Nero Burning ROM crashed during burning and now my DVD drive is unusable. I cannot open the drive, I cannot shut down the computer because it says "Waiting for DVD Drive D:" and the drive runs like it is still burning despite the program doing the burning is no longer open. It isn't even in any process. What can I do to make the drive stop?
I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)
Go to Task Manager...shut the system down from there.
Turn system off....hard shutdown if necessary...disconnect the optical drive.
Sounds to me like it's a hardware problem moreso than a software problem if you cannot manually open the drive.
some nero burning user veteran??problem burning cdr ,dvdrs.i cant burn a cdr.with windows media player is posible.also i use clone dvd with sucess. with nero is posible to erase a cdr-w.the problem is i cant record a cdr.when it comes to 3% to 8% the program tell "the burn failed"some advice?thanks for the attention
I am a "Nero Veteran", war veteran, etc.. etc.. The reason your having problems is simple. Some discs cannot be copied, as they may be copy protected or contain errors. If you are unsure if your disc can be copied,
run a trial in the "simulation" mode. Click on "More" at the bottom of the page and select "Simulation".
Ok, i'm new to this CD Burning. I have Nero Express, and i'm having a little problem with it.
I've copied an Audio CD to a CD-R, and it plays fine, but there are still space on it, and i wanted to put a MP3 (it converts to CDA really nice also) together with the already burned tracks, but i can't. Everytime i put the same CD, i get the folloqing message:
"This midia cannot be recorded
Please Insert another midia."
(Sorry if it's not right, cuz i translated from portuguese)
Can i do what i want?? How??
Sorry if it is hard to understand, it is hard to explain.
You cannot append any audio files to an disc that has been completed. Once a disc is completed it cannot access the remaining space. Especially with Nero Express. Once a disc is burned it is "closed (finalized)."
This is just a simple explanation.
I believe Roxio's Easy cd creator lets you add files to your disc as long as you don't "finalize" it. Until you finalize it you will not be able to listen to the music.
Help I have an HP b DVD burner I use the Nero software that came with the burner My system has MB RAM XP SP and a watt power supply I just replaced the IDE data cable for the DVD and CD burners and switched power supply leads The burners use the secondary IDE port The hard drives use the primary The DVD burner is about months old and has burned burning with and HP drive DVD Nero fails 6 disks fairly regularly since I installed it DVD burning fails with HP drive and Nero 6 Some turned out to be quot coasters quot but not to the extent I experience now I also downloaded and installed driver updates from HP and removed the burner from the device list and let XP discover it again I can t get it to burn a DVD The software reports the drive is empty or not ready and I just put a new blank DVD into the drive Or it burns about and fails I have different brands of DVD disks Dynex Fuji and Maxell The Dynex will usually burn at - x the Fuji anywhere from - x and the Maxell usually at x All now fail without completing the task The Nero software will burn a CD nicely even using the new Memorex x burner I got for Christmas Any ideas or suggestions nbsp
I bought a second cd burner today and I want to be able to burn two things at once. I have a 12x Phillips and a 24X cheapie. does anyone know of a good how to site for this? Does anyone know if I will be forced to burn at 12x on both Or can I rig it to burn at 24x by opening another session or using another software altogether. Basically anything you guys have will be of great help.
I have this error with Nero Burning Rom When I use a Multi-Session Created disk which I had already created earlier and insert it into the CD-Writer drive Then I open the Nero Burning Rom Then next when I click on Create Data disk Nero starts searching for the earlier sessions at this time my floppy drive keeps giving a rattling sound This sound stops as amp when Nero lists all old sessions in the Add window access Nero Rom to the tries Burning floppy drive Then when I add files again this sound comes Than at last when Nero stops writing and verifying I again get the sound I dont know if this Nero Burning Rom tries to access the floppy drive problem is occuring with Video Cd s etc as I don t create much of them This is happening in both of my Nero Burning Rom tries to access the floppy drive Operating Systems i e Windows amp Windows XP I am using Nero Burning Rom I had recently added a new Hard Disk to my computer and reinstalled my Operating Systems Now I have HardDisks and Dvd-Rom and Cd-Writer Can these devices be creating the problem too I also changed the Master Slave options of my CD-Writer amp DVD-Rom drive Or can this be an IRQ Problem or Master Slave problem If there is any solution then please tell the process to it nbsp
When you do things like rearrange the master/slave relationship between your drives, you have to tell Nero that. Otherwise you will have problems like you're having now.
For your sound problem go into Preferences>Sounds and uncheck the box that says "Nero is waiting for a disk"
Go into RECORER>Choose Recorder, and make sure the correct arrangement is listed.
CDRW's need to be slaves, DVDRW's need to be masters and CDROM's also need to be Masters. I don't know about DVD Rom's.
I suggest you Contact Nero Tech support for more info...

Hi I have Nero Express on windows Xp.
I have downloaded all of my own cds onto my hard drive and want to make new copys to make it easier for me to DJ. When I drop and drag from My Music to Nero it comes up with....The slected WMA files have protected content......
Please help .
You must have had the 'copy protect' option checked in Windows Media Player (WMP) when you copied them. That means that you will only be able to play them on the machine that they were copied on. You should still have the license for the WMA's on your PC - I would assume that Nero isn't detecting them.
If you can play them in WMP, try using WMP to burn them.
I bought a Dell Inspiron laptop new in Italy in the close burning the and keeps DVDs drive the fails windows burning spinnin When but December from a major computer store The computer came installed with Windows Home Premium Italian and I have installed on it an original version of Microsoft Office When burning DVDs the windows close and the burning fails but the drive keeps spinnin XP Professional Edition English The CD-ROM unit is a Matsushita DVD -RW UJ Since I bought the computer I have sometimes had difficulty burning DVDs with the When burning DVDs the windows close and the burning fails but the drive keeps spinnin built-in Windows burner function that I access from Explorer Often in the past I have ended up with partially written DVDs Nevertheless by using high-quality DVDs I have been able to burn DVDs successfully most of the time using the Windows utility I last used the utility successfully a couple of months ago when I burned a couple of DVDs to backup some photos Since yesterday I have been trying to backup my most important files onto DVDs The attempt has failed in every case First I copy about GB of files from drive C onto drive D in Explorer These are several hundred files divided into three different directories consisting mostly of PDF Word Excel and JPG files some of them with names in foreign scripts like Cyrillic Japanese or Chinese Then I insert a new DVD either Verbatim or TDK and attempt to master the DVD by selecting the option write to disk from the Explorer menu whether from When burning DVDs the windows close and the burning fails but the drive keeps spinnin the menus at the top of the screen or by right-clicking on drive D in the lefthand pane of the screen A window pops up asking me for the name of the disk whether I want it to be flash or one-time only and the recording speed x x x etc Once I click continue to start burning the DVD a window pops up to tell me that Windows is making an image of the disk and then the window tells me that it has begun mastering the disk giving me a countdown of how many minutes are left minutes to minutes depending on the speed I choose But no matter what name I give to the disk and what recording speed I pick after - seconds the popup window and the Explorer window both suddenly close and the DVD unit s writing light goes out but the DVD unit continues to whir at high speed forever Here are the results I got yesterday with separate DVDs On the first DVD I used Windows s burn utility on a Verbatim DVD and I ended up with files burned onto the DVD making it unusable On the second try I used some simple burn software that I had used before Roxio Burn on a TDK DVD and ended up with files burned onto the disk but from different folders than the files burned by Windows On my third attempt after going offline shutting down my antivirus software AVG and using Task Manager to shut down processes from that other burn software Roxio Burn I used Windows s burn utility again on a TDK DVD and ended up with the identical files that had I ended up with the first time though this time I had chosen a lower writing speed In all three of these attempts the DVD unit continued to whir after the windows had closed until such time as I ejected the disk manually When I first encountered this problem yesterday I thought the problem might be caused by my antivirus software AVG Free Edition interfering with the writing process because after one particular automatic update by AVG about two months ago I began having problems with AVG blocking Skype and placing some of my Nokia cell phone software in quarantine But by disabling the HIPS element of AVG I was able to resolve those problems several weeks ago and begin using Skype successfully again But just to be sure today I disinstalled AVG completely and installed Microsoft Security Essentials Because I had read in a forum online that Windows might have conflicts with other burning software that was also installed today I also disinstalled the o... Hi to all,
Here's a strange one, I've just re-formatted my hard drive and re-installed xp ( not the first time, I prefer this to restore ) anyway I've tried to burn three music disc's using new blank cd-r's. I go through all the motions ( using nero 5.5 ) I do my compilation as normal, hit burn and nero " burns " the disc. When I try and play the disk on my walkman I can skip through the track numbers but get no sound. When I check it out on my pc in my computer it says Free space 0 bytes, Total size 0 bytes. I am sure this is not a hardware problem so what else could it be ?
I've been recording sucessfully with the same set up and software in the past, any suggestions welcome and appreciated.
I am using a laptop that is a HP Pavilion dv4 Notebook PC.
The OS being used is the 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium.
I am trying to burn a DVD video file (.vob file) to a DVD disc using Nero Vision Essentials (Nero 9).
After importing the file into the project, I played the video and found that it has no sound.
As a result, when I have successfully burned it to a DVD disc and played this disc on my DVD player, it has also no sound.
Please help me fix this problem!
When i click on Nero Burning ROM, it does not open at all. All that happens is i get a windows error report telling me that nero.exe encountered a problem. I have succesfully used this many times before, but one day it just stopped working.
Any idea of what is wrong?
A simple uninstall and install might help.
I dumped Easy Cd Creator because of conflicts with XP. I am using Nero 5.5, however it doesn't recognize my cd burner. Ive been told it's a stable cd burning program. Is there a wasy I can configure my burner to Nero? Any suggestions are appreciated, thanks, Neesh
Do you have the latest Nero update? http://www.nero.com/en/download.htm
Checked that your recorder is supported? http://www.nero.com/en/recorder.htm
Have you tried the recording program resident in XP?
I have a problem with my LITE-ON LXR 40243 External CD burner, which uses Nero Burning software running on Windows 98SE. Nero Burning records the image and then says burning has successfully completed. But it hasn’t, the burner never starts up. When the device is plugged in the InCD and USB icon comes up okay. I know the system will work as I have had professional tech guys install it and get it running okay. The problem I have is when I reinstall soft ware I can’t get it going. When I quiz the pros about it, they say all I need to do is install the Windows 98 USB driver form the Nero Burning CD. I done this and it doesn’t work for me. Any ideas???
Every time i try to use Nero Burning Rom for creating an ISO file, the program just freezes up on me.
i just got nero 7. when i download video from my video cam it all works fine. if i burn it to a reg cd and view it on the computer all is good, but when i try to burn it to a dvd that can play on any dvd player the video looks fine but the audio is a little off and about every 5 to 10 sec. there is a little flicker. i have tried to goto the nero support, but they suck, sorry to say but i payed for it now and really would like to burn my home video so i can play it on a dvd player.
well i don't know much about burning a dvd but i do know stuff about a regular cd. have you tried using a lower burning speed? because when i burn my cds i use an x1 burning speed.
I've just burned my first CD-RW with Nero 18.104.22.168 Demo. I just wanted to save some backup data. I have burned CD-R's before with Nero and they turned out fine. I just followed the same procedure for the RW cd's as I did for the R cd's. As usual, I did some further 'research' afterward about CD-RW burning and it seems to me that burning RW cd's is more complicated than I thought. Now I'm wondering if I just wasted a disc and effort, by simply doing what I did? Is my newly burned CD-RW useless? What should I do when burning RW's in the future? Thanks.
I am able to burn my music cd's on my newly installed NERO but I could not burn ISO's. Everytime it stops at different stages with different errors like:
I am using the LG Burner that came with my HP Computer.
I have 382 MB of total Ram on my PC and 3 gigs of hard disk free during the process
Just one question - are you closing down all other applications running in the background. Other programs writing to the drive during the disc read / write process are a common cause of this type of error.
Anyone use Nero Burning Rom?
Anyone had a problem dooin Audio tracks??
well heres a problem i cannot get round
when i put my mp3's in the box for them to burn to .cda i put my newly burned cd in a CD player , computer or car sterio and the first track is missing aprox 20 seconds of the song, then coming to the end of the track it contains the first 20 seconds of the second track and so on so basically each track contains the first 20 seconds of the next track to be played at the end of it ..
hes what i have tried..
uninstall reinstall no luck

40 blank CD's
Anyone with a solution please help...thanks
I did my first burn with Nero and the Track shows up when clicking the box titled "display medium information".
However, when clicking on box titled "existing compilation" I can get the files to show up on hard drive, but not the burned CD. Instead I get an error message that says:
"G:\ is not accessible Incorrect function"
Both my CD Reader and my burner both appear to be to be working. The Reader is a make by the name of Hi-Val and the Burner is an Imation 32x (really a Teac generic). I am running 512 mb of ram on a PIII machine and Windows 2000 Professional
What am i doing wrong?
Is there a live chat for Nero somewhere?
Obviously the session wouldn't have shown up if it
didn't burn correctly.

You need to turn DMA on on that drive.
To do that, right-click My Computer on the desktop, select Properties, Hardware tab, Device Manager. Doubleclick on "Secondary IDE Channel" on "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers", then Advanced Settings tab. Set the "Transfer Mode" to "DMA if available".

I have been having some problems burning CDs lately. Nero will go through the motions and successfully burn the CD, but when I go to listen to the CD the tracks will not play. Is this a problem with the software or my burner itself? Is there any kind of test I can do to check and see if my burner is working correctly? In the past CDs created from this burner have successfully worked, which is why this recent problem has been so frustrating. Thanks for any advice or support
You could put the cd in your cd-rom and open my computer. Then right click the cd-rom drive the cd is located in. Click open and check the contents of the cd. They should be called .cda files. Click on one and see if your media player can play the track correctly. Also, you could go to your control panel and click on the system icon. Then go to device manager and click the plus sign next to cd-rom. Right click the cd-writer and click delete. Re-boot your computer to freshly reload the driver for that cd-writer. Also, have you updated your NeroBurning Rom to the newest version? If not, Nero has a update feature built into their installer for there new versions of NeroBurning Rom. Last thing, some of the blank cd's out their are not the greatest quality. I purchased a pack of generic blanks cd's and they would not play my copied music in my cd player. I then purchased a pack of Maxell blank cd's and did the same thing and my music played correctly. It is a trial and error procedure when you encounter weird problems like this. I hope my input was a help to you. If not I apologize for not being able to help you.

I cannot be able to copy a DVD in my Noro Burning cause the DVD is copy protected ie Decoded. How can I be able to decode it so as to copy it.Thanks
You can rip it using MovieJack. This is a trial version good for 15 days. I found it pretty easy to use.
Searched before posting so PLEASE forgive if it's elsewhere already.
Use NERO to convert AVI to MPEG and then burn video DVD's. HOWEVER, can't put file over 700mb onto one disc but know there ARE ways to do it. Is NERO one of them?
You need to put your AVI's into NeroVision Express to convert and burn. You can also create chapter stops and menus etc.
I need help burning a DVD .img file. The thing that confuses me are the presettings to choose from.
Do I select Data Mode 1 or 2?
Do I enable "Raw data"? (If yes, the block size defaults to 2352)
What should the Block size be? 2048 or 2352
I have tried Data mode 1, no raw data, block size 2048 but all I got was a coaster. I could see the correct file structure on the dvd but it wouldn't play at all.
Thank you in advance
Hmmmmmmmm nevermind. I'm now certain it should be Data mode 1, no raw data, and 2048, which I guess meant my image file must've been bad.
I'm using Nero 126.96.36.199, and when I tried to burn a .avi format movie into VCD, The encoding video part took about 3hrs to complete, anyone knows why and how to solve it?
It's gonna take a while, especially on an 833, to encode from what is probably a divx file to vcd. When I do it sometimes it can take an hour or two as well.
Have you done much video encoding in the past? It's not a fast process by any means. I built my last machine with 2 purposes; to encode SVCDs and to play games. I keep the machine very clean - no crap - no antivirus - nothing. Not even an Office application. It still takes me 5 to 6 hours to encode a full movie to SVCD. I don't think anything is broken - it's just what you're gonna get till machines get faster.
I'm using Nero version 5 with a Sony CD burner. I am able to successfully burn all kinds of CD's including Music, Data, Images, etc. The problem is that I am not able to read the newly burned CD's in the same Sony drive that burned it. I have no problem reading the CD's in other computers and have no problem playing the burned music CD's in my car or stereo. The problem only exists when I try to read the CD on the same computer and drive that burned it. Does anybody have a clue what is going on?
P.S. - I've tried a couple of different brands of CD's and they all result in the same problem.
Okay, I have Nero Burning Rom on our old computer because there are a few songs I'd like to burn on it. Well, I'v eused Nero before at my friend's house and I figured out how to burn the cd but it won't finilize it. Since the songs are on the computer (I'm not just burning a cd) I just add them etc. Then it'll go through the burn process and it says it burned sucessfully but it doesn't automaticly finilize it and I've tried everything but it's just being stupid and confusing. So please, does anyone know what I could do? Lol. This was my last resort, if I dson't figure it out soon either I'll trow the computer out the window or just get rid of Nero. *Hee...I have a short temper* Well...please help..and thanks, like always!
i have got blade 2 on my computer. Blade two is seperated into 2 halves of the movie. When im using nero i put the first halve of the movie onto the compileation and it only says that i have used 100 mb when it should be a lot more. So i burn it to disk and the movie i put to disk is supposed to go for 55 minutes but becuase t only said that i used 100 mb of the disk it only plays 15 minuts of the movie. How do i make a proper vcd using nero burning rom version 188.8.131.52?
I have nero 184.108.40.206 installed on my xp(without sp1) system and it keeps on not responding you try to close nero. It does not close you have try and restart the system. I was going to install sp1a for xp but it's corrupt and i will have to download it again but i only have a 56k modem. I was wondering is it doing this because nero need sp1 to work or updating nero might help?
hey guys, i have one of the newer nero's, and i have a problem with burning videos.
i have several say 400mb-1.5gb videos, mostly around 700mb. and im trying to make a DVD out of my .AVI's. the problem im having is that when i had 5 of the AVI's with the make a movie option, it says that it needs 30gb's of space to write on the dvd! i selected all the files via win explorer and the total size of all files is only 3.7. how/why does nero turn 3.7gbs into 30?! am i doing it wrong? is this just the way it transfers to the dvd? someone please help this is really starting to tick me off.
should i use another program maybe?
One DVD format movie contain 2.4 GB of space for burning on DVD Disk. You can make only one DVD Disk to convert of your .AVI around 700MB file.

Seems not only do we have probs burning cd's but now we probs reading. plz help
First choice is to go to device manager & delete the cd-rw, then restart computer. PC will reinstall the hardware and you can try from there.
Secondly, in regards to Nero, you could try uninstalling software and then reinstalling.
These are based on the assumption that you do have a up-to-date virus scanner on your pc and that it is testing clean.

If there is just one MPG you are trying to burn I would guess it has a problem. Same if the MPGs you can’t burn are all from the same source.
If you are having problems re-burning the MPG you already were able to burn you likely have a computer problem, although I have no idea what it could be. Maybe you lost a codec.
You say you have the latest version of Nero. Do you have the latest update to that version? There shouldn’t be a compatibility problem – that you were able to burn a VCD with it is a good indication of compatibility.
I have no clue how to burn a dvd? I have .avi files and other various files that I want to Burn to a cd with nero. Is there a freeware program that will convert them to the right format for burning as a playable dvd(in the dvd player) I have looked everywhere. I have no clue how to to make my dvd?
I recommend that you download winavi video converter, it may not be freeware but they give you a free trial and i dont think there are any freeware avi to dvd converters.
Posted before and many advise AGAINST Nero. Decided to see for myself. Been authorizing & burning avi video files to DVD+R's w/only NeroVision Express 3. Results mixed. Couple are DVD clarity copies while majority are "VHS'y" and lightly pixilated. Should be better based on quality of the source. Also, some appear Widescreen while others Full-frame.
1) Under "Default Video Options" at start, would SVCD be better than VCD?
2) Would "Aspect ratio" be better if instead of Automatic I used 4:3 or 16:9?
3) Movie doesn't fit with either "High Quality" or "Standard". Should "Long Play" be an option if I want the pic to look good?

For your problem, please describe exactly when it happens, which OS do you run, which CD burner do you have, which Nero version and at which stage do you get the error please.
Anyone know how to convert Midi's to MP3 using Nero burning Rom? I can change standard cd's to mp3, but the files types selection to change to mp3 doesn't show the option of Midi. Thanks.
Not sure which version of Nero you have - I have Nero 6 which has the option Make an MP3 CD in Nero Startsmart.
Failing the above - see this link :
Then if you need more software try here :

What, if any, error messages does nero give you when trying to burn to DVD?
Or do they burn ok but you just can't read them afterwards?
I have Nero 7 installed on my computer and when I am trying to burn a dvd it gets about halfway done and then an error comes up on the screen. Any thoughts?
Hi, Gang! Looking for help (again) with technical jargon and knowhow! I have never had much success with Nero and another problem has arisen: I am trying to burn (or just make a data disc) from a .AVI file that I have prepared and every time I try to drag the file across I get a message saying that the file is greater than 2G and I must try another compilation (UDF). There is no clue or instruction what all this means or what I am supposed to do. Can anyone walk me through this?
Nero update available here :
Can also be used as a Demo by those who have yet to purchase it.
I'm trying to burn a music cd with Nero Burning Rom. I am able to get all the way to the burning part, but when it starts it comes up with an error message of "Could no perform start of disk-at-once". I've just started having this problem when I installed version 220.127.116.11.
Only piece of advice i can give is to go back and install the previous program. I had the same problem last week when i updated. What I did was deleted the program and downloaded it again.
Thanks for help. I have Windows XP and Nero Cd Burning software is already loaded. I have no idea how to proceed to either copy from an existing CD or download music from the internet.
If anyone can provide instructions it would be appreciated, including what sites to go to get music(1952 to 1979 only).
I currently have Nero 6 and do not know how to burn DVDs. Please help me.
hello? anyone there?http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f10/need-help-burning-dvd-on-nero-206719.html
every once in awhile, actually, almost always lately, when i burn CDs, and use Nero 5.5.9 (latest version), itll burn it...but sometimes when i play it, itll play a song, and suddenly, the song will repeat on its own ...
is this a hardware issue or a software issue?
I would think it would be a hardware issue with the player unless it does that on multiple players.
Try a different brand of CDR. Don’t use RW for audio.
Whats up with this?
100 Meg to burn cd/dvd''s?
And thats just the package. It's probably compressed and takes up even more space and memory and resources.
I thought at first that it was a major update for the recently-released Nero Burning ROM Ultra Edition 7.0, but it's apparently another new Nero program. This one sells for $60.00 while the ultra edition sells for $100.00.
I hope I am in the right forum.
My question is with burning a vcd. I will start by saying that when you are burning an mp3 file the file loads instantly. However, when you drag an mpeg1 file to the burning pane of nero 6 nero has to scan the file as it loads. This is irritating as these files have been burned hundreds of times and they are the correct format. Yet nero has to scan them each time. Sometimes the scan can take longer than the actual burning of the vcd.
My question, is there a way to by pass this scan so that the mpeg1 file loads instantly like the mp3 file?
I have 512 of ram with win xp home sp2 and a 160 gig hd
I hope this isn't to dumb a question
Just tell nero smartstart to burn a data disk instead of a VCD.. Then drag the file over..
Your DVD player may, or may not, be able to play the file this way since it's not in "standard" VCD format. All my DVD players work fine using this method though.
I use Nero v66016 and tried to use the copy DVD feature and got this error message: This path is invalid. Please correct the path or click on cancel.
I have used this feature many times before and never got this error message. Does anyone know how to correct it? I have tried other DVD's but no luck. I have no problems with my system according to AVG, SpyBot and Ad-Aware. I'd appreciate any help. Thanks.
I have a movie on my computer which I downloaded Legaly off a website which I pay for. And it's legal so no worries. I pay and all. OK, so I want to put this movie on a CD-R so I can watch this movie on my computer. No when I drag the movie Icon into nero, it goes from 4gb to 1gb. The video works, but there is no audio. What is the problem? How can I get the audio working? I would also like to state that the audio doesnt work in WMP. I have another media player called VLC where the audio works. Is it a codec issue? Which codec do I download?
Oh, and I get this popup once I put the movie into nero: http://www.jworks.net/iworld/nero.PNG
Hey. Iwas reading the hardware forum, and came across a thread that mentioned nero taking up space on a HD. LOTS of space he said, and I've been burning a bunch of stuff latley and my HD really been filling up. Way dispraportionate(whew) to the rough estimate of stuff supposed to be stored on the HD. So this made me wonder, is there a file that nero stores copies of files already burned??? There was also mention of the files being hard to find?? Anybody heard of this. Thanks in Advance, Graiskye.
just bought the Dazzle Digital Video Creator ll and converted a vhs tape with it when I tried to put it on a video cd not a dvd but a video cd using nero software when I click on nero then video cd I get a window that has a file browser then more places to drag files below it When I do a music cd I get only one place to drag files My question is which space do you drag the video files to the middle one or the small rom nero burning one on the bottom I tried dragging them to the middle one but the write button never lights up and when I drag them to the small space on the bottom the write button lights up but after the disk is written the file is not on it or I cant find it can some one help me get a file written using nero to a video cd Tom t nbsp
it's been awhile, but putting video files in the bottom window will light up the "write cd" so you can burn.

Go here and download Hijack This:
Install to Program Files, close browser windows, Scan + Log, copy/paste log into here.
There's still probably an entry in the registry or something trying to initiate the uninstall. The HJT log should show us everything trying to run at startup and allow us to fix it.
Have had Nero burning rom 5 on my computer since September 02. Didn't have any problems until recently...
Every time I try to compile a new cd, the computer crashes and completely shuts down after it has been writing for a few seconds. I have deleted and reinstalled the program, but nothing seems to help. Is it my physical cd burner?? Any thoughts?
I have Nero 5 on my computer and have no problems with it. You might try downloading the latest drivers from the web site and see if that helps. You can get them from:
Alternatively, you might look in your Device Manager and see if there are any yellow marks beside your CD-R drive.
when I try to burn a cd with nero, I get this message because some files in favorites are too long?
Hw do I change the length of these files to fit?
If I choose to go ahead anyways...... I can not burn.
thanks in advance\\
Find the ones with the filename too long and right click on them. Select “Rename” from the drop down menu and type in something shorter.
I would like to place a shortcut on my desktop at work, which will start Nero, and automatically run a daily backup program. All the user needs to do is put a blank CD in the drive, and click on the shortcut.
Any help given will be gratefully received.
You're looking to complete a very complex task in a very simple way. You're going to need to do some researching, learning, and a little light programming. I doubt you'll get a list of specific steps to take here.
The first thing to determine is what are you backing up. Do you need to backup the entire hard drive? If so, you'll need to span multiple CDs unless all the contents of the drive total less than 650MB.
If you only need to backup the data (word processing documents, spreadsheets, favorites, etc.) then you can probably accomplish that with one CD.
I can't provide any specific steps for Nero since I've never used it. Does it have a built-in backup utility?
If you're burning the info to a CDR, you may need to use special and specific software that will burn the information in one continuous session. If you use a CD-RW disk, you can write to it like you would to a floppy disk, and you could use a batch file with simple copy commands.
Keep in mind that anytime the computer is writing to the CD, nothing else should be done on the computer. That means the user needs to double-click the icon and walk away. Any activity on the computer could cause data corruption.
I'm trying to burn a dual-layer DVD but am having a hard time knowing the maximum size limit.
I'm told a DVD9 can hold 8500 MB. Nero 6 says my DVD files take up 8432 MB. But it also says anything over 8125 MB requires an overburn, and it won't even do that with these files, because they're too large.
How do I verify exactly how much data is on my disk, and do I need other software to burn the full 8500 MB?
I'm using Verbatim DVD+R DL discs, and it says they hold 8.5 GB.
Using Nero to burn CDs sometimes gives problems. Data is fine but putting wave files together to make an Audio Cd does not always work.
Sometimes is burns fine but gives a CD which will not work on all CD players. It seems unable to find the first track and start playing on some players. It reads the number of tracks fine but won't start.
Sometimes it seems to burn properly but the resulting CD has too few tracks burned and will not play at all on any machine including the PC.
Any ideas please?
Just wanted to clarify something, last week I was on Windows XP and was using Nero 8 to burn my discs. Most of my discs are just for storage purposes so I can get files off my HDD, I was burning No Multisession ISOs.
Now since 8 isn't 'officially supported' by Windows 7 I thought I'd try Nero 11, I haven't tested it yet but it installed fine, but I notice that UDF is at the top of the DVD burning options now. So in this day and age is it better to use UDF over ISO for storage archives?
I've been using Nero for a long time (ever since I abandoned Roxio back in the XP days).
I use Nero BurningRom for all of my audio CD burning and for data CD/DVD's. I haven't had any problems. I notice UDF is used, but hadn't given it much thought. There is also an iso option if you want it. I only use iso for bootable discs.
I don't use multi-session discs. For backup, I use Macrium Reflect and back up my drive (full drive all partitions) to another hard drive.
i get a box to come up when i try to burn a cd that says"save image file - my document image nero image files
it just wont work
did i run out of harddrive space? i have maybe 3 gigs of free space
What type of CD are you trying to burn when this box pops up? An 'image' is a specific type of file used for specific purposes. If you are getting this box and you are not wanting to do anything with an image file, maybe you are choosing the wrong options for the type of CD you want to create.
Can you clarify what type of CD you want and what initial options you choose?
Apologies if this topic has been covered, I couldn't find anything using the search facility.
Basically it looks as though Nero 7 does not recognize my dvd drive. I can encode/set up menus/chapters etc., without any problem but when I get to the 'burn' option at the end it only displays "image recorder" as a device to write to. I can save a disc image to my hdd but encounter the same problem if I try to burn that to a dvd-r as a dvd movie.
The info on my d: drive is HL-DT-ST dvd+-rw GWA4164B & I'm using XP Home Edition.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as (I think) I've gone through every possible option/setting in the software.
Thanks in advance.
Launch Nero and run the Nero InfoTool to see if it detects your dvd drive - it may be that Nero has "lost" the d drive even though it is still ok in Windows ( happens to me on rare occasions) .
Hi, I use Nero 8 express to write data in a DVD. It was working fine for the last 3 or 4years. Then in between i had to reinstalled my 32-bit win7 os 2-3times. Now when i try to write data in a DVD sometimes its writing. But sometimes its showing dvd as full and i'm unable to copy r play and sometimes it shows blank dvd & data inside it even after i write data in it and same copying or playing problem. I've uploaded the screenshots for your reference pls help me.
So you are trying to write CD/DVDs using Nero? To me this looks likes from the screenshots that it is using the default Windows program to transfer the items.
Hi Guys, can someone help me with a nero 8 burning problem please.

So I've been trying to upgrade my windows vista to windows 7. The thing is, whenever I try and upgrade, I get a message saying that Windows can't be upgraded unless Nero Burning Rom is uninstalled. The thing is, Nero Burning Rom isn't even installed on my computer. I've tried cleaning my registry and searching for Nero files on my computer and nothing comes up. Help would be greatly appreciated.
Use Nero General CleanTool to delete all remaining Nero entries from your system.http://www.nero.com/enu/tools-utilities.htmlftp://ftp6.nero.com/tools/General-CleanTool.ziphttp://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/285494/removing-nero-burning-rom/
i recently downloaded a 6 GB iso file and I want to write it on two DVD's (4.7 GB) using Nero 7 so I want to know that is there a option in nero 7 to write a file on two dvd's or I have to use some other software
A video/program/bootable ISO file cannot be split onto 2 regular DVDs and still function, you will need a dual layer dvd rw to burn that iso to.
Of course my answer may be a little different if we knew what is in the ISO file.
If I download .avi's that are video clips, can I just burn them onto dvd's and they will play on north american dvd players?? or is there something special i need to do first...also with multiple clips, how will it play them??? is there a way to seperate or anything??? thanks!!!
Only the most recent DVD players can play .avi's directly and even then you have to choose a model that can - most can't. You'll probably have to convert/make a videoCD (VCD) or a super videoCD (SVCD) out of them onto a normal CD disc or convert to DVD video for playback on a DVD disc.
K, I am trying to burn a movie to a dvd, my problem with nero is, I have all the files need but I have to drag them into the video-tsfolder, it will let me drag them all but video_ts.bup and video_ts.ifo these files won't move and even if I highlight them with the folder it still says they are missing...any ideas?? newbie burner here...haven't a clue what I am doing, they were originally mpg files and converted them to vob..
I burn CD's almost every week and now Nero has decided to stop burning the CD's. They are all multiple audio tracks ranging from 5-15 tracks.
I did manage to burn the one just now.
The message I am getting is an instand abort and "the file [insert first name of track to be burnt] is not compatible" then it pops out my disc.
This is the strangest thing and I am desperately in need of burning this music for a birthday party tomorrow.
Can anyone please help?
try windows media player if you desperate to get it done for the party, have you bought some dodgy discs? you need to burn with something else to test to see if your burner is ok,ashampoo do trials for a month that may help
I don't know if this is the right thread
I'm trying to burn a piece a DVD. I got a DVD file from a friend and I have converted to every single format in a bunch of different software and no matter what I try I can't get any audio on the DVD or the ISO file.
There is audio in the AVI but no Audio in the ISO or the MPEG. Is it possible to have coded the AVI to make it impossible to burn the AVI too DVD??
I have already opened up the file to find out exactly what the Audio codec is and then tried to burn it with that setting and too no avail. I have NO IDEA what to do. I have wasted like 5 DVD's already. I'm lost!
AVI ??? AVI is a container format and not suitable for DVDs
That it doesn't make any sense (to me) to convert a DVD to an AVI then to an ISO to burn a new DVD
A Tip at first:
Next time you make an ISO, play it with VLC first to see if it has sound/picture OK before you waste another blanc
As for your troubled Disc..the way I would go about that is this
First I try to rip the disc with DVDShrink directly to ISO which then gets burned on a blanc.
If that rip fails I use DVDFab (it's a trial) to rip the parts I want to Harddrive first and use then DVDShrink on that directory (it's faster that way compared to have DVDFab create the ISO)
Or you could as well use DVD Rebuilder Free. Read HERE How that goes exactly
Whenever I open up Nero burning Rom to burn Nero Burning Issues Rom stuff I get this pop-up titled quot bad or missing system DLL quot and the text in the pop-up reads quot Needs WINDOWS original WNASPI DLL quot now I searched that DLL on my comp and it s in my nero folder but I keep getting this pop up and when I click ok I get another window titled quot NeroApix quot and the text reads quot Could Not open driver Trying system aspi quot I don t know what Nero Burning Rom Issues to do and burning data is important because this computer is old and I plan on getting rid of it I need the burning working though in order to transfer files Please any help on fixing this issue would be appreciated I already reinstalled nero and whatnot I have Nero smartstart I m running on Windows version mhz pentium II MB ram about a gig of space left out of thank you nbsp

I had many burn failures with my 1st CD burner years ago; my problem was I had bought a batch of 'economy' CD's.
Have you tried an alternate brand to what you are using now?
Also, is this from new or just started happening, if the latter have you tried cleaning the burner (with a cleaning CD , not anything else).

Hiya people...wonder if someone can shed a lil bit of light on this minor problem, ive just started ripping/burning DVD's (AUDIO_TS - VIDEO_TS) ... Im using 'Nero Burning ROM 2015' ... Im using 'AonePlus+ Dual Layer (Gold Edition)(240 Mins - 8.5GB) (8x DVD+R) discs ... the burning process runs fine, but halfway through the burnt DVD the freezes for a few seconds then starts again, I set Nero to burn @ 8x ... does anyone know why this happens and how to amend this problem, if possible. thanks lee

Ive got two folders each of size 2.2 Gb.
However when I try to burn two of these onto a dvd using Nero , it says that the combined size is greater than 4.5 Gb and so it wont fit on the disc
I cant waste space this way !
Hi there -
I'm running Nero 5 on Windows XP and burned 4.1 gig of mp3's to a DVD+R using the Nero express module. When I try to play the tunes from the disk on a few media players on my computer I get a "file type not supported" error. The source mp3's on my hard drive work but it seems that when I burned to the DVD the files were distorted. Any thoughts?
Hiya and welcome
I've moved you to the Mutimedia forum for more response
Where were the mp3's originally from? When you play them on your harddrive, which program are you using?
Hello I was told it would be easier to converse on this issue if I started a new thread instead of using someone elses so I have I wasn t sure whether to put this in the software or hardware forum but I decided here in the end Here is the background information WINXP Home fully updated Pioneer DVD-RW DVR- Drive Using Staple Cheap Media and Sony media as well I use my burner to make both audio cdrs and data cdrs avi s from my harddrive Up until three days ago both of these processes worked very smoothly on my PC with Nero Then three days ago as I was dvd-rw/nero burning problems attempting to burn an avi to a data disk I suffered two consecutive buffer underuns I didn t think this was much of an issue because after examning the file it appears that it was missing some dvd-rw/nero burning problems bytes of data at the end and was therefore corrupt Fast forward to the next day I then proceeded to burn other data disks and according to all observations of the burning procedure it went by smoothly When I went to check the disk afterwards I popped it into both drives and came away with a quot Drive is not accessible incorrect function quot error This happened repeatedly with every data disk I burned afterwards utilizing Nero A data disk burned with the native XP burning capabilities also failed to work in the same exact manner I then tried burning an AUDIO cdr and these actually work without a hitch My stereo and computer can read the finished product flawlessly The dvd-rw drive appears to have suffered no damage when it comes to reading disks and can still burn audio cdrs perfectly I then tried out various types of ASPI ranging from Force to the newest alpha to Nero s own all without success Nero was reinstalled and even cleared from the registry numerous times over this process I also upgraded to the latest version of Nero which is supposed to be XP compatible and it failed to work I have tried some crazy things like reinstalling the drive and logging into a different XP User Upgrading the firmware doesn t seem to be an option I was about ready to give up and call it a hardware problem when I decided in one last ditch attempt to download a different burning program I downloaded CD Mate and ran the free trial I burned the same exact data disks that fail to come out correctly in Nero and to my surprise they worked So it appears my drive has not died and gone to heaven after all Both types of media burned successfully Although it works CD Mate seems to be a sketchy program that rarely gives me the desired write speed and stuff anyway I d definitely rather use Nero It was working perfectly up until a few days ago when it just pooped for no reason I can find I did not make any updates to Windows at that time nor did I add in any new software or hardware I have tried Nero again for data disks following CD Mate s success even changing options from track-at-once to disc-at-once and still cannot burn a useable cdr I am planning to buy a Lite-On drive to see if that works but it really puzzles me that data disks work with CD Mate and audio disks still work with Nero What if it really is a software issue and a new drive doesn t solve the problem Another thing I am thinking of is buying a new hard disk and moving all my data there to reformat and see what goes on I d like to avoid that as well though if you have any suggestions Thanks Brian nbsp
Running XP and Nero 7 .
Problem is that when burning a CD from sound files located on my hard drive, the burn process activates and works for about the first 30% of the burn process then stalls.....the burn process appears to be going on ( the little disc transfer graphic keeps working ) but the progress %'age stops.
The burnt CD only has the first few tracks successfully burnt but every other track is on the CD but with no sound..totally silent , yet the track count shows that there is a track recorded.
Also, when I try to abort the process the whole system stalls again and I have to re-start my computer
I tried removing the Nero programme and re-loading the Nero software...didn't work.
I also defrag my computer prior to burning and that made no difference either..
The reason I ask is because I was just going to install it on my computer but then stopped because the installer told me I need to install all this other stuff that is either outdated Microsoft VC redist going back to or irrelevant Direct D I thought Direct D is used for rendering graphics why would a dvd burning program need it Anyways Just wondering If Nero Burning 7? on Rom Use Windows 11 Anyone I should install it Could any of this old stuff screw with or replace newer updates already isntalled I want something with a little more control than the native windows burning software but a quot light quot version without all the extra crap like audio video file Anyone Use Nero Burning Rom 11 on Windows 7? conversion system back-up etc just a burner but with lots of fine tuning ability I have used nero products in the Anyone Use Nero Burning Rom 11 on Windows 7? past and have been satisfied for the most crap but not sure about installing all that stuff its asking for Any advice recomendations on whether or not to install or alternative software
I have installed all of them on 7 x64 and working perfectly yet as I aware. dont know much about would this replace or mess up new updates. if you're just unsure about updates, after installation, why don't you run the win update again. And direct3d is necessary for Nero vision I think(currently Nero Video).
about the burner, there is Nero 9 burning ROM that they giving away it for free. isn't it? Or you could try roxio for a better burner with lot of fine tuning facilities. wait for others to give their suggestions on this and you could go and see topten reviews on this matter too.
Well i have nero 7 permiun installed and have had no problem with it unitll now. So i went to burn an iso today, i opened up nero start smart and chose to burn a data dvd, at first ever thing was fine it started to load and then i got that nero.exe has encounterd a problem and need to close thing. So i uninstalled the program and reinstalled it. That didnt work it is still the same. It is only nero burning rom that this happens to none of the other nero products have any problem (nero express and vision are fine).
I hope i have giving enougth information for some one to help me, and sorry about my spelling and gramer
Nero hates burning anything over a gig or so, to try and burn an ISO which I will assume is large is a mistake. Use Alcohol 120% or XPcd burner.
I always get this error, This never used to happen and when i check task manager hardly any resources are used. It only burns after a reboot. It worked find last week but now I don't know what happend.
Hi I m new and posted a very detailed question but I see now it was under the wrong catagory I put it under photo I think this has technical info too for those of you that can check that out if it is problems burning nero 7 relavant It nero 7 burning problems pertains to a slide show Basically after a series of problems I got a slideshow done under neros essentials se But I had problems getting the photos done I used nero vision did import and from there they were under home essentials se which I could nero 7 burning problems collect etc But after so many it no longer worked and I tried other methods I eventually used lexmark to scan under my pictures and this worked But then the last - pictures didn t show up right away After doing them over I got it done with songs in the background When I burned it it cameout as data as what I understand to be a backup file How do I get that to a cd that plays on a dvd player Or how do I get it do a dvd and which type of blank disc do you recommend Also is scanning photos working not working common And BTW I left out I did try quot settings quot nuder nero SE and the only thing it does under cd s is data Thanks I could use the help you have nbsphttps://forums.techguy.org/threads/nero-7-burning-problems.674339/
I am using Nero 7 Ultra and burining cd's with the default Nero Burning Rom app. When i burn an audio disc everything goes fine, except when i play them back in my computer or cd player the all the songs have skipping. The skipiing is written into the songs though, the track timer does not show any skippping. I know that the mp3s used to burn the cds do not contain the same skipping and are of good quality. I also do not believe the problem is with my disk drive because when i used a different application (itunes) to burn the same cd, the skipping was gone! Please help! I'm sick of waisting cd-rs trying to fix this problem!!!
Burn at a lower or lowest speed, that should fix it hopefully.
