Q: False Detection Banner Ads of Fix Windows Errors & Update Windows Drivers

Hp Pavilion -b w All-In-One Original OS Windows x Upgraded to Windows x but I do have a folder Program Files x Infection date Errors Fix Windows & Ads Drivers Windows of Banner Detection False Update and initial symptoms I think this started in False Detection Banner Ads of Fix Windows Errors & Update Windows Drivers February My computer was infected I hard a very hard time getting rid of it so i decided to nuke it I did a recovery with the HP recovery set and then did a reset for extra reformatting After that I did all updates for windows upgraded again to more updates everything worked fine until I opened Microsoft Solitaire Collection When I signed back into the app the option to sync all False Detection Banner Ads of Fix Windows Errors & Update Windows Drivers my other apps popped-up When I clicked yes I thought it meant I wouldn't have to log into all my Xbox for PC False Detection Banner Ads of Fix Windows Errors & Update Windows Drivers apps individually and it would keep me logged in I was wrong it brought back and replaced almost everything I had on computer before the recovery and reset Things like my desktop background and my favorites list in internet explorer and who knows what else Then in the beginning of March I reinstalled Magic Puzzles app from the Windows Store App and one day I got a pop-up window stating my flash player is out of date click here to update I closed the app through task manager because I know click windows like that closed can trigger a download Unfortunately the third I got annoyed and clicked it closed I never got the pop-up again but I started getting 'fix windows errors' or 'scan to fix windows errors then 'you have message' then 'click to update your windows drivers' The variety and quantity of these banner ads keeps increasing and legitimate ads are appearing less The other free apps I have don't show these banner ads they don't show any ads the space is white and the commercials that are suppose to play in my Xbox for PC games don't load It's like the fake ads have taken over the ad permissions in my apps Current issues and symptoms The problems I'm having with my computer are a It takes longer to boot along with apps IE and websites take longer to boot b Some images on webpages don't load they show a box with an x in it c The logo image on some of the icons in IE favorites list are slowly disappearing and being replaced with the IE logo d Buffer overflow when trying to access Microsft's virus and malware protection site and Saftey scanner page Links to pages don't exist or can't be found I was given this link by advisor Broni when I clicked it I got 'page not found' if you click it and get access to this page then for sure something is messing with my computer Windows users video is messing up I didn't click it Also some videos had poorly loaded ads on the flash player screen like the outline of overlapped boxes g Wireless mouse connection problems lagging cursor when there is no over resource use by a process in task manager and process explorer h Sometimes the computer comes out of sleep right after I put it to sleep and i didn't touch anything i Websites stop responding frequently j Sound problems sounds effects that are suppose to be continuious have breaks in them delayed sound effects spikes and low sound effects Steps taken in order to remove the infection I ran a scan with MalwareBytes Anti-malware nothing was found I also used SuperAnti-Spyware only some tracking cookies were found but you can see those results below dated and After that I didn't try anything else on my own and I came here and posted in Am I Infected becuase I've been wrong about having malware on mycomputer before I also wasn't sure if the ads were on my computer or if Preferred Solution: False Detection Banner Ads of Fix Windows Errors & Update Windows Drivers

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: False Detection Banner Ads of Fix Windows Errors & Update Windows Drivers

I'm sorry about the mess I made yesterday when I posted 6 threads of the same topic, I only meant to post one. What happened is, when I clicked the post button it took a long time to load or transfer me back to the virus, trojan, spyware, and malware removal logs page and show I posted successfully. Instead I was redirected to an error page, so I tried it again, again, with and without attachments. When I gave up and went back to the  virus, trojan, spyware, and malware removal logs page, that's when I saw all my attempts did go through. I've been getting a lot of redirects to error pages, sql errors, and denied access of select Microsoft pages that are about malware and viruses. Below this I'm attaching screen shots of the error page I was redirected to, along with the fake 'fix window's errors' banner ads I'm seeing in my game app and found their location in appdata, I'm not attaching the actual image file it's the screen shot I took of inside the app. I've also noticed something odd when I open the properties of some of the apps in appdata, I swear I see the display change when I click on the security tab. It's like there's a red mark of some kind next to a group user name but then it's gone, it' happens so fast all I see is a flash of red and I get the same thing when I open system32 folder. I see a glimpse of a view yellow folders and below them 2 files @OpenWithToastLogo.png and @TileEmpty1x1Image.png that have a floral image on the icons and then some DLLs but in a flash the display changes to a long line of folders and the floral icons are moved further down the page. I hope I explained that right, it's the type of thing that makes you feel like your crazy because it happens so fast. I can't see any words or shapes, only colors that are there and in a flash they're gone. Another thing that's odd and messing with me is my recent look at the files in system32\drivers, I don't remember seeing so many blue font files. And am I correct that blue font means packed or compressed?

This is a very common problem and I am wondering if anyone remembers the fix to it.

Basically I run 2 printers on our business system that I finally had to move to windows XP and to my dismay
XP is slower, less reliable, has fewer features and it doesn't print to any of my HP printers after one runs out of paper.

Effectively if the printer EVER runs out of paper I have to reboot to print because the out of paper error never
goes away.

Anyone remember what the fix is?

I am running both an HP 6p through a USB to LPT and an HP 2500c directly to the parallel port.

It doesn't seem to matter which runs out of paper, if one does wammo all done until I reboot.

Help

Hi!

I installed a couple of Windows updates a while ago and my a/v (Avast! 5) detected mscorsvw.exe as a rootkit. I think that the update that triggered the warning is KB979916, a security update for MS .NET framework 3.5.

Since I thought that it's a false positive I chose to ignore the warning. Later I scanned for malware with Malwarebyte's Antimalware, Windows Defender, Windows malicious software removal tool, SuperAntispyware (free) and Avast! and none of these programs detected anything suspicious.

I scan my computer for malware on a weekly basis, all of my programs are fully updated. What do you think guys? Is it a false positive or should I be concerned?

Check the attached screenshot and HJT log if you like. Thanks in advance!

A:Any way to hide "you have hidden important updates" WGA nag banner in Windows Update?

Description of Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA)

It's pretty basic. The core of it is, they are a company that sells computer Operating System software and don't want to be ripped off. And to prevent rip-offs from updating beneficial security and other support they provide FREE, they require you run the WGA.

That isn't unreasonable.

Don't like it? Get Linux or whatever.

Hi,
Running IE 9 and tried to update to IE 11. Said I needed to update my Windows 7, 64 to SP1. found the update and attempted to install. Install failed and message said "restart your computer and try again" tried again and it failed again. Now Windows Update cannot update the PC, error message says "cannot update while files are in use"

I'm at a loss on how to fix this, any help is greatly appreciated

A:Windows 7 SP1 update failed, causing Windows Update errors

Well; one thing i can tell ya is that when it says cannot update while files in are in use basically means you need to restart your system. Try restarting and see what happens. It may tell you either when the system is in the process of restarting; that its configuring updates. Do not do a hard power down as that can cause even more issues while its updating.

I have a new laptop with Windows XP SP on it IE though I use Firefox not IE and Tool Gdi+ Vs. Microsoft Update Detection Questions About & Microsoft Update Windows MS Office Student Edition The latest update that popped up as quot high priority quot Questions About Microsoft Gdi+ Detection Tool & Microsoft Update Vs. Windows Update from Windows Update is this GDI Detection Tool KB It sounds like you have to install it then run it and then visit MS Office website to check for updates Is this worth doing Can it cause more problems than it will help I thought Questions About Microsoft Gdi+ Detection Tool & Microsoft Update Vs. Windows Update I ve read about issues when updating MS Office with security patches And that you have Questions About Microsoft Gdi+ Detection Tool & Microsoft Update Vs. Windows Update to download yet something else to even check for Office security updates Or do Office security updates come through Windows Update and I don t need to worry about this But if that s the case then why even have this GDI thing available I m always worried about ending up with a bunch of conflicts with other programs like AVG ZA AutoGK DVDShrink etc And I m always hesitant to install something that has to run on my system I ve got AVG and ZA keep both up to date and I have Automatic Updates turned on just to let me know when there s a critical update so I don t have to visit the Windows Update site to get updates I was thinking I would only do the updates to Office that come through Automatic Updates and not worry about any others Also what s the difference between Microsoft Update and Windows Update Is it better to have Microsoft Update or does that have its own set of problems associated with it And if you do use Microsoft Update does it install something else on your computer Any help is appreciated -- thanks

A:Questions About Microsoft Gdi+ Detection Tool & Microsoft Update Vs. Windows Update

Well to start off the difference between windows update and microsoft update is as follows. Windows update is what originally comes with the computer and only updates the windows platform. If you choose to upgrade to the microsoft update it will check all of your microsoft programs for updates.
As far as going to the office website for updates... unless you want to install non-critical updates to your office suite then you shouldn't have to at all. Finally - that GDI+ detection tool is the little program microsoft uses to scan your computer for any of their products - that is if you use microsoft update and not the original windows update.
So if you like your computer to maintain critical updates by itself for the microsoft programs than yes use microsoft update and yes install the GDI+ decection tools.

Hope this helps you out!

We are seeing a lot of these lately so I thought I'd sticky this for a few days.

The Estalive detection is a fase positive by Pest Patrol of the key placed in the registry by SpywareDoctor to immunize against Estalive at the following location:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\ActiveX Compatibility\{a2b7a0f0-b697-4a71-8d91-43443f57d7bb}.

If you have this key, double click on "compatibility flags" and if you see a value of 400 then that is the case.

It was also being detected by Zone Alarm but I understand that's been corrected now.

Here is a link to some discussions about it:

Hi,

I'd like to chime in about a browser extension that has been receiving false positive detections on some AntiVirus programs. The Wajam social search enhancer is an application allowing users to get recommendations from friends on Facebook, Twitter and Google+ whenever they search. Wajam may be offered as an add-on as part of a software download, but in every case, you have the opportunity to opt-out of the download. The extension is never secretly added or forced upon the user.

If installed by mistake, follow these quick steps to remove Wajam: http://wajam.com/howto/uninstall/

If you experience a bug, or would like help in the uninstall process, feel free to reach out to [email protected]

Thanks,
Alain

A:Wajam false positive detection

you have the opportunity to opt-out of the download. The extension is never secretly added or forced upon the user.Hello -Are you willing to list some of the downloads that do include your program ?? If you are not, then will you please tell us why not !! No reply to this request should then be taken as the fact that you are not willing to be very open about this program, and you wish to keep its locations hidden !!Only people that conduct honest and open business are not afraid to include these details, otherwise it must be treated like Adware / Foistware or Spyware that is secretly installed on your computer. If the writers of Adware / Spyware programs know more about your program, it may called honest and not a sneaky add-on ...............Often we have requests to remove these "un-asked for add-ons" that are secretly included with other legally downloaded programs. If we know of these programs then we are able to tell people that there is an add-on included, and to Refuse it or Not include it if they wish to not have this program -Are your add-ons Pre-ticked, and must be manually unticked / refused, or are they available for people to personally select, only if they wish to install freely ??Thank You if you do Read and Answer -

wmhelper.dll is a MusicNet belonging to MusicNet Client SDK (iMesh release build) from MusicNet, Inc.

it most likely doesn't like it because its an oddity, you should be fine.( Its just a P2P(Peer-to-peer sharing network))

The software is designed to connect to the Internet and adds a Windows Firewall exception in order to do so without being interfered with.

Anybody experiencing false detection in ESET Smart Secuirty 7 and 8 with the latest update?

Here is a screenshot that every software installer in my External HDD ONLY, with extension of ".exe" has been detected as win32/Sality.NBA virus even though they are not virus.

A:False Detection in ESET Smart Secuirty 7 and 8

I guess that's your flash drive? Think your flash drive as a whole got infected...

Edit: Oh it's your hard drive.....So you plugged it into a system that was infected, and that's how it got all .exe files as malware.

Hello all as you can see by the title I have minimized windows deselcted, games errors. and Windows update being being a couple of problems so I figured I would put them all into one thread to make it easier Okay this all started when all of a sudden windows would Windows being deselcted, games being minimized and windows update errors. be deselected and if I am playing a game it would be minimized I brang up a resource manager and saw that there was something there called System Interruptus not sure if this has something to do with it or not I then went to update windows because I hadn't done it in a while when I get error I have tried to fix it but to no avail I have also deleted the contents of the SoftwareDistribution folder except for the ReportingEvents log So basically I need help with these two things the windows being deselected and minimized is probably the most important as it is the most annoying but I thought maybe updating windows could fix it basically I haven't updates since installing Sorry about being so vague and not having much information but I don't know why these problems would be occuring Thank you in advance for your responses P S I have scanned twice with malwarebytes anti-malware since this occuring and it only picked up one virus on the first scan and since I hardly ever torrent or anything like that I am doubting it is malware but I'm not ruling it out as a possibility

Hi,
I came across an issue that I find confusing. Whilst trying to install a software to run a mobile USB flash modem, the software pops this message:

*************************************************************
your current device installation settings is configured to prefer drivers from Windows Update over locally installed
drivers. This can cause Unlimited data Manager not to work correctly.

do you want to change the settings to prefer locally installed drivers over Windows Update?
**********************************************************

What does it imply if I change my settings to prefer locally installed drivers over windows update drivers?
And can this action be undone and where/how? (I searched my machine but didn't find where this option is)

Thank you for reading

I am running ComboFix on a Dell Dimension 4550 with XP Pro SP3.I've run into this a couple of times before. This time I need to make sure because one of the real time scanners being reported as active is: VirusRanger 3.2.I am unable to find any reference to VirusRanger in my Registry or Hard Drive. Is this a false positive? Where, and how, can I find the reference to this being active? How do I remove this if it is a false report?ThanksEdit: Moved topic from XP to the more appropriate forum. ~ Animal

I just want to hear others thoughts on this subject. I have read a couple of articles that state the possibility of Anti Virus software providing and cleaning viruses that were never there just to appear to be doing its job. I personally think that is a stretch. I mean what development company has time to provide for this kinda functionality?

Anyway, What do you think??

Hi all Thanks in advance for any help that can be offered First off it is worth noting that the only aspect of my computer not working correctly are my graphics drivers where I get a crash with the infinite loop error randomly whilst gaming or watching videos This is varied in frequency sometimes happens a few times a day sometimes not for a few weeks The reason I post is that my Avast antivirus scan is run regularly and recently I did a thorough search of literally everything It popped up with THREATS detected as listed here Win Small-HUF Trj in PROCESS f Win Small-Gen Trj in PROCESS JS Agent-AU Expl in PROCESS All in 'application ' From my research these are embedded in the memory currently in use for detection- Virus/spyware/trojan positive? false the processes on the computer Virus/spyware/trojan detection- false positive? and during a scan in safe mode the same errors are located Virus/spyware/trojan detection- false positive? Furthermore I have scanned with Symantec Kaspersky and Ewido online scanners and found NO trojans spyware or viruses which leads me to the question is avast giving me a false positive or is it really picking something up that the others aren't After picking up the threat avast cannot do anything with it no repair moving deletion or renaming Oh and a further note I use some stardock apps to make my XP SP feel like Vista Hope this isn't a problem and helps explain some of the processes loaded on startup Have a gander at these logs and let me know what you think Logfile of random's system information tool written by random random Run by Mike at - - Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack System drive C has GB free of GBTotal RAM MB free Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v Scan saved at on Platform Windows XP SP WinNT MSIE Internet Explorer v Boot mode NormalRunning processes C WINDOWS System smss exeC WINDOWS system winlogon exeC WINDOWS system services exeC WINDOWS system lsass exeC WINDOWS system svchost exeC Program Files Windows Defender MsMpEng exeC WINDOWS System svchost exeC Program Files Alwil Software Avast aswUpdSv exeC WINDOWS Explorer EXEC Program Files Alwil Software Avast ashServ exeC Program Files Norton Ghost Agent VProTray exeC PROGRA ALWILS Avast ashDisp exeC WINDOWS system ctfmon exeC Program Files Gigabyte Gigabyte WP GS Wireless PCI Adapter SoftAP Installer WINXP RaUI exeC Program Files Common Files Apple Mobile Device Support bin AppleMobileDeviceService exeC Program Files Bonjour mDNSResponder exeC WINDOWS system inetsrv inetinfo exeC Program Files Norton Ghost Agent VProSvc exeC WINDOWS system nvsvc exeC WINDOWS system wscntfy exeC Program Files Norton Ghost Shared Drivers SymSnapService exeC Program Files Mozilla Firefox firefox exeC Program Files Windows Desktop Search WindowsSearch exeC WINDOWS system SearchIndexer exeC WINDOWS system SearchProtocolHost exeC WINDOWS system dllhost exeC Documents and Settings Mike Desktop RSIT exeC Program Files Trend Micro HijackThis Mike exeO - BHO Spybot-S amp D IE Protection - - F - D - - D F - C PROGRA SPYBOT SDHelper dllO - BHO SSVHelper Class - BB-D F - C-B EB-D DAF D D - C Program Files Java jre bin ssv dllO - BHO Windows Live Sign-in Helper - D - C - ABF- ECC- C - C Program Files Common Files Microsoft Shared Windows Live WindowsLiveLogin dllO - HKLM Run Norton Ghost quot C Program Files Norton Ghost Agent VProTray exe quot O - HKLM Run avast C PROGRA ALWILS Avast ashDisp exeO - HKLM Run P Helper Rundll P dll P HelperO - HKLM Run NvCplDaemon RUNDLL EXE C WINDOWS system NvCpl dll NvStartupO - HKCU Run ctfmon exe C WINDOWS system ctfmon exeO - Global Startup GN-WP GS Utility lnk C Program Files Gigabyte Gigabyte WP GS Wireless PCI Adapter SoftAP Installer WINXP RaUI exeO - Extra context menu item E amp xport to Microsoft Excel - res C PROGRA MICROS Office EXCEL EXE O - Extra button no name - DFB A - F - C -A - CAB FD A - C PROGRA SPYBOT SDHelper dllO - Extra 'Tools' menuitem Spybot - Search amp Destroy Configuration - DFB A - F -... I have about 40 users all running windows 7 and all have a Windows update issue as well as the Windows 2008 R2 server. I have tried for 2 weeks now to fix this issue but keep hitting walls.  I noticed that we are no longer getting windows update notifications
like normal so I ran windows update manually and most have appx. 89 updates that needed to be installed.  Most if not all have errors when trying to install, including the server.  One of the common errors is 80244019.  I've ran the windows
update trouble shooter with no luck.  I also attempted to install a hotfix KB2775511 with no luck.  It errors out and will not install.
Does anyone know of any kind of hotfix to resolve this issue?  Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Hi My AVG program ran it usual scan today and it detected two Win Heur viruses I haven't noticed my computer running oddly and the program files for the virus made me quirk my eyebrow and wonder whether it was a false positive I've heard AVG has had problem with false by detection -- detected on laptop possible AVG Virus Win32/Heur false positives with Win Heur in the past and I don't want to remove anything important Anyway the program files in which the alleged Win Heur virus was detected are these C Program Files x Installshield Installation Information C AF- A F- D - - BA CD ISSetup dll C Program Files x Installshield Installation Information F FA -D E - - B -AEE D F ISSetup dll The reason I'm wondering whether it's a false positive is because from my understanding Installshield is an installation program that comes with Win32/Heur Virus detected on laptop -- possible false detection by AVG Windows computers so I'm confused as to whether this would be a usual location for a virus AVG won't remove it without me telling it as it's larger than mb I don't want to ignore it though if it's a serious problem Any guidance Much thanks

A:Windows XP Pro w sp1 errors, device drivers

If it were me I would reformat the HD and reinstall XP Pro. The only time I got a blue screen from XP was when I had a RAM issue. I got a new stick and everything has been fine since. The RAM I replaced tested out fine and did run XP for a about a year but the one day it just stopped working. I love XP Pro I have W2K at work and XP at home and I prefer XP. I would also check to make sure the software you installed it XP compatible.

A:windows 7 will not update video drivers or windows update.

FWIW:  I suggest that you NOT use Windows Update for hardware drivers.  If the system is a laptop or other OEM system, the manufacturer's website is the place to seek appropriate drivers for your system.  If system is sself-built or put together using individual components that you or someone else selected...then the motherboard manufacturer or component manufacturer (e.g., installed video card) is the website that should provide the appropriate drivers.

A:Windows Update INCLUDES Motherboard Drivers and BIOS Update on M2A-VM?

I have the same board on another pc.

You only need to download and install only that which would make your setup current.

You really only need to update the bios if you will be moving up to a newer processor that is not currently supported by the current bios or if the newer bios fixes a known problem.

You need the latest motherboard chipset driver. (I would install this first if you haven't already)

You need the latest LAN driver.

The audio driver you can either download from Asus or from RealTek.

I'm on my 4th re-install since 6/10/16. The reason being, when I closed there were 163 updates available, once it finished it would revert back and hang for 30 +. At which point I would be pretty much re-install. It has yet to show I have any updates,
so here I sit. Needles to say I can't install anything. That is the only way I would see any updates, windows update just runs until hour + later it stops saying I need to select a install method, which I've done, but do it again and repeat everything.

I wanted to install 10 but unable I assume for the same reason.

Thank you

Okay so this morning, turned on my PC, everything fine, then a Windows Update started by itself (Im on Windows 7) I said alright, whatever. Then my PC rebooted and this is where everything ****ed up.
First, there was NO letters, all of the letters were replaced by boxes, but I fixed this so moving on.
Second, I keep getting missing DLL files errors that will NOT let me do anything! I can't even open apps (except for chrome and luckily MBAM), even CCLeaner won't open up, and CMD too, and Avast. No matter how many times I tried.
Tried system restoring many times, but it just says "System Restore Failed because of an error" I can't even do sfc /scannow command. Im freaking out because I had this PC for 3 years and all my family albums, files and photos are on this PC and I don't want to do a disk wipe. PLease help me!!!

I have a Sony Vaio laptop PCG-71911M which is running Windows 7 Home Premium x64. The laptop has been left unattended for a few years and whilst working ok refuses point blank to install any Windows Updates (even though its states there are 78!!!).

I have tried the SURT which asks if I want to install Hotfix for Windows (KB947821) but if I click yes it won't install and the SFC /Scannow stops after 12% saying Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation.

Presumably one of more of the updates is faulty but as there are 78 I don't really know where to start???

A:Windows 7 update errors

Try Troubleshoot problems with installing updates - Windows Help.

Run SFC /SCANNOW Command to check for corruption of System files.

If corrupt files cannot be repaired consider a Repair Install.

However if this is still the factory install that is the worst install of Win7 one can have, larded with corrupting bloatware and duplicate utilities that interfere with better versions built into Win7. Most tech enthusiasts will never run a factory install and prefer to Clean Reinstall Windows 7 which compiles everything that works best for Win7 in tens of thousands of installs we've directly helped with here.

Until then you can also regain some performance following Clean Up Factory Bloatware

Hi,

um, guys i have a windows update problem, searching for updates take a very long time.So i started downloading windows update diagnostic, and i got the error
0x80070005

That error points to permissions problem...

Download Windows Repair (All-in-One) Portable (use the Direct Download button)
extract the tweaking.com_windows_repair_aio.zip to c:\Windows\TEMP the zip will extract to a folder called Tweaking.com - Windows Repair
execute the file Repair_Windows.exe from the Tweaking.com - Windows Repair folder
click on the tab Step 5: Backup and on the buttons:
Backup to create a Registry Backup
Create to create a System Restore Point

click on the tab Start Repairs, next click the Open Repairs button to access the following screen:
click the box All Repairs to uncheck all the box's
check only the following box's:
01 - Reset Registry Permissions
02 - Reset File Permissions
02.1 - File Permissions C:\
03 - Reset Service Permissions
26 - Restore Important Windows Services
27 - Set Windows Services to Default Startup

check the box Restart/Shutdown System When Finished > Restart System
click the Start Repairs button

After this is better to change the Windows Update configuration to Never Check for Updates, Restart the computer.

Visit http://wu.krelay.de/en/ and install all the updates listed on the first block and then the Windows Update Client from March 2016

Notes:
- You will get an error if any of those updates is already installed, simply ignore that and move to the next one
- after installing each update is normal to get a prompt to restart, decline that until you install the last one, the Windows Update Client update.

I wanted to download and install the Windows Essentials 2012 so that I can get the movie maker on my Windows 8 desktop. Unfortunately, It doesn't install...I get an error 0x80070643. I looked this up and it states that it should fix it if I enable Windows Firewall. I had to uninstall Norton 360, so I could enable the firewall, and it still didn't work.
Then I went to install windows updates as someone suggested may help, and it states there are two updates which cannot be installed. Then I try to restart the computer, it says configuring windows updates 35% complete Do not turn off computer. It restarts twice by itself (with the same "35%" message, and finally states that Failure configuring windows updates, reverting changes do not turn off computer.
Does anyone know what's going on here?
Thanks,

Try this.

Click on the Start orb, type cmd in the Search programs and files box.

Another window will open with cmd being shown under Programs, right click on it and then choose Run as administrator.

This will open the Elevated Command Prompt, it will look similar to the image below.

In the command prompt type in wuauserv /REGSERVER, then press Enter.

2976629 ? IE11 update
they install then say restart to install updates, installs them, reverts them so don?t install

2977728 ? doesn?t complete & fails with error 80070643
Ive tried the automatic troubleshooter from this webpage - Windows Update error 80070643
And that fixed 3 things but not 2 others ? see pic
I have ran
The system update readiness tool
scandisk
sfc/scannow ? no errors
The system update readiness tool again

As an aside everytime it starts up it says ?you have files waiting to burned to disc? even though I don?t, and when I move the mouse over the balloon to click on it it disappears completely and doesn?t reappear until another reboot

You may have to search for the windows update catalog files; delete them; then try running windows update again. it sounds like something may be corrupt with windows update which could be the reason behind the errors you are getting.

Not a bug.The failed one was a newer version that had to replace the older one.Kindly see manufacturer's website to download the newer driver in case if windows update fails.

On the first error, 8004100A, it occurs with some regularity. Try using WMIdiag (a
tool downloaded from Microsofts download centre) and clearing a number of
errors that it raises. Eventually the Repository should reappear and all should be fine.

On the second one, 80070002, try turning the windows firewall off and
the update should immediately downloaded and install.

Hope this helps.

I noticed this morning that windows updater had failed after trying to install updates last night (after looking at the update history it has been failing to install updates for months but I never noticed), I have run the system updates readyness tool and the sfc scan both of them showed no problems. The errors that the updater is showing aren't recognised by the troubleshooting tool so I thought I would ask here for help

Hi

Windows Update downloaded but failed to install updates, stating errors-

KB978601; KB979683; KB980232 (error code 80070643)
KB979309; KB981332 (error code 80071A91)

System Restore in Safe Mode also failed (error code 80071A91).

Any suggestions on how to resolve this?

A:Windows Update errors

For the first error code:

&
http://social.answers.microsoft.com/...a-774e2e31dbea

For the second:
This is untested, but apparently a possible solution to your second problem (Error Code 80071A91). I suggest you read the following thread before using it.
SteveX Compiled Blog Archive 80071a91

Quote:
First:
1. Bring up an elevated command prompt
2. Execute the following commands sequentially:

a. fsutil resource setautoreset true c:\

b. cd /d %windir%\system32\config\txr

c. attrib -r -s -h *

d. del *

Second:
1. Bring up an elevated command prompt
2. Execute the following commands sequentially:

a. cd %windir%\System32\SMI\Store\Machine

b. attrib –a –h –s *.TM*

c. del *.TM*

NOW REBOOT! After reboot updates should install.

   Tip
An elevated command prompt/cmd.exe involves starting a command prompt as an administrator. This can be done by going through Start > Search for "cmd" > Right Click cmd.exe and Run as Administrator.

Hey,

I was having some issues with my RAM which caused a bunch of problems with error messages. So I replaced the RAM, and the error messages went away except for when installing updates. Some of the updates failed to install, Video card drivers and media center updates. Any ideas?

A:Windows Update Errors

Hi there this is aproblem that microsoft are aware of.Make a note of the updates that wont install and go to the the microsoft site for the answer.I think mine was kb913446,i contacted microsoft support and they helped me resolve the issue. One of the suggestions was to make sure your antivirus is turned off while accessing microsoft updates, another suggestion was to rename a windows\sofware distribution folder through the cmd line, this was the solution for me.I have it written down and could give you the details but I think its specific to the problem. As far as I know Windows update still has free support.

I have successfully upgraded to Windows 10 Pro from Windows 8.1 Pro. It seems to be working just fine. However, when I run

sfc /scannow

It indicates there are corrupt files that cannot be fixed. Subsequently, I ran

Dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

that also had corruption errors that could not be fixed. The output from

Dism /online /cleanup-image /checkhealth

indicated the files are repairable. I tried to attach the logs, but I get the message "invalid file", and the logs are not attached. What can I do now?

Thank you

A:SFC errors after Windows 10 Pro update

Download and run SFCFix.exe. After that is done, run SFC /scannow again.
If needed, run Dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth again.
no matter what the results, run SFC /scannow again after that.

Hi: When things like that happen to me, I try installing them in batches of 1-10 at a time to figure out which ones are failing. If that still doesn't work, I google the kb#, and manually download and try to install each of the failed updates from the Microsoft Download Center. Those would be the only suggestions I can offer since you have already tried the Winodws Update troubleshooting steps.

Not a bug.The failed one was a newer version that had to replace the older one.Kindly see manufacturer's website to download the newer driver in case if windows update fails.

You said update. Do you mean Win 7 to Win 10 Upgrade? If so "what" told you to delete files and/or do you mean you are doing a clean boot? You need to let us know exactly what error messages you are getting because there are many and each requires a different action.Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanksmessage edited by Derek

I've been getting very frequent BSOD or blue screen errors for the past few days now. Safe mode works fine to try to research the problem and resolving it. I believe it may be this fake bsodohci file in my windows/drivers/cache folder and causing it to run commands when it's not supposed to. Malwarebytes is not picking this up and I can barely get into Windows normally before getting the BSOD. I also cannot delete this file. The Avenger is not picking this up either or any other anti virus program. I've downloaded and updated my drivers, cleaned the computer of dust. The temperatures run between 111 and 114 degrees F and shuts down at 174 degrees F.

I've written down the codes from the blue screen.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello, I'm new on this forum.

I ran Windows Update Troubleshooter on my mom's laptop. It found 2 problems and said they are fixed. But everytime i run the troubleshooter, those 2 problems are found and fixed. So those fixes does not seem to be permanent, and are only "fixed" when running the troubleshooter. Is this kind of behavier normal? Update seems to work fine though, except being somewhat slow checking updates.

The laptop had some general performance problems and troubleshooting WU was part of troubleshooting them.

Also, is Microsoft Fixit (WindowsUpdateDiagnostic.diagcab) similar to Windows build-in WU Troubleshooter or can it do better job fixing problems?

So as of last night I went and did the free 8.1 update on my system,

I have
HP ENVY 15 Notebook PCAMD A10-5750M APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics, 2500 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)
w/ AMD Radeon HD 8600/8700M

anyways the update didn't correctly install my Biometrics fingerprint scanner, and the options of my AMD Catalist thing has no options, I cant choose how programs run (performance or power) can't choose my display size / doesn't have correct resolution, and a few others.

anyone have a fix? i checked AMD for lastest drivers (uninstalled and installed accordingly) with no solution to my issue.

did i make the right choice?

thanks;

There's only one relatively minor error in your CheckSUR log -

You have a very high number of POQs in the log - which may be the result of corruptions elsewhere.

I'll post a fix for the CheckSUR errors later, and we'll see what happens then.

A couple of problems I am running IE and when Update/script Windows Errors... I go to the MSoft update page I either get a blank white page with no message at all or I get the update page and when I hit quot express quot or quot Windows Update/script Errors... custom quot it acts like it is scanning my system but never stops Before posting this I opened IE and clicked on quot help quot then quot about IE quot and as soon as I do this i get a blinking message that says something about Internet script errors The only thing I can do to close the page is ctl alt del it Firefox is running fine as usual but IE is running pretty slow Last night I did a full virus scan spybot ad-aware and defrag and I think this most of this started after I did all of those Although I have noticed on a few occasions in the last couple of weeks that a different script error message pops up from time to time with IE Thats why I was trying to get to their update page to begin with Thanks

A:Windows Update/script Errors...

Go to Tools/ Internet Options/ Advanced/ Check the box to Disable script debugging.Uncheck the box to Display a notification about every script error.Sometimes there's a corrupt file in the cache and you must go to Tools/ Internet Options and click Delete Files. You can try re-registering all DLLs listed in This Micro$oft Article. Also have a look this article; Error Message When You Browse the Web: An Error Has Occurred in the Script on This Page.

I am struggling with my PC where it will not install updates

I am using Vista Home Premium with SP1

When installing updates it seems to be working for maybe an hour or more then the update fails.

The codes I have so far are 8007000B of which I have tried the command prompt fix listed on the micrsoft site though to no avail.

I have also seen 80073712 and 800706E, 800B0100

I have scanned with malwarebytes and it comes up as clean.

Any help would be appreciated.

On a Dell Dimension 4600 (XP Pro SP2) machine, I did a system repair install. Next step was to check for updates - there were about 80. No surprise there. Oddly, all of them failed. Looking in the %windir%\Windowsupdate.log, I see many lines with the following error description: "Update {long alphanumeric sequence}.100 is pruned out due to potential supersedence. Updates worked before the repair install. The repair install disk was XPSP2.I couldn't find much on the net about this one. I did find something about re-registering some critical dll's, here:http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsg...ef93af2&p=1I will try it tomorrow. Apart from that, has anyone experience with this? Perhaps I need an older WUpdate executable?Any advice appreciated!

A:Windows Update Errors - Supersedence?

Confirmed I have the latest updater, v7.0.6000.374A.Trawled the net extensively, found this link which basically contains all of the information to be found on the net on the subject, in one place.http://www.amset.info/windows/auto-updates...tomatic-updatesEssentially, it:- deletes the software distribution folder- reregisters a bunch of windows updates, javascript and xml dlls- deleted windows update logB. Since the windows firewall options are greyed out, it is stubbornly staying on. tried to reset security policies with no luck. so, I'm going into the registry key to try to disable it manually:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\WindowsFirewall\StandardProfile in the EnabledFirewall key, changing the value to 0 (from 1).C.Download iuctl.cab, from here:http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/cab/...icode/iuctl.cabExtract the cab and install the iuctl.inf file.D.Run system file checker. ( sfc \scannow ) This is towards the end of my list, because I didn't run into this problem until I did a repair install. Presumably no files will have changed since then.E. (LAST RESORT) Install Dial-A-Fix, http://wiki.djlizard.net/Dial-A-Fix (I am very wary of downloading this one, because I'm not exactly sure how it works, and therefore not sure how to undo any changes it will have made).F. (LAST LAST RESORT)Flatline and reformat. Will try it soon, in the next couple of days or so. Any feedback or ideas are really, really appreciated.

We purchased this PC in Trying Errors Run To Receiving Update Dns Windows It is a Dell DXP running Windows Professional SP Up until this week-end we were running McAfee Security Center and Virus-Scan I had the PC set up for automatic Windows Updates as well as automatic McAfee signature file updates We use Receiving Dns Errors Trying To Run Windows Update Comcast High Speed Internet and have a Motorola SB surf-board modem In the Receiving Dns Errors Trying To Run Windows Update spring of we added a Netgear WGR v router Our son uses his Toshiba laptop and I use a Dell laptop via wireless Receiving Dns Errors Trying To Run Windows Update connection through the router This PC is used by my husband for eMail PalTalk chat room surfing the web and eBay auctions Friday August th actually early Saturday August th around AM EST my husband woke me up to ask me to look at a message on the screen The message basically was warning him about shutting down the PC that others were using the connection Neither laptop was logged on and I have never seen this message before I looked in the Start tray to the lower-right hand corner and saw a warning icon that said that our internet was not protected When I launched the McAfee Security Center I saw that the signature files were out of date it stated that an update had not been performed in to days Based on the list of program updates in that I accessed from the Control Panel Add or Remove programs - it looks like the last good download update was on I rebooted the PC and tried to run the McAfee updates This resulted in a Server not found DNS error I then tried to run Windows Update from the START menu This resulted in the Error x EE screen At this point I gave up and went back to sleep On Saturday afternoon August th I started working on the computer We had previously installed IE but I uninstalled it since I am not as comfortable with it more familiar with IE I had actually hoped that uninstalling IE would reset whatever had been become corrupt no such luck I searched the internet and checked some tech blogs for similar reports and tried some of the suggestions i e adding links to Trusted sites Enabling ActiveX etc Each time I tried Windows Update and received the same error message Since I was unable to update McAfee Security Center I uninstalled it and then re-downloaded it from McAfee s site The download worked but the install had errors and only a portion Security Center with no Virus Scan options of the application was installed Updates would not work so I uninstalled it again I had previously used Ad-Aware on another computer to find Spyware so I downloaded Ad-Aware from the internet The download ran fine but the update link in the application to get the most recent signature files resulted in a Server not found DNS error I then uninstalled Ad-Aware Then I read about CCleaner at C Net com I downloaded this application It automatically updated the signature files as part of the install I ran this and it cleaned up a number of cookies data miners and trackers Since I wasn t comfortable not having McAfee on the PC I tried to download Windows Defender from the Microsoft site This resulted in a Server not found DNS error As a result I went back to C Net and downloaded AVG Anti-Virus Free I submitted a request for assistance through the Windows Technical Support but none of the quot fixes quot that they suggested seem to work My gut feeling is that there is a virus somewhere in the PC blocking updates from specific sites such as Microsoft or McAfee One of the suggestions from the Windows Tech was to download Fixwareout exe or Combofix I have downloaded those strange that I can download from Bleeping computer com but not from Microsoft or McAfee and run them but still have the problem Has anyone encountered this problem before

A:Receiving Dns Errors Trying To Run Windows Update

Hello K Eddings,

While this could be a malware problem it could be something else. I had a similar problem around the same time, can you check the settings in the router? If so can you locate the MTU size. What is the value for this field?

Almost every time I've done a Windows Update check I get an error - either the windows servers aren't in the firewall exclusions or the time isn't syncronised between my PC and the update servers. Or something equally unintelligible!

Anybody had similar or other results?

Sorry guys but again! Errors Install Windows Update I feel I need to bump this issue as its now beginning to cause serious concerns Last night WinUpdate informs me that updates are available I downloaded Windows Update Install Errors again! them hit install quelle surprise or so wont install and return an error screenshots below I've tried manaul install on each but still no success I downloaded amp ran the 'reset amp re-register Windows Update components' amp the 'reset update history' tools thanks to Win Forums I then reinstalled the updates but again some failed Of further concern is that one of the updates that did install caused my APC Powerchute s ware to fail Net result I've carried out two system restores and thankfully my APC software is working again but Windows Updates is still telling me that these updates are available This issue has been ongoing since about March where or so updates would not install but now its failures and I'm becoming concerned that it may be my OS I'm about to begin writing my Masters Thesis but I'm really concerned that this error is a symptom of a growing instability with my OS I've trawled through the Win forum reading a number of threads that highlight a similar problem with Auto Update but none appear to have a fix amp manual installation is not working for me I'd be grateful for any suggestions or even a pointer on how to get direct to an online MS support site from Ireland beleive me I've looked I've placed the screenshots of the errors below Thanks Mike

2. Install system readiness tool and run it
What is system readiness tool ?
System resources, such as file data, registry data, and even in-memory data, can develop inconsistencies during the lifetime of the operating system. These inconsistencies might be caused by various hardware failures or might be caused by software issues. In some cases, these inconsistencies can affect the Windows servicing store, and they can cause software updates not to work. The System Update Readiness Tool tries to resolve these inconsistencies.

A:Windows update multiple errors

Hi there,

Did this all of a sudden happened? When was the last time you were able to run windows updates on your computer?

Have you recently installed software on your computer?

Try performing a windows updates reset and see if this process helps: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/971058

Hope everything works out well.
