Connecting multiple speakers to my laptop and controlling them individually

Q: Connecting multiple speakers to my laptop and controlling them individually

Hi,
I am creating a small demo software wherein 4 simple mono-audio speakers need to be connected to my laptop, the main program, written in Java will play audio from one of the speakers depending on the input cue.

How do I go about achieving this? Any tips, hints most appreciated.

TIA!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Connecting multiple speakers to my laptop and controlling them individually

First, the laptop audio is not a home sound system and can be easily overloaded with what you are attempting - - don't drive this at high output volumes!

this will show the wiring to get all 4 with output at the same time.

The speakers in parallel like this create a load 4x heavier than just one speaker.
Get 8ohm speakers like these http://www.radioshack.com/8-ohm-mini-speaker/2730092.html
which will reduce the load to only 2x.

The red circles are individual volume controls. Place a toggle switch between the controls and the speakers and you can play 1, 1+2, 1+2+3 or all four.

How do I connect two sets of speakers that work independently, i.e. one set remains at the computer desk playing a DVD and other in a different room playing online radio, to the same PC?

so I have a nice 4.1 speaker set that I want to use for my laptop. My laptop doesn't support it, so I was only able to do the 2.1.....it sounds nice, but I would really like the whole 4.1 feel.

Besides buying a $70+ pcmcia sound card, is there any other alternative? any other type of adaptor that I can plug in so I can use all 4 speakers?

some kind of splitter or someting, like those headphone splitter that I can plug in my laptop, and then plug my speakrs to it....will that work?

A:connecting speakers to laptop

The 2.1 in the laptop only produces a 2.1 audio stream
You need to reprocess the sound to get 4.1, which is a 4.1 sound card's function.

An external device cannot truly create 4.1 from 2.1, the required info is not actually in the audio stream. The best you would get is a psuedo 4.1, if such a device actually exists,

I am trying to connect my laptop through my amp to output from my speakers, I have bought the necessary cable, but I can not get the sound to switch from my laptop speakers to the external speakers. Is there anything else that needs to change or should it switch autonatically when I connect the cable at the headphone socjket on my laptop.

A:Connecting laptop to amp and speakers

Use the Headphone rather than the Line Out and it should take care of it.

I was just wondering if anyone could tell me if it's possible to hook up two desktop speakers to a laptop. I'll include technical information, but let me know if there's any other info you need.

The laptop doesn't seem to recognize the speakers when I connect them. I know the speakers work, so it must be a problem on the computer's end.

Info:
I'm running Windows 7 x64 on a Sony Vaio model PCG-7192L laptop. The speakers' model number is GEM2.0, and they connect to the laptop through a line-out connection. Unfortunately, I don't know the manufacturer, since they're a few years old and it doesn't say on the label. Hope that helps, though.

Hey all,
I have an HP laptop and was wondering if there is a way to hook up additional desktop speakers (without disabling the internal speakers). I can hook up the additional speakers to the laptop's output port, but that disables the internal ones. Basically, I want a total of four speakers instead of two. I don't know if this will help for the situation, but I have attatched the TSG SysInfo.

So i managed to get my bluetooth speakers and laptop paired, but the sound is still coming through the laptop speakers, i went into the audio area and the only option to playback is the laptop speakers.

The bluetooth speakers show up in devices, and it seems to know that they are speakers, but how do i make it show up in the audio area so i can choose to use them instead of laptop speakers?

Those options only effect the quality of the sound. Have you tried connecting the speakers to a normal HiFi as there is nothing particularly special about computer speakers.

I am using a HP 15 AF008ax AMD machine and running OS Windows 7 -32 Bit on it. The problem is that audio is playing through both the laptop speakers and the headphones/external speakers connected through 3.5mm audio output jack. Technically the laptop speakers should mute themselves whenever I connect an extrenal audio device like headphones or external speakers are connected through the 3.5mm audio out jack. However, it is not happening which is quite annoying and having searched a lot of places on the internet, HP Support Forum included, I have not yet received an answer with a satisfactory solution. If someone out there has been through the same or has knowledge about it, please let me know how to get rid of this nagging problem.  --- Jimmy

I am attempting to configure a Compaq laptop (running Windows XP with an on-board Ethernet interface) to physically connect to five separate sites that each have different network settings (IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway). I don't know about turning it on.

If the laptop has WIndows XP Pro and the desktop has XP, you can use the Remote Desktop feature for the control. If you don't have the right OSes, there are utilities available for doing the same thing. Search for "LAN remote control."

I keep my laptop with standard windows 8 on. But when I go out, I would like to remote control laptop using ipad or android tablets. I tried teamviewer. It makes lot of data traffic. But I am not sure whether that is optimal compared to other free remote control softwares available. I tried with logmein also. But logmein does not free have android app. Any light thrown on this will be appreciated. My criteria is
1) free software
2) with less internet data traffic compared to others
3) ease of use

The limitation would be that you will not be able to use RDP with the standard version of Windows. But the only real advantage of this is that it is easier to setup and doesn't require a 3rd party service to run continuously on your PC.

A:Controlling display behavior on close of laptop lid

Hi. Welcome, I'm a newbie too! Don't know if this is of any merit: I know on our Lenovo laptops in work you can change the display settings by holding down the Fn button and pressing F7 (on the laptop keyboard). This toggles the display window where you can specify how you want the displays to work. Seeing as you have uninstalled the Presentation Manager I don't know if this will still work. There is also a setting to control how the laptop works when the lid is closed. This can be found as follows: Control Panel > Power Management > Advanced Tab - Power buttons - When I close the lid...(Do nothing option). Don't know where it is in Vista though, sorry. I'm sure it's similar
Hope this helps!

A:Manually Controlling Laptop Cooling System?

Aside from gaming laptops, which typically supply such tools, it's generally not possible nor recommended. Many systems have the fan controls tied to the BIOS. Some have an app installed (not user configurable), which if it's altered or missing, the fan defaults to full speed.

In any case, good luck.

Check the volume control panel in the taskbar and make sure the sliders are high enough.

Try a different set of speakers.

Well...

If your card is like mine, the Line Out is for the 2 rear speakers, and the Speaker is for the front 2 speakers ( depends on how it is setup in the Sound properties )...

Is there some sort of unit I can buy to do transfer the music info/power to the speakers but use my current receiver and split it two ways?

Hi all,

I have a Dell XPS M1330 laptop and have recently upgraded to windows 7 professional (32bit) from windows vista. Everything seems to be running smoothly except I can get no sound from the internal laptop speakers. When I plug in external speakers in via the jacks on the front, sound comes through fine, but as soon as I unplug them there is nothing. Headphones also work like this too. Under sounds in device manager, it simply says 'High Definition Audio Device', and I'm not sure if I should be downloading some other drivers?

Any advice is welcome!
Thanks.

Hi,

I'm using a Packard Bell laptop, Windows Vista and a Realtek sound card.

I've searched a lot to find how to NOT mute my laptop speakers when I insert something in the audio-out-jack.

The next threads say it's not possible by the hardware:
techspot.com/vb/topic140707.html
techspot.com/vb/topic130170.html
They're closed, so I can't comment on them.

BUT when I dual boot to Ubuntu (using the same hardware), I can easily choose to mute the internal speakers, or the jack, or none at all. So why can't it be possible on Vista?

A:Same audio through laptop speakers and external speakers

You answered your own question... It's a software/OS issue. If Vista's Realtek options in the Control Panel don't give you the same options as in Ubuntu, you're out of luck

I've been browsing Google for the past four hours trying to find a way to connect my hi-fi speakers to my computer.
I obviously already know of the 3.5mm to phono method that connects to the AUX of my main hi-fi unit but I'm looking for a method to use only my speakers and not the main unit.
Each speaker connects via four exposed wires into the back of the main unit and then you close small clamps to lock them in place.
I've seen people have mentioned on several websites that it's possible to use a small amp/tuner to bypass the main unit but I'm still not sure.
The system in question is a Panasonic SA-PM28 and thanks in advance for any information you can give me.

At almost any electronics store you can purchase a Stereo to RCA Left/Right cord.

Has a stereo jack on one end that plugs into your audio-out on your computer, and the red/white RCA left/right jacks on the other end that go into that subwoofer.

Please help. I had this brilliant idea over the weekend, but have not been able to figure out how to put it into reality. I teach school and show several movies through out the year. We have an abundance of computer speaker systems. Wanted to hook those up to my DVD player for better sound. I know there has to be an adapter out there, but I can't seem to determine the correct search words. Speakers are all normal computer system with one black and silver end that plugs into the sound card. DVD player has 2 jacks in back of it for sound - one for left, and one for right. It says 2 CH. Audio Out. Could anyone possibly point me in the right direction?? Thank you so much!

A:Need Help connecting computer speakers to DVD

i'm assuming your dvd player has large round RCA type connectors. in that case, you'll need to buy a stereo multiple-out box (also referred to as a splitter box) and the appropriate cables.

a cheap alternative would be to take two identical pc speaker systems and patch one to the left output and one to the right output. but you'll still have to buy cables and perhaps an adapter

A:Help connecting computer speakers to flat screen TV

Hello arayfo1

The sound comes from your PC so why do you not connect your speakers directly to the audio output from your PC?

However, if you want the sound to go via your new TV then you have to make sure the audio as well as the video is being sent from your PC to your TV and so you need to use the HDMI cable connection which carries both video and audio signals. You will also need to set up the sound playback device on your PC to be the HDMI output too.

Perhaps you can describe exactly the connections you have made from your PC to your TV and then we can help further.

I have had this desktop for years without any issues. I use external speakers connected to the audio jack in the back. Once you plug in external speakers (or headset), the internal speakers get disabled as expected. Last night my PC automatically installed the Windows Anniversary Update (Feature update to Windows 10, version 1607). After this update, now both my internal speakers and external speakers are working at the same time! I cannot seem to disable the internal speakers without also disabling my external speakers. Lowering the volume affects both sets of speakers as well. I tried disabling audio and re-enabling but that didn?t help. How can I get back to my original audio behavior where connecting the external speakers (or headset) to the back 3.5mm jack would automatically disable the internal speakers? Thanks.

I currently have three comuters, all with Soundcards, but I have only been running one of the computers through a Creative Labs 5.1 speaker system. I've been using the digital connection from the soundcard (Creative Labs Audigy) to the speaker set. All of my computers have the same sound card, which leads me to my question; does anyone know of a way to hook up all three comuters to a single set of speakers, preferably using the digital connection?

I don't mind using an external device to manage the setup, but I would like something that will be outputting the sound from all three computers at the same time. I tend to use only one computer at a time, so I'm not worried about one comouter stepping on another computer...

Any help would be appreciated!

Can you number each page individually on one document.
Or start numbering them on page two.

A:using word. Number pages individually

Yes. If you want to start numbering on page two, there are a couple of ways to do that. One is to go to page layout and select "different first page." The other is to insert a "next page" section break at the bottom of the first page, and unlink the second page footer from the first page footer.

I'm trying to re-arrange the order of tabs in taskbar but those that are similar, move together in groups.
Let me explain with an example:
I want to place the Firefox tab between 2 explorer tabs but windows won't let me

I start draging Firefox to the left:
And Windows automatically moves Firefox tab past the 2 explorer tabs

I want to place the Firefox tab between those 2 tabs.
And a similar problem happens if I want to switch the order of those 2 explorer tabs: Windows won't let me place "Program Files (x86)" before "Program Files". If I try to drag one, both of them move at the same time in a group.

Is there a way to disable this "grouping" of tabs?

A:Is it possible to create simultaneous audio output from multiple speakers?

I can say that overall it is possible to do…maybe not with your specific hardware setup. For example, if you are using a system using AirPlay to stream (i.e. Airport Expresses connected to speakers, other computers, iOS devices, AppleTV), then iTunes music can be streamed with to multiple locations with no additional software. I have such a setup. If you want to stream non-iTunes content, then you can use a third-party program called Airfoil to stream that other content. Now, obviously, unless you want to switch gears to an Airplay system (or something else, the above does not seem to help much.Where is helps is that maybe there is some other third party application that can do something similar for your situation. You might see if this helps:http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/66484-63-output-audio-devices-time

I have a home stereo system 4 speakers and a sub that I want connected to my computer. The problem I'm having is that while I want those connected, I also want a set of computer speakers connected as well so I can switch to them when playing games or what not then switch over to the home stereo system (from cd to aux or whatever, just a different input) when blasting music. All I know is that the one output works or whatever (green one) but I don't know if I can use another output or input. I have about 6 audio jacks in my comp with a RealTek soundcard. Can ne one help me?

A:How do you connect multiple speakers using 2 different outputs from reciever to comp?

Most computer and audio shops have "mixer" connectors... but if you want to have separate volume controls for each set, you need to get fancy. Buy a control box designed for the purpose... acts the same way a preamp does... usually about $30 to $40.

Hi, I just used System Restore a couple days ago to recover from a bad Windows Update install. It has saved my hide a few times.

These 'points' have accumulated over time and are about to reach its capacity (75GB). After it reaches this threshold, I fear my manual updates are going to be eaten away. Is there any way to keep the manual points I've made, but remove the points Windows has automatically generated?

Hi -
It is generallyregarded that if today is a "good day" then why not set a fresh batch of restore points starting from now.

When you have a problem or infection, you reset all points once the problem is fixed.
To go back beyond this point means that you are entering areas of infection or problems -

I just reset every few months if all is OK, and that is all I have needed ......

Others may have opinions, but these are just mine -

Thank You -

Greetings and Welcome to The Forums!!My name is Gringo and I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems. I have put together somethings for you to keep in mind while I am helping you to make things go easier and faster for both of usPlease do not run any tools unless instructed to do so.
We ask you to run different tools in a specific order to ensure the malware is completely removed from your machine, and running any additional tools may detect false positives, interfere with our tools, or cause unforeseen damage or system instability. Please do not attach logs or use code boxes, just copy and paste the text.
Due to the high volume of logs we receive it helps to receive everything in the same format, and code boxes make the logs very difficult to read. Also, attachments require us to download and open the reports when it is easier to just read the reports in your post. Please read every post completely before doing anything.
Pay special attention to the NOTE: lines, these entries identify an individual issue or important step in the cleanup process. Please provide feedback about your experience as we go.
A short statement describing how the computer is working helps us understand where to go next, for example: I am still getting redirected, the computer is running normally, etc. Please do not describe the computer as "the same", this requires the extra step of looking back at your previous post.NOTE: At the top of your post, click on the Watch Topic Button, select Immediate Notification, and click on Proceed. I want to know how to save clips INDIVIDUALLY in Windows movie maker .
I capture video from handycam tape (Digital8) with Windows Movie Maker.
I capture the entire tape automatically and save it to one AVI file.
When wizard finishes capturing it also create clips.
Collection includes many clips named dd.mm.yyyy hh:mm.
This date and time information is crucial for me.
I want to keep thisinformation so that I'll be able to search for recorded clips by date.
I can drag and drop each clip to timeline or storyboard and save it separatelly.
But I don't want to do this manually. There are way to many of them.
I want all those clips to be separatelly saved with
date and time information included in name of file.
Can that be done?

A:Saving clips individually in Windows Movie Maker

Hi,

Once the clips are imported into WM maker go to the file menu & save/ export them, one & all. You should be able to save them in the file name format you see them in or rename them to what you want.

If you want to add many files at the same time select them drag & drop them in in one go. Please ensure the files are positioned in the right order in your production video.

How should I go about connecting multiple switches? Should I connect one switch to the other and then connect the file server to the last switch or should I have one switch acting as a backbone to other switches and then connect the server to the backbone switch? Or is there any other better way? by better way I am trying to stress on the performance and security point. thanks.

A:connecting multiple switches

Without knowing the type of switches you are talking about, the devices you are looking to connect, the type of traffic you plan on supporting on this network, and where these devices are going to be physically located relative to one another, it is hard to give a proper recommendation.

But in general, you need to group connections for devices you know will use a lot of bandwidth. When I say group connections, you need to place these devices on the same physical switch. This allows the communication between devices to stay on the same physical switch's backplane. If this is not possible based on your plan, you need to look into capacity planning with your uplink connections between switches. This means looking at faster uplink connections or the use of port aggregation.

In terms of security, I don't know what your parameters are for better security. You need to elaborate on this.

Can you please leave any advice and opinions pertaining to multiple switches connecting together. In every office in our building has 3 to 5 switches connecting together and we have total of 17 offices.  then my IT manger complaining the slow performance of our network. so he ask me to give any ideas whats going on, he insist that the network connection is the caused and not on the server. so i checked the network connection in every office then i noticed 1, 2 or 3 switches connecting together. also 1 unit of wireless router every office. network cables are old.  Thank you in advance for the reply

A:Multiple switches connecting together

This topic should be in Networking. In commercial use, a hub or switch should feed 16 users. In good practice there should not have to ever be more that two switches from any users to thew main server. But each office can has its own layout. If the system is really several years old, like maybe over 15 years and has grown, it may be time to review the entire topology.  You may need the help of outside consultants.Something that complex can not be resolved with a few changes if it  is a large system. How many workstations are there? Over 100?You said 3 to 5 switches. That sounds very huge.

I would like to connect a variety of wireless devices in my house to my work VPN while allowing other devices in the house access to my home network as normal.

I was hoping to find a wireless ADSL router that allows me to associate a LAN port to a VPN connection, then connect a wireless access point to that port. I could then run two wireless networks in my house, one that would connect to my work VPN and the other that would not.

Is there such a router?

If not, is there some other way of doing what I need?

A:Connecting to Multiple networks simultaneously

Hi and Welcome to TSG!

The following is directly from microsoft.
There are a number of scenarios where it is desirable to have a wireless device connect to multiple networks simultaneously. Currently, this is possible only by using multiple wireless network cards in the device. Unfortunately, using multiple wireless cards causes excessive energy drain and consequent reduction of lifetime in battery operated devices. In this paper, we propose a software based approach, called MultiNet, that facilitates simultaneous connections to multiple networks by virtualizing a single wireless card. The wireless card is virtualized by introducing an intermediate layer below IP, which continuously switches the card across multiple networks. The goal of the switching algorithm is to be transparent to the user who sees her machine as being connected to multiple networks. We present the design, implementation, and performance of the MultiNet system. We analyze and evaluate buffering and switching algorithms in terms of delay and energy consumption. Our system has been operational for over twelve months, it is agnostic of the upper layer protocols, and works well over popular IEEE 802.11 wireless LAN cards.Click to expand...

Hope that helps in a way.
Kind Regards
Anthony

Hello everyone,

I am working in a company, where I have been given the license to play around with some computers in a lab, whilst maintaining the network settings on each machine.

There are 10 computers, each of which has XP Pro SP3 on them, they are connected to each other via an active hub and use the network 10.0.0.0 with subnet 255.255.255.0, there is no gateway/DNS setting.

My problem: I have an internet point in the room, and at the moment I can only connect the internet to one machine, but I want to connect every machine to the internet, any ideas on how to do this would be a great help.

If you need anymore information, please ask.

I have a belkin g ADSL router in one building linked to a netgear WAG wireless AP in the same building and a db aerial outside I then have another netgear WAG in another building with a db aerial and I got this working setting the first WAG as a repeater with client extensions with the belkin being the child and the points multiple connecting access other WAG being the parent Now I wish to connect another wireless AP in another building I have a netgear WG this time and another db aerial one problem I have is I do not know what the IP address of the parent WAG is and when looking on the attached devices of the belkin it does not list it the second problem is I tried setting the new WG as a bridge with the MAC address of the parent connecting multiple access points but this did not work I thought of setting the WG as a point to multipoint bridge but in order to do this I assume that I must reconfigure the other AP s and I am nervous of doing this incase I go backwards in my setup as when I tried to get the first two netgear AP s working using a bridge it did not work hence why I resorted to a setting it as a repeater The new AP must connect to the current parent WAG due to location and distance I hope this is enough information for someone to help me I can go on but I do not know how much you need to know to give me a solution that works The purpose is to provide the final building with all around wireless amp wired internet connection using another router in the final building Thanks in advance for you help nbsp

So I have several computers behinds a Connecting outside behind to computers multiple the routers from Linksys router I would like to access each computer through the outside by adding another name as a network prefix Let s say each computer would be designated as Mouse Cat and Dog Take SSH for example I would want to SSH into one computer using port by means of ssh email protected and the other by ssh email protected I know I could just use different ports for Connecting to multiple computers behind routers from the outside ssh and have them be forwarded to the different computers with the router and achieve the same effect but I was wondering how I would Connecting to multiple computers behind routers from the outside do it this other way How would this setup work Does it use a DNS server I know I can access different machines on my school this way but I was curious on how this is actually implemented and if I could do it on my home network You don t have to give me specific details just a general direction into what I can research Thanks so much nbsp

I had a printer, a scanner and a zip drive connected to my PC and everything was working fine. I just purchased a HP Deskjet 1220C and because I needed to use it right away disconnected everything and connected the HP. Now I want to reconnect everything else back and I don't remember how it was connected before or how to connect it now and add the printer. I also have a data switch box for the 2 printers. Can someone please help me? I don't know anything about parallel and serial ports or USBs.

A:Connecting multiple printers, scanner and zip

Plug the Zip drive directly into the computer to avoid loss of data.

Daisy chained out from the computer:
Zip Drive, Scanner, Printer-at the end of the line.
