Preferred Solution: windows\system32\bridge.dll fault (HELP)

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi bert4444
You will need to uninstall New,Net.Do this via Add/Remove

When done..
Make sure you have already run Adaware, Spybot S & D(check for updates) as these will do a preliminary clean first. Some files below may not be present after running the above programs.

Then....
Turn off your System Restore. SEE HERE Reinstate it when your log is cleaned.Close your browser window and run hjt in safe mode... HOW TO RUN SAFE MODE and have "Hijack This" fix the following by placing a check in the appropriate boxes and selecting "fix checked".
Folders that have been highlighted in RED will need to be uninstalled.Check first as some folders maybe uninstalled via the Add/Remove program. Files highlighted in BLACK will need to be removed from your hard drive. Make sure to have your system set to show hidden files and folders.. HOW TO SHOW FILES ..Please get the latest HJT v1.98.2 and then post a new log when finished...

Alrighty then! Tools, first..

Download Ad-aware SE from here. Install the program and launch it.

First, in the main window, look in the bottom right corner and click on Check for updates now and download the latest reference files.

Next, we need to configure Ad-aware for a full scan.

Click on the Gear icon (second from the left) to access the preferences/settings window

1. In the General window make sure the following are selected:
? Automatically save log-file
? Automatically quarantine objects prior to removal
? Safe Mode (always request confirmation)
2. Click on the Scanning button on the left and select :
? Scan Within Archives
? Scan Active Processes
? Scan Registry
? Deep Scan Registry
? Scan my IE favorites for banned URL?s
? Scan my Hosts file
? Under Click here to select drives + folders, choose:
? All of your hard drives
Click on the Advanced button on the left and select:
? Include additional process information
? Include additional file information
? Include environment information
Click the Tweak button and select:
? Under the Scanning Engine:
o Unload recognized processes & modules during scan
o Include additional Ad-aware settings in logfile
? Under the Cleaning Engine:
o Let Windows remove files in use at next reboot
Click on Proceed to save the settings.

Click Start and on the next screen choose:
? Use Custom Scanning Options
Click Next and Ad-aware will scan your hard drive(s) with the options you have selected.

When finished, mark everything for removal and get rid of it. (Right-click the window and choose Select All from the drop down menu and click Next).

Reboot your computer.

Then please reboot back into normal mode and go here
and run the online virus scan. Please select the Autoclean option when prompted.

Then please post a new log.

Go to the bottom of this message to get the latest version of HijackThis. If the site is down, you can also get it here.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. You should not have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore. Click Apply and then OK. Restart your computer. After we are finished with your log file and verified that it’s clean, you may turn it back on and create a new restore point.

Go to My Computer->Tools->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that Show hidden files and folders is enabled. Also make sure that the System Files and Folders are showing/visible also.

Please download Adaware and install it if you don’t have it already. Make sure it’s the newest version and check for any updates before running it. Also make sure to customize the settings in Adaware for better scan results. Run the scan and fix everything that it finds.

Reboot into Safe Mode (hit F8 key until menu shows up).

Make sure to close any open browsers. Go into HijackThis->Config->Misc. Tools->Open process manager. Select the following and click Kill process for each one if they are still listed (they shouldn’t be – but double check it):

C:\Program Files\BullsEye Network\bin\bargains.exe

Uninstall the following via the Add/Remove Program’s Window if they exist:

BulleEye Network

Make sure to close any open browsers you have. Check and fix the following in HijackThis (make sure not to miss any):

O2 - BHO: brdg Class - {9C691A33-7DDA-4C2F-BE4C-C176083F35CF} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\bridge.dll (file missing)
O2 - BHO: Url Catcher - {CE31A1F7-3D90-4874-8FBE-A5D97F8BC8F1} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\apuc.dll
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [RunDLL] rundll32.exe "C:\WINDOWS\System32\bridge.dll",Load
O16 - DPF: {91433D86-9F27-402C-B5E3-DEBDD122C339} - http://www.netvenda.com/sites/games-nl/nl/games14.cab

Delete the following Files/Folders (delete folders if no filename is specified) according to their directory (if none, just do a search for them) and delete them if they exist:

C:\Program Files\BullsEye Network\bin\bargains.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\bridge.dll
C:\WINDOWS\System32\apuc.dll

Reboot into Normal Mode.

After that’s done, restart and post a new HijackThis log file so we can make sure it’s clean.

To help prevent future spyware installations/infections, please read my anti-spyware section and use the tools provided.

A:C:\windows\system32\bridge.dll error

Hi Cindy P. and welcome to TSF. Let's se if we make your problem "less nutty".

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. You should not have any open browsers when you are following the procedures
below.

Run an online virus scan at TrendMicro or RAV Antivirus. Select the Autoclean option if you use TrendMicro.

The Temp folders should be cleaned out periodically as installation programs and hijack programs leave a lot of junk there. Download Index.dat Suite to clean out all the temp folders. Do not run it yet.

Go to My Computer->Tools->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that Show hidden files and folders is enabled. Also make sure
that the System Files and Folders are showing/visible also.

Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore. Click Apply and then OK. Restart your computer. After we are finished with your log file and verified that it's clean, you may turn it back on and create a new restore point.

Reboot into Safe Mode (hit F8 key until menu shows up).

Make sure to close any open browsers. Go into HijackThis->Config->Misc. Tools->Open process manager. Select the following and click
Kill process for each one if they are still listed (they shouldn't be - but double check it):

C:\windows\temp\zh.exe
C:\documents and settings\todd palmatier\local settings\temp\zPLC1p.exe
C:\documents and settings\todd palmatier\local settings\temp\m6aU.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\Bls71i.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\RtaQs5.exe

Check and fix the following in HijackThis if they still exist (make sure not to miss any):

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Int ernet Settings,ProxyOverride = 127.0.0.1
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [zh] C:\windows\temp\zh.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [RunDLL] rundll32.exe "C:\WINDOWS\System32\bridge.dll",Load
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [4S2NSLA3QS#366] C:\WINDOWS\System32\Hcj2s6.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [zPLC1p] C:\documents and settings\todd palmatier\local settings\temp\zPLC1p.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [m6aU] C:\documents and settings\todd palmatier\local settings\temp\m6aU.exe

Delete the following Files/Folders (delete folders if no filename is specified) according to their directory (if none, just do a search for them) and delete them if they exist:

C:\windows\temp\zh.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\bridge.dll
C:\WINDOWS\System32\Hcj2s6.exe
C:\documents and settings\todd palmatier\local settings\temp\zPLC1p.exe
C:\documents and settings\todd palmatier\local settings\temp\m6aU.exe

Run Index.dat Suite now and go to Tools->Settings. Then make sure to check the following: Cookies, History, Recent Documents, Swap File (if you have Windows 95/98), Temporary Internet Files and Temp Files. Click Save at the bottom. Then click on the Find button. Let it search. Then click on the second button on the top. This will generate a batch file. Click Next->Next->Next and it will tell you that after the next reboot/restart you the file should run by itself and startup and clean all those files.

Reboot into Normal Mode and post a new HijackThis log file so we can make sure it's clean.

A:Hijack this log and error loading C:\windows\system32\bridge.dll problem

Please don't start a new thread for the same problem as it gets confusing for the people who are trying to help.

Instead, it's preferable to "bump" your post up if it's fallen back a bit.

I'm sure $teve will be back to continue with you in your other thread here:

this pc was built around 1 year ago

3570K @ 4.2gHZ stock volts max temps around 75c using a hyper 212 plus
P8Z77-V Bios 2104
Sapphire 7950 dual x fans running stock with AMD beta 14.4

2x4GB corsair memory they are rated at 1600mhz the motherboard set it to 1333hz as default but i switched to xmp 1600mhz

in the blue screen it says page fault in nonpaged area portcls.sys

i did a refresh , chkdsk , memtest, and after i did a driver verifer i got another type of error

driver page fault beyond end of allocation

so i had to go back and to safe mode and disable the verifier

the 1st one it occurs sometimes from 1h to 6h randomly usually while browsing or just steam chat
edit: if any one needs any other info about the hardware im using, please ask

When I turn on my computer (Windows XP), I am suddenly receiving two notices:
"Cannot load c:\windows\image.dll"
nor
"c:\windows\system32\bridge.dll"

My homepage is hijacked, as are most of my favorites. I am running AdAware 4-5 times a day, and it is constantly finding invading files. I am also running Norton's everyday. I download the updates to both these programs, so I feel they are current.

What do I do?
thanks.

Hi and welcome to TSG,

Please do this. Click here: http://www.sherrylynn.us/HijackThis.exe to download Hijack This. It’s very important that you save it to its own folder on your hard drive, such as program files (not temporary files or the desktop), so that it can create proper back-ups and be able to restore them if necessary.
Close all open windows and open Hijack This. Click “Scan”. When the scan is finished (it only takes a second), the scan button will change to “Save Log”. Click on “Save Log” and save it to NotePad. Copy the entire log and paste it here.

DO NOT FIX ANYTHING YET, most items that appear in the log are harmless or even needed. Wait for someone to analyze the log and advise.

The entries you see below the local host are really BAD sites which are being redirected back to nowhere (your computer), so they can't call out. I don't know what put those entries in, quite possibly AVG or some other application you've used. They're a good thing. But ...In some computers, mine included, if a large hosts file is used, the DNS service has to be disabled. Otherwise the computer can get very, very slow for the internet access.More and better details herehttp://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htmand a quote:Editors Note: in most cases a large HOSTS file (over 135 kb) tends to slow down the machine. This only occurs in W2000/XP/Vista. Windows 98 and ME are not affected. To resolve this issue (manually) open the "Services Editor"Start | Run (type) "services.msc" (no quotes)Scroll down to "DNS Client", Right-click and select: PropertiesClick the drop-down arrow for "Startup type"Select: Manual, or Disabled (recommended) click Apply/Ok and restartrestart = REBOOT is a must. You can also stop and then disable the DNS service from Control Panel.See about the middle of that writeup. If I were you, I'd read the whole article. The thing that puzzles me a bit is that your hosts file isn't all that long and it sure is missing a lot of other very bad things.

..Update..A computer guy came and looked at my computer. He said I needed a new fan.. so I don't need help with that now. My Sims game also works now.I just need to know if I'm infected.. and if there's something wrong with my Spybot.. and how I could change my hosts back or whatever is wrong with them. Thanks. I have a new problem now though.. I can't watch videos on Mtv.com. When I pause them, they won't load anymore. Only if I play it.. and I don't have a very fast internet so.. it loads slow. So it always stops every 5 seconds. It's very annoying. It did it before.. but then worked sometimes. I thought it might have been the site or maybe a lot of people were watching it, but it hasn't been working at all now. Can you please help me with that too?

Hi all,

Just wanted to post this for anyone experiencing boot issues with the ASROCK H61-VG4.

SPEC
ASROCK H61-VG4
Celeron G1620(P0) Ivy Bridge 2.7GHz (1155 IVYBRIDGE / CHIPSET)
RAM 4GB 1333MHz
1TB Samsung spinpoint F3

On completion of build
- computer would boot and then shut down after around 5 secs.
- could not get into the bios as computer would shut down prior.

solution / fix
installed 1600MHz RAM and computer booted with no issues.

(I usually use gigabyte mobos so never experienced this before.)

Manual states, "Memory - supports DDR3 1600/1333/1066 non-ECC memory (DDR3 1600 with Intel Ivy Bridge CPU, DDR3 1333 with intel Sandy Bridge CPU)

Anyone else had this type of issue with specific CPU to RAM MHz match to get a board to boot?

A:Asrock h61-vg4 (ivy bridge & ddr3 1600 / sandy bridge & ddr 1333)

By "boot", do you mean POST? Did you get any beeps? Perhaps the 1333 module(s) is bad or the wrong voltage.

Hello,

When I run the AVG Scan, I get the following result:
1- "C:\windows\system32\shell32.dll", result = Change, status = Changed
2- "C:\windows\system32\ntoskrnl.exe", result = Change, status = Changed

This has made my internet extremely slow and sometimes (more often than usual) my computer freezes or applications take a long time to load.

Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Goku

A:Avg Scan: "c:\windows\system32\shell32.dll" And "c:\windows\system32\ntoskrnl.exe...

It is normal that AVG shows that files have changed. These changes could be due to windows updates etc. You should only worry if they also show as infected.

It slows down my startup. I beleive it is the W32.Kwbot.F.Worm

So I was wondering if I have a i5-2500k (sandy bridge) and pair it with a z75 or z77 mobo(made for ivy bridge cpu's but backwards compatible with sb) would I gain the added features? Like usb 3.0, sata 3, PCIe 3.0 that would not be available on a sandy bridge mobo?

A:Sandy Bridge CPU w/ Ivy Bridge chipset mobo

Well yes you would gain any features that the new motherboard has that the old one doesn't. Although SATA 3 was available on some Intel 6 series chipsets in small numbers. Some manufacturer's also added their own SATA 3 and USB 3 controllers to those motherboards. Your CPU only has PCI-Express 2.0 slot so PCI-Express 3.0 slots on the motherboard won't really do anything for you anyways, not that the gains from 2.0 to 3.0 are much anyways.

Unless your motherboard is faulty or lacking something you really need and can't add-in via an add-in card there's little benefit of upgrading, as in upgrading for the sake of having something newer.

I have an ECS H61H2-M2 mobo, and am looking to upgrade the cpu. I was looking at some ivy bridge and sandy bridge processors, and was wondering if I could drop an ivy bridge into this board. It says "for second generation chips" but its still the lga 1155 socket, right?

A:Can My Sandy Bridge Board Run An Ivy Bridge Processor?

Yup, they make Ivy Bridge processors in socket 1155 as well and your motherboard does support them with a BIOS update. You can check which processors are supported bu checking the manufacturer's CPU Support list whioch you can find here for your motherboard: http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Pr...ilID=1228&DetailName=Feature&MenuID=1&LanID=0

1st question:

Well ive heard that Ivy bridge boost 20% performance and huge in GPU.

I dont need Built in GPU.

Ivy has integrated USB3.0, PCI 3.0 and thunderbird.

Is it really worth to wait for the new Ivy Bridge i5 3570k? versus i5 2500k?
I have a lesson for the previous CPU. Bought 3 computer Socket 1156 after 2 months of release!

The result? i always got a BSOD.

The Sandy bridge 1st release has a problem also with the chipset.

If i remember they fix after 2 weeks with the new B3 design.

Now guys because im really excited on Ivy bridge.

The release date is April 08, 2012

What can you say? is it really safe buying for only a 1 month old after the release?

Lets say i wait to buy on May 01, 2012?.

2nd question:

Amd is creating a PCI 3.0 Hd 7 Series.

What do you think guy is their a PCI 3.0 videocard not expensive? max of 100$?
I need you opinion and knowledge.

Thanks!

A:Ivy Bridge 3570k Vs Sandy Bridge 2500k

Depends on how you look at it.
If your not interested in the On-Die GPU, IB seems to really only offer PCI-e 3.0 and a slight clock for clock bump over SB.

In regards to PCI 3.0, you must consider no current GPU can saturate a x16 slot, and most cant even stuarate a 2.0 slot at x8. Some of the Single card dual GPUs can exceed x8, but still cant use the full x16.

So, even the first few generations of 3.0 cards will not be bottlenecked by a 2.0 slot at all. By the time they do, you'll likely be be in need of a complete upgrade anyway.

Bottom line, I wouldn't put to much worry into 3.0 at this point. It will be nice to have .. sure. But in reality, it may not actually be usefull for a long time yet.

However, April is not that far away.
If you are building new, and do not need it right now .. I'd just wait. Why not?
Newer tech is a good idea, especially when so close, as long as you arent having major issues currently.

However, if your current machine is struggling to play your games and you are in bad need to upgrade soon ... a SB build would not be a bad investment, and will server you well for a good while.

Also, if you do decide to go ahead and go with a SB P67/z68 build now ... just avoid the boards that use a NF200 Chip. The reason is, a bios upgrade will allow them to use IB CPUs later.
IB CPU means PCI 3.0 support.

So long as your PCIX lanes are not being split and run through a NF200, PCI 3.0 support on the z68/P67 should work. At least for a Single GPU, and possibly dual GPUS if those lanes are run directly to the CPU.
That was my big reason for going with the board I got when I was building.

Either way you decide to go will be a good choice. SB isn't going to struggle anytime soon.

Hi and Welcome
It may help you if you print out or copy this page for easy reference.. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order its listed and that you have HJT v1.99.1.If you don't understand please ask before proceeding with the fixes.

Please Keep your browser and all open programs closed (except firewalls and antivirus) when you are carrying out the fixes.

Download any of the required programs before attempting to start any of the fixes.

Turn off System Restore instructions (WinXP)
Rightclick My Computer | Properties | System Restore | check ?Turn off System Restore?, <Apply>, <OK>. Reboot. When we have confirmed that your log file is clean, you may renable System Restore and create a new restore point.

SHOW HIDDEN FILES AND FOLDERS.
To show hidden files instructions (WinXP)
Doubleclick My Computer | Tools | Folder Options | View tab
Select Show Hidden Files and Folders
Uncheck Hide extensions for known file types
Uncheck Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)
Select Apply to All Folders | Yes | Apply | OK
------------------------------------------------------------------

Download and run Adaware,SpyBot (check for updates) for a preliminary cleanup first. Some files below may not be present after running the above programs.Full instructions below.

How to setup Ad-Aware

Download Ad-Aware
Save aawsepersonal.exe into its own directory, NOT in a TEMPorary folder or on the Desktop. I recommend c:/program files/Adaware/
Doubleclick aawsepersonal.exe. Make sure to direct the program to install in the c:/program files/adaware/ directory, NOT the default directory.
Open AdAware from Start | Programs | Lavasoft | AdAware.
Select <Check for updates now>, <Proceed>
After installation, run the program and click the start button. Then click the next button. This lets ad-aware scan your computer.
After ad-aware is done running, hit the next button. Then right click the area with the listed spy ware objects.Choose the "Select all objects" option.
At this point all the boxes next to the items should be checked. Then hit the next button.
It will ask if you want to delete the selected objects. Hit the Okay button.

How to setup Spybot Search & Destroy

Download SpyBot
Save spybotsd13.exe into its own directory, NOT in a TEMPorary folder or on the Desktop.
I recommend c:/program files/spybot/
Doubleclick spybotsd13.exe. Make sure to direct the program to install in the c:/program files/spybot/ directory, NOT the default directory.
Open Spybot from Start | Programs | Spybot | Spybot S&D
Select <Search for Updates>. Let it install all updates. This is very important!
Select <Immunize>
Select <Check for Problems>
Check all entries that are in RED. Only RED, NOTHING ELSE. For your records, write/print out each item that you have fixed. Date it.
Select <Fix Selected Problems>
Close Spybot//

---------------------------------------------------------------------
Download WinsockFix and keep it handy. . If you have connection problems after doing the LSPFix just unzip it, double-click on it to run it.

First get the LSPFix and run it....To remove aklsp.dll' from your winsock layers click the "I know what I'm doing" checkbox and check all the instances of aklsp.dll' (and nothing else). Then move checked file/s to the "Remove" pane and click Finish and reboot.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

To help clean out Trusted Zones, download and run DELDOMAINS then double click to open the DelDomains.inf .To execute the file: right-click and Select 'Install' from the Menu.

Hi I am about to purchase new motherboard and Processor and I require some opinion whether I should buy Sandy bridge or Ivy Bridge. As far as I know Ivy is having some overheating issue and that for me is worrying fact since I want to overclock my processor.

Furthermore if I do buy Sand Bridge what chipset/ motherboard combination should I go with Z68 or Z77.

A:Sandy bridge or Ivy Bridge you decide :)

Go for Sandy Bridge..

A tried and tested i5 2500k or i7 2600k is still very respectable and the performance gulf between Sandy and Ivy is not that large... Ivy is great if you want a very respectable integrated graphics solution; the Intel HD 4000 is quite a performer for an integrated card.

2500k's hit 4.5 GHz or even 5 GHz very easily with the right cooling apparatus...

Also, go for Z68 if you intend on sticking with Sandy Bridge until your next motherboard upgrade, Z77 if you intend on upgrading to Ivy Bridge in the near future...

Hello iJoe,

Is there any reason you ran RootRepeal instead of gmer? I'd prefer a log from gmer as outlined in our pre-posting topic.

Download GMER Rootkit Scanner from here or here. Extract the contents of the zipped file to desktop.
Double click GMER.exe. If asked to allow gmer.sys driver to load, please consent .
If it gives you a warning about rootkit activity and asks if you want to run scan...click on NO.

Click the image to enlarge it

In the right panel, you will see several boxes that have been checked. Uncheck the following ... Sections
IAT/EAT
Drives/Partition other than Systemdrive (typically C:\)
Show All (don't miss this one)

Then click the Scan button & wait for it to finish.
Once done click on the [Save..] button, and in the File name area, type in "ark.txt" or it will save as a .log file which cannot be uploaded to your post.
Save it where you can easily find it, such as your desktop

**Caution**
Rootkit scans often produce false positives. Do NOT take any action on any "<--- ROOKIT" entries

Please attach the ark.txt in your next reply

CD drive (D:) on my system doesn?t even exist, I have one DVD drive player and one DVD/CD burner named (F:) and (N:). When trying to manage drive letters in control panel under administrative tools disk management CD drive (D:) does not even show up, I usually have this letter reserved for an external hard drive, now none of my short cuts icons etc will work because I cannot change this letter back. The actual name of this mysterious drive in device manager is WDC WD3000JS-60PDB0, the drivers it uses is C:\windows\system32\Drivers\disk.sys and C:\windows\system32\drivers\PartMgr.sys any ideas on how to remove this. Thanks.

A:C:\windows\system32\drivers\disk.sys And C:\windows\system32\drivers\partmgr.sys

Well...you should use Disk Management to change drive letters...with the understanding that you cannot assign a letter that is already taken by any drive attached...until you change that drive's letter .This explains it better, Hard Drive Letter Assignments - http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...844&sd=tech Louis

Hi FASTER Bridge ethernet-->wifi using vs - MUCH Wifi with Bridge router there If you've a spare Wifi vs ethernet-->wifi Bridge using router - MUCH FASTER with Bridge old router which you can set up as a wifi bridge and connect a bit of LAN cable from Laptop into the Bridge router you'll generally get FAR better performance from even a cheap router Logic behind this is that most Wifi adapters are half duplex whereas a router is full duplex and throughput will be significantly better Another advantage is that you can still use GHZ band even if your PC or whatever only can handle GHZ wifi If your router doesn't have bridging facilities you can often do it by a firmware upgrade --for most routers try this www dd-wrt com Unleash Your Router Note --this is the Bridging router --not your main one that you use to connect to your ISP with --don't want to cause people to have inoperable boxes I've found using a Router as a bridge far better than having to have loads of LAN cable all round the house --and also antennae in wifi routers are hugely better than most built in Wifi cards so you can in a lot of cases avoid extra slowdown caused by wifi extenders In my quot man shed quot -- a good metres from the main house - could just about get Mib s on a very poor GHZ wifi signal from the wifi card Laptop now acceptable - still with GHZ wifi but using quot Bridged quot method with an old EDIMAX wifi port router Around Mib s still a lot slower by about X - I'm getting nearly Gb s download in main house on GHZ wifi --ISL has excellent Internet than in the main house but perfectly OK for streaming Football etc when friends are around and we're all drinking Beer etc -- no complaints from quot the Other quot about noise cheers of quot Goooooal quot clearing up etc etc Good even for a SLOW Ping -- remember I'm over metres away from my House and on GHZ Wifi -- GHZ not receivable at that distance added -- even if your PC laptop doesn't have a LAN connector it's still worthwhile doing this with a USB-- gt Lan adapter -- even a USB -- gt LAN works really well -- USB speed will easily handle Mib s and adapter can cost as little as EUR - those cheap Chinese unbranded ones work fine too I've had simultaneous connections through that Bridge router this way -- guys had laptops with no LAN cards - they used the adapters --all very happy USB quot -- gt LAN adapter-- gt Lan cable-- gt Port on Bridge router Cheers jimbo

Windows 10 is good, but what matters more to me is that my system fully supports it. Since Intel will never bother to write Windows 10 graphic drivers for my Sandy Bridge processor, the free upgrade makes no sense. Microsoft said my system was ready for Windows 10, but it turned out to be the opposite. I think Microsoft shouldn't have forced people with incompatible hardware like me to upgrade to Windows 10.
P.S Those who have Sandy Bridge processors just need to play an .mkv video on Windows 10 to see how incompatible their systems are.Click to expand...

I just played a few MKV files on Windows 10 with no dramas using several different players all were fine including the Windows players.

Do you have a Sandy Bridge processor and what is your graphic driver version? I had the latest driver from Windows update (9.17.10.4229) but still couldn't play .mkv videos properly. I experienced green screen and graphic corruption when playing back these videos by using Windows Media Player and Movie App. I also tried some .mkv samples from this site: Download Sample Videos / Dummy Videos For Demo Use and got black screen. I think Intel Windows 8.1 graphic driver is the cause.

I have had Windows 8 build 9200 for a couple months (through volume licensing) and ever since I have had issues with how Windows 8 treats USB 3.0 devices. It claims the device is connecting via USB 2 speeds and when transferring files this is obviously apparent as the speeds hovers around 30MB/s.

Since I just joined this forum here are my specs.
W110ER
Intel Core i7 3630QM
16GB Hyper-x 1866
512 OCZ Agility 4
GT 650m (optimus)

So know this, anybody else with an Ivy Bridge CPU having issues with the Intel USB 3.0 drivers (USB eXtensible Host Driver).

A:Windows 8 x64 Ivy Bridge USB Issues

Not here. System in specs. USB 3 is 100MB/s roughly. Annoying that USB 3 is only detected 97% of the time. Same thing happened in Win 7 though, so meh.

A:Unable to bridge connections - Windows XP

I don't have many ideas on this. Switch the cable with the internet connection to the other ethernet port as a test. If you can't get internet access then probably that adapter has failed. If it works, I cannot think of anything else at this time.

A:Vista to Windows XP Bridge will not work

Heyy,
welcome to Vista Forums!

Try changing the router to 192.168.0.xxx, the same as the wireless usb.
That way they would be in the same IP band. Just a thought..

Also, are you connecting the wireless router up by usb or network cable?

Hope this helps,
Daniel =)

I'm having a problem connecting a Windows 7 laptop to a repeater bridge. I have a Linksys WRT54GS which I flashed with dd-wrt a few months ago and have been using it successfully on several XP laptops ever since. When trying to connect the W7 laptop however I can see the repeater bridges unique SSID but cannot connect to it. I am using WPA2 with an AES algorithm but have also tried it without any security and still no luck. The W7 laptop will connect to the repeater bridge via a wired connection (although it shows it's connected to the name of the AP router), but that is the only way. The W7 laptop will connect to the AP with no problem. Any suggestions? Does anyone have a Windows 7 machine that will (or will not) connect to a repeater bridge? P.S. I'm a novice at best.

A:Can't get Windows 7 to connect to Repeater Bridge

I might be able to help if I knew the exact model numbers of both lap tops "the one that connects and the one that doesn't connect".

It might also be useful to know if you have any type of A/V software or third party firewalls installed on those two machines.

My windows 7 machine is unable to connect to my internet through the wireless bridge I've set up on my WRT54G using DD-WRT. It seems to be connected to the network as it sees the other computers that are on it but there is no internet access. Every once in awhile it gains access and then abruptly loses it in a matter of minutes. The router supplies internet to anything else I plug into it, be it my Xbox or laptop running XP. I'm stumped and can't seem to find the problem. Thank you for any help in advance.

Hello all I was just wondering something...should I be placing my ADSL modem in bridge mode???

My setup is as follows

ADSL modem to Netgear FVS336G Firewall
Netgear Firewall to Linksys EA3500 router
Router to computers (wired and wireless)

BTW firewall and Linksys ARE on different subnets

I was wondering since I am NOT using my wireless or routing functions of the modem shouldn't it be placed in bridge mode?? what would be the advantages/disadvantages?? Will it affect my current settings?? Will I have to change a bunch of stuff??

I have a Dell Inspiron 660s running Windows 8.1, and I just did a full boot of Ubuntu 13.10 onto a Dell Optiplex 330 that was previously running Windows XP.
My goal is to connect to the internet by using the 660s as a bridge to the internet by connecting the two computers with an ethernet cable.
The level of difficulty: My internet requires you to log into it on a separate browser log in page similar to those in airports and other public Wi-Fi access points except that it requires a username and password to log in.
My theory is that if I first log in to the internet on my Windows machine then I can connect to it by simply opening a connection from the Ubuntu OS to the Windows OS.
Am I off track here or am I on the right track? Anyone know how to do this?

I may have found a solution. I will test it and give more detailed instructions if it works, but in short, it is a registry fragment left over by the old network bridge.

And for no reason I've started getting this message every time I start my computer:

"Error loading nvCpl.dll
The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process."

How do I stop this?

Thanks!!

A:fault with nvCpl.dll on Windows XP

It appears to be a control panel applet for Nvidia display adapter. If you have this video adapter in your system, look for an updated driver.

A:Help please. Screen fault on windows 7

ok im had a similar problem in vista, i fond i had the problem whilst connecting to a network and playing games/videos etc... Try updating your graphics drivers or reinstalling them if they are new, and as unrelated it may seem if you are using a wifi card try updating or reinstall its driver. This seemed to work for me in vista but after a month or so it would start doing it again. Strangely enough i have never had the problem in win7.

Sorry if this doesn't help its just a suggestion from my past experiences..

a few weeks ago my computer stopped being able to automatically connect to wireless networks of any kind.. now whenever i want to go online wirelessly i must go to network connections and select a network.. that isn't the problem though.. the problem is that it fails to connect EVERY TIME and i must go through the troubleshooter.. which then tells me that the access point is bad (which is every access point on the planet) and still does not connect.. but, after going through this process a 2nd time it will connect. it has me confused. I know the first thing said is the driver is out of date, but since toshiba refuses to bring out a new one for this laptop and they have their own drivers for everything on this thing, there isn't much in that route i can do.

Hi,

I am using the SDLC Threat Modelling tool 2016 by Microsoft on a Windows 10 virtual Box 32-bit.

When I am trying to generate a final report, it discards all the different risk ratings for each threat, and instead of having the respective high, medium, low levels next to each threat, it produces a html report putting only high next to each
one of them.

Any help?

Hi
I got a new 40Gb hard drive to add to the 10Gb in an Athlon 550Mhz machine(MSI motherboard, haven't looked up exactly what, it was an Advent machine)
So I install the new drive as slave to the old one, the BIOS recognises it but when Windows loads up it doesn't. So I created a startup disk and ran fdisk, which was able to format the new drive and create a partition no problem.
So when I try to get back into windows, it displays a 'General Protection Fault' and shuts down the PC. The computer's booting from the old driv so I don't know how the new drive can stop it from booting. When I go back into Fdisk and delete the partition Windows works again but still doesn't detect the new hard drive...
So any ideas?

You need to zip the dump files before you can attach them. Files with a ZIP, RAR or 7Z extension are acceptable.

Dear Bleepers Please help For the past week I have been getting BSOD Paged Fault in Non-Paged Area CLASSPNP SYS It has happened times now The first time was when I Paged BSOD, 8.1, Fault, Windows Help!!!! inserted a flash drive as was the second and the third Either the second or third was actually my USB mouse but I cannot remember which time it was BSOD, Paged Fault, Windows 8.1, Help!!!! The th and th also had BSOD, Paged Fault, Windows 8.1, Help!!!! a USB mouse attached to the computer but the error did not happen when I initially plugged the USB device in as it did most of the other times I have read that this problem can be caused by faulty hardware faulty drivers and RAM going bad I am usually patient enough to read and find the problems and solutions myself but this is over my head Please help Some information about my computer to begin with Toshiba Satelite L -B Running Windows Ran whocrashed and all dumps are virtually identical BCC x description SCSI Class System Dll Bug check description This indicates that invalid system memory has been referenced This appears to be a typical software driver bug and is not likely to be caused by a hardware problem The crash took place in a standard Microsoft module Your system configuration may be incorrect Possibly this problem is caused by another driver on your system that cannot be identified at this time I am also running both Mcafee and malwarebytes have had some recent attacks - malware said it successfully blocked outgoing and incoming - I also read antivirus can cause this problem I don't know if this is even the proper way to ask for help but someone please take pity on me I am extremely distraught Thank you

A:Windows Fault no icons or taskbar

Before we start fixing anything you should print out these instructions or copy them to a NotePad file so they will be accessible. Some steps will require you to disconnect from the Internet or use Safe Mode and you will not have access to this page. Please download Dr.Web CureIt and save it to your desktop. DO NOT perform a scan yet.alternate download linkNote: The file will be randomly named (i.e. 5mkuvc4z.exe).Reboot your computer in "Safe Mode" using the F8 method. To do this, restart your computer and after hearing your computer beep once during startup (but before the Windows icon appears) press the F8 key repeatedly. A menu will appear with several options. Use the arrow keys to navigate and select the option to run Windows in "Safe Mode".Scan with Dr.Web CureIt as follows:Double-click on the randomly named file to open the program and click Start. (There is no need to update if you just downloaded the most current versionRead the Virus check by DrWeb scanner prompt and click Ok where asked to Start scan now? Allow the setup.exe to load if asked by any of your security programs. The Express scan will automatically begin.
(This is a short scan of files currently running in memory, boot sectors, and targeted folders). If prompted to dowload the Full version Free Trial, ignore and click the X to close the window. If an infected object is found, you will be prompted to move anything that cannot be cured. Click Yes to All. (This will move any detected files to the C:\Documents and Settings\userprofile\DoctorWeb\Quarantine folder if they can't be cured)After the Express Scan is finished, put a check next to Complete scan to scan all local disks and removable media. In the top menu, click Settings > Change settings, and uncheck "Heuristic analysis" under the "Scanning" tab, then click Apply, Ok.Back at the main window, click the green arrow "Start Scanning" button on the right under the Dr.Web logo. Please be patient as this scan could take a long time to complete. When the scan has finished, a message will be displayed at the bottom indicating if any viruses were found.Click Select All, then choose Cure > Move incurable. In the top menu, click file and choose save report list.Save the DrWeb.csv report to your desktop.Exit Dr.Web Cureit when done.Important! Reboot your computer because it could be possible that files in use will be moved/deleted during reboot. After reboot, post the contents of the log from Dr.Web in your next reply. (You can use Notepad to open the DrWeb.cvs report)

According to the Intel website the HD Sandy in 3000/2000 not 10 Intel 13 XPS Dell Windows on (L321X) HD supported (Sandy Graphics Bridge) Bridge graphics are not supported in Windows See link below It s the very last one listed under Intel Core Processors www intel com CS- htm I decided to give the Windows upgrade a shot on my Dell XPS L X since my Windows Update told me that my system was Windows compatible Intel HD 3000/2000 Graphics (Sandy Bridge) not supported in Windows 10 on Dell XPS 13 (L321X) However Intel HD 3000/2000 Graphics (Sandy Bridge) not supported in Windows 10 on Dell XPS 13 (L321X) after the upgrade I noticed the screen would become distorted intermittently In the meantime I ve currently disabled the graphics drivers that Windows automatically assigned to my computer after the upgrade in order to prevent the screen from distorting so I could post this message While this current graphics mode x is not pretty I was hoping someone Dell was aware of this issue and if there will be a patch fix for this issue It s a bit confusing that my system was considered to be Windows compatible as evidenced by the update only to find out after-the-fact that Intel specifically mentions that my particular graphics driver is not Windows compatible And since this intermittent screen distortion validates the issue at hand I m afraid I ll have to revert back to Windows So if anyone Dell knows of a possible fix I d appreciate it

For the record, I'm using the latest BIOS A08 for this laptop too, so that's already been verified.

A:Ntfs.sys PAGE FAULT IN NON PAGE AREA / Registry Fault

the error means that your PC asked for a page of memory , and the page was not available. when the operation could not continue, it BSOD'd and shut down. Its usually happens as a result of a hardware that is misfiring or failing. The 'Page_Fault_in_Nonpaged_Area' and "driver_irql_not_less_or_equal" BSOD's often show up consecutively and alternately. Things to try to correct or identify the problem are to restore your machine to the last know working configuration. if the problem keeps appearing run disk check for errors on your HDD. if that shows nothing, the next most likely suspect is a problem with the Ram. You can download any number of programs that will test your ram for errors. Win 7 has a built in memory test (not sure about the RC though) and you do not have to burn a disc to run it. Hope that helps some.

A:Windows XP Page Fault In Non Paged Area

Im having the same problem, I've changed HD, RAM, Graphics card, Mobo, updated drivers and BIOS, checked for malware, ran a CPU checker, memtest - the whole lot and it still crashes.

From day one I've been convinced its the processor (AMD Athlon 3000+) but Im yet to change this, spent enough already - might as well as just bought a new PC

Also Windows Explorer / Internet Explorer crashes alot too - dont know if this is the same with you or its a related problem?

I will probably not be much help here....however, you have piqued my curiosity.

Current Setup:
AMD PHENOM II X4 965 125W AM3 BLACK EDITION RETAIL BOXED
Gigabyte ATi Radeon 4850 with Zalman cooler
Asus M4A785TD-V EVO, AMD 785G Chipset, DDR3, AM3, ATX
OCZ 4GB PC3-10666 DDR3 Platinum Low Voltage (2x2GB)

Have updated all drivers and run all windows updates however I still randomly receive the Page Fault in Non paged area error 0x50

I will attach the recent memory dumps

I have tried running chkdsk /f /r and memtest numerous times, so that rules out those issues perhaps

Only had the components for around 2 -3 weeks

I've also cleared the page file and started a new one and the system doesn't overheat

I have a 120mm fan on the rear a 250mm on the side and a high speed 120mm on the front

This error can either be caused by faulty hardware or a service ...... start with checking your RAM Sticks i'd advise.

Hi,since uprading to windows 10 whenever I use a program called utorrent windows crashes with a blue screen and restarts saying Page Fault in Non Paged Area.
I checked my hd for errors and it found nothing.
I then tried turning off page settings, restarting then changing it to system managed but it still crashes as soon as I turn on utorrent.
I'm pretty sure it is not a hardware issue but I have no clue as to how to solve this.
Any help appreciated?
