Q: Roxio Easy Media Creator 7

Hi guys,

I had Roxio Easy Media Creator 7 installed in my computer, and it was working fine. I uninstalled the software and when I tried to install it again, it asks me for a disk eventhough the CD is inserted. What is going on? Help me here. Thanks!!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

In a strange turn of events, Nvidia elected to use Epic Games' media event (instead of its own last night) at the Game Developers Conference to reveal its newest flagship graphics card, the Titan X.

A:Nvidia crashes Epic Games' media event, announces Titan X graphics card

Soo... What are the chances of a 6GB "980Ti" variant? A bit like the 780Ti was to the Titan Black?
Because it would be better for games and a hell of a lot cheaper

If the rumor mill is to be believed, the price is going to be $1,349, Most people who buy this for gaming will have no use of the double precision floating point prowess of the card, and the few that would probably should have spent a couple hundred extra bucks to get a proper Quadro!

I burn a fair amount of DVR disks with games, movies, and personal files. The drive works just fine. I can play DVDs and it reads other disk. However, I have one disk that just isn't reading at all. I ran the Windows Fix it says the media is not readable. When I insert the disk it is loading in the My Computer screen, and then makes a load funny sound and just doesn't read the disk. When it finishes, the drive ejects when you click on it and says to insert a disk. I looked at ISObuster and it also picks up nothing. I'm not 100% certain, but I'm pretty sure the disk was readable at one time. The disk doesn't appear to have any scratches, cracks, etc. Is there anything I can do to get the disk to be readable and work again? It has unreplaceable personal items. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

A:Media in DVD Drive is not readable

Have you tried using the disk in another machine, preferably a machine that has a newer drive? Is the disc a name brand disk that you know was bought from a reputable store?

I picked up a Samsung SyncMaster 930b at a GoodWill near my home, it seemed in great condition when I picked it up, plugged it in at the store, turned right on, Digital popped up in the corner, I thought everything was fine.
Got home, hooked it up to my laptop through a DVI-HDMI cable, the desktop popped up, for about a second, then the screen went black. Now I can only get anything to display when I press the button to switch between Analog and Digital, it will pop up for a second when it switches to digital but then it shuts off again.
I even tried it on an raspberry pi I have and the same thing happened. Unfortunately though I dont have a VGA cable to see if maybe its just the DVI connection. Any advice from anyone or has anyone experienced this before and is it fixable?

Hi, not great with computers and had a look around at various forums and can't find a solution to my problem.

Essentially, whilst I can view the wireless network connections available, I cannot connect to the wireless connection I want to although all other computers at home can connect.

I think the issue is that I have no IP address on this computer (using Windows XP that has just been reinstalled). The result of ipconfig/release is:
No operation can be performed on Wireless Network Connection 2 while it has its media disconnected.

Sorry if further information is required, will provide whatever is needed. Thanks for any help!

A:Wireless Connection Media Disconnected (Windows XP)

First disconnect any wired connection and THEN attempt the wifi.
Something called DHCP is responsible to give the PC an IP address and also the DNS addresses (regardless of wired or wireless).

Afternoon Ladies & Gents!

I've spent a few hours on researching this topic. I can't seem to find what I'd need.

Currently I'm looking for a solution. I have about 50 franchised offices. We've played a TV in each of them. Is it possible to put a device in each office and have a "Server" type device to push content over a VPN to them? Also naturally display this on the TVs.

Any comments or points in a direction would be much, much, appreciated.

Thank you!

This will be my first computer build, so I am pretty much lost on where to start even. I want to build a PC that is set up for some mild gaming, I'm not talking about running huge games just something like garry's mod. I also want it to be something I can use for music and movies, something that I can hook up to surround sound and will have good sound and something that isnt going to be sluggish while I'm using it. I feel like it would be pretty simple, and I also have a custom built computer that my motherboard just went out on (I did not build it) so I will be able to use some parts from that. So, any suggestions on what parts would suit me the best and what I need?

What Manufacturer and Model is the HDD? Also, on Windows 7, I believe the max partition size a computer can recognize is 1TB, so a suggestions is using Disk Management, seperate it into separate partitions of 750 gb or so, then just link them in a RAID configuration. This will allow Windows 7 to recognize it as a single drive, but will also allowed you to use the full 3TB of space.

Hi,

I've had a problem with my speakers for a while. They will just stop working if I skip forward a few songs on iTunes. They also stop working when I skip forward in time in a song in iTunes, or when I skip forward in time on youtube videos.

Disabling and enabling the speakers in playback devices usually fixes this problem. Restarting my computer always fixes the problem.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I'm looking for a service that will 're-stream' a broadcast from a low-bandwidth server so that many more people can access it.

I figured I would use something like Windows Media Encoder 9 for the initial low-bandwidth server to a service with high-bandwidth so hundreds or thousands can access it.

Specifically, I am trying to rebroadcast an actual radio station onto the web. They have very slow connection or I'd point everyone directly.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Did you try running "fixmbr" or "fixboot" from the repair console? Here's a M$ support page on that: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927392

Are you saying that updating from Windows Update trashed the install?

Or, the BIOS in most new boards comes set to run as IDE. Have you tried setting the HDD to "AHCH". (I think that would be called directly, "SATA" in an AMD based board).

Plan "B" always involves trying to boot from a Linux CD to attempt to access and copy your data files, before a drastic measure like zeroing out the drive

I have a Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-920 processor (2.66GHz, 1MB L2 + 8MB shared L3 cache with QPI Technology) which came with the PC i bought back in late 09.

I'm wondering if there is an easy/very safe OC i can preform on it, and will it give me a good performance boost?

I have never OC a cpu but have on my gpu, but from what i read it involves changing things in the bios which sound rather complicated.

A:Easy overclock for i7-920?

Since the i7 920 has a locked multiplier a lot will depend on the capabilities of your motherboard and bios. Basically you will need to raise Bclk to increase the Cpu frequency, this however will also affect Qpi, Memory, etc. You will also need to consider cooling requirements as operating temperature will also become an issue.

Here's a link to a good overview for overclocking this family of processors:

Guide to Overclocking the Core I7 920, 930, 950 to 4.0ghz

Although this guides is aiming for a 4Ghz overclock you don't necessarily need to go that high to see a significant performance boost ... ie: 3.6Ghz would still be a full 1Ghz over the factory settings. Also, stepping is an important factor as the D0 is a much better overclocker than the C0.

A:Windows Media Player 11 won't play fullscreen

I understand that you recently killed off your hard drive and re-installed an O.S. But after the O.S. installation was complete, did we make sure that all the required video drivers were installed as well? Also seeing that you posted that this is about Windows Media Player, did you also go to a couple web sites and snooped around for some (codec) packages? Also you might want to go into Windows video setting, via the (display) or (display icon) in your (control panel) and see what your video settings are and maybe make the required adjustments.

Just a thought..................good luck in your quest for the answer!

A:Choppy audio and video with VLC media player

This is almost certainly because of missing codecs to playback your files.
The correct ones were probably installed and worked before you formatted the pc, but they were deleted in the format.
There are several packs of codecs you can try to solve this, but one I have used with good results is at;

A:SCSI for a media setup?

What are you actually asking for help with?

I don't see the point in 4 296MB hard disks - You might as well bin them! They might sound good, but anything that old, with that capacity is going to be slower than a brand new SATA2/3 hard disk. The speed of new disks will come from the bandwidth of the interface, which will be severely reduced on anything as old as the 296MB hard disk.

A mechanical hard disk with 7,200RPM spindle speed in a homeserver is more than adequate alongside gigabit ethernet at running HD with bandwidth to spare. 10K disks, or SSDs are totally unneeded, and would be pointless in your case anyway, as your external hard disks are going to be throttled by the USB connections they're connecting to the computer with, not the speed of the network (assuming gigabit).

A 1TB hard disk sits around Ł30-40 these days (probably the same money in Dollars), so no need to be looking elsewhere at faster stuff.

It appears that during a storm, my tower was damaged, affected, whatever. The tower will not turn on. However, the green light on the back below the electrical plug flashes when plugged up. I have tried making sure that the on off swich is making contact, and I plan to unplug all the electrical plugs that could have been affected and then seeing if it works, and plugging them back in one by one to see if one of them were damaged. I have been told that there is a fuse that could have been blown but I cannot find a mention of one nor placement of one on the mother board. Is there a fuse?

Hello,

hp media center m1000 steady blinking light when plugged in. will not go on. anyone know what this means?

A:HP Media Center m1000 steady blinking light when plugged in

Sounds like a fault with the battery to me.

Have you tried removing the battery completely, and then running it off of the mains lead only?

EDIT: I see google lists this as a PC, so the above doesn't apply.

Usually on a PC the blinking light is an indication that the computer is in sleep mode. If it won't power up, try removing the power cable, and then hit the power button (to discharge electrics) and then reconnect, and try powering it up then.

Hi all,

I'm interested in setting up a media server in my house where I can access pictures, music and video from devices throughout my house wirelessly. I have an old pc that I'd like to use. I also might be able to obtain an HP Proliant ML350 for this. That machine has I believe six HD bays so I'm going to try to get that one. Either way, I'm looking for a good overview of what I'm going to need to do to accomplish this. Does anyone know of a good link or perhaps you've done it yourself and can help. I have a Linksys E3000 that has a USB port that you can plug a media storage device into but I'm wondering if a server or PC can be plugged into a USB drive.

Anyway, any help is appreciated.

Thanks

A:Windows XP Media Center won´t recognize reinstalled slave HDD

The computer was turned off when you removed the power cable yeah? Or was it running?

If all you have done is remove the power cable there should be no reason for it to stop working. The fact it has, suggests to me that you've either removed it with the computer powered up, or removed something else (like maybe the data lead isn't connected correctly).

The SATA data cable will work regardless of what port its plugged into. I've regularly moved mine around for whatever reason while working on the inside of my computer and its never been an issue.

I have an Hauppauge 1600 video tuner installed on an Intel 55HC motherboard, running Win 7-64. The 1600 tuner has an analog (TV) nipple and a Hi Def. (ATSC) nipple. The problem is that I'd like to be able to channel surf both spectra on a Charter cable connection like I can on a Samsung Hi-Def tuner. That is, I can only install the cables analog stations when I have the cable connected to the analog cable connection, and when I reconnect the cable to the ATSC nipple, I can only scan and find the hi-def cable channels. Is this a limitation of the tuner card, the media center software, or what?

Last time I fitted a Sata drive - it took me ages to locate the raid drivers to make it work with windows XP.
Now I have a VISTA based acer PC - and the HDD isn't even showing in the bios. Can any recommend a SATA HDD - that comes with a driver disk - Hoping I won't need it - as it may be easier with Vista (you don't say that very often)

A:Good SATA HDD - easy to install

The only time you should need a driver is if you're setting the drive up for RAID. For a regular SATA connection you should just plug it and boot.

Which motherboard are you using and which drive is it?

Hi All Recently my older Acer Aspire - notebook hard drive failed on me It s about yrs old Was running Vista Home I of course like an never burned the recovery media from the hard drive And it s just my luck that Acer no longer has the recovery media available They told me there was nothing recovery no hard media Acer longer failed... available? drive Aspire they could do for me and directed me to Microsoft My question is this I have Windows Vista home running on my Acer Aspire hard drive failed... recovery media no longer available? A:Acer Aspire hard drive failed... recovery media no longer available?

You can't legally used your Desktop's recovery media on your laptop (also because usually manufacturer's build such medium for a particular piece of hardware, with all drivers etc. pre-installed).

I think you can either choose to run Ubuntu or you can get one of those cheap OEM windows media from e.g. newegg. However, one draw back of this is, I believe you can't get any help from Microsoft directly, if you ever need it.

I bought a Genius Sound Maker Value 5.1 sound card with the CMI8738 chip. I acquired it only to be able to connect my old joysticks to the gameport because my motherboard doesn't have one.

I had XP x64, but I installed the 32-bit version (Professional SP3) after finding out that x64 didn't support the gameport.

I managed to set up the gameport and it's being recognized as 'Standard Game Port'. At first it had an IRQ conflict with the COM1 port, but I changed the COM1's configuration and fixed it.

But every joystick I plug in shows up as 'Not connected' even though they work fine on other computers.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the gameport and sound card drivers multiple times. What am I doing wrong?

If it's under warranty call tech support, before you do download Speedfan to see what your temps are so you can tell the tech. If the computer was out of warranty i would suggest adding a pci fan and mount it right above your video card. I would also update video drivers and make sure the inside of the computer is dust fee. If the computer is sitting on a carpet put it up on something to get it off the carpet for better airflow.

Hi
I have just purchased a WD mini media player to play my movies on my HD TV.
I have a WD My Book 2T Hard drive and all my movies are AVI.
After setting it all up i have picture but no sound on any movie.
What am i doing wrong or what can i do to fix the problem?
thanks

A:No sound with WD mini media player

There are two WD's the WDTV and the WDTV Live. The Live version of the box can convert DTS sound on the fly but since your using avi that shouldn't be the problem. You have two ways to get the video and sound to your set. One is the HDMI and you need to have the high speed cord to get the best quality (10,000gb/s I believe). The others are Composite (yellow) and component (red/green/blue) for video and then you have to use the (Red/White) audio to get the sound into your TV. There is another option and thats HDMI to DVI and since DVI is just video (like a monitor) you have to use the (Red/White) stereo connectors to get audio to the tv.

I understand how to access the recovery partition in vista, and windows 7. However I have stumbled across a compaq laptop and a gateway laptop that I had attempted to put windows 7 on and get them functioning and sold. But as it turns out, there were'nt win7 drivers for the audio on one, and no win7 graphics driver available on the other. Having no discs for either of these presents a problem with getting them back to the original setup. There is a seperate partition in each laptop, one that says "presario_RP" and the other "Gateway_RP". I assume the RP is recovery partition, but I have no clue how to access and start either of these. Anyone know?

Hi,

I have been using a Eminent Network Media Tank with a built-in WD 1TB hard drive that is FAT32 for some time now. As I have some new content I want to add to it I connected it to my notebook. I installed the drivers from the Eminent CD to make windows recognize the drive (a program called IFS drives was installed into the configuration screen). In the my computer screen I can now see the drive with the disk letter I appointed to it (Z) but when I try to open the drive windows says: "Dirve Z is not formatted, do you want to format the drive now?". Evidently I don't want to format the drive, I just want to access it and add new data. Does anyone know why windows says this and (more importantly) how I can achieve my goal without formatting?

Thanks in advance!

Every media format in ANY player crashing! no issues at all I was thinking is it corrupt media files But why would the media that is streamed online crash too if that was the problem I have installed new codecs Uninstalled several of the media players and reinstalled them Tried several other things even disabling the soundcard at one point to see if that was the issue but the video would still crash I am at a complete loss as to what could have happened S My PC is pretty old now so i am wondering could there be some major errors within the core of Windows which i cannot reinstall because i was never given a disk with the PC in the first place just with Windows installed on it before i had the PC I am using a copy of Windows XP AMD Athlon XP GHz GB of RAM Soundcard Creative SoundBlaster Live Value sheesh ancient i know GFX Card ATI Radeon X Series Secondary Each time anything crashes i rarely get an error report send option unless it is a web browser but like i say nothing ever comes of these reports YouTube or iPlayer are the worst offenders but everything else will pretty much crash consistently and at random points in the file not at a specific time or place Could PC overheating be a problem Do either GFX or Audio cards get too hot and have to cut out to stop from breaking I wanted to say also that if i am using any webpage and not streaming media then the browser never crashes It is only ever when media is streaming from a website Same goes for my PC tho i do recall my PC sometimes restarts for no apparent reason tho that is quite a rare occurrence But could that be due to overheating issues Any help would be so wonderful if you can Thankyou nbsp

Hi!
I found this situation on your website but didn't see the answer or how I can fix the problem and recover my files.

Hopefully someone can help.....

I did all this....

The pc recovery program recognises my drive but says there is no media present.

l tried using disk management also and this did not work. The drive appeared as removable disk F: but it says no media present. When I right click and clicked on properties it says 'flash drive is working properly'. I then when into my computer and right clicked on the removable disk drive and clicked on format and it says 'insert disk into drive F:.

I really don't understand what the problem is, it was working fine until now. Every computer recognises my flash drive but none of them will let me open it.

Any way it can be opened and the files retrieved? Life on Flash!

So you have placed the laptop Hard Drive in place of your Desktop CD/DVD Drive? (as is what I usually do)
And your Windows version cannot see it in My Computer?

With the 2,5" Drive in place of the removed CD/DVD Drive (on its own IDE Cable)
And with the current Desktop system drive still connected (also on its own IDE Cable)

Go to start > Run > diskmgmt.msc > ok
Can you now see your drive?

If so, confirm the Volume type is Healthy and running NTFS (just like your main drive?)

I m running a Lenovo Thinkpad T - I ve had my T for close to a year now and it s been pretty good to me up until recently For a week or two it attempted to randomly shut itself down in the middle of running processes an issue that hasn t come up for a while though I m not entirely sure how I fixed it - if I fixed Media T500: Player Windows Lenovo Flickers? it at all But more recently I ve noticed that if I watch something in windows media player minimizing maximizing WMP causes the entire screen to flicker Flicker as in the entire screen goes black for a couple seconds and then I can see again The odd thing about this is that it only happens when the video is actually playing - if I have the video paused the screen will not flicker It s not a major problem and it s something I can ignore - but it makes me wonder Lenovo T500: Windows Media Player Flickers? if there s anything else with my laptop that s going to decide it wants to work as well Any ideas guys Auvic nbsp

A:Lenovo T500: Windows Media Player Flickers?

Update: I download the DivX player, and it happens on that player as well.

When I open the video, the screen goes black, then partially comes back, then goes black again, then comes back for half a second, then goes black again - it happens 3-4 times every time I open a video file.

This also happens whenever I minimize/un-minimize the video whenever it's playing.

Bah. Any ideas at all?

Hello, My HP is not starting. It is dead, doesn't power up at all. The PSU light on the back of the pc is on, not flashing or off, remains on. Does this mean the psu is working ok?
Could this be a simple change of the power button on the front of the pc to fix this issue? It doesn't appear to be faulty, no sticking. I did the power cord in another outlet. Opened the panel to see if there was anything loose. I don't see any problems. Any help in this matter would be appreciated. Thanks

Light or no light on the power supply doesn't matter... Replace the power supply. With an LED on the back of the power supply, it is a HiPro or Bestec supply?

hi,
i am looking for a DVD which is larger than 8.5GB. does anyone have a suggestion?
also, when i insert a blank DVD, it gets detected as a CD, in Windows and other programs, such as RealPlayer, but the true DVD utilities detect it as a DVD. i am puzzled...

A:DVD Media Problem

Blank dvds don't come larger than ~8.5GB, some stamped DVDs are bigger, but not much. You'll have to go to BluRay if you want more on an optical disk.

Windows XP may still detect blank dvds as cds because it can't burn dvds without 3rd party software. I say may still because I haven't used XP in many years.

I am wanting a new pc and i have found one. The main reason i want one is because i record HD footage of my xbox and my current pc makes it impossible to edit and work with,

Im not good with all this techincal stuff so ill copy n past some info see what you think

CPU: Intel® Pentium® Dual Core E5300 / 2x2.6Ghz
MBD: ASRock G31M-VS
RAM: 2GB DDR2

Audio, Video and Networking
Graphics
* Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 3100
* Pixel Shader 2.0, DirectX 9.0
* Max. shared memory 384MB

Memory
2x 1Gb DDR2 667Mhz Strips

You think that these would allow me to edit and play around with HD footage at 1080i?

i can currently playback HD footage ok its just editing it, which is basically impossible as it is incredibly jerky.

i edit footage in Sony Vegas. Thankyou

A:Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3100 Supports HD?

We have not found the ASRock motherboard to be very reliable, nor have very good performance... spend $25 to $40 more, and get a Gigabyte, Intel, Asus, Biostar, EVGA, Elitegroup, MSI or other board known for reliability, and you might be happy a lot longer.
Some of the Gigabyte boards that are six months on the shelf at Directron, ZipZoomFly, Frys, PCMall, or New Egg are great boards that have had significant price reductions to clear storage space for the hot new models.

Hello All,

A:Hard drive recommendation for media storage

Buy the largest one you can afford. As a general rule the higher the capacity the faster the drive (this isn't always true esp if they are close to the same size). Speed won't really even matter unless you are doing a lot of editing to the videos, and you'll probably be processor limited on that anyway.

So I would say nothing under 1TB. And unless you are extremely concerned about power usage I wouldn't go for any of the 'green' drives or any that are under 7200rpm (I also wouldn't go over 7200rpm).

Hello,

First timer. I just got a pc from my roommate that he wasn't using. When I turn it on, it gives me the screen saying
"reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media"
I pressed F2 to try to switch up the boot priority and the only option it shows is the DVD/CD RW drive, does this mean I don't have a hard drive? I opened up the computer but I don't really know what I should be looking for. All I noticed was two wires that weren't plugged into anything so that added to the suspicion that the computer doesn't have a HDD. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Gabe

If you have a look at the drive on the right, that's what a hard drive should look like

I am assuming that you are using a desktop and not a laptop

hello all,

just have a relatively simple question here. i am privy to somewhat sensitive info not meant for the general public and i store my files on a thumb drive for convenience so i can use any of the various agency machines. If i open a file from my thumb drive, can it somehow be recovered from the host computer I was using after i have disconnected from it? sorry i'm a n00b

A:Removable media recovery from host

I guess you're thinking that data could have been cached on the host and might
be accessible via the cache.

It would be hard to locate and quickly lost due to normal operations.
Some persistent data might be left if the system were to hibernate with the device
attached. The hiberfil.sys file would be present for someone to scan through.

If some data were encrypted, then the act of decrypting would leave tidbits in the temp\ directory.
Use Disk Cleanup after you dismount the USB and before you logoff.

when WMP plays a movie, at the bottom, just below the screen. is a little arrow that tracks along as the movie progresses. Well not all my movies have that arrow, or at least it doesn't move. if you click on it, the movie starts all over again. now this was not always the case. everything was fine until i took my computer to the shop to get it debugged (whatever that is). now on some of the movies/clips the arrow moves and on some it doesn't.

A:Windows Media Player Problems

I don't think this belongs in the Hardware board, but I'll try to help... First, I'll ask a few questions:

What version of WMP are you using?
What OS are you using?
Are you playing from DVD's or off your hard drive? Does it behave differently for one than the other?

A:Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media

you may want to look at your power supply. different optical drives consume power at different rates. If it didn't see the disk in the drive, there is a possibility that the drive was not powered up or spinning the disk at a speed fast enough to read the data. I see that you have a custom machine so its possible that with all the upgrades you now may need a beefier power supply. Thats just 1 of several possibilties. Whats the wattage on the one you have now?

I have two problems:
1)Ive reformatted my computer, booting from Windows Xp Genuine Kit, and deleting the partitions, and then reinstalling one. I had a problem with my product key, and got that figured out with microsoft. I loaded up into windows, started installing the MOBO drivers (InstAll, with my ASUS P5B-SE), Games, Files. I was asked to restart, and in which case, I ended up seeing the message...
"Unable to boot from device, Insert media and select boot device, or press a key to continue"
I cannot overcome this message. Ive reconnected everything inside, checked fan's and my drives. Cant figure this out, and im about to lose it. Spent 200 bucks for WGAK and now my comp isnt working? WTF?
2) My computer now shuts off after about 4-8 seconds from turning on

MOBO: Asus P5B-SE
RAM: 3g DDR
VC: Ati Radeon
Proc: 3.3ghz

Help, Thanks!

Try this

strip the board down, use one stick of memory and just the video card.
