I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Monitor turns black and doesn't load before XP loading screen

Could you explain this again please"?
"turned my computer back on and held the Power Button until it shut down, all of which I did not turn on my monitor or move anything"

Do you mean you pressed the power once then held it for 4 seconds? Do you normally turn your system OFF this way instead of using Start /Shut Down?

Sounds like this is a desktop, recommended practice is to turn the monitor ON then the system, after use, turn the system OFF then the monitor.

Standby, Suspend to RAM and Hibernation where windows is concerned, do not always work and are highly hardware and setup dependant.

If you turn the monitor off and back on it will stay normal for maybe a second before it goes pitch black again. Hello everyone I'm new here and I want to start by saying I have minimal experience with my computer I just built it yesterday using a YouTube video to guide me so when replying with an answer don't hesitate to ask obvious questions I built my gaming computer yesterday and it turned on I installed Windows and everything was working fine However just a while ago I took out one of the smaller cables that goes into the CD drive not the one that supplies power but the other one and connected it to my hard drive because I only had two of those cables and one was going into my SSD I wanted my computer to detect both hard drives so I went into the BIOS and I saw that it acknowledged both hard drives and then I clicked save and reset Unfortunately the new problem is my monitor won't display anything It was working fine and all I a but Computer screen my on, black turns has monitor did was change the smaller cable from the CD drive to the hard drive and now my monitor won't display The cables going into the SSD and the HDD are both connected into the SATA ports on my motherboard and they both are also connected to my power supply I have checked to see if it was Computer turns on, but my monitor has a black screen the monitor by some unlucky chance and it is working fine I plugged it into another computer using the same power outlets so it's not the outlets either My computer turns on and I hear no beeps or anything and my screen does not display quot no input quot or anything like that it simply has a black screen the monitor is on and connected with an HDMI cable which I used to connect it to my laptop to test to see if it works Computer turns on, but my monitor has a black screen I also have a VGA cable that I connected when the computer would turn on and it too works for display but does not work when I'm trying to boot it right now I also have connected my mouse which has LED lights and it would show the lights upon power up but now the mouse is not lighting up anymore when connected to the USB port in the back but it is connected to my laptop and it works What could be the problem Do I need to replace anything Help would be appreciated greatly

I have been using Samsung SyncMaster 740N 17" LCD monitor for about 2 years.
I have Windows XP SP2 installed with UBuntu (installed with wubi).

Everytime I boot, the vendor screen first comes ( Lenovo) and then there is no display. The monitor power LED flashes
continuously. Then, the first operating system in the boot menu loads up after sometime and till I get Windows XP loading
screen, no display comes in the monitor and it is just black & the power LED flashes. Sometimes, I dont even
get the Operating system loading screen. Its just black after the Vendor screen comes. Then I have to restart it using
the button in CPU to reboot it again to see if everything works properly atleast in the next time.

What could be the problem. Is this a problem with monitor or operating system. Please help.

Boot the Win7 DVD Repair console or Repair CD, accept any offered Repair. If none offered or it fails to start afterwards, then boot back in to Recovery Options to run Startup Repair up to 3 separate times with reboots.
Startup Repair - Run 3 Separate Times
System Repair Disc - Create

Make sure Win7 partiiton or it's 100mb System Reserved boot partition (preferred) is still marked Active, then run the Repairs again. Partition - Mark as Active

Try running a free bootable AV CD scan: FREE Bootable AntiVirus Rescue CDs Download List

If it won't repair, post back exactly what results from each test. Copy out your files if needed:

You may need to run Factory Recovery partition or disks, or wipe the HD of infected or corrupt code to re-install windows 7

Hello I am having trouble with my Dell XPS i lately It has served me well all these years and I would like to squeeze a few more months out of it if possible while I wait on the second gen k iMac refresh this year hopefully So here is my problem My monitor goes black after booting up past the windows loading screen and the fans slow down soon after power save mode The only way I have been able to get past this is to Windows black loading goes Monitor 7 screen after power off and remove a stick of ram so that the computer recognizes a change on the next startup only then will it move past the loading screen and work flawlessly But now that doesn t seem to work anymore either So I am back to a black screen after the Windows loading screen The monitor is new and I should mention that my computer does not beep on startup although I m not sure what that signifies or if it is important at all I am hoping that since my Monitor goes black after Windows 7 loading screen computer is so old it might need the motherboard lithium battery replaced but I have not been able to extract it on my own without taking out other components that are in the way So before I dig in and manually destroy my computer trying to take out the lithium battery I thought I d ask first in hopes that there s some easy fix I am missing Any leads or help would be appreciated thanks

Edit: Some of these are for black screen after login, you can still try them (if applicable)

To be honest I have no idea why this is happening. You can search for "black screen of death" in forums, there are countless threads about the subject.
Some solutions:
- Boot with Last Known Good Configuration (F8 menu)
- Restore to a prior date (System Restore) - System Restore
- Scan for malware (Malwarebytes Anti-Malware free)
- Try a clean startup Troubleshoot Application Conflicts by Performing a Clean Startup
- Check if explorer.exe is running and start from CTRL+ALT+DEL (task manager - new task)
- Verify in registry: HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Microsot\Windows NT\Current Version\Winlogon to make sure 'shell = explorer.exe'
- Follow SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker
- Try loading defaults in BIOS

A:HELP! Desktop turns on and restarts repeatedly, other turns on to black screen

Desktop 1:

Do you see anything on your screen at all while this is happening?

Have you tried to press the setup key to see if the BIOS will come up and make changes?

Do you have any USB devices (other than keyboard or mouse) hooked up? If so, try disconnecting them and see if it will at least POST or attempt to go into the OS.

WARNING: Before checking the capacitors, disconnect the power cord on your system and press & hold the POWER button to allow the power to discharge! Also, you should always ground yourself before touching computer components to prevent static discharge!

Just FYI, some of the motherboards in this series of HP’s have issues with the capacitors.

You should take a look at the capacitors to see if the tops of them are raised or discolored. Also, if you put your finger on the top of the capacitors, they should feel as if they are INDENTED and not flush or raised. Raising or discoloration (up to and including a black tar looking substance on the tops indicate a leaking capacitor).

Desktop 2:

Any POST sounds (beeps) produced at all?

Have you tried the monitor from Desktop 1 on this one?

Anything at all displayed on the monitor, to include CHECK CABLE message?

Recommendation: Open the case again and ensure that all the cards, memory, drive cables and so forth are all connect properly and not loose or dislodged.

Do you know how to RESET your BIOS to default using the onboard jumpers?

Here is a detailed link on troubleshooting this issue:

Hey guys, I've built my computer and the motherboard (ASUS A7N8X Deluxe, 2.08 Athlon 2800+ chip) turns on and gives power to the hard drives, but the monitor doesn't turn on. The one problem that I can think of is that my motherboard doesn't recognize the video card I put in it and since the motherboard doesn't have an onboard VGA slot, I don't know how I can get the monitor to turn on. Any ideas?

A:Help: CPU turns on but monitor doesn't

doesn't have onboard VGA slot?? I'm not sure what was meant by that statement, so I'll just run throught some basic things to check and some additional info you need to provide.

What is the rating of the Powersupply you are using in the machine. Wattage as well as rail current ratings are important.
what are the full specs of the system?
Is the video card well seated in the AGP slot?
Is the monitor cable properly connected?

Without having that additional info, its difficult to go any further

This problem has been going on already for about a month as far as I can recall The laptop turns on but the display is totally empty and Windows does not start at all This happens frequently after hibernation sleep What I do usually is I just turn the laptop off and turn it on again and the OS starts successfully but now it takes more than twice and it may be dangerous already to do such The laptop is still under warranty and I have it checked already at the store where I bought it The tech person did a few tweaks in the power settings It did work but after a little less than hrs the problem came back I am working as an architectural intern and most of the programs I use are heavy D drafting and D modeling softwares e g Autocad Sketchup and Lumion as well as Adobe Photoshop I use Sketchup very often Just mentioning this as it may have some bearing to the problem Thank you very much

If this is still the factory preinstalled WIn7 then that is a corrupt install which causes many of these problems, which is why most tech enthusiasts will not run it but choose to Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

A:Monitor turns black?

Farmgirl: I suggest you take the side off the tower and check carefully all the capacitors on the mobo to see if any are bulged or leaking.

Next, using Device Manager, try updating your video driver, or use Windows update Custom Scan to see if there is an updated driver for your card. BTW, if you have card installed in a AGP or PCI slot, check the capacitors on it, too.

You can also run a Memory test as a bad memory stick will give you probllems similar to yours.

Good luck.

OK, first of all no one [other than you] has any idea what we are attempting to fix/troubleshoot. Post ALL of your exact system specs; ie exact mb, exact ram, exact video card [if used] exact pw supply, etc, etc. Note do not post 8gig of ram; post the exact brand and model# Do that for all of your parts.

If this is a big box system ie dell, hp, whatever, post the exact make and model# If you have a service tag# post that as well.

hi and welcome to TSF first check the cable connections just to rule out any loose connection next check your video card is properly seated next please post the wattage of your power supply unit the last two require that you remove the side of the case to gain access to the card and the psu make sure you have unplugged from the mains and that you ground yourself ie with the side off touch a unpainted area of the case with your hands then gently but firmly press down on the video card it is easier if you lay the comp on its side the psu is the box on the upper left corner inside the comp there should be a sticker on it telling you the wattage ie 500w

When you say you could hear the computer on do you mean the windows start up sounds?
--> Try removing the jumper for the internal battery, if no jumper then just remove the battery itself for 30 second s, then put it back in and turn on.

Does your mobo have an internal speaker (beep)? If not, try plugging in a headset and listen for error messages

This computer used to have a lot of viruses and spyware, which we removed. We recently moved and after we set the computer up, the monitor went all weird. This always happens when I turn the monitor on. Please help, and preferrably use simple language as I am quite dense about computers.

A:My second monitor works on boot up but then turns black!

sorry for the late reply RWARD18888, It sounds to me like the setup with the adapter is causing a problem with DHCP, for your screen to display certain content, it needs to do a digital handshake, if the VGA is being used then the handshake isn't going to happen (VGA is analog), since you're using a digital and analog signal at the same time, the digital will always take priority over the VGA, so it's only displaying on the other screen, as for the screen cutting out, it maybe a fault with the adapter itself or cabling, have you got a HDMi to DVI cable? you can then use the DVI adapter for the samsung monitor then.

uninstall ALL of the nVidia software from Programs, and then remove the driver.
Shut down the PC, then switch to the new card.

Hey Jason,
Some times 3rd Party software creates conflict during the startup.
You can try booting into Safe mode with Networking and disable unwanted 3rd Party Startup Programs and services from MSCONFIG and Task Manager in case of windows 8. You can also run a malwarebytes scan to check for Malwares.

I am encountering an issue of when the Dell optiplex 755 boots up, it boots through the Windows XP logo just fine, once it tries to transition between the logo and loading the system up, it just shows a black screen and nothing else happens. I tried using a bootable Windows XP flash drive to repair the system files and it loads the Windows XP setup ok but when it runs through all of the commands on the bottom of the screen and the last one says "Starting Windows" , it takes me to a blue screen (screenshot below). I have HIRENS and have done a lot of the chkdsk commands to fix the files and everything comes back ok. I tried to clone the hard drive with the same exact hard drive and still the same issue. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks for your help in advance.

When you start a slideshow with Windows Photo Viewer, it fades the monitor to black and then starts the slideshow. The problem is that on dual monitor setups it blacks out both screens, and exhibits buggy behavior if you try to use the other one. It will allow you to see the other monitor's windows if you can manage to bring them into focus (using alt+tab for example) but if the slideshow ever gets focus again, it returns to blacking out the second monitor. Is there a way to turn off this "blacking out" behavior? This wasn't something the Photo Viewer in WinXP did - it left secondary monitors alone and just played the slideshow on it's own display.

A:Windows Photo Viewer slideshow turns secondary monitor black

Hi Vecctor, this behavior can be by design. If you want to switch monitor, that is using slideshow on the secondery monitor, you can hold Win key+Shift and use left or right arrow to switch.Hope this helps!Sean Zhu - MSFT

A:Monitor is jumbled, distorted, pixelly on startup, turns black when gets to desktop

I take it your system has a dedicated card while your motherboard has integrated video. Is the integrated video disabled in the BIOS? If not, do so. My question is based on what you gave: "May not use onboard video with add in video device."

Also, that pixillation is information that either the card is overheating or dying. But do the above first.

Are you using a Ubuntu Live CD, or are you dual booting?
If you're dual booting, you can access your ntfs partition from Ubuntu using steps listed on many many web sites:
Some are easier than others.

As for fixing your Vista. I have reservations because in some of my steps Vista has this nasty habit of overwriting the master boot record with its own without warning you (making you unable to boot into ubuntu if you dual boot), so research some more, and proceed with caution. If you boot into the Vista DVD, I think you can click repair, and you have a bunch of options and it looks like this:
I haven't tried them in a while so I can't really recall what each does.
You can try going back using a restore point. Be VERY cautious with "Startup Repair". I think that's the one that rewrites the master boot record. (if you really need to try it, research how you can backup the master boot record in ubuntu, then restore it if needed - usually a flash drive, a floppy, or a bootable CD may be needed - you most likely would be able to do it from the live cd if you know the steps though).
And if all else fails, do a repair install. Can't recall how it's done, but there are many sites dedicated to that topic. You can also ask around the forum about it.

How old is the hard drive. If over two years old, you might want to buy a new drive just to preserve the data on an old one, which you can then rescue in a hard drive enclosure on a USB cable.

Try taking out your graphics card, if your xp disc is SP1 try SP2.
The 34 minutes is the installing devices section.
Its the graphics card it is may now be dead..or you can try using the onboard gfx just to pass installation..

Try another card/onboard and clean the agp slot with compressed air.

Hello I've come to hopefully find a solution to a boot up problem I'm having with my computer There are several factors that I'm honestly not turns black only but Computer on screen. sure will play a role or not mainly because I'm not very understanding when it comes to computers The problem is that when I push the power button of my computer it sends no signal to my screen I can't tell if it loads anything or not either I can think of a few things that might have some effect on this but I'm not sure About three months back after cleaning my neglected tower of dust and such it started to shut off rapidly after boot up To inspect the problem I had a friend look at the computer He removed the cooling unit on the Processor revealing that my year old computer had next to no thermal compound So after putting of Computer turns on but only black screen. ordering some for about three months we had applied some about days ago The computer then booted up fine but seemed to have an excess Computer turns on but only black screen. amount of lag So I wiped the computer and reinstalled XP Computer turns on but only black screen. tonight When it was booted up it worked fine so I went into IE to download firefox as it's my preference then started reinstalling my drivers First I installed my Videocard then kept my computer booted up for my sound drivers which I got from the Compaq homesite After doing this I rebooted my computer Not I wanted to get simple things such as AIM and and Java So when i go to boot up Firefox from it's default homepage my computer shuts down when I go to reboot it it doesn't start and I'm forced to unplug and plug in the tower It continued to boot me from various sites So after getting fed up with that I reinstalled my Oblivion having already installed my sound and video cards After about an hour of playing that it froze that's when I shut down my computer manually and tried to reboot it and it starts but doesn't send anything to my monitor After reading a few posts on here I took out my video card and cleaned made sure it was connected and retried I still got nothing Is there any chance anyone could give me a hand with this all

A:Computer turns on but only black screen.

Ok, so after further testing, hooking my monitor to my onboard video card gets no results either. I've tried removing my memory sticks one by one, also leading to no results. I've tried a different power supply as well, giving nothing new.

What happens is when i try and playing a source game for little while the screen goes black, sound skips, but the laptop still runs. Also happens when i click on certain internet links.

I assume that i need updated drivers, which i did. but that didn't work either.

Hey Tech Support Guy's users,

Yesterday, I got back to my house, and went on the computer for a short while, then while looking on the internet, my Inspiron 1525's screen died on me. Not only my main screen, but also my other monitors as well, saying there was no signal. I was assuming that it is a dying Video Card, but I wanted to have more insight regarding my question. Is my fear correct, or it is the drivers? I haven't updated my drivers since 4 months ago, so I doubt it is my drivers.

Any who, if you need more information from me, please ask away and I will respond as quickly as possible.

P.s. I wasn't do sure if I was suppose to put it on Hardware or Window 7 section. Felt like, it could be a window 7 error.

Hello all This is my first post here so please excuse me if I have created this thread in the wrong place For quite some time perhaps about two-three months my screen has been flickering and turning black at random times Sometimes my screen will be fine for a few days in a row and then it might flicker for a few minutes and eventually just turn black Usually what I do and turns Screen flickers black is turn it off and on a few times and eventually it returns normal The thing is I know it is still turned on because my music player will still operate and it is a lighter shade of black meaning I can still faintly see what was on my screen Further I initially thought it was an issue related to my charger being wrecked Screen flickers and turns black but I have since replaced this and the problem persists My guess is that it is some sort of virus which I am basing on my quick reading of some other websites where others have reported similar problems I m really not a tech whiz so does anyone have any suggestions Any input will be highly appreciated nbsp

I'm not very well versed in this area, but it does sound like a case of a faulty monitor since your programs run as per normal during those flickers.. You might wish to post more details on your specs and age of your hardware.

A:PC Turns on BUT my screen is still black/blank?

Is this a new build that will not post or has it been running then developed a problem?

Have you tried disconnecting ALL drives [both hd and optical] removing any usb device ie printer, scanner, hub, etc and then pw ON? See if the mb will reliably complete POST. If it does complete post a few times, then start connecting devices one at a time until you find the failed part. If it does not complete POST in the above config, then you will need to start swapping parts with known good units; start with the pw supply.

Next post ALL of your exact system specs; ie exact mb installed, exact ram installed, etc. Note 8gig of ram does not really tell us much; 8gig of corsair 123xxx, tells us a lot more.

A:Computer turns on, but black screen :(

Inverters and bad backlights can be hard to diagnose without just replacing the parts but it sounds as one or the other is out/going out.
If you check these out yourself, good luck. Laptops are a bear and unless you've done a few, a repair shop may be best.
Good luck.

Ok so im trying to help my friend with her broken computer She got hit with the avsoft virus It took me a while but I finally got malwarebytes on her system and had to rename the exe in order to get it to run in safemode and it seemed to have worked pretty well i then wanted to boot it in normal mode and run a full scan to make sure we got everything Anyway we were experimenting with it is Computer on, but turns screen BLACK! for whatever reason i guess malware removal had us feeling brave and we unhooked her monitor and plugged her desktop computer via the monitor cord into my laptop i know that you can plug a monitor into a laptop and use that instead of the laptop screen so we wanted to see if it would work with the desktop instead of the monitor You know like use my laptop as the monitor and keyboard I went into the my laptops nvidia control panel and messed around with some of the settings All of a sudden my laptop screen went Computer turns on, but screen is BLACK! black I just rebooted and my laptop was fine but when we plugged her monitor back into her desktop and rebooted it would not reboot correctly The lights on the computer would turn on you can hear it is running the Computer turns on, but screen is BLACK! fans are running it makes one beep just like a normal startup the screen displays a logo not the windows logo an everex logo for a few seconds and then some text comes up like normally and looks like it proceeds to load but it flies by so quick you cant read it and then nothing A big black blank screen Some things I have already tried At first I thought i messed something up so i tried plugging her desktop back into my laptop and messed with the nvidia settings again but to no avail I tried booting in all the safemode settings it acts like its loading and then nothing it just stops I tried hitting f to get into the recovery console nothing just takes me to the black screen I tried opening the desktop resitting the RAM taking the CMOS battery out and resetting the bios I went into the bios and set it to its safe factory defaults and then tried the optimal defaults still nothing Did i somehow fry her graphics card or something Or maybe is it possible that malware bytes deleted some sort of system file any suggestions Her system is running windows XP SP gb RAM PC G motherboard Award BIOS and Im pretty sure her video card is onboard the motherboard Im not sure about her processor I cant exactly get in to check either Also i was no sure where to post this so if im in the wrong thread please direct me where i might get more help answers nbsp

But when i'm barely using it goes to a black screen and stays there untill i press the power buttom.  It happens most of the times when i'm reading something or using word.I don't know how to fix it and it's really anoying. The screen turns black, but ir doesn't turn off, it's like there no image, but still the light is on (idk if it's well written, im from argentina)Please i need help, i cant return it because im not in the country. I was playing around with Task Scheduler to turn on laptop at specific time, it works great. However, while the system starts up just fine, the screen remains black until I touch the mousepad.

Now that doesn't seem like a big deal, but what I was experimenting with is having the computer turn on so I could use TeamViewer app on my phone to access my desktop when I'm not home. Problem is, TeamViewer won't access desktop if screen is black and if I am not physically present, I can't tap the mousepad.

Anyone know why the screen doesn't turn on? It worked great on my old Dell with Vista, system and screen came on know problem.

So. I turn my desktop on today, and it sits there, the main monitor light just blinks, my secondary monitor, after showing the MSI screen, just shows this

After that, nothing. Computer is still on but nothing happens. I was thinking maybe something is wrong with my primary monitor, so I type in my password and hit enter. no sounds. I unplug my primary monitor and restart. No change.

My computer was also unplugged all night. The only changes made yesterday was the installation of System tools. Would that screw my computer over?

Any advice, tips, suggestions, or explanations are all welcome. I use this computer for working, and I have a mountain of important information on it.

removing the battery with the power cord unplugged and holding the power down for 20-30 secs (reset BIOS?) then put the power cord back in and tried to turn it on.

Just turning it off and on a few times(I guess it could be stuck in sleed mode?)

I tried to light up the screen with a flashlight to see if the LED went out but screen was still black.

A:Screen Flickers Then Turns Black(When Gaming)

Possibly a heat issue. Have you cleaned out the inside of your system recently?
Try installing something like Speedfan (free download, easy to find via Google) and have that running. Then you can monitor your CPU, GPU etc temperatures.

Also, ensure all your drivers are up to date.

No guarantees this is the problem but anything that is fairly quick, free and easy is worth a shot first of all.

ok so the problem is that sometimes you can see the picture and sometimes you can't see it. i don't know what causes that but that's what happens. i got it working again. but after it went to sleep the screen never came back on. would that mean that there is something wrong with one of the windows files? i know one of them is the one used to bring the computer back from sleep mode. it's running windows vista. maybe this isn't a hardware issue?

But that cannot be the case because it showed the windows loading screen on the monitor.
This problem keeps occuring now. It was working perfectly fine up to today. I booted the computer up in safe mode which worked fine, and re-installed the latest nvidia geforce 7300 se graphics card driver. I then rebooted in normal mode and the problem still occured where the screen is black and says "no PC signal." I don't know what to do now, i tried a new vga cable already, but that didn't fix it.

Ok, so...I just got over my BSOD problem by disabling crossfire on my system. It was working fine for a few days (And it still technically is), but I'm having a strange issue now. The computer turns on and loads windows fine, but the screen is black until Windows actually loads. Basically, I don't see a splash screen for the motherboard and there's no way for me to get into the BIOS.

Has anyone experienced this problem before? Any ideas?

System Specs:
Processor: Intel i7 3960x
Motherboard: ASRock Extreme 9 X79 chipset
16 GB of RAM: Corsair Vengeance 1600 Mhz
Graphics: 2 x Radeon 7970's (Both cards are connected, despite Crossfire being disabled)
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate - 64 Bit

A:Screen goes black UNTIL windows turns on: Can't get into BIOS

Does the motherboard have a built in video port? You could try hooking your monitor to that to get into the BIOS. Then from there.. not sure, maybe the internal video port was enabled by a BIOS reset or something, try turning it off and maybe it'll then use your normal card(s) during POST?

Hello I am not sure if this is the right place to ask my question but I have a HP Pavilion dv us Notebook running Windows vista bit I was working in ds max yesterday and then my screen black and flickers turns screen Laptop then began to flicker and go semi-black with horizontal vertical Laptop screen flickers and then turns black white lines and it kept going back and forth until the screen went black altogether I restarted it a few times and most recently Laptop screen flickers and then turns black the screen appeared for a few seconds and then it flickered again and kept going black so I turned it off I am not very familiar with PC computers so I am not sure what is the problem but I am hoping that someone can understand my issue and give a solution to it I have read around on various sites that say it may have to do with a backlight bulb issue or something along those lines but I have no idea if that's what it is Also I connected it to my tv and the screen shows up on there so I don't what that means but hopefully it's not too complicated to fix Now I am thinking it's the screen display inverter but I could be wrong Is the problem that I need a new screen display inverter or is it something else Thanks in advance for any help

There could be several reasons for your problem, but I am leaning toward your graphics driver, see if it works in safe mode.

Sounds like your video card is not installed and setup properly. I'd recommend going through the whole installation & setup from the start. If the problem continues then you need to test the vide card.

I have started booting from USB and testing that kind of stuff. But suddenly a day when i clicked restart while pressing shift the menu popped up normally but when i try to restart in any way the screen just turns black. I have tried all of the different options and all turned black: boot from device, repair startup (something like that) and bios settings (UEFI or something like that).

And i think this has happend to me before and i fixed it without removing any battery or anything like that..... i think.

BTW i am not the best at computers.

And google is not my friend, i have googled for hours.
