Preferred Solution: BSOD faulty usb driver?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi Lujan -

Did you run the suggested scans? Adaware and Spybot S&D? I can see evidence of Housecall's ActiveX control...did it find anything?

There is no malware showing in your HJT log. From your other posts, it seems like you have windows issues. That said, we can use another scanner to see if there is any malware present. Please do the following:

Please download Ad-aware at http://www.lavasoftusa.com/ and install it if you don't have it already. Make sure it's the newest version and check for any updates before running it. Also go to http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/...2cleaner.shtml to download the plug-in for fixing VX2 variants. To run this tool, go into Ad-aware->Add-ons and select VX2 Cleaner. Then click Run Tool and OK to start it. If it's clean, it will say Status System Clean. Otherwise, you will have to click on the Clean button to remove the VX2 infection. Also make sure to customize the settings in Ad-aware at http://www.greyknight17.com/spyware.htm#adaware for better scan results. Run the scan and fix everything that it finds.

Download and install Spybot S&D http://security.kolla.de/. Run Spybot and click on the 'Search for Updates' button. Install any updates that are available.

Now click Mode menu and choose 'Advanced Mode'. Next click on Immunize to your left. Click the Immunize button (green cross) on top to Immunize your computer - you should do this each time there is an update. Now go to Tools->Resident and make sure that TeaTimer is checked. What this will do is monitor any system/registry changes and will ask you for permission to change any of these settings.

Now click on the 'Spybot-S&D' option on the top left to go back to the main screen. Next click on the 'Check for Problems' button. Let it run the scan. If it finds something, check all those in RED and hit the 'Fix Selected Problems' button. Exit Spybot. If you keep getting the DSO Exploit entries, even after you updated Windows and fixed them, then download the Spybot DSO Exploit Fix http://majorgeeks.com/download4392.html and install it over the current Spybot installation.

Please empty any Quarantine folder in your antivirus program and purge all recovery items in the Spybot program (if you use it) before running this tool.

Download the Mwav virus checker at http://www.mwti.net/antivirus/mwav.asp (Use Link 3)

1. Save it to a folder.
2. Reboot into Safe Mode.
3. Double click the Mwav.exe file. This is a stand alone tool and NOT just a virus checker......so it won't install anything.
4. Select all local drives, scan all files, and press SCAN. When it is completed, anything found will be displayed in the lower pane.
5. In the Virus Log Information Pane......
Left click and highlight all the information in the Lower pane --- Use &CTRL C &on your keyboard to copy everything found in the lower pane and save it to a notepad file
*Note* If prompted that a virus was found and you need to purchase the product to remove the malware, just close out the prompt and let it continue scanning. We are not going to use this to remove anything...but to ID the bad files.

Once you copy that to a Notepad file...highlight the text and copy it here.

The driver that is causing my bsod is affiliated with the process ntoskrnl.exe. I don't really know what driver that may be, some research told me that it was a core file of the windows operating system but, I don't know for sure. I have also done the driver verifier for around roughly 24-36 hours and when it was running was when it pinpointed me to the process that is used by the driver causing the bsod errors. If anyone can look through the logs of my minidumps(I also have a program located in the %systemroot%\minidump thats called bluescreenview, don't pay attention to that in the zip), that would be great .

System Specs:

Code:
Is Windows 7 . . .
- x86 (32-bit) or x64 ? x64
- the original installed OS on the system? Yes
- an OEM or full retail version? Full Retail Version

- What is the age of system (hardware)? Around 5 months
- What is the age of OS installation (have you re-installed the OS?) 5 months, no.

Afraid the were no DMP's in the upload. You uploaded the app not the DMPs.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
OK your way out.
Reboot if changes have been made.

Before I describe my problem I'd like to thank the people who donate their time I've been having minor issues pop up and I appreciate all the help I just installed Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines and when I boot it up I'm getting the BSOD informing me I have a faulty driver that tried to corrupt the system and that BSOD faulty driver it BSOD faulty driver needs to be replaced The error code is x C x x x x I've tried reinstalling and patching and all that I find this odd because the error points to a fundamental problem with my system but no other application including games- BSOD faulty driver I have KOTOR and Farcry installed right now triggers the issue I'm guessing I need to figure out which driver is causing the problem then go about replacing BSOD faulty driver it but I haven't been able to determine how I should go about doing so The eventlog gives me no errors besides the inability to boot viamraid which is a leftover of a poor deletion of a RAID utility for the system or the application Thanks again for any advice

Hi guys First post here as I've looked driver kernal stack on BSOD Error: the Faulty on the internet for a couple BSOD Error: Faulty driver on the kernal stack of weeks now and not found a definitive solution to my problem About a month ago I was having problems with my drivers whereby I was crashing in games and sometimes even browsing the internet with a couple of tabs The game would freeze up and then the graphics card would restore itself but crash the game This was usually followed by the blue screen error I am getting now BSOD Error: Faulty driver on the kernal stack soon afterwards I have done a fresh reinstall of Windows and it has been working fine up until two weeks ago whereby I get sporadic blue screens that occur whether I am on a game have Chrome open or if I'm literally just sitting on my desktop doing nothing So far I have tried disabling and deleting the currents settings for the Driver Verifier but has done nothing I am open to any suggestions or ways around this As a side note sometimes when I blue screen my computer will reboot but the monitor will not load up properly I am forced to manually switch off the computer unplug the cable and hold the power button down for a while before plugging it back in and booting it up again however this only happens half of the time I have no idea what causes this Thanks -As a side note if there are any files that I need to attach I should be able to provide them I have attempted to attach one of my crash dumps to this post but cannot get permission to access it even after changing the permissions under its properties Please note that I am by no means an expert with computers so if any technical jargon could be put into simplified terms that would be very much appreciated Thanks again

Hello anyone who can help me.

This week i started getting these and they are sporadic, sometimes happening frequently almost as soon as windows appears. I have used driver sweeper to clean all drivers and this helped for a while. I have now tried to use combofix but this causes the BSOD every time without fail. I have scanned with AVG and Microsoft Essentials and they come up clean, have scanned from both in safe mode and they identified and cleaned a few things but didnt stop the problem. Relevant files are attached, if anyone has some advice it would be much appreciated.

Hi

For about a week now I can't turn my computer off, it will get as far as saying shutting down (after logging off) then crashes with the message

Faulty driver on the kernal stack must be replaced with a working version

It seems to have started around the time it did a windows update but I also reinstalled Itunes around the same sort of time

My computer was built for me last aug and the specs are:

windows 7 home premium 64bit
4gb ram
AMD Athlon II x2 260 processor 3.20ghz
NVIDIA GeForce GT 520 1gb
Board: ECS MCP61M-M3 7.0, Bus Clock: 200 megahertz
BIOS: American Megatrends Inc. 080015 11/03/2010
Hard drive - Hitachi HDS5C1010CLA SCSI Disk Device (1000.20 GB)
Kaspersky Internet security

I have attached the files from the minidump and system health report

I do have the problem with NVIDIA drivers where they constantly crash although I don't remember that happening since I got the BSOD problem

I believe drivers? faulty BSOD 116 card or graphics faulty the initial crash was caused by overheating Based on the fact that I have gotten it to work for a short amount of time more on that later Booting up with the drivers for my graphics card enabled causes BSOD to appear but when it is disabled everything is fine I can boot into safe mode and I have already reinstalled windows My motherboard is Asus B M-e and my graphics card is Nvidia EV A GTX How I got it to work for a short amount of time I reinstalled windows and then installed my integrated Ethernet driver After that was out of the way I installed and used driver booster to install the rest of my drivers I then noticed there was a missing driver that the program could not install that was named Simple PCI Controller So I thought I should install that driver using my motherboard's driver installation disk It then worked up until I decided to change the settings in Nvidia Control panel I also do not know how faulty graphics cards behave so it might be my graphics card The game I was playing when this started was Life is Strange if that is needed

A:Cpu At 100% Due To Faulty Driver? W/ Hjt Log

Hello bravestarr5 and welcome to the BC HijackThis forum. I do not see any signs of viruses or malware in the log. There are a couple of housekeeping items to clean up so let's do that while you are here.Start HijackThis and click the Scan button to perform a scan. Look for the following items and click in the checkbox in front of each item to select it:R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {CD67F990-D8E9-11d2-98FE-00C0F0318AFE} - (no file)Now close ALL open windows except HijackThis and click the Fix Checked button to finish the repair.I also do not see any anti-virus or firewall software installed. You should definitely have a good antivirus to stop infections before they can start and spread. Here are 2 free anti-virus programs that are available for personal use (I use these on various machines and they are both good):Avast Home EditionAVG Anti-VirusYou should also have a good firewall for blocking unwanted access to and from your computer. These also are free for personal use:Kerio Personal FirewallZoneAlarmIt is best to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system and to keep them updated. As to the AOL issue, if the connection speed and browsing are not affected then it could just be a funky tray icon and I wouldn't worry about it. If it is causing problems then youshouldcontact AOL to see if a fix or workaround is available since it deals directly with their software.Cheers.OT

Hey, I'm hoping somone might be able to help me figure out which driver is causing a seemingly random DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE BSOD on my shuttle XPC.

Also, I'd be a bit curious to find out how you go about tracking down the culprit.. do you basically just have to find the address of the fault and look through the list of drivers in the dump file? I tried to, but got a bit lost..

Windows 7 64-bit, Retail. The system and os are just a few months old.

A:Please help identify the faulty driver

ok, I ended up reallizing my error in how I was utilising BlueScreenView program, and after opening all the dumps, it appears to likely be graphics drivers as far as I can tell. I updated the ATI drivers yesterday, so I'll give it a while to see if I get another BSOD.
Can anyone recommend any other good programs for checking these dump files?

Hey Device Driver Faulty I m about to address my Faulty Device Driver first problem which I didn t manage to solve on my own This forum has helped me over the years and the amazing thing is that I wasn t even a member then But anyways here is my problem Basically it started to happen a month ago My computer would randomly restart itself without any warning mostly when playing games It would restart normally and then would come with a windows message saying that quot The system has recovered from a serious error quot bla di bla bla you know the score At first I didn t bother to do nothin as my computer never restarted when used normally it only did it durin playin games But last week it restarted itself when i was just listenin to some music on winamp and chatting on msn This annoyed me so I decided to send the error report to Microsft The report suggested that it was caused by a faulty device driver That was the only helpful thing about the report Using that suggestion I researched the internet and came across a program quot verifier quot It helped me find the name of the driver I did that because at first I thought it was my video or sound card causing the problem and i reinstalled the latest versions of those and updated my Direct X to version c So anyway the verifier displayed this message when it found the faulty driver quot Io System verification error in NDIS sys WDM Driver NDIS sys at BA D quot I looked around the internet for a solution because at the time this was happening I was running my windows on SP one topic on Microsoft forum suggested that updating to SP may solve the problem but unfortunately it didn t However i also found this website which a guy was having the same problem He managed to fix it by copying the file quot NDIS sys quot from another computer running on SP He did so by renaming the original and replacing it with the new one from the other computer So the reason for my long boring post sorry is to ask for other ideas and whether if i should do the same Basically anything to solve this annoying problem My system spec s are available to see so please help me I m terribly sorry for posting such a long post i just wanted to give as much info as possible as I do not want to ruin my computer Thank you for your time Regards Nav nbsp

A:faulty driver currently on the kernel stack??

Hi

aswsp.sys is part of Avast antivirus. You should run Avast removal tool from "Safe Mode" to properly remove all Avast components.

avast! Uninstall Utility | Download aswClear for avast! Removal

You should also disable "Driver Verifier" as per this guide - Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable
If the issue persists, please follow Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions

A:Cpu 100% Caused By Faulty Network Driver?

I have found out several times that the Microsoft Anti-spyware caused my machine to run slowly. As soon as I deleted the app everything went back to normal.Keep in mind that Adaware and Spybot are not active programs, that is, they must be run by you and do not provide real-time protection the way that AVG antivirus does. I suggest also installing SpywareBlaster, SpywareGuard and Startup Inspector. They run in the background and cause no slowdowns that I can notice.

I'm getting a BSOD in Vista.

BCCode:1
BCP1: 8281D2F6
BCP3: 0000FFFE

If I'm correct then this is typically due to a bug in a device driver (APC_Index_Mismatch)

I've checked through Device Manager and there are no warning symbols on the devices.

I've run a verifier check in Vista for all the drivers. This did not identify any drivers. The screen just stayed blue for a while before starting.

At present the PC starts but it stays blue for a period of time after login. It is also running very slowly.

How can I identify which driver is causing the issue?

Hi All Background I spent a whole day re-installing windows -bit and configuring it plus adding my applications and then doing all the updates The following day I spent re-partitioning my secondary HDD's so that I Faulty Adapter or Network Driver Dodgy could have a partition solely for Steam and Origin games totalling nearly a TB and then copying them from their backup to the new partition Everything was working just fine and I left Steam running updates on some of the games however when Dodgy Driver or Faulty Network Adapter I came back to see if the job had finished I discovered it had not and in actual fact it didn't get much further than when I left it but it appeared the connection was lost Under closer examination it turned out that the device manager was indicating a driver or hardware fault with my Belkin N adapter and another device a USB Hub actually a desk fan with a -port USB hub The problem To solve this I initially thought it was the driver so I uninstalled the driver restarted PC installed latest driver but straight away it reported quot Windows could not installed the device quot or whatever it says under a failed device installation Tried a different USB port - same result Next step try the older driver same result Noticing that my hub that was previously working is now not I thought it could be the intel chipset drivers that control the USB ports - however I already had the latest installed Eventually I managed to over write the newer ones with the original drivers that came with my motherboard Restarted PC and re-installed latest network adapter drivers but again failed to install correctly Installed network adapter on laptop OS XP SP -bit with latest drivers - worked perfectly Side Note originally in device manager the name of the adapter appeared but now it just says quot Universal Serial Bus USB controller quot which leads me to believe the adapters at fault yet it works under xp plus my usb hub went at the same time which tends to suggest the USB driver however I have overwritten them Any advice on how to get my adapter usb working Computer Specification Motherboard Asrock Z Extreme CPU i k GHz RAM GB DDR GPU Pallit Geforce GTS MB DDR Green Edition

A:Dodgy Driver or Faulty Network Adapter

Quick Update:
I just looked up issues with Belkin F5D5083 v3 adapter with Windows 7 64-bit and no-one has had any issues after Belkin released "2.0.0.12" Driver Version plus I had no issue with it in my prior windows installation which I had since at least beginning January this year.

Also I have managed to install a cheap network adapter I keep on standby - with no issues to speak of yet.

Quick Update 2:
I believe its a driver issue as a working USB won't even install correctly in the original USB port.

Hey there I m on a Dell Vostro with Vista SP installed About - weeks ago the HDD decided to pooch itself Miraculously it was able to be recovered wiped and I started again with a blank slate What caused the original wipe is to me shut caused downs driver? faulty Random by unknown I left for the weekend after powering it down and came back to find that It hadn t been tampered with and I kept a clean running virus-free machine Anyways after I installed MSSE for virus protection I went through and Random shut downs caused by faulty driver? did my updates then started to reapply most of my personal applications After I got through some of the more basic ones I decided to try and tackle the ATI Radeon series PCI graphics card in my old box Now before the wipe it worked PERFECTLY I kinda liked it even though it was an ATI Anyways their updating system seems to be botched in the fact that if you don t go in and manually delete the drivers control centre random third party crap they install the updates don t like to work I fought and scrapped with this until I got it barely running with my control centre So after that fiasco it ran fine for about - boot ups After that it started saying that my ATI driver was not compatable with the control centre and vice versa Wasn t this magical About - boot ups after that and the machine would randomly shut down Now when it shuts down I m usually running WoW iTunes and maybe Google Chrome Which the computer before it decided to kill itself would run perfectly fine But now it decides that it needs to shutdown When it does decide to shut down the screen flashes then goes to black The HD light keeps going and the computer itself stays on for seconds or so then it all shuts down What I m wondering is if this is because of the drivers Or because of something that wasn t installed properly Thanks nbsp

Hi all Last week i built my new case with all the online reboots, minidumps driver faulty device same hardware plus a new WD Raptor harddrive which now functions as system disk I installed the software as I always did cuz i never had BSOD problems in the past My OS is Windows XP Pro SP with all updates and I used all the same drivers that i always used Except for the ATI driver cuz there was a newer version faulty device driver reboots, minidumps online available which i downloaded and faulty device driver reboots, minidumps online installed Then i got the reboot problems related to a faulty device driver but the error message wouldn t tell me which device driver So i thought i must ve messed up somewhere and i did a fresh install again But the problem persisted After installing the latest Java Runtime i got my system in a boot loop and with System Recovery i determined that the Silicon Image faulty device driver reboots, minidumps online Raid controller was causing the boot loop Since i don t use that i disabled it in BIOS removed the driver and the boot loop was gone But unfortunatley the device driver reboots kept coming every now and then I removed the new ATI graphics driver Catalyst with the one i was using before Catalyst No luck still reboots now and then Additional info My former system disk a Maxtor gb SATA has a few bad blocks and when formatted it gave a lot of error entries in my system log But it never gave me reboot issues when i was using it as system disk It was just noisy now and then but it works It s now one of my data disks And since the information from the Microsoft error report tells me it s a device driver problem i doubt that it s the cause of the reboots So could someone please analyze my minidumps for me to determine which device driver is causing the trouble please I have already made debuglog txt files as described in another thread to make it easier for u experts and in the filenames i added the system log event id s and error code for that minidump There s minidump for the Silicon Image Raid Controller driver error fixed that but just for additional info file with my system specs and minidumps from the device driver errors that i m still having You can find the files HERE Please help i would really appreciate it nbsp

Hi people of windows 8,
I am experiencing an issue with a prolific USB serial adapter on win8.1.
Google taught me the adapter works with an older driver but not with the latest one.
I can get it to work with driver version 3.2, but when I reboot, the driver is automatically reset to 3.4 and the adapter stops working. I have to manually modify this every time which obviously is a hassle.
Things I tried: in device manager, right click the device, delete the driver. This only works until the next reboot.
Manually setting the driver to v3.2-> same result.
control panel>software: there is no option to delete version 3.4, only to delete version 3.2

Could anyone tell me how to delete v3.4 definitively and to stop windows from updating to the faulty driver?

A:usb serial driver updates automatically to faulty version

You can try to rollback that driver in device manager (from 3.4 to 3.2). That should work for you and it should be permanent:

Good luck,

Split Driver Synaptics on the length of time the computer has been switched on and are affected by disconnecting reconnecting the screen from the dock Being quite good with these things I decided to investigate and have uncovered the following The root cause of Faulty Synaptics Touchpad Driver on Split x2 13-m121sa Causi... both of these problems is the Synaptics Touchpad driver While the newest version available from the HP website seems to solve any unusual Faulty Synaptics Touchpad Driver on Split x2 13-m121sa Causi... freezing of the pointer it has a significant memory leak In other words as you move the pointer around the touchpad uses up the computer's memory This is normal but the problem is that the driver for the touchpad Faulty Synaptics Touchpad Driver on Split x2 13-m121sa Causi... does not give the memory back it cannot be reallocated This means after a couple of hours of using the computer or having the screen closed the memory reaches saturation point and the computer grinds to a halt nbsp If you are having the same problem have a look for yourself Open task manager and look at the performance tab Under the Memory heading you will see a value for 'Non-paged pool' With the computer idle this number shouldn't increase but move the mouse around and you will see it gradually go up without returning I have confirmed this to be the Synaptics driver by using the Windows tool poolmon exe - the culprits are Irp and SynT nbsp Regarding solutions I have tried many - but there is no absolute fix You can uninstall the Synaptics Touchpad driver and the problem will go away - no more freezing or high memory usage But without the driver the computer reverts to using the standard Windows driver - therefore there is no multitouch gestures like scrolling or zooming I have tried installing the generic Synaptics driver available from their website and the computer won't allow it Regardless of this I forced the driver install but the generic driver does not work with this Touchpad anyway Error code I have tried the latest version and an older one with no success Even earlier versions e g x x refuse to run on the grounds of incompatibility nbsp HP Support suggest a system 'refresh' back to factory setting but apart from the huge inconvenience of time and losing files - I know this won't work either Apparently a clean install has worked for one user - but for this you need a Windows install disc or USB which I do not have - and I'm sceptical that it would work anyway So now I'm using the standard Windows touchpad driver without being able to scroll zoom or use the swipe-in gestures of Windows If a HP representative is reading this I would strongly suggest that this problem be escalated A simple update from Synaptics could solve this problem which is causing people's computers to freeze up and wasting your support staff's time TL DR HP's Touchpad driver is faulty and causes a memory leak Synaptics own generic drivers do not work And Windows standard drivers are unsatisfactory Solved View Solution

SOLVED!Through my own research I have found a solution. While the official newest driver listed under this model is 17.0.10.9 there is in fact a newer version which does not have this problem: version 17.0.10.16!I am still disappointed that HP didn't suggest this solution themselves, considering this driver was published back in November 2013! HP if you're reading this: please allocate this driver to this model in your support pages. Anyway, the solution is as follows:1. Open the Device Manager (Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Device Manager)2. Under 'Mice and other pointing devices' open 'Synaptics HID TouchPad'3. In the 'Driver' tab click on 'Uninstall'4. The pointer will disappear - reboot the computer5. Download the new driver from here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?cc=uk&lc=en&softwareitem=ob-127354-1(if this link goes down try searching online for 'synaptics driver 17.0.10.16')6. Open and install the driver I hope this helps. HP, please send my consulation fee via PayPal(!)

Did you recently install any windows updates? If so, their optional driver suggestions could have been crappy. I've seen issues where the wireless stops working if you download their optional drivers for it.

Hello,

Over the past week or so my PC has had a habit of crashing with notably the display switching off immediately and no mini-dumps being created. I decided to see whether a faulty was at work so I ran the driver verifier at least 4 - 5 times. Didn't take long for the results to show up. The system would soon BSOD when I logged in.

The results point towards possible USB driver problems but I don't know what I should do next as I don't want to do an action that can make things worse.

I've ran DM Log Collector and have attached the .zip file (hopefully it has been) to provide some info into this problem.

Memory Testing (including bootable CD's and floppies):

Memtest86
MemScope (Floppy and CD images.)
Roadkil's RAM Test
Microsoft Memory Test (floppy or CD ISO image)

If you have enough memory sticks, you can test them by removing one at a time and see if the problem disappears.

If you are running Vista or 7, tap F8 on boot and choose the memory diagnostic, or if you can boot up, go to Start > Search and type:

mdsched.exe

Choose to run a memory diagnostic on next boot. Or, you can boot from the DVD and run it from there.

Hi,
I recently bought a new, 3rd party power cord for my Toshiba Satellite L300 from eBay.
Recently I've noticed that my battery stops charging earlier and earlier. At first it stopped at 87%, then 83%, then 80% all in one week. I've had the computer for about a year which seems a bit early for it to start degrading so fast, so could it be the power cord?

The Toshiba cord says Model: PA-1750-29, Input: 100-240V~ 50-60Hz 1.5A, Output: 19V[solid line above a dotted line]3.95A
The 3rd party cord says Model: PA-34671ACA, Input: 100-240V~1.5A 50/60Hz, Output: 19V[solid over dotted]3.95A

If the new cord is harmful to my battery, I can just solder its input plug onto the Toshiba charger (that's the only bit that was broken) but I'd rather not risk breaking two power cords if I don't need to.

Thanks,
Marlon

Hey, Just bought some parts into my PC and decided to reinstall who OS to SSD. Everything is disabled, Windows is also nerfed, I have turned off things like before.
These disabled things worked on the older PC without any BSODs. With this new one I am having BSODs, I thought it was pagefile but seems It isnt.
SSD is also up to date with Windows, except pagefile. Everything is disabled to decrease the daily data usage for SSD.
I did already a couple times Memtest86, there were no errors. I just stressed RAMs for 4hours and voila:
Could it be?

Try installing a genuine copy of Windows. The ACER PID on your retail Gigabyte motherboard means you installation is counterfeit. It's worthless trying to debug counterfeit installations such as yours due to the amount of crap modified into the code. Get a genuine installation and if you're still getting BSODs we'll be glad to help.

Hi and welcome. Little doubt about what caused this crash. You were runnning winsat, and the video driver folded

I would re install the video driver
run a system file check to verify and repair your system files
dl memtestx86 and run it for several hours

Good Luck

I am getting frequent BSODs lately and my computer restarts randomly. I suspect its the net adapter, cause when I remove it, it doesn't happen. I bought a new one, replaced it, but the old one is still listed in Devices. I can't uninstall it, so I disabled it.
Here is the dump file I got from the BSOD. I need help to determine if its really a problem with the net adapter, not with something else. Thank You.

A:Can a faulty net adapter cause BSOD?

The crash dump does not point towards the net adapter or its driver but the D1 error code usually relates to a faulty/corrupt driver.

What is the problem with uninstalling the old driver, that is usually fairly straightforward.

Are you still getting BSOD's with the new adapter installed?

Two times in the last week my monitor (a KDS visual sensations CRT) has come on with the image looking like an hourglass (wide at the top and bottom, pinched in the center). This happened imediately upon boot up and both times rebooting has returned the monitor to normal, leaving the computer running does not bring the problem back. Which is more likely, that my monitor is beginning to fail or maybe my graphics card (a saphire, ATI radeon 7000) is failing? Is there some way (other than swaping my monitor out and trying another as this seems so far to be an intermitent problem and may not arise when a new monitor is conected) to check and see which it may be?

Hi
Can a faulty power supply course BSOD?
Thx

A:Can a faulty power supply course BSOD?

It most certainly can. Please post your BSOD log so that our resident experts can analyze it for you.

http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-d...tructions.html

If you can get into the BIOS you might want to check the listings for your PSU voltages and temperatures and post them here.

Failing that, check to see if the PSU is overheating. Better still, remove it and either check it with a wattmeter/ammeter if you have one or take it to your local repair shop to have it checked.

A few weeks ago I started having many BSODs mostly while playing Dawn of War after & faulty RAM replacing random BSOD before II or Crusader Kings II but just in case I thought my games were the issue random BSOD before & after replacing faulty RAM also random BSOD before & after replacing faulty RAM a few while on the internet or doing nothing at all Did some research ran some diagnostics determined it was probably bad memory I ran Memtest and did indeed find errors Continued testing to find only one stick of RAM was bad tested the good one in both slots to see if they were also at fault Didn't seem like it so I ordered a replacement I considered upgrading but decided what I had had served me well enough the last - years As far as I could tell both before ordering and now that it's arrived and been installed this is identical https www natex us ProductDetails FU o Aod-F A g No BSODs as far as I remember in the days before the RAM arrived though I didn't use my laptop much so maybe they just didn't have a chance to Several since but I just got done running passes with Memtest over the last hours and found no errors same as the pass just after I put it in Normally when I have computer issues I stubbornly work it out Googling others' threads but since this may yet be a hardware rather than software problem and I don't want to waste money or accidentally make it expensively worse poking through the innards of my laptop I'm registering myself

I have recently upgraded my RAM from 4BG to 8 and have no been getting the BSOD for the first time ever. They are never the same... I've had the IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and the UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE errors. I am not so computer-savvy that I build them, but I know enough to add RAM.

9 x out of 10 it will happen during gaming, streaming or other video-intensive applications.

I have tried to test my ram but after the test runs I never see a report giving me the status of the ram to ensure all blocks are working properly.

Hi all this is my first post on W forum's so give me heads up on protocol if anything is missed ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Short story Computer has been giving me BSOD's increasingly at random over the last weeks BSOD has always been (Faulty Recurring BSOD - SSD?) Memory_Management the same titled quot MEMORY MANAGEMENT Recurring BSOD - Memory_Management (Faulty SSD?) quot with one sole exception which was titled quot BAD POOL HEADER quot or something along those lines BIOS and SSD Firmware are at their latest releases Included below are the dump files for the crash ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Longer version My opinion at the moment is my crucial m SSD's are failing reads and writes causing the system to crash I've had spontaneous crashes on steam aswell which is located entirely on a separate gb M SSD game files also constantly require validation and often need to be downloaded again Plugins in chrome aswell as Skype crash repeatedly then launch and run without a hiccup seemingly at random Crashes normally occur within a few moments of startup or not for a long time BSOD's did not occur for a few days after reformatting and updating SSD Firmware to G From F BIOS for the Z was updated at the same time System is water cooled however I do not believe this is at all relevant to the crashes since the Sinks have been attached properly and heat readings on all hardware never exceed C with the exception of the GPU under load I know NAND flash is always going to be more volatile memory than magnetic platters but I'm crossing my fingers I don't have to replace any hardware to fix this Any help insights on PC health in general are greatly appreciated thanks in advance to those who reply as this issue is almost rendering the machine unusable

A:Recurring BSOD - Memory_Management (Faulty SSD?)

Your crash dumps are not showing any finite probable cause. In such a situation, it is better to enable Driver Verifier to monitor the drivers.

Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable

Run Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.

Let us know the results, with the subsequent crash dumps, if any.

Edit: Follow what marsmimar said at first.

Hi all, after searching Google I came upon this site and it seems wonderful especially for fixing computer issues. Anyway, about a day ago and several times after my computer has blue screened. It happened too fast the first few times for me to understand what was happening, but I read a bit of it before it restarted and it said it had to do with faulty drivers. What program, or what should I do to eliminate or restore these drivers so my computer doesn't blue screen? I checked the event log but I couldn't understand it, I'm relatively not that good at understanding computers. I can provide you guys with the event logs if you'd like, just let me know how. (also the blue screen happens seemingly randomly)

Hi, I'm having problems with random but frequent BSOD. It occurs randomly, sometimes when idle, sometimes when playing SC2/WC3 and sometimes during startup. I think the problem lies with the motherboard's RAM sockets and the RAM sticks themselves, but I would like a professional opinion before ordering new parts.

Hi.

I have a computer that randomly crashes during the day.
Minidumps refer to ntoskrnl.exe.
I've read a few of the threads here related to ntoskrnl, but I'm not getting any wiser.

Tried a full reinstall of Windows 7 Pro 64-bit, but that didn't seem to help either

I recently changed the RAM from one single 2GB-chip to Two 2GB-chips. Could it be the chips?

Hi there For a few weeks now i have had a few BSOD's One being irql_not_less_or_equal_too

But that i have tracked down to a faulty graphics card which the manufacture has now replaced (Ati 5870 Hd)

The machine seemed to be running fine and then last night i got
" A driver has overrun a stacked based buffer "

I am running an I7, with Gigabyte 333 Mobo and 6gb Of tripple channel ram

The machine is overclocked to 4.0ghz (Not done by myself done by overclockers)

This new Bsod has come after installing the new graphics card and happened while i was playing blackops.

I have attached the latest MiniDump file. and the Last minidump file before the new graphics card.

I have run Memtest for 17 passes and 0 Failures.

I am probably going to run a benchmark for a while see if i can replicate.

Any ideas ?????

Thanks

A:Faulty Graphics card replaced and Still Getting BSOD

Please provide this information: http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-d...tructions.html

Next, please stop the overclock and return the system to default values. Test to see if this stops the BSOD's. If the BSOD's continue, we'll suggest some other tests. The overclock is very radical (2.800 to 3.822 gHz) and is (IMO) most likely the issue here. Since you passed MemTest I'd have to suspect that some overclocked component of the motherboard is causing the BSOD's.

Although limited to only 2 memory dumps, here's what I've found:
2 different BSOD error codes blaming the kernel (core of the OS). If this was the case, I'd expect more errors than just the occasional BSOD - so something else must be to blame.

This may be the start of a pattern indicating a hardware problem, so I suggest starting with these free diagnostics (skip MemTest as you've already run it):

Quote:
I suggest starting all troubleshooting with the following diagnostic tests. They'll save you a lot of time and heartache if there is a hardware failure, and you'll have the disks on hand in case you need them in the future:

Quote:
H/W Diagnostics:
Please start by running these bootable hardware diagnostics:
http://www.carrona.org/memdiag.html (read the details at the link)
http://www.carrona.org/hddiag.html (read the details at the link)

Also, please run one of these free, independent online malware scans to ensure that your current protection hasn't been compromised: http://www.carrona.org/malware.html (read the details at the link)

I am particularly concerned about the age of your USB 3.0 controller drivers. Please disable the device and remove the drivers to test and see if that's the cause.

Beyond that, the problem can also be caused by incompatible or corrupted drivers. Please do the following:
OLDER DRIVERS PRESENT IN THE DUMP FILES
- Please update these drivers from the device manufacturer's website - or uninstall/remove them from your system. Reference links are included below.
- DO NOT use Windows Update or the Update Drivers function of Device Manager.
- Please feel free to post back about any drivers that you are having difficulty locating.
- Windows Update exceptions may be noted below for Windows drivers:

I am getting frequent BSODs lately and my computer restarts randomly. I suspect its the net adapter, cause when I remove it, it doesn't happen. I bought a new one, replaced it, but the old one is still listed in Devices. I can't uninstall it, so I disabled it.
Here is the dump file I got from the BSOD. I need help to determine if its really a problem with the net adapter, not with something else. Thank You.

A:Suspected faulty net adapter causing BSOD

NOTE: I have severe eye problems. If I do not respond to your postings, please PM another staff member for assistance.

NOTE: Please provide the following information for a more detailed response: http://www.techsupportforum.com/foru...ta-452654.html

There's not a whole bunch of info in the uploaded text file. It points to ntoskrnl.exe - which is unlikely to be the cause. we'll need the info requested above in order to massage a bit more info out of your system.

Bug, FWIW, if the BOSD's stop when you replace the network card - then that's most likely the problem.

To uninstall the old card, first remove the software for it from Control Panel...Programs...Uninstall a program. Then, if the device is still listed in Device Manager, enable it - then right click on the device and select "Uninstall". The system may ask you if you want to remove the driver software. Check the box and click OK. Then shut the system down and physically remove the device from your system.

If the device is built into your motherboard, you'll have to disable the device in the BIOS.

Also, please run Driver Verifier according to these instructions:

Quote:

Using Driver Verifier is an iffy proposition. Most times it'll crash and it'll tell you what the driver is. But sometimes it'll crash and won't tell you the driver. Other times it'll crash before you can log in to Windows. If you can't get to Safe Mode, then you'll have to resort to offline editing of the registry to disable Driver Verifier.

So, I'd suggest that you first backup your stuff and then make sure you've got access to another computer so you can contact us if problems arise. Then make a System Restore point (so you can restore the system using the Vista/Win7 Startup Repair feature).

Then, here's the procedure:
- Go to Start and type in "verifier" (without the quotes) and press Enter
- Select "Create custom settings (for code developers)" and click "Next"
- Select "Select individual settings from a full list" and click "Next"
- Select everything EXCEPT FOR "Special Pool" and "Low Resource Simulation" and click "Next"
NOTE: You can use Low Resource Simulation if you'd like. From my limited experimentation it makes the BSOD's come faster.
- Select "Select driver names from a list" and click "Next"
Then select all drivers NOT provided by Microsoft and click "Next"
- Select "Finish" on the next page.

Reboot the system and wait for it to crash to the Blue Screen. Continue to use your system normally, and if you know what causes the crash, do that repeatedly. The objective here is to get the system to crash because Driver Verifier is stressing the drivers out. If it doesn't crash for you, then let it run for at least 36 hours of continuous operation (an estimate on my part).

Reboot into Windows (after the crash) and turn off Driver Verifier by going back in and selecting "Delete existing settings" on the first page, then locate and zip up the memory dump file and upload it with your next post.

If you can't get into Windows because it crashes too soon, try it in Safe Mode.
If you can't get into Safe Mode, try using System Restore from your installation DVD to set the system back to the previous restore point that you created.

If that doesn't work, post back and we'll have to see about fixing the registry entry off-line:

Code:
Delete these registry keys to stop Driver Verifier from loading (works in XP, Vista, Win7):
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\VerifyDrivers
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\VerifyDriverLevel
More info on this at this link: Using Driver Verifier to identify issues with Windows drivers for advanced users

A:BSOD after playing Skyrim - faulty graphics card?

To check the graphics card and your hardware:If you are overclocking any hardware, please stop.

Monitor temperatures during the following tests. Use the following programs to monitor the temperatures. Real Temp is a good CPU temperature monitor.
Speccy - System Information - Free Download will monitor all hardware temperatures.
HWiNFO, HWiNFO32 & HWiNFO64 - Hardware Information and Analysis Tools can be inaccurate for CPU temperatures, but is a good program for GPU temperature monitoring.
Use FurMark: VGA Stress Test, Graphics Card and GPU Stability Test, Burn-in Test, OpenGL Benchmark and GPU Temperature | oZone3D.Net to test the graphics card GPU. Let it run until the GPU temperatures even out or until the GPU temperatures reach a dangerous level (you can find the max temperature for your card on either the nVidia or AMD sites; if you are not sure, ask us). The goal is to get a steady temperature, find out if the GPU is overheating, or to see if there are any artifacts present in the test itself: look for strange pixelated patterns on the screen or colors that do not look like they belong. Then use the |MG| Video Memory Stress Test 1.7.116 Download to test your graphics card memory. Let the memory test run for at least seven passes; the more the better.

Run Hardware - Stress Test With Prime95 to determine any hardware problems. Run all three tests for a few hours each. If you get errors, stop the test and post back here.

Follow the steps for doing CPU stress test using IntelBurnTest

Run the boot version of Memtest86+ paying close attention to Parts 2 and 3 of the tutorial. Also, in case Memtest86+ misses anything and comes up with no errors, run the extended version of the Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool for at least five passes. These you may want to run overnight since they take a long time to complete (run them an hour before bed each of the next two nights and check before going to sleep that they are still running).

   Warning
Before you proceed with the following, answer these two questions: Are you still under warranty? Does your warranty allow you to open up the machine to check hardware? If you are unsure of the answers to these questions, contact your system manufacturer. WARNING: The steps that follow can void your warranty!!!
For Part 3: If You Have Errors: If you swap any memory components, follow these steps for ESD safety:Shut down and turn off your computer.
Unplug all power supplies to the computer (AC Power then battery for laptops, AC power for desktops)
Hold down the power button for 30 seconds to close the circuit and ensure all power drains from components.
Make sure you are grounded by using proper grounding techniques, i.e. work on an anti-static workbench, anti-static desk, or an anti-static pad. Hold something metallic while touching it to the anti-static surface, or use an anti-static wristband to attach to the anti-static material while working. If you do not have an anti-static workbench, desk, or pad, you can use your computer tower/case by finding a metal hold in it, such as a drive bay.
Once these steps have been followed, it is safe to remove and replace components within your computer.
Also, STOP 0x116: VIDEO_TDR_ERROR troubleshooting

And make sure the system has good airflow and the graphics card does not have dust built up in the fans. Also check that no power cables are blocking the graphics card fan from spinning.

A:A range of BSOD problems coming from a faulty piece of hardware

I believe you are right in suspecting a bad cpu as a possible culprit because if memory serves correct; if and when a cpu starts failing; it will generate quite a few bsod's like the ones you have uploaded because its the processor which is the main heart of the system other than the system board. I would definitely switch out cpu's if you know how to do it carefully. And yes after that definitely test the psu.

I have had BSOD for a while and being super busy I did not have time to look at it and get it fixed. Well Being a computer guy I assumed I could fix it myself. But with tons of research and trying to use every guide I can find I decided to try here(probably should have came here first). Today I started Driver Verifier and having it check all drivers. It crashed a couple times before I realized it was a process I had to stop. I then came here to try and get some help sorting out the driver. Thank you in advance for any and all help anyone provides.

Hello,

I would appreciate any help with the following problem: the pc sometimes seemingly randomly shows BSOD with errors named in the title, I also attach corresponding screenshots. The problem wont happen if the PC power is supplied from the adapter AND there is some content running on the screen (video in VLC f.ex.). Other important symptoms are: Can not turn off the laptop. There will be endless blue screen saying shutting down, while PC already stopped working. I also can not get the PC to sleep. If i I go to sleep mode, display turns black, PC is still working on and on and I can not go back to desktop anymore.

Thank you very much for your help.

Hello Zephos.

As per the supplied data, this is the specification of your graphics.

Code:
Name Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000
PNP Device ID PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0166&SUBSYS_21031043&REV_09\3&11583659&2&10
Adapter Type Intel(R) HD Graphics Family, Intel Corporation compatible
Adapter Description Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000
Adapter RAM (2.080.374.784) bytes
Installed Drivers igdumd64.dll,igd10umd64.dll,igd10umd64.dll,igdumd32,igd10umd32,igd10umd32
Driver Version 9.17.10.2932
So, it says it is not nVidia. But as you are saying that it was Nvidia Geforce 650M, and it disappeared, the best option is to contract the vendor. I wish you are within warranty?

I am receiving random BSODs with the subject line description.  My first stop was to the HP Support site to possibly update any drivers (like bios??).  I found many driver updates available, including 2 for the bios.  I really have no clue as to which driver updates to install, even after reading the details.  I looked for where it says recommended or required or something but didn't see it.  I then installed the HP Support Solutions and did a scan to determine what drivers it thought I needed and it came up with none.  Now I'm real confused.  Does that mean all the driver updates on the HP site are just optional?  Can someone provide a good site link to read about how to determine which drivers are needed?  Thank you for your help!

Hi all.

My computer has always had intermittent BSOD but generally it's been only 1-2 a month and after a system restart everything works fine. In the last couple of weeks I've been getting BSOD after only a few minutes of operation every time I start up and generally after these errors the computer won't boot - sometimes it will be a black screen after BIOS check, sometimes it won't even get that far - just black screen without the BIOS check even starting. Usually the only way to get it to boot again is to disconnect the power and remove the CMOS battery from the motherboard. I've run driver verifier which has indeed generated it's own minidumps but I don't really understand what these error reports are trying to tell me - if someone could take a look and point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated.

thanks.

Your BIOS dates from 2010. Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there are any BIOS updates available for your system. Also check the readme file to see if they apply to the problems that you are having. Please be advised that flashing the BIOS is a very unforgiving process - and one mistake can physically damage your motherboard.

Only 128 Windows Updates installed. Most systems have 160 or more. Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available updates (it may take several trips to get them all).

This device has problems in Device Manager:

Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface ROOT\*TEREDO\0000 This device cannot start.

Please right click on it and select "Uninstall", then reboot and check to see if the error goes away. If not, post back to let us know.

Please do the following:
- open Event Viewer (run eventvwr.msc from the "Run" dialog))
- expand the Custom Views category (left click on the > next to the words "Custom Views")
- right click on Administrative Events
- select "Save all Events in Custom View as..."
- save the file as Admin.evtx
- zip up the file (right click on it, select "Send to", select "Compressed (zipped) folder")
- upload it with your next post (if it's too big, then upload it to a free file-hosting service and post a link here).

While waiting for a reply, please monitor your temps with this free utility: HWMonitor CPUID - System & hardware benchmark, monitoring, reporting

Out of 7 memory dumps there were 5 different BSOD error codes (and the Driver Verifier dumps are suggestive of hardware problems also). The differing error codes are usually symptomatic of a lower level problem within the system. They are usually caused by one of these things:
- borked (broken) hardware (several different procedures used to isolate the problem device)
- BIOS issues (check for updates at the motherboard manufacturer's website)
- overclocking/overheating - You'll know if you're overclocking or not. If uncertain we can suggest things to check.
- missing Windows Updates
- compatibility issues (3rd party hardware/drivers) - and older systems
- low-level driver problems
- or even malware (scanned for when we ask for hardware diagnostics from Initial Hardware Diagnostics or Hardware Diagnostics ).

Please run these free hardware diagnostics: Hardware Diagnostics

AMD OverDrive (AODDriver2.sys) is either a stand-alone application, or a component of the AMD VISION Engine Control Center. This driver is known to cause BSOD's on some Windows systems.

NOTE: these symptoms were from the previous release of OverDrive. The new release uses the same driver name, but is dated from 4 November 2013.

Please un-install all AMD/ATI video stuff from Control Panel...Programs...Un-install a program
Then, download (but DO NOT install) a fresh copy of the ATI drivers from Global Provider of Innovative Graphics, Processors and Media Solutions | AMD (in the upper right corner of the page)
Use this procedure to install the DRIVER ONLY: ATI video cards - DRIVER ONLY installation procedure - Sysnative Forums

If the device (AODDriver or AODDriver4.01) remains a problem, open Device Manager, select the "View" item.
Then select "Show hidden devices" and scroll down to the Non-Plug and Play Drivers section.
Locate the AODDriver entry, right click on it and select "Un-install". Reboot for changes to take affect.

Sometimes the driver remains and continues to cause BSOD's. If this is the case for you, post back and we'll give further instructions for safely removing it.

If overclocking, please stop. Remove the overclock and return the system to stock/standard values while we're troubleshooting. Once the system is stable again, feel free to resume the overclocking.

I recently started a new job and was given a new Dell Laptop. I am having seemingly randomly BSOD issues. Some days it doesn't happen at all and some days it can happen up to ten times. I've got several BSOD errors (mainly CRITICAL PROCESS DIED). I believe it's a driver

related issue. I've tried updating all my drivers and firmware to no avail.

I used the Driver Verifier and immediately got errors with sedfilter.sys and symefasi64.sys. I had to boot into safe mode to turn the verifier off. I tried the verifier without those two enabled and got DRIVER VERIFIER DETECTED VIOLATION.

Help would be greatly appreciated, this issue is a real pain!

I have a relatively new computer that I've built and I've been getting BSOD's for a while.

At first I thought it was because the pagefile was disabled, but that was just why they weren't getting logged to MiniDump. Then I got it enabled again and now I'm getting a lot of BSODs. It's been 0x3b ntoskrnl exe lately, but when I enabled driver verifier I was getting a different BSOD on each boot.

One of them specifically mentioned a .sys that I can't exactly remember. it was XXhalp.sys or something, and when I Googled it - everyone was talking about deleting monitor profiles from the registry and that somehow old monitor profiles were causing the BSODs, so I donno about that.

I would appreciate any help you can offer. I'll be actively monitoring this (and I'm currently in safe mode with driver verifier still enabled). So just let me know what you need.

Thanks,

A:BSOD DRIVER-IRQL-NOT-LESS-OR-EQUAL [moved from V/7 BSOD]

Hi -

Download these 2 files; save both to My Documents -

- Microsoft SysInternals AutoRuns - http://live.sysinternals.com/autoruns.exe

- System file collection app - http://sysnative.com/0x8/BSOD_XP_v1.3_jcgriff2_PROD_.exe

Go to My Docs and run the 2nd app. It will run the 1st.

Output = newly created folder in My Docs - TSF_XP_Support

Zip up the entire folder and attach to next post.

Also, Run - Speccy - System Information - Free Download
- "File" | "Publish Snapshot" | Paste URL into your next post

Frequent BSOD caused by dxgkrnl.sys. Ran Driver Verifier on driver. It caused BSOD as well. How can I update this driver if outdated or corrupted?

A:BSOD dxgkrnl.sys- also casued BSOD with Driver verifer

Please follow the http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-d...tructions.html to provide us with more information so we can give specific troubleshooting steps.

That crash often indicates issues with graphics card drivers or the hardware itself and is rarely problems with DirectX (though it can be a problem with Windows corruption).
DirectX comes installed with Windows, so this may indicate Windows corruption. It may also be that you have corrupted drivers or a graphics card hardware problem.
If you are overclocking any hardware, please stop.

Check Windows for corruption. Run SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker up to three times to fix all errors with a restart in between each. Post back if it continues to show errors after a fourth run or if the first run comes back with no integrity violations. Use OPTION THREE of SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker to provide us with the sfcdetails.txt file if errors occur.
Follow the steps for Diagnosing basic problems with DirectX. Your graphics card drivers can be found through the ASUS support site for your motherboard model. To re-install your display card drivers as outlined in the DirectX link, use the following steps.
Download the drivers you want for your display card(s)
Click Start Menu
Click Control Panel
Click Uninstall a program
For onboard graphics:Click Start Menu
Right Click My Computer/Computer
Click Manage
Click Device Manager from the list on the left
Expand Display adapters
Do the following for each adapter (in case you have multiple display cards)Right click the adapter
Click Uninstall (do not click OK in the dialog box that pops up after hitting Uninstall)
Put a tick in Delete driver software for this device (if this option is available, otherwise just hit OK) and hit OK

Alternatively:Login as an adminstrative user
Click Start Menu
Click Control Panel
Click Hardware and Sound
Click Device Manager (the last link under Devices and Printers)
Expand Display adapters
Do the following for each adapter (in case you have multiple display cards)Right click the adapter
Click Uninstall (do not click OK in the dialog box that pops up after hitting Uninstall)
Put a tick in Delete driver software for this device (if this option is available, otherwise just hit OK) and hit OK
Restart your computer after uninstalling drivers for all display cards
Install the driver you selected for the display cards once Windows starts

Remember to try multiple versions of the graphics drivers, download them fresh, and install the freshly downloaded drivers.

I've tried formatting windows 8 and also tried installing drivers seperately for both cards. Nothing has worked so far for me. I am trying to run these cards in crossfire. Both are 7950. As soon as it gets to the part where it installs the display driver, the screen goes black the first time, shortly thereafter the screen goes black second time and suddenly I get a bsod with atikmdag.sys. I've attached my bsod log below. Thank You.

I have tried using display uninstaller, uninstalling amd install manager but none of these have worked so far. I have tried amd catalyst 14.4 and 14.9.

Hi All

Have been following a number of threads to identify my issue. I can only assume that a driver is at fault as when i run verifier i have to start in safe mode. Attached is my mini dump, can anyone help me identify where the issue is?

Thanks a lot

EDIT - Added the full lot of info from the diagnostic tool

A:Random BSOD, ran driver verifier now got 0x000000c9 BSOD

Hi lordmwa.

It appears that you have driver verifier enabled. And the verifier detected the Logitech Camera driver, twice, in two crash dumps.

First, disable Driver Verifier. Then update the logitech drivers from Logitech Support - Downloads, Manuals, FAQs & More.

It is a Desktop PC, and magicISO is not a must for it. I would suggest you to uninstall it, at least upto when you find your computer is stable. mcdbus.sys causes system instabilities.

Free up the startup. Windows does not need any other program to auto start with it, but the auto start programs often conflicts and causes various problems including BSODs.
Click on the Start button
Type ?msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
Select the ?Startup? tab.
Deselect all items other than the antivirus.
Apply > OK
Accept then restart.

I keep having various BSODs on boot only, and after some hours of searching, it seems to come down to memory addressing out of range with drivers, according to the web. However, I could be wrong, and that is why I'm here. NTFS.sys, kernel errors, and IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, 0x0000007E, seem to be the popular ones that have occurred and all multiple times over the last few months. I've nuked all the drivers and updated all the ones I can think of from chipset to peripherals. I'm tired, and not as experienced as the people here with debugging, so I figured I'd dump my report and ask for help. What is causing this boot freeze-up? Also, it doesn't happen every time. I can restart the computer up to 3 times max, and once in windows it is fine no matter how long I use it, or what hardware I use. ZIP is attached. Thanks!

A:BSOD on boot - driver issues causing various BSOD

I would suggest you to uninstall Avast using Avast Uninstall Utility. At least as a test. Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.

See how it goes. Report us for any further BSOD.

Greetings.
Last Christmas, I ordered a 1TB Iomega Home Media Network Hard Drive online. When it arrived, it did not work at all, for my network did not detect the drive, even with seemingly nothing wrong.
Since then, I have called Iomega and replaced the drive, and this one arrived a few days ago. Since its initiation (that is, after it being plugged into my router) the bottom indication LED on the drive has been flashing between orange and blue, which is apparently due to the drive failing to detect a DHCP server.
What is it that I have to do next to fix it?

A:Faulty NAS

Do you assign IP numbers on your network, or do you let the router do so?

If DHCP Server is enabled on the router, it'll assign an IP#. If not, then DHCP won't even be detected. Now, if you DO have DHCP Server enabled on the router, you're probably looking at another dud - this time with the nic in the NAS being bad where the other one was a bad controller. Or even a bad cable.

I was wondering if there was any diagnostic tool out there that could determine if my CPU is kicking the bucket?

My graphics card is fried at the moment, but I also think that either my CPU or RAM is dying. I notice that my computer is running VERY slowly. I'm not sure if this could be contributed to the dead/dying graphics unit, but I'm worried nonetheless.

Thanks in advance.

A while ago I was working on my computer when out of the blue it restarts. I picked the -Start Windows Normally option. Before it even gets to the desktop it would restart all over again. It did this until I removed the RAM sticks from DIMM slots B (slot 3 and 4) Now my computer is really slow. My computer is a HP a250n with 4x 256 ram.

A few days ago I did a full wipe on the HD to see if that would clear up the problem. It works well with only 2 sticks. When I put in the 3rd or/and 4th sticks I get to the desktop fine but only for a few minutes then it restarts and the screen goes blank. I tried switching the sticks but nothing works. What could it be?

A:Faulty ram?

Do a memtest
Have you tried swapping the memory sticks from 3-4 with the ones in 1-2?
This will help verify whether it's the sticks or the slots.
The memory test will help also.

So my mother's Geforce 6200 fan has started to catch on the sides of the heatsink, I have no clue if its because the little axle inside the fan has warped, or due to overheating or maybe even in need of greasing.
My first question would be, is there a way to find out if it is even fixable? Second, if not, are any of you familiar with any north american component dealer stores that I may find?

I'm located in Odessa, FL
Ordering online isn't really an option tho if I absolutely had to I would, I'm more interested in just going to some store and snatching up a new heatsink for it.

A:Is my new RAM faulty?

I'd pick up one of these memory tests, install the memory as the only RAM in the system, and run them. Try moving the memory to different slots to see if the location affects the errors. ANY errors running these tests for any length of time is a problem.
