I'm having some serious issues with my PC; I recently switched Motherboards to an M2N-SLI board with my Radeon HD 4880 graphics card. I updated my drivers and everything, but I still get crashes whenever I start a graphics intensive game (Portal 2, even CS:S) I'm not sure what it could be. Any help available?
I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)
When you changed motherboards did you re-use the old hard drive? If so, did you reinstall Windows or perform a Windows repair? If neither, then try a repair first. If that doesn't work, you may have to reinstall Windows from scratch.http://www.techspot.com/community/topics/radeon-hd-4880-crashes-after-switching-to-m2n-sli-mobo.165104/
This problem has the configuration listed in my system specs below which have just changed recently My OCZ Vertex died RMA'ed but sold and replaced with the Transcend SSD quot SATAIII GB Also sold my GPU Now trying to get everything back on track I reinstalled my OS on the SSD but I can't for the life of me get the HDMI working When reinstalling I knew it was normal onboard mobo Mobo HD - HDMI? ATI detecting not Radeon ASUS 4250 for only my Dell CRT to show up via its VGA connection but then the main ViewSonic HD monitor never came on I finally realized it wasn't responding to anything The ViewSonic HD monitor is the only thing plugged in right now on both VGA amp HDMI but Mobo not detecting HDMI? - ATI Radeon HD 4250 onboard ASUS mobo will only work on the VGA It had been working fine before the OCZ SSD died No VGA problems The onboard ATI Radeon Mobo not detecting HDMI? - ATI Radeon HD 4250 onboard ASUS mobo HD is fully updated and all the drivers are installed and updated to the best of my knowledge There is an update for the BIOS on the ASUS website that I had never installed ever but the only change from before was the SSD so that should not matter I've even made sure I installed the specific driver for the monitor from the disc it came with I tried playing around in BIOS and for once no matter what graphics device order I set i e IGPX-PCI-GPX-etc it always reverted to the mobo's VGA And obviously Device Manager is showing no yellow question marks and is generally no help right now Again there is NO longer a standalone GPU video card in this system just the ASUS M A TD-V EVO USB 's onboard internal graphics ATI Radeon HD Is there something I'm missing Anything I could possibly try Any ideas FYI I knew my OS image was horribly out of date so I didn't bother trying to reinstall that Also since the GB size of the SSD is smaller now wouldn't it not work anyway Well that's moot
It's plausible that your HDMI port on your MOBO is dead. Is it possible to obtain a GPU and try it's HDMI port?
It could be your monitor as well, do you have access to anything else supporting HDMI and see if your monitor connects?
I have a Windows Bit HP Pavilion g t- Select Edition notebook PC I like to game on my laptop and I recently discovered that alongside the Intel Graphics card that my laptop uses there is also a Radeon HD Series graphics card I am trying to make it so that the games that I m playing run off of the Radeon instead of the Intel card I have done much research Radeon Intel Switching to into the subject and found out that I need to get into the Catalyst Control Center I have downloaded that and downloaded the newest drivers for my card Everytime I try to open up the CCC I get an error message saying that it cannot be started because there are currently no Switching Intel to Radeon settings that can be configured Also every time I turn on my computer Switching Intel to Radeon it says that there are no graphics drivers installed even after downloading them from the AMD site and installing Please help I really want to get into the Catalyst Control Center PS I have found out that pretty much all or atleast what I can find of the functions I m performing throughout my games run off of my Intel card because I have tried disabling that card in the Device Manager and trying to run the games leading to no avail nbsp
Hi, and welcome to TSG. Are you sure that your laptop has both video controllers in it? It may be that your g6t-220 had a purchase option to upgrade the motherboard from the Intel graphics controller to the Radeon part.
hello everyone, I am new so hope this is the correct forum... I have a new canon imageclass 4880 that worked with the bluetooth and then stopped. It said I had a new ip address, I put it in, it is now giving error message 255,0,0 and before that it said 155,0,0.
I am grateful for insite.
So it has bluetooth connectivity, corect? And thats how you are trying to connect it to the computer, via bluetooth? What said you had a new IP address?
I recently purchased a new PC from HP that came with an ATI Radeon 5570 installed. I don't like this card, and I have an older PC with a GeForce 7900 GT OC in it. Would it be possible to do a clean swap-out with these two cards? Do i need to download the GeForce drivers onto the PC first? I'm a newb and have never switched video cards out before so I don't really know where to begin. Any help would be appreciated.
First you need to uninstall the ATI drivers and software, then you can shut down the computer and replace the ATI Radeon 5570 with the GeForce 7900 GT. Turn on the computer once you have it back together and get into windows. From there go to NVIDIA Driver Downloads to download and install the right drivers for your OS. After that you should have to reboot the computer and then your done.
After putting in a second GPU -- which now covers 3 of my Sata ports -- I was forced to switch my drive order around. I was able to boot successfully with 2 of them, but oddly not 3. So I removed my System Reserve drive, setting C: to the active drive, figuring that would clear things up. Then plugged in my 3rd drive into that spot leaving just 2 drives, but windows still does not boot.
I checked boot order in BIOS, but I still get boot error. Windows will only boot when I remove the drive leaving only the OS drive.
I know a reinstall will solve my problems, but I need to avoid that at all costs.
Please forgive me if this is a repost. I tried searching put couldn't find any answers.
Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks in advance.

I have a Abit VT7 Mobo w/ 1 gig Corsair 3200 DDR, and a 3gig p4 prescott, along with a 9800 256mb pro.
The problem is that whenever I run any of the drivers from ATI I either get a problem were my screen will just go black or it will get all distorted and all kinds of weird colors and stuff.
On the ABIT forums there was this thread with someone with a similar problem http://forum.abit-usa.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=42052 I followed the directions but I was still having difficulties.
Also, when I put in my Geforce FX5200 into the computer the thing wouldn't even start, I would get the windows XP loading screen and crash.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
no one can help me . .. =(
i have a asrock g41c-vs mobo
im planning to buy a power color radeon HD 7770
it has a 3.0 pci bus support will it run on my mobo? that has a 1.1 pci?
I'm having trouble choosing which Mobo work best and bring out the best for the X1900XT Radeon.
I ordered this Mobo
but after reading some of those reviews, that card only work best for the Geforce 6600GT cards :l
Need a reply asap please, so i can cancel my order and get a compatible one for my video card.
Thinking of changing to this:
you are buying (or have already bought) one of the fastest and most expensive video cards available, but you're still running socket-754???
as long as you're still using socket-754, you'll never get top performance. I would suggest you buy a new CPU/mobo not just a new mobo. socket-939 prices have dropped significantly lately, now is a good time to buy
I need to send my 8600 GT back as there is a problem with the DIMM on the cards memory slots. I have an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro lying around and would like to know whether this would run when put into my MSI MS-7366 mobo.
Well, the 8600GT card will use the PCI-Express slot type.
If your 9800 Pro is also PCI-Express, then yes it will. You'll need to uninstall the Nvidia drivers, install the 9800 Pro, and then install the ATI drivers.
If the 9800 Pro uses the AGP slot type, then it won't work at all.
Here's a diagram showing the differences between the slot types:
Hello. I am currently working towards building my own new computer. I will be buying certain parts, but keeping a few as well. While I wish to purchase a new AMD 64-compatible motherboard, I want to keep my current ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 256MB video card and use it in my new system. However, I am having difficulty finding a motherboard that is both Athlon 64-compatible in addition to having an AGP compatibility. I've seen plenty of nice looking Athlon mobos, but they all seem to only have PCI slots and no AGP graphic slots that would be compatible with my current graphics card.
If anyone is able to locate a motherboard that would fit this description and link it here, it would be much appreciated. Thanks!
the Asrock duel sata2 would work, it will work with your 9800pro and then if you decide to upgrade to a pci express card, it can do that to

Hi I've encountered a problem in that my Acer desktop PC with windows Home Premium which I'm using as an HTPC i e or Home Entertainment PC crashes when I switch between the two HDMI inputs on my Toshiba quot LCD TV Note that when I switch to another non-HDMI input on the TV e g Antenna or a composite input and then switch back to when on TV monitor switching Crashes inputs PC HDMI the computer there's no problem What's changed is that I PC Crashes when switching HDMI inputs on TV monitor recently setup an Apple TV on the second HDMI input and whenever I switch to that input it will cause my PC i e on the other HDMI input of the TV to crash It seems that either the driver or the Windows OS doesn't like it when this happens I tried changing the resolution to match that being used by the ATV i e p at Hz but that didn't help Has anyone had a similar problem and if so how did you solve it Regards Charles
switching HDMI Problem is famous for Acer PC's. If you have updated your driver try to get the original driver, Acer | Download works but see if you have a driver setup disk you should have made one when you got your pc if you didn't do not do it now because you will just make a disk with the newer driver on it. If you have never updated your driver than go to Google and type in your graphics card name. for instance Intel HD 4000 Graphics and hit enter find a reputable site like www.brothersoft.com and get the newest driver if you download an older one the installer will tell you when you try to install it. It is ok to install an older driver sometimes newer drivers break things and we are forced to resort back. you should change your driver version though because you have found a bug that prevents you from doing what you need to do. if the driver thing doesn't work or you cant find the drivers i mentioned than try giving us more information like model of your PC ie.. Acer Aspire 5750Z-4885. With Acer it is important to include everything not just the first four #'s because Acer hardware changes over the last 4 as well. Also tell us what operating system you are suing ie.. Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 or 8 we need to know you should update your system specs on this website so that they are always visible whenever you post. and I recommend updating your chipset driver while your on http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers because chip-set drivers can also cause conflicts with your graphics hardwarehttp://www.sevenforums.com/hardware-devices/293874-pc-crashes-when-switching-hdmi-inputs-tv-monitor.html
Ok so I have laptops the one mentioned here Supervirus and a new one I HDD for flashes switching a on crashes BSOD startup then after second was trying to see if swapping the hard drives would fix it but it didn't So I swapped them back and when I tried to turn on the new working computer I keep getting a BSOD flash for a split second before it crashes the laptop I have many many important photos and school papers etc on it and I want to recover them ASAP But I can't even log into the laptop because it will show the loading windows BSOD flashes for a second then crashes on startup after switching HDD animation for a few BSOD flashes for a second then crashes on startup after switching HDD seconds freeze and do the BSOD then crash I have a computer that I can use to burn any cd's or flash drives or w e but I need to get those documents off the laptop When I tried to do system restore the first time didn't work and gave me an error code The second time it worked but when I tried to boot up the same thing happened Please help
swapping hard drives from one computer to another will 99% of the time never work. Drivers can cause all sorts of compatibility issue.
can you boot into safe mode? (hammering F8 normally works) you can at least rescue your pictures that way, or plug it directly into a pc using a sata cable and a serial psu cable (take them both from the dvd drive will be fine)
Hey guys, first post on this forum, bare with me. I have heard about people having the same problem as me - games crashing after around 5 mins of play, either rebooting completely or just crashing to desktop. Ive tried everything, except one which seems to fix a lot of problems, the AGP speed. I have an ATI 9100 IGP video card, and in options i see i have AGP 8x enabled, but i can change it to 4x somehow . I cant seem to find how to change this setting anywhere in the bios. Also i heard about "Smart Gart" with Ati's control panel, but the tab isnt there, and ive tryed reinstalling drivers and everything! I dont know whats going on, ive been tearing my hair out for weeks. If anyone can give me help on how to change to 4x, our guide me how to get some help, i would really appreciate it, thank you.
We have numerous users that are having problems with Outlook crashing when
switching between other user's calendars and their Inbox. Sometimes it takes
2-3 times switching between the two, other times it takes 10-15 times, but I
am able to duplicate. At first I thought that it might be Windows Desktop
Search or Copernic which are loaded on all machines. I also thought it may
be Office Communicator which is also installed on all of these machines.
After disabling Outlook indexing for Copernic and WDS, it still doesn't seem
to resolve the issue. All machines are running the following applications:
Trend Micro - Office Scan (Virus Protection)
Windows Desktop Search 3.01
Adobe Acrobat 8
When I look in the event viewer at the error message, I am seeing the
following error message:
Faulting application outlook.exe, version 12.0.6023.5000, stamp 46574050,

This seems 9800 Pro (Radeon nForce2 chipset during mobo) with 3D Rebooting application to be a common problem as I have read many other threads addressing the same issue I have tried all the suggestions from other posts but my problem persists I just built my new PC two weeks ago and everything seems to be running smoothly until I loaded the first game Far Cry The game installed without a glitch but soon after I start playing it the screen would black out for fraction of a second then turn blue for about ms and then the system reboots This happens Rebooting during 3D application (Radeon 9800 Pro with nForce2 chipset mobo) everytime I play Far Cry but Rebooting during 3D application (Radeon 9800 Pro with nForce2 chipset mobo) the rebooting occurs at different parts of the game but I never get too far It usually happens about to minutes into the game The rebooting also occurs with my D OpenGL screensaver Helios but never with any other program The browser FireFox never triggers the reboot and neither do Paint Shop Pro or any other D graphics program From what I ve read so far some people who had the problem found a resolution by updating the motherboard driver and the graphics card driver which I have done already Some people suspect it s a power issue but I have plenty of juice from my PSU Here is a complete spec list ASUS nForce A N X-E Deluxe motherboard Athlon XP Barton ATI Radeon Pro MB X AGP Antec PSU with W Kingston PC DDR MB x Seagate SATA HDD GB Windows XP Professional Edition with SP Resolution attempted so far All fans are working properly chassisx PSUx CPU graphics card CPU with thermal paste properly applied and without overclocking Motherboard drivers updated including nVidia nForce chipset driver for GART AGP card ATI Radeon driver updated to the latest I greatly appreciate any suggestions and ideas to try Thanks in advance nbsp
Did you plug a molex power connector in the 9800? I think there's a connector on the card.
Is the ATI driver official or overclocked one?
What's the cooling of the 9800?
Did you turn off fast-write and set the aperture to 128mb in BIOS?
I'm a little stuck, i've just bought a ati 9800xt and when i plug it into my K7N2G msi (ms6570) mobo it won't boot, i just get a blank screen. i've been through the bios & done everything i can think of & i can't find where to disable the nvidia geforce 2 onboard chip.
Anyone got any ideas?
Have you tried setting the Init Display First to AGP Slot in the Intergrated Peripherals section.
Hi guys I seem to have a small problem with my new graphics card It s Ati agp 9250 4x unstable Gigabyte Solved: card mobo on Radeon a Gigabyte Ati Radeon card I bought it from a friend of mine My motherboard is a MSI- which has an AGP x slot version But I bought this x graphics Solved: Gigabyte Ati Radeon 9250 card unstable on agp 4x mobo card anyway as I have read on the ATI site that it is backward compatible with AGP x So after installing the card into my pc and installing the catalyst drivers for it on my WinXP everything seemed fine Though I noticed that my system takes longer to load when starting windows But that resolved after a couple of reboots Now everything is fine I tested the card by playing NFS underground and it worked perfect very fast and cool used to have a Geforce MX card So gaming works with no glitches at all My problem is when I use windows normally like watching a movie or working with Office My monitor suddenly turns black and returns again to its normal state After that VPU of the catalyst center tells me that it had to reset my graphics card as it stopped responding Ok fine I told myself I can live with that But now sometimes my monitor not just blanks but my system restarts by its own That only happens when I use windows for common task movies web browsing and so on During games nothing of this happens It s kind of an annoying problem as I am always afraid that my pc will restart at any time and I lose data I am currently working on in Office for example Does anyone have a solution for this problem Or do I have to use my old Geforce MX card again - Thank you in advance nbsp

PSU made by Who? Looks like junk!
I would get a good Antec, Thermaltake, OCZ, or Corsair of about the same wattage.
just wondering. i can't find too much info on the mobo online, esp. the type of AGP slot it has (esp if its the 3.3v which would mean my radeon won't fit) as well as the FSB speed etc being compatible with my athlon xp 2400+. any info would be appreciated, thanks
I doubt it will support a 2400+
There is not much info on the asus site however I did look through the bios updates and the last one says it is to support the 2100+ cpu. No updates after that.

Hello and welcome to Techspot.
What exactly is happening when your computer crashes?
As much info as possible will help us to help you.
Have you tried turning off fastwrites in bios?

I have a Dell Optiplex 780 running win 10 64-bit.
I have installed a ASUS Radeon HD 5450 EAH5450 64bit 1GB DDR3 PCI-E VGA DVI HDMI Graphics Card, which someone on a Dell forum told me would run just fine on that PC.
It runs but the driver crashes all the time, sometimes every minute. I have downloaded the, presumably, latest driver (Nov. 2015 dated) but it does make no difference. Can someone help to get rid of those crashes?
Hey there everyone on TechSpot...
Recently I upgraded from a Geforce 6800 GS to an ATI Radeon HD3850 (both AGP)
After having carefully followed all the steps required to install a new graphics card
(i.e. deleting of old drivers, installing the new ones etc.) I still get an error. In particular this one: STOP 0x000000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER
I even contacted the manufacturer of the card (Sapphire) but they weren't of much help, giving me a constant list to do things that I had already done.
I uploaded the latest 2 minidumps that were created from the crashes to (possibly) help solve the issue. (edit) I also uploaded my dxdiag, in case my other system specs are gonna be requested.
Hope you guys can help me,
The AGP standard is getting old. How old is this PC?
Have a strange problem that I just can t seem to resolve Sporadically and without warning my video card will instantly shutoff the display and throttle the fan to its screaming max Although I can t see what s going on Windows is still active and does not report a driver error or crash Overheating is not an issue the case is very well ventilated and according to numerous monitoring applications the card is well within its normal operating mode Sometimes a single reboot returns the card to a normal state however sometimes it requires several hard boots to get it back working The card is a month old Sapphire Radeon HD and it is not overclocked nothing is The problem started after I installed SSD drives in RAID and performed a clean install of Windows Bit Home Premium Prior to that the card has worked flawlessly when the PC was in a non RAID setup with only regular HDD I originally installed 6850 sporadic crashes Radeon the latest Catalyst preview drivers but thinking it might be a driver problem I uninstalled them performed a clean sweep to remove anything left over and then installed version no difference The card is not being over driven for this has happened when the computer is idle not running anything except normal services I ve even ran the FurMark stability test for an hour with no problems at all although the card crashed approx hours later when the computer was idle During Radeon 6850 sporadic crashes the FurMark test the highest temperature the card reached was degrees celcius well within its range Windows does not report any driver issues or conflicts within Device Manger The latest Motherboard drivers have been installed and I ve been Radeon 6850 sporadic crashes running with the most up-to-date BIOS And the CMOS has been cleared several times System specs AMD Phenom II X not OC Asus M A TD EVO latest BIOS GB Mushkin DDR occupying all RAM slots Corsair watt PSU Sapphire HD Vid card Cat driver BIOS Corsair F SSD in Raid prime WD Green TB HDD backup Any advice would be much appreciated Thanks
See if you get same problem with a Linux Live CD: Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Fedora .. You'll most likely need to run 'proprietary drivers' app (not sure if Fedora has this) to get the drivers for your card.
If there is no problem in Linux, then it's a software/driver RAID 0 issue in W7 .. or if not it's a HW issue with the card and/or the RAID SSDs.

You are so out of luck! I do believe your card is dead. If it was a new card I'd try to return it. *EDIT I'd try the old 9200se in it's place first to make sure the motherboard isn't at fault, then I'd return it. /*EDIT
Im pretty sure this is a problem with the graphics card, Im running a Fijitsu Siemens Amilo pro v7010
Any game I play, even worms armageddon! just crashes at random points and there is no hard drive activity and the only thing i can go is restart it. Other than that the system is fine and never crashes while using other applications.
I recently got a XFX ATI Radeon HD graphics card for my Asus m a -M motherboard and I ve had this one incredibly frustrating problem with it It seems every time I install the driver either from the CD or from the ATI website crashes Driver Radeon 5670 it becomes incredibly unstable with the screen freezing then flickering then telling me the display driver crashed and failed to restart What was more frustrating is that it was very common sometimes happening just from logging in I couldn t go into the control panel and uninstall my ATI drivers without it crashing and safe mode wouldn t let me delete it manually What I did to rectify the situation was put in an old card and uninstall everything that Radeon 5670 Driver crashes way When i put the new card in everything worked fine much to my surprise then recently I tried installing the latest driver and the problem happened again My question is does this mean there s a software conflict somewhere or is it a bad defective GPU I had a problem with a wireless internet adapter causing my computer to crash only when I installed the driver for it because it was defective so I can t help but thinking it s the same problem here It should be noted that the computer will still always crash if i try to take it out of sleep mode I m using an Allied brand w PSU I don t think power is the issue but I can never be too sure nbsp

I have not been able to remedy this as yet!!
Just gonna format the system another time and install default drivers from fresh! Then I will send the damn thing back!

My HP Compaq nx is over two years old I m pretty sure I ve overheated it freezes, crashes, MoBo? intermittent a intermittent crashes, freezes, MoBo? few times blocked intermittent crashes, freezes, MoBo? the vent by leaving it on cloth surfaces etc About months ago it started crashing occasionally under WinXP and would not reboot -- the power would come on but after a few seconds would die again or just remain suspended on a black screen after the BIOS loaded fine I reinstalled WinXP Pro and took the opportunity to set up a dual boot system with Ubuntu Both seemed to work fine Ubuntu needed a lot of tweaking and they ran ok Recently I installed some new RAM which checked out fine and cleaned out the fan -- this helped with system stability and heat IMMENSELY or so it seemed In the last few weeks the system has started to freeze up again In XP it would load up to the Windows XP splash screen with the blue boxes moving around but would freeze before the logo was fully lit This did not happen on every boot just sometimes In Ubuntu the most common cause of a freeze would be plugging in a network cable to the ethernet jack -- regardless of whether or not the cable s other end was connected to anything I got fed up with this inconsistency wiped the hard drive and installed Ubuntu only It showed the same freezing problems and in addition it would freeze sometimes during boot -- an endless loop of ohci fw-host transmit failures I discovered through trial and error that holding the power button on the case down for a few seconds but not the full required to shut down would break this endless loop and allow Ubuntu to continue loading I have since wiped the hard drive again reinstalled XP as the sole OS and tested both the Fujitsu hard drive no problems and the memory memtest ran for hours without finding anything wrong When checking out my system using the PCI program on the Universal Boot CD I noted the following unexpected output ROM PCI IRQ routing table checksum h ROM PCI IRQ routing table appears to be faulty I have no idea if this is relevant After installing all the HP patches I could find from their website I m now at a point where XP system doesn t seem to freeze very often However I tried running GParted from the Ubuntu Desktop CD and it froze while I was setting options I can still move the mouse but Ctl Alt F and Ctl Alt Bksp etc have no effect I still have one remaining problem In XP occasionally when I touch my keyboard after being away from the computer a static discharge occurs and the system immediately reboots This did not happen for the first two years I owned the laptop but now it is predictable and repeatable I fear I have a motherboard problem but I don t know where to start to diagnose this issue Any help would be greatly appreciated TI OHCI compliant IEE- FireWire Controller ATI Mobile Radeon X MB Intel FB ICH AC Audio Controller Inet Pro Wireless BG Broadcom BCM MA NeXtreme Gigabit Ethernet Texas Instruments PCIxx x Cardbus Controller MoBo HP Model A C KBC Version Chipset PM GM GMS GML Host Bridge Cheers nbsp

Well I upgraded from gt and IB to X xtx and IB then X XtX and ECS i No problems with the gt and IB no problems with X XTX and IB then I went and installed a water cooler on my X XTX and my new mobo at the same time problems Boot into vista didnt work reinstalled vista severe problems install WindowsXP MCE seems stable EXCEPT I will be GPU Mobo and Crashes Resets, Random or just doing something and my screen will flash and say no signal detected then it Random Crashes and Resets, Mobo or GPU comes back on fine It did this in Vista and said in the lower right that display driver has stopped functioning and has recovered Also I will just be web browsing and it freezes Random Crashes and Resets, Mobo or GPU then I reboot and its fine Could this be a conflict between the nVidia mobo and ATI video card Or is my mobo messed up OR did some arctic silver run off the GPU and mess with those things around the core Unlikely OR could it be the fact I have no VRAM cooling Some is in the mail It is not overheating c idle c full load at mhz core E mhz x GB DDR - at DDR - ATI X XTX ECS i Also the mobo only does x PCI-e maybe thats it Tried with one memory stick no dice Underclocked VRAM no help im mad lol Tried stock CPU speed and stock RAM speed with loose timings It happened again got a single short beep whatever that is also I have minidumps nbsp
Both your minidumps crash at ati2dvag.dll, which is your video card driver. They both have a bugcheck of EA.
A device driver problem has caused the system to pause indefinitely (hang). Typically, this is caused by a display driver waiting for the video hardware to enter an idle state. This might indicate a hardware problem with the video adapter, or a faulty video driver.

Hi this is my first time posting on this site so I m not exactly sure what information you need so just tell me if you need more In September I got a SAPPHIRE ATI RADEON mb card for my birthday It worked perfectly fine until one day in January while I was playing Counter Strike Source The computer froze as in no audio and a frame from the game being burned into Sapphire ATI Crashes 9600 Random Radeon my eyes Thinking it Sapphire ATI Radeon 9600 Random Crashes was nothing just a glitch I restarted my computer and it worked fine Then weeks later it happened again Keep in mind this is happening randomly in the game not during loading screens or anything Then it happened again Then again The crashes were becoming more and more frequent Soon it was crashing even when I was just browsing the internet or even when I wasn Sapphire ATI Radeon 9600 Random Crashes t running any programs Within days it had begun freezing within seconds of loading the desktop after startup I had no choice but to wipe the harddrive and reinstall windows Someone had also convinced me that SP was the problem So it s been a month since I reinstalled Windows XP and it s started happening again It s currently freezing while surfing the web or when I m not running programs it doesn t seem to be picky Now when I turn my computer on it crashes within seconds of loading the desktop Please help me before I have to reinstall windows again Specs Windows XP Pro gb RAM ghz P processor SAPPHIRE ATI RADEON mb card I don t know specifics on the motherboard other than that it s an IC -G I have the latest drivers installed and I have increased voltage to the card The event viewer shows nothing after crash Thanks for your help nbsp
Im havin the same problem
I have also got a 9600 pro 128mb and i have had the exact same problem. It started randomly crashing but became more frequent. I have tried Ati tech support but i have not had a reply back from them. I have had to change my graphics card back to my 64mb geforce but this is not enough to alow me to play "matrix - online" and when i play cs-source it is very laggy. I have to sort this problem out seeing as it is costing me money (paying out per month for the matrix online)...i was just about to install windows pro but after reading your post i presume that it wont correct the problem. Im just wondering if u have found a solution yet? If not i will carry on searching for an answer to this problem....Aj

Which drivers are you using? For laptops you should only use the drivers from the laptop manufacturer not the ones from ATI.
I have been having Radeon to Have or underclock crashes core 4850 PC a problem with my for a while now When I play Crysis Have to underclock Radeon 4850 core or PC crashes Mass Effect or occasionally when I play Fallout or Oblivion I will get several types strange crashes unless I underclock the core to for Fallout and Oblivion or for Crysis and Mass Effect The crashes vary sometimes I just get a black screen but the sound continues and I can shut down my pc with the keyboard but others I just get a Have to underclock Radeon 4850 core or PC crashes black screen and the sound will stutter for a few seconds and it just Ether goes black or projects black or a color and a bunch of vertical lines that are usually green At first i thought it might be the drivers So I waited for and it did happen a lot less but i would still get crashes in Crysis and Mass Effect but the drivers made it a lot worse and lowered my frame rates so i went back to I had also tried cooling and fortunately I had an accelero s from my last card so I got some zalman copper heatsinks and put them on but it still crashed even with all temps below c I did find out that I can still overclock the memory without any instability I have been looking this problem up constantly for the past few months and even though other people had the same problems none seems to have found a solution other than underclocking Some of the people had replaced or sent the cards back to Have to underclock Radeon 4850 core or PC crashes the manufacturer but they continued to have the problem Though I someone suggested it was because of the motherboards only supporting pciex instead of but unfortunately I don t have the money to get a new motherboard to test that It also happens in furmark but not in dmark vantage My system specks are in my profile aside from the gpu clock which was before I had tried it in games Would overvolting the card help nbsp
have you turned the fan speed up on the card? also thats an xfx card just make them repair it or send ya a new one. i have a 4850 and play crysis and fallout no problems at 685 core so dont know why your having a propblem.
Does anyone know about this is there any fix or what's the deal I've done everything from using my HP support agent who uninstalled the HD radeon driver package which operates on catalyst amp hydravision Then did a reinstall It didn't stabilize things I've been reading up on the issue amp it seems to be a pandemic across the board with graphic Radeon HD intermittent drivers crashes AMD Radeon HD Radeon graphic drivers intermittent crashes graphics everything from the series to HD Radeon graphic drivers intermittent crashes the I do not know if HP tech support did a quot clean uninstall quot Apparently there's often residuals left behind through the performance of uninstalling the graphics drivers There's a quot clean uninstall quot utility on the AMD HD Radeon graphic drivers intermittent crashes site which operates on a DIY support system You do it yourself I don't want to go messing around with the forced uninstall utility as there are disclaimers about the risk associated amp HP tech support is purposed with resolving these types of things so long as computer is under warranty my system is only months old via remote host applet According to the literature I've read about this persistent problem with the random graphics driver crashes it seems to only occur after the driver update to the most recent version I can't find an option to quot roll back quot the driver so that it would go to the factory quot stock version quot the drivers which were installed when I got the computer I thought it was the best for peak performance to quot update quot when I received a system notification that the driver update was available but now it's causing me heartache I can be streaming video amp suddenly all computer functions will freeze I got black screen esc or ctrl alt delete fail to break through It's like things are profusely jammed up amp then if the system does unlock by itself can't even get command functions to perform to shut it down when the graphics drivers crash then I get a notification the graphics drivers have crashed Occasionally the quot hang up quot isn't so bad the drivers automatically recover notification appears that the graphics drivers have recovered but mostly I have to either do a cold shut down Or just sit amp wait after pressing esc twice amp hope that the system recovers I can't believe this is happening just because of a flawed graphics driver update that I now can't get rid of it's ruining my enjoyment of my new computer it's not like I'm financially loaded amp just abandon this system amp go get an HP pavilion with intel i processor amp their version of graphics The internet is full of info about this problem AMD has to be FULLY aware of it but according to some tech forums there is no quot fix quot to date So those who own systems that run the AMD radeon graphics just have to put up with it until AMD fixes the glitch Has anyone else gotten this consensus drawn this conclusion
Ohh...and I don't think this sort of techno-glitch is isolated to the AMD radeon graphics, though it seems to be prevalent amongst this brand...but I did catch quite a few search engine results whereby users of Intels i3 & it's graphics series were experiencing some driver crashes on new computers. So it seems to be a minor plague with the newer chipsets/technology...they're producing so quickly to update & push out the latest thing into stores, they haven't even worked out all the bugs with the previous 3 levels of processors & graphics drivers before the latest thing hits the market. It's exasperating.http://www.eightforums.com/graphic-cards/44760-hd-radeon-graphic-drivers-intermittent-crashes.html

Hi, after installing a new motherboard I now get BSOD and reboots every time the PC wakes from sleep mode. Error message: " The instruction at 0x5d4f872d references memory at 0x000000. The memory could not be read." Please see attached zip file also. Thanks.

So I got a new motherboard/processor and I got it all hooked up, and when i try loading windows I get a blue screen OCCASIONALLY before windows loads. It will show the loading screen on start up then do a half second blue screen then restart. If I take a break for an hour or two I can get into my computer.
When I started it up it detected hardware..A lot of it... And it kept asking me to search for it yada yada, and It wouldn't really search at all, then it asked me to restart and I started having the problems.
Help anybody? I'm running windows XP SP3.
You need to do a repair install. Or, if you can get into safe mode go into device manager and uninstall the old hardware. When the find hardware wizard pops up and it can't find the drivers, you need to use the drivers disc that came with your motherboard.
Hi I'm new BSOD HD after 5670 crashes updating/reinstalling Radeon to the forum and not quite sure how else to proceed with my BSOD issues I play WoW but only started playing again recently after a few years break I updated my Radeon HD driver and started getting black screens errors driver non-responsive restarting BSOD's etc I made some changes per posts articles that I read renamed a file uninstalled and reinstalled the driver downloaded suggested files like a JMicron package and Alien Autopsy etc and the problem persists When I play BSOD crashes after updating/reinstalling Radeon HD 5670 WoW my driver stops responding and restarts which leads to black screens and game restarts Although this only happens when I first log in then the game usually plays but with fps rates hovering around on average my fps never used to be so low In the last few days I've noticed a marked slowdown in fps and a weird screeching noise when there is talking in-game but it is not constant It comes and goes I'm also getting BSOD crashes Sometimes one or two in a day and sometimes I'll get lucky and it will skip a day This is now happening when I'm not playing the game and going about my usual business--emails social media GDocs etc There was one incident a week or two ago where my OS wouldn't even load I kept having to hard restart and it finally worked I can follow instructions pretty well but am not particularly tech savvy I'm hoping there is an easy fix like an earlier driver version or something similar Thank you for any input
Stress test your graphics card with Furmark
I recommend running it for around 30 minutes
Furmark will increase the temperature of your GPU rapidly so keep and eye on your temperatures
If that finds no problems then please try updating your graphics driver to the latest version.
Here's some instructions.
How-To Install AMD Catalyst? Drivers For A Windows? Based System
I also want you to run Furmark as it looks promising that your GPU is failing.
This is my situation I was using the Radeon until it overheated and suffered from Graphical Artifacting I then came into possession of a new variant of the exact same card the Radeon except with a fan instead of a heatsink Now my problem is crashes Radeon and 9550 ATI Card driver issues GFX that my computer crashes at a very bizarre pattern can crash once in hours after that times in minutes with this ATI Radeon 9550 GFX Card crashes and driver issues card installed After the crashes alot of the time I had to reinstall the drivers and after the crashes it would state that the drivers were the root of the problem I ve reinstalled many of my drivers including the Omega drivers for ATI Radeon 9550 GFX Card crashes and driver issues the card at www omegadrivers net and with that driver the card lasted for a very long time before freezing and crashing granted the installation did seem to hang for a bit so I had to cancel it however it said that the installation was complete when I did this I don t know the make or the specs of my mobo but the GFX card is AGP x Thank you so much if you can help me I really want to get back to my normal gaming life Thanks in advance John nbsp

Fresh install of 8.1 Preview on HP Core Duo with new MSI Radeon 6570 1GB card.
Driver bails on any/all/each browser used.
Got about 5 errors in 30 seconds - no BSOD's, just the quick blue artifacting, display freeze, windows error message "Display Driver has stopped responding and has successfully recovered".
Anyone know a sure fix for this? Should I adjust timing parameters in the Windows Registry?
I had this same issue on Win 7 Ultimate x64 except there about half the time BSOD's would occur.
Card passes OCCT with flying colors.
I THINK I may have a solution for this in case anyone comes across this searching.
the issue has to do with idle clock speed defaults of the graphics card. The problem is most common on non-stressing requests where the card is having to go from idle to some appropriate speed in a very brief time, controlled by a default setting in the windows registry [the latency for the display driver to respond]. TechNet posters suggested bumping up that value but what I'm trying instead is increasing the CoreClock and MemoryClock idle values. we shall see. This has been a problem since Windows 7 and once I got the search terminology right I found a plethora of posts on the topic
am testing now. after a day or two with no more errors I'll report back.
this is an old unsolved topichttp://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Video-Display-and-Touch/8460p-video-AMD-Win-8-0-x64-video-driv... but now I know what's going on. The problem always happens when the Elitebook has a secondary monitor connected either at the VGA or DisplayPort;when the PC comes back from sleep erraticlly crashes forcing the OS re-start (W10/W8.1/W8/W7, etc). The point is that when the PC is at sleep the signals between the secondary monitor and the PC erratically crash the PC.If before I send the PC to sleep I turn the secondary monitor off and I keep it off until the PC is later awake then the crash never happens again. The problem is surelly the driver that is not turning the second monitor lines off when sleeping. I have tried million drivers, and configurations; they all suffer of this problem. Best,Patrickhttp://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Video-Display-and-Touch/8470p-8460p-etc-AMD-Radeon-Erratic-crashes-when-comming-back/td-p/5724519
I am in desperation mode right now I have spent the last two days to figure out what has been wrong with my Graphics Card and I am just hoping I have not fried it or done irreversible damage A couple days ago the Catalyst Control Center was refusing to open for me so instead I began to use ATI Tray Tools At first everything was fine I even was able to Overclock it slightly I grew curious and let it bench my GPU Games 6800 AMD Extreme Every Graphical or Radeon Crashes glitches for a time Soon my screen was stuttering and windows were Not Responding quite often So I AMD Radeon 6800 Every Games Crashes or Extreme Graphical glitches chose to turn off some windows features in the control panel -- gt Program and Features -- gt Features options on the left side bar I turned off most save for those necessary and rebooted I then went to play a just downloaded game MLB k the graphic were a mess I included screen shots So to see if it was just the game I booted up another k game NBA k it gave me similar results I then tried Darksiders and War for Cybertron those both crashed on launch As well all the sudden my Windows Experience Index is a due to the Graphics test I have done a full reinstall of the drivers by going through the program files users files and registry to get rid of all hints of the old river I reinstalled and this did not fix the problem I had though it did make the CAtalyst Control Center work however none of the option in the Control Center seemed to ease this issue I really need help I have been contemplating a full Factory REset but if I do so and the issues will continue I would have simply wasted my time so I Want to find a solution that does not include completely wiping the system
Your best bet is to uninstall all drivers
if you don't have driver sweeper get it http://majorgeeks.com/Driver_Sweeper_d6171.html
after having driver sweeper installed go into safe mode uninstall all ATI drivers for the 6800 series
reboot as it ask you too then after reboot power down remove the card if you have dedicated graphics lets those run the graphics after that power down again
reseat the card power on then let it run then re install 12.6 from the AMD site
and maybe it will be working fine again
Hi, I'll get straight to it, My computer was running its stock WDDM 8.12 version of my driver but the latest is 10.2 so I downloaded it and as soon as I installed it my screen became all pixelated not with small but large boxes, and my cursor also became a box. The boxes we're flashing pink and red lights. I had to go back into safe mode to get it back to normal. What is going on? Its official driver for Windows 7.
P.S I have 3.00Ghz Computer 1.3GB RAM DDR2 And ATI Radeon 9550 but computer reads it as 9600 series.
The latest driver for your card is the v10.2 VISTA driver. Are you sure that was the one you downloaded? There is no actual Windows 7 driver for your card as AMD stopped supporting it with new drivers years ago.http://www.sevenforums.com/graphic-cards/245986-ati-radeon-9600series-crashes-i-install-catalyst-cc-latest-driv.html
The computer I am having the problem with is a HP Compaq dc5750 Small Form Factor PC running windows7 pro 32 bit OS. 4 gigabytes ram 750 gig hard drive. Dual core AMD 64 2.2giga hz processor. Error reporting indicates "degredation of memory" for the GPU in event viewer. Please any suggestions for a fix or should I just upgrade to another card? psu 300 wats. thanks
What drivers are you using for the card? Latest? Does the 1150 have true Vista / 7 drivers?
What exactly is crashing? The entire PC / OS? Or certain apps / games?

Hi and welcome.
I have a Gigae Byte silent HD 6770 and my temps are 47.5C, 47.5C and 51C at idle. Similar to yours. Download Download TechPowerUp GPU-Z v0.6.5 | techPowerUp and run it whilst gaming and set the options to log to a file and show maximum temperatures. This will show you if it is overheating. Do you have plenty of cooling in your case? I suspect you need to keep the VGA temps card below 80C maximum. Mine don't really go much over 77 to 77C.
Hope this helps Tony.

My friend recently built me a great computer. Only problem with it is that I can?t play War Craft 3 and Star Wars for more than 10 minutes ? the computer crashes and frezzes.
I have the 9500 Radeon Pro card, and the Asus P4P800-VM motherboard. To my knowledge I have the catalyst 3.6 installed, and the latest motherboard driver.
I found this thread here - http://www.techspot.com/vb/showthread/t-6108.html
, and installed the Intel chipset software utility, but that did not fix the problem.
Any help with this problem will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Get all the latest updates for your drivers and software. Also there is now Catalyst 3.7 now, and it may have a few bug fixes too.
Make sure you update the:
windows os (http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com)
Also, fool around with your video card settings.
Additionally, there may be BIOS settings that should be set/fixed properly.

Hi guy's just wondering if it's possible to get windows 7 to switch audio drivers when you switch to another user account.
For eg.. normal speakers device for my personal account and then have my multichannel device (profire 2626) set as default for my other user account 4 studio work.
Atm, if i change it on one account it changes on the other account which is annoying and i'd just like to set default device for each account so i don't have to do this.
I don't think this is really possible since the sound settings apply globally. I'm curious why you want to do this, though...http://www.sevenforums.com/drivers/191138-switching-drivers-when-switching-users.html

I just thought I could write on this forum to see if anyone could help me.
I have a Gigabyte motherboard (GA-7VM400AAM(F)) with an ATI videocard X850XT AGP and 1 GB of Kingston memory (2x512Mb). I also have an ATI All-in-wonder video card. What happens is that when I use either of the video cards, I cannot watch flash video on my computer such as on YouTube or others. It says that Explorer or Firefox must close and sometimes the system even crashes. I know I have an old rig, but still it should work. I have no idea of what is happening and I am suspecting a compatibility error between my motherboard and video cards.
I'm looking to buy a notebook, but the graphics technologies in the laptops has me confused. I can find good info on both, except which tech is the latest and greatest. So which one is newer or better?
Putting together a build for a friend however I believe the motherboard may have been damaged or was fans off Build, no New mobo, beeps fan psu cpu not Mobo light, case powers green damaged upon my taking part New Build, Mobo green light, psu powers case fans off mobo, not cpu fan no beeps in the build I assembled the parts a w thermaltake psu an asus mobo e intel processor western digital hard drive New Build, Mobo green light, psu powers case fans off mobo, not cpu fan no beeps gigs of GSkill ati hd gpu and an LG dvd drive Posted gave an error message about cpu fan error I google it it seemed to be relatively harmless While in the bios the computer s signal disappeared I attempted a reboot to no avail No error codes cpu fan stopped spinning Removed memory no error code removed no error code case fan connected to the motherboard spins when powered on motherboard shows green light no signal detected I tested the processor in another rig and it worked fine and the cpu fan spun fine Tested another power supply with said motherboard and the motherboard fan would not spin and it would not post and no error codes Is my motherboard dead Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks nbsp
check and recheck the connections on the board, if unsuccessful, make sure you haven t short-circuited the mobo, ...

Hello TechSpotians I have been thinking about gettin myself an upgrade for my PC You may have seen many of my threads and may have called me quick at changing my mind 6950 Radeon the 7xxx the series or for 2GB? get HD HD Wait Radeon looks at Leeky As the title states I would like to get myself a hd GB I have read something up on the future hd xxx series and articles Wait for the Radeon HD 7xxx series or get the HD Radeon 6950 2GB? said that they would have more processing power and etc I have heard that AMD might be releasing some of the hd xxx series Q and start mass manufacturing in Q But as AMD starts the production of the office cards first Wait for the Radeon HD 7xxx series or get the HD Radeon 6950 2GB? and then up to the high end cards it might take a while So my question is will it be worth the time to wait for the hd xxx series or just get Wait for the Radeon HD 7xxx series or get the HD Radeon 6950 2GB? the hd Thanks EDIT I don t think it is known if the xxx series will support CrossFire with the xxx series but I heard that you can CF a xxx series with a xxx series Is that true nbsp
i would get the 6950, thats a very powerful crd as of now with great driver support, even though the 7xxx series is coming out it usually takes like 2 -3 months for decent driver support and longer sometimes with crossfire support in games. as for the crossfire question, u can crossfire cards from the same generation so 5xxx series only crossfires with 5xxxseries and the same for 6xxx, my friend has a 4870x2 and was starting to lag a bit in BC2 so i got him a 4890 and we put those in crossfire, works much better. But yeah i would get the 6950 now and like u said the nice 7xxx series prob won;t be out til after CES in early 2012
My wife's computer with Windows 10 recently prompted a download of AMD's Radeon Crimson. Ever since the download was performed there have been more prompts for both Radeon Raptr (which seems to have been included with the Crimson) and Gaming Evolved, also a prompt to update Radeon Crimson. lately the prompts occur for Raptr several times throughout a day. We originally thought the AMD Crimson was an updated version for the AMD GPU on the computer. Neither my wife or myself play any online games and or not inclined to do so.My question then concerning this software is--is the Crimson an updated version that enhances the overall GPU performance of the computer, or is it meant strictly for gaming performance? If the Crimson is not improving performance for the computer's graphics sans games, how do I remove and delete the software for it and the Raptr?Any advice or information concerning this software is apprecated. Thanks, jusmeyall
Wow, 159 views and no replies. I guess I am not the only one who is clueless about this topic. Seriously, surely someone knows whether AMD Crimson adds performance to the CPU for overall performance or if it is strictly for games--anyone?http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php/topic,155660.0.html
ok well here's the problem ive been trying to max out battlefield at ultra high setting with my comp GPU Dual Ati Radeon 's CPU Intel i overclocked to ghz PSU W OP window Ram gb 1 4gb? my to 5970's Radeon sell i Ati Dual Radeon Should Ati get 6990 mhz but i im getting extreme lagg my Should i sell my Dual Ati Radeon 5970's to get 1 Ati Radeon 6990 4gb? FPS will randomly drop from - FPS to and even tho my FPS is showing me that its at FPS my gameplay will still be choppy People are maxing out battlefield with a ghz processor and a graphic card well thats what i saw on youtube I cant play the Fault line mission gametrailer of BF on campagin mode at max graphics becuase my pc will just spazz out and ive been recently been getitng this error where a blue screen would pop up and say to prevent internal hardware damage window is shutting down blah blah blah and it automatically restarts my pc SmarteyBall has suggested to get rid of the becuase these cards are apparently known to cause problem at crossfire mode and told me im better off with gpu Im not really a computer expert i dont really benchmark or any of that stuff i just like playing my games at ultra high graphics with no lagg So should i sell both of my 's to buy a Ati radeon
You would be taking a step backwards as your 2 5970's are faster than the 6990. Also you would be trading 2 cards in Crossfire for a single card with 2 GPU's on it that also runs Crossfire.
As far as performance in the game, are you using the 11.10 Preview 3,
Latest AMD Catalyst Video Driver for Windows 7
with the latest 11.9 CAP 4,
Hello, I am new to downloading demos but today I downloaded Call of duty. when I tried to open the game I recieved this message: Could not load OpenGL. Make sure that you have the latest drivers for your video card from the manufacturers web site.
I looked up ATI web site and found this : Catalyst Window XP 5.1 driver. Can anyone tell me if this driver will help load OpenGL as I am completely lost with this kind of thing. Thanks tulla
I formatted a technika 2GB, that i bought from tesco, from FAT to NTSF and then copied 201 songs onto it. Each time that i switch it on, display shows ' Media Entertainment' then turns off.It does not play the music. Can anyone help please?
Instead of NTFS try formatting it to FAT32.
I have a MSI k7 pro via kt 266a mobo with an athlon xp1600, served me well, however time has moved on.
1/ MSIs website states the max cpu my mobo can take is xp2100 (upgradeing cpu would be cheapest option). Does anyone know any different?
2/ There are some good "bargains" in mobos, as low as 80 bucks Australian, able to take an AMD 64 3200 , based on SIs chipsets. Of the chipsets available, eg, Sis , Via , nforce, are folk noticing any "real world" difference between them.
I occasionally edit and render video-rendering times not a key consideration and occasionally play Lomac and Il2 flight sims. Thats it. Apart from surf the net.
Your input appreciated. Thanks
i just bought an ecs N2U400-A MB, i already had a couple xtra processors so i didnt need to get the combo, but if I had got the combo, i beleive it came with an athlon xp 2400+ for around $100 american. so far i am very happy with the quality and performance of this new board. BTW, it is an nFORCE2 board

Does ATI cards conflict with this mobo?
ASUS A8V DELUXE Socket 939 VIA K8T800 Pro ATX AMD Motherboard
I heard there would be 'cause the mobo is a VIA. Is that true?
Should the mobo conflict with any of these below and forgive me for the video in a CPUs, Chipsets and Mobos board,
SAPPHIRE Radeon 9550 256MB 128-bit DDR AGP 4X/8X Video Card and or
ATI All-In-Wonder Radeon X800XT 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 VIVO AGP 4X/8X
Have you asked ati yet? Read what the mobo manufacturer has to say about it?
I NEED HELP DECIDING! ( again ) which one should i get for my new computer, i have effeicient power supply and processor for both, a Dual 1 GB GDDR5 ATI Radeon HD 5870, or a single 2GB GDDR5 ATI Readon HD 5970? help me decide!

Ive read and seen benchmarks and overclocking of both, and apprently the 5970 will outperform the latter.
You could ask on overclocker.net
They spend all day answering questions about GPU's
Ok - I have a dell 4550 3.05 p4 533
2048 meg ram recognized by bios (dell ao8 - last issued)
ST 250.06 GBHD
GeForce 7600GS 512MB 128-bit GDDR2 AGP 4X/8X
Creative SB X-Fi (though I use external DAC and headphone amp except for games)
Of course any rational person would use their money for buying or building a new pc.
Nonetheless, I am trying to figure out whether I could achieve noticeable improvements in graphics by installing a Silencer Dell 500w power supply, more cooling, and either
A) SAPPHIRE 100238L Radeon HD 3650 512MB 128-bit GDDR2 AGP 4X/8X
B) SAPPHIRE 100228L Radeon HD 3850 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 AGP 4X/8X
I have no idea what is the difference between GDDR2 and GDDR3 and whether it matters to me.
i'm looking to upgrade my graphics card, i currently have a pretty poor Radeon HD2400, and have found the following 3 which seem good, and are in my price range:
i dont know too much about them but it seems to be between the HD 5770 vapor-x and the HD 5830.
can anyone suggest which is best to go for, for gaming. and why if possible?
thanks a lot!
So i recently upgraded from the Radeon 6670 to the Radeon 5770 and I haven't noticed much of a huge graphics increase and i was just wondering why this might be, defective graphics card not enough power from my power supply bottlenecking at the processor. Figured i'de make a post here so some one could help me figure it out.
My power supply is 520 watts
My processor is the AMD Athlon II 2 x4 635 processor 4 cpu's 2.9 ggz\
I'm sure more info is needed to help figure out whats wrong, but i will need to know how to get that info and what info is needed.
Oh and examples of this problem are, in World of Warcraft i am essentially getting the same FPS with the same graphics settings even though the game now recommends i should play on Ultra.
There shouldn't be much of an improvement as the cards benchmarks are fairly close.
check tomshardware gpu charts.
My girlfriend just recently got a new desktop with 256Mb ATi graphics (Radeon 9250). I've just installed the latest catalyst drivers (5.5) and it gets a 3DMark2001 benchmark score of 6906. However on my 2 year old laptop with a 64Mb Mobility Radeon 9000 card I score 7165 (with the same driver)! What's going on? Processer speeds and RAM on both systems are similar - P4 2.8 laptop vs AMD Athlon 64 3000+. I have noticed in the device manager, on the on the new desktop, the graphics card is down as CP Technologies Inc Radeon 9250 GameFX. There's also the a secondary there. Could this have something to do with it? -Or do I just have a very feisty laptop?
Asus mother board. Radeon HD6450 pcie x16 card and HD Radeon 5450 pcie x1 card. I want to run 2 monitors on each card. Installed both and the HD4650 installs the software and drivers. Install second and at first got BSOD. It installed but shows as video controller (VGA compatible).
I go into the AMD Vision Engine Control and the two monitors on the HD 6450 show up and the monitors come on and work. It shows the other two monitors, but I cant tell how to turn them on. I use the "extend" option and the working screens flicker, but nothing out of the other two. The show up on the software but I cant activate them. I would greatly appreciate any help you can offer, it's about to drive me mad. Thanks
I just wanted to let the room know that I uninstalled and reinstalled the Radeon HD5450 and it seemed to identify it. All 4 monitors are working fine but my NIC card quit working..still working on that one.http://www.sevenforums.com/graphic-cards/201445-new-system-w-radeon-hd-6450-radeon-hd-5450-need-help.html
Recently i have been looking for a new card and i am looking at
Newegg.com - MSI R4890 CYCLONE Radeon HD 4890 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards
Newegg.com - HIS H577FN1GD Radeon HD 5770 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards
and i am wondering which is better for games such as AION with playing with over 100 people in an army lagging my 8800gt and other High tech games that takes allot of performance.

of you want to spend $200, don't get the hd4890, as it isn't one of the newest cards that have all the features of today, such as dx11 and tessellation and eyefinity. take a look at other products from the 5000 series from ati, such as this which is a bit better than a 5770. Newegg.com - SAPPHIRE 100282SR Radeon HD 5850 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card w/ATI Eyefinity - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards --bit of a long shot on price but you won't need an upgrade for a couple of years.
Hi all, (sorry for bad english):
I bought a new graphics card (PCI-Express) to replace the old one that came with my computer:
the old one is the ATI Radeon X1650, with 512 MB DDR2 memory;
the new one is the ATI Radeon HD 5670, with 1 GB GDDR5 memory.
I run Windows 7 Professional on an Intel Core 2 Duo CPU (E6300 dual-core Conroe, 1.86 Ghz, 2 Mb L2) and i have 2 GB RAM DDR2.
I usually use my computer to play games like Unreal Tournament 3, Command And Conquer 4 or to run PS2/Wii emulators, at a resolution of 1600x900.
Will this graphic card improve my gaming experience? For example in Unreal Tournament 3 with ALL graphics options turned on i get 18 FPS (bad! ), and to get 60 FPS i must play it at a resolution of 800x600... will this change?
Also will my WEI score change? i get a score of 4,7 for Windows Aero performance and a score of 4,1 for game performance...
theres about 2 years difference between the 2 cards so by that alone would indicate improved performance as they are both on similar levels within there range. i cant find too much details about the x1650, ati's site doesnt offer much any more.
whats your budget? and we can work from there
Just curious about AMDTI's current naming system, both ranges overlap eachother in that an X700 is comparable to an X1600 so they obviously must have a unique difference. I heard it was that X1xxx boards have H.264 HD technology or something similar, but my new X850 is stated as supporting all current High Definition standards so I'm missing something.
I am trying to put together a Server running for my home I have a two computers running socket MOBOS and CPUs I have enough pieces to put together another computer CPU RAM Mobo Graphic card Besides this old gear I have a special server case and RAID card I tried to get the computer set up a while back and got errors from the MOBO I made a half attempt to work it out but do newer 939 Mobo Socket purchase a Mobo or not have the time or patience I figured I would just buy another inexpensive mobo and get it going Based on the prices I am seeing for this mobo Socket 939 Mobo or purchase a newer Mobo it has turned into a collectors item and worth more now than when they were cutting edge Should I just suck it up and pay for a Socket 939 Mobo or purchase a newer Mobo old MOBO or should I upgrade my home theater PC to a newer MOBO with new Ram and CPU then take that mobo for the Server That computer runs fine now with a CPU but a newer socket would allow me options for the future without paying a premium for old school technology If you suggest a newer MOBO I would appreciate suggestions on which MOBO and CPU for a Micro ATX case good for a HTPC BTW I am on the road more than at Socket 939 Mobo or purchase a newer Mobo home so most of my work is done on a newer laptop nbsp
You can do mobo/ 2GB RAM and a X2 AM2 for around $150, I would go that route.
Howdy I m at my PSU/Mobo spin New fans won't LED green, Mobo wits end here and I was hoping one New Mobo LED green, PSU/Mobo fans won't spin of you could point me in the direction of something else to try Working on friend s ish eMachine ick because his motherboard chipset heatsink fell off New Mobo LED green, PSU/Mobo fans won't spin Used some thermal adhesive to stick the sucker back on but when i hit the power button nothing happens However the motherboard led is on So I pop in another working PSU that I had laying around with the same thing happening At this point I figure the motherboard got fried and ordered a no name gateway oem motherboard I throw it in and have the exact same issue I try shorting the power pins to see if it was my power switch and nada It might be that the processor was killed but wouldn t the psu fan start up in that case Or I ordered a dud motherboard with the same symptoms At this point I m just not sure what step to take to resolve the problem Any advice nbsp
Run the motherboard outside the case with just CPU and memory installed. See if it starts. If not, the CPU could be fried or you have a defective motherboard. I hope you didn't use the old power supply with the replacement motherboard, if you did, you probably fried the 2nd motherboard
I'm upgrading a computer and I'm having difficulties with loading. I am replacing just the mother board, processor chip, and the ram chip. I am re-using the hard drives, cd/dvd drives, and everything else.
I've upgraded from:
an AMD chip to a P4 3.0e w/ HT
an unknown AMD mobo to a DFI PS85-BL ver B1 mobo
I will be using 512 mb ddr 400 pc3200 kingston ram
I already called DFI and they said that I need to unistall the system drivers. Of course, I tried uninstalling all device drivers and then shut down and rebuilt computer. When I booted, the computer asked for safe mode or boot normally. No matter what I select, it automatically reboots.
Any ideas, instructions, or definite fixes?

Here is my mobo, will be here Thursday.
I want a Phenom II soon. I then started (after I purchased the motherboard first) got interested in getting an X3 and trying to see about unlocking the 4th core.
I have searched around and can find little information about anything other than Biostar and 790 chipsets unlocking the core.
If anyone has information that could help, it would be greatly appreciated.
Oh and if anyone here has this motherboard, how do you like it?
The motherboard looks pretty good... I am an Intel man though

I just picked up the xfx radeon 5450 1gb 64bit ddr3 card for a new build but realized i have an ati radeon 4650 512mb 128bit ddr2 from the old build that i could probably still use.
which of the two cards is the better card?
im sure there are a few other differences but the main ones im seeing are the xfx is ddr3 and 1gb with 64bit and hdmi output while the 4650 is 512mb ddr2 with 128bit and no hdmi
does ddr2 or 3 matter? would i notice a difference between the two cards?
the computer's not for any heavy gaming - mostly watching videos and light editing work.
Unless you are doing something like gaming, which stresses the gpu, you aren't likely to notice any difference. The newer card has faster RAM because it has a faster processor. But card speed is irelevant for normal everyday PC use (ie: email, office apps, web browsing, watching videos, etc.).
