I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Run this fix reg file :http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs_edits/langbarrestore.reg
You may need to right click on it, and select "Save As"
Once downloaded (to Desktop?)
Right click again on it, and select merge (Yes, ok)
Restart to test all's now ok

Windows XP-P. Suddenly the language task bar disappeared. I tried all options in regional language setting, not succesful. I have unchecked the "Turn off advanced text services", and clicked "apply", and then goto Preferences>Language Bar, but all Options are greyed out, I can't click any one of the 4 options. And when go back to the Advanced setting, the "Turn off advanced text services" went back to checked position.

Any help is appreciated.

i play links golf online, and regularly download golf courses from links corner. the downloads are safe and i always check them. these files come in zipped and i can unpack them right into the course folder of the game.
recently however, i've not been able to unzip them. when i try to open them, i get a window that says "cannot find language.dll in C:\program files\microsoft games\links2003\linksrestorefiles\assets\binaries"
i've uninstalled the game and re installed it. i've even gone to the trouble of purchasing a new game and still this window comes up. i dont even get the option of "extract to" when i right click on the file icon. Any suggestions?

A:missing language.dll

Un-install the game, Delete the program folder for the game and any Configuration files store in your User Profile. Generally programs store settingsin %UserProfile% which in Vista is located in C:\users\YourUserName\AppData or C:\users\YourUserName\Documents The AppData folder is a hiddenfile so you'll want to tell Windows to show hidden files.open up Explorer and go Tools>Folder Options and Click the View tab. Bullet point the "Show Hidden Files" option.ModEdit: Backup your registry prior to attempting to modify the registry in any way. Use the Export function in Registry Editor, System Restore, or the excellent, free program ERUNT (available here: http://www.larshederer.homepage.t-online.de/erunt/ )Also you'll want to delete the Registry Key for the Golf Game. This is usually Named after the Vendor or the Name of the Game. The key will likely be in HKLM\Software\VendorName Or HKLM\Software\NameOfGameAfter you uninstall and delete the registry key, Open Windows Update, and click on Change Setting. Choose the option to Download but let me choose what to install. You should allow the Urgent/Critical and recommended updates as these are the ones Windows would normally install. Search through the the optional and see if youfind any related to Language.Re-install your game and run Windows Update again. This should fix your problem.Cheers

Try this:

Open Control Panel
Regional and Language
Click the Change keyboards... button
Click on the Language Bar tab
Select Floating on Desktop or Docked in the taskbar

See if that shows it for you.

Mrafi,

do not know your situation right nows, not clear what you need.

Can you enter your password or not?

But it is a rule of thumb (for me anyway) to have another account and then you could save yourself.

If you can login you can use languag in the Control Panel.

I installed Windows 8 Pro and installed an additional language(let's say it's B) pack, changed system display language to B, and system locale to B.

And I got infinite BSOD after installing some drivers(not related to language pack, just I made mistake installing old programs), so I 'refresh'ed the system.

Guess what, after the refresh, system display was set to English(united kingdom, which is default), AND system locale remained as language B.

This is the problematic part;
1.I CANNOT change system display language to B, it says it's unavailable.
2.The system regards the language pack is already installed because I can still use B as system locale.
3.I cannot reinstall or remove the language pack. LPKSETUP doesn't detect B.

SO i'm pretty much stuck, and I don't want to reinstall just to change the system display language.

Is there any solution to this(removing/reinstalling language pack)?

A:Program files folder is in different language than display language

It seems to me that it would have to stay English (or the language the coders named it) as the programs look to those folders and their exact names/wording for files to use. If someone made for example call of duty then translated duty to Greek and the code looked for duty, it would only find the translation and it would fail to find the thing its looking for.

I have no info to back this up but its my theory as why things like documents can change but not program files folder names.

A:what is the difference between scripting language and interpreted language ???

it has been answered in your topic here
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2073273

One slight addition I would add to that answer is that it isn't a correct question in first place as script language can & does often include interpreted language

Interpreted languages need a compiler to run
Many script languages have a native compiler inbuilt into windows & other OS to enable them to run

It seems to me that the default language input method changes with apps being loaded, supposed I set my default input language to PT and then use MS Word in Chinese, when I close my Win 8.1, the next time I turn on my computer, the default will change to CN instead of PT. Anyone knows how to make Win 8.1 stays with the default input method and not the last apps used? I went to Control Panel/Language and did not find any settings there beside the one that I already did, which was my default input method set to PT.

Thanks for your comment/suggestion

Hello I'm in Korea and have been using both Korean and English on my laptop Last night my keyboard suddenly became unable to switch to Korean to type or more specifically would 'switch' to Korean but still use English letters when I typed I've searched everywhere and tried everything I can to fix it but nothing is working From what I can gather the Korean keyboard layout has somehow switched to English letters instead of Korean when I go to languages keyboards - gt Change Keyboards - gt select the Korean keyboard and click properties it brings up the Language Language Bar/Display problem keyboard layout and it's all English letters I assumed the best thing to do would be to just re-install the language but I can't figure out how to do that I don't have the option from the previously mentioned keyboard languages location and the best answer I could find online had something to do with Windows updates but that didn't work for me either What am I doing wrong

A:Language Bar/Display Language problem

Hi atwoodruff, welcome to Windows 7 Forums.

You could try a System Recovery. Open Control Panel & select Recovery & see if there is a Recovery Point that you can use, that precedes your current problem.
If that works then just install the updates that will probably show up as being needed, one at a time. Restart your computer after each one & if you find one that causes this problem, uninstall it & then hide it so it does not show up again.

Bonjour,
I'm having a workstation with Windows 7. I choose to language, Francais (Canada) and English (United-States) but, for whatever reason, English (Canada) keeps poping in in the language bar even though I did not select it, further, it sits as the default keyboard.....

I have not choosen said language and when I go into the Regional parameteres, that keyboard is not selected either. It is only in the language bar and can't be remove. Any idea as to why this keyboard keeps poping in and how can I delete it once and for all?

Thanks

I have just changed my windows 7 Pro OS from French to English by installing the English MUI, however when I try to use the Help files they are still in French. Has anybody had a similar issue, & found a way to change them to English.

A:Changed OS language, but Help still in old language

Windows 7 MUIs are only supported by Enterprise and Ultimate versions. Don't believe we can help you due to forum rules, unless a mod/admin gives it a green light.

I have a computer where the DHCP service will not start due to a missing dependent service.  I did some digging and found that the NetBT.sys file was missing, as well as the related Registry keys and the NetBIOS over TCP/IP service in Device Manager.
I tried copying the NetBT.sys file over from a known good XP SP3 machine, but before I went any further, I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything.  Can someone offer some suggestions to fix this without having to reload XP?

Thanks,
Phil

A:NetBT.sys missing, registry entries missing, and NetBIOS over TCP/IP service missing from Device Manager

For what it is worth, I pulled the netbt.sys file from a known good machine and putting it into the %Windows%\system32\drivers folder, then imported the registry keys for NetBT from the same machine.  Rebooted the computer and the "NetBIOS over TCP
IP" driver showed up in Device manager under "Non Plug-and-Play Devices".  It showed that it was started, and verified that the DHCP client server was started as well.  Everything was in good working order at that point.  Here are the registry

Hi I am about to purchase an asus laptop in Germany with Windows HP on Now I know I can t change the system language need windows ultimate for that but I believe on Asus computers you can select English as the display language on the initial install so each shop is telling me and so i have read which i don t really understand as why can you do this on ASus laptops only - surely windows is windows ie you can or you can t If this is true i was wondering just what will be changed into English i e what exactly is the display language I gather the majority of menus etc will be in English but what about if my laptop goes wrong and I have to start digging a bit deeper Does anyone know if all the settings menus change so i ll be able toedit the registry if need be just an example Also what if i buy some third party software Will that install in English or German Thanks "display differ? does language" and How "system language" Rich nbsp

A:How does "display language" and "system language" differ?

To be on the safe side if you wish, contact ASUS Headquarters or ask the shop where you are buying it from to guarantee you that.

But if it is like here in Canada where the 2 Official languages are English and French, when you buy a Laptop from some vendors like Toshiba, HP and a few others, you have a choice when you first Boot up your Laptop to choose which Language you want to Install "E or F" and once you have made your choice you can not go back.
And from there on, everything thing is in The Language you Choose.

Hope this helps...
Good luck
Ray

Hello I am not a programmer but have written a lot of programs in my life time using Pascal C Delphi and a complete accounts receivable program in Pal Paradox application language but this was over years ago I have built several simple web sites but now I am trying to build a password protected web site that will allow a user to log in and then have a form to send information back to me by e-mail I have all the pages and forms built in Dreamweaver and HTML and have all the fields validated by learning a little about Javascript I have been able to get mailto to open outlook and receive one line of the form data but no more I have about fields that I need sent back Best this? Language for I know that this is not a very secure way of doing this but its not a high security money transaction site I am using Windows and am only a single user not on a server system I don t know anything about Unix or Linux OS s I also need something that hopefully is low budget don t mind buying a book or something if I need to Do I need PHP Ajax CGI Perl or what other language do you recommend nbsp

A:Best Language for this?

You can do this pretty easily with PHP. If there are many users I'd recommend putting their user names in a MySQL database, but if there are only a couple you can save time by hardcoding them into the script with a simple if statement. You said you validated the forms using javascript - do you mean you use JS to log people in? You have to remember that it's a client-side language and so can be seen and manipulated by the user (and so is not secure in any way). To make it even remotely secure you need to validate it server-side. For mailing, I would avoid using the mailto: command, because it only works on some platforms and some people (including me) don't use Outlook. Instead, use the PHP mail() command and an HTML form. This is simple to use:

bool mail($to, $subject, $message, [addtional headers]).

There are plenty of free tutorials on the web for PHP, but if you want to buy a book, I found (and still find) PHP and MySQL for Dummies very useful. Also see www.php.net for the complete documentation.

Hola can anyone please advice me on wich language to choose between c++ or visual basics.Tho vb seems easier i was wondering wich would be the best and where to get tutorials for beginners?

A:Which language

I personally prefer C++. It is much more powerful than Visual Basic (to my knowledge) and it allows for a bit more flexibility. Although it can be a little more difficult to learn, it is a great language. Basically, anything you want to do in Visual Basic you can do in c++, but it would be a bit easier in Visual Basic because of the drag-and-drop interface, but I still prefer C++...there are a lot of things that can be done with it.

I am not sure if you are using a compiler for the language you are working with (such as MS Visual Basic or MS Visual C++). If not and you decide to work with C++, there is a good free compiler (very good) called Dev-C++. It works wonderfully, and I personally like it more than Visual C++...just out of preference.

As for some tutorials here are a few links...I've been using them myself...but they take a bit of study...(I am still not an advanced C++ programmer, but I would be more than happy to help you if you would need any advice or anything.)

Hi rics23

I've never worked with different languages but until someone else answers try looking at your config.sys and autoexec.bat files for the country= or keyb commands and try putting rem in front of them. Then save the changes, reboot and see what happens. Thats what my old dos book says. Does the print change when you use a boot disk to get to DOS or is this only from a MSDOS prompt in windows?

Yes there is. Google has a nice little feature. If you put the url into the Google search box and hit search, the first and probably only search result will have a link beside it called something like 'Translate this site' Click on that link. With dial up it takes a minute or so longer to load the page but it is well worth it.

A:Which language for this need?

Hi 617sjweab,

Welcome to TSG !

Without hesitation, I recommand you Java for the following reasons :

- you won't pay one buck to have a decent application running : the Java Runtime (JRE) is free, the Java Development Kit (JDK) is free, most excellent IDE's like Eclipse and NetBeans (my favourite one) are free, most of the useful API's are free;
- the Java basics are not that tricky to learn : if you have a good knowledge of object-oriented programming concepts, Java is 'piece of cake';
- Java is multi-platform, you may start your coding on a Red Hat and end it on a Vista;
- as Java is popular, there're a lot of forums where you may find assistance if you meet some problems;
- finally, I'm here to help you !

Here're some interesting links :
- Tutorials : http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/ , http://academicjava.com/ (a lot of examples)
- An online downloadable memento : http://www.leepoint.net/notes-java/index.html (very useful)

The useful links you need for the application you want :
- Javamail ( the API to send and to get mails ) : http://www.icegreen.com/greenmail/
- Java Sound Resources : http://www.jsresources.org/examples/

For some reason my system language is not English. The weird thing is that only system processes are in a funky language. My documents, some tabs in properties, etc, are all in English. Whenever I try to download something, I cannot even read it. My system says it is in English, but obviously not. I am not sure how to explain this, but it is a big problem not being able to read information.

I really need some help...hopefully this all makes sense.

Here is a picture of my desktop, hopefully this can help:

P.S. - My system is really xp in that picture, i just have a skin that kinda looks like vista.

Thanks to anyone that can help!

SorryYou can not upgrade or do a repair install from one language version to another without doing a clean install. I'm afraid that if you want to change the language, you'll have to get Windows 7 Ultimate to get the language packs. Of course this is as far as I know, but I'm guessing this is the only way :/

Use Cortana in Windows 10 and search for Add a language and it should be at the top of the list.

Or type in Language to go to the control panel.

I am a new member here and I want to state that I know very little about computers. I am also 72 years old and a little slow at understanding computer terms.

Two weeks ago my computer was upgraded to Windows 7 and so far, so good.

Now to my question.

I turned off my language bar by mistake and I do not know how to turn
it back on.

I installed a German keyboard and I had an icon on the task bar. It
let me switch between the English and the German keyboard. By mistake
I turned the thing off. The icon is gone. I want it back, but I do not
know how to get it back.

I checked under Region and Languages in the Control Panel and the
keyboard is still there. There is nothing to tell me how to get the
icon back into the task bar.

Can someone please help me?

Frustrated,
Inge

what can I do?

Hello, this is my first post here, its a seemingly trivial question, but i can't seem to be able to solve it myself.

Description:
I have recently bought a new computer from acer with vista and it came with a posiblility to upgrade to win7 (http://www.acer.com/windows7upgrade), but i have a slight problem.
I need to specify which language vista is installed inn or it won't work, i figured it would be norwegian (as i am from norway), but allmost all the menus are in english as well as everything in the start menu ("Computer" instead of "Datamaskin" etc...).

Question:
I was wondering if there is an easy way to figure out which language the OS is installed in.
