I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Well...I see that you have NIS installed...what version? Is it current with updates? What does it reflect when you scan?I have the 2006 version installed and it seems to do a good all-around job of protecting the system.Next question: How did you get all this malware (you referred to), with NIS installed? Was NIS installed after the fact?Do you use the Messenger program? If not, I would recommend uninstalling/disabling same.I use 3 programs to deal with malware that is not viruses, trojans, worms: Microsoft Antispyware, Ad-Aware SE, and Spybot S&D. My suggestion would be to download and install the latest versions of each and keep them updated/active on your system. The combination, along with NIS, should take care of any adware/spyware that might find its way to your system.STMCTRL.DLL is needed, according to this link: http://64.233.161.104/search?q=cache:yAbbc...L.DLL+%3F&hl=en. If you have ADSL and its working fine, I would just ignore this.See http://www.liutilities.com/products/wintas...brary/hpcmpmgr/ for comments on the other file you listed.I would also suggest removing any Real programs from your system, if you don't really need them.Louis

Do you have an HP Printer (or Printer/Copier/Scanner/Fax) ?Did AVG quarantine the infected files? Please see this post, reply by Moderator boopme, dated Feb 9 2010, 02:36 PM for how to run an ESET scan:(Includes link to ESET)http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/293472/hazikubudll-rundll32exe/I am copying/pasting instructions provided by boopme and quietman7 (Moderators on this site): If you have Spybot installed temporarily disable it.Next run ATF:Note: On Vista, "Windows Temp" is disabled. To empty "Windows Temp" ATF-Cleaner must be "Run as an Administrator".Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune & save it to your desktop.Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.Under Main "Select Files to Delete" choose: Select All.Click the Empty Selected button. If you use Firefox browser click Firefox at the top and choose: Select AllClick the Empty Selected button.
If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt. If you use Opera browser click Opera at the top and choose: Select AllClick the Empty Selected button.
If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.Next run MBAM (MalwareBytes):NOTE: Before saving MBAM please rename it to zztoy.exe....now save it to your desktop. Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.alternate download link MBAM may "make changes to your registry" as part of its disinfection routine. If using other security programs that detect registry changes (ie Spybot's Teatimer), they may interfere or alert you. Temporarily disable such programs or permit them to allow the changes.Make sure you are connected to the Internet.Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application. When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings. When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:Update Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareLaunch Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareThen click Finish.MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan.If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue. If you encounter any problems while downloading the definition updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install. On the Scanner tab:Make sure the "Perform Quick Scan" option is selected. Then click on the Scan button. If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button. The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient. When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.Back at the main Scanner screen:Click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad. The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply. Be sure to post the complete log to include the top portion which shows MBAM's database version and your operating system.Exit MBAM when done.Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be asked to reboot your computer so MBAM can proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. I have this strange - and annoying - problem at times that I can't exactly pinpoint what's stopping it from working properly nor can I find any pattern to when this might happen again My responding') a Windows nothing of 'state' loading 'not into goes (not computer has this what I have started calling it a quot mood Windows goes into a 'state' of nothing loading (not 'not responding') quot where it seems to 'forget' or 'doesn't care' to carry out the commands I give my computer It's different to my PC quot not responding quot because everything still seems to Windows goes into a 'state' of nothing loading (not 'not responding') be working in that respect no graying out of the screen no mouse busy pointer no high CPU or memory usage It's just not loading things An example then When my computer's in this 'mood' I click on my Firefox logo and wait Nothing happens I click ctrl shift Esc and it's there in the background - usually around kb - but it doesn't Windows goes into a 'state' of nothing loading (not 'not responding') load it up fully ever but I think with Chrome it loads it up but the screen's just blank and doesn't load anything else up I think the same goes for any program I try to load when it's in this 'mood' If I've got Firefox open already and I click a new tab link bookmark it 'pretends' it's working but nothing happens I don't remember if it even does a timeout after a while the internet's on and working fine so that's not the problem The only way I can solve it is just restart my computer Does anyone have any idea what's going on here

A:Windows goes into a 'state' of nothing loading (not 'not responding')

Look in event viewer.

Event Viewer - Open and Use in Windows 7

Look under windows logs-system

Scroll down and look for errors related to disk. Under source it will say disk. See anything like that? You will have to scroll for a long time. You do not need to look through the whole thing, just a weeks worth or so.

You might also want to perform a disk check.

Disk Check

Go from step 4 to 8. Then continue through the tutorial.

Microsoft Edge: Tab says it's not responding while loading certain Websites

Whenever I look up different things on certain websites, the tab in my Edge browser says it's not responding while loading the page.

This site (Windows 10 Forums) loads fine. But websites such as Google sites for example stops responding while loading. After it gets through loading, it finally responds.

P.S I hate to keep posting threads so much.

Thanks in advance!

recently I have noticed that my MS Outlook has been loading very slowly, upon loading, if I try to compose an email it stops responding and once it does respond sometimes lags or freezes and then eventually works.  I"m not sure why?  Earlier this year I discovered that my son accidentally downloaded a 'crack' tool which I caught quickly and was able to remove and make sure my system is clean.  It was after this that I noticed the lagging.  However, around the same time I started working from home and added a MS Exchange email account to my outlook  - I'm not sure if this is affecting it .  Thank you for your help!

A:Internet Explorer Slow, not loading pages, not responding

Hi

How other browsers work ?. My personal choice is chrome and it works fine for me.Your IE version is 7 and it is fairly outdated. Latest is IE10 but Microsoft didn't even released IE 9 for XP. Sticking with an outdated browser is a security risk. Also a large number of websites require at least IE 8 or higher. I strongly recommend consider using an alternative browser or at least upgrade the Internet explorer version to 8.

Hi I started running into this issue a week ago where I was just browsing the web and suddenly web pages were failing to load but were working fine on my laptop I went to click the task bar and the little loading icon came up on my mouse after a minute it loading hanging circle. boot responding, not Windows at proceeded to tell me Windows had stopped responding and I could close it or wait On clicking that dialogue box the loading icon appeared again and the box didn't disappear leading to that crashing too I decided to turn the computer off by holding the button On restart the computer hung on the boot circle for ages I proceeded in turning it off and on till it reached the startup repair screen I tried to repair windows but there was nothing wrong with it I eventually got it to boot after waiting minutes All worked Windows not responding, hanging at boot loading circle. fine until I ran into the same problem of the taskbar windows crashing and not responding I decided to perform a Windows not responding, hanging at boot loading circle. system restore to before the problems started happening at startup repair thinking a dodgy windows update had happened This did not solve anything On repeated attempts at finally loading into windows I've had several scenarios occurring windows cannot seem to find a network adaptor sometimes When this occurs I have gone to restart the computer where again it just hangs On one crash it proceeded to a blue screen of death DRIVER POWER STATE FAILURE I could not figure out what was up as no icons under drivers appear to have any exclamation icons by them This problem is getting worse and worse now I am lucky to boot into the os and within a few minutes it's crashing where as before it could be Windows not responding, hanging at boot loading circle. okay for mins or an hour It is practically unusable and I'm not sure what's wrong I have ran an sfc scannow which showed no faults with the operating system I have downloaded and ran software to check the state of my ssd and other hard drives My ssd has tb of writes and is at health My other hard drives are without fail I ran windows mem test which showed no faults on screen but failed to boot into os to display me the final results My computer I built myself consists of Crucial MX gb SSD OS Drive WD tb HDD Seagate gb HDD I - CPU GB of HyperX beast RAM ASrock z pro motherboard Corsair CX M PSU MSI R x Running Windows bit I'm not sure where to go from here I'm starting to feel like it's some hardware at fault here as a the problem is getting progressivly worse random hangings c Scanning the os displays nothing wrong system restoring hasn't altered the problem Ran this computer for years and have never ran into an issue with it till now Could someone give me some advice as to what to do next or what might be wrong Thanks Sean EDIT I've been trying to run the sysnative BSOD dump exe in your sticky but running it from desktop it gets about half way and then spams waiting for tasks to complete while getting nowhere and doesn't leave any traces of files I cannot access My Doccuments anymore as they are stored on my D drive which file exploring seems to not be able to locate anymore D drive can be seen in Device Manager but not under Disk management I used it to link my library files as to not take space on my ssd I've rebooted times and still can't access D Drive anymore Computer is taking at least seconds to post now

Here's the manual version of the reports that I need.  I hope that you are able to gather them up.Upload Dump Files:NOTE:  If using a disk cleaning utility, please stop using it while we are troubleshooting your issues. Please go to C:\Windows\Minidump and zip up the contents of the folder.  Then upload/attach the .zip file with your next post.Left click on the first minidump file.Hold down the "Shift" key and left click on the last minidump file.Right click on the blue highlighted area and select "Send to"Select "Compressed (zipped) folder" and note where the folder is saved.Upload that .zip file with your next post.If you have issues with "Access Denied" errors, try copying the files to your desktop and zipping them up from there.  If it still won't let you zip them up, post back for further advice. If you don't have anything in that folder, please check in C:\Windows for a file named MEMORY.DMP.  If you find it, zip it up and upload it to a free file hosting service.  Then post the link to it in your topic so that we can download it.Also, search your entire hard drive for files ending in .dmp, .mdmp, and .hdmp.  Zip up any that you find and upload them with your next post. Then, follow the directions here to set your system for Minidumps (much smaller than the MEMORY.DMP file):  http://www.carrona.org/setmini.htmlMore info on dump file options here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/254649MSINFO32:Please go to Start and type in "msinfo32.exe" (without the quotes) and press EnterSave the report as an .nfo file, then zip up the .nfo file and upload/attach the .zip file with your next post. Also, save a copy as a .txt file and include it also (it's much more difficult to read, but we have greater success in getting the info from it).If you're having difficulties with the format, please open an elevated (Run as administrator) Command Prompt and type (or copy/paste) "msinfo32 /nfo %USERPROFILE%\Desktop\TEST.NFO" (without the quotes) and press Enter.  Then navigate to Desktop to retrieve the TEST.NFO file.  If you have difficulties with making this work, please post back.  Then zip up the .nfo file and upload/attach the .zip file with your next post.systeminfo:Please open an elevated (Run as administrator) Command Prompt and type (or copy/paste) "systeminfo.exe >%USERPROFILE%\Desktop\systeminfo.txt" (without the quotes) and press Enter.  Then navigate to Desktop to retrieve the syteminfo.txt file.  If you have difficulties with making this work, please post back.  Then zip up the .txt file and upload/attach the .zip file with your next post. Beyond this, please start with these free, hardware diagnostics:  http://www.carrona.org/hwdiag.htmlIf they all pass, try removing a couple of the hard drives and other non-essential devices (like fans, CD/DVD drive, etc), then see how it runs. This is in case the PSU is losing power (they degrade with age).  If it is this, then the system may work better for a while (but it depends on how fast things are dying).

Help I need assistance solving this problem.

When installing Windows 2000 setup copies the initial files to the hard drive and then restarts to begin the 1st stage of setup.

The system begins the startup process by "Loading the Windows Executive" At this point setup stalls and gives the following message:
"Setup cannot load ntkrnlmp.exe the error code is 16"
This error is duplicated in different releases in win2k from the beta 3 to the final releases.

Please assist, respond to [email protected] or ICQ 1937432

I have an error message: An error occurred while loading a file. AOL will attempt to restore the file. My emails, however, are affected. I have email icons without subjects. The emails do open but I cannot know what they are or who sent them prior to opening and I cannot download attachments, answer or forward the messages. This is a potential disaster if I cannot fix this quickly.

Any help appreciated.

You should probably start off with the simple method of booting to the recovery console (see the above for instructions to enter the recovery console) and running the commands fixboot and fixmbr.

I am having three major issues and somehow I think they are all related Please help A few days ago I started receiving at startup the following error quot Data Execution Prevention - To help protect your computer windows as closed this program Name Windows Explorer Publisher Microsoft Corp quot I had gone to MyComputer properties and put windows explorer in the exception list And it loaded up ok after that This morning it started giving the same error plus another one quot DrWatson Postmortem Debugger has encountered a poblem quot and has closed In addition to the above I can t click or start anything The screen looks like it s loaded up correctly but then I am not able to start or use any program The only option I can choose is to see the task manager And being not computer savvy am unable to pinpoint anything abnormal Now the screensaver has come on and moving the mouse doesn t take it back to the normal screen I really am not now DEP XP error problem Windows Drwatson.exe Solved: and error loading and sure what the problem is I am writing this post from another PC Please help as to what I should do Thank you nbsp

A:Solved: Windows XP DEP error and now Drwatson.exe error and loading problem

You actually may have picked up a virus and Windows is preventing the running of explorer in order to prevent it from carrying out its intended task(s). It might also just be a bug that developed on its own. I don't want to tell you to disable DEP in this case since you don't seem to be initiating any thing of your own that might trigger DEP falsely.

I would see if you can start in safe mode (tap F5 key continuously as the system is starting--or the F8 key can get you there too) and then run System Restore and see if you can go back to a restore point one or two periods before the trouble began.

If that's successful then at the next bootup type mrt and OK that in the Run... window (Windows Key + R). You should get the Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool start module to come up from that and it might say you can download the latest updates at such and such before running it. If you have the latest update, just ok it to run and have it do a deep scan of your system.

Hopefully if it was just some registry corruption, the system restore will have fixed that and if its something more malevalent the MRT tool will find and remove it.

Dell Dimension 8250 running Windows XP.
Here are the details when starting my computer;
1. Start up
2. Select user
3. While my personal settings are loading I get the following error message: Error loading c:\windows\system32\kfyxjtam.dll Access denied
4. Open up Windows Explorer and my home web site loads, but then I notice many other sites attempting to load, this prevents me from going to any other web sites. This continues indefinitely (I think my computers anti-virus keeps it from successfully loading). An example of what attempts to load is ADS.Trasapretty.com
5. I give up and close down my computer.

I am sending this message from work because I cannot access your web site from the problem computer at home, so what ever you suggest will have to be transferred from work to home. Thank you in advance for your help and for your patience.

Hey Guys
I have encountered terribly slow performance while accessing files from my network. I am operating Windows Vista with 4 computers attached to the network. The computer is fast and has no problems operating within itself, but as soon as anything is accessed on the network, 95% of the time it times out and i get a "not responding" error. None of the other computers have performance issues or "not responding" errors. I have even gone from using a D-Link USB Network adaptor to now using a LINKSYS USB. No change in performance.
What should I be looking for?
Thanks in advance

everytime i shut down or restart our computer a "not responding error" msgbox "not responding error" that says some programs may still be running appears it has a progressbar in it and an quot End now quot button when i click quot end now quot another msgbox with same message appears so i clicked quot end now quot again and that allows it to shut down or restart the computer but i m so sure that i have closed all programs properly but still that msgbox appears and by the way if i don t click the quot end now quot button and just wait for the progressbar to reach it s maximum a quot not responding error quot occurs in other words i rather click quot end now quot button twice i don t know what s wrong pls help i have this feeling that it s because i used "not responding error" to just either click the quot power quot button in the keyboard "not responding error" or longpress the power button on the cpu but that was months ago i have stopped doing that when i began encountering that problem

A:"not responding error"

These "not responding" problems are usually related to windows trying to end a program that was running.

I would do this:
-Start - Run - type "msconfig" - hit Enter.
-Click the Startup tab, and uncheck all unnecessary programs from starting at bootup (usually safe to uncheck EVERYTHING except antivirus and firewall programs).-
- Apply, Close, Reboot (you need to do a reboot before changes will occur).

After the reboot, try restarting again and see if you get these "not responding" messages.

Please check the date on your system - it appears to have 27 Feb 2010 as the date.

If so, please change the the date to the correct one - that'll solve most issues.

Also, please uninstall HotBackup or Paragon System Utilities by Paragon Software Group.
It has caused BSOD's on your system.

Good day and thank you for reviewing this post I was installing a new HP computer with Vista Home Premium today It was Not Responding Program IE7 Error going very well IE was working even did some downloads I then installed a Canon F scanner which installed fine with the accompanying disk Then I went to install the Canon software and here is where I think I caused my own problem it told me there might be problems so I installed it anyway expecting that if there were issues the install would not have completed well it completed and I even ran the Canoscan software and did some scans So far so good I thought But then IE would not even turn on when I clicked the blue E it IMMEDIATELY went to a small IE7 Program Not Responding Error Program not Woroking window and then said that it would contact me if a solution was found Uh-oh So I immediately went in an uninstalled each of the Canon programs including the driver itself No change Then i went to do a system restore to a point before the Canon install it seemed to restore fine until it rebooted and then it told me there was an error and it could not restore Great restore is so I can recover FROM errors LOL I tried system restore again just in case I did something wrong and it gave me the same error SO I installed Mozilla and downloaded the Vista driver for IE7 Program Not Responding Error the scanner and the Vista-ready software and installed them Scanner works fine Now here is where it gets weird I did some research on IE and Vista IE7 Program Not Responding Error and was directed to the RESTORE option in EI properties I did the restore and voila I got IE to come up that screen with the quot Save System Properties quot that IE gives you when it is new came up and then it switched immediately to the default home page of HP-AOL I tried hitting the back arrow and it would give me that screen again but before i could even hit a button it jumped to the HP-AOL home page Problem solved right Not even While this window was up and I was surfing I hit the blue E again you guessed it it went directly to the error screen for IE saying there was a problem while I am looking right at another IE window in front of me I closed the window I had up and hit the blue e Error again I went to IE properties and hit Restore and again I get a crisp IE window With the aforementioned quot save quot screen followed by the HP-AOL screen Hit blue e or close that window and I get the program error again I repeated this process times just to make sure this was a solid symptom I could even use tabs while I had the IE window open I just could not open a new one or another one I have given you all the symptoms and when the error occured PLEASE help point me in the right direction I will not see this machine again until Friday afternoon so I am limited in whatever tests I can try until then Thank you so very much for your time and expertise Don in Tucson AizA nbsp

While a lot of the time my wireless internet works well, it on occasion drops out and only shows a connection to the Local Area Network. This happens randomly. When I run the Windows Network Adapter troubleshooting tool it informs me that it can't find the source of the error, while Internet connection troubleshooting tool tells me that the DNS server is not responding. Usually after a period of time, anywhere from two minutes to three hours, it comes back on. So while its working fine often, I'd rather it not happen in the first place. Can anyone here help me with a solution?

My network adapter is a TP-Link TL-WN951N. The router is a TP-Link TD-VG3631.

I have attached the results of ipconfig /all and a Xirrus connection test when the internet has not been working.

Cheers!

A:I need help with a DNS server not responding error

Hello and welcome Dexter look I am no expert and run TP-Link stuff myself I have found on the odd occasion just powering off the modem/router for 20-30 seconds then rebooting the thing has a "calming" effect on it.
I assume you have checked all the drivers etc etc I like to get the manufacturers ones as I don't really rely on the Windows updating feature.
and if you haven't done these yet try them

Well I just did a factory restor on my computer because I couldnt get it to start up. Well afterwards it seemed like it was running just fine, until the next day I turn it on and the entire computer isnt responging (I could still move the mouse though). Well this would stay that way for about 30 seconds and then it would respond and I could click on stuff for about 5 seconds and it would go back to not responding. It seems like it does this until its been on for about 15 minutes (when it warms up it runs properly). I dont know what the problem is and I cant find anything online. Help would be much appreciated, thank you.

A:Windows 7 responding error

Hello scott32590, Welcome to SF

Please fill in your system specs so we know what we are dealing with System Info - See Your System Specs

I would consider some hardware tests to verify RAM, HDD etc
Disk Check
RAM - Test with Memtest86+
Hardware - Stress Test With Prime95

If you have just done a restore i would also consider a clean re-install without all the factory bloatware for a superior system
Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7
Clean Install Windows 7

I recently had a problem after doing an uninstall and an install and didn't reboot inbetween. I don't know precisely when it happened. I uninstalled F-Secure Internet Security 2004 and installed Kerio Personal Firewall. Rebooted the machine and everything just seemed to feel a little lagged. The next time I went to shut down I got an error of rundll32.exe not responding. I ended the task and it continued shutting down as normal. Anytime I logoff/restart/shut down I get this error of rundll32.exe not responding. My system alo seems a little slower than normal but maybe I'm imagining things.

I ran sfc /scannow and it did absolutely nothing. It seemed to scan but gave me no errors or anything else.

Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

Running Windows XP Pro on an ASUS P4C800-E mobo, 3ghz p4, 1gb ddr400 and ATI 9800 Pro video card if it matters.

A:(Not Responding) error message

Does this have anything to do with networking? How about enough details about exactly what you're doing and what exact version and patch level of Windows you run?

I was up on the internet in my OWA, I had just gotten my CAC reader to work so I could access my email from home, when my computer got an update push and restarted. Once it rebooted I no longer had internet access and keep getting the DNS error message.

I have tried setting the "preferred DNS & alternate DNS" addys and I will show an internet connection for about 30 seconds and then it changes back to no internet.
I have tried turning off my Win Firewall and my Virus Barrier X6 software/firewall to no change.

I have been on a Mac for about 2 yrs now and am trying to get the hang of Win 7 so I'm not great at the DOS Cmd like code for looking at everything. I have tried a few of the suggestions but nothing has worked and I don't know enough anymore to identify a problem when doing ipconfig /all etc.

I have an Airport Extreme router that works fine with my macbook & my husbands Macbook as well, both wireless and ethernet. I however cannot say the same for the Windows partition and I don't remember enough to know where to look to trouble shoot any router issues etc.

This issue basically nullifies the purchase of Parallels and Win 7 since I now can't get on the internet.

I would GREATLY appreciate any help I just need it to be explained a little more in depth. If commo by email would be better I'm OK with that, I just really need some help and all the forums don't make it seem like my ISP or MS give a crap.
THANKS for any guidance/troubleshooting anyone can help me with!

Please give us info about your network setup, ISP, etc.

Please also run IPCONFIG /ALL (in windows of course)

(start>cmd>right click and run as admin> IPCONFIG /ALL)

Please make a screenshot of the output and upload it to us here. TIA

When I startup my computer as the desktop launches a message comes up stating:

Error Loading 0cw803ec.dll
The specified module could not be found

What does that mean and how is it affecting my computer. When I run a system scan with Norton Internet Security and SystemWorks it says my computer is fine but I know that has to be doing something. Does anyone know?

Thanks in advance for any help that might be offered.

So im really stressed out, I was using Driver Updaters, and all of a sudden my computer turned off and when I turn it on it says" Error Loading Operating System". I looked on the internet and it says its something about BIOs which I know nothing about. Can somebody PLEASE help me, I really can't lose data. My computer is a HP Pro 3000 MT running Windows XP. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

A:Error Loading Operating System Error

Try tapping F8 on boot up and select " Safe Mode", if that does not work try "last known configuration that worked". Keep away from driver updaters and registry cleaners.

A:Device or DNS server is not responding error

Welcome to the Seven Forums.

In the upper left corner of the Network and Sharing Center there should be a link named manage wireless networks.

Remove the one that you are attempting to connect to.

Restart the computer.

Attempt to connect again.

My Problem Is That My PC Has Been Running Very Slowly Lately, Including That Most Programs Get The Error 'Not Responding' Very Easily, Like When I Do Multiple Clicks Or Try To Run An App Based On Flash And Many Programs (Like iTunes) Won't Open, Though It Will Get A Process In The Task-Manager... I've Analysed My PC For Viruses, Checked The Registry For Failures, Checked For Updates...

Does Anyone Have Any Tips?

A:Programs Either Get The Error 'Not Responding' Or Won't Start At All

This link is no less than 8 pages long at the moment, I start you in the middle, roughly 2008. You could carefully check onward from that point and see what applies to you http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic58483-5.html

However, your type of problem has so many possible reasons it is hard to be sure what to recommend. Make sure that you look at the anti-virus and spyware forum on this site for the lastest and best methods of detecting spyware and other nasties. Just any-old-security will not do !! Check the hardware - have you run chkdsk /f to see if the HDD is ok, and is there plenty of spare space?

Basically, all one can say at this point is that for so many programms to be giving 'not responding' is definitely something badly wrong. Give thre three-finger-salute ctrl-alt-del to bring up task manager and look at the processes tab. Click the CPU column to bring the process using most CPU to the top. What is it?

Please download malwarebytes antimalware from www.malwarebytes.org and update the database and then run a full scan then post the log here

Note that slowness on the system may not always be caused by viruses it can be caused by low memory if that is so then you may need to upgrade your memory so that it has enough

Hello, I am have a tiny problem that I am worried and distracting for me is that this message box keeps coming up everytime I print something from any application, the name of the printer is called 'HP LaserJet 100 color MFP M175a'.
I am running a Windows 8.1 PC with a up-to-date version of Microsoft Windows.

There is a image below that shows you the error that I keep getting everytime I get to print things. It just distracts me.

Have you run HP Print and Scan Doctor, verify that your drivers are up to date. This site may help:

So over the course of a few weeks, my PC has started acting up. I am really worried as this is a gaming PC. Usually when I attempt to open programs such as windows explorer or steam, they will stop responding. If I attempt to close them, with task manager or not, It will cause my computer screen to go blank. I am also sometimes unable to access my files due to 'An I/O device error'. Also, games such as Call of Duty Black Ops 3 do not start and just crash, whereas they used to run perfectly at 60 FPS. I have also recieved a blue screen of death twice.
It would be immensely helpful for any solutions, as it is becoming increasingly difficult to use my computer and I have to constantly restart it to simply access programs.

When I open a pdf in Reader 9, I can see the document, but when I try to scroll down or doing anything else with the window, it locks up. I open Task Manager and Adobe is Not Responding. I also am getting DDE Server Window not shutting down when I try to shut off the computer. I have deleted Adobe Reader, downloaded the updated version and loaded it. When I open it, even before I try to open a file the title line shows Adobe Reader (Not Responding). Seems like all other programs are working normally. I am receiving an error message coming up as "Printer not Responding" when trying to print. My printer is an HP Deskjet 612c and had printing just fine until a couple of weeks ago.

First of all, when I go to print the resume/error button starts flashing and won't turn off until I turn the printer power off. When I turn the printer back on it feeds the blank sheet of paper through. I have checked for paper jams and there are none. The ink cartridges have been installed correctly and I have even tried replacing the printer cable to no avail. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing the printer software to no luck either. My PC is an HP Pavillion 6535. My printer is using a parallel port.

Any suggestions???? Any help would certainly be appreciated.

A:error message & the program is not responding

Hi, kevkr,

Generally speaking, the QUICKEST way to solve your computing problems is to do a little research on your own. The old saying that, "If you need a helping hand, look at the end of your arm", might well apply here. As you learn to help yourself, you'll be a more skilled and confident computer user, and eventually, you might even want to start helping others with THEIR problems. Whether you realize it or not, it looks like you ALREADY had half the battle won in resolving this, simply because you provided good information for us to work with.

I hope you'll think about that, because you did a good job of DESCRIBING your problem. That says good things about your ability to pay attention to details, which is the most important skill you need when faced with ANY computer problem. I say all that because this site and others like it can put skills like yours to good use helping others who aren't as detail-oriented as you are.

That being said, I get the feeling you DIDN'T do your homework before posting this, because there's a good chance the answer to your problem is waiting for you at the McAfee website.

Try this link:

http://ts.mcafeehelp.com/doconly.asp?docid=216975&CategoryId=&chat=

Just so you'll know for future reference, I searched Google for the term "gdlsphlr.dll", and the FIRST result returned by Google was a link to the McAfee site. I want to encourage you to try this yourself, so you'll see exactly what I mean. If you hadn't mentioned McAfee or the .dll file in question in your post, we'd have had to ask you to clarify things, and that could take a while, but you handled this well, and I want you to know that I appreciate it.

Let us know if this solves your problem, and if not, post here again with more information and we'll help you figure it out.

Good luck - hope this helps.

- slingshotter

When I open it, even before I try to open a file the title line shows "Adobe Reader (Not Responding)." Seems like all other programs are working normally. Found some DCOM 10020 and Service Control Manager 7000 errors in the event viewer. Operating system is XP Pro SP2. Suggestions would be much appreciated.

A:Adobe Reader Not Responding Error

This will not solve your problem with Adobe but you may want to try Foxit reader or PDF Xchange Viewer (both freeware) to see if the problem is just with Adobe or something with your system. I gave up Adobe long ago due to similar problems and security issues.

As I was playing Garry's Mod (a physics sandbox) yesterday my screen flickered, froze for a second, and reverted to normal. It said that the display driver had stopped responding and had recovered. I recently deleted 'hijack.displayproperties' from my registry files with MWB, but I've heard it does nothing if you delete it. Oddly enough I've never had the problem before.

Is there a way to fix it? I've heard that the automatic update sometimes overwrites the nvidia drivers so they have to be reinstalled or something...

I had the same issue, and the ONLY way I fixed it was move to an ATI card.

My ISP is Cox.net and I'm on a cable modem with the latest firmware.
No router, no wireless just a Motorola SB5120 cable modem.

I have no problems with internet connection or speed but just wondering if anyone else has seen similiar events in your log. It doesn't affect anything I know of other than it only happens on bootup.

Actual event says
" Name resolution for the name wpad.ph.cox.net timed out after none of the configured DNS servers responded"

Thanks

A:Bootup Error 1014 DNS Server not responding

SOLVED

I found a solution for my issue above.

It means that my computer is set up to try to use Web Proxy Auto Discovery (WPAD).

Cox does not use proxy servers, WPAD or otherwise.

If you want to stop it go to
Control Panel>Internet Options>Connections tab and click on the 'LAN Settings' button and un-check the 'Automatically Detect Settings' box.
Note that this is on by default in later versions of Windows 7.

A:Not Responding Error Message/ Defrag Problem

I have several suggestions that might resolve your problem.1. Move as many of those large files (listed at the bottom of your post) onto disk and off your hard drive. Review your hard drive and look for files or folders that you can delete or archive to disk.2. Use BC's Startup Programs database to review the programs you have launching every time you boot; this database will provide guidance about which of these are needed, optional, or not needed.Regards,John

Lately Word 2002 (Windows XP Home Edition) is constantly 'not responding', especially after I have highlighted some text on the web and then tried to copy it into a Word document. It's very irritating! When I click on "more Information" in the error message I get the following:
Error Signature:
sz App Name: Winword.exe sz App Ver: 11.0 6568.0
sz ModName: hungapp sz Ver: 0.0.0.0 offset 00000000

Please advise me how to correct this. Should I try to reinstall Word and if so, will I lose all my files? If i need to upgrade to a newer version of Word what is the easiest and cheapest way to do this? Thanks--I am not computer savvy!

Im having the strangest problem with connecting to the internet on dial-up and it kind of started months ago but got extremely worse ever since I got an XP computer days ago For OCCURENCE error not with responding computer remote STRANGE #678 most of the day my computer cannot connect to the internet no matter how often i try and an error message appears stating the remote computer did not respond Now the strange thing is im only able to connect on line after pm or early morning before am or so maby after or or more attempts compared to or more during the day time with no results I tested my XP computer at the store where i bought it and at my parents house and it has no problem at all connecting to my internet provider at those locations My internet provider is blaming my phone line or some other kind of interference although Bell Canada has tested my complete line and reported that it is fully functional with no problems So my question is why is this happening

A:STRANGE OCCURENCE with error #678 remote computer not responding

Hi, welcome to TSF

What sort of dial up - as in 56k modem?

Are there other people in the house you live who will be using the phone line, i.e. other access points in the house with phones plugged into?

Do you have any sort of additional services set up on the line, i.e. caller waiting, some sort of answering service (these can interfere).

Check the state of the access point boxes - are they damaged?

Check the above things - then I would be going back to Bell Canada to be honest and insisting there is a problem and you want them to visit you to troubleshoot further.

I am using the latest version of Windows 8.1 on my desktop computer. Once in a while I get this popup that gives me the "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" error:

I recently went to the Intel site and downloaded and installed an update to their driver, but that didn't help.

Shall I be concerned about this error? And is there any way to fix it?

PS. I checked the Windows Event Log for any errors and there's only one warning in the system log that says this:

Display driver igfx stopped responding and has successfully recovered.

A:Display driver stopped responding and has recovered error

I've had it happen to my NVidia driver but once and when their new driver came out my problems went away. If this is a recurring problem, one solution is to do a clean install of your Intel drivers, scrub the old ones out and install the newest driver fresh. It can cause quite a few issues otherwise.

Do a clean driver install and then see if it fixes your problem.

My current system is running stable by following this sequence.

UAC ENABLED
POWER MANAGMENT SET TO HIGH
1. Uninstall all GPU related drivers/ and ADOBE FLASH
2. Turn of PC (not at wall)
3. Clear CMS
4. Boot allow windows to load
5. Shut down then Turn off pc (at wall)
6. Remove GPU and PCI cards
7. Re-install
6. Restart
7. Hit del (load bios)
8. Reset to defaults
9. Load windows
10. Install 9.3 ATI (for me vista 64_win_7 64)
11. Alter TDR in registry set to 0
http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/device/display/wddm_timeout.mspx
12. Look for unsupported monitor d-word change to 0
(Should still be under HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers )
13. Restart (happy gaming)

Prior to this, Bioshock and all other games would freeze after 3-7 mins, last night I gamed solid for an hour no freeze.

Ps. I think it is either unsupported monitor modes on windows 7 (1680 by 1050) or the TDR function. Although 1680 by 1050 is detected by CCC and windows, there may still be a compatibility issue. Any hows it?s now working.
I don?t think it is adobe flash plug-in, UAC or power management.

Hi, i have a problem with my laptop: from time to time, when i'm doing regular things such as reading a document, or surfing the internet, the laptop's screen goes black and freeze for about 1-2 seconds, then gets back to normal. Right after, i got a pop-up message from taskbar that says the following: 'Display driver stop responding and has recovered'. Do you guys know how could i get rid of this ? It's quite annoying. If it's about my display driver, i've installed the latest from my laptop manufacturer's website (VAIO). Here are the specs: BR4TO92-LAPTOP.txt

A:Vista hanging, ctrl+alt+del not responding, 66 page error log

hi,,, i dont know if its the same in the usa but here in England you get a 1 year warranty as standard,,, this is has to be honoured by the shop you got it from as you purchased from them,, if you got it direct from the maker then responsibility lies with them,,,, this product is what is known here in the UK as "unfit for use" and as such can be returned for a new pc or a full refund. Looks like you have a lemon, i would not wast any more of your time and return it to the vendor who you got it from ad let them sort it out,,,, i would make backups of all your stuff and also copy all events in event viewer to a folder and store it on a disc/flashdrive/external hdd,,, this will be your proof of the machine being faulty from the beginning,,i hope this helps you,,,, if for some reason you cant do this then i would do a system file check,,,,sfc /scannow if this does not help then try a startup repairhttp://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/repair-windows-with-windows-startup-repair/for both of these options you will need your recovery disc or borrow a friends disc if they have one,,,,good luck

As i'm playing counter-strike Source for about 5-10 minutes the game just freezes on the screen it is on. Or it crashes to the desktop and a yellow pop up box comes up saying Display driver stopped responding.
Interestingly I have played Battlefield Bad Company 2 for hours without problems. Same goes for Sniper Ghost Warrior and NF Shift.
I reinstalled the entire Steam folder, as well as different Nvidia drivers including the Physx.
Does anyone know what I can do.
I found this same problem all over the internet but could not figure out what to do.
I have
AMD Athlon II X3
Biostar 870+ board
EVGA Nvidia GTS 250 512mb video card
DDR 3 Ram

Hello,

I am really confused and frustrated. Just finished spending the last 8 hours writing a research paper. It's about 7 pages, and I went to click save as, decided the name, and then said ok...and now my microsoft word window says not responding. I checked the folder where I saved the document, and it has a document by that name, but it's 0 KB big and when you double click on it it's an empty word document. Omg, I can't have just wasted 8 hours of writing. I'm afraid to force the program to quit because then I'll lose everything for sure. I used the vista snipping tool to take a snapshot of the part of the page that is showing, but I can't get it to unfreeze...has anyone had this problem, and is there a way to unfreeze it so I can at least copy out the text?

OMG I'm dying. help.

A:Microsoft Word (Not Responding) error right after saving, but I need the document!

Hi, try Volume shadow copy :-
Right-click the folder where the document is stored
Click the Previous Version tab
Now select the latest item under the Date modified column
Finally click on the 'Restore ...' button.

Windows 7, 32bit, during normal use makes the sound of a USB device being detached and then the screen goes black.

After a few seconds the screen comes back again but the computer hardly responds to anything; then the screen goes black again. This error message is displayed: "display driver Intel Graphics Accelerator Drivers for Windows Vista(R) stopped responding and has been successfully recovered.

There is no option but to manually shut the computer down.
I updated the display driver and bios, but it still happens 3 to 4 times a day.

A:Win 7 error message - Display driver stopped responding

Hi

You?ve got an preinstalled Win 7 on your notebook?

But the error message means that:
>display driver Intel Graphics Accelerator Drivers for Windows Vista(R) stopped responding

Seems Vista graphic card driver is installed on Win 7 OS.

Maybe you should remove the Vista display driver and should install an Win 7 graphic driver?.

A:Error: Display driver stopped responding and has recovered

Hi

I found nice article about this error - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2665946
I don't know which machine do you use but what you can try is to visit Toshiba download page and check if the latest video driver is installed on your machine.

To be honest from time to time the same happen on my machine. I use Win7 64bit. It usually happen if several applications are open and one of them is active with flash player window.

Can you please tell us which notebook model do you have and which version of Windows is installed?
