Failed Updates in Windows Update. Want to clear update list?

Q: Failed Updates in Windows Update. Want to clear update list?

I would like to delete the failed updates list in Windows 7 Update.  I have done this in the past but forget exactly the process.

I think you go to Windows Folder-Software Distribution.  After deleting everyhting in the folder., i think you are to restart the computer.  Once finished the list of updates in Windows Update will be cleared.

Please correct if I am wrong.  Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Preferred Solution: Failed Updates in Windows Update. Want to clear update list?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Failed Updates in Windows Update. Want to clear update list?

This is the way I suggest :

Go to start > type in cmd > right click at cmd.exe > Run as Administrator.

Type in "net stop WuAuServ" without quotes > hit enter.

Type in "start %windir%\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore" without quotes > hit enter. A folder will come up. Don't close that black window.

Rename file "DataStore" to "DataStoreold" without quotes.

Go to that black screen, Type in "net Start WuAuServ" without quotes > hit Enter. After it finished you can close it.

Now your Windows Update logs will now cleared.

Thank you.

Welcome
You may not want to hear this, but the solution to your problem is to manual upadate and do a few at a tome.
Since the updates require a restart, when there are many conflict can and do occur.

I have a Dell Inspiron laptop that runs Windows Vista SP Last Monday it had shut down and the only thing I could do was to reformat and install Vista I checked in BIOS and the hard drive was recognized There are gigs of RAM recognized After installing I was able to install all the drivers and all looks well in the Device Manager I put Microsoft Security Essentials on and updated the virus definitions I thought the next thing I should do is to install Windows Updates That is where my problem started When I first Update updates says Windows failed. Help!!! checked it showed updates that needed to be installed As I ve done installation before I knew that wouldn t be all but after the installation I checked and all were installed and showed as successful in the Windows Update History After that I checked again Windows Update says updates failed. Help!!! and it showed updates I went ahead and started the installation of the All were installed and after restarting and having windows complete all three steps of installation I checked and the Windows Update History shows that the files have failed I don t think that is possible as I saw successful insulation I am going to assume that they were installed Is there a way I can erase the Windows Update HIstory so I won t see the failed installations I know Windows Update says updates failed. Help!!! I ve done that once before but it has been a long time and I just don t remember Thanks in advance for any and all help I really appreciate it

A:Growing List of Updates That Fail When Running Windows Update

Ouch! - you have over 200 missing Winning Component Keys!
One or two I can deal with - but this number is beyond a manual fix.
I'm afraid that a repair install is going to be your best option unless you have a Restore point that goes back to before the problem started.

I upgraded to 7 from Vista, using an original manufacturer disk. It was not a clean install, I installed on top of Vista.

Works fine and I started installing about 200 updates in series of 5-10. Went great until one failed.

It is KB3075220 and error code is 800F0902

I attach a printscreen.

What can I do to fix this?

A:Installing 200 updates after upgrade to Windows 7 -first failed update

Hi Johnny,
That error code is not really a problem.
That KB has been superceeded, but not yet recognised by your system, it may clear itself after a reboot if not you can hide it and carry on updating the rest.

Windows 7 Ultimate x64 With All Patches
I have tried using wmic and powershell as suggested in a number of posts.  None of the outputs include the full information under the Name column in View Update History.  wmic includes the URL for the knowledgebase article instead of the description.
The varies powershell scripts also do not produce the information under Name.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hello everyone. Couple days ago i installed Windows 7 on my computer and as usual i checked if there is any updates available. I installed ~140 important updates, but my PC's time is still incorrect. Since my PC location and timezone are set to russian, my timezone settings have to be like (UTC +03:00) Moscow, St. Petersburg, Volgograd (RTZ 2). But still, when i open my date and time settings, i see (UTC +03:00) Moscow, St. Petersburg, Volgograd, without RTZ2 and clocks on my pc are one hour ahead.
I've checked for new updates several times again, but Windows Update still says that there is no important updates available. There is 89 optional updates available, but KB2998527 is not shown in this list. And yes, i did hide a few important updates, but there is still no KB2998527 among them. Below you can see a few screenshots from my update center, if there is any use of them. Any solutions?

I just updated my -bit PC with the anniversary update as no updates available? failed update - Anniversary After, confirmed by the changes to the notification at far right and all programs showing on the start menu But then I tried the update on my -bit PC which I started and let run while away from it When I came back Windows had restarted so I assumed that it had updated However the notification icon Anniversary update failed - After, no updates available? is still to the left of Anniversary update failed - After, no updates available? the date in task bar and the start menu at left still as it was As it appeared the update did not work I went into Windows updates again where I was advised there were none available I assumed that if it failed that it would be available again under updates however now not sure what Anniversary update failed - After, no updates available? happened ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Update Found the Windows Update Assistant and running it shows that I had version and not the Anniversary I'm thinking now that the updates were all for and not the anniversary update Anyway continued with the update that fully downloaded verified and started the update About of the way it failed with error x Tried it twice with same result Any ideas

Hi,

Try to remove the proxy server entry from the WinHTTP proxy configuration for Windows 7:

1.
Click Start, and then type cmd in the Start programs and files box.
2.
Right-click cmd.exe in the Programs list, and then click Run as administrator.
Note If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or click Continue.
3.
Type the following command and then press Enter:
netsh winhttp show proxy
Note The proxy setting is listed next to Proxy Server. If there is no proxy server, Direct Access <no proxy server> is shown in the Command Prompt window.
4.
To remove the listed proxy setting, type the following command and then press Enter:

netsh winhttp reset proxy
5.
Click Start, click All Programs, click Windows Update, and then try to download and install updates again.Alex Zhaozx

A:Update history indicates some updates failed, but not sure it's a prob

You may well find that the failed updates installed successfully at a later time - this is quite common, as updates test to ensure that all required files are already installed, and will fail if not, only to install successfully after the next reboot when the files have been install by another update.

i just reinstall my windows 7 home premium last night, and after i click the update button i left it alone and couple of hours later i saw a lot of failed update on windows update history?

these unfinished update will it became a trash on my computer or just simply gone?

how to delete these failed updates?

thx,

A:there's a lot of failed update on windows update history?

You don't delete failed updates - it just means that they didn't install at that attempt (possibly your connection got broken)
Go back to Windows Update again, check for updates again, and install ONLY the Security updates for Windows itself (not .NET, or IE etc.) , then go back and do the rest of the updates for Windows, - then do IE, and lastly do the .NET updates.

Every now and then I need to update MSE virus defs but Windows update downloads files GRR! What do I do about this pest? I just disabled the windows update service which obviously prevented me from downloading MSE defs

Have you tried setting Windows Update to not Download updates?
You could also set it to not check for updates while you are on holiday.

Upon shutting down my laptop Windows SP I was given the message that update - updates. installation and Strange events failed several of updates were being configured and to not shut off the computer I found this strange as I have Windows Update set to have me choose when updates are downloaded and Strange events - failed update and installation of several updates. installed I let it run and at the point Strange events - failed update and installation of several updates. where the updates were shown as completed it just hung there I let it run for several minutes and it did not change I shut off the computer using the power button I restarted the computer in Strange events - failed update and installation of several updates. safe mode and was quickly given a message to the effect update configuration had failed and things would be reverted It stayed at this message for about minutes and then a message indicating a cleanup was being done appeared This lasted about minutes or so and then it went to my sign in screen A message that I had windows updates available then appeared in the notification pane There were optional updates available for MSE which I no longer have on my computer and for IE which I have on my computer I uninstalled the IE update on my computer and then tried to install the update The installation failed twice I then did a restore and got IE back The update history on the Windows Update page shows the failed installations of IE which still appears as an available optional update on However the view installed updates in the Control Panel shows Windows updates being installed on Can anyone offer an opinion on what happened I am wondering if the failed update configuration and resulting reversion and cleanup resulted in Windows installing the updates with today s date S Also I don t understand why updates were downloaded and installed without my permission I did note when I checked my version of IE there was a box checked allowing the installation of new versions automatically I unchecked it but I am wondering if that was the botched update Things seem to be running OK but I haven't tried many things Thanks in advance for your help

A:Strange events - failed update and installation of several updates.

I found I also have a problem with Turn Windows Features On and Off. Nothing appears in the box after opening it. From cursory research i found this may be related to the update issue.

I am downloaded the SURT and tried to run it twice. It hung for a long time and had to be closed via task manager. I see from this page that may have been normal.

I apologize for not following the instructions for posting. I wasn't really looking for a solution but some thoughts on what may have happened. Now I believe I have a corruption problem that will likely need to be fixed to allow me to update properly. I ran sfc /scannow and it didn't find any problems.

I am downloading a new SURT file and will run again. Should I start a new thread or post the results in this thread?

I have 30-some-odd "Optional Updates" from Windows 7 that are Languages Packs from all sorts of languages I'll never use. A:Windows 7 SP1 update failed, causing Windows Update errors

Well; one thing i can tell ya is that when it says cannot update while files in are in use basically means you need to restart your system. Try restarting and see what happens. It may tell you either when the system is in the process of restarting; that its configuring updates. Do not do a hard power down as that can cause even more issues while its updating.

A:Many failed update on history windows failed to configure startup

Hello smeraldan and welcome to Seven Forums.

My usual disclaimer: I'm not an expert at anything. Sometimes malware can prevent Windows Updates from installing. Run a full scan with your personal anti-malware suite. Then use the free Malwarebytes to run another full scan. (No anti-malware product is 100% effective 100% of the time. If there was such a thing we'd all be using it.)

Malwarebytes

Another possible problem is if system files became damaged or corrupt. I'd run a system file checker scan from an elevated command prompt (option two.) If problems are found run the scan 3 times rebooting in between each scan.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

You could also try running the System Update Readiness Tool if you haven't already done so.

System Update Readiness Tool fixes Windows Update errors in Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008 R2, and Windows Server 2008

Try installing the updates again, but this time just do a few at a time (maybe only 5 or so.) Keep track of the KB numbers. Start with the critical updates, then the important, and save the optional for last. If a group of 5 installs OK go on to the next group. If any group fails to install you'll know which group to uninstall. Try installing just one update at a time. If they install OK go on to the next group. Otherwise just ignore the problem update(s) for the time being and continue installing in groups of 5.

Hi,

I wonder if there is any possibility that we can delete Windows updated files which begins with KB and recover disk space? Or we must not touch that?

If it is possible what would be the procedure on Windows Vista 32 bit machine?

Any advice in this regard will be appreciated.

Thank you

A:Can we delete Windows update KB Files to clear disk space?

You never delete anything that is installed, you uninstall it, but never updates as they are cumulative. All Windows Updates begin with KB and should not be uninstalled. unless you wish to have them re-offered by Windows Update which is useful if one becomes corrupted for instance.
You can clear up a lot of stuff by using Disk Cleanup: Disk Cleanup or Extended Disk Cleanup: Extended Disk Cleanup

Greetings I recently built list. Updates on 'Installed failed, still Updates' appear yet a computer and the operating system I've installed Updates failed, yet still appear on 'Installed Updates' list. is Windows Professional Everything was going fine till a massive batch of updates had to be installed about in total When I booted up my computer it was stuck on the 'configuring Updates failed, yet still appear on 'Installed Updates' list. installed updates'-'failed to configure updates reverting back to previous state' screen for about minutes after which my computer booted normally I ran into some weird bugs like Windows claiming that I had never updated the computer nor installed any updates despite the update history showing several updates that had been performed in the past few days and after running the Windows Update Troubleshooter resetting Windows Update through the 'Services' menu and deleting every file in the SoftwareDistribution folder I simply installed the updates in small batches I should mention that after running the Windows Update Troubleshooter I did get a message telling me that my Service Registration was quot missing or corrupt quot but I think that's been fixed after performing the other two steps I mentioned above I also ran sfc scannow and everything checked out The issue that remains however is that a trio of updates seemingly failed to install according to the 'Update History' list yet they appear on the list of installed updates accessed through the 'Programs and Features' section in the Control Panel They are KB KB KB So the question is should I uninstall these updates and redownload and reinstall them Or should I simply leave everything as is I've read that hard drives and RAM can also cause these issues and though I really doubt my drive or my RAM are the issues here if it helps I'm using a Samsung Evo GB SSD no other drives at the moment and have GBs of MHz RAM installed x GB manufactured by G Skill Another strange thing I noticed is that on the list of installed updates it said that my computer has had a total of updates and after installing another updates I'm still seeing a total of updates I guess this is just a minor glitch or something of the sort Any and all help would be much appreciated

I googled the issue and found that this could mean my system reserved partition is full and indeed that is what I found. My C: drive is a 500 GB SSD but the system partition is only 100 MB of which only 3 MB is free.

MS web page has a long convoluted command line "fix" for this (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3086249) but I was wondering why I couldn't just "shrink" the main C: drive partition and then "extend" the system partition using diskmgmt.msc.

Or is there a better way?

A:latest update failed - can't update system reserved partition

Hello Ray Lo,

Yes, potentially you can do this... But I would suggest backup of your SSD, before you try to do anything as such... WRT shrinking and moving partitions! Just in case!

One extra step enforcing security does no hurt, does it?

As the title says, I have problems with Windows Update. I tried some fixes like: Reset_Reregister_Windows_Update_Components, Reset_Windows_Update_History, MicrosoftFixit50362 (which is a Microsoft Installer Fixer that couldn't install PowerShell), MicrosoftFixit50202. But what I really need is installing .NET Framework 4. I tried forcing it to install, installing it step by step, but it couldn't go further than .NET Framework 3.5. I need that Framework, the other updates don't really matter. And the interesting thing is that my antivirus doesn't say that Windows is not up-to-date, which is not normal, in ESET Smart Security, if Windows is not up-to-date.
If specs matter:

AMD Athlon ll X4 750K
AMD Radeon R7 240 4GB GDDR3

A:Windows Update stuck at Checking for Updates and can't install Updates manually

Hi antoniu200:

Many other Vista users have reported that Windows Update seems to get stuck at "Checking for updates..." for long periods of time, and this problem dates back to the August 2015 Patch Tuesday updates - see my screenshots in ScousaJAY's thread windows update just seems to hang while checking in the VistaForums. This month's December 2015 Patch Tuesday updates required a full hour on my machine before it finished the  "Checking for updates..." phase and finally presented a list of available updates, so you might want to try running a manual Windows Update and leaving your computer alone for an hour or so to see if it eventually runs to completion.

You might also want to read Nikilet's recent thread Updates were not configured correctly in that same forum.  Some Vista users, including myself, received an error message this month stating "Updates were not configured correctly. Reverting changes. Please do not turn off your computer" when they tried to install the December 2015 Patch Tuesday updates.  Six updates for the Vista OS and one cumulative update for IE9 were marked as "Failed" on my machine after Windows forced an automatic rollback and re-boot of my machine.  I re-ran Windows Update today and all Important updates that failed yesterday eventually installed successfully ("Checking for updates..." still took about one hour and I declined one Recommended update KB3112148 for Vista and one Optional update KB3106614 for Silverlight today) so the secret might be to install updates in smaller batches instead of trying to install all dozen or so available updates in a single update session.

I recently learned about the WIndows Update that people are saying thatshould be uninstalled.
This was KB3004394

I found this listed in the Windows UPdate history (Control Panel0>Windows Update)
And it is listed as having been installed successfully

However, when I go to Control Panel -> Programs and Features-> View Updates
and look under "Microsoft WIndows, the update isn't listed there. nor are many others.
This is the only place I can see that I can uninstall it however.

I suspect this MIGHT be the culprit to why i'm having freezes. It may just be that my usb ports are failing or something and the opsys might not be freezing.

I do notice too that there was another update installed on the 12th. KB3014777 I think) that is said to fix the previous update. But I'm not entirely confident in that.

A:Windows Update list not listing KB3004934

Try to System Restore to a date before the update was delivered, then set Updates to manual until you see it delivered again and can hide it. It may also have been pulled by MS.

Compare the install you have with the perfect Win7 install compiled in Clean Reinstall Windows 7.
The Factory Install is the worst possible install one can have, so I'd strongly consider doing that one great install now which you can preserve with an image.

Recently I've been getting a consistent problem with a update from Windows 7 a few weeks ago - my computer will habitually download the update every time I turn my PC on - and tells me that I have to reboot for it to install, OK - that's fine. I do this and when my computer reboots it gets to about the 97% mark and tells me it has failed to install the update - moves on to removing it and rebooting again to complete the removal process - and after all this it gets back to my log in screen, I log in, it downloads the update again and the process never ends.

Is this a common issue? I would truly appreciate some help here.

Hello taochuen and welcome to the BC HijackThis forum. I see no signs of viruses or malware in the log. It is clean.Let's try a different scanner and see what it shows us.Download WinPFind2.zip and unzip it to your Desktop. It will create a folder named WinPFind2. Hi, I'm running Windows 7 home premium 64bit and I'm trying to update my system and it says "Windows Update cannot currently check for updates, because the service is not running. You may need to restart your computer." Well, I have restarted my computer and it still says that and when I go into the services, neither the BITS or Automatic Updates services are there.

If you could help, I would be really glad.

In windows update click "change settings". Change it to "never check for updates:not recommended" Press ok, after that put it back to "install updates automatically (recommended). Press ok. Next press "check for updates" if possible.
IF that does not fix it, then try running the attached tool.

The error code indicates here is either a bad sector on your hard drive, or a system file or files are corrupt. See here: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-system/error-code-bad-image-windows-7/e3b2b788-1415-4dd6-ae90-c413ba1e726a

Every time I attempt to do a Windows update it says failed, I'm trying to install the Windows Installer 3.1 and it keeps saying it fails. Also, when I shutdown the computer and let the updates install that way it just says "Installing update 1 of 8..." and stays there for a minute then shutdown without installing anything.

Is there a way to fix this? Also, could I download the WIndows Installer 3.1 .exe from Microsoft without using the auto update tool? Or how can I delete previously downloaded updates that fail to install?

Any help will be appreciated, this is one of the most annoying problems I've had with Windows.

My Windows Update resulted in the failure of 15 D/L's,

I am asked to download again and if that doesn't work try the trouble shooter.

Should I have the Firewall and AVG disabled, during the D/L ?

Is there another common reason, At first it registered that the first two or three were downloaded, etc.

Then this morning after 8 hours it was stalling doing nothing so I clicked cancel after reading that some of them failed, then going to the IE Windows Update page, all 15 had failed ?

I'm lost! I am running Windows XP and have had no troubles downloading the Updates since I purchased my unit last year - until last week. Now there are 7 Updates that will not download and the MS site gives no direction or explanation. I even tried turning Zone Alarm off and then trying (yes, I was nervous). I was going to go over and do each one by hand but it just confuses the heck out of me what could be wrong. I have run....
Spybot Search & Destroy, Panda Anti virus, AdAware, MS AntiSpyware, Spyware Dr., and Counter Spy. All came thru fine. The one clue I did get from Microsoft was Error Message 0x802000 10. Anyone have any ideas as to what could be going on? Thanks in advance for your help!

A:Re: Windows Update - The D/L Failed

Have you tried contacting MS concerning this? On the Windows Update site, on the left side of the window there's a menu selection for Help and Support. You can send them an e-mail about this. This should open a trouble ticket for you and hopefully they can work with you on this.

My OS is Windows XP Pro, SP3. I attempted to download and install the latest batch of updates that came down a few days ago, and all appeared to install OK with the exception of the NET Framework 1.1 SP1 security update. Dialog box simply stated that the update was not installed. I looked at my updates in Add/Remove software, and noticed that Net Framework 1.1 SP1 did not even appear on the list. I went to the Microsoft page and downloaded SP1 and tried to install it, thinking that the security update might not install if SP1 was not there to begin with. However, when I attempted to run SP1 installation, I told me that SP1 was already installed. I'm not sure why I can't see SP1 in the updates list. Looking for some instruction on where to go from here. Thanks! John.

I have even had to do a complete image restore a couple times to get my pc to go into windows. Needless to say....I am WAY behind on keeping Windows updated.

I have a desktop and notebook running dual boot xp/linux. In the last 4 months when I try to use IE Windows Update a message comes up saying - Files required to use Microsoft Update are no longer registered or installed on your computer. Then I click on the - register or install the files for me now - it seems to install some files but when I try custom or express updates it gives me the same 'files required' message. Any help appreciated.
Also I recently put together another computer without linux dual boot and I have no problem with updates. Yes these are legit xp's they are registered with MS. Thanks again

Windows update has stopped working,
WindowsUpdate_80070005 WindowsUpdate_dt000
also my network adapter although working fine, sees no network, i have tried renaming and restoring new, the software distribution folder, they say this is the fix, it's not! Have searched the entire net, except here, and MS technet and the knowledge base and NOTHING. this is the last resort before scratching the OS, hope someone here knows what to do.

things i have tried

a new software distribution folder

a restore to a point far before the start of the problem, restore successful, update unsuccessful

turning on all services

giving every account permissions

turning on administrators accounts

other things to many to remember

TIA Mark

You need to do an in place upgrade or start fresh. I went thru 10 or so emails with microsoft tech. My disk is not upgrade compatible so I did fresh install. You can order an upgrade disk from microsoft for $12

I decided to do a Windows Update as it was suggested it could help as I can't now watch videos that have been posted in Facebook. I don't normally do that as it appears to be updating automatically. It wouldn't update so I checked the update history and found that a particular update had been failing to update since 2011! I would appreciate advice as to why it isn't updating and how I can get it to update. The update is Windows 7 Service Pack 1 for x64-based Systems (KB976932) Error details: Code 80073712. When I check the error details it doesn't give an error code of 80073712 so I can't find out what to do. Any help would be appreciated.

I re-booted after windows update and as the pc was starting it said "atuocheck files missing" and then tried to re-boot. This justs keeps happenining in a loop.
To avoid losing the data since my last backup I bought a new harddrive and tried to reload XPhome from my startup discs. XP Home would not load, it kepts saying "Glue Error" so I loaded XP Pro. The pc now works and I then connected my old hard drive as a slave.

On the slave I can read all my desktop but cant find any files in My Documents.

Any ideas?

A:Windows Update Failed

Do you remember any specific file names? if you do a search for that on your Drive letter and pick include subdirectories, include hidden files and folders, and include system folders hopefyully you should find the directory they are all in. if not you'll have to use some recovery program.

I am not the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to computer... I will admit that. But when my computer says "An update is ready" and I say ok little computer please update, it goes through all it's stuff only to say "UPDATE FAILED". I don't know why, every time before this it said update it would normally update.
These updates are KB954478 & KB953404. If I could trust some one to remote show me how to fix this so I could learn would be great.

Also since my computer started acting all crazy, when I reduce the window what ever which one it may be (Outlook, Internet) it streams down. The sides first and then the middle. maybe it's nothing but it never done this before..

If there is anyone out there who can assist me I would greatly appreciate to the fullest!

Thank You

A:Windows 7 Update Failed

well first off don't get to mad it won't help you

Second ,You already reformatted and installed correct

Take the win 7 dvd once again but this time choose upgrade instead of clean install

It will do some changes but mind you choose UPGRADE it will re do your windows and allow you to install sp 1 or other updates

Im saying this cause i ran across the same situation you just need to update windows again and it should take

Remember everything doesn't work perfect on the first go sometimes you have to play with it a litte it is time consuming but that is the best option besides Mickey mouseing around with other aspects that might not have anything to do with the upgrades

A:update for Windows 7 failed

Please follow the Windows Update Posting Instructions and post the requested data

If the file is too large (8MB compressed), remove the older CBSPersist cab files until the final file is below the limit - you can always post them separately after zipping them. (the forum doesn't allow the upload of bare CAB files, for a number of reasons)

Please also post the C:\Windows\windowsudpate.log file

I have a new laptop LG with Vista business.

My problem is I cannot install the two latest Microsoft updates:
one of them is service pack2, the error found is: kode64C
and the other is an accumulated security update for IE7., error called: kode 80080100

Both are from August 14, 2007.

I have tried doing this update several times in the last days.

I made sure I had my antivirus turned off while I tried to do the updates.

Any idea of what I could do?
Thanks!

Hello all.
Running windows 10 pro 64 bit.
I've updated from Version 1511 to the anniversary update, 1607.
Or at least, I thought I did.
The update went well, no hiccups, no errors. Used windows update, let it downloaded and install and rebooted. Alas, system still shows OS Version 1511.
Used update again, same thing, rebooted, 1511.
Went to the windows site, downloaded the windows10upgrade9252.exe, ran it, same exact issue, rebooted, still showing version 1511.
Error logs show no issues. Disabled all external drives, turned off anti-virus, etc, repeated, rinsed, rebooted, still version 1511.
Only think I've not done is burned an ISO to DVD and updated from that.
Any clues as to what's going on?
Thanks!
Nelson Davis

Can you check to see what OS version you have? Check in settings > system > OS build. It should show something like 14393.5 or 14393.10

I keep getting an error: 800b0100 when I try to install this security patch (Vista x86). It's the only thing NOT installed. I've tried running the System Update Readiness Tool, but it doesn't find anything wrong (no point in posting the logs - as it shows: No errors detected).

I'm out of ideas as google didn't help find anything.

Thanks,
Shawn

A:Windows 7 failed update problem

Hello -Apart from being a server issue with the 4 computers (ever tried on another download / modem / router) -Now can you please tell me the settings for updates, they will be listed as below >>1. Install updates automatically 2. Download updates, but let me choose whether to install them3. Check for updates, but let me choose whether to download and install them4. Never check for updates (not recommended)Using option 1 you hope that the system / server is not too busy and just install whenever they are availableUsing option 2 you allow the updates to be installed at a time of your choiceUsing option 3 you get to see all updates, and can only select one at a time if you chooseUsing option 4 you would need to manually go to Windows site and seek any available updatesWhen you get Updates Failed do you ever get an error number (there usually is one) -Thank You -
