Q: How to format my pc without entering bios?

Recently something strange happened with my pc and every keyboard I tried to use doesn't work.So I thought by formatting it the issue might be fixed, but since keyboards don't work I can't enter boot menu.Is there any other way to format it?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: How to format my pc without entering bios?

You will have to remove the hard drive and format it in another pc.
But you can't install Windows O/S on the second pc as it won't run on your original pc.
After you have formatted the hard drive and fitted it back in the original pc, you might find the keyboard works properly again.
This assumes that you have the original Windows DVD and product key, or you have a saved image of your 'C' drive complete to copy back again.
( I would be more worried about why none of your keyboards work, but if you can reinstall Windows again that would solve any keyboard driver issues anyway.)
Hope that makes sense.

I'm creating a spreadsheet for user entry. It has some cells formatted as %. If a user enters 50, it converts to 50%. If they enter .5, it also converts to 50%, even though they're trying to enter .5 %. Is there any way I have it convert .5 to .5% instead of 50%, but still have the cell formatted to %?

I've recently discovered the delights of "PC PitStop" &, following a scan, it was suggested I enter the BIOS setup & check whether my processor cache was enabled, the implication being that I would experience better performance from my laptop if it was. On the basis that I really don't understand what any of this means:
1. Is it worth doing?

2. Is it easy to do?

3. If "yes" to 1. & 2...how do I do it?

My daughter has Win 7 Professional running on a 2013 vintage Dell desktop and would like to make sure that the bios is configured to start from the optical drive when a CD or DVD is in the optical drive. She has a Macrium Reflect Rescue Media on a CD and in the event of a HDD crash or related OS failure she wants to be sure that she can boot her PC to enter the Macrium Restore feature.

She has not been able to enter the bios setup - with the Dell PC one does not see a bios setup screen during normal boot up and she is unsure when to tap F2 or F10 (the common keys used) or other key to enter the bios.

Anyone have suggestions or guidance for entering the bios?

Here's something that may help you: BIOS Access Keys for Computer Systems (Lenovo, Sony, HP, Dell, etc.)

Basically, she should start tapping the F2 key right away if there are no banners at all for such things as Dell, or the video card, etc... If any banners are displayed, start tapping F2 after the last one clears ans a blank screen appears.

Hi Guys,

I have a boot up problem with a packard bell Easynote E2560 which i hope someone might know the answer to,

When i switch the computer on it hangs at the 'Purple' Boot Screen, it will stay there all day if i dont turn it off.

If I press F2 to enter the bios setup I get a message saying
'Warning Cmos Checksum Invalid-Run SCU Entering setup please wait'
and here it just waits nothing happens?

A friend suggested the cmos battery may be flat, so I have changed it but the problem still persists.

If anybody does have any advice I would be most greatfull.

It sounds like a hardware problem to me. Try removing the battery and running the laptop directly off of the charger.

The fact its turning off so fast clearly suggests there is a serious issue though.

Anyone ever hear of a computer clearing POST but then freezing during startup before accessing any drives? It also freezes when I try to enter the BIOS setup. I have an image displaied during setup so I can't see where it freezes. I have never had a computer not enter setup before and I have been building them for over 20 years. I can't get into the BIOS and I can't boot from a floppy to try and see what the problem is. This system was working fine yesterday but this started when I did a restart last night. I have disconnected the SATA RAID and all of the IDE drives and it still freezes. Any ideas?

A:Computer not entering BIOS setup

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

Forgive me if you`ve already tried all this.

Try clearing the cmos.

If it`s still a no go, then I`d suggest taking the heatsink off and after cleaning off the old thermal paste/pad, applying some new thermal paste and reattaching the heatsink.

Check the mobo for bulging or leaking capacitors. See HERE for more info.

Try a different psu.

A:Not entering to Bios setup Sony Lap

Hi sajin

The key for your Sony model is F11. As you power the laptop on, continuously tap the F11 key until the Vaio logo screen disappears.

That should do it.

Best of luck,

P.S. .. the Bios is completely separate from any operating system on the Sony. Neither Windows 8 or VMware are loaded in until the motherboard is ready for them to load.

I have been rebuilding my wifes computer after her other one fried. I put in a Asus A7N8X-X MB (older board but had never been used) with an AMD 2500+ and replaced every other component except sound and video cards. I have had a few snags getting it going. It seems to run fine now except the bios resets the date and processor speed when powered down for a while. I replace the battery on the board and thought it was cured but it reset everything again after being off for a few hours. I checked the battery and it tested good. Another thing is that after i reset the clock and processor speed (or any time I check the BIOS) after I save the settings it will not restart and I have to manually reset it and then it boots up fine. Any thoughts?

Thanks,Mitch

A:Enabling GUI Boot - Entering BIOS

Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

Are you able to access the Advanced Boot Options by pressing the F8 key at startup? It should list the following options:

Safe Mode
Safe Mode with Networking
Safe Mode with Command Prompt
Enable Boot Logging
Enable low-resolution video (640 x 480)
Last Known Good Configuration (advanced)
Directory Services Restore Mode
Debugging Mode
Disable automatic restart on system failure
Disable Driver Signature Enforcement
Start Windows Normally
I'd be inclined to go for Last Known Good Configuration first.

A:No Dell welcome screen, cant do a new instal, no way of entering bios

Hello Lodgik mate is this the laptop you are trying to install on or the old Dell? which is what I think you are trying to install to.

Mate if you are using the Dell the just get a new hard drive and be done with it. Mind you I have the exact same model Dell that you have and I don't know if the specs would be up to it as mine only has 2GB RAM and some slow old CPU so be prepared for a fairly slow machine and don't forget you will need a 32bit version of 7 and if you do go new hard drive you can get the OEM 7 and that is going to save you a lot of money even if yo up the HDD and some more RAM.

Some system specs on the Dell would be handy - Speccy - Download < download from piriform and post back results of the run using the XP.

Hi unhinged ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

How was it powering off the pc , then unplug the charger and remove the battery . Power drain it by pressing the power button down for 15 seconds , plug in the charger and use the Novo button (item 1 let side page4 One key recovery)  to turn on instead of the power button.

How was it if you just remove the harddrive ?

Hello,

Hi

Fast boot can be enabled and disabled also using the Toshiba software called ?Desktop Assist?. Within this tool you would find the Toshiba HWSetup and this software part should contain the Fast boot option.

Check it.

By the way: for some notebook series pressing INS button and then F2 worked too.

I have an Asus board with EUFI and cannot boot a Linux OS form a stick for trying out the VMware with Mint MATE.
Now it has been suggested that maybe the EUFI boot set up is not allowing the machine to boot from the stick the ISO is on and to change the BIOS to legacy.
Now I have seen a few things in Youtube and some mentioned reinstalls and such and there is somewhere I don't want to go right now in case I cannot get back the EUFI and as for a reinstall I have just done one and also do not want that.

So what is the go with the BIOS I thought the boot order could just be changed as the old system use to be - or can it?

I'm trying to update my BIOS. I have downloaded the update for my HP notebook from the HP website and installed it. When I run the HP System BIOS Update Utility and select Create Recovery USB flash drive, the drive is detected but I get a format error. I have tried numerous USB sticks of various sizes. All fail the format step. As a result of the failure to format, the USB is unreadable, ans must be reformatted via the Windows format command. My best guess is that although the HP System BIOS Update Utility installs and runs, it may not be compatible with Windows 10.

Hi.

I have a z77zud3h mother board. I have only 1 SSD stata 3 drive installed. I am wanting to install windows 7 again and just wanted to no how to set up this bios for one ssd. I am using latest bios f20

In bios features there are a couple of option.

OS Type = Other
Boot mode selection = UEFI and Legacy
LAN PXE Boot option Rom= Disabled
Storage Boot option Control = Legacy Only
Other PCI Device ROM Priority = UEFI OpROM
Net work stack = Disabled

Under Peripherals

SATA Controllers = Enabled
SATA Mode selection = AHCI

Under Marvell ATA Controller Configuration

GSATA Controller = AHCI MODE
SATA PORT 0 = Not Present
SATA PORT 1 = Not Present

Do I need to change anything if I am only using one SSD for gaming and no 2nd Hard drive. Also why is GSATA set to ACHI and no ports present do I need to disable this?.

Any other settings I need to change just for one SSD install?.

Thanks.

A:Format windows 7 bios config?.

I use AHCI and Legacy boot settings in the BIOS. UEFI is important in Win8 and later. The computers I've installed Win7 on didn't list GSATA in the BIOS.

Hi,

I've got a Dell Latitude 410 and I want to re-format HD and reinstall my win xp, but I'm concerned that as its a Dell I will end up with the Bios Password problem? Can anyone confirm that a re-format and install will be ok?

cheers

If you are able to boot off of the cd then there is no need for you to go into the bios. If you need to change the boot sequence then you will need to get into the bios and change the boot order.

Hey all,
I am trying to completely format my hard drive and reinstall windows xp on my system. The xp disk I have is the system restore disk that came with my computer. For some reason when I try to boot from this disk, it reads the drive, but then skips past and goes to the kard drive before allowing me to enter into fdisk. EVen after changing the bios to read cdrom first. Is there another way to enter into fdisk and format my kard drive. I have the six Xp 3.5 inch disks to use one the drive is formatted. Please help!!

You can make a boot disk from here http://www.bootdisk.com/ to fdisk and format.

Hello Recently I have found a rootkit on my computer in custom and format from Windows virus BIOS 7. particular rootkit tdss tdl From what I read only I got one of the BIOS virus and custom format from Windows 7. best I have two questions First - how can I check if my BIOS was affected without flashing it BIOS virus and custom format from Windows 7. I am reading that this trojan could have been started exactly from the BIOS and very likely to show up again after doing a clean install I have an HP laptop so seems like the flashing procedures require for disconnecting the hard drive- is that true for laptops Second is how do I format to make sure I clean the MBR I have Vista and want to upgrade to Windows I have Windows upgrade Ultimate disk which can do a Custom install which should format it entirely Tell me if I am thinking too old school here but should doing a low level or zero level format is necessary From what I read the Windows full format function should be as powerful as the low-level is that correct I don't mind the extra few hours of work as long as I don't have any issues at least with this trojan afterwards I am also worried that the upgrade Windows disk might not have all of the formatting capabilities as a full version is that nonsense Thank you for your help P S I posted this on Microsoft Answers - I didn't read any rules forbidding cross-posting but if there are I will kindly remove and I apologize for which

A:BIOS virus and custom format from Windows 7.

I have never had to remove a hard disk in order to flash a bios, just make sure the battery is charged AND you have AC power, never cancel or restart during a BIOS flash.

To make sure the disk is clean you need to delete all the partitions, then create a new partition in the unpartitioned space (goodbye recovery partition so if possible make the recovery disks first)

Never used an upgrade version, but see the tutorials section of this site, there are brilliant ones for all installation scenarios.

What specific SSD (brand, model) did you install and what is the complete product name or product number of the notebook?   If her notebook is an older one, it probably won't recognize a GPT, UEFI type format. That is if your install was GPT. Was it a GPT or MBR type disk?  The complete Model Name. or Product Number. of the notebook - see This HP web document if you don't how to locate the model number and\or product number. Without being provided with complete information it is more than a little difficult for me to know what your girlfriend's notebook has for a hardware platform, and that is important.

A:Pls help! I cannot access to bios setup after I format hardd

It is usually F1 or F2 for Gateway computers for BIOS set up, tap it repeatedly (not holding it down) to trigger access. Try unplugging hard drive and leaving it to see if that makes it possible to access your BIOS set up. Repeat with HD installed to set hard drive parameters and boot order. If you cannot access BIOS set up still, try running Memtest86 via a bootable CD to test your memory since memory is required for BIOS to operate. You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

A:Sata Drive Used As Slave, Not Shown In Bios. One Will Not Format

You can't use SATA drives as slave, they don't have a Master/Slave relationship like PATA/IDE drives do. So if the buyer is the one that used the slave term, perhaps he's jumpered some of the pins ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Image... RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Hard Drive -Bare Drive ) If he did that, then yes, I could see that the drives may not work as expected.

to Bleeping Computer. This issue will require further investigation and a more comprehensive look at your system. Many of the scanning tools we use in this forum are not capable of detecting (removing) all malware variants so more advanced tools are needed to investigate. Before that can be done you will need to create and post a FRST log for further investigation. Please follow the instructions in the Malware Removal and Log Section Preparation Guide starting at Step 6.If you cannot complete a step, then skip it and continue with the next.In Step 6 there are instructions for downloading and running FRST which will create two logs. When you have done that, post your logs in the Virus, Trojan, Spyware, and Malware Removal Logs forum, NOT here, for assistance by the Malware Response Team.Start a new topic, give it a relevant title and post your log(s) along with a brief description of your problem, a summary of any anti-malware tools you have used and a summary of any steps that you have performed on your own. If you cannot produce any of the required logs...start the new topic anyway. Explain that you followed the Prep. Guide, were unable to create the logs, and describe what happened when you tried to create them. A member of the Malware Removal Team will walk you through, step by step, on how to clean your computer. After doing this, please reply back in this thread with a link to the new topic so we can close this one.

Hi everyone,

I recently accidentally formatted a hard drive. So, I quickly install a file recovery software (EaseUS Data Recovery). Then the result shows that most of SWF files are big in size. I think that lots of my files have been converted or combine with other files. So, how do I recover my files?

Hello,

I'm working on an Excel project. I need a Macro to find duplicate values in Column D and when a duplicate is found, format the font color and fill color for that row, column A thru E. Any ideas?

What I currently have finds the duplicates, but only contionally formats items in that column. I don't want it to be conditional, but here is what I'm using:

Private Sub btnDuplicates_Click()
Columns("D:.D").Select
Selection.FormatConditions.AddUniqueValues
Selection.FormatConditions(Selection.FormatConditions.Count).SetFirstPriority
Selection.FormatConditions(1).DupeUnique = xlDuplicate
With Selection.FormatConditions(1).Font
.Color = -16383844
.TintAndShade = 0
End With
With Selection.FormatConditions(1).Interior
.PatternColorIndex = xlAutomatic
.Color = 13551615
.TintAndShade = 0
End With
Selection.FormatConditions(1).StopIfTrue = False
Range("E2").Select
End Sub

Any idea how to do this?

A:Non-Conditional Format: Duplicates Values in 1 Column Format Fill and Font Entire Row

I got rid of the conditional formatting you recorded, because I thought the best way was to loop through the cells in the column and try to find them in the range above and below, and it found them, to format the range of cells from A:E associated with the cells. The problem with using conditional formatting is that you can't loop through cells containing a certain format, because the cell object is not actually formatted. I hope this helps...
Code:

Sub Test()
Dim cell As Range, strValue As String
For Each cell In Range("D1:D10")
strValue = cell.Value
Select Case cell.Address
Case Is = "$D$1"
If Not Range(cell.Offset(1, 0), cell.End(xlDown)).Find(strValue) Is Nothing Then GoTo Format
Case Else
If Not Range(cell.Offset(-1, 0), cell.End(xlUp)).Find(strValue) Is Nothing Or _
Not Range(cell.Offset(1, 0), cell.End(xlDown)).Find(strValue) Is Nothing Then GoTo Format
Continue:
End Select
Next

Exit Sub
Format:
' you can obviously change this to suite your needs
With Range(cell.Offset(0, -3), cell.Offset(0, 1)).Font
.Bold = True
.Size = 10
.ColorIndex = 16
End With
GoTo Continue

End Sub
[\CODE]

I am setting up a spreadsheet for the year and want to use it year over year. I have the cell set up with the date (1/1/2011) with a format of d so that it displays the date as Sat, 1/2/2011 - Sun, etc. Since I want to use this year after year with minimal work and I want to highlight the cells that are equal to Sat and Sun, how would I set up that formula. A local business http://www.dinospizzausa.com/ wants me to add video to his web site. Problem is he brought a Panasonic VDR-D220 recorder. It records to DVD and memory chip. I can move the files with no problem to the hard drive but can't open them.

This recorder came with no software that opens this format. Now what I would like to do is not only find software (Free) that will open this format but also convert it to a format so I can play it on his website using Media Player. In the folder when downloaded to the hard drive are three files, VR_MANGR.BUP, VR_MANGR.IFO and VR_MOVIE.VRO.

Has anyone come up with software that will do this or an easy way to add these videos to a web site so they open when the web page open?

I would like to know which DVD format is most commonly used and good in quality.

And what is the best way to convert?

Thank you for your consideration.

A:Converting AVI files to DVD format?which is most used format and good in quality?

Hi bspkumar,
Here are a couple of links to some freeware downloads to convert from AVI to DVD format.
http://www.winavi.com/avi-to-dvd.htm

http://www.tech-faq.com/convert-avi-to-dvd.shtml

The above link gives information on how to go about converting your videos.

http://www.nchsoftware.com/prism/index.html
If you keep a backup copy of your videos then why not try these versions and see how the quality is? If no good, then you haven't lost anything.

Hope this helps you.
Kindest regards
Morny

I created a label format and stored it in format gallery in win XP, Works 8.0. Now, when I pull up Works, the "blank page" is the labels format, and I can't get to a blank page to type a letter. When I pull up Format Gallery to delete the only format I've ever created, it doesn't show up and the DELETE button is inactive. I think I have to go into regedit to delete the file, 'cause that's what I found for Works 6.0. Anybody out there know?

Why does formatting my drive using NTFS the full format one stop at Once I've booted from Windows XP Pro SP installation disc and choose the stops format using WHY'S Format option) THAT? 18%. NTFS (full at full format using NTFS at it stops I've been using my hard driv for years but have actually REALLY used it the last two years The previous years I have been using it for homework like once in weeks However I partitioned my drive using GParted main partition GBand second partition at Format using NTFS (full format option) stops at 18%. WHY'S THAT? GB then attempted full format using NTFS option and the full format stopped at When the format stops I mean Format using NTFS (full format option) stops at 18%. WHY'S THAT? that the yellow bar stays at and Format using NTFS (full format option) stops at 18%. WHY'S THAT? does not move for over an hour The NTFS format quick option is like then jumps to then jumps to and starts loading the files and all that normal stuff WHY DOES THE FORMAT OF MY DRIVE STOP AT please help me I have had no answers for years At yahoo answers what I get is some noobs who answer Also I want to note that I have a drive made by Western Digital and I have used their diagnostic tools thing and my raw read error rate is at value of and reallocated sector count is some high number both of the numbers are in red color everything else in regular black SAVE ME I don't want to buy a new hard drive since the United States' economy is so low and my family isn't exactly rich pc using for years I don't know if I screwed up the situation more but last summer of I reformatted and reinstalled Windows XP Pro quite a few times like once a week till school started

A:Format using NTFS (full format option) stops at 18%. WHY'S THAT?

The reallocated sectors means that bad sectors have been found, marked as unusable, and replaced with "spares". Bad sectors can be just a one time glitch that affected some sectors, or a sign of a failing drive. If the number of bad sectors continually increases, it's time to replace the drive.

Bad sectors are manged by the drive hardware and by Windows. The drive will add a bad sector to the Grown Defect list (G-List) when it finds one. These sectors should be invisible to the operating system.
Chkdsk will add bad sectors to the $BadClus file. I'm not sure if this is also passed to the hard drive for it to add to it's G-List.
When you do a format, the $BadClus file is deleted. On a full format, Windows runs chkdsk /R on the drive. This checks every sector on the drive to see if it's good or bad. Any bad sectors that were in the $BadClus file, but not added to the G-List, will be checked again.

If you have many bad sectors, this could take hours, if not days. I had one 60 GB disk that took over 48 hours to run chkdsk /R. Most of that time was spent getting from 40% to 41%. It has only 152 KiB in bad sectors, which is only 304 sectors. It's been nearly 3 years and it hasn't increased, so seems it was just one of those glitches.

You may need to let the system run for a few days for the format to complete, but from the sound of things, you should be saving up for a new drive. And certainly have a good backup program in place for your data.

If all the bad sectors are in one spot, you could try to create partitions around the bad spot. 24% of 160GB is 38.4. 18% of 180 GB is 32.4.
You could make a 30 GB partition, a 10 GB partition, then a 140 GB partition, and see if you can do a full format on the 1st and 3rd without it taking too long. I'd then install XP on the 140 GB partition. That might work as a temporary solution until you can replace the drive.

Hi So the title basically says it all This is what exFat HDD, format 'quick except to Can't enabled format' and external happened My TB external Can't format external HDD, except to exFat and 'quick format' enabled hard drive worked just fine I used to store there everything It was using NTFS file system Last week I connected it to my laptop and it was really slow when I tried to move or delete files from my pc to the drive I disconnected and reconnected it to my laptop Suddenly it said that I had to format it I couldn't even access it neither the files in it I managed to take some of the files to my laptop using recovery software and they are now safe I thought the trouble would be gone now I thought now I would just format it and store my files again I was wrong I can't even format it I tried disk management cmd almos everything I downloaded various programs to run tests and try to write everything zeros Turned out quiting that cause it tells me it needs a lot of hours So I tried a different approach that I was so stupid not to have tried yet I tried formatting in other file system I tried and it worked well almost I can only successfully format it to exFat with the 'quick format' option enabled If that option isn't enabled or I try to ormat it to NTFS the formatting proccess takes forever or crashes I would stay with my HDD formatted to exFat but it is too slow HELP ME TY

A:Can't format external HDD, except to exFat and 'quick format' enabled

Hello mate.

Have a look through the information below, you may just need to let a full clean all run though it will take hours, it may be the best option if you need the HDD for storage and be sure to post back with any further questions you may have and to keep us informed.

   Information

Open an elevated command window from the Windows desktop and run the clean command as listed in Method One of this first tutorial linked below to over-write just the disk format information, if that doesn't work use the clean all instead to completely over-write the entire HDD with zeroes then use Windows disk management to create the desired NTFS partition(s) needed. I have conditional format in row 5, as follows
Condition 1
=(F5="") and dragged across
Format is for No colour
Condition 2
=ISNUMBER(FIND("G",numForm)) and dragged across
Format is for Light green if condition met

Cell Format is set at General

I have two problems
1. Cell F5 produces 4 decimal places
2. If I change Cell format to Number , with 2 decimal places Conditional format of light green does not occur.

Is there a way to have a number cell format (custom or otherwise)to two decimal places and a conditional format that leaves the light green if a number is in F5. If no number cell to remain clear.

Any suggestions appreciated.
Pedro

Check if there are no quotes arounf that conditional format conditions, this happens quite often

I am at my wit's end, I don't know what the deal is. I just finished building a killer PC running i7 980x on an Asus P6X58D Premium motherboard with GTX 470 graphics card, Intel 160 GB SSD, Corsair 850 TX power supply. The RAM is 6x2=12 GB of the Corsair 1333 MHz 9-9-9-24. I am running Win7 64 bit.

POST is fine and the BIOS looks good.

I have had nothing but trouble whenever I use more than one stick of RAM. I couldn't install Win 7 at 12 GB, getting hung up and BSOD, so I was able to install only with one stick of 2 GB. Same thing now - if I boot with 4 GB or more, it's BSOD. With 2 GB, I can work like normal.

I ran memtest on each stick individually and on all 12 sticks, and there were no errors after multiple passes.

What is going on???? Anybody have any idea?

Thanks.

It shouldn't all of a sudden be asking for a password. Is this the same drive in the same computer as when it wasn't asking for a password? And you're sure it's a hard drive password it's asking for?Could someone have added a password without you knowing?Could it be asking if you want to create a password instead? If so you may be able to turn that off in cmos/bios setup.

Is there any way for XP to just go straight to the desktop when I turn the PC on without having to go through the Welcome Screen etc?

I tried typing "control userpasswords2" into 'RUN' and made sure I turned off "User must Enter a Username and Password to use this computer" but then when it got to the login screen I got a message saying "Unable to Log You on Because of an Account Restriction".

I then tried turning the optin back on, but left the password field blank. Now it DOESN'T require a password, but I still have to click my little Username icon in the welcome screen in order to log on.

Is there any way round this? Basically I don't want to see the Welcome Screen at all, I'd prefer it just to go straight to Desktop when I turn the PC on.

A:Entering the world of the SSD

1) Was the repair disk created from a Windows 7 SP1 install?

2) Change to AHCI before you install the operating system on the SSD.

3) Disconnect the original hard drive until you have completed the operating system installation and then you can decide what to do with it.

4) In my opinion formating is adequate unless you were going to dispose of the drive.

A:USB Device not Entering Suspend

I have the same issue. I was trying to search the forums today, as well as on the internet in general and I can't find a solution.

In the device manager, if I go to USB controllers, I have a lot of entries. Some of them are called USB Hub and there I have the option "Allow the computer to turn off this device ... " on. But, when I go to the actual USB devices I have, sucha s the keyboard and mouse, then this option is grayed out and not available. Moreover, for the Card reader device - I have a TEAC USB multiple card reader (this is a Dell machine), the power management tab is not available altogether.

So, the question is, do I have to search for newer drivers for these devices, such as install the Logitech software for the mouse and the keyboard? I have refused to do so since Logitech would install a bunch of programs and services that I never use really. This leaves me without the gaming options on my G11 keyboard, but I am fine with that.

Hello my friends,

unfortunately I forgot all my BSOD analysis skills, so I'll give you the chance. I just bought an ASUS Zenbook for studies, which is very pleasant. Though, today when I visited a website called The Verge, I got a BSOD. Earlier today when I visited the site, it froze for a second or two.

Usually it happens when the computer is running on the battery. I experienced a sudden shutdown when it's on battery, which is notable imo.

Anything you can pull off this one dump?

It's great to tune into this forum once again. Seems like you're doing just as fine as I left the building .

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

Hello,

I am developing the network driver but the driver always get BSOD when the Windows enter sleep status.

I have attached the crash dump and I also see the Windows crashed because of my network driver.
"This was probably caused by the following module: qcusbwwan.sys (qcusbwwan+0x5F14E)"
This information is came from WhoCrashed and I also see this in Windbg.

I have pdb and source code and how can I get actually which line make Windows crash?

Thanks.

Blake

I've sent a message to some driver developers that I know. Hopefully one of them can shed some light on this for you.

Just received a new Samsung LED monitor today (Samsung S24A350H) It seems to be a nice monitor apart from not being able to enter into standby mode when the attached Windows 7 PC enters sleep mode. The monitor enters into standby by itself correctly as per the Windows power saver options (Turn off display) but not when you choose sleep on the PC.
This monitor is connected with a DVI (PC) to HDMI (Monitor) connector as it has no DVI connection. I just wondered if anyone else has come across a similar problem. The power settings in windows seem to be correct. I am wondering if this is due to the DVI to HDMI connection not carrying the correct signal or whether there is a problem with the actual monitor switching circuit.
Thanks in advance for any replies
