usage History
Then run the test for 6 to 24 hours - or until you get errors (whichever comes first).
This won't necessarily crash the system - but check the output in the test window for errors.
The Test selection box and the stress.txt file describes what components that the program stresses.
More details on the use of this test: Torture test your CPU with Prime95

Two other video stress tests (may be more stressful than FurMark):
Video Memory stress Test - ??? NVIDIA / ??????? / VMT
Artifact Locator - ??? NVIDIA / ??????? / Artifact Locator
Sorry, but I don't read the language that this website is made in.

Then, please provide the following reports (even though you're not reporting BSOD's): http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-d...tructions.html

Since I upgraded to SP2, some programs won't start correctly. Example is Photoshop. It won't start from the start programs menu. It starts to open then hangs. However, if I click on a JPG or other image file, Phototshop opens just fine. Another imaging program has this problem, but not yet another. I checked to make sure the firewall wasn't stopping Photoshop fromaccessing the internet, but that isn't the problem.

Since I first posted, I chatted with MS support, who told me the expected try uninstall/reinstall, which I did. Turns out it's not hanging, but takes >60 seconds to open.

I checked the first two responses to my post, but they don't apply.

Hi I seem to not be able to install new programs to my computer anymore Additionally programs can not update themselves--the programs that auto-update have stopped working they just quot hang up quot during the install or update process - Programs that don't try to update seem to work fine I can use them save new files and do everything else as normal The problem is restricted to programs that are trying to update or programs I'm trying to install - Restarting the computer or trying to re-install the programs has not solved the issue - I am able to work around the issue for one of the programs Screenpresso by manually downloading the updated edition and installing it in safe mode This tactic does not work on my other programs with quot update issues quot though FocusMe Market Samurai amp SpinnerChief - Disabling all my background monitoring programs in normal startup mode Adaware ZoneAlarm AVG no install/update correctly longer Programs has not Programs no longer install/update correctly helped - The problem has been occuring for about a month and I've been tolerating it because the programs with issues were not needed then Now Programs no longer install/update correctly they are--and I need to figure out what the issue is I'm using Windows bit Thank you for any help with this

A:Programs no longer install/update correctly

Please give a list of all the anti virus and firewall programs you have installed.
