# IE automatic window popup

Q: IE automatic window popup

When the IE finishes loading a window this pops up automatically. Happens on a random basis. How can this be permanently disabled?
A friend of mine even complains that WinXP does it with tasks, but I couldn't confirm this.

Preferred Solution: IE automatic window popup

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

A: IE automatic window popup

I think it might be spyware. Get Adaware and scan your drive for stuff like Save and Gator, etc.

Hi ,

I am developing a BHO in C# that is using Win32 Window with the toolbar , In all the scenarios in IE6, IE7 XP, Vista and IE8 Xp this window is displaying correctly on before IE window i.e it is showing in front, But in Vista IE Protected mode ON, this window is showing behind the IE Main Window,

How to Bring this window before the IE main in Vista Protected Mode ON.

Is there any security restrictions for this ?

Any Help would be appreciable

Am I infected? I've recently started receiving the Automatic Updates popup box on several PCs on my network. It has the two buttons "Restart Now" and "Restart Later", in which the Restart Now is always grayed out. After restarting, it sometimes reappear and this happens throughout the day. I'm quite certain all updates have been applied, but the restart popup still appears. Any ideas?

Thanks,
J

I'm finding in Windows 7 that when I do things like delete files, after the deletion is complete, the Explorer file window doesn't automatically refresh.

I'm pretty sure this never happened before...

any way to set it to automatically refresh or is it a feature of W7?

A:can I set automatic window refresh?

Try this with a system restore point first.
Never had a problem, so dont be the first; System Restore can reset the registry if you do not like the results
Good luck

This should work
Click on Start at the lower left
Type the word regedit in the search box and hit enter
Right click HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT and click Find
Type dontrefresh in the search box and then hit enter
You will see DontRefresh, right click it to Modify the settings, set it to 0
Boot your computer. It should be set properly.
Be sure to make a system restore point first, to restore registry if necessary.

This is probably a simple thing to do, but maybe I missed it.

I have two monitors, each with a large screen. I often move a window from one to the other. If I place it near the top of the screen, Windows happily expands it to fill the whole screen, something I'd rather not have happen.

How do I disable this function?

I have a small monitor and decided to disable the aero "automatic window arrangement" feature (Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Ease of Access Center\Make the mouse easier to use -> Prevent windows from being automatically arranged when moving to the edge of the screen) because I too often would bump windows against the top and bottom of the screen by accident. It's a nice feature, but only on a large monitor.

Problem: This also seems to disable aero shake, which is actually quite useful, even on a small monitor.

Has anyone else found this to be the case? Shouldn't the two features be controllable independently?

A:disabling automatic window rearrangement

If you accidentally bump the edge of the screen, just back up a bit and the "snap" won't happen. Easier than turning it off, IMHO.

I have three computers each running xp pro sp2 connected to a server running win 2000 pro server. One of the computers after logging into the network the logging in window continously re-appears. Have checked the little box to remember me and it doesn't matter if you click on close or ok it goes away but comes back in a few minutes. Have resorted to moving the window into the task bar but then the computer doesn't receive any emails until the ok box is clicked on. I have run several spyware programs and the machine is clean. Can't figure out what is going on any suggestions and how to correct this problem would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi,

Just recently i notice theres a "Get Window 10" notification icon appearing at my notification bar.

I am currently still on Window 7. Should i upgrade it? Will is change anything?

A:Get window 10 popup

Yes it will, Windows 10 looks nothing like Windows 7.

You will have to learn everything all over again.

You have installed an update that enables your computer to be upgraded to Windows 10, if you want to.

I am operating with Windows XP and have been getting a Popup Window entitled: "nmctxth.exe - Unable To Locate Component" It further says:
"This application has failed to start because NETSH.EXE was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem."

I believe this message started after getting a Cisco wireless router and the software "Network Magic." I did download a newer version of it, and also updated my CA Anti-Spyware program which the people at Cisco seem to think it is coming from. However, the message is still there, plastered across the screen every day, and I am pulling my hair out trying to find a fix that will delete it.

Can anybody provide any info on how to delete this annoying Popup?
Thanks!

A:nmctxth.exe Popup Window

I have a problem with a Popup Window that is entitled "nmctxth.exe - Unable to Locate Component". The rest of the note says: "This application has failed to start because NETSH.EXE was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem."

I am running Windows XP, and this message started appearing after installing a Cisco Router and the software "Network Magic". In trying to get help from Cisco, they seem to point to CA Anti-Virus Program I have as being part (?) of the problem. So, I donloaded a newer version of "Network Magic" and also the latest version of CA Anti-Virus. But I still have this *&^%#L( popup message plastered across my screen.

Can anybody suggest help in getting rid of this annoying Popup?

A:Dialup window popup

For the dialup popup, Go to Control Panel > Internet Options > Connections

Make sure "Never dial a connection" is ticked. Let me know how that goes.

For now, I'd like a more comprehensive set of logs from Deckard's System Scanner.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You are using an outdated version of HijackThis. Please uninstall from Add/Remove programs, and delete your current version.

Click on the "Unzip" button to install. It will by default install to the directory - C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis

Upon install, HijackThis should open for you.

When it does, just close it, please. Next....
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) to your Desktop. Note: You must be logged onto an account with administrator privileges.Close all applications and windows.
Double-click on dss.exe to run it, and follow the prompts.
When the scan is complete, two text files will open - main.txt <- this one will be maximized and extra.txt <-this one will be minimized
Copy (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of main.txt here.
To attach a file to a new post, simplyClick the[Manage Attachments] button under Additional Options > Attach Files on the post composition page, and
copy and paste the following into the "Upload File from your Computer" box:C:\Deckard\System Scanner\extra.txt

What DSS will do: create a new System Restore point in Windows XP and Vista.
clean your Temporary Files, Downloaded Program Files, and Internet Cache Files, and also empty the Recycle Bin on all drives.
check some important areas of your system and produce a report for your analyst to review. DSS automatically runs HijackThis for you, but it will also install and place a shortcut to HijackThis on your desktop if you do not already have HijackThis installed.

Hi,I really hope that someone would help me with this problem.I'm running Windows Vista as OS. There are no virus or spyware on my computer - i'm 100% sure. Two things I made today before the problem appeared was to update Vista and to install the live-tv software called Zattoo. The problem is that I constantly get popup windows with the message: "Test".It's the "usual kind of Window popup windows" and not virus/spyware popup windows...Please someone HELP me, because it's getting frustrating (!!!) and I don't want to format the pc.Thanks!

So I have several programs - Google AdWords, QuickBooks, Excel 2007, etc... - that utilize popup windows to perform extra work. It could be posting to the Internet or performing a search/replace...you get the idea.

The problem is that these windows grow increasingly taller every time they open up. They soon become so large that the top and bottom cut off of the screen. This never happened in these programs in any prior OS so this must be a Windows 7 bug.

Does anybody know how to correct this issue?!?

A:Popup Window Issue

I don't know if this will solve the problem or not, but perhaps try setting those apps to run in compatibility mode for Vista or a prior OS. To do this, right click on the .exe for each app in question, select properties, compatibility tab, and click "run this app in compatibility mode" and try selecting different OS modes and seeing if any of them solve the problem. I would start with Vista and work backwards to older versions.

Hi! Is there a way to set constant UAC popup window positions? It appears in different places on the screen depending on application, for example while starting Total Commander with administrator's right the UAC window appears at the left low corner, Symantec Endpoint Protection - at the middle of the screen's bottom. It's not a big problem of course, but maybe it is possible to fix such behavior? thanx in advance

At a guess, I'd say that the UAC prompt appears near where you double-clicked the icon to start the relevant program. If you launched it from the <WINKEY>+<R> Run dialog, then UAC will appear near the bottom left of the screen.

Hi lBottaro
Make sure you have already run Adaware, Spybot S & D(check for updates) as these will do a preliminary clean first. Some files below may not be present after running the above programs.

Good day to all;
On our home pc, we recently had a virus infection and had the pc completely scrubbed. I had asked the tech who was fixing the pc to add the Mozilla Firefox icon as an alternative to IE in case we might need it. He did and ever since each time I logon to the computer in the morning a webpage I once looked at comes up using Firefox. Can someone help me figure out why this single webpage keeps popping up the first thing each morning?

Usually my wife uses IE to get her e-mail and such and we really never use the Firefox. I am pretty sure also that it is not set up as the default. This is more of an annoyance than anything else each morning as I have to close out the Firefox window at logon.

Thanks much!

Is it possible to have a desktop shortcut for clock popup window, the one that appears when you click on the clock in the system tray icon, not the timedate.cpl?

A:Shortcut for clock popup window?

Why? They are the same thing and a shortcut created by right-clicking the Date and Time icon in Control Panel will put a shortcut to the same thing on the Desktop. The first click on the clock in the Notification Area brings up a view of the calendar and analog clock and there's a link to change the settings which goes to the Control Panel item.

Or maybe it's desired to have an analog clock or different clock on the Desktop as was possible in WinVista? If so, right-click the Desktop and choose Gadgets from the menu.

In the past two days a tremendously annoying popup window has started showing up about every minute and a half. It is labeled "Xmarks Authentication" and it asks for a username and a password. I don't have any idea where it came from. I have run a McAfee scan with no result, and have searched the hard drive for "Xmarks*" and found nothing.

Any help getting rid of this nuisance would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi,I just wanted to let you know that this item can be closed. I was able to resolve it by following basic instructions posted by member Hoov in thread http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/ind...p;hl=virtumonde. Basically, I ran Malawarebyte's Anti-Malware first, which found and repaired 7 infectons. Then I ran CCleaner. And finally, I did an online scan using Kapersky which found everything clean. These instructions were very thorough and useful.Thanks.Ed

Hi :)

I would like to know if there is a way to hide the URL part of the window title that appears in popup windows (for example "http://microsoft.com - Microsoft" instead of just "Microsoft" like it would appear in earlier IE versions). I tried disabling the phishing filter (only for "trusted websites" though, because the global setting is disabled on a policy level - this is my work computer) but that didn't seem to have any effect on popup titles. Would it work if I disabled phishing globally or is there an other way? Considering the global option is disabled, an alternative solution would be great.

Thanks!

I'd disable all tasks unless you know for sure you need them.

I'd also uncheck everything in msconfig>Startup and msconfig>Services (after ticking the box to Hide all MS Services) except your AV and any sync. You can add back anything later that you really can't do without starting with Windows, which is usually nothing - maybe a messenger. But you do not need graphics, sound or other software running at startup.

Compare the install you have with the perfect install compiled in Clean Reinstall Windows 7.
If this is the original factory install then that is the worst possible install of Win7.

I notice you have Norton bloatware AV. We see nothing but problems with it, usually solved by uninstalling it and replacing it with a free lightweight AV like MSE or Panda Cloud.

More Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7 will usually always find the problem.

Hello thanks in advance for reading this I m removing spy amp adware from a friend s PC using spybot adaware and Norton AV It seems to have worked but one odd little problem exists During the boot process when the quot Windows XP quot logo with the moving blue bar disappears the screen goes black then the blue background loads for the quot Windows is starting quot screen - this is all normal Before that screen appears though a large popup window appears with just a boot window XP popup Home few quot boxes quot for letters bad font a red X to close it out and an quot Ok quot button Clicking the red X does nothing except make the background go black Clicking Ok is the only way to move past it then the XP Home boot popup window boot continues as normal This does not happen in safe mode I ve gone through msconfig and disabled the startup programs can t see anything in either win or system ini files I m suspecting a dll has been replaced but can t figure out how to find which one Do you have an idea I d like to hear it if you do - thank you Mike nbsp

http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/threat_analytics/HJTInstall.exe

Save the file to your desktop.
Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\HijackThis.
Continue to click Next in the setup dialog boxes until you get to the Select Additional Tasks dialog.
Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
At the final dialog box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
Click Save to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
At the top of the Notepad HJT log screen, hit Edit then Select All then click Edit and then click Copy doing that copies the text to the clipboard, you won't see it yet....
DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

I installed Windows 7 a few months ago. I started having problems soon after. So I reinstalled Win 7, Friday. The same problems continued. One that my son found was when we installed Spy Sweeper. That made it impossible to switch between users, so we uninstalled it.

The other major problem has been the Developer's Tools window that pops up when I try to type any reply or information into any program on the internet. I can't get rid of it by hitting the X. After about an hour on the computer, that stops. Does anyone have an idea on what could cause this?

I have only installed necessary programs since the reinstall of Win 7, Friday. Last night I installed four of my old programs I had used in Win XP with no problems. Jasc Software, Auslogic Disk Defrag, Calendar Pal and Mass Effect 2. I haven't used the disk defrag yet.

I haven't used the disk defrag yet.

hello

First, sincere thanks for all prior insightful remedies...

Upon opening the first browser window it opens to full-screen. Subsequent new browser windows open in the lower-right corner at 25% screen size.

Q: is there a way to have every subsequent (i.e., after the first one) browser window open at full-screen size?

thank you

Dean

A:automatic opening of browser window at full-screen size...

Hello Dean,

Have a look at this post here IE Only Opens In Small Window?

See if that helps, not really sure it will, that's why my preference is tabbed browsing instead of opening new windows.

Internet Explorer Tabbed Browsing - Enable or Disable

If that's not what you're looking for I'm sure others will come along with more suggestions.

So im trying to help out a buddy that I work with.  He doesnt use his computer too often but told me that when he uses chrome and does a google search lets say for example he clicks a result that might take you to msn.com.  instead of going to msn it will shoot him to a random bug website with a popup window.  I recommended he try IE instead of Chrome (even though I prefer Chrome) just to see if it was a browser related thing and so far with IE he has been fine.  I ran Rkill - TDSSkiller - ComboFix - Malbytes - and Adwcleaner on it and none of them found anything.  What am I missing out on and what should I do to help him get this cleaned up.  Thanks in advance for any help!

Two other programs I often recommend to scan for adware and malware are Eset Online Scanner and Junkware Removal Tool.
Clean up the comp first using CCleaner. You can also use CCleaner Tools to examine what is starting up in Windows and browsers

If those suggestions don't work to solve the problem then have your friend to start a Topic in the Malware Removal Forum.
Use these instructions:

Please follow the instructions in the Malware Removal and Log Section Preparation Guide starting at Step 6.
If you cannot complete a step, then skip it and continue with the next.
When you have done that, post your logs in the Virus, Trojan, Spyware, and Malware Removal Logs forum, NOT here, for assistance by the Malware Response Team.Start a new topic, give it a relevant title and post your log(s) along with a brief description of your problem, a summary of any anti-malware tools you have used and a summary of any steps that you have performed on your own. If you cannot produce any of the required logs...start the new topic anyway. Explain that you followed the Prep. Guide, were unable to create the logs, and describe what happened when you tried to create them. A member of the Malware Removal Team will walk you through, step by step, on how to clean your computer.

DO NOT bump your new topic. Wait for a response from one of the Team Members.

Helloes!
I have been having an issue with Win 7 for quite some time with this popup dialog box appearing saying there is "No disk". I am using a non-english version so I am not sure how it looks in english sorry.

It appears as an error message about every 5-10 minutes while the computer is idle.

Some people suggest this occurs because an USB drive has been removed without using the secure removal option in the tray icons.. But I always do it with secure removal. Also, there is an USB stick connected right now. Still t keeps appearing.

I have noticed it starts appearing during and after using MS Excel 2007, but not sure if it occurs while usimg other programs.

Would really appreciate help in removing this problem.

Is there any kind of Registry Hack that can be done to stop this?

Could someone please help me get rid of these popups? I have looked at many old threads from this site and have run so many tests, and just when I think they've stopped, they are back. I get the balloon that my computer may be at risk (one "L" in balloon) and the Windows Secutiry Center popup.

I have attached some of the requested scan reports that were requested of those posting similar threads.

I have done Hoster, the Housecall, the Silent Runners, and the Hijack This log and startup list and am attaching the reports.

Please let me know what to do next.

Thanks!

Hello,

Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them.
Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.
Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
Press Scan button.

It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please attach it to your reply.

Not every time, but every once in awhile after I close my browser window on myspace, it repeatedly pops up myspace windows (usually about 40-50). Most of the time I end up having to manually shut down my computer without going through the shut down process. On occasion I can manage to close all these windows and it will stop.
What is going on with my computer? Do I have a virus? And if so, what can I do to get rid of it?
My computer came with Norton antivirus and after that expired I install McAfee antivirus. Neither program has found any virus.

On to the problem. everytime i open up internet explorer i get a popup window that says "windows installer" then attemps to install windows office 2003.

If you allow it to go all the way thru the process it will get to another pop up that says windows cannot install..please insert the disk or direct to the correct path.

If you cancel out it pops up again...if you cancel out once more it will not pop up again until you open another Window.

Installed there is a microsoft windows office 2003 "60 day trail".
My guess is that the 60 day trail is up and now its trying to install itself somehow...so how do i get rid of this? Thanks in advance for any help.

A:MicroSoft Office 2003 popup/install window

Firstly, you can check 'Add/Remove Programs' in the control panel to see if there is any reference to the Office 2003 60 day trial. From there you can remove it.

However, internet explorer probably has a reason for trying to install it. Perhaps, one of the applications associated with it is part of the Office suite - look under Internet Options --> Programs to see which applications may be used by IE. Also, while your there you might want to check the 'Add-ons' option near the bottom of the dialogue to make sure that there isn't anything which requires office (or any of its components).

If this still doesn't work you could always use Firefox - www.getfirefox.com
