Random Folder Pops Up On Desktop After Turning On Bluetooth

Q: Random Folder Pops Up On Desktop After Turning On Bluetooth

Hi, I'm using a Fujitsu E8410 laptop, Microsoft Windows Vista.

Recently, everytime I enable the Bluetooth function, a folder is automatically created on my desktop. This folder is called "Field Trip to Esplanade Pictures", but is always empty.

I created this folder end of August for school work, but deleted it soon after. So it doesn't make sense to me that it keeps getting created whenever i turn on the bluetooth.

What can I do to fix this? I've deleted the folder repeatedly after enabling the bluetooth radio.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

What are you trying to connect via Bluetooth?

Could it be that one of your Bluetooth capable devices has this file on it - and that it's syncing it to your desktop when you turn the radio on?

every so often, a mysterious folder opens up on my desktop, taking up 2/3 of the whole screen. there's no name for it in the taskbar, it's simply blank. ad-aware's procwatch labels it as:
HWIND: $14026E
Class Name: SysPager
Process ID: $077C
Thread ID: $07B0

included is a snapshot of my desktop with this weird folder opened up... you can barely see the edge of the desktop at the top of the picture.

any ideas??

Hi there! I got to this post googling for a solution for my system. I have almost the same issue, just that it does NOT affect my computer on startup.

I get exactly this Desktop-Folder-Window just randomly then and when. It pops up in the middle of the work. It puts itself over the active window. It does not seem to be related to any open software or any particular user action, its really just random...

Rather annoying...

Sometimes it does not happen for a while, and then, however, it starts again. We talk about 1 new Window popping up in 5 minutes or so, sometimes more, sometimes less.

As it does not happen when starting, in my case at least, its probably not a startup-entry, as it was suggested in the previous posts.

Really weird...!

Aero Peek is off, as I prefer to use the old fashioned windows classic theme.

Thanks for any useful help!

A:Desktop-Folder-Window just randomly pops up

I'm not sure but I had a similar pop up problem a year back. like numerous amounts of my computer would open, sometimes calculator & windows media player & internet explorer too. I scanned for viruses and found nothing. I even cried an entire day thinking someone was trying to hack my computer. After some searches in Google, I came to know that it was a keyboard malfunction causing the windows to pop open themselves every time. You could try turning of your computer, unplugging the keyboard for a while. also, try a different keyboard and see if stuffs still pop up. hope this helps some.

edit: could you post a screen shot of your windows too?

In windows 10 mobile, I can go into my bluetooth devices, and 'disconnect' a specific device. In Windows 10, I can only 'remove' the device (which I don't want to do) or turn off BlueTooth altogether.
Does anybody know a way to just disconnect a device? For instance, I want to have my headphones connect to my phone instead of the PC.

A:How to disconnect a bluetooth device without turning off bluetooth.

'Remove device' is probably not the best choice of words they could have used on this! When you close the process (i.e. 'disconnect' your headphones) on your PC, you are performing the same function as what you describe on your phone. You are not actually removing the device, just closing the process. I hope that makes sense!

I get a random folder named "great" that appears on my desktop...I can't delete it most of the time but whenever I do it seems to find it's way back to my desktop (normally I get an access denied message that it is in use) I have no idea what's causing this but inside is file called "fng-jhws.img" I can't open it with anything i have on my pc and it takes up about 2 gigs of space. My antivirus nor my anti-spyware is picking this up and I have no idea what it is. I just want to get rid of it.

I don't ever keep anything on my desktop except for my recycle bin, so it's very easy to spot when something is wrong. Lately, I've been having a random empty folder appear on my desktop. It has no name with it, and it returns even after I delete it.

However, when I do delete it, it gives me a strange message:
"Are you sure you want to delete these icons from your desktop?
To restore it later, go to control panel."

I click yes, and then it reappears.

In the "My Computer" "Desktop" the folder shows up (without a name underneath it), but when I click on it, it displays ::{0875DCB6-C686-4243-9432-ADCCF0B9F2D7} in the bottom area where it usually contains the details about the item.

Any ideas what this is and how to permanently remove it?

I have Vista Home Deluxe on a Sony laptop.

For some reason a Windows Bluetooth install process kicks off each time I boot the laptop. The install pop up window appears and eventually closes without any confirmation required.

How can I get rid of this?

A:Vista Bluetooth install pops up every time

Go to start menu and type msconfig in the search box. When the configuration utility opens up go to the start up tab and look on the list for the bluetooth application and remove the check mark then reboot.

Having a problem with some kind of internet explorer window opening at random. It never loads and I've attached a picture for you all to see what I'm talking about. Also, at one point the computer completely froze up, I had to restart the computer, and it never loaded past the "Starting windows 7" screen. Whenever I would turn it off, turn it on, it would go to automatically "repair" itself. Despite the repairs, I still get this random IE page. And yes, I am using firefox. I've also tried a virus scan but it doesn't really come up with any results. Any help would be appreciated.

I am trying to connect my phone via bluetooth to my laptop (HP 15), which is using a wireless internet connection.  I followed the steps found online: settings>change PC settings>wireless...except the "wireless" option is not an option.  I have PC and devices, Accounts, OneDrive, Search and apps, Privacy, Network, Time and language, Ease of access, and Update and recovery as my options.  I used to be able to connect, but I am unsure why I no longer have the "wireless" option.  Thank you for your help.

Hi guys, I had a Yoga Pro 2 but I got it replaced by Lenovo under warranty because it was having some major major issues. They sent me a Yoga 900 and I am already noticing problems with its connection to my bluetooth mouse. I used this same bluetooth mouse on my Yoga Pro 2 and it always connected fine without any problems at all but with my Yoga 900 it seems that the mouse will be connected for 5 minutes max and then the Yoga 900 will no longer recognize the mouse. Any help is appreciated, this is very frustrating and I have had been having a lot of problems with Lenovo's devices. Their warranty is great but I am getting tired of so many problems for such expensive machines.

A:Lenovo Yoga 900 Bluetooth keeps turning off by its...

Similar problem here.  Yoga 900 just a couple of months old, and I decided to try a bluetooth mouse.  It connected and worked just fine for a couple of minutes and then stopped.  Windows still says the mouse is paired and connected, but it doesnt work.  Turn bluetooth off, turn mouse off, remove mouse from bluetooth devices, re pair mouse and it works for a couple of minutes and then stops.  Lather, rinse, repeat.  I'm hoping this is a Windows problem and not a Lenovo problem, but if anyone finds a solution I would love to hear it.

I have a BlueTooth speaker that sometimes I will connect to my PC for listening to music. If I don't disconnect the speaker from Windows, then turning on that speaker will turn on the computer if it's off. The power management tab for the Bluetooth USB "dongle" is disabled; I've checked all the drivers are up-to-date but still can't figure it out. Are their any other settings I might be missing, or any other method to prevent this?

A:Folder pops up on login

Hi, and welcome to the board.

We'd like to have a closer look:
Go to http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/ , and download 'Hijack This!'.
Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log somewhere, and please show us its contents.

Most of what it lists will be harmless or even required, so do NOT fix anything yet.
Someone here will be happy to help you analyze the results.

A:system 32 folder pops up when i click IE

A new version of Hijack This has been released so get rid of the old one and
download from this site http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/downloads.htm

Than

Run an online antivirus check from at least one and preferably 2 of the following sites

http://security.symantec.com/default.asp?
http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/
http://www.ravantivirus.com/scan/
http://www.anti-trojan.net/en/onlinecheck.aspx

Be sure and put a check in the box by "Auto Clean" before you do the
scan. If it finds anything that it cannot clean have it delete it or
make a note of the exact file name and file location so you can delete it yourself.

Than

Download and unzip or install these programs/applications if you haven't already got them. If you have them, then make sure they are updated and configured as described

Spybot - Search & Destroy from http://security.kolla.de
Adaware SE http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/
then

Run Sybot S&D

After installing, first press Online, press search for updates, then tick the updates it finds, then press download updates. Beside the download button is a little down pointed arrow, select one of the servers listed. If it doesn't work or you get an error message then try a different server

Next, close all Internet Explorer and OE windows, press 'Check for Problems', and have SpyBot remove all it finds that is marked in RED.

then reboot &
Run ADAWARE

Install the program and launch it.

First in the main window look in the bottom right corner and click on Check for updates now then click Connect and download the latest reference files.

From main window :Click Start then under Select a scan Mode tick Perform full system scan.

Next deselect Search for negligible risk entries.

Now to scan just click the Next button.

When the scan is finished mark everything for removal and get rid of it.(Right-click the window and choose select all from the drop down menu and click Next)
Then

Download and install the Micro$oft antispyware BETA from http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx and let it fix anything it finds (when it finds things, please quarantine them rather than delete just in case as it is a beta and occasional False positives happen)

First press file and check for updates and then run it

Recent tests suggest that a combination of Adaware & M$AS removes approx 80% of spywares/Adwares, much higher than any other combination

Reboot and post a new hijackthis log

Restart your computer.
then post a new hijackthis log

Really not much to do here.....

Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any):

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Int ernet Settings,ProxyOverride = 127.0.0.1
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {FDD3B846-8D59-4ffb-8758-209B6AD74ACC} - (no file)

Please download Ad-aware SE and install it if you don't have it already. Make sure it's the newest version and check for any updates before running it. Go to this site to get the plug-in for fixing VX2 variants. To run this tool, go into Ad-aware->Add-ons and select VX2 Cleaner. Then click Run Tool and OK to start it. If it's clean, it will say Status System Clean. Otherwise, you will have to click on the Clean button to remove the VX2 infection. Also make sure to customize the settings in Ad-aware for better scan results. Run the scan and fix everything that it finds.

Download and install Spybot S&D. Run Spybot and click on the Search for Updates button. Install any updates if they are available. Next click on the Check for Problems button. Let it run the scan. If it finds something, check all those in RED and hit the Fix Selected Problems button. Exit Spybot.

Please advise if your problem persists.

A:random pops searching on net

Hello ,

do you have the proper plugins installed to Firefox

to make Firefox safe & secure you need to install plugins

you can find the ability to do this in the toolbar of Firefox by selecting (tools) & then selecting (add ons)you will then want to browse the selection

I have several issues that are probably related but I will list them separately for clarity Over the past couple of months I have been having an occasional issue where when I try to exit Internet Explorer the browser goes crazy and Internet Explorer windows are opened up multiple times one right after the other It can be nearly impossible to close all of the instances of it without shutting down the computer completely I recently found out that my office network has been infected with the confiker worm and it has been going on for a while un-discovered In my scheduled tasks folder I keep seeing tasks that I did not create called AD and AD and they re-appear even after I delete them but I don't know where they come from and I don't know exactly when they reappear I have a folder of unknown origin in my program files called Dl cats It contains files that I know I did not install I included a screen shot of the contents I have seen a trojan in my Pops & Wierd Spyware? ups folder Mulitple McAffee logs that has been hitting me for about a week and McAffee says it has cleaned it I Spyware? Mulitple Pops ups & Wierd folder am including a screen shot of that as well I do Windows Updates regularly run McAffee Anti-Virus version with Firewall version I update the definations regularly and scan often I have not seen any notifications of this virus but I can see the one listed in log mentioned above I also recently downloaded and installed Windows Defender and I run it along with McAffee My office is running Symantec End Point protection version and it is catching the varient of confiker called Downloadadup B but I haven't seen any evidence that my computer either got it or has cleaned it Do you know what the Dl cats folder is Do you see any evidence in my logs Spyware? On an XP home computer, in the past few weeks an annoying thing started happening. When I double click on a folder on the desktop, a window pops up saying Search Settings v1.2.3 Please Wait while Windows configures search settings. I click cancel etc but it takes up to a minute to go away and is a real pain.

I've run Malwarebytes in normal and safe mode.
I've run SpyBot.
I've run Adaware, normal and safe mode.
I've got Symantec Corporate antivirus running on the computer, daily update and scan.

Anyone run into this, and more important, how to get rid of it? My wife's sanity (and therefore mine) is hanging on the answer!

Jmsmall

I need help I've just uninstalled Internet Explorer on my laptop and I've deleted everything related about Internet Explorer Including the Internet Explorer Folder Located in Local Disk (C: )/Program Files. Then after I've restarted my laptop I opened a folder and instead of the folder opening in the same window, it opened in a new window. I've tried Researching the internet for help but the result was frustrating. I've even tried the folder Options by Clicking the "Open each folder In the same Window" Button but Nothing Happened . I'm Using an Acer Windows 7 Ultimate Laptop

Starting this morning, when I boot up, a window pops up on my desktop. It contains a folder called server.vbs, and inside the folder is just one file named 11406_5b485ac10.
My OS is XP, and I have run Spybot, AdAware, and Norton, and they don't find anything, but I was searching the net, and there are a lot of sites that talk about a server.vbs file that is a virus. I tried doing a System Restore, but it wouldn't take. I've looked through my task manager and can't find anything suspicious. What do you think?

Here's a weird one: At one time I had the Ask Toolbar installed and later I uninstalled it. But there is a folder left called "Ask & Record Toobar". It's empty. I delete it and after about 5 to 6 seconds it pops back up in the same place! In 25 years of this stuff I've never run into this. I have nothing running that would cause this. Any ideas?

A:Weird Folder won't uninstall, pops back up

Update and run a full anti virus scan
Download and run malwarebytes updated and full scan.
If all are negative try this:
Folder - Delete from Command Prompt

then this
Folder won't Delete - ARGH

as a last resort try this. All your temp folders will be delted, use with care. Be sure nothing that you want will be lost.

Make a system restore point before use.

Whenever I exit any program window, or even a simple file folder, a blank Internet Explorer brower pops up somewhere on the screen.

I have beencleaning this system off using Spybot, CCleaner and Adaware, however this issue still exists.

Any suggestions?

A:IE browser pops up when closing any folder or program

Hi Chris

This has to be malware related. Follow the HJT link in my sig and go through the whole 5 steps process. Post your final log in the HijackThis section where security techs will review it. It can take some time before you get an answer from them as that section is overcrowded, just be patient. Once they'll start reviewing your log you'll have quick feedback.

A:Malware on my machine: IE pops up at random

Hi and welcome to TSF.

My name is Iain and I will be helping you clean your system.

You may wish to Subscribe to this thread (Thread Tools > Subscribe to this thread) so that you are notified when you receive a reply.

Please read these instructions carefully and then print out or copy this page to Notepad in order to assist you when carrying out the fix. You should not have any open browsers or live internet connections when you are following the procedures below.

Note that the fix may take several posts. Please continue to respond to my instructions until I confirm that your logs are clean. Remember that although your symptoms may vanish, this does NOT mean that your system is clean.

If there is anything you don't understand, please ask BEFORE proceeding with the fixes.

Please ensure that you follow the instructions in the order I have them listed.

Please do not install or uninstall any programmes, or run any other scanners or software, unless I specifically ask you to do so. Also please copy and paste logs into the thread, rather than add them as attachments.

Combofix
We will begin with ComboFix.exe. Please visit this webpage for download links, and instructions for running the tool:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/comb...o-use-combofix

Please read all the information carefully! If using Windows XP you should ensure you install the Recovery Console.

You MUST disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications - please read this thread as a guide. They may otherwise interfere with our tools and interrupt the cleansing process.

Please include the log C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply for further review.

A:Random website pops up whenever i start PC.

Hello Haruka and Welcome to the BleepingComputer.

My name is Yılmaz and I'll help you with the cleanup of malware from your computer.
Before we move on, please read the following points carefully.
Please complete all steps in the specified order.
Even if tools don't find malware, I want you to post the logfiles anyway.
Please copy and paste the logfiles directly into your posts. Please do not attach them unless you are instructed to do so.
Read the instructions carefully. If you have problems, stop what you  were doing and describe the problems you encountered as precisely as  you can.
Don't install or uninstall software during the cleanup unless you are told to do so.
If you can't answer for the next few days, please let me know. If  you haven't answered within 5 days, I am assuming that you don't need  help anymore and your topic will be closed.
I can not guarantee that we will find and be able to remove all  malware. The cleaning process is not instant. Please continue to review  my answers until I tell you that your computer is clean
Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic
As my first language is not English, please do not use slang or idioms. It could be hard for me to understand.
Please open as administrator  the computer. How is open as administrator  the computer?
Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, as they will  interfere with our tools and the removal. If you are unsure how to do  this, please refer to get help here
Thanks
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am currently reviewing your log.I will be back with a fix for your problem as soon as possible. Please be patient with me during this time.

Is it possible to transfer data from my desktop pc to my laptop pc without turning on my desktop pc? My desktop pc does not work and needs a new motherboard. I know I can take my PCs in to Best Buy and have them transfer the data for about $100. I'm hoping to do it myself and cheaper. Is there any specific equipment I can rent or buy to do this myself? The data I need transferred is from my old desktop is from a Dell Dimension XPS T500 to my new Dell Inspiron 5100 laptop. Any ideas?
Thank you.

I just did a google search on this and it seems to be something to do with the source code of whatever you are tryin to look at
I'm not sure what causes it and it may be something to do with flash but I'm not sure.Hopefully this will bump you up the queue and someone with more knowledge will be able to help you.

Dear All,

Does anyone know how to get rid of an administrative tools folder that pops up on boot up on Win XP Home? I have tried goggling this issue, but with no luck.

Any ideas?

Please write back

Cnon

PS I also have a Hijack this log if interested.

A:Does anyone know how to get rid of an administrative tools folder that pops up on boot up on Win XP Home?

Start/Run...type msconfig and hit Enter.

Click on Startup tab...examine the entries which are checked.

If there is an item listed matching what appears at boot on your system...uncheck it, click Apply, click OK.

Recently, my monitor's on-screen controls menu has started to pop up at seemingly random intervals. The monitor is several years old. It used to work normally.

This is a Decaview V382 crt monitor. The controls are normally nvoked from a central wheel-button at the bottom of the monitor. Turning the wheel scrolls through the menu.

A:on-screen controls menu pops up at random

Sounds like either failing circuitry or a possible lint build up in the switch button/wheel.

You can address the latter by blowing out the button/wheel area with "canned air".

Maybe it's time to treat yourself to a new Monitor!

not sure if this is some sort of virus. Google had no information on it whatsoever! not even when Googling it with quotes. at random times I get a window in my taskbar that is there for about 5 seconds before disappearing, the time increases to 15 seconds if I click on it, giving me enough time for me to see that it says "Name Setup: Installing" Googling "name setup installing" yielded spam results, even worse when searched with quotes. the taskbar icon has no icon whatsoever, just a generic "missing icon" icon

I have installed Classic Shell and although it takes me straight into desktop on boot I still have Metro appearing whenever my cursor moves towards the right of the screen. I hate metro and do not want it intruding on my desktop. PLEASE someone help me solve this problem. I just want a pure desktop without any metro or bars appearing on the side. I am frustrated because I do CAD work and metro or the charms bar keep intruding on my work. If I cannot solve this problem I will have to go back to windows 7.

A:Metro pops into desktop!

There might be a settings preference to turn off the hot corners in classic shell.

A:Internet Explorer Pops Up and displays Random Sites

Hello -

Do you still require assistance? Are you still getting popups and random sites?

A Reminder....

As seen in Post #2 of our sticky topic 'NEW INSTRUCTIONS Read this Before Posting For Malware Removal Help'

Quote:

Why we don't ask you to run ComboFix from the onset

As stated by the author of ComboFix:

We first need to verify if there's any rootkits present and how they could affect our tools. DDS & GMER are preliminary scans. We use their logs to map our strategy for attack.

With these logs we can determine the infections present & decide whether to deploy ComboFix

I'm not sure how to remove it. It's from www.cansew.ca (a sewing company...), and it says that I can either save or cancel the download of the file, "b...". How do I get rid of this? I've already tried Ad-Aware, Webroot's Spysweeper, and PCTools Antivirus.

Also: Ctrl-Alt-Dlt doesn't work any more, and my XP Firewall isn't on whenever I turn on my computer. It used to always be on...

P.S. Sorry if this is the wrong forum to post in; I'm new here.

It just started doing that. How do I make it stop? Maybe it has something to do with when I right clicked on the doodad on the lower right corner and checked "peek at desktop" to see what that does, but I've unchecked it and the desktop window still pops up at startup, checked or unchecked.

I've got a Problem with a black window box popping up or flashing on and off quickly when login into my Desktop Screen or going to my browsers. It looks like a CMD box but its black (nothing listed in Command area), this is a very annoying problem for me because I prefer not to have any problems with my computers and this is on both my Desktop and Laptop. I've searched online to resolve this issue, Clean Boot Selective Startup resolves this problem but causes issues with my other services and startup items not working. I'm now at my whits end not knowing how to fix this very aggravating Issue Someone Please Help!

A:Black box pops up and goes off after Desktop login or browser opens!

What you are seeing is most likely a Command Prompt running a script for a program you have installed.

You will need to disable that within MSCONFIG. Try disabling one-by-one programs with restarts to see if the problem goes away.

Occasionally a slight mouse movement mysteriously switches me from various apps back to the Desktop. If I nudge the mouse again, I'm back in the app (and any keystrokes or actions I took while thinking I was in the app, but the Desktop was displayed, still occurred in the app). This has happened in several apps, but not any Office apps, so I consider it a Win 10 issue (probably another switching feature that I really don't want or need). The mouse has also worked fine for years, and this problem arose after upgrading to Win 10. Any advice to get rid of this frequent annoyance would be greatly appreciated!!

Are you letting the mouse drift into the bottom right of the screen? Hover over the area at the far end of the taskbar and you'll get a Peek preview of the desktop (not switching, for that you need to click there). This behaviour is optional and can be turned on/off in the Taskbar Settings.

I have a folder that I use pretty much every day but it keeps on turning itself into a backup By this I mean that when I click on it I get a popup message saying quot Windows Backup Choose an option below for the selected backup and three options a turning keeps Folder into a backup Restore my files from this backup Folder keeps turning into a backup b Restore files for all users of this computer c Manage space used by this backup quot This folder is just a general folder that I use to keep certain Folder keeps turning into a backup files related but it is Gb in size The only way I've found of getting around this is to copy the folder and then delete the one it's claiming is a backup The only way I can access the folder is by using shortcuts to the folder withing the quot backup quot As this folder is Gb in size it takes about an hour to copy this so it's becoming a real nuisance Has anyone any ideas how I can just get it to stay as a normal folder I would have posted this in the backup section however it's more of a folder problem than a back up

So I am trying to figure out how/why this is the way it is. I have a user that has their desktop as a folder (quicklaunch style) on their taskbar. There are no desktop icons on the actual desktop and any new icons created by installing a program or dragging and dropping to the desktop are moved to this idiotic location on the taskbar.

I have checked the registry and Shell folders appear correct.

I have a feeling that a previous user has used something similar to Tweak UI and changed this and now it has me scratching my head. Any suggestions on restoring this desktop?

I know it is difficult to troubleshoot .Pc turns off and back on maybe 2 or 3 times a week. It is a relatively recent power supply ( 6 months ) 550 watt .It has a more recent hdd Seagate 200 gb . Memory is 2 512 hhz micron 2700 ddr .Cpu is an Athlon xp 2800 .Vga is a GE force fx 5500 . I am aware these are the main suspects . What is the Main suspect please? Where to start ? I've seen it turn off (no blue screen) and most times it has rebooted on its own mostly when idle . I have checked and rechecked power settings , it's not set to go off at all. The most annoying thing is, it' s sometimes ok for weeks .I know it is difficult any thoughts ?

So, ive got this HP DC7700 tower thats been giving me issues for a few days now, starting with the hard drive killing itself. Im currently sitting here watching the Diagnostic LED blink three times, indicating there isnt a CPU installed on the motherboard, I have a Core 2 Duo E6600 installed in the socket and locked down. I have no idea why it would do this other than the motherboard being shot. Hopefully some of you can shed some light on this before i pull out an older backup machine

A:Desktop not turning on

Hello, I would suggested trying to reseat the processor to see if that might resolve the beep code. Really beyond that, this appears to be hardware related, and more than likely is it either system board, CPU, or CPU socket related. However, reseatting the CPU might help. I know this sounds ridiculous, but also clearing the CMOS on the system can also make a difference with these older desktops. Hope this helps! Sincerely,Wendy_R

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

A little more information as to the Lenovo model you own would be helpful to those responding.  Also does this happen at any particular time of day or at a set time ?  Does this occur after a power outage ?

So, ive got this HP DC7700 tower thats been giving me issues for a few days now, starting with the hard drive killing itself. Im currently sitting here watching the Diagnostic LED blink three times, indicating there isnt a CPU installed on the motherboard, I have a Core 2 Duo E6600 installed in the socket and locked down. I have no idea why it would do this other than the motherboard being shot. Hopefully some of you can shed some light on this before i pull out an older backup machine

I have a HP Notebook Pavillion and I am struggling with some settings. It uses Windows 10. 1) When I bluetooth files from my phone to my computer, the photo's can't not be found anywhere. I did follow some of the posts from people here with similar problems, however I have tried via C/Users etc. + other variations, and nothing. They are also not to be found under 'pictures' anywhere. When I use the search function on my computer, it can't find 'bluetooth exchange folder' at all. I believe I have windows 10. 2) When I download from the internet (whether it's Explorer or Chrome) I don't get asked under which folder I'd like to save. It automatically downloads in 'downloads' which is very unhandy for me. I did try to look under settings in Explorer, but can't seem to find anything to change this setting. Can someone please assist me with this? Thanks!

Hello Everyone, My desktop's (HP Envy 23 Touchsmart) screen is not turning on. The computer itself turns on but the screen doesn't. I have tried a hard reset, which didn't work. I have been having problems since I installed the latest windows update which was yesterday 7/16/16, I then uninstalled those updates and it began working fine again. I went away for a while then came back and the screen wouldn't turn on. Can someone help me out. Also if you are also having this problem, whether it be from the windows update or the screen problem, please share so they know.  Please note that I have seen the following as well.  http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/bph04760 http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02217843

A:Desktop All in One Screen Not Turning On

Hi there, I picked up my new All in One yesterday.  Installed Windows 10, everything seemed fine but today I too am having this issue.  In a brief window of the screen being on I have gone into settings and changed the display turn off to never, probably not a good option but is allowing me to use the computer.  Would like a fix pretty quickly!

Everytime I turn on my PC, it flashes the hp logo for about 5 sec, then goes black. It does this again and again and never stops until I turn it off. I've had this computer for about a year and a half and this is the first time it happened. Anyone know what to do?

Edit: not sure but it might be my monitor causing it. not sure though

A:problem when turning off desktop

I faced similar problems, but not exactly the same one.

If there is a software level problem, presumably a virus, you should try formatting the Hard Disk and re install XP.

If the problem persists, and you face it the first time when you turn off PC after fresh install of XP, then you have a more serious hardware problem.

In my case, it was defected motherboard and the seller had it replaced. It could be attributed by other hardwares such as RAM or the Hard Disk itself.

I'm using an HP pavilion desktop, and an apple airport. Whenever I connect my desktop to the router, it stops sending its signal out. It simply stops appearing on the list of networks. It comes back if I restart it, but then will disappear again after 10 or so minutes. I'm using windows 7, and a Belkin USB adapter. The problem appeared after doing a factory reset. While it is not broadcasting, there is a green light still on on the front of the airport, and I can see other wireless networks.
Other computers, phones, and ipads have no effect on the router. Only the HP is shutting it down.

A:Desktop is turning off my router

Shot in the dark. Try turning off UPNP support on the router. UPNP allows the the client computer to control the router.

I have a HP pavilion dv5 laptop with a broken monitor, so I took apart/disconnected the lcd panel with my laptop. I am running on an external monitor without having the actual lcd panel (from the laptop) connected right now. I was wondering if this will cause some electrical problem? Any advice would help thanks.

A:Turning Laptop into desktop ?

I personally don't see why it should, you should be able to run from an external monitor permanently on a laptop if you want to.

You may be able to replace the LCD anyway, have you checked ebay and the like for the same model, possibly going cheap as spares / repair or even looking for replacement new LCDs?

A:BSOD at random times, and often after turning on from standby mode.

That's a bug in the app unfortunately. We can get the dump files manually.

Go to

Code:
C:\Windows\minidump
Upload all those files by copying them to the desktop and compressing them in a single .zip folder.

Or even better, upload a Kernel memory dump.

Go the Start
Right click My Computer
Select Properties
Click Advanced system settings
Click on the Advanced tab
Select Settings under Startup and Recovery
Then under Write debugging information select Kernel memory dump.

Once a dump is created go to:

Code:
C:\Windows\memory.dmp
Copy the file to the desktop, zip it up and upload it to a file sharing site like Onedrive. After the upload is done post the download link in your next reply.

Hi guys

I have been having a bit of problem with my computer - I have windows 10 installed

It feels like approximately every second night my computer is turning off by itself at night and I have no reason why - I was wondering if any one could have a quick look at the zip

It has once this week turned off for me during the day when I was using the computer

-I always leave this computer on so had a little theory it could be the power supply?

Thanks so much

This has all the hallmarks of a loss of power. Whether that's due to a fault in the power supply, a wiring fault in your home or an interruption in the supply from your power company I can't tell. If you happen to be using a UPS, then that eliminates outside factors and points to a faulty power supply.

As an experiment, pull the power plug and deliberately cut the power. Now restore the power. Does the system reboot immediately? If not and you have to manually turn it on again it could be a power cut that causes your headaches. If it does reboot immediately, then you can eliminate any external cause and finger the power supply as the likely culprit.

I purchased a computer back in from CyberPower PC before I knew how to built them myself It s been running practically flawless since purchase up until recently The problem occurring could definitely be due to age but thought I should throw it up on here for some assistance Over the past couple days my computer has been randomly turning itself off during game play like the system has been unplugged About three times in Aion and once so far in Bad Company I thought it was due to overheating or dust or whatnot - so I ve cleaned up all the dust internally and set it up on a table leaflet so that it isn t sitting on carpet anymore After I gave it a thorough cleaning it worked perfect for about a day and a half and just recently went out on me again After it goes out it won t allow me to attempt to boot it back up for at least minutes Could this be due to overheating still I have never had an overheating issue or due to my psu going bad or getting old Also was concerned about my cpu chip and if it was overheating I also made sure driver s were updated all around had been having some graphical errors and everything seems to work perfect At one point I had SLI d cards in my computer but one of them seems to have burnt out My computer will no longer recognize it and if I make it the top card in my mobo it will blue screen with graphical errors so I removed it Been working off at video during game Computer play turning random fine since it s been removed Compy stats listed below Running Windows Vista -bit Coolermaster Cosmos Sport Case EVGA NForce I mobo Intel Quad Core Q Thermaltake Big Typhoon VX VR GB PC DDR x Computer turning off at random during video game play EVGA GeForce GT GB x PCI-E used to be two now only have one GB Sata-II RPM mb black Sony x DVD RW Apevia Warlock Series w PSU Any suggestions would be extremely helpful It s driving me insane nbsp

Hey,

I have never had this problem on another laptop.

When I press the power button my laptop just goes into standby - Normally powers up straight away with no problems, but sometimes the screen comes on but just stays black - Windows doesn't load.

The power off button doesn't work, even holding it down a long time, only way I can turn it off is if I take out the battery.

Anyone know what can be wrong?

Thanks!

A:Windows 7 - Laptop not working at random when turning on - Powers up but nothing on

Take the battery back out hold down the power button for 10 seconds. Without the battery power up the machine.
Shut down the pc install the battery power up the system. Is everything ok now? How old is the pc and the battery? Perhaps the battery seen better days and has no charge left in it.

To turn off hibernation temporarily go to Start type in CMD locate CMD.exe right click then select "Run As Administrator"

Code:
powercfg.exe -h off
hit enter

as mentioned before deleting it manually above is a simple way of doing the same thing.

I also suggest backing up all important data and running a check disk.

Go to "Start" type in CMD located CMD.exe right click on CMD.exe then select "Run As Administrator" at the command prompt type in then hit enter...

Code:
CHKDSK /R
type in Y for yes then manually reboot.
