I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Looks like driver issue. You need to update all your drivers

Windows 7 64 Bit OS

Computer Hardware:
Intel i5 cpu 760 2.8 GHZ
4 GB ram
Radeon HD 6870 Video card
Powered by Corsair 1000w Power supply

First the computer was a present so I really do not know what I am doing. I have researched multiple steps to take in trying to correct BSOD. Some days it runs smooth while others I can get 5 BSOD a day.

Once the BSOD started getting out of hand I ran a DISK error check, a Disk cleanup, then I defraged the computer. I also made sure that all drivers were up to date and I ran a virus scanner.

This helped for around 1 week. Now they are back and as of today I have experienced 4 BSOD. I have attached the past 5 minidump files. Any help would be appreciated.

A:37 BSODs in one month!

You actually counted 37 BSOD's in a month? That's about as exciting as watching grass grow  Try resetting the bios to the default settings. If you don't know how to do this, get a friend to help you

This started happening, like I said, about one month ago. I was never able to catch the number of the errors though as they would always happen at random time and turn my computer off immediately after. I thought I had fixed these by installing windows XP updates, and I was able to play the games that would crash again.

Two days ago, I got a different Blue Screen (Sorry again I'm very bad at catching the numbers ) so I decided to put in the new ram I had gotten recently.

Last night I got a blue screen while I was playing a game, and a blue screen while I was logging back on, I believe one of them was an "irql_not_less_or_equal" error while the other was an 0x0C5 error. I did system restore, and right now it at least allows me to log in and use firefox.

A:For over a month, various BSODs

Take a look in Event Viewer for hints on what may be causing the bsod . .

Lots of BSODs and I'm tearing my hair out. Please help! If someone can look through and give me some clues, that would be great.

1. I've tested memory with memtest so far
2. HDD with chkdsk / HDD tune etc
3. Checked internal cabling, everything is tightly connected
4. Drivers are up to date

Thanks!

Hi,

I have a x64 system.

Retail copy of Windows 7 Ultimate.

My system's age is about 3-4 years.
I have reinstalled the OS 1 year ago.

I got BSODs watching clips on youtube, while i was listening music in winamp and when i tried to connect my Sony w660 to my computer.

Thank you for your time and please help me!

P.S Windows_NT6_BSOD_jcgriff2 folder is attached. Also, the perfmon / raport file is attached as well.

For only the past month, I've been having BSODs on my 5 month old self assembled computer. All of which occur during gaming. For the first two BSODs, I thought it was due to my undervolting of the CPU (which had been stable for months), so I reset that to factory settings. Unfortunately, I'm hit with a brand new error this last time (dxgmms1.sys as opposed to whea_uncorrectable_error). I'm at a loss as to what may be the cause and have no experience evaluating dmp files, so I figure the bright people of this forum can lend a brain.

Hello, I hope someone can help me with this never ending problem!

I have had a months worth of BSOD errors. Happening roughly twice a day and mostly when the computer has been idle but not always. The culprit shown on the majority of the minidumps is ntkrnlmp.exe but as you will see not always.

Thanks in advance,

Terry

Hello,

Probably caused by : hardware ( Ntfs!NtfsRestartIndexEnumeration+89 )
I've been seeing a lot of hardware and memory corruption/management. To be safe. Lets do a full hardware check.

BugCheck 0x124
You have a 0x124 hardware bugcheck. If the system is still under warranty, I would recommend sending it in to have diagnostic tests done and any bad hardware replaced.

   Warning
Before you proceed with the following, answer these two questions: Are you still under warranty? Does your warranty allow you to open up the machine to check hardware? If you are unsure of the answers to these questions, contact your system manufacturer. WARNING: The steps that follow can void your warranty!!!

For your hardware stop 0x124 crash, read through Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try and use the following hardware checks to supplement that link.
If you are overclocking any hardware, please stop.

If you have an SSD, make sure the following are up to date:SSD firmware
BIOS Version
Chipset Drivers
Hard disk controller drivers/SATA drivers
If you have a Marvell IDE ATA/ATAPI device, make sure the drivers are up to date from the Intel site or Marvell site and not from your motherboard/vendor support site.

Run all but the advanced tests with SeaTools for HDDs.SeaTools for Windows

SeaTools for DOS
Monitor temperatures during the following tests. Use the following programs to monitor the temperatures. Real Temp is a good CPU temperature monitor.
Speccy - System Information - Free Download will monitor all hardware temperatures.
HWiNFO, HWiNFO32 & HWiNFO64 - Hardware Information and Analysis Tools can be inaccurate for CPU temperatures, but is a good program for GPU temperature monitoring.
Use FurMark: VGA Stress Test, Graphics Card and GPU Stability Test, Burn-in Test, OpenGL Benchmark and GPU Temperature | oZone3D.Net to test the graphics card GPU. Let it run until the GPU temperatures even out or until the GPU temperatures reach a dangerous level (you can find the max temperature for your card on either the nVidia or AMD sites; if you are not sure, ask us). The goal is to get a steady temperature, find out if the GPU is overheating, or to see if there are any artifacts present in the test itself: look for strange pixelated patterns on the screen or colors that do not look like they belong. Then use the |MG| Video Memory Stress Test 1.7.116 Download to test your graphics card memory. Let the memory test run for at least seven passes; the more the better.

Run Hardware - Stress Test With Prime95 to determine any hardware problems. Run all three tests for a few hours each. If you get errors, stop the test and post back here.

Follow the steps for doing CPU stress test using IntelBurnTest

Run the boot version of Memtest86+ paying close attention to Parts 2 and 3 of the tutorial. Also, in case Memtest86+ misses anything and comes up with no errors, run the extended version of the Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool for at least five passes. These you may want to run overnight since they take a long time to complete (run them an hour before bed each of the next two nights and check before going to sleep that they are still running).

For Part 3: If You Have Errors: If you swap any memory components, follow these steps for ESD safety:Shut down and turn off your computer.
Unplug all power supplies to the computer (AC Power then battery for laptops, AC power for desktops)
Hold down the power button for 30 seconds to close the circuit and ensure all power drains from components.
Make sure you are grounded by using proper grounding techniques, i.e. work on an anti-static workbench, anti-static desk, or an anti-static pad. Hold something metallic while touching it to the anti-static surface, or use an anti-static wrist... Read more

First was on 6/21, I was not present for it so I don't know what happened.

Most recent was today, I was using Firefox when suddenly the screen blacked out, then distorted graphics appeared, followed by a crash to BSOD. Computer is perfectly stable otherwise, most recent crash followed two weeks of consistent, reliable uptime.

Attached you'll find the requested reports, system specs can be found in the profile details.

A:Two BSODs in the last month, unknown causes

We've seen a number of BSOD issues with SSD's. Here's the information that I've compiled so far:

Quote:
There's not a whole bunch available to test SSD's. The "easiest" test is to remove the SSD, install a platter-based hard drive, install Windows and test for stability that way.

Here's some suggestions:
- Update the SSD's firmware to the latest available version (VERY IMPORTANT!!!)
- Update the motherboard controllers drivers to the latest available version from the controller manufacturer (NOT the mobo manufacturer unless you can't find any on the controller manufacturer's website)
- Slow the memory (RAM) down to the next slower speed (I've only seen one person who claimed that this worked for them).
- Use any manufacturer's utilities that you may have. If you don't have any, then try this free one (I haven't used it myself): Crystal Dew World
- Update chipset and storage controller drivers to the latest available from the manufacturer of the device (not the manufacturer of the motherboard). Be sure to update ALL controllers on the motherboard!
....NOTE: Recently (Nov 2011) we had BSOD issues with the Marvell 91xx controller and an SSD. You may have to switch controllers also.
- Replace the SSD with a platter based hard drive and see if that stops the BSOD's. If it does, then it's likely that there's a problem with the SSD OR an incompatibility with your system.
It's my opinion that SSD's aren't reliable enough (with current hardware) to be used on a system that needs to work reliably. Until I see reliability I will not recommend, nor will I use, SSD's for critical applications.
06 Dec 2011 - This post tends to confirm issues with certain SSD chipsets and certain controllers - [SOLVED] cant find the cause of BSOD F4 - Tech Support Forum
29 May 2012 - The frequency of BSOD's with SSD's seems to have been decreasing over the last several months. It may be approaching time to re-evaluate my stand on their suitability for use in production systems.

SP1 isn't installed. Please do this:

Quote:
Installing Windows 7 Service Pack 1
1. Visit the PC manufacturer's website and update ALL drivers. DO NOT use Windows Update or the "Update drivers" function of Device Manager.
2. Check Device Manager for any unknown/disabled devices - if there are unknown/disabled devices, fix them with the latest drivers from the device manufacturer's website (not the PC Manufacturer)
3. Visit Windows Update and get all updates (may take repeated visits)
4. Visit Windows Update and get Service Pack 1 (usually under Important Updates). Read these notes for installing SP1: Steps to follow before you install Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 from the Microsoft Download Center
NOTE: For Vista, read these notes:

Quote:
Read these notes for installing Vista SP1: Learn how to install Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1)
Read these notes for installing Vista SP2: Learn how to install Windows Vista Service Pack 2 (SP2)

5. Visit Windows Update and get any other available updates. May take repeated visits, but keep it up until you get several "Windows is updated" results.
If you're having difficulties with installing a Service Pack, please use the SURTool from this link: What is the System Update Readiness Tool?
Also, check out this troubleshooting link from Microsoft: Troubleshoot problems installing Service Pack 1 (SP1) for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2

I have had limited success in installing updates/Service Packs when using a "clean boot". I suspect that I'm just bypassing the problem - and that it can come back to bite me in the butt later on.

You have a Linksys AE1200 wireless USB adapter. Win7 doesn't like these wireless USB devices, especially when coupled with older (Vista era) drivers. Here's my rant on this subject:

Pool_corruption (memory) (probably from a driver) please run these two tests.
Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program.

Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.

Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

Driver verifier

Quote:
I'd suggest that you first backup your stuff and then make sure you've got access to another computer so you can contact us if problems arise. Then make a System Restore point (so you can restore the system using the Vista/Win7 Startup Repair feature).

In Windows 7 you can make a Startup Repair disk by going to Start....All Programs...Maintenance...Create a System Repair Disc - with Windows Vista you'll have to use your installation disk or the "Repair your computer" option at the top of the Safe Mode menu .

Then, here's the procedure:
- Go to Start and type in "verifier" (without the quotes) and press Enter
- Select "Create custom settings (for code developers)" and click "Next"
- Select "Select individual settings from a full list" and click "Next"
- Select everything EXCEPT FOR "Low Resource Simulation" and click "Next"
- Select "Select driver names from a list" and click "Next"
Then select all drivers NOT provided by Microsoft and click "Next"
- Select "Finish" on the next page.

Reboot the system and wait for it to crash to the Blue Screen. Continue to use your system normally, and if you know what causes the crash, do that repeatedly. The objective here is to get the system to crash because Driver Verifier is stressing the drivers out. If it doesn't crash for you, then let it run for at least 36 hours of continuous operation (an estimate on my part).

If you can't get into Windows because it crashes too soon, try it in Safe Mode.
If you can't get into Safe Mode, try using System Restore from your installation DVD to set the system back to the previous restore point that you created.

I have a refurb Acer Aspire laptop that I use lightly -- no gaming, mostly just surfing and word processing.

I'm not sure what was going on when each crash happened, but it's possible I had a lot of windows and programs running at once.

I think the code was 0xa00001. There might have been more zeroes than that.

I've read much of this thread, and you guys are amazing.

CHKDSK /R /F:
Run CHKDSK /R /F from an elevated (Run as adminstrator) Command Prompt. Please do this for each hard drive on your system.
When it tells you it can't do it right now - and asks you if you'd like to do it at the next reboot - answer Y (for Yes) and press Enter. Then reboot and let the test run. It may take a while for it to run, but keep an occasional eye on it to see if it generates any errors. See "CHKDSK LogFile" below in order to check the results of the test.

Elevated Command Prompt:
Go to Start and type in "cmd.exe" (without the quotes)
At the top of the Search Box, right click on Cmd.exe and select "Run as administrator"

CHKDSK LogFile:
Go to Start and type in "eventvwr.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter
Expand the Windows logs heading, then select the Application log file entry.
Double click on the Source column header.
Scroll down the list until you find the Chkdsk entry (wininit for Win7) (winlogon for XP).
Copy/paste the results into your next post.

I have been experiencing BSODs frequently for about a month now and i have updated my BIOS, ran HDD scans and they have come up clean. I am pretty sure at this point it is a driver related issue but i cannot figure which one. So i was coming here to ask if someone could possibly look through my past 5 or so minidumps to help me figure out this annoying issue.

Hi, for the past month or so, I've been dealing with random BSODs on my windows 7 laptop (Sager NP4658), can someone tell me what's causing them?  I've attached the dump files from the last month to this post.

I've already done a chkdsk which found no corruptions, SFC 'did not find any integrity violations', and verifier.exe (only tested all non-microsoft drivers) found no problems.

A:Frequent BSODs for the past month

Please provide this information so we can provide a complete analysis (from the Pinned Topic at the top of the forum):  http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/576314/blue-screen-of-death-bsod-posting-instructions-windows-10-81-8-7-vista/ Out of 7 memory dumps there were 6 different BSOD error codes.  The differing error codes are usually symptomatic of a lower level problem within the system. They are usually caused by one of these things (the list is not in any sort of order):- borked (broken) hardware (several different procedures used to isolate the problem device)- BIOS issues (check for updates at the motherboard manufacturer's website)- overclocking/overheating - You'll know if you're overclocking or not. If uncertain we can suggest things to check.- dirt/dust/hair/fur/crud inside the case.  Blow out the case/vents with canned air (DO NOT use an air compressor or vacuum as they can cause damage to the system)- missing Windows Updates- compatibility issues (3rd party hardware/drivers), older systems, or even pirated systems- low-level driver problems- or even malware (scanned for when we ask for hardware diagnostics from http://www.carrona.org/initdiag.html or http://www.carrona.org/hwdiag.html ).Please get a head start on the hardware diagnostics - they are located here:  http://www.carrona.org/hwdiag.htmlDaemon Tools (and Alcohol % software) are known to cause BSOD's on some Windows systems (mostly due to the sptd.sys driver, although I have seen both dtsoftbus01.sys and dtscsibus.sys blamed on several occasions). Please un-install the program, then use the following free tool to ensure that the troublesome sptd.sys driver is removed from your system (pick the 32 or 64 bit system depending on your system's configuration):  New link (15 Aug 2012):  http://www.duplexsecure.com/downloads (pick the appropriate version for your system and select "Un-install" when you run it).Alternate link:  http://www.disc-tools.com/download/sptdManual procedure here:  http://daemonpro-help.com/en/problems_and_solutions/registry_and_sptd_problems.htmlAnalysis:The following is for informational purposes only.[font=lucida console]**************************Thu Jun 11 20:20:10.037 2015 (UTC - 4:00)**************************

Hi,

Well the title is pretty self-explanatory. It mostly happens when I leave idle/play CS:GO for a long time.
(e.g. i will play CS in the early afternoon, leave the house while CS is in the menuscreen-or let me lil bro play-, come back late night, have a game, crash)

PS: I must add it's a pretty old device. Had not been used for a few years because of a faulty videocard. Summer of 2013 I put a new VGA on it, some extra RAM, fresh windows 7, and a few months ago I bought a 2ndhand AMD 64 x2 cpu from eBay.)

Karma coming your way =)

So that's it. I've been having random BSODs for a month now. I used Bluescreenview and it accused halmacpi.dll and ntkrnlpa.exe to be causing the problem but I couldn't find much information about them on the internet.

I even reinstalled windows but after a while it started BSODing again.

It seems to be video card related cause I read about someone having a similar problem so I uninstalled ATI Catalyst and the BSODs decreased in how often they appear but it hasn't solved the problem.

Could anyone help me with this one?

Tks in advance.

A:Random BSODs for a month, 0x000000a and 0x100008e

Code:
BugCheck A, {c0120098, 2, 1, 82cf648e}

Probably caused by : memory_corruption ( nt!MiIdentifyPfn+1ed )

Code:
Usual causes: Kernel mode driver, System Service, BIOS, Windows, Virus scanner, Backup tool, compatibility
memory_corruption doesn't necessary mean that a RAM module is faulty, it can also point to a object which corrupted the RAM at the time of the crash, for instance a corrupted driver or program. Paging files and the CPU caches can also be causes.

Follow these steps -

Test for any corrupted drivers, by running Driver Verifier for least 24 hours, stop the test if a BSOD occurs before this time frame. Driver Verifier will place stress on the drivers within your system, which will cause corrupted drivers to crash and hopefully be pinpointed.Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable
More Help and Information with Driver Verifier - Using Driver Verifier to identify issues with Drivers

Memory:RAM - Test with Memtest86+
Run Memtest86+ for least 7-8 passes, and preferably overnight as it can take a while to fully complete.

Test each RAM stick individually, if an error is found then move the same RAM stick into the next DIMM slot and test again, if errors are found for the same RAM stick in every available slot then you have a faulty RAM module. On the other hand, if no errors are found in the next slot or the other slots for the same RAM module, then you have a faulty DIMM slot.

Test each RAM stick and every motherboard DIMM slot available.

Upload .NFO file:

Start > Type: msinfo32 > File, Save

The current file which is uploaded is reported as corrupted for some reason.

Typically caused by a bad block in the paging file or disk controller error.

Lets run a chkdsk, and a sfc.
Run a system file check to verify and repair your system files.
To do this type cmd in search, then right click to run as administrator, then
SFC /SCANNOW

Read here for more information SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Let us know the results from the report at the end.

A- CHKDSK /R /F:

Run CHKDSK /R /F from an elevated (Run as administrator) Command Prompt.

Do this for each hard drive on your system.

B- Elevated Command Prompt:

Go to Start and type in "cmd.exe" (without the quotes)

At the top of the Search Box, right click on Cmd.exe and select "Run as administrator"
C-CHKDSK LogFile:

Go to Start and type in "eventvwr.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter

Expand the Windows logs heading, then select the Application log file entry.

Double click on the Source column header.

Scroll down the list until you find the Chkdsk entry (wininit for Win7) (winlogon for XP).

Copy/paste the results into your next post.

Caused by your wlite.exe (xp webcam driver) and some really old drivers

Update these

How To Find Drivers:

Quote:
- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.

- - The most common drivers are listed on this page: Driver Reference Driver Reference
- - Driver manufacturer links are on this page: Drivers and Downloads

I built this computer about a year ago, and I've had BSODs every one or two weeks for just as long. The problem is that I've never been able to tie them to one program, one driver, or one piece of hardware. All of the diagnostics and general health checks I've run on the system and its hardware come out clean.

Usually the BSODs are far enough apart that I forget about them until the next one comes up, but I've had three or four in the last week alone. Virus scanner shows nothing, and the dump reports through BlueScreenView remain unhelpful because all of the drivers involved seem to be essential system drivers and processes. There's got to be something behind all this, but I can't figure out what. Any suggestions?

I have been experiencing frequent - several times per day - crashes, for different reasons. Even had a failure while trying to register for this forum.

Any assistance greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum cranburysquash,

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable!:-

If this does not provide stability. Test RAM.

Take memtest. Run for 8 passes and test each stick in a know good slot for an additional 6 passes.
RAM - Test with Memtest86+

Quote:
The goal is to test all the RAM sticks and all the motherboard slots.

Check your motherboard manual to ensure the RAM sticks are in the recommended motherboard slots. Some motherboards have very specific slots required for the number of RAM sticks installed.

If you get errors, stop the test and continue with the next step.

1. Remove all but one stick of RAM from your computer (this will be RAM stick #1), and run Memtest86 again, for 7 passes.*Be sure to note the RAM stick, use a piece of tape with a number, and note the motherboard slot.
If this stick passes the test then go to step #3.

2. If RAM stick #1 has errors, repeat the test with RAM stick #2 in the same motherboard slot.*If RAM stick #2 passes, this indicates that RAM stick #1 may be bad. If you want to be absolutely sure, re-test RAM stick #1 in another known good slot.
*If RAM stick #2 has errors, this indicates another possible bad RAM stick, a possible motherboard slot failure or inadequate settings.
3. Test the next stick of RAM (stick #2) in the next motherboard slot.*If this RAM stick has errors repeat step #2 using a known good stick if possible, or another stick.
*If this RAM stick has no errors and both sticks failed in slot#1, test RAM stick #1 in this slot.
4. If you find a stick that passes the test, test it in all the other motherboard slots.

If Part 2 testing shows errors, and all tests in Part 3 show errors, you will need to test the RAM sticks in another computer and/or test other RAM in your computer to identify the problem.

In this way, you can identify ... Read more

Over the past couple of months I have been getting blue screens a few times a week. Attached I have a screenshot from bluescreenview as well as details on each of the minidumps. Any suggestions on what could be causing the varying BSODs? Is it likely a hardware or software issue? Things I have already tried:

1. Clean windows install
2. New Antivirus Program
3. New Ram / Adjusting Ram speed, voltage, timings
4. New hard drive
5. Updating all system drivers / video card drivers

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks.

Computer was bought already assembled in the shop, BSOD happens randomly once in a month.
OS Windows 7 Home Basic x64.

A:random BSODs once in a month, error code 0x44

The crashes are related to your Smb 2.0 Server driver. I wonder whether Symantec is the cause. I see it is the antivirus you are using, and server based issues can be due to conflicts with security software. Try contacting Symantec and seeing if they have seen problems related to the Smb 2.0 Server driver before.

Also, there are some hotfixes available through support.microsoft.com related to Smb 2.0 Server driver. I am unable to access any right now to determine which might help because support.microsoft.com seems to be down temporarily. I will try to find the links later after you contact Symantec. You may even want to mention the hotfixes to Symantec to see if they know about them. Maybe they can help you through support to get the hotfixes installed.

I've been having problems with random BSOD's mostly while playing games They (ongoing playing while browsing BSODs 6 month games, problem) started around march this year as far as I remember Thing I have done so far -formated hard drives twice and reinstalled Windows zeroed once -ran memtest couple of times with every stick tested solo around hours of testing altogether with BSODs while playing games, browsing (ongoing 6 month problem) no errors -ran chdsk scannow hdtune mhdd boot test crystaldiskinfo all with no problems detected -cleaned whole box with vacuum cleaner and compressed air -put both GPU and memory sticks out and in -updated bios drivers Computer is years old now and same problem persisted with next windows instalation I did complete hdd format every instalation There were a lot of errors most of them related to drivers but some were just stop errors with some random error codes I have a lot of errors in games I think exceptionally lot since I never had so many errors before I tried to downgrade my nvidia drivers to but it didn't really help there is a known problem with nvidia drivers I'd be really grateful if you could help me with that problems It's been bugging me for over half year with couple of BSODS almost everyday and I can't afford to buy a new PC

I am running windows Home Premium bit I built this computer back at the end of January-all new parts Within the first month I received BSODs consisting of Page Fault in Nonpaged Area and Memory Management happened twice and did the Windows Memory Diagnostic and Memtest and found that I had issues with my Memory After swapping out my memory each time with new I would go about weeks and then I would get more BSODs The types of BSODs that Several Exception, Service Memory last BSODs in Mgmt, month-System etc I am getting Several BSODs in last month-System Service Exception, Memory Mgmt, etc are SYSTEM SERVICE EXCEPTION SYSTEM THREAD-EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED MEMORY MANAGEMENT PAGE FAULT IN NONPAGED AREA PFN LIST CORRUPT The most recent system service exception was when I was booting up windows last night They all seem to happen at random times I could be browsing the internet or I could step away and come back to find that an error occurred To try to debug the Memory Management and Page Fault BSODs since with my researching I found that a common reason for this is bad memory I once again ran Windows Memory Diagnostic and found no Hardware errors and I let Memtest run for hours and found no errors If anyone has insight as to why these may be happening I would greatly appreciate it

A:Several BSODs in last month-System Service Exception, Memory Mgmt, etc

These crashes were caused by memory corruption/exception (Cx05) probably a driver.
Please run these two tests to verify your memory and find which driver is causing the problem.I understand you have done memtest already so start with verifier.

* If you are overclocking anything reset to default before running these tests.
In other words STOP!!!

* If you have a Raid update its Driver.

Memtest.

Quote:
*Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program. Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

*Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5-7 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.

Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

Any errors are indicative of a memory problem.

If a known good stick fails in a motherboard slot it is probably the slot.

Driver Verifier

Quote:
Using Driver Verifier is an iffy proposition.
Most times it'll crash and it'll tell you what the driver is.
But sometimes it'll crash and won't tell you the driver.
Other times it'll crash before you can log in to Windows.
If you can't get to Safe Mode, then you'll have to resort to offline editing of the registry to disable Driver Verifier.

NOTE: You can use Low Resource Simulation if you'd like.
From my limited experimentation it makes the BSOD's come faster.
- Select "Select driver names from a list" and click "Next"
Then select all drivers NOT provided by Microsoft and click "Next"
- Select "Finish" on the next page.

If you are using win 8 add these
- Concurrency Stress Test
- DDI compliance checking

Reboot the system and wait for it to crash to the Blue Screen.
Continue to use your system normally, and if you know what causes the crash, do that repeatedly.
The objective here is to get the system to crash because Driver Verifier is stressing the drivers out.
If it doesn't crash for you, then let it run for at least 36 hours of continuous operation.
Reboot into Windows (after the crash) and turn off Driver Verifier by going back in and selecting "Delete existing settings" on the first page, then locate and zip up the memory dump file and upload it with your next post.
If you can't get into Windows because it crashes too soon, try it in Safe Mode.
If you can't get into Safe Mode, try using System Restore from your installation DVD to set the system back to the previous restore point that you created.

Thanks to JCGriff2 & Usasma.

Two issues need addressing before we can investigate the underlying issue.

1-sptd.sys.

Please remove any CD visualization programs such as Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120%.

They use a driver, found in your dmp, called sptd.sys, that is notorious for causing BSODs.

Use this SPTD uninstaller DuplexSecure - Downloads DuplexSecure - FAQ

when you're done you can use this Freeware:

MagicISO Virtual CD/DVD-ROM (MagicDisc) in its place

Using MagicISO to create ISO image files

How To Find Drivers:

Quote:
- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.

Hi there, I've been having problems with an inherited computer recently, I got it after the owner said they were experiencing problems and the repair guys estimated it would cost as much as a computer to fix so they bought a new one.

I think this was just a case of lazyness by the repair guys so I took it home and tried to start it. it wouldn't boot into windows so formated I loaded windows 7 U 66 and boom it worked.

Now I've had a few BSODS on it and updated what I could with different websites from microsoft and HP I can't figure out what is causing it
ranging from "irql not less or equal" to "fage fault in non paged area" and "bad pool header"

Any Ideas?

I have a custom built computer. It BSODs frequently or freezes with "Display driver has stopped working and has recovered successfully". It's been happening since I first got it and I'm not sure why it's happening. Most of the time it BSODs with an error pointing to atikmpag.sys.

I already tried running memtest86 (no errors), using driver sweeper to uninstall and reinstall the ATI drivers, formatting windows, but no luck. It's very frustrating as I have to deal with the BSODs and freezes everyday.

The problem is more likely than not hardware related.

First, try this graphics stress test - Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark - Windows 7 Forums

If that does not cause any issues, try these graphics memtests - [email protected] - DownloadUtils

I would recommend you try to test at least 75% of the graphics memory, although you may have to do less than that (not all is accessible).

Here are the basic usage instructions:

Quote:

2. BASIC USAGE

MemtestCL is available for Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X-based machines. In the
following directions, please replace "MemtestCL" with the name of the program
included in the distribution for your operating system.

MemtestCL is a command line application; to run it, start it from a command
prompt (Start->Run->cmd in Windows, Terminal.app in OS X). For basic operation,
just run it from the command prompt:

MemtestCL

By default, MemtestCL will test 128 megabytes of memory on the first OpenCL
device on the first OpenCL platform found, running 50 iterations of its tests.
On typical machines, each iteration will complete in under 10 seconds with
these parameters (the speed will vary both with the speed of the card tested
and the amount of memory tested). The amount of memory tested and number of
test iterations can be modified by adding command line parameters as follows:

MemtestCL [amount of RAM in megabytes] [number of test iterations]

For example, to run MemtestCL over 256 megabytes of RAM, with 100 test
iterations, execute the following command:

MemtestCL 256 100

Be aware that not all of the memory on your video card can be tested, as part
of it is reserved for use by the operating system, and (as of this writing)
both ATI and NVIDIA OpenCL drivers severely restrict the amount of memory
available to an OpenCL program running on a GPU. If too large a test region
is specified, the program will print a warning and quit. Also, if the tested
GPU is currently driving a graphical desktop, the driver may impose time
limits on test execution such that tests over very large test regions will
time out. Timeouts or other execution errors will be trapped and will cause
the test to terminate early. Due to the currently immature state of OpenCL
implementations, they may also cause the program to crash.

Going to try here one more time before I scrap this computer About a month get over a help for month. to Trying ago I got the quot fake anti-virus quot virus I ve seen it called the quot Rogue anti virus quot I deleted the virus presumably but major damage seems to be irreversible Computer is extremely slow Trying to get help for over a month. now it seems to by constantly running something making a lot of noise lights flashing etc Under task manager nothing unusual is running Just getting firefox to open is a major chore as it usually results in quot program is not responding quot Exe files no longer work If I place a video game into the disc Trying to get help for over a month. try the installer will not open For example a blizzard game will come up as quot blizzardinstaller exe quot under task manager but then it will close within seconds I also have problems launching about of exe programs that are already installed and if they do launch then they are impossible to use due to the lag which use to never be a issue The virus deleted all system restore points when it deleted the system restore program In its current state this computer is almost impossible to work on super laggy Ideally I would like to do a full system restore I don t have a disc Is there a way to do a full system restore on Win during the start up process I ve tried the majority of the F keys but have yet to find anything Thanks

I have a media rota as an Excel spreadsheet for tech team activities for Sundays at my church I want to highlight using conditional formatting the first Sunday of the month and to colour-band alternate months I could do this manually each time I issue the rota but it would save a little time if the colours could automatically be set when I determine the activity dates The rota covers four months at a time see attached I set the starting date by typing into cell A I know how to use Conditional Formatting but don t know how to calculate the first Sunday The quot first Sunday quot formatting would of course be applied to all dates in the First Day a in Month A column and the banding to all cells between A and F so there are four cells that would need to accommodate both - but maybe I m running before I can walk I use Excel in Office running under WinXPPro I am an experienced Excel user but I don t do VBA nbsp

All look rather disk-related. A couple of things you should do:

Magic ISO driver shows up occasionally as fault. You're using the very old version of it which predates both Windows 7 RTM and retail. You'd best update it or get rid of it altogether as it's bound to be causing some problems, if not these.
Clean inside of your PC. Reconnect cables - especially drive cables.
If these recommendations do not resolve things, then I recommend turning on Driver Verifier. Do not select the following checks: Force Pending I/O Requests, IRP Logging, and Low Resource Sim. Select all other checks. Make sure to restart system after you finish setup. If you experience a boot loop afterwards, go into Safe Mode by pressing F8 prior to Windows logo and disable DV there. Provide us any new crashdumps.

From getting blue screens when connecting headphones, computer waking up randomly and unable to shut it down, screen freezes, Bluetooth malfunctions, wifi performance issues, etc. My XPS 15 has been replaced 3 times within 2 weeks. Other coworkers have similar issues as well. It is incredible. Next time I will get an apple with windows 10 via bootcamp.

A:Autofilter on month in VBA

why don't you add 2 columns to your data, one for Month and one for Quarter
for quarter:
=ROUNDUP(MONTH(A2)/3,0)

for Month
=Month("A2")
Then use 2 combo's for either Month or Quarter...disable the other when one is selected...don't see a need for a select statement.

Hello.
Last night I received my 3rd blue screen error in about a month. That one and the previous one said "system service exception (netio.sys)." I forget if the first time this happened the error listed the same.

Anyway, here's my log file (I hope it's alright. It saved on it's own with no prompts).

I'm working on an Acer R3-131T laptop with 4GB RAM. As far as I know, I have the most updated drivers. My computer came equipped with the "Acer Care Centre" which hasn't listed new updates for a month or so. Going directly to Acer's website there weren't any new updates that seemed applicable to me at this time.

I understand from reading another thread that some drivers aren't 100% compatible with Win10, and I'm assuming that's the issue here; just not sure which one(s) I need to do anything with.

Thanks in advance for your time!

So around February I decided to buy parts and build my first P C It has been running very good in the month in few A last the BSOD's last few months with minimal to no problems Being an IT major I manage to take extra cautious care of my P C and attempt to troubleshoot and repair A few BSOD's in the last month any problems that occur However in the last month alone there have been several BSOD's that are concerning me I've managed to find some decent information about these errors but I cannot seem to fix the issue at hand I am unsure whether or not it is a software issue or a hardware issue that is causing the BSOD's but I wish to believe that it is a software issue To explain how the errors began I must inform you that I have been patiently awaiting a MMO game to be localized here in America Called PSO However due to my impatience and lack of localization information as well as delays I downloaded the Japanese version of the game as well as English patches in order to be able to do as much as possible in the game The download was slow as to be expected of a foreign game as well as the updating process but after downloading a tweaker for the game running it and tweaking the game to apply the English patches I was able to play with seemingly no problems whatsoever However a few days had passed and after utilizing the tweaker to both adjust the game to be in English as much as possible and launch the game I began getting some strange errors on my p c and didn't quite put and together I decided to record my gameplay using camtasia recorder while having firefox open so I could post the video online shortly afterward The recording was successful but for some odd reason was saving very slowly until my computer ave me a Stop Error BSOD I thought my p c as just overdoing it and had to shut everything down because of stress or heat it was a very hot day I figured my processor was overheating despite not being overclocked I ran scans checked my hard disk using chkdsk as well as the Error checking tool and found nothing out of the ordinary I could have just been reading it all wrong also I decided to manually patch the game and not utilize the tweaker anymore which was obviously a bad thing as when I launched the game unfortunately using the tweaker my computer crashed again After this I figured the game was to blame and deleted it along with the tweaker off of my computer Afterwards my computer didn't seem to have much noticeable trouble besides the monitor not turning on after awakening from sleep mode and me having to power it down by holding the power button so I decided to re-download PSO blaming the tweaker for the stop errors and using it only once to install the English patch My P C ran well though over time I noticed slow down I looked at my task manager and noticed that one of my scvhost exe processes was running EXTREMELY high running at approximately k which it usually runs at k- k After restarting my computer it went back down but I noticed that after playing PSO it would rise and not go back down until I restarted my computer I figured I couldn't run PSO for too long or as often and would take breaks to give my p c a break as well A few days later PSO prompted me for an update to which I applied it but then had to re-utilize the tweaker to reinstall the English patch After which my p c didn't show any signs of problems besides the rising memory usage of the scvhost exe process After a few hours I decided to let my computer go into sleep mode to which it replied with another blue screen After my computer restarted I promptly deleted the tweaker uninstalled PSO and deleted its file folders in my programs folder and decided to not download it again Afterwards I checked my discs again looked around online for help with some of the errors though unable to get an accurate answer I ran scans from both avast internet security and a free version of malware bytes I know two antiviruses don't run well together so I didn't run them at... Hi, I've spent a couple of days trying to solve this problem now with nothing to show for my troubles. I have found many many posts linking to this forum so I figured this is my best option.

My PC is on 24 hours a day and about once a month my PC has restarted and I get the "Your computer has recovered from a serious error" message. It usually happens when the PC is not being used but has also happened when I have been using it.

I have uploaded the very easy to use DM Log Collector file and hope someone can help me.

Thanks
Chris

There are 35 items to auto-start with windows. Free up the startup. Windows does not need any other program to auto start with it, but the auto start programs often conflicts and causes various problems including BSODs.
Click on the Start button
Type ?msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
Select the ?Startup? tab.
Deselect all items other than the antivirus.
Apply > OK
Accept then restart.
Report us for any further BSOD with the cleaned up startup folder.

Hello,

For the third time in 3 months I had to reinstall a Toshiba Satellite Pro with Windows XP. After about 3 to 4 weeks the laptop starts and stops at the startup. It keeps hanging by loading the personal settings. When I use the save mode it still keeps hanging. The only way to get it running again is to install windows XP again. Does anybody know what is going on?

Thanks for the anwer.

A:XP freezes after one month

Hi Molema,

Have you installed Windows XP from Toshiba recovery disk or normal Microsoft installation disk?

To be honest it?s hard to say why it happens but I think it?s software related issue. Nobody knows what programs you have installed? Probably it was also a virus or Trojan. If you install XP again I would recommend a good antivirus software like AntiVir or something else.

I just noticed one of the local IP month... a DMZ for Had like open s on my router changed awhile ago probably from a power outage Had DMZ open for like a month... And that what I thought was my Xbox IP that was DMZ d On was actually my Laptop And it was like this for a good month My wireless laptop in which the DMZ was on is Vista and always had the latest windows updates virus updates - norton malware protection and all that Just wondering how hard easy it would of been for a hacker to gain access during that period of around a month I did not have FTP ing going on or anything like that Just wondering if hackers would of been able to see the sites I accessed during that time and stuff or anything similar Every site I checked regarding this issue before posting was pretty vague about what a hacker could of done in this instance The thing that sucks about having a linksys wireless router is they make ya paranoid because you could view the Incoming Log from the router And the Incoming Log always has weird activity like the other day some IP from China was trying to access or maybe was accessing the webcache port I guessing they never had access and it was blocked from the router but how do I know for sure Seems like newer routers and the more popular ones don t even have the Incoming Log feature any help on all this is much appreciated nbsp

A:Had DMZ open for like a month...

Just look at it as the same thing as your having been connected directly to the internet, as many people are. The router adds an extra layer of protection, but your PC should be well enough protected by itself to be able to be connected to the net.

So, the chances are slim, even if someone knew your IP address and came after you specifically. Whether they could even find an open port due to your firewall settings is even another question. And why would your machine even present as a target? Do you have the plans for the big, new weapon on your hard drive? Other than CC numbers, which they can get by easier methods, most hackers would consider hacking you a waste of time (nothing personal). It's a far more productive use of the hacker's precious time to go after things that are already known to pay off.

I have one machine, for special purposes, that I run through the DMZ all the time. No damage to report yet!

A couple of MS employees were supposedly fired over leaks. Whether true or not, it apparently had the desired effect of scaring others from leaking. A Guy

I got Windows7 RC1 64bit, I got a new Spanish/English dictionary that runs with Windows7 64bit, I managed to get my region-free DVD player installed and playing nice with Windows Media Player, and I got a Unicomp keyboard delivered from the U.S. I'm on a real role.

FWIW, I think Microsoft fixed the problem for me with the DVD player between beta and RC1.

Hey there guys,

For the last month I have been encountering several bluescreens and I can't find the cause of it.
Late november I updated my Nvidia Graphics card and then it all started happening, although I'm not sure if this is the cause. I tried to install some new drivers but it still keeps bluescreening after a while.
Also my fan of my power supply was broken so I got a new one for that aswell and that also didn't fixed my problem.
I have been looking on several forums and internetpages but I couldn't find the problem.
I put a link from Speccy (http://speccy.piriform.com/results/x...UJJfEWi6u0XVmt) and a log from Bluescreenview here.
I really hope you guys can solve my problem!

Regards,

Yosika

I am sorry to ask such a simple question but has anyone received updates since 9/12 for Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit? I have not had a single update for almost a month. Does this seem odd? I just registered to receive emails from Microsoft whenever updates are released. Maybe then I can see if I am not receiving them for some reason.

If you have any thoughts, I'd appreciate it!

Hi Landon,

You might check how your updating is set up

Windows Update - Windows Automatic Updating

and make sure you have the latest version of WUAgent

How to obtain the latest version of the Windows Update Agent to help manage updates on a computer

Hope it helps

A:Win 7 is crashing after only ONE month

Hi Vixen408 and welcome to TSF.

Are you able to get into Safe Mode? Tap or hold F8 as your computer first starts up. You should then be presented with a few options. Choose Safe Mode. If the computer then opens (it may look slightly different) post back for further instruction.

Also, do you have you Windows 7 disk? What is the make and model of your computer?

three or four more BSODs
I tried to debugg myself, but I really am at the end of my patience with this thing....
I updated my gfx drivers about 2 weeks ago, also updated my atk package with the one off of the ASUS support site.
last re-installed windows in late december/early jan.

you can ignore the 2 .dmps from january, and any that point to daemon tools, as I uninstalled that a while ago.

A:[SOLVED] three more in a month.

I have DV running, and I plan on running memtest86+ overnight. unfortunately, it always seems that it only has problems right when finals roll around... I think my laptop has a sadistic streak....

Hi guys I was told to post my question in here by the guys in the chatroom Not sure if this problem! 5-month old is the correct bit so please redirect me if not Since around January I have had problems with Windows Vista Home on my pc The computer seemed to work fine while my brother had it but has taken a dislike to me for some reason It has been inundated with viruses and trojans and I have so far spent close to on pc repairs and call-outs and have had my bank account hacked into through the internet banking site and no I didn t give out any details or click on any weird links which initially made me aware that I had some sort of trojan virus on my pc The repair guys said they had removed several nasty things from the pc and it should be working fine They installed AVG anti-virus 5-month old problem! I ve also had numerous discussions on the phone with microsoft technical help and paid for someone to come to my house to take a look as I wondered if I had set something up wrong myself Most of the other problems were resolved but the one that keeps returning is the stupid message when I try to use the internet It will run okay for a minute or two then the page goes blank and it tells me Microsoft Explorer has stopped working and it closes itself Then I get another message saying Explorer is restarting and a new page comes up This week I tried a system restore as suggested on another forum to no avail I have pretty much given up and run out of money One of the guys in the chatroom suggested I use FireFox instead of Explorer so I am giving that a go and will see what happens I use my pc to write and although I try to keep a seperate backup on another pc these are never completely up to date as I edit and rewrite continuously I don t want to have to wipe everything from the pc as one of the repair shop guys suggested I am a complete novice when it comes to computers so be gentle

A:5-month old problem!

Thought i should add... after installing Firefox, I haven't had that message all afternoon whilst using the internet, but a minute ago it finally caught up with me and everything shut down once again! It seems that Firefox hasn't solved the problem entirely

Hi,

Two attached dumps, one from this month and the other from June. Both are faulting L1E60x64.sys which is the Atheros AR8121/AR8113/AR8114 PCI-E Ethernet Controller driver.

I'd recommend updating your networking drivers to their latest version. Atheros is really annoying with their drivers as they're hard to track down at times.

Check:

or

ATHEROS drivers for Microsoft Windows (Atheros?????)

After getting an EA430 at newegg and being very satisfied, it suddenly died on me while playing TF2. It is really weird and forced me to revert back to my old PSU which meant uninstalling my 3850 as well. Should PSUs die so quickly? I thought Antec was a reliable company. Did I just get unlucky and get the 1/100,000 faulty PSU?

A:PSU died after a month

just bad luck
the PSU is good enough for your system
but add another drive and I say you need 500 to 600 watts
I don't know what you need for the vid card
I always go 30% more in power when building a system

i leave my computer on 24/7. It has a 400 Watt power supply and i have 1 17" LCD LG flatron monitor which i physically turn off during the night. I was wondering what exactly it would cost each month on my power bill. It cost 6 cents per killowatt per hour.

A:How much will it cost a month

Ok,

Power to run HD: 400 Watts

Energy = Power * Time
Energy = 400W * 744 (31 days)
Energy = 0.4kW * 744
Energy = 297.6kWh

Cost = 297.6 * 6cents
Cost = 1786cents / $17.86 approx

---------------------------------

Power to run screen: 40 Watts

Energy = Power * Time
Energy = 40W * 434 (31 days with screen off for 9hrs while you sleep)
Energy = 0.04kW * 434
Energy = 17.36kWh

Cost = 17.36 * 6cents
Cost = 104cents / $1.04 approx

----------------------------------

Total Cost per month(approx) = Cost of Running Screen + Cost of Running HD
Total Cost per month(approx) = $1.04 + $17.86
Total Cost per month(approx) = $18.90

Hope that helped?

Hello and welcome Tian mate run Speccy and see what the CPU temp is too mate and just how old is this machine??
Speccy - Download < download from piriform.

Because this is such a random seemingly one off incidents and that you cured for a while one thing maybe it is easy fixed. On the other hand it may well be something more involved.

A:Going to build my first pc in a month or two...

Looks decent.

* You can get the video card cheaper if you don't need that exact one. The 9600GTs should be able to be found for ~$130 on Newegg.

* That power supply isn't very good. Look at Corsair's 650W single rail one, or any 475W or above from brands like Enermax, Antec, PC Power&Cooling...

* Probably not worth your money for that CPU cooler. Since you are looking at a Retail CPU it will come with a stock heatsink and fan which will probably be about the same performance as that Rosewill one. If you aren't going to overclock you can get by with the stock heatsink and fan just fine. If you are going to overclock you'll want a better one than the Rosewill.

* I've had a case like that (2 actually) with the rear exhaust fan area being really 2 levels (see here) and its more difficult than it should be to put in a fan because you can't actually hold the screw while you are putting it through 2 of the holes. Its not a HUGE deal, and it can be done, its just harder than I'd like. I would suggest considering any of the tool less cases (which really only mean you don't screw in hds and cd drives) they are much better to work with. The price is slightly higher, but I saved you $20 on the HSF, so maybe look at something like this. Shipping on those things is outrageous, but occationally they will do free shipping, so be on the look out for that. Also if you order from Newegg, they don't charge you shipping for each individual part and add them up, they charge for what it costs to ship them all together. So if you are going to order a case without free shipping it will save you some money overall if you order several other parts at the same time.

Hello,

I have got BSOD on my laptop every month. I can't find solution. I'll be glad for any help.

My laptop is:

LENOVO TP Edge E540 20C6003V
Windows 8.1 Pro 64b OEM
1,5 year old
reinstalled half year ago
I replaced original HDD to 256GB SSD.

I attached dump files and sysnative files.

Thanks.

A:BSOD every month

Hi,

Ok so all 3 dump files have traces of ESET antivirus and 2 of the 3 minidump files directly blame an ESET driver as the culprit.

Try reinstalling and updating ESET or uninstalling it completely if you don't mind. I realize it's a paid antivirus and that you probably want to keep it. Some information about the drivers below:

Recently built a new PC, and it works excellently well however over the last 3 weeks I've had 4 BSOD's all with the same bugcheck error code from Event Log

I don't know how it starts or what triggers it. It simply runs into the issue every few days and restarts all on its own

Hi guys and gals.

Recently had to delete 0ver 550,000 .tmp files from Windows\TEMP folder for my friend. These were all generated between 29/12/09 and yesterdays date.

The O.S. is XP Home SP3 fully updated.

What on earth would cause this grevious and system threatening load of TEMP files. I know how to remove them, and have left an easy to understand set of instructions for my friend to be able to follow regularly as required.

But really want to snuff out the problem entirely

Cheers

Hello. I'm from Thailand. I purchase Dell Inspiron 7559-W560626TH on February. Assuming your purchase price actually included a 15-month McAfee subscription and not just a 30-day free trial (Check your invoice.), you should read this:

A:Three Month Old Computer First Hijack This

Hello Xolias,

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad since you will not have any of browsers open while you are fixing this.

Before we begin, let's move HiJackThis to it's own folder; like c:\HJT. When we're done 'cleaning' off your system, we're going to 'flush' the temporary folders which, with HiJackThis in it's current location, we'll lose both the program and the backups it creates. These backups are important in case we need to restore any 'fixed' entry(s) later.

---------------------------

The Temp folders should be cleaned out periodically as installation programs and hijack programs leave a lot of junk there. Download CleanUp! (Alternate Link if main link doesn't work) and install it. Do not run it yet.

---------------------------

Go to My Computer->[B]Tools[B]->Folder Options->View tab:
* Under the Hidden files and folders heading:
* select Show hidden files and folders.
* Uncheck Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
* Click Yes to confirm and then click OK.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Use the up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode and press Enter.

---------------------------

Uninstall the following via the Add/Remove Panel (Start->(Settings)->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs) if they exist:

Acoona

Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any):

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://us.rd.yahoo.com/customize/ie...rch/search.html
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://us.rd.yahoo.com/customize/ie...//www.yahoo.com
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://us.rd.yahoo.com/customize/ie...//www.yahoo.com
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://us.rd.yahoo.com/customize/ie...rch/search.html
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://us.rd.yahoo.com/customize/ie...//www.yahoo.com

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [LDM] \Program\

Delete the following Folder

C:\Program Files\Accoona

---------------------------

Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu). Set the program up as follows:
*Click "Options..."
*Move the arrow down to "Standard CleanUp!"
*Uncheck the following:
-Delete Newsgroup cache
-Delete Newsgroup Subscriptions
-Scan local drives for temporary files
Click OK
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program. Reboot/logoff when prompted.
Note: CleanUp! deletes EVERYTHING out of your temp/temporary folders, it does not make backups. If you have any documents or programs that are saved in any Temporary Folders, please make a backup of these before running CleanUp! If you have a 64 bit Operating System do NOT run Cleanup and let me know as we will use another utility

Reboot into Normal Mode.

Please run an online scan at http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/activescan.htm *Requires Internet Explorer.
Make sure you click the "Free Online Virus Scan" in the upper right hand corner of the page under the Fr... Read more

I'm assuming your hardware can handle Windows 7? From what I can glean from your specs, it looks like it should.Did you run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor? Were you able to find all the Windows 7 drivers you need? When you say it ran XP fine, but Windows 7 quibbles, it makes me lean towards possible hardware incompatibilities, driver issues, etc...

You don't have all the necessary files attached. Please run the BSOD Dump & System File Collection app from the below link and upload the .rar file.

Drivers
The following drivers need to be updated:

Code:
VSTBS26.SYS Thu Oct 16 11:54:06 2008
VSTCNXT6.SYS Thu Oct 16 11:52:22 2008
VSTDPV6.SYS Thu Oct 16 11:57:45 2008
e1e6232e.sys Sat Jun 06 05:08:41 2009
nvlddmkm.sys Fri May 15 06:48:07 2009
teamviewervpn.sys Thu Dec 13 20:22:09 2007
These drivers can be found by searching them in Google and then finding the associated software or driver. Finally, find the latest version of this driver or software and download and install it. Some of the drivers may also be found here (if the driver says 'Windows Update' simply make sure all Windows Updates are installed).

You should also update any other drivers you can think of including graphics, audio, chipset, SSD etc.
Software
You have AVG installed, is that correct? At least to test, uninstall it and install MSE (Microsoft Security Essentials) instead.
Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows
Hardware
Test your RAM using Memtest86+. Let it run until 6-8 passes have completed or errors have been found.

A:5 month old pc acting wonky

Hello and welcome to BleepingComputer! My name is Thisisu and I will be helping you with your malware related computer problems.I do have some basic rules while we are working together so please read and follow them:Be specific!
If you come across a problem while performing any of the steps listed here, do not simply state "It did not work." Tell me the exact error you encountered if one was given to you. For example, this is a much better response: "When I ran the ____ tool, an error box appeared on my screen and said 'Illegal operation attempted on a registry key that has been marked for deletion.'. There is only an 'OK' button in the box."Do not run any scans/fixes on your own!
If at any time you feel that you can handle the rest of your computer problems on your own without my help, just let me know! I will not be offended as there are others that need help with their computers. However, do not perform scans and/or fixes that I have not asked you to do on your own and then expect me to continue helping you because I will not!I will close the topic if I have not heard a response from you within 72 hours.
If you are going to be away, just let me know and I will leave the topic open until you can return. Is the computer still bluescreening after setting to factory settings? If so, please upload the files in C:\WINDOWS\Minidump to here or .zip them up and attach them to this thread. Also try to complete the following guide: Preparation Guide For Use Before Using Malware Removal Tools and Requesting HelpRemember to post your logs when finished.

I have changed windows update option as soon as i installed 7 so that i can download and install updates manually.

Anyway, I've been doing updates probably once a week like you should, and for the last month I've not had any updates. Any ideas why?

Thanks
Dan

A:No windows update for the last month

Windows updates only come out on the 2nd Tuesday of the month.
