Preferred Solution: random freeze ups, black screens(no pointer displayed), delayed write failed errors

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

From http://www.aumha.org/a/stop.htm:0x000000F4: CRITICAL_OBJECT_TERMINATIONOne of the many processes or threads crucial to system operation has unexpectedly exited or been terminated. As a result, the system can no longer function. Specific causes are many, and often best resolved by a careful history of the problem and the circumstances of the error message. My guess (nothing but) would be that your hard drive is failing, but put no reliance on that.Since it seems that your system still boots...I suggest booting into XP and taking a look at two things: a. Do a search for any .dmp files which were generated. These usually reflect the detail of various BSODs/STOP errors.Start/Search...type *.dmp as the search name...you want to search all files, including system/hidden files. b. Do a review of Event Viewer, looking only for errors. If you see any errors indicating a problem with a drive or disk, post the content in your next post. How To Use Event Viewer - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/40108/how-to-use-event-viewer/ Louis

Check the drives for errors as instructed in the link above^. This may take a few hours depending on the size of the drive. If this fails then we will resort to other options. After doing some research, it seems as if this error occurs a lot in XP.

Hello everyone! I got a problem with my new computer. I got random black screen then reboot/freeze error code 0x0000116. All my drivers are up to date, my bios too.
Here are my dump file and my dxdiag. Thank you for your time! ^^

PS: My components temperature never goes higher then 50 degree even at full use!
PS2: I compressed my .dmp file since I couldn't send it otherwise, so no worry.

Well what you need to do is get a copy of Diskeeper. Go to www.diskeeper.com and get a trial version. Then you open that up, and analize the drive your having trouble with. Soon you can go into your options and run a program in there called Frag Shield or something like that. That will change your MTF size to a proper size (Cheoose Recommended settings) and the problems will go away. I had the same thing happen to my old 250 GB drive. But that should take care of everything.

I keep getting this error on the my scren that pops up in the lower corner near the clock, telling me, "Windows - Delayed Write Failed" and everytime it happens, its a different file that failed the write to the HDD.

Anyone know why this error is occuring? Is my Hard Drive failing, or could it be my power supply is getting weak?

I've synched my iPod with my iTunes several times before. However, now the synchronization does not complete; it stops half-way. 2 error messages come up and my iPod freezes.

A window pops up and says: The iPod cannot be synchronized. The required file cannot be found.

The other message comes up at the bottom right hand of my screen, it says:

Windows -delayed write failed
Windows was unable to save all the data for the file F:\iPod_Control\Artwork\F1016_1.ithmb. The data has been lost. This error may be caused by a failure of your computet hardware or network connection. Please try to save this file elsewhere.

Things I have done since but still receiving above messages:
1. Reset my iPod cos it freezes half-way through synchronization
2. Restored my iPod
3. Restored laptop to various earlier dates
4. Uninstalled iTunes and re-installed latest 7.1.1 version

Frustration!

Somebody, please help! Thanks so much.

Sounds like a problem with the iPod itself. I'm not sure how this shows up in Device Manager or even what options may be available (it will appear as a drive at least), but you may find an option there to turn off caching on the drive. It may be couched in different terms, such as "Optimize for quick removal". You could try that, but I think the iPod may need the repair shop.

Hi There: I received a few dozen "Delayed Write Failed" messages just yesterday and have been unable to get my computer to boot regularly without a barrage of the same messages locking up the machine. Finally was able to boot in safe mode this morning, although the suspect machine is currently not connected to the internet.

First question: Can I download DeFrogger, DDS, and GMER to a flash drive from a clean machine and then load them onto the problem PC in safe mode to generate the logs you'll need? Sorry if this is an especially naive question.

Many thanks for your time!

-Brandon

For the past day or so I've been getting the following error message:

Windows - Delayed Write Failed
Windows was unable to save all the data for the file D:\$Mft. The data has been lost. This error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection. Please try to save this file elsewhere.

I've poked around some help sites and, judging from that, it seems likely that my hard drive itself may be going downhill. I'm curious if that's actually the case or if there's a fix that won't require me to buy a new drive.

Anyhow, I'm not particularly good with computers, so any help you guys can offer would be much appreciated.

A:Delayed Write Failed

This depends on what drive D:\ is on your PC. Open My Computer and if it is a CD or DVD drive or possibly a memory stick or card you should leave the media in place for a lot longer that you are doing.
If D:\ is a hard drive it might be dying so make sure you have a backup of the contents before checking it - download the manufacturer diags and run them.

I have done some searching, and I believe I have the same issue as boss123 in:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic424906.html

I also see that Lucy Lune had a similar issue at:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic441336.html/page__p__2612573__hl__delayed+write+failed__fromsearch__1#entry2612573

Everything on my desktop is gone and I have zero functionality.

There are three users/profiles on the computer, and in regular mode, they are all basically frozen/shut down/inoperable.

The window saying "Windows-Delayed Write failed. Failed to save all the components for the file \\System32\\00005455. The file is corrupted"
pops up over and over.

I am able to use one in Safemode with Networking.

Before I did anything, I wanted to get with the experts here (you have helped me before) and make sure I do it correctly.

Please tell me what you need as far as logs!

Thanks a lot!

Hello,Not sure why you posted a Hijackthislog though, since your problem is nothing malware related. The only info I get from you here is: Does any of this lead to delayed write failed? So this could be anything. Please read next articles for the causes and solutions:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/330174http://searchwinit.techtarget.com/tip/0,28...1041334,00.htmlhttp://bermangraphics.com/problems/delayedwritefailure.htmIn anyway, since this is mainly caused by hardware issues, it's better to post your problem in the Hardware part of this forum here:http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/f/7/internal-hardware/Don't post a Hijackthislog there, just tell exactly what problem you are having and when exactly this error appears.

Hello,

After I installed a 200G additional drive, I'm getting, on-and-off, this message: Windows - Delayed Write Failed and it points to various files, all on the C drive.

Both my hard drives are now going through a new IDE card, since I could not get over the 120G hump. I'm running XP Home SP2.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

When my wife was booking a flight on Southwest Airlines last week, our computer was infected with a virus. When I googled "delayed-write -failed", a found a post (below)

which described my problem quite accurately. I run Windows 7 however, whereas this post writer ran Windows XP. I am not as computer literate as the post writer, so I am concerned I may get confused following yourf directions, but I must try.

Hello and Welcome to Bleeping Computer!!My name is Gringo and I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems. I have put together somethings for you to keep in mind while I am helping you to make things go easier and faster for both of us1.Do not run any other tool untill instructed to do so!doing so will only at best cause you unneeded worry as it finds our backups and may even list our toolsand at worst can cause conficts with our tools and lead to unforseen things to happen2.Please Do not Attach logs or put in code boxes.besides the time it takes me to open the reports it makes it harder to find something if I need to go back to do more research and putting them in code boxes just makes them so hard to read3. After each step give me a little feedback It does not need to be long but just something so I know how things are going it can be something likeI am still getting redirected The computer is running as it shouldDon't put things like - it is the same as before or still the same this just makes me go back and look for you last feedback as to how things are4. read every post completely before doing anythingPay special attention to the Notes** I have put inThese are things I have found that happen allot and can be taken care of easily just by reading the Notes**Click on the Watch Topic Button and select Immediate Notification and click on proceed, this will help you to get notified faster when I have replied and make the cleaning process faster.Backup any files that cannot be replacedIf you have not done it yet spend a few minutes to backup any files that cannot be replaced. Removing malware can be unpredictable and this may save you and me allot of grief later. You can put them on a CD/DVD, external drive or a pen drive, anywhere except on the computer.you may want to backup the whole harddrive there is some good info in the Preparation Guide on how to make full backups and how to restore it back if something goes wrong. Read the tutorial and print it out so you will know what to do in case the unforeseen happens. When you have the files backed up you may do the following. Please print out or make a copy in notpad of any instructions given, as sometimes it is necessary to go offline and you will lose access to them.:multiple Anti Virus programs: It looks like you are operating your computer with multiple Anti Virus programs running in memory at once: <insert av's> Anti-virus programs take up an enormous amount of your computer's resources when they are actively scanning your computer. Having two anti-virus programs running at the same time can cause your computer to run very slow, become unstable and even, in rare cases, crash. Please remove all but one of them.Run Combofix:You may be asked to install or update the Recovery Console (Win XP Only) if this happens please allow it to do so (you will need to be connected to the internet for this)Before you run Combofix I will need you to turn off any security software you have running, If you do not know how to do this you can find out >here< or >here<Combofix may need to reboot your computer more than once to do its job this is normal. You can download Combofix from one of these links.Link 1Link 2Link 3 1. Close any open browsers or any other programs that are open.2. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts. When finished, it will produce a report for you. Note 1: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stallNote 2: If you recieve an error "Illegal operation attempted on a registery key that has been marked for deletion." Please restart the computer"information and logs"In your next post I need the following

Hello,
I began receiving error messages like "WIndows was unable to save all the data for the file /Device/HarddiskVolume2/$Mft The data has been lost. This error may be caused bya failure of your computer hardware or network connection. .."
After a week of this I was unable to even start the computer. The computer would search for the boot record and would give the error message that the harddrive was not ready and please insert a boot diskette. THe boot diskette was no help because I would get the error message that NTLDR was missing.
So, I pulled out the hardrive that had the operating system installed, put in a brand new harddrive (and new bus) and re-installed WIndows.
The same message appeared a couple of days later and the same problem with booting.
Could it be the motherboard?
Thanks

A:WIn2000 Delayed Write Failed

It could be the controller going bad on the motherboard. I have seen this happen once before and I had to install a new adapter card. Every so often, it would kill my server. I would reinstall, and a few weeks later, it would crash again.

I think what happens is that it is having problems writing back to the drive, and sometimes it does it at the wrong time and causes a major error on the system.

How old is your PC? How big is the HD? How much space is remaining on it? How big is the file you are saving? What is the G: drive - are you saying your HD is partitioned? Or is it another drive altogether? if partitioned, how much space is left in each partition? (as in need more info!)

every time I try to drag and drop files into my HDD, i get a balloon message saying "Windows Delayed Write Failed for G:" etc etc. i use my external as a dungeon for keeping my music, so iTunes reads off of my external just fine. every time i try to drag or export files into the HDD (500GB iomega), the external is rendered useless unless i replug it back in.

i've tried a few quick fixes.

has no effect. any ideas?

A:Windows Delayed Write Failed for my HDD

It's possible that the disk is failing. Make sure that all your files are backed up (as usual - all hard drives will fail).

The fact that the cache settings are not even available is worrying. Setting the drive for "quick removal" would stop the cache from being used and possibly stop the write failure errors.

Check the drive with HDTune using the error scanner (Uncheck "quick") and pay special attention to its SMART (Self-Monitoring And Reporting Technology) status. The drive's internal monitor is the first to detect problems.

I own a Fantom Drives External Terabyte HD External Failed Delayed Write on USB and have been using it without a hitch for about or so months now Just recently it has been behaving strangely The drive sometimes randomly disconnects Afterwards more often than not it will reconnect You can hear the default Windows XP sounds for a disconnecting reconnecting USB device Along with this I notice a bubbled message coming from my taskbar warning me of a quot Delayed Write Failed quot in the drive It claims that it could not finish saving the data quot H Mft quot or quot H Extend quot Other times it will actually report data on the drive itself like MP files or photos as unable External HD Delayed Write Failed to be saved due to a corrupt device or network connection All this happens more frequently when I try to scan the drive For example if I try to load up the data from the drive into Windows Media Player LIbrary the quot Delayed Write Failed quot happens frequently with disconnects and reconnects of the drive itself I tried a few things to troubleshoot the problem First I tried powering down the drive and starting it back up This only seemed to work if the drive did not reconnect after it disconnected I also tried using Firewire instead of USB did not help I also tried using a different USB cable also did not help I tried running Chkdsk I tried using the traditional method of going to the properties of the Drive and selecting Tools and then Error-checking I selected both options but it would always tell me that the drive was being used by Windows and that I had to restart to perform a drive scan However every time I d reboot the scan would not commence upon startup I tried running Chkdsk in SafeMode In SafeMode the scan would commence immediately but would eventually say that the scan could not be completed I tried running the scan a few times after and it just reported the same error I then took the drive and tried it on another PC It works fine the data seems to be intact just as it was on My PC I then tried to run Chkdsk in the command prompt with the parameters f x r The scan would get to Phase and then hang on for several minutes Then after getting to a certain point it corrects an error in an index and then stops After this I d run the scan again and it would do the same thing stopping after seemingly correcting an error in an index sometimes two I have yet to see Chkdsk finish or even get to the point of scanning for bad sectors The data seems fine would this be a big indicator of a corrupting drive Or is it just that the indexes are screwed Purhaps backing up the data and reformatting the drive would help Are there any diagnostics I can find that can thoroughly scan my drive without it hanging up and stopping on each and every index error Fantom Drives doesn t seem to have any such diagnostic tools on their website I d appeciate any help you can give Thanks nbsp

A:External HD Delayed Write Failed

Is the drive supplied with its own external power source? If so, it sounds like the drive is losing power and turning itself off and on, which would explain the repeated disconnects/reconnects.

To see if the drive itself is functional, understand that all USB drives are going to be plain jane IDE or SATA drives inside the enclosure. You can remove the drive from the enclosure and plug it directly into a machine to see how the drive behaves there.

I'd suggest checking out the power supply as well as the internal power connection to see if it is loose, cracked, et cetera.

Hey so I was on my laptop and all of a sudden all these messages came up

Failed to save all the components for the file \\ system32\\00007289. The file is corrupted or unreadable. This error may be caused by a pc hardware problem.

Can anyone help me and tell me what this is and how to fix it thanks. I'm running windows 7 on a dell Inspiron

A:Windows - delayed write failed

First thing I would do is back up any data you cherish . . then run diagnostics on the hard drive by downloading the diagnostic tool for the hard drive brand and making a bootable disc.

Hard Drive Diagnostics Tools and Utilities (Storage) - TACKtech Corp.

See this for how to make a bootable cd:

A:WINDOWS - Delayed Write Failed

Well I fix the problem, but i have no idea what the problem was i just know it isn't my hard drive going bad. i did a system restore from a back up disk, complete fresh copy of XP. works great now fast again and no more pop up and write failer any more.

SO any one who has this error (WINDOWS - Delayed Write Failed Windows was unable to save all data for the file C:\$Mft ....)

restore back before u had this problem IF restore is no longer able to go back for you or that far back.

DO this if u have a restore disk use it, if not reinstall Windows

like i said before, no idea how to fix the error but it was not because of my hard drive was going bad!!!

ever thing works great just sucks that i have to reinstall a lot of my staff again.

I am using Home XP and trying to back up data from Quicken 2005 to a floppy in Drive A. It starts backing up, then its sounds like the hard drive is recycling over and over. After one or two minutes a yellow ballon pops up on a triangle caution sign in the tray at the bottom of the screen that says:

Windows-Delayed Write Failed

Windows was unable to save all the data from the file A:\QData\QB1. Your data has been lost. This failure may have been caused by computer failure or network connection. Please try to save this data elsewhere.

A minute or two later the program requests a second disc to continue data backup which when inserted it does complete quickly.

Any ideas?

A:Windows-Delayed Write Failed

Some possiblities turn up in this Google search, a couple of them with hotfixes available:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=Windows-Delayed+Write+Failed+site:microsoft.com&btnG=Search

Since you are saving to floppy disks, it probably has something to do with the disk limitation not being detected by the application software in a timely manner.

Do the following:StartControl PanelPerformance and MaintenaceAdmin ToolsEvent ViewerSystemHighlight a error then click properties, then click on the link below For more information, see Help and Support Center as this may give you information on how to solve the error. It may be your hdd is faulty, run the hdd manufacturers diagnositc utility on the drive.HDD Regenerator try running this tool on the drive it will give you a indication of whether the drive can be recovered. I've recovered drives with bad sectors by doing a complete zero wipe.A delayed write failure isn't too good and normal indicates a major problem esp when it's your C drive.

A:Windows delayed write failed

Hi,

For this error, we would need much more information. For example, what motherboard, what hard drive are you writing to (like brand, size, etc), which version of XP, etc?

Did you format the drive first, did you partition it, are you using 80 connector cables or the old 40 connector cables? What are your jumper settings, where is the drive placed on the cable.

If your go to device manager (start, control Panel, system, hardware, device manager) and click on the IDE/ATA controller area to open it.up, and then double click on the ATA storage controller. Go to Driver and see what the date of the driver is. If it is before June of 2001, then go to the mfg's web site for your card and get their XP driver and that might solve your problem. Another thing you can do here is troubleshoot to see why you are having the problem.

Those are the steps I would take if I were you. Might be a shot in the dark, but with the needed information and you trying a few things, we might get lucky.

Hi everyone. I've noticed this two times today when trying to do things.

1) When rendering video earlier, it said this and the file, almost rendered was corrupted.

2) When recording audio. At about 19 or 20 minutes in, it just popped up that message and stopped recording.

The hard drive has several gigs free space, and is only a couple months old. The full error is:

Windows - Delayed Write Failed

Windows was unable to save all the data for the file C:\Documents and Settings\Mark\Local Settings\Temp\audacity_1_2_temp\b00417.au. The data has been lost. This error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection.

I just wrote down one of the errors, the others were the same, except saying the file they couldn't write.

Thanks

That means that the write buffer wasn't written. Check your data.
I would also run a CHKDSK against that disk to check it for errors. The manufacturers utility for it will also report any problems.

Hello and Welcome to Bleeping Computer!!My name is Gringo and I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems. I have put together somethings for you to keep in mind while I am helping you to make things go easier and faster for both of usPlease do not run any tools unless instructed to do so.
We ask you to run different tools in a specific order to ensure the malware is completely removed from your machine, and running any additional tools may detect false positives, interfere with our tools, or cause unforeseen damage or system instability. Please do not attach logs or use code boxes, just copy and paste the text.
Due to the high volume of logs we receive it helps to receive everything in the same format, and code boxes make the logs very difficult to read. Also, attachments require us to download and open the reports when it is easier to just read the reports in your post. Please read every post completely before doing anything.
Pay special attention to the NOTE: lines, these entries identify an individual issue or important step in the cleanup process. Please provide feedback about your experience as we go.
A short statement describing how the computer is working helps us understand where to go next, for example: I am still getting redirected, the computer is running normally, etc. Please do not describe the computer as "the same", this requires the extra step of looking back at your previous post.NOTE: At the top of your post, click on the Watch Topic Button, select Immediate Notification, and click on Proceed. This will send you an e-mail as soon as I reply to your topic, allowing us to resolve the issue faster. NOTE: Backup any files that cannot be replaced. Removing malware can be unpredictable and this step can save a lot of hartaches if things don't go as planed. You can put them on a CD/DVD, external drive or a pen drive, anywhere except on the computer. NOTE: It is good practice to copy and paste the instructions into notepad and print them in case it is necessary for you to go offline during the cleanup process. To open notepad, navigate to Start Menu > All Programs > Accessories > Notepad. Please remember to copy the entire post so you do not miss any instructions.Run Combofix:You may be asked to install or update the Recovery Console (Win XP Only) if this happens please allow it to do so (you will need to be connected to the internet for this)Before you run Combofix I will need you to turn off any security software you have running, If you do not know how to do this you can find out >here< or >here<Combofix may need to reboot your computer more than once to do its job this is normal. You can download Combofix from one of these links.Link 1Link 2Link 3 1. Up until recently last night my Dell inspiron with windows 7 has started with out a hitch. Now every time i turn it on dozens of pop ups start all saying (Windows- Delayed Write Failed) Failed to save all the components for the file \System32\0000390c. The file may be corrupted or unreadable. This error may be caused by PC hardware problems. Or other massages similar to it. I have tried looking online for similar problems and found some have been fixed by system restore. Just to my luck i have no save points until 10 minutes ago which was after the problem started. I am now stumped and would really appreciate any advice at all, Thank you.

A:Windows Delayed Write Failed

You MAY be using the wrong method.

Doesn't MSI Mega Player have a utility (like iTunes) for use with the player?

IF it does, use the utility to import mp3 files.

Also, I note that some mp3 sites download a file that is NOT actually a whatever.mp3 file. The file looks like text with garbage, and you rename the file to song-name.mp3.

I'm receiving the message "Windows Delayed Write Failed " when exporting a excel spreadsheet to a SharePoint site. It happens on multiple PC and is not a hardware problem. Has anyone seen something like this?

A:Windows – Delayed Write Failed

Well, it could be any of a number of things, none necessarily related to SharePoint.
I would suggest you read these links, even though some may not seem related, I think the problem is a fairly basic one having to do with write caching.

Hello there First post on this website actually registered after surfing around looking for a fix to this problem as trying to solve it myself left me cold and unsatisfied Anyways here we go The issue itself is a - second approx quot lockup quot where my computer becomes unresponsive though not in the traditional manner It will still let me navigate through certain directories files ect but not all and never the program I was using when the quot lockup quot began When it starts I get an error either in the big red and scary quot WINDOWS HAS ENCOUNTERED AN ERROR quot window or the nice much more subtle yellow bubble Calmly alerting me that my computer is having issues and to please fix the problem The message which appears to be the same Windows Failed Delayed - Write in both windows is as follows quot Windows - Delayed Write Windows - Delayed Write Failed Failed Windows was unable to save all the data for the file C WINDOWS system gfgjl ini The data has been lost This error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection Please try to save this file elsewhere quot There was a post that I noticed which was very similar to this subject somewhere else in the forums though it was relating to a laptop with physical damage by a fomorian with the title of quot I think it s the hard drive quot in which his solution was that he had to flat-out purchase a new replace the HDD He did not post the full message so far as I saw so I would like to be sure and get an answer pertaining to me specifically Thank you for reading hope to hear some advice soon Edit Sorry I should have mentioned that I am currently on a machine running with Windows XP PRO SP I have also run the recovery module via the initial set up disc which brought me to little avail Ran the quot chkdsk quot command where it said that the drive had not one but multiple quot unrecoverable quot errors Not looking food for me nbsp

A:Windows - Delayed Write Failed

try this here..
or this here

as for the errors running chkdsk...it should look like this...chkdsk c: /f
you need to run it with the /f option..
Chkdsk corrects disk errors only if you specify the /f command-line option. Chkdsk must be able to lock the drive to correct errors. Because repairs usually change a disk's file allocation table and sometimes cause a loss of data, chkdsk sends a confirmation message similar to the following:

10 lost allocation units found in 3 chains.

Convert lost chains to files?

If you press Y, Windows saves each lost chain in the root directory as a file with a name in the format Filennnn.chk. When chkdsk finishes, you can check these files to see if they contain any data you need. If you press N, Windows fixes the disk, but it does not save the contents of the lost allocation units.

If you do not use the /f command-line option, chkdsk sends a message if a file needs to be fixed, but it does not fix any errors.

If you use chkdsk /f on a very large disk (for example, 70 gigabytes) or a disk with a very large number of files (for example, millions of files), chkdsk might take a long time (for example, over several days) to complete. The computer is not available during this time because chkdsk does not relinquish control until it is finished.

Yesterday my HP laptop stopped all applications and started spewing error messages stating quot Delayed Write Failed Failed to save all the components for the file System d The file Failed, no Write Delayed internet connection is corrupted or unreadable This error may be caused by a PC hardware problem quot After these messages stopped popping up I went into my documents folder and everything was gone - programs files even my internet browser has disappeared Oddly enough Windows Live Messenger is the ONLY program that still Delayed Write Failed, no internet connection functions I m running Windows and the Windows system check scanned my computer automatically after Delayed Write Failed, no internet connection this originally occurred It says Delayed Write Failed, no internet connection that drive C is unreadable RAM memory speed decreased significantly and may cause a system failure Hard drive does not correspond to system requests Damaged hard drive clusters detected and private data is at risk Hard drive rotational speed exceeds system limits and may cause a system failure Boot sector of the hard drive is damaged Hard drive space less than technical limits and this one made me laugh RAM exceeds temperature limits at degrees Celsius I ve read other posts here regarding similar issues but because I don t have access to the internet on the damaged laptop I can t use the methods prescribed Any ideas on what I should do

Can anyone identify the cause of this error? It doesn't appear that anything is being done to cause it. It just started to appear within the last few days.

"Windows was unable to save all the data for the file \$Directory. The data has been lost. This error may caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection. Please try to save this file elsewhere".

Please help...

This usually means your Hard Drive is failing. Backup data immediately, and make a boot disc for the Hard Drive Diagnostic for the hard drive manufacturer and run the tests. http://www.techsupportforum.com/f234...es-302602.html

You are not alone - there are a few suggestions in this thread; http://forums.seagate.com/stx/board/...sage.uid=26352

If you decide to try and get the data off it by connecting it internally, even temporarilly, you will need an adapter; an example; http://www.newertech.com/products/usb2_adaptv2.php

I'm using a Seagate gb drive attached through SATA for backing up files and a number of installed apps not containing Delayed Write Failed Sudden error any OS The drive is a number of years old and I have never had any problems with it until now All of a sudden after no significant Sudden Delayed Write Failed error changes to the drive or setup a few days ago I started getting this error popping up from the start menu Delayed Write Failed Windows was unable to save all data for the file D mtf D mtf is displayed at first and if anything is attempted to be accessed afterwards it shows that file instead I have looked all around the net for a solution but this seems to be slightly different Different because whenever I restart I do not normally get the error on startup and can access the drive fine for quite a while I can sometimes go hours without getting the error It seems to happen randomly copying files to the drive or deleting files seems to have nothing to do with the timing of the error tho I have gotten the error directly on startup restarting once more fixes it My Via RAID Tool will also say the drive is disconnected each time Now after restarting a number of times since the problem started I have realized that if I leave the computer on for anywhere from min to hours after getting the error I will get another message from the Via RAID Tool saying the drive was plugged back in and I have no problem accessing it again I find it strange that if this is a real problem with the hardware pins or anything similar that it would not happen at all times Also the fact that it somehow begins working again just as randomly as the error occurs is beyond me Can anyone think of some option having to do with the drive that may need to be changed Or any possible solution to this It did not start happening after I started doing anything in specific such as using it for application installations going low on space or hardware changes The drive has had terabytes of data juggled on and off of it over the years at quite a stressful rate I would think could it just be dieing Any help would be greatly appreciated System specs AMD GeForce Ultra GB Raptor WD SATA internal main drive GB SG SATA internal nd GB WD USB external rd GB Ram

Hi everyone
I have a 8GB micro SD card for my cell phone. It was working all fine till few days ago a friend of mine took it for transferring songs to his desktop and then i put it again in cell and i didn't check on it's data.
Two days ago i opened card in cell phone,it was showing all files but with changed names of them (as mp3 have an ID tag and a name) but when i clicked on file to run,it said that file is not loading and it's same for every file.

I tried connecting with Micro SD card reader with PC and formatting it,when i connect with PC,my computer panel freezes and doesn't do anything then i remove the card from reader and after few seconds it says "Delayed write failed" error.
I don't know how to format it, it's completely not working. Please help me out.

A:Problems with RAID and getting Delayed Write Failed

I suggest going into your BIOS...and seeing if the RAID is enabled. It must be, if the RAID controller is reflected in Device Manager, IMO. Users generally have two options for disabling onboard devices...either in the BIOS (better method, device is not reflected in Device Manager, no drivers need to be installed) or in Device Manager (DM will reflect device and flag it as requiring drivers, if such have not been installed). If your BIOS/CMOS settings without any manual intervention...that might be a sign of a failing CMOS battery. In such case, I would replace it.CMOS Battery Replacement - http://www.liverepair.com/encyclopedia/art...cmosreplace.asp Louis

A:Windows Delayed Write Failed virus

This is not a bump; I can't edit my original post--1/1/12 -- Searching around for a way to get online (I'm tenacious!) I came across others having trouble with McAfee. I haven't been using it, but it was still on the machine (pre-loaded). So I uninstalled, and right away, as in immediately, my MSN Messenger came online . Opened Firefox and bam, here I am!I'd still like my logs looked at, to see if there is anything I need to attend to?Thank you

A friend came to me in a panic. He booted his PC up and tells me all his files are gone. So I booted the PC and the first thing that happens is that about 20+ windows cascade with "WINDOWS - DELAYED WRITE FAILED) messages. Each stating a file is corrupt.

After a few minutes, a window appears with a heading of "SYSTEM RESTORE" (Performance Stability analysis). It lists the following:
14 errors! My Computer (4) System Drive (4) RAM Memory (3) System Registry (3)

After a few more minutes another message appears:
Windows OS can't detect free hard drive space. Hard Drive Error

When I try to select the START button, there are no programs showing.
Finally, another window shows up: "Files indexation process failed".

I'm sure this is some kind of virus, but don't want to go any further without guidance. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

I am getting this message when I turn off my external drive.
Windows was unable to save all the data for the file F:\$Mft. The data has been lost. This error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection. Please try to save this file elsewhere.

I don't know what file they are talking about. I can view all the files on the hard drive, they are all pictures. Nothing has been lost. I turned off the hard drive and turned it back on and I could still access all the pictures but I still get that message. What does it mean?

A:Solved: Windows - Delayed write failed

If you Post a question, it is generally good form to post the solution if you find it yourself, and then CLOSE the item as solved.

If you use the "safely remove hardware" icon before shutting off the drive this won't happen.

I was getting delayed write errors every time I started Windows Pro XP1. I have visited many online resources to recitfy this issue. Anyway, I had shut off write caching to the HD and modified the system registry...etc....with no success. I started to take out the CD-R drive from the computer so that I could make a boot CD and try a system recovery when I found another CD lodged in between the CD-ROM casing and the computer casing itself. I removed this CD and put the computer back together. Now when I boot up I am no longer getting any delayed write failures. I have seen that device drivers and USB can cause this as well as hard drive errors and incompatibility issues, but does anyone know if this CD could have actually caused this error?? I am beside myself trying to figure out how it could have possibly caused this....Any ideas???

A:Windows XP SP1 Delayed Write Failed Error

Bad drive, probably.

Free Hard Drive Testing Applications:
HD Tune
CheckDisk 1.03 (Marks bad sectors as unusable.)
HDAT2 (Diagnostics and bad sector recovery)
MHDD Low-level Diagnostics
Bootable Hitachi Drive Fitness Test Floppy or CD Image (works on most drives)

Hard Drive Manufacturers' Diagnostic Utilities Links:
TachTech
BleepingComputer

But could be memory:

MemScope (Floppy and CD images.)
Microsoft Memory Test (floppy or CD ISO image)
Memtest86

I have a message that keeps poping up on my computer.  Can't get it to stop.  It says, "Windows-Delayed Write Failed"
Windows  was unable to save all the data for the file C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\LocalSettings\Application
Data\Avg2013\update\backup\incavi.avm.  The data has been lost.  This error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or netw
That is how it ends.  I am new to this site but I tried to search for the answer but for some reason, when I click on a similar thread, it sends me to a different question.  When I hit the back button, it just refreshes the same page.  Hope someone can help.  Thanks

Getting these delayed write errors again when moving or copying large files to my seagate external drive. I've tried everithing. Ran Seatools on both hard drives. Both pass tests. Is there a fix for this? I posted ablut this once, the problem appeared to solve itself. Now, it's doing it again. Any ideas what the culprit could be?

I've read a bit about this (but not too much recently) and I'm unsure what to do. I've just purchased a Toshiba 500GB 2.5'' External StorE Steel Black Hard Disk Drive. I've put some files on it (about 75gb worth), but when I disconnect the hard drive I get the Delayed Write Failed balloon pop up. The warning message only seems to appear after I've disconnected the hard drive. I've checked and double-checked and everything that I copied over is still on the external. Oddly, I still get the warning message even if I haven't copied anything over.

Please note that the forum is very busy and if I don't hear from you within three days this thread will be closed.

Before beginning the fix, read this post completely. If there's anything that you do not understand, kindly ask your questions before proceeding. Ensure that there aren't any opened browsers when you are carrying out the procedures below. You may want to print and/or save the following instructions in Notepad as this webpage will not be available when you're carrying out the fix.

It is IMPORTANT that you don't miss a step & perform everything in the correct order/sequence.

Please note that these fixes are not instantaneous. Most infections require more than one round to properly eradicate.

Please stay with me until given the 'all clear' even if symptoms seemingly abate.

Kindly follow my instructions and please do no fixing on your own or running of scanners unless requested by a helper.

**Read through these instructions in their entirety BEFORE executing them.** If you have any questions or are unsure about any of the following instructions PLEASE ASK for clarification before continuing. You may want to copy this page to notepad or print it as it will not be available while you run ComboFix.
Download ComboFix from one of these locations:

* IMPORTANT !!! Place combofix.exe on your Desktop
Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with ComboFix.

You can get help on disabling your protection programs here

Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.

Your desktop may go blank. This is normal. It will return when ComboFix is done. ComboFix may reboot your machine. This is normal.

When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply

Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ensure your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications are re-enabled.
