I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I recently got a HP Pavillion zd8000 which had Windows XP installed on it.

I installed windows 7 on it and had the graphics card problems where the screen wouldnt display anything.

I followed the directions for MObility Modder and the laptop worked fine.

Then a couple days ago, it would start up, show the login screen for about 5 seconds, then black out. i would hear the windows login noise but nothing would happen.

i experimented with it and found if i disconnected all power from the computer for about 10 seconds, then recconected it and started it up it would work

this is very annoying because i cant put the computer in sleep and would like to have it fixed

Whenever I get any unexplained problems I normally try a power shutdown then go to the AMD site (for mine) and download the chipset drivers.

Don't know if a similar procedure would work for you (?)

help please

can i adjust the fan speed in the bios on my zd8000

A:hp zd8000

Have you examined the BIOS setup screen to see if there's a setting that allows you to do that?

Why are you wanting to adjust the cooling fan speed anyway?

The cooling fan in a laptop automatically starts and runs and stops when needed to keep the internal components from overheating.

Am I able to hook up my PS2 (it's a newer one, right before they switched to the slim one) to this TV Tuner and not have any issues? I am using it to play DDR so that is why I ask. If it's some huge delay that would be an issue. I am using HP's laptop ZD8000 fully loaded and it came with an external DVR TV Tuner. I plan to just connect the red/white/yellow cables to the TV tuner and shouldn't have any problems getting it to work I wouldn't think. Thank you for any help.

Hey Guys!
I bought this laptop HP ZD8000 series (ZD8060) recently. I was told the graphics fan was not working. I figure, well, should be an easy fix. NOT!
The fan functions just fine. It cycles normally. I found out after researching that I should have not bought this thing.

Anyway, getting on with it.
I know it has an ATI X600 chipset.

Question 1: Has anyone ever repaired the chipset?
I heard about reballing, but would that fix it or is it just fried?
Question 2: Does anyone know the exact full part number for this model?

Hi to all, been a very very long time but here I am, asking for help again

Ok, problem is this, I am in the middle of swapping a pc for a laptop HP ZD8000, the problem is this. If the lappy is switched off and the power lead plugged in, it charges with no problem. If I switch the laptop on, the power adaptor 'trips' and the laptop switches to battery back up. If I pull the power lead and replace it, the adaptor will come back to life for a few seconds before tripping again,If I take out the battery and put the power adaptor in the laptop runs fine, nay ideas.

Running XP home, any more info needed ?

Thanks in advance

when i press the power button it starts up for about a second at max. it then wont do anything. i have to disconnect it from the psu and remove the battery, and replace both then the proses is repleted. it wont power up at all only on the psu. the battery charges for about 5 minutes then stops for 2 and starts for 5 and this repeats. if i leave it for it to do this about twice it lasts about 3 seconds. but if it is left to charge it only lasts about 1 again. i have try it with only the bare bones, removing, the screen, keyboard, touch pad, dvd-rw, as well as the ram, i have tested the CPU in my PC and works fine. i have also removed all the dust and the laptop is almost dust free.

any help? it will be much appreciated. and i will try to answer any questions too.

thanks a lot Matty.

Hi Dennin and welcome to the SevenForums!

Have you tried downloading the latest drivers? Other than that, there isn't so much what you can do. HP even warns your computer is not Vista-compatible, not to mention Windows 7.

With my HPZD8000  Laptop I have upgraded Windows XP to Windows 7 then to Windows 8 and finally to Windows 10.
All the upgrades worked but there is a problem with the the screen driver. The generic Microsoft screen driver is loaded with all the upgrades but it does not give the ability to resize the screen correctly and I cannot find an appropriate screen driver.
As a last resort I loaded Linux Mint which has the proper screen driver and now the grand kids can play their favourite windows games usine the wine eulation on the old laptop.

I have reason to believe that the AC adaptor used with my HP zd8227ea laptop may have been zapped during recent mains power supply outages.
In order to check it out I need to know the pin-out of the connector that plugs into the laptop. It appears to have four pins. I also need to know whether the output from the adaptor is pulsed or constant DC. Can anyone out there help.

The H-P part number of the adaptor is 374427-002 although on the label it says replace with 375117-001.

Also, can anyone help with a service manual for the laptop.
Many thanks.

Well...the first thing I would have suggested...would have been a clean install, assuming that this was a system formerly owned/used by someone else. The fact that you received a CD with SP2, while the system contained SP1...would have been my cue.In any case, I suggest contacting the seller of this system or doing a clean install. That way, you can more easily sort issues afterwards.XP Clean Install, Stevens - Louis

See if you can boot it without the battery.

If that doesn't work unplug the battery and power cable.

Then press and hold the power button for 45 seconds.

Replug in the power and battery to see if it will boot.

Hi sonbon,

Does the computer give out an error when your daughter tries to boot the computer to windows normally? Go to the safe mode menu again and this time, choose "Boot the computer to last known good configurations". See if this helps out at all. I would also recommend performing an In-Place Upgrade(Windows Repair) on the computer. You will definitely need your Windows 7 CD in order to perform this process. When was the last the computer was able to work successfully?

A:Need Help with HP Pavillion

Solved the problem myself. Opened the tower and changed the port that the SATA drive cable connected to. At least after doing that and restarting the computer I was able to get into BIOS. Showed no hard drive as being recognized. Went to HP's site and found that Seatgate had a problem with some of the hard drives (500, 700, etc.) After calling a technician with HP it was decided that the hard drive had failed (no indication of it failing-it just stopped!!!)

HP is sending a new hard drive and a recovery disk (the recovery partition was on the hard drive that failed. No cost. There was still 50 days left on the warranty.

I guess we were LUCKY!

Thanks for looking at my computer problem.

We get stuff dropped off all the time. Some good but mostly junk that seems to expensive for the customers budget to repair.
Well we took in a monitor today that starts up okay but then after
a few minutes it clicks off.I plug unplugged it from the ac adaptor and it comes back on for a few minutes and does the same thing.
Its an almost new flat panel.
I know its a break in circuitry somewhere.I thought it might be within the adapter at first but no the adapters is fine.
Anyone have any experience repairing these? They are
a fairly new product
and cost pretty much.If I can fix it I want to use it for my daughter at home.
Its one of the few things given for free worth not just putting in the parts pile.
Thanks ddc

A:HP Pavillion f1703

But - how do you know that it is a "break in the circuitry", for to actually know that there is info you have not told us?

I would have first assumed a fault in the electronics that is triggering the protective shutdown in the power section, which resets when it is repowered. So you would be fault finding for a component that is prone to an internal breakdown.

Not a trivial task, but one that I would certainly look at for the same reasons as you would. Probably not an economic repair from a commercial aspect though.

I am afraid to disable quickplay, I might not be able to start, any suggestion? I have re installed the entire system with the d: drive partition. Hello, my neighbour has a HP Pavillion g6 running Windows 8 and lately these days the computer has been crashing/rebooting and there appears some message with links to dump files. I have saved the .dmp file to a flash drive and attached it here.

I'm sorry but I cannot use the SF Diagnostic Tool because the computer is not with me at the moment and won't be with me for atleast 2 days, she's gonna be back with it somewhere at Thursday and I promised I'll ask for a solution on the net till then.

So if someone knowledgable from here can review the file and figure out what could be causing the problems that would be great.

Thanks in advance.

A:Crashing on a HP Pavillion g6

The lone memory dump blames NDProxy.SYS - a windows driver associated with networking. As such, it's possible that any network/Internet aware program can be causing this. Due to the info from the memory dumps, there is a possibility of a hardware problem, and a possibility that it may be with a USB device (but these are just guesses based on the data in the raw stack text - which may not even be signficant).

Please run Driver Verifier to attempt to force a BSOD with the offending driver's name. Please use this procedure: Driver Verifier Settings Let it BSOD 2 or 3 times, then generate the reports from the SF Diagnostic Tool and upload it with your next post.

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

Hi .

My initial impression...since they play in one program, it's probably a codecs issue. This may be complicated by the fact that this system has been insert/unused for 4 years and may be lacking various updates for the O/S which have been issued since then.

Since you have SP3 installed...I have to ask what version of WMP is installed...and have you installed any of the other noncritical updates pertaining to XP that might impact DVD play/WMP?

Hello All

Bought a new laptop online, windows 64bit pre installed (home premium) -

HP Pavillion dv6 3141ea, AMD Phenom II Quad-Core N930 Processor, 15.6" HD Screen, Windows 7 Home Premium Edition 64-bit, 6GB DDR3 RAM, 500GB HDD, DVD Rewriter, Dedicated ATI 5470 Graphics, Bluetooth, HDMI, Fingerprint Reader, XD499EA#ABU

- and I booted up, plugged in a memory stick and during the copy got a BSOD! Good start.

Got another the next day, the crash dumps appear different though. There were two red error events in the log at the exact same time as the two crashes, both just said "BugCheck" EventID=1001.

I've attached the requestedBSOD info and the two dumps separately.

Any pointers much appreciated.

This one caused a memoery exception. You Symantec and msn toolbar are to blaim.

I would remove symantec and replace with Microsoft security essentials.

Download and run the Norton Removal Tool to uninstall your Norton product | Norton Support
I would also run a system file check to verify and repair OS files

Run a system file check to verify and repair your system files.
To do this type cmd in search, then right click to run as administrator, then

Read here for more information SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Hi Frank and welcome

Thes point to pool_corruption (memory) probably caused by your Symantec.
I would remove symantec and replace with Microsoft Security Essentials

Download and run the Norton Removal Tool to uninstall your Norton product | Norton Support

I would also run a memory test just to be sure.

Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. - Memory Diagnostic

Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.

Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

I will post it after wards. The problem is my laptop was overheating then suddenly it switched off. I closed my laptop and waited for it to cool down. After 3-4 hours I tried to start the laptop again, it switched on and then it went blank. Since, then it did not switch on.Below given is the total info: - 1. The red blinking light on the keyboard works blinks once when I press the power button.2. The LED light beside the charger is working fine.3. I tried doing a hard reset but it did not work. Can you please help me as to what should be done now?

[email protected]_val, Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read your thread on your HP Pavilion g6 Notebook and overheating and shutting down. Here is a link to overheating, as this might be the cause of the shutting down. If the Notebook has dust on the fans it could be overheating.  If that does not help at the end of this document it shows you to do a Hardware Test.  The final thing you should try is to restore the BIOS to factory defaults. When my computer is turned off it does not start back up when it is turned back on.The fan comes on and the sceen shows some backlighting. The control alt delete command depowers the machine, as does the power button. This happened several times before.  After repetitive start attempts it staqrted up.The "hard start" proceedure does not start the macineOn the last start-up I recieved the message of an abnormal start-up on the previous start-up. I used the choice ot using the MS routine to troubleshoot and fix.  It went through the routine, reported problems fixed and staqrted up normally. When the computer was subsequently shut down it did not startv up, just the fan and the dim glow.

Anyone here have any HP notebook or let alone any notebook at all that when you go to put it to sleep if hangs for a while then goes to sleep but comes back out? any known fixes?

A:HP Pavillion DV4 problems

I have an HP Notebook!

Are you running Vista on it? I have never had it come back out of sleep..but I did have it hang when going into sleep..

I now have Windows 7 on it and I really want to say that it was Vista that was making it hang when I would put it to sleep..Because when I put it to sleep under Windows 7 it does it in about 4 seconds, and when I resume it comes on in 4 seconds.. VERY FAST..

Have you always had this issue when first you got your PC?

The first thing I would try is to check Device Manger and check you network make make sure they are not set to "wake the computer"To do that click on the Start button, and search for Device Manger
Look for you network adapters, Under the network adapters and right-click on the adapter.(If you have more than one adapter repeat steps 2 and 3)
Select Properties and find the tab Power Management and make sure that the check-box for "Allow device to wake Computer" is UNCHECKED
Hope this Helps..and Happy Holidays..

I am writing in regards to my HP Pavilion dv4000 which runs Windows XP (I'm not sure if there is more info needed). Anyway, I am writing because recently my computer started freezing some while I was typing, then freezing completely after 10 minutes or so. After another day or two, it would freeze in the middle of starting up (even in safe mode). I've tried doing a system restore but it freezes in the middle of this as well. Now it will make noises like it is starting up and the lights on the keyboard comes up, but the screen is black. I am not sure what is wrong. I read a post on here about the DVD drive causing a similar problem, but I don't know if that is the same thing or not. If anyone knows what may be causing this or what steps I can take to find out I would greatly appreciate it.

I have an HP Pavillion zd7000 laptop that runs on Windows XP. When I turn it on it starts to boot and then gets hung up saying "windows is starting up" but it doesn't! I've tried booting it in safe mode and looking around for the answer. Right now I'm defraging it, hoping that helps. I don't have a restore CD or a Windows XP CD, unfortunately! Any thoughts?

Do you see anything on the screen when you switch on? Any fan noise? It should start briefly then find the hard drive missing, as long as there is power(?)

was wondering if anyone could help me please, i installed windows 7 onto my laptop a while ago and as i don't use my CD-ROM very much i've only recently realised it no longer works, i've had a look under device management and 'coprocessor' has a yellow triangle by it and ! mark ?

I'm really useless when it comes to technology but was wondering if anyone could help me in finding out how to fix this problem please?

i've tried to update driver software but that does not work, and states windows could not find driver software for your device

and underneath properties it states;

"The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)

There is no driver selected for the device information set or element."

thanks again for any help really appreciate it

I'm having trouble getting my laptop to boot up. When I connect the battery, or plug in the charger the power botton lights up, but doesn't boot up. When I press the power botton I hear a beep, and the light flashes then nothing.

A:HP pavillion not booting up

Hallo BIG_BDR,   Lets see if some simple TS can solve it. Take out our battery and ac adapater.Press down the power buttom 15 sec.Plug only the ac adapter in again and see if you can start it. If that does not work Press and hold down the windows buttom + "B" press the power buttom down in 2sec not more or less. after this 2 sec. release all the buttoms. Hope this solves your problem If not please let me know how many beeps your hear? are they/it short or long? Thanks.

I have what is probably a classic problem, of having a Laptop which
has had the Power Plug line yanked severely.... pulling out the center pin
and destroying the female jack. It would seem that replacing said jack would be a simple task.... IF you could gain access.

How do you open the case up?? I have an HP Pavillion xt178.
I have removed the HD, battery, access panels and all visible screws.
I've lifted the labels in the center of the bottom, looking for hidden screws and found none. Something still has a firm attachment to the center and I can see what looks to be a stand off, located in the center, but have no clue as to where to access it. I've trolled through the HP website, but can not find much more than rec.s to send it in for repair.

How and where does one gain the secret key??

HP Pavillion 500 desktop computer
push power button, processor fan moves ever so slightly, maybe 1/16th rotation and stops, and absolutely nothing else happens,
tested power supply unit, it is fine, i even replaced the power supply unit with a known working one, same problem,
i unplugged the 4 pin power connector from the motherboard, with this connector unplugged the computer will turn on, fans spinning etc etc, but i get nothing on the monitor,
motherboard im assuming?

A:HP Pavillion - No startup

It sounds like the motherboard.  Do you get any beeps?  It doesn't sound like you do.  If the board is more than a couple of years old, it could possibly be the dreaded "bad caps" (bad capacitors) problem.  You might look to see if you spot any that are swollen or leaking.
 Good luck,

A friend of mine phoned me tonight to tell me her old HP Pavillion had begun to struggle to power up over the last few days.

A big fat zero occured when she tried to turn the pc on over the weekend - it did power up after a couple of attempts. Gradually the number of attempts have increased until tonight when any number of button pushing would kick that monkey into life.

She has checked the power cable is fitting tight and the pc has not been removed.

Any suggestions?
