I am running WinXP, SP2. I have a Fellows Internet Touchpad installed. When I go to the Control Panel and select the Mouse, the standard Microsoft Mouse window opens instead of the Cirque Touchpad window. The mouse is identified correctly as a Cirque Ps2 Touchpad and the driver is correctly specified. The special functions of the touchpad are all working ok, however without being able to open up the correct properties window, I cannot make any changes. It used to work properly. I have tried uninstalling the touchpad driver and reinstalling the touchpad driver. That does not fix it. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix it?http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/53989/touchpad-gets-wrong-properties-window/
I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)
When I insert a CD in either of my two drives the window that jumps up giving me the options of what program to use (CD Properties ) is maximized and takes up the whole screen. This just started happening. If I double click on the top blue titlebarlbar it goes back to it's smaller (normal) size. I tried holding down the ctrl. key and closing the window but the next time the computer boots it does the same thing. It is not possible to drag this type of window in any way. The only option for this type of window in the upper right corner is an X to close it. It may need a registry edit but I don't know how. To access a similar type window open "my computer, right click on any drive, the window that opens is the same type. Any help would be appreciated.
Minimize it again and this time hold down shift and close it off.

I am using a keyboard w/touchpad (Adesso ACK-730UB), which is plug + play, no mfg. driver provided.
I want to disable the "tap to click", use pad for moving cursor and nothing else.
There's nothing in Mouse Properties that can change this touchpad setting.
Properties shows "hid-compliant mouse" and nothing specific to touchpad. Options are "buttons/ pointer/ pointer options/ wheel/ hardware".
Searching, found suggestions to install drivers by Ultranav and Synaptics. Thought it might work even though I'm using a different touchpad - didn't help. There's nothing on Adresso's site for this either.
Any ideas if this can be fixed? Lots of people seem to hate "tap to click", but I'm stuck with hardware that seems unsupported. Must be a workaround somewhere, no?
More: Adesso keyboard uses a GlidePoint touchpad by Cirque. Tried a couple of their drivers, but they are not recognized ("There are no devices available to configure").http://www.sevenforums.com/hardware-devices/333218-touchpad-too-sensitive-mouse-properties-no-help.html
With Windows 8.1, I am now having problems displaying and importing jpegs. They show in odd colors, with a lot of black in them. This wasn't the case early on, but now jpegs are impossible to work with for me. I
only use -- Windows Photo Viewer, and place them in WORD documents. Nothing fancy. I cannot find a resolution here or anywhere. Can you help?
This is crazy. When I try to save the BAD image, it looks horrible (blue, purple, heavy black frame) on my screen in PHoto Viewer, but I import it here and it looks fine. Please, help.
I am having Acer Aspire 5052 ANWXMi-Turion Laptop.
I have Windows-XP professional service pack 2 installed on it.
I am facing two problems in it:
1. If I go to My Computer and try to open any of the drives (i.e C, D, E & F) by double-clicking the drive labels, the drive is not getting opened.
But I am able to open the hard-drives using right-click-->open. This double-click problem is not happening anywhere else like in other folders etc.
2. The second problem I am facing is that I have 1GB of RAM in it(2 each of 512MB), but when I see System Properties it shows a RAM of 768MB but if I go to
System Information and check the Total Physival Memory it shows as 1024MB.
I would be really greatful if somebody can help me in resolving these issues.
Hi .The memory differential...is probably caused by the fact that part of the physical RAM installed (1GB) is being used for onboard video. The System Properties info reflects the net of total RAM installed minus such allocation. What do you see if you go Start/right-click on My Computer and select Properties? Should be 768MB, if I am right. There is a setting in the BIOS which you can use to adjust the amount of RAM so used. You can set it for a lesser amount. If you only do normatl things, there is no reason to allocate more than 64MB for onboard video, IMO.http://www.ehow.com/how_2138456_configure-...rough-bios.htmlSorry, but I have no answer for your first question, although I have seen the answer posted in this forum before.Louishttp://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/168646/wrong-display-of-ram-in-system-properties/

Are you running a good Antivirus app? Strange things like this are often caused by virii!
My computer has 2gb's of ram installed and my BIOS recognizes that I do as claimed and so does my System Information but right clicking on "My Computer" and Properties displays 256mb. Any one know a solution or what the problem is or if it will in fact affect my performance? I just formated to XP Pro from Media Center Edition which came with my laptop and had to change a BIOS setting for "enable native SATA support" for it to recognize my HD in order to format with XP Pro CD.
Open Task Manager (Ctrl+Alt+Del) and under the Performance tab, see what it lists under Commit Charge (K)>Limit.
You can also check in Start>Help and Support>Whats new in Windows XP>Tools (bottom left)>My Computer Information. (General Information)
Another way is Start>Run>type: msinfo32 and Enter.
Se what it losts their as the total amount of RAM picked up.
Hey! i'm new here and i have recently noticed something wrong with my date and time properties. When i checked it it said "Datum en Tijd" where date and time is supposed to be at.

I am working on an IBM I series 1300 for a customer of mine and I have a bit of a problem. The BIOS states a P3 750MHz processor but the Win XP properties shows a 477MHz P3?????????????? I have never seen this before and it seems to me that the computer is running a little slower than these have in the past. It's like it's running at 477Mhz instead of 750Mhz. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance
Sounds to me like a communications failure between your motherboard and Windows. I'd suggest updating your motherboard resource drivers (chipset, etc); these should be readily available from the website of your motherboard's manufacturer.http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f10/wrong-cpu-specs-in-system-properties-243469.html
hey everyone, I recently bought an HP lap i5 6200U, according to intel it suppose to be 2.80Ghz maximum but on my task manager and system properties it shows 2.40Ghz, at the same time sometimes on task manager the speed goes all the way to 2.70GHz,
Hi, CPU uses a technology called SpeedStep technology. It won't run its full speed if NOT required and it can bump up its normal speed when required. I have a folder (actually many) that give the wrong size in MB. Right clicking on a folder and selecting properties pops up a dialog that has the size listed as 11.5MB (12,163,992 bytes). Last I checked 12,163,992 bytes = 11.6MB. Why does windows report an inconsistent size.
I need to understand where windows got the 11.5MB from.
PS I was going to upload a screenshot of the property dialog but could not figure out how to insert a picture into this forum.

I have a really weird situation here I have two devices Audio Solved: wrong properties. up in showing audio devices speakers and headphones Solved: Audio devices showing up wrong in properties. both connected to my computer The headphones use a usb and a audio slot and the speakers use only a audio slot When I go in properties they show up backwards If audio is playing through my headphones it says they are playing through the speakers This really hasn t been much of an issue because it hasn t really effected anything but now I m trying to optimize the settings of these devices If I try to enable higher bass quality for my headphones under quot headphones quot in the audio section it enhances it for the speakers But for both devices there are different options to enable or disable so I can t use them on the correct device I know what I m saying probably doesn t make sense but let me put it like this Under my headphones there is an option for optimizing quot Headphone virtualization quot but I can t actually put it to effect because it applies for my speakers which seems to do nothing and under my speakers I don t get that option So basically what I m saying is I can t optimize my audio devices because there is some sort of weird error nbsp

Anyone know of a list of useful properties window extensions?
I have added a mediainfo tab and a file hashing tab and I quite like the idea of having useful apps right there.

It's hard to explain, so I record it on my phone: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=okY-ad_xIS4
Please, help me!
thanks and happy new year

Hello. I have noticed a strange fact regarding my windows 7 32 bit operating system. When I delete some files in a folder, then go to properties, when i look at "Contains", it still shows the number of files i had before deletion, not the current number of files in that folder. Is there a way to repair this? Thanks in advance! (rebooted my pc, but with no success, if it is to mention)
BTW: Happy holidays
Did you empty the Recycle Bin?
I don't see a "Contains" choice in any folder property menu. Can you tell me how you get to it, as following the directions you gave does not show it for me.
Maybe post a screen shot of it? Make sure the window you want to capture has the focus.
Press Alt+Print Screen. That will capture the active window.
Print Screen will capture the entire screen, including properties dialogs.
Start MSPaint - Start then Run, type mspaint and press Enter.
Press Ctrl+v to paste the picture in to MS Paint.
Click File then Save as and save it to your Desktop.
Start a new reply.
Click on the Browse button below the message input area.
Navigate to where you saved the picture, select it and click on Open.
Click on Attach This File.
Once uploaded, click on Add To Post to the far right of the uploaded file.
Scroll down and click Preview Post to verify the image shows.
Since I am new to the forum I'm not sure where my problem should be posted I am also not sure if it is a hardware or software related problem but here it is Suddenly when I try to appear window properties does Print dialog not print the print properties dialog window does not appear when i click on the Print properties dialog window does not appear properties button Print properties dialog window does not appear It tries to activate but immediately reverts back to the print window This occurs in both OpenOffice and LibreOffice both of which have previously worked fine for months I often print to both sides of the page echo print but can only print on one side default since I cannot change the properties The only thing I can recall that might have any bearing on the problem is that I had previously printed to a file - something I rarely do I checked the settings and quot print to file quot is not selected I am printing to a HP LaserJet Pro M MFP series PCL printer and am using Windows operating system I have tried reinstalling both word processing programs and have reset the printer to default settings and updated If anyone can help with this problem I would greatly appreciate your help
Printers can be very frustrating to say the least. When I've had printer problems in the past, this is what has worked for me:
1. Unplug the power to the printer
2. Wait about 30 seconds or so
3. Plug it in and let it go through it's initialization
4. Then try it again
If that doesn't work, try reloading the printer driver from the HP site. If it still doesn't work, try a system restore back to the last time the printer was working successfully. That's about all the tricks I know for printers. Hope it helps ...

It's not unusual to receive such an error after using tools to remove malware infection.A "Cannot find...", "Could not run...", "Error loading... or "specific module could not be found" message is usually related to malware that was set to run at startup but has been deleted. Windows is trying to load this file but cannot locate it since the file was mostly likely removed during an anti-virus or anti-malware scan. However, an associated orphaned registry entry remains and is telling Windows to load the file when you boot up. Since the file no longer exists, Windows will display an error message. You need to remove this registry entry so Windows stops searching for the file when it loads. To resolve this, download Autoruns, search for the related entry and then delete it.Create a new folder on your hard drive called AutoRuns (C:\AutoRuns) and extract (unzip) the file there. (click here if you're not sure how to do this.)Open the folder and double-click on autoruns.exe to launch it.Please be patient as it scans and populates the entries. When done scanning, it will say Ready at the bottom.Scroll through the list and look for a startup entry related to the file(s) in the error message.Right-click on the entry and choose delete.Reboot your computer and see if the startup error returns.IMPORTANT NOTE: ise32.exe is related to the family of worms and IRC backdoor Trojans. Backdoor Trojans, IRCBots and Infostealers are very dangerous because they provide a means of accessing a computer system that bypasses security mechanisms and steal sensitive information like passwords, personal and financial data which they send back to the hacker. Remote attackers use backdoor Trojans as part of an exploit to gain unauthorized access to a computer and take control of it without your knowledge. Read Danger: Remote Access Trojans. If your computer was used for online banking, has credit card information or other sensitive data on it, all passwords should be changed immediately to include those used for banking, email, eBay, paypal and online forums. You should consider them to be compromised. They should be changed by using a different computer and not the infected one. If not, an attacker may get the new passwords and transaction information. Banking and credit card institutions should be notified of the possible security breach. Because your computer was compromised please read How Do I Handle Possible Identify Theft, Internet Fraud and CC Fraud? Although the backdoor Trojan was identified and removed, your PC has likely been compromised and there is no way to be sure the computer can ever be trusted again. It is dangerous and incorrect to assume that because the backdoor Trojan has been removed the computer is now secure. Many experts in the security community believe that once infected with this type of malware, the best course of action is to wipe the drive clean, reformat and reinstall the OS. Please read "When should I re-format? How should I reinstall?" and "Help: I Got Hacked. I've had real trouble locating this particular window in Windows 10. The only way I can get to it is if I create a manual entry for a wireless network. In Windows 7 you used to be able to get to it for existing wireless networks that I had previously connected to. Does anyone have any idea how to get to it? Many thanks

Hi all,After I upgraded to Windows 10, my touchpad started working strangely and annoying. Firsly, when I scroll with two fingers, then remove one finger, but keep moving another, scrolling continues for a second and only after that my mouse starts to move. And secondly, after I put 3 fingers on touchpad, then remove 2 and start moving the one that was left, mouse won't move. The issue is probably somehow connected with drivers for touchpad. If somebody had the same problem, or knows at least what is causing it, please comment, I'd really appreciate!http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-System-and-Recovery/Touchpad-wrong-behaviour-on-scroll/td-p/5784269
Quite a bizarre one - every time I try to view the properties of any file or folder, I'm met with:
"Explorer.exe - Application Error
The instruction at "0x02e1415b" referenced at "0x000000000". The momory could not be "written".
Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on CANCEL to debug the program"
Has anyone even encountered this before? Searching the forums produced nothing.
Thank you very much for your time and effort - it's well appreciated.

Hi JohnnyUK have you seen this http://www.microsoft.com/resources/d...d_stp_hwpg.asp give it a shot. Also take a look at this http://www.microsoft.com/resources/d...d_stp_hwpg.asp.
I turned on sharing for the C drive and added an Everyone group in Security to allow access to my other computer on my network. When I go to close the Properties window I a message that says "You are about to change the permissions settings on the root directory of the startup disk which can result in unexpected access problems and reduce security. Do you want to continue?".
I answered yes and it went through all the folders and gave an access denied message on system folders. After if was done I got the same message mentioned when I tried to exit the Properties window. So I removed sharing and the Everyone group. But I'm still in the same situation. I keep going through the same loop and can not exit the Properties window.
Open task manager and end the process all "explorer.exe" and "rundll32.exe"
Everytime i turn on my computer Sys32 properties appears on the screen of my window, please help me solve the problem

Have you checked to see if you are infected? Sometimes an infection will corrupt your onboard protection - so I suggest that you try these free, online scans: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/blogs/usas...?showentry=1252Also, could you please post a screen shot of what appears on your desktop? Here's a link on how to do that: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/how-to-take-and-share-a-screen-shot-in-windows/http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/199886/window-sys32-properties-appears-on-opening/

The System32 folder opens at startup because of a corrupt system registry value. The value could have been corrupted for a number of reasons to include malware or installing/uninstalling a program from the Internet which did not install/uninstall itself properly.Click on the link below:http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htmScroll down to #260 and click "System32 Folder Opens Upon Boot" in the right column. You will be prompted to download xp_systems32opens.vbs. Save the file to your desktop and double-click on it to run the script. Since the script modifies certain registry settings you may receive an alert from your anti-virus or any script blocking program. Ignore the warning and allow it to continue. The problem could also be caused by empty run entries in your startup shortcuts which will open the system32 folder. Check the startup run registry entries and remove those entries. See System32 Folder Opens When Logging on to Windows. These steps involves making changes in the registry. Always back up your registry before making any changes. If you are not familiar with working in the registry, then you should NOT attempt to make any changes on your own. Improper changes to the registry could adversely affect your computer and render it inoperable. ERUNT is an excellent FREE tool that allows you to to take a snapshot (backup) of your registry before making changes and restore it when needed.http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/166169/window-sys32-properties-appears-on-opening/
I've been fighting properties window since I installed window 10...
I use this function a lot. The problem is the properties window opens in the background.
So I have to minimize all the windows I have open to see the properties window.
The weird thing is the properties window is the only one that does that, When I open a new
window of anything it opens in the forground.
Is there a way to force the properties window open in the forground...Thanks...
I fixed it.. If anyone is having this same issue... This is what I used to fix my problem... It's for Windows 7 but it applies to windows 10...
I have a large number of files which I am changing the naming convention for in the Title detail and am getting frustrated having to right click for properties and anvigate tabs ebfore being able to change each one. I can see the Title of the files in the Details view of the folder they are in, but there cannot find a way to edit them in that view other than the manner previosuly stated.
That being said, does anyone know of a workaround that would allow me to change each title without aving to jump through hoops to edit them?
Thanks in advance.
Welcome to the Forums Clockwork,
So if I get it correctly you want to rename multiple files at once?
If so, go to the folder they are located in, click anywhere in the folder, hit crtl and a at the same time to select all the files and then hit F2
After that you'll see that the name banner of the first file in the folder turned empty. You can now type the name you want it to have in, and hit enter. It will change all the files to that name, followed up by a number.
Hope that that helps!
All my hard drives are tested as having no errors in "scan disk", but when attempting to make new folder and "renaming it", or when attempting to do a "properties" on any of my disks ... both cause the windows browser window to crash, and disappear.http://forums.windowscentral.com/ask-question/438986-properties-selection-drive-crashes-browser-window.html

Windows32 might be malware related. You might want to post your thread in the Malware Removal section.
Hello I have two questions that are not critical to the operation of my system but has been driving me crazy in an effort to research them to no avail The only thing that I am pretty sure of is that properties window Folder dialog Extra Tabs on the it Extra Tabs on the Folder properties dialog window is a problem with the registry When I right click on a folder and then click properties the dialog window comes up with extra tabs This happens for every folder on my computer The extra tabs are the same tabs as the My Documents folder shortcut Target General and Sharing and the target window is C Documents and Settings Owner My Documents This results in Extra Tabs on the Folder properties dialog window every folder having an extra General and Sharing tab and a Target tab with the My Documents target in it Interestingly enough the virtual folder that is listed in explorer for My Documents has only tabs but the My Documents folder inside Documents and Settings Owner the actual folder itself has the extra tabs just like every other folder A possibly connected problem is that the Add Remove section of the Control Panel no longer has the install dates or useage level for most programs The dates are in the HKLM uninstall registry keys but they are not being read for some reason I have been installing and uninstalling a lot of programs mostly antivirus antispyware firewall and utility programs in an effort to clean up and speed up my computer and test a lot of different applications This effort has been dramatically successful however I am left with these two minor but annoying issues I did have an issue a couple of weeks ago with being unable to install microsoft updates which cost me many hours of research and effort with the help of Microsoft Support but I managed to fix it partly with their help but mostly with web research Ended up re-installing Office I think this is when the issue of the missing install dates started as the installed programs since this time are showing the install date Any ideas especially about the extra tabs Screenshot is attached Thank you Sybrandus

I have a Dell Inspirion 15r and upgraded to Windows 10 a couple of days ago. All the touchpad gestures worked fine, 3 finger swipe up for task view, 3 down for showing the desktop. Then suddenly, this automatically changed to 3 fingers up opening search. 3 fingers down opens suddenly the settings.
The settings in the Dell touchpad app were still correct though. I did a system repair, which fixed the problem. But now, this sudden change happened again. Also reinstalling the driver didn't work. Both times this happened after putting my laptop in sleep mode.
Has anyone else encountered this problem?
I would suggest you to update the BIOS, Video card driver and touchpad drivers in a sequence on the system for issue resolution. Please enter your service tag # on the link below, select the OS, then download the BIOS from BIOS section, Video card driver from Video section and touchpad driver from ‘Mouse, Keyboard & Input Devices’ section onto the system and install it.
Please let me know if this helps.
I ve used Calendar Creator Deluxe for a couple of years without problems but all of a sudden it crashes when I try to access the Properties window This happens using both right click and the menu The Properties window displays incompletely and then the dialog box pops up that says quot Calendar Creator has encountered a problem and needs to close quot I thought the calendar file - Windows? Window Problems Solved: or Properties Creator Calendar was corrupt so I created a new calendar Same problem I did a repair install Same problem I Solved: Properties Window Problems - Calendar Creator or Windows? uninstalled ran my reg cleaner Advanced System Optimizer and reinstalled It still crashes when the Properties window comes up In light of that history I suspect that the culprit may be Windows even though it only affects CC I ran ShellEx View and could not see any handlers that came specifically from Broderbund or anything that is specifically for the bcc file extension Any ideas on what could be causing this problem would be greatly appreciated nbsp
When i right click on My Computer icon and click Properties, System Properties window open for a second and immediately closes. I have the same problem even if i try to open System Properties from Control Panel. How do i solve this problem without doing system restore. Keyboard volume keys also not working
Windows 8 enterprise edition is only available in large quantities and it is targeted to companies. Is your copy is legal ?. Have you used any activators which floating on internet ?. The symptoms you described are common with pirated copies.
Hello I'm not really new to this vista System window desktop Personalize and disabled!! Properties, on control panel experience and all i have no serious problems encountered before aside from a few lags in the system when it starts or opens an application but just recently well yesterday I tried opening my system properties to run my OS in very minimal visual effects since it was running a little slow again I was not able to open the thing after right clicking the properties window in Computer also i have tried going to control panel but the only thing i can see after i click on the control panel button is a window with an empty space named windows explorer and it suddenly closed after like a second or so also i tried also opening my quot personalize quot on the desktop and it has the same response as with my control panel what probably is the problem with my computer i System Properties, Personalize window on desktop and control panel disabled!! read that it could be a malware but my anti-virus could not detect anything at allhttp://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f217/system-properties-personalize-window-on-desktop-and-control-panel-disabled-339491.html
I tried to ignore this problem, but it has become increasingly frustrating when I have to work with files in Windows Explorer.
The problem is, when I right-click on a file and choose Properties, it takes 5-8 seconds to open the File Properties Window. Strangely, when I do the same with folders (Folder Properties) the window opens almost instantaneously as it should. I have tried to fiddle around with ShellExView but to no avail - after all, I assume that program is just for controlling context menu entries. I searched and googled but I couldn't find any similar problems, the closest I got was that software.
Do you know what's the problem? Thanks in advance!
You can keep disabling more non-microsoft extensions in shellexview and see if any of them are causing it (do a system backup first)http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/588418/windows-explorer-takes-5-8-seconds-to-open-a-file-properties-window/

I have Active Deselects Touchpad Window a Touchpad Deselects Active Window laptop with Windows I always had an annoying issue with it-- whenever I swiped the touchpad to the right it would deselect my active window It wouldn't bring up the charms bar it wouldn't bring up my previous action It would just lolnope this window is turned off now The taskbar of the window would go faded as if I had clicked off-window As you can imagine this is especially annoying when playing things like MineCraft it would act as though I had pressed escape I have all but abandoned this game due to this I have to carefully move my finger from the very center of the touchpad in a clear and obvious arcing motion before it wouldn't deactivate the window and sometimes that doesn't even help And it's only to the right I had managed to turn it off but after installing Assassin's Creed III for PC it started happening again It's a Dell touchpad I have deactivated gestures in the Dell touchpad menu as well as having disabled the Charms menu popup and edge swiping scrolling in both the Dell touchpad menu AND in the Win system menu yet the problem persists I have no idea why it keeps changing or what it was I changed the first time to make it stop doing it Any ideas how I can fix this It's severely annoying Dari

The best and easiest fix would be to use Windows System Restore to return your system state to a date that precedes the two week period since the anomaly began.
start>programs>accessories>system tools>system restore.
It will not affect any data you entered since but you will have to redo all updates (which may be a good thing because there was a Symantec Update that caused problems for some users that has been corrected now and may have even been the cause of your problem)
If that doesn't work, uninstall "Sticky Note" and see if that corrects the problem. If not, delete and reinstall the Norton Update.
Lat us know.
I upgraded my Asus K53U laptop to windows 8 and ran the refresh utilities to remove bloatware because there was an error message about missing files. the refresh cleared that up but also disabled the multi-finger gestures for the touchpad. I loved that feature!
I have downloaded the drivers for this laptop from the Asus website but they won't install.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
UPDATE: Ok, I figured it out. There are no Windows 8 drivers. I had to install Windows 7 64 bit drivers. And not the Synaptics drivers that everyone says to try. My laptop touchpad is Elan something. Once I searched the Asus website for Windows 7 drivers I found them.
I love my touchpad with Windows 8! It's almost like having a touch screen. Sort of. :-)

I have a Toshiba Satellite L300 laptop, about 2 years old. I use an external USB wireless mouse, and have the touchpad disabled. I am running Windows 7 32 bit.
My issue is that even with the touchpad disabled, it seems like it's still active. If I rest my hands when typing, suddenly I switch to another open window. Very aggravating when doing email.
Is there some way to *really* disable the touchpad? Can I uninstall it? Or will it just auto-detect itself when I restart?
Second, I am wondering if this is related to an upgrade of the driver. I can't remember if it was doing this before I updated the driver for the Synaptics touchpad or not. To downgrade the driver, do I just use the device manager or is it best to uninstall it, and then install the previous version?
On my laptop S50D-A-10F and windows 10 most selections using touch pad results in windows help window popping up. I have resolved this several times but it keeps coming back. Use external mouse and everything is OK. I never use windows search so completely disabling it would be great.https://forum.toshiba.eu/showthread.php?92803-Satellite-S50D-A-10F-Windows-10-Selection-window-popping-up-using-touchpad
Brand new laptop running windows 8.1 Touchpad works for about 30 seconds after windows boots up then stops. Tried downloading latest drivers from Toshiba site but it didn't fix the problem. Tried the touchpad function keys but that is not the issue. Called Toshiba support and they suggested sending it in for a factory reset.
I also have a problem with AMD graphics going split screen after computer goes into a sleep state. Downloaded and installed latest drivers for this on advice of Tech support but not fixed either.
I'm a bit concerned as a search shows both these problems not uncommon and iv'e spent a lot of time copying over data and installing software, don't want to lose it and lose time waiting for factory reset if I have to send ot back.
Anyone have any ideas?

Hi all. My girlfriend has an Acer Aspire laptop on Windows XP (Russian language OS) which I have just connected to an Epson CX7300 printer (purchased in Russia). The printer is connected to my English laptop and all is fine, but when connected to the Russian one, the print information window just comes up with vertical bars (e.g. IIIIIII).
Some windows come up in English and some others come up in what looks like it could be Arabic, written from right to left!
I selected Russian language from the menu when I first installed it and this problem arose. So, I uninstalled it and reinstalled, selecting Russian again and got the same problem.
Russian language is in the list, but somehow it's gone to Arabic!!!
Can anyone help me with a solution?
Make sure the drivers were downloaded from the epson site and are in English.
No matter how many times I go to 'View' settings, every time I choose a new window (i.e. opening a folder) I am always met with a small-format window rather than a full-screen, full-size one. I also am met with random lists instead of 'medium-sized icons', which I have opted for and chosen as default in 'view'. Have I missed a colossally simple tick in a box?
By default, folder views are a per folder setting, and will be the same as when last closed per folder.
In a library, the folder view is shared between all included folders in the library.
If you like, you could use the method in the tutorial below to set a default folder view for all folders.
Folder Template - Set Default for All Folders in Windows 8
Afterwards, open File Explorer, maximize it to full screen, and close File Explorer. Each time you open File Explorer it should now open full screen as it was last closed.
Hope this helps,

Hello i Have the above problem while I try to share a printer on a domain network.
My windows firewall (localy) is also damage, is that the problem that I have to solve first?
Windows 8 - cannot share a printer error message appears "[Window Title] Printer Properties [Main Instruction] Printer settings could not be saved. There are no more endpoints available from the endpoint mapper. [OK]
You may need to reinstall the printer. Remove the printer driver from Control Panel\Programs and Features, then add the printer from Devices and Printers.
Please note that if the printer driver is not in the list in Devices and Printers, I suspect that the printer is currently not compatible with Windows 8. In this case I suggest you contact the printer manfuacturer for more information.

We just got a Dell XPS-15z, and, we have questions about scrolling on the Cypress touchpad using the Cypress drivers.
When scrolling down (either one finger or 2 fingers), when you hit the bottom of the touchpad, is there any way for the scrolling to continue without your having to lift your finger(s) back to the top of the touchpad? On other Dell laptops, I have Chiral motion, or the scrolling continues so long as your finger is at the bottom of the touchpad? I tried enabling the "Continued Motion" option just in case that was what did it, but that did not seem to work.
Which brings up another question re what "Continued Motion" does.
Also, is there any manual/help document for this driver either on the internet, or in the software itself?
I looked on the forum and on the internet, and couldn't find any answers.
Haven't updated your laptop's trackpad driver lately? Then you may well want to consider doing so, at least if your laptop is equipped with a Synaptics trackpad. As a user on the Hardware Zone forums discovered, the latest Synaptics driver seems to enable multitouch gestures on older laptops that didn't previously support them, including two-finger scrolling, and three-finger click. What's more, while the drivers themselves come from HP, they should work just fine on other laptops with a Synaptics trackpad. Hit up the link below to try it out for yourself.

TouchPad movement very slow some times not working but when i hard reset Touchpad working good. Its working with external mouse very well. Each and every time i should hard reset then touchpad works fine. I am looking for permanent solution.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Business-Notebooks/TouchPad-movement-very-slow-but-when-i-hard-reset-Touchpad/td-p/5784754
My problem started after updating windows 8.1 to windows 10, of course!
First the touchpad just stopped working, for no reason.
My solution was to uninstall the drive and restart the laptop. And from time to time I had to do this proceed. Two weeks ago windows updated, and the touchpad issue's gone. . Unfortunately, another one appeared.
The feature "mousekey", which is turn it on at ease access to use the numeric keys to use them as a mouse, It's turning itself on. And doesn't matter how many times I turn it off, few seconds and it's on again.
I've tried uninstalling the drive, which after windows the last updating was "ELAN".
Then I replaced by the Toshiba drivers, which is "Synaptic", and uninstalled the drives ,the problem is the same. Because of that, I can't use my numeric key, which is annoying!! If anyone can come up with something I will be grateful.
#1 For some reason my touchpad on my HP 15 (2015 model with 8.1, now upgraded to Windows 10 1511) freezes. I hate that when it happens, you cant use it for 20 or 30 seconds or so. I close my lid and open it back up and it works normal, but then after a little bit it starts doing it again. My driver is up to date, I think it maybe Synaptics? If I need to give more info, please say!
#2: When I scroll on my touchpad up words it opens the start menu every so often when I am scrolling a lot, but when I didn't even open or even get near it or press Windows key. What is causing this? I hate it when it does this and screws up my readings then it stops scrolling and focuses more on the start menu then I have to click out of the menu and go back to what ever I was doing.
I did a touchpad update and now the buttons switch around. when one works the other will pop up with a tiny menu ive never seen before. If both buttons work the touchpad wont work. I have put them to default and it works for a bit then will switch again. Didn't have this problem till that stupid update. I have a dell 15-3552 laptop and its less than 2 months old.http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3518/t/19990973
I got a new probook 450 G2 laptop, and when touchpad driver is intalled the orange LED is always on and when I try to lock the touchpad it doesn't lock, when I uninstall the driver the LED turn off and also the lock doesn't work.
the problem is solved. it was about the driver, when I installed driver on HP website there was a problem, I searched for drivers on internet and I insalled the one in this website http://free-lap-driver.blogspot.com/2014/09/hp-probook-450-g2-drivers-for-windows.html and the problem has solved and the touchpad worked well.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Probook-450-G2-Touchpad-LED-always-on-and-touchpad-lock/td-p/4975567
Model: Dell XPS 15 9530.After a recent motherboard replacement my touchpad doesnt click (as in you cant physically press the buttons) and doesnt register that im pressing the touchpad down. I was wondering whether this is an easy fix or a common issue. Posting from New Zealand but the support over here is pretty attrocious and havent received an email reply for a few days so thought id see if anyone else had similar issues. Was done by a professional so I am wondering why it doesnt work and maybe if he just didnt screw some stuff back up right.
Thank you for writing to us!
We would suggest you to first uninstall the touch pad driver and then restart the system install the latest drivers from the Dell site .
Use the link for the latest drivers :www.dell.com/.../diagnose
Once the drivers are update check if works fine.
Kindly private message the service tag and email address.
To all - My first post in this forum but I ve been around the block a few times building my own machines and for others but a month ago i ended up springing for a dell xps desktop b c i got a great deal on a scratch and dent system with an i - processor tb drive and an ATI gb graphics card So long story short I ve audio!! PSU Dell horrible desktop gone XPS 8300 upgrade wrong, wrong....no added one component and upgraded one existing component The first was adding an SSD drive to the mix which worked out wonderfully i boot from power off to desktop in seconds Very pleased The second seemed to be just as successful I replaced the stock Dell XPS 8300 desktop PSU upgrade gone wrong, horrible wrong....no audio!! PSU watts with an Antec watt continuous power PSU certified and all Reconnected all the cables crossed my fingers turned on the power supply got the green light on the motherboard so turned on the computer and all was fantastic The catch is I didn t notice until hours later i d not heard a sound from the computer in quite some time Tested by playing a few songs and nothing Here s where i got lost In the quot playback devices quot right clicking on the audio icon in the task manager tray it shows the music playing as in the levels are bouncing up and down First thought - i m an idiot and plugged my speakers into the wrong hole not the case Second thought - speakers could be toast - not the case Tested speakers on mp player and tested the audio cable by plugging headphones in the front audio ports the xps has the rear audio and a mic and headphone jack on the top of the casing Still showing the sound as registering tells me when i ve unplugged a the speaker cable or plugged it back in but i m not getting any sound So did the usual Reassembled everything to make sure all connections were secure twice Reinstalled all audio drivers Even got out the OLD psu and plugged that in to see if magically the audio would work and it did not My thinking is that i bumped banged something when removing the PSU and installing the new one as the audio worked before but not after Remember seeing something bent slightly on the MB a tic-tac size black and white cylindrical object standing straight up and just moving it back to a degree angle but something tells me that is my problem Anyone know how to test and see if i ve damaged the motherboard or if it s possibly some other unrelated problem I m thinking of stopping by my local best buy and buying a usb external sound card to test it out tomorrow any idea in the meantime I just can t come to any other conclusion than i nixed something removing the PSU i mean the audio worked fine before and stopped working after and now i see the audio playing and the playback levels jumping up and down in my volume tray but no actual sound I think my specs are listed below but i m running win ultimate x i - processor TB HDD SSD PSU gb RAM checked to make sure all modules were seated correctly already and have a ATI graphics card Any help would be greatly appreciated Cheers Mark nbsp
Last night, My MS Paint GUI went screwy.
It looks like it is out of Aero mode or something, but Aero troubleshooter found no problem & everything else is fine. I was having an issue with a video game for PC (full screen) which normally fiddles with the Windows theme, but I honestly dont know.
I dont like the adjusted look, and fear this is one of those simple problems with a insanely complex solution.
Thanks in advance, back later

since friday we have a strange problem with some clients and ARP answers. We notice that our switch recognize wrong MAC addresses on some ports.
We use wireshark to see what happens and we get the following:
172.30.71.6 (XX:XX:XX:F7:52:75)172.30.41.1 (XX:XX:XX:38:d1:a8)172.30.63.1 (XX:XX:XX:c2:b0:b9)172.30.14.1 (XX:XX:XX:88:c7:4f)172.30.59.1 (XX:XX:XX:7b:67:4d)
Wireshark runs on client 1 (172.30.71.6, promiscuous mod off)
Client 5 (172.30.59.1) send a broadcast arp question (who has 172.30.41.1 - tell 172.30.59.1) and client 1 (172.30.71.6) is sending ARP replies with src = XX:XX:XX: 38:d1:a8.
172.30.41.1 (XX:XX:XX:38:d1:a8) is offline (network cable removed) and 172.30.71.6 has no entry of 172.30.41.1 (XX:XX:XX:38:d1:a8) in his arp cache.
The clients run Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1
Why we get these phenomenon and how can we solve it? Is there maybe a problem with some updates of the last patchday?
Thanks for the reply and kind regards
Not really sure what genre this problem should be on. However i have recently purchased a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Li2727 notebook. Working fine when i got it but i decided to use a usb mouse instead of touchpad now the touchpad has stopped working entirely even when usb mouse id plugged out. i really want to resolve the problem. i have already gone onto control panal, mouse but the touchpad does not come up as a device. Any help appriciated thanks.
Welcome to the forums.
Been a while since I had a laptop, but I seem to remember there being a setting on what to do with the touchpad when the mouse is plugged in. Unfortunately I don't remember where and have no way of finding it.
Have you tried rebooting with the mouse unplugged?
Sorry I can't be of more help. The manual for the laptop ought to have that info in it somewhere.
My ISP (windstream) is claiming nothing is wrong when my town is having trouble connect to internet itself. I don't know about other towns, never go there. I am suppose to have 12 Mb and The most I have had in the past 2 weeks is 3. Friends have even less somehow. Usually 10AM-10PM the average is 300 Kb. I have to pause a video for 10 minutes to load a minute sometimes.
They claim nothing is wrong. Anyone translate that into something that can be wrong?

Whenever I add an attachment to my emails, and even here on your website when I uploaded the attached pics, the 'Choose to Upload' pop-up window containing (in this case) my pics ALWAYS (but never used to) opens in the Details mode instead of Thumbnails where I can actually view the pics to be attached prior to attaching them.
I would like the default setting for this occurrence to obviously be in the Thumbnails mode.
In a related issue I would also like to be able to load more than one pic at a time when attaching pics to emails, etc...
Is there such a setting?
Thanks for the assistance

well i ordered a studio xps 9000 and i forgot to ask my dell salesperson about how my free mcafee subscription be renewed if i install a window 7 free upgrade from a window vista?well my mcafee free subscription be gone forever or is there a way for me to get it back???
I am not sure which Windows update caused this, but ever since that download, whenever I close a window, the little blue disc keeps turning until the window DOES finally close. (Hope you understand what I'm saying.) This happens after closing EACH window, ALL the time.
Essentially, it takes a few extra secs for the closed window to really close. It's irritating/frustrating because I don't know how to fix it. I've put as much of my comp's info in my profile as I know or could find. Have been working with comps for six or so years. Not a total dummy, help alot of friends , and always reaching to learn more.
Have never seen this problem anywhere or it would be fixed by now, lol Can't STAND the waiting it causes til I can move onto something else.
Any suggestions?? PLEASE???
CompInfo: Vista Ultimate, IE8--See Profile for more.
I thank you for your time.
Lets try two steps to see if we can fix the problem
Assuming that you are using IE go to>tools>internet options>advanced>resest and see if that helps.
Second try with clean boot to see if some software is behind the problem
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
If it works follow the instructions to find the precise cause
i couldnt think of how to describe it for the title easily and I am about to go home to maybe tomorrow I will work it out.
My Vista box is currently demonstrating curious behaviour. When I open IE7 I select a favorite and it opens a new window with that favorite in it. If I do a search with my default provider in the original window, the search results appear in a new tab in the second window.
The second window does not display this behaviour. It works normally with my standard settings - open favorites in the current tab.
Again, favorites chosen in the first window continue to appear in the second window. Search results too.
Running IE7 in safe mode stops this behaviour but I have not installed any new software and I have removed all my temporary internet files/addon settings etc.
Any ideas would be great. Funny old game eh

Been messing with this for days. When I open the Control Panel I do not have the option to switch the view on the left side pane. All that is there is the See Also window. I went to view, Toolbar, Customize and added the views icon to the toolbar. As long as I keep the customize toolbar box open and move it up or down I can see it on the toolbar. Once I close the Customize Toolbar window the view icon grays out on the tool bar. My back button is the same way. I checked in another users window and the control panel is fine. I have Windows XP SP3. I am the Admin on the PC. Any help would be great.
In the Control Panel window click on the Tools tab > Folder Options, click on the "Show common tasks in folders" button and click OK or Apply. That should restore the Category and Classic View options.
