I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I was reading Korrupts guide to getting a new computer, and I am looking at the MOBO (Motherboard-ASUS A8N-SLI Premium Socket 939) and CPU (AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ Manchester) that he recommended, then I noticed that the MB's specs said that the supported CPU was Athlon 64 FX/Athlon 64 and made no mention of the 64 x2... The MB has the right socket (939) but would the CPU be able to run? Thanks in advance!

btw, the links to the parts on newegg are right here:

Yeah, its fine. I run the same board and a 4400+ X2 and no problems at all. Actually, the chipset fan on the motherboard keeps dying on me, but that may be due to my power supply not cutting it.

Does anyone out there know when Asus is releasing an Athlon 64 motherboard that has an Nforce chipset? They have one board out now for the Athlon 64 that has a VIA chipset and another one out anyday or may be already out that is a little better also with a VIA chipset but I have not heard a release date on a Nvidia chipset? The only one I have seen is the Asus SK8N but that is for the Athlon 64 or the Opteron CPU's. I guess if they don't hurry up I will have to go with MSI or Gigabyte but I really really like Asus boards. I have built lots of PC's with Asus boards and never have had a problem ever. If anyone knows a link to some info about this.....I would be very interested.

A:Asus UX51VZ-IS71T: Question on Asus Support?

I had correspondence with ASUS via e-mail. It was a while ago now, I think it was a link on their web site. It was a waist of time really. I wasn't impressed. Replies took forever and the answers seemed to be scripted responses. I eventually just gave up asking any more questions. My issue was with creating recovery media. At that time there was no way of creating a recovery disk set in Windows 8.0. The utility I was referred to only worked in Windows 7. It became a non issue when I put an SSD in my laptop and did a clean install of 8.0.

Most of those contracted out call centers go by a flow chart. Ask this question, if the answer is yes, take this branch, if its no, take this other branch. The person asking you the questions may have no technical background at all. As soon as you say I don't know, your basically screwed. Assuming you can actually understand what they are saying. I'm not racist, but I don't think its unreasonable to be able to talk to somebody that is fluent in my native language. It seems to be the luck of the draw sometimes. I've had some that I could understand easily, and some that were almost impossible to understand.

First off this desktop is no longer standard. I have upgraded the power supply, graphics card and CPU. I currently have the stock Motherboard which is the HP Orchid-S (MS 7906). I have previously upgraded the CPU to a Athlon X4 860K. This CPU is not listed in the supported  processors for that motherboard but works perfectly. Unfortunately my GPU is severly bottlenecked by this CPU so I was looking to upgarde. First I looked at overclocking my current CPU, but of course HP BIOS does not allow this and when I tried AMD Overdrive, that just ended in disater. So I have two options.  1. Upgrade my Motherboard to support a AM3+ CPU and replace my CPU with a FX 8320. 2. This would be my prefered option as money is very tight. Upgrade my CPU to the X4 880K with my current Motherboard. But does anyone know if this CPU would be compatible?

If press <Del> when booting, the screen showme the memory test, show 512 MB OK, detect the mouse, then do nothing, no beep no voice. Then I can´t run the setup BIOS, the <F8> key do nothing.

Please help me. Any idea will be wellcome .

A:No boot in a Asus K8V SE with Athlon 64. Please, HELP !!

Welcome to TechSpot
To run the BIOS setup, you have to press the "Del" or "Delete" key at startup.
Check that it finds your HD and CDrom.
Set the boot-sequence as: first floppy, if you have one, then CDrom, then Harddisk.
Next, partition your HD in 20GB and 100GB, format both partitions in NTFS for Win-2000 or Win-XP, set the first 20GB partition as active.
Then install Windows on the first 20GB partition.
Only then will F8 function to e.g. start in safe mode.

I have seen this in a problem similar to mine. I have an ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe mobo and an Athlon 2800 2 gig chip that is running at 1200 right now. Windows registers it as the Athlon M10 and bios has no recognition now. It was originally seen as a mobile Athlon 600-800 mhz. I have updated my ASUS bios to 1013 and the chip is running at 200 bus speed. I tried the chip at 300 and the system would not boot. SiSoft Sandra seems to state the board supports up to 3 gig chips. Is there anything I have not done, besides overclocking, that is preventing my cpu's full potential from rearing it's head? Anyone have the answer?

Your post is a little confusing , but if I got it ; You are trying to Clone anO/S off of another system to a new hardware profile . XP will not tolerate that jump ,with out a clean install. If you can boot the WD in it's original Box you could pull an installation disk off of it provided you have the license Key, and the XP was originally loaded from a Microsoft disk. Dell puts a BIOS confirmation in their Installation disks so that could be a problem if the OEM version XP is just an upgrade.

I haven't received my Athlon 1.4ghz CPU yet, but I have assembled almost all my computer together and just wanted to test it. With the CPU not in the socket, but the video, RAM, speaker, and LEDs plugged in, I receive no sounds/beeps. My motherboard manual says I should at least receive one beep to indicate no errors and other series of beeps to indicate errors. Do I need the CPU in the socket to actually get the beeps (I switched the speaker connection and still received nothing)?? Am I supposed to get beeps without the CPU in the socket??

I beleive you have to have a cpu in the socket for anything, without it the system just acts dead.

I tried oc-ing myself, but i cant get the CPU FSB past 225.
the normal voltage @ 2.6GHz was about 1.39V so i added a lil voltage, to 1.45V, but still it wouldnt post if i set FSB over 225.
I was scared that too much voltage would damage the processor so i stopped adding at 1.45000 volts.
I set Advanced clock calibration to all cores, rest of the settings are set to AUTO.

A:Asus A7N8X Deluxe with AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+?

Sorry, you won't be able to do that. Your motherboard has socket type A, while an Athlon 64 X2 requires an AM2 slot.

It does however support AMD Duron, Athlon and AthlonXP (3000+). Processors from those lines should be fine.

I just bought a AMD Athlon XP 2600+ Barton today! and god was i looking forward to ditching my old duron 1ghz.. anyway i installed it and booted it up.. thats when all hell broke loose

It only wants to work stable at 1153mhz.. i've emailed Asus and they gave me the settings of 166 11.5 8-3-3-3.. i tried them and no luck

i updated the bios to the latest and still no luck.. friends have tried helping me and once again no luck :/

i just invested my last penny in the ram and cpu so i cant afford to buy another motherboard :/

if anyone could help it would be great thanks

PS. i've searched these forums and others 100 times and i've tried all the suggestions tis why i resorted to my last and final pitch to get this to work

A:Asus A7N8X-X AMD Athlon XP 2600+ Barton

Wha kind of memory do you have ? ( Brand, Model, etc ). Is it PC2700 & is it set to run in Sync with the FSB ?

Is the heatsink properly installed ? Did you apply a thin layer of Artic Silver or was there a thermal pad at the bottom of the heatsink ?

The 2600+ Barton is meant to run at 1917mhz ( 11.5 * 166mhz ) right now it's running at 1155 so I suppose -> 11.5 * 100mhz. Have you tried upping the FSB to 133 first ?

Do that & go in the BIOS to monitor CPU & System temps.

heya guys, I'm half way through building my new system I currently have the Asrock M3A790GXH/128M motherboard and i am looking to buy the Athlon II quad core 620 as I can get it pretty cheap.

My question is on the asrock site it says "Support for Socket AM3 processors: AMD Phenom? II X4 / X3 (except 920 / 940) and Athlon II X4 / X3 / X2 processors"

However in the cpu support list it says that it does support it?

Can any one clear this up for me?

The asrock K10nSLI board says it does not support the athlon 620 on its current bios, however this is not true.

Any help would be greatly appreciated :slurp:

I believe the AM2 socket is no longer supported but their are faste CPU's available such as the AMD 64 x2 6000+ or the AMD 64 x2 5600+.

I am not sure how to check for compatible motherboard upgrades e.g. to AM3. Can you get the motherboard complete with CPU or do you have buy them separately?

Greetings all.

I've built a system for a customer with an A7V400-MX MB and
an AMD Sempron 2400+ as the processor.

Upon starting the computer, it shows the processor as an
Athlon XP 1000.

I figured all I'd need was a BIOS update, so I grabbed the
newest version for the MB (1009) and flashed.

Still detects as Athlon XP 1000.

Upon installing XP, XP also shows it as an XP 1000.

What the hell... I can't give this guy this machine showing
as an Athlon 1000 as he'll think I'm ripping him off and it's
probably running it at 1000 anywho.

Another note: I purchased DDR 333 Ram and it shows
it as DDR 266.

So so far this MB (Man I hate VIA chipsets) is 0/2 on detection.

Anyone experienced anything similar? Any ideas?

I've got till Monday to deliver.

Thanks in advance,

Before you attempt to overclock your pc you must think about heat!! If you only have a stock cpu heat sink and fan then you wont get very far.

A couple of days ago I had to flash my BIOS on a brand new motherboard see above I did it by direct live download of the new BIOS from the ASUS BIOS Luxe K8V 64, Athlon problem De 3400+ SE ASUS MOBO, WIN s Interface but apparently something went wrong and I am now left without any workable BIOS It goes about American Megatrends-Bios and the screen on which I end up after failing readings of the drives says quot CMOS Checksum Bad Press F to run setup or F to load default values quot no effect at all neither of them Also I have tried various Key-combinations quot Del Ctr-Home etc quot to bring back to life the BIOS However it seems as if the BIOS has become corrupt and the socalled quot Crash-Proof quot feature cannot be applied The drives on my newly build computer which otherwise functions very well are quot dead quot however work mechanically but cannot be read - thus I cannot neither use a BIOS problem ASUS K8V SE De Luxe MOBO, Athlon 64, 3400+ copy of the first BIOS which I took and placed on a diskette when installing and setting up the mobo nor can I use the contents of the CD that followed the Mobo I have heard saying that one could uninstall the MOBO battery for a short while and then insert it again others say that it BIOS problem ASUS K8V SE De Luxe MOBO, Athlon 64, 3400+ is necessary to remove some jumpers for a while others again mean that both actions are necessary The ASUS Manual E seems to talk only about upgradings of flash - nothing about the case when if one ends up in quot my quot situation Would indeed be very happy to learn from any of you more experienced about the proper procedure to follow in such a case thanks a lot Best regards Oeksen nbsp

A:BIOS problem ASUS K8V SE De Luxe MOBO, Athlon 64, 3400+

In my waiting for possible good suggestion I have now a couple of times performed the following, as suggested in the ASUS-manual, section 2.6 in order to erase the RTC RAM:
Turned off the computer and unplugged the power cord
Removed the battery
Moved the jumper from pos. 1-2 to 2-3 for 10 sec. and then back again
Replaced the battery
Plugged the power cord and turned on the computer
Held down the "Del-Key" and few otheralternative key-combinations during boot,

but....the drives are still not read, thus the BIOS default settings could not be performed.

Now the AMI-screen says:
"CMOS Setttings wrong
CMOS Date/Time not set
Press F1, respectively F2"

Apparently the wordings are now slightly different, see above, however, the negative result the same!

Still looking forward to good advices, maybe from the moderators, if not any others can help...thanks. Oeksen 37+

I just installed Win10 on a 2nd partition (dual boot) from an ISO, but without the Asus mobo drivers CD (yet). The Asus site says this:

"The following motherboards offer Windows 10 driver for OS upgrade and compatible installation" and my Z87M-Plus mobo is listed.

but nothing to click on to download anything. Anyone know what this means? Does it mean old disc will work or MS provided full support on initial install? Every thing seems to work so far but fonts are a bit small, so I expect the screen res is not what I had earlier with the Win10 eval install.

Does anyone have any feedback on how well it installs preserving all orig apps? Will it work if most of my apps are actually on a separate drive? Did that to save space on the SSD where "C" sits.

They were pretty good a year or so ago. Now they don't even respond to support issues whether from the forum or from their webform.

A:What has happened to Asus support?

Maybe you were lucky last year. I used Asus boards for several years and never had a good experience with support generally. Mostly due to flaky web sites rather than outright non-response to a submitted issue, but it was enough to make me give up on Asus.

I don't think any of the motherboard manufacturers will win any support awards. You just have to hope you can avoid their customer support entirely.

I bought a Gigabayte a couple of months ago and actually got a response to a question within 48 hours---more than I expected.

Problem is, I can't get ahold of ASUS at all. The faster of those two uses older 0.13micron building process, and is cheaper because of that.If you are on a budget and not overclocking, get the cheaper one, because it is faster.

They have the same clock speed, same cache, same interface, and virtually the same performance in benchmarks... (the cores are different, thats it [and only on some models])
So whats the difference justifying the 200-250 Dollar price break????

A:Switching from athlon 3000 to AMD Athlon 64 X2

You'll have to change motherboards too as the processors you mention fit in different sockets. Then it is advisable to reload and start from scratch due to different setup/drivers for the motherboard.

Yesterday I had a PC technician around to see why my PC was not booting-up properly and also to change my SSD to a larger SSD. As I am visually challenged I cannot do hardware upgrades etc, so I got a Techie guy in.

We used Zinstall HDD by-the-way and I would highly recommend this application for such a job plus, it is extremely fast.

Anyway, while he was diagnosing my boot-up issue he discovered I had a malfunctioning network card; while removing this, he noticed all the SATA settings were set to SATA 2.

When he reset these to SATA 3, the PC would not start-up! When he set them again to SATA 2 there was no problem and it worked fine?

Can anyone illuminate me on this please?

Thanks for any/all imput

A:SATA 3 not working on Asus P6X58D-E motherboard with SATA III support

Many people have had issues with the Marvell controller on that MB.
You may want to live with SATA 3g/s. Easiest path, no real difference except for benchmarks, and no chance of data loss.
But in case you're not satisfied with that, here's something to look at.

What is the difference between an Athlon 64 FX-53 and an Athlon 64 4000+

A:Athlon 64 FX-53 vs Athlon 64 4000+

Mainly, the price. The 4000+ is a newer chip if it is the San Diego. The FX-53 will have unlocked multipliers but to be truthful I'd rather have the 4000+ San Diego than the FX-53.

The older 4000+ was 130 nm technology while the newer one is 90 nm tech. 90 nm runs cooler on less vcore and has SSE3 instructions.

Entering the bios limits me to certain options. Is there anyway to access the other options? sorry, newbie here.

A:No "usb legacy support" "qfan" options on my asus laptop bios.

If your BIOS doesn't include such options, then they simply are not there.

I don't know about hacking BIOS's, and I wouldn't suggest it at all. You could brick your motherboard.

However, you should check with your manufacturer's website and see if there is an update available for the BIOS that may increase available options.

We are Dell resellers and had placed an order for 43 Laptops - Dell Latitude 3560 with Dell on 13th June, 2016. We delivered them to our customer on Friday 17th June, 2016. On Monday 20th June we discovered that all the Laptops are faulty and are not functioning properly. They have not been able to use a single system due to touchpad issues in the entire lot
We have made innumerable calls Dell to resolve the problem, but the team is unable to identify and rectify the problem.
We have spoken to our partner account manager, regional account manager, Service Specialist and Escalation Team, requesting them to provide us with a solution at the earliest as their work is getting hampered. Our customer has to deploy the same by 1st July however they do not have any Dell Laptops functioning correctly.
How do we escalate this to the Dell management and get a replacement ASAP

I shouldn't have to be jumping through so many hoops just to uninstall a program.  This is driving me crazy and I haven't found an answer online yet.

This is a General question regarding the end of support for XP. I realise at the end date the computer should be backed up in case you have to format the disc at any time after the end of the support period.

My question is does the built in Windows back up in XP when backing up the system include the installed updates? Or is it best to use third party software to do this.

A:[SOLVED] End ofThis is a general question regarding the end of support for XP support

I believe Windows just backs up your personal files and won't do the entire OS. You'll need a 3rd party program to do the entire HDD.

Also you really should think about upgrading to Windows 7. Staying on XP after the end support date is not recommended as you will lose security updates from Microsoft as well as patches.

After reading through dozens of pages here and in the ASUS forums, I discovered that one of my default BIOS setting mysteriously ended up in a non-default state. For some reason, the RAID option for Silicon Image was set to RAID. That's fine for those how actually want to setup RAID but I didn't plan to use RAID at the time. After making the change to the BIOS, I had to install Windows XP again to get everything registered correctly. Once Windows was up and running, I avoided the motherboard chipset install CD all together by using only the newest versions of all the motherboard drivers directly from the ASUS website. My almost 3 year old Asus X52 F3SV Notebook suddenly froze and shut itself down today. It will not boot past the 'Asus' logo screen. The furthest it got was 'loading windows', but quickly rebooted once that screen showed up.
It has been running quite hot lately, but i cleaned the fan out last weekend, and it had been running without problem since then.
I'm running Windows Vista Premium, with no other real problems until now, with up to date windows updates and regular Spybot and anti-virus scans.
There were random multicoloured lines running through the Asus screen on the first reboot after freezing. Could it be my graphics card? (Nvidia 8600m). I did not hear any crackling/popping sounds, so I really hope it's not dead yet.
I've looked around these forums, but couldn't find a similar problem/solution.

Thank you.

A:Asus x52 F3SV notebook not booting past Asus screen

Try running Bios defaults

This settings area can be called:
Bios Setup
CMOS Settings
System Setup
even just Setup
You can enter it by pressing the keyboard key that is displayed on your screen when first turning on your computer
Its sometimes:
A Fn Button like F1, or F2, or F10 or some other Fn key
DEL key
(whatever the computer states on screen when you first turn on your computer)
Once in Bios Setup, locate Setup Defaults (sometimes called Optimized Defaults)
Apply it, then Save and Exit Bios Settings (which is usually F10, but it will tell you in the Bios Settings screen)

If that doesn't help try reming and re-seating your Ram cards (even your hard drive)
You can download your Manual to find the locations of these components, but they are usually located under the laptop, under the covers

If it is your Video card (onboard) then that was be a big concern
You may need to locate the disassemble guide online, then blow out all internal dust

It may also require a CheckDisk scan
You can read HERE on how to do that outside Windows

Hello I have in my possession an Asus X CA laptop which was running Windows before it failed to boot The machine cycled through the automatic repair failed and then using Unable recovery X550CA DVDs Asus restore Asus to did nothing The advanced bootup options were useless including chkdsk sfc and the usual suspects The recovery partition was apparently missing atleast I couldn't use it but doing a diskpart confirmed it was there so I suspect the upgrade broke the link to it I tried the quot refresh your PC quot Unable to restore Asus X550CA using Asus recovery DVDs option but this told me the drive was locked and disabling secure boot via the BIOS did nothing thought it would at first In addition the reset your PC option wanted recovery media which I didn't Unable to restore Asus X550CA using Asus recovery DVDs have at the time I ordered the official Asus recovery DVDs as the laptop did not have media created when it was new hit F and went to the quot reset your PC' option but it told me the recovery media wasn't valid Odd given it's official Asus media from Mentor Media for that specific machine From the legacy BIOS I booted from the DVD it loaded the Asus specific Windows recovery options from the disk and I get as far as quot Start rebuild Windows system process quot with quot processing quot underneath and the machine does no more I've also tried UEFI booting from the DVD drive and get the same as above Any suggestions welcome please Regards

A:Unable to restore Asus X550CA using Asus recovery DVDs

Is the ASUS recovery media Windows 8.0 or 8.1? It may be because the recovery disks are 8.0 and it's a conflict because your now running 8.1. The 8.0 to 8.1 upgrade does break the factory recover feature on some laptops. ASUS for sure I think. I have a K75DE, that shipped with Windows 8.0. I clean installed with Windows 8.1 from here, Create installation media for Windows 8.1 - Windows Help. It reads and uses my 8.0 OEM embedded code and activates online automatically. no muss no fuss. That tool will create a bootable USB thumb drive that will work with UEFI for you. If you need any more info just ask and i'll see if I can help. I don't know why your getting the "Start rebuild Windows system process" message and the lock up? It may be because the partition structure has changed on the Drive. I created a Recovery drive, then swapped in an SSD and it would not work on the SSD. It kept saying required partition missing. That's why I bailed and did a clean install. I was leaning in that direction anyway.

EDIT: If I don't get back to you tonight don't panic. I have company coming and may not get back online until tomorrow morning. Have to go now.

Not sure I understand how you could perform a factory reset if you don't have the recovery partition available. You should have gotten an error that the ASUS Recovery Partition could not be found.

You would need to get to a working computer and download either the Media Creation Tool for W10, or the current ISO from MSTechBench. You can use RUFUS to create a bootable flash drive, and then install W10 that way.

You might also want to check the health of your hard drive, to make sure it's not failing.

Hope that helps!

A:NEW!! Asus P6X58-E WS MB. No Win8 Drivers on Asus website?

From what I found on the Asus site....
ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download P6X58-E WS
They are only providing drivers up to Windows 7 64 Bit. You can go to the file manager and click one time on the primary HDD and then click computer tab and from there click on manage. From there you click device manager and you will get a list of your hardware. You can right click on each one and click update driver and the system will try to find the updated driver for you. If anything you now have your hardware name and can try to get the updated driver through the actual company who builds the drivers.

It also does sound like you may need to format the HDD's. Do the same thing but instead of clicking on device manager you will click on disk management and you can right click on each drive and select to format. Just make sure to not format the primary partition if that is even possible.

P.s. In case you were wondering I am building a gaming/video editing pc for around 1500 bucks

A:Asus Maximus VI Hero or Asus Z87-A LGA 1150

The Maximus VI Hero is no more stable than the Z87-A. The Maximus is more gamer oriented due to its overclocking features (which the Z87-A has, but not to that extent). If you can get a Z87 Sabertooth, that is probably the best in terms of reliability because it protects the components from dust.
