Preferred Solution: HELP PLEASE can't open itunes or 3dmark keeps closing

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I recently bought a new iPod Touch and after connecting it to my PC, iTunes continues to run after closing the program. I uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled with no change.

After I close iTunes, my PC runs slow. I checked Task Manager and iTunes .exe is still running and taking 99% of resources. I stop the process in Task Manager and everything runs fine...until I open iTunes and it's the same issue again and again.

Any suggestions?

A:iTunes continues to run after closing

How long does it stay in the Task Manager after you've closed it ? Was it doing something when you closed it ?

A:Itunes freezes when closing.

What antivirus do you use? Is it by any chance ESET NOD32?

iTunes has also been known to conflict with Bonjour in both Windows 7 and Vista. Scroll down to the bottom of the following article for instructions on how to temporarily turn off the service. Then try closing iTunes and see if it's closes properly.

Trying to help a friend who has Vista 32-bit. The past few weeks, whenever she shuts down Itunes, the computer crashes. Everything else in Itunes works.....it's only when she closes the application. Checked out some of the Apple support troubleshooting techniques, but nothing seems to work. BTW, when in safe mode, Itunes shuts down without a problem.

A:Solved: Itunes crashes Vista when closing

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling itunes? Make sure if you do this, that anything in Itunes that needs to be kept is backed up.

A:BSOD after closing iTunes error 0x0000007e

Easy enough your AVG is to blame.

I notice your AVG which is often at least a contributing cause of BSOD'S . Please remove and replace your AVG with Microsoft Security Essentials AT LEAST TO TEST

Yesterday I tried to open my Itunes and it gave me the following screen:

When I clicked on Check online for a solution and close the program this popped up in the bottom right corner:

I tried updating Itunes to the latest version and that didn't help.
This problem occurred out of nowhere. I didn't have my ipod plugged in or anything like that.
Hope someone can help! Thanks.

A:Data Execution Prevention closing Itunes

Welcome to the Vista Forums!

Can I assume you already have tried the typical troubleshooting steps like restarting your computer? And do you have any antivirus software installed?

I have a windows 7 msi laptop that until recently has had no issues.
The past several weeks however, Internet Explorer closes unexpectedly multiple times when I am online. Also, I cannot open PDF files and Adobe Reader will not reinstall. iTunes won't open, and pictures won't open when I double-click them.

No error messages have shown up...the programs simply just do not open. I have the latest version of iTunes, and I am unable to download any version of a PDF file reader, but I previously had Nuance.

I have NO CLUE what to do or how to begin trying to resolve this issue, and most of my work files are PDF so this is becoming a huge problem...please help.

A:Internet Explorer closes unexpectedly, Adobe Reader won't open, iTunes won't open....

Hello and welcome to TSF,
The first step would be to try a different browser and see if your online problems keeps happening. If you are a hardcore IE fan, see if there is an update for it. As far as your pictures and files are concerned, it might need a simple solution like Disk Defrag. Many people overlook this, but hey it works! You can also do a Disk Cleanup (also built into Windows) which clears some unnecessary junk.
Good Luck!

When I close IE, another window pops up and tries to send me to another site.....this site is listed below.
Being very careful, I have never allowed this site to open fully, so I don't know if it will or will not open.

I just recently went through a virus cleanup that I got by opening a link in MSN Messenger.

On start up, I would get the message about not finding logon.exe and managed to get that issue resolved thanks to this forum.

Now I would like to eliminate this redirection to the below site after closing any IE page.

I am about a 3, on a 1 to 10 scale of computer savvy so go easy on me please!!!

Running XP pro, IE 7.

A:Closing IE and another site trying to open

Hello and welcome please run these next. I feel we can fix this quickly. If you have Spybot installed temporarily disable it.Next run ATF:Note: On Vista, "Windows Temp" is disabled. To empty "Windows Temp" ATF-Cleaner must be "Run as an Administrator".Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune & save it to your desktop.Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.Under Main "Select Files to Delete" choose: Select All.Click the Empty Selected button. If you use Firefox browser click Firefox at the top and choose: Select AllClick the Empty Selected button.
If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt. If you use Opera browser click Opera at the top and choose: Select AllClick the Empty Selected button.
If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.Next run MBAM (MalwareBytes):NOTE: Before saving MBAM please rename it to zztoy.exe....now save it to your desktop. Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.alternate download link 2MBAM may "make changes to your registry" as part of its disinfection routine. If using other security programs that detect registry changes (ie Spybot's Teatimer), they may interfere or alert you. Temporarily disable such programs or permit them to allow the changes.Make sure you are connected to the Internet.Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application. When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings. When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:Update Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareLaunch Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareThen click Finish.MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan.If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue. If you encounter any problems while downloading the definition updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install. On the Scanner tab:Make sure the "Perform Quick Scan" option is selected. Then click on the Scan button. If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button. The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient. When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.Back at the main Scanner screen:Click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad. The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply. Be sure to post the complete log to include the top portion which shows MBAM's database version and your operating system.Exit MBAM when done.Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be asked to reboot your computer so MBAM can proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot normally (not into safe mode) will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware.

I am running vista ultimate x64. The 32bit version of IE7 is opening and closing instantly. The 64bit version appears to be working... So far I've tried resetting all browser settings removing all add ons.

I finally broke down and ran hijack this. Would someone take a look at my log? Just wanted to know before I post it.

Thanks in advance!

First off I am wondering if there is a possibility that this is a MySpace bug as opposed to an issue with IE as MySpace is the ONLY website I've been able to replicate this problem with But There seems to be an issue on my wife's Vista account where she can cause an infinite number of IE screens to open This happens when she tries to close IE while her MySpace page is being displayed I have played around with several variables here to try to narrow down the root cause as best I can Here is what I have determined - There must only be one tab If there are two or more tabs in IE the quot bug quot will not appear - This bug appears regardless of what MySpace profile is loaded tried with both my profile and hers - This bug appears ONLY on my wife's Vista account I have not been able to replicate the bug on either my own Vista account or the default Administrator account - The bug only appears when you close Internet Explorer while on MySpace If you navigate away from MySpace prior to closing no bug Initially I thought this could be a MySpace issue since it only happens while using MySpace However the fact that it happens only on my wife's Vista account tosses a monkeywrench into that theory If it was an IE issue I would think it would appear on sites other than just to Closing IE infinite causes windows open. MySpace - and I made a point of testing on sites with a variety of dynamic content to see Closing causes infinite IE windows to open. if that was a cause No luck Finally I ran the usual package of spyware malware scanners AdAware Spyblaster etc etc and came up relativley empty tracking cookies and that's about it Any situation in which you get the infinite opening windows bug error etc is always a bad thing imo but to only have it happen under what seems to be a perfect storm of conditions has got me puzzled Obviously there are a number of viable workarounds for this issue of course this also includes the traditional killing the iexplorer exe process from task manager However a problem is a problem and I would rather solve an issue than use a workaround especially if its indicitave of a bigger problem like malware etc Thanks in advance for any insight you could give -Eric

Recently, when I close out of a program there is quite a bit of delay in closing and it looks like one is pulling the blind down as it closes slowly. My CPU does not seem to be running high and I seem to have plenty of ram. I have run my ad-ware, spyware, and norton anti-virus and find no proelem. Any idea how to fix this? I have rebooted a bouple of times also.
Thanks for any help you can give.

I'm set up to run folder windows in a separate instance of Explorer for better stability. But now I'm having problems. When I close all the windows for the second instance of Explorer, the process frequently does not terminate. So then when I try to open another folder window, nothing happens. I have to quit Explorer manually to get it working again. This has happened several times now, and I'm getting tired of it. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I'm running XP MCE 2002 Edition, all the latest updates.

A:Explorer.exe hangs instead of closing, folders won't open.

Explorer uses up a lot of resources and your method may not be best suited if those, particularly memory, is in limited supply.

You might try doing a "system restore" to a date when there were no problems; these can be undone.

Most problems I've had with explorer disappear on a reboot.

But you can test in Safe Mode and also test using a "clean boot" method of troubleshooting.

CLEAN BOOT TROUBLESHOOTING technique

First, restart in Safe Mode if necessary -- (tap the f8 key promptly on startup and choose the Safe Mode option from the boot menu) or Normal mode

Then:

Run msconfig and select the "Services" tab. Check "Hide Microsoft Services" and then disable the rest. Also uncheck "load startup group" on the general page.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135 << written for Vista, but applies equally well to XP

Now restart and test the issue at hand

If no problems, run msconfig and recheck half the disabled items on the Services tab. Test again. If the problem recurs, UNcheck half the items you just checked to narrow down the culprit.

If the problem didn't occur, check the other half, so all the Services are enabled -- proceed to do this on the startup tab as well.

Get the idea? You want to isolate the problem to a specific startup if possible.

Note: if you already have items unchecked under msconfig > startups and are in “selective” startup mode – you should note what these are before beginning. They will need to be de-selected again.

I just had to reinstall Windows XP Home and all the updates on a new hard drive. I am running antivirus and spyware software. I am having an intermittant problem (every few minutes) when I try to close or minimize Internet Explorer windows or other open application windows. The mouse and keyboard freeze up. When I hit Ctrl-Alt-Del and click twice to close the Task Manager window everything frees up and I am then able to close the other offending window but it is annoying to constantly having to do this. I had this problem about a year ago and if I recall correctly, I found a download on one of the Internet computer forum sites that solved the problem. My chances of finding that again are probably slim to none. Has anyone experienced this particular problem and have a solution.

Thanks much.

Hello, all?

I use TeamViewer frequently to assist others, but too often when I click to close an open, maximized window on the remote PC, I inadvertently click the Close "X" of the open, maximized TeamViewer window...which closes the session and breaks the connection. (I know that care will prevent the problem...but the Close "X" icons of a maximized window inside another window are one directly below the other.)

Is there any Windows 7 option/add-on/util that can require me to do something extra?beyond just clicking the Close "X"?to close a specific open window on my PC? (E.g., set a window so that it requires Ctl+click to close.)

Have searched the forums and Web at large, w/o success. Thx in advance for any ideas.

A:Windows Explorer closing down whenever I open any files in My Document

Hi all,

I thought I would follow up with my findings and solution to my Windows Explorer nightmare as I am quite pleased with myself for persevering and fixing it. It was right under my nose all along but it was just knowing how to go about it.

Basically, "Event Viewer" gave me all the information I needed. In the event tree I clicked on "Windows" then "Applications" which gave a list of apps with either a blue info icon to the left of the information, an exclamation mark in red for error or a yellow exclamation mark for warning. There were plenty of red error icons which I hoped would be logs of Windows Explorer closing down, and sure enough they were. On following the "Failing Application Path" c:\program files\ASUSWSShellExt64.dll I found the highlighted shell extension, Which is basically Asus Web Storage. I promptly uninstalled the program and have had no crashes whatsoever, yee haaaaa!

Hope this helps someone else someday as it almost blew my brains out

Martin.

iTunes will not open reliably. Sometimes no problem. Icon is on desktop.

A:iTunes will not open

Welcome to TSF!

Quote:

Basically when I try to open iTunes, the loading cursor spins for a few seconds, then disappears, but iTunes doesn't show up.

Sound familiar?

I have come across many people who have had iTunes fail to start up.

Ok, from what I have seen in other posts the problem seems to be related to the Bonjour service which is the program mDNSResponder.exe

After you have tried to start iTunes, Right-click on the Taskbar -> select Start Task Manager -> Processes Tab -> select Show Processes from all users -> select mDNSResponder.exe in the list and then click End Process

iTunes should start, if it doesn't end the iTunes.exe process in the same way and try launching iTunes again.

If you do get iTunes to start then we can permanently solve the issue by disabling the Bonjour Service.

START -> type services.msc -> select Bonjour Service -> right-click, select Properties -> in the dropdown box for Startup Type select Disabled

Reventon

I've had an iPod nano for two years in december, and recently when I have gone to buy music or even just listen to the music already in my library, iTunes will not open. The message that comes up is: iTunes cannot run because it has detected a problem with your audio configuration. The only problem is, I'm not really good with my computer and I have no idea what the audio configuration is or how to fix it. I'm just pretty much confused about the message and frustrated that iTunes won't open and that I don't know how to fix it. I could really use some help. Thank you.

Hi all:

So, as of a few days ago, I've noticed my iTunes won't open. I uninstalled it, and then reinstalled. Ultimately, I'll double-click on it, or right-click and "open," but then nothing will happen. When I open my Task Manager, it shows that it's running, though. HOWEVER, if I press Control/Shift/Double-Click and open it in Safe Mode, it opens fine.

I just recently had some infection issues (beaten by you all here at BleepingComputer! Thanks!) and have new security, so not sure if that's the cause.

Wondering if anyone might know what's doing this, or why it's doing it. Thanks!

Hello davidgarfield,

I don't use iTunes these days but I think iTunes requires Quick Time to operate properly.
Do you have Quick Time installed?

I have bought new PC laptop and was trying install iTunes so that I can use my ipod shuffle. Before doing so, I was trying to organise some folders in My Documents. I changed the name of one of my folder 'My Music' into '01. My Music'. I then installed iTunes and a message came up when I try to open iTunes. "The folder iTunes cannot be found or created, and is required. The default location for this folder is inside the "My Music" folder." Realising that, I then changed the name back to My Music, however, instead of showing My Music, the folder showed up as 'Michael Wong's Music'. No matter what I do, I can't change it back to My Music. Then I uninstall iTunes and reinstall it, and the same message just showing up!!

Please! Could someone advise me what to do next??

A:Please help!! I can't open my iTunes!!

Try creating a new folder in My Documents and call it My Music.

Then right-click the new folder and select Properties.

Then select the Customise Tab.

In the "What Kind Of Folder Do You Want?" select "Music (best for audio files and playlists)".

You may be prompted to select whether you would like this to apply only to the parent folder or all of the subfolders contained within, if so, select 'yes'.

Move the original My Music folder, which has now been changed to "Michael Wong's Music", to the desktop and delete when you feel the problem has been solved and the folder is no longer needed (make sure any important files have been removed/relocated and the folder is empty, of course).

Try re-installing iTunes and hopefully the new My Music folder should be accepted.

The icon for the new My Music folder can be changed to the default icon which has the musical note coming out of the folder by:

Right-click the new folder you created, then select > Properties > Customise Tab > (in the folder icons section) Change Icon> (this opens up a new window full of icons for selection) scroll along until you see the icon for the music folder, and select it, then click OK.

Next, click Apply in the Folder Icons section, then click OK

I hope this helps.

A:Itunes won't open

Sounds like the settings have been changed, normally I believe this can happen if you have downloaded a particular download, e.g. another program similar to itunes or maybe a windows update. Unless you know what you have recently downloaded / installed / updated I would reccomend trying a system restore to a time previous before this problem was happening. To do that, goto "Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore". There may be another fix to this that I'm missing.. but that is what I would do anyway, normally undoes any setting changes and offers a solution to problems similar to that.

Hope it helps

It sounds like a registry issue. First off all, try re-installing Itunes. Don't Worry, You wont lose your music files. Either install it again from a Cd provided, or the Free download on the apple website.

This is important to me - I have an iPod touch and all the other software which allows you to sync music with it requires that you have a working version of iTunes installed I ve uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes to both of my hard drives several times since the start of this problem - to begin with it wouldn t save the library on closedown and this was obviously unacceptable as I was waiting over an hour will open not iTunes for all the files to be re-added on startup However whenever I run the file now it no longer opens the program - Task Manager shows the process running for around seconds before stopping I ve tried opening it in safe mode I ve tried creating a new library and I ve tried iTunes will not open triggering it to open by running an iTunes Store file I can t find an Apple Support article which helps I ve tried all the steps in the existing one for when iTunes won t start I can post images of what occurs - I should add that I ve had a couple of problems with my internal hard drive recently I still can t save bookmarks to Firefox but my external one seems to have been working fine nbsp

Hey, I have had this problem ever since I installed Itunes on my Vista. When I double click the icon It says that Itunes has stopped working.

Error: "Itunes has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
Then it tells me that Data Execution Prevention has prevented Itunes from starting.

This is iTunes 8.2.1 for Windows (64-bit) and I am running Windows Vista Ultimate 64 Bit - Service Pack 1.

I have tried uninstalling Itunes & Quicktime and deleting their folders that remain after uninstall, then reinstalling them, but the problem persists. I have also tried adding Itunes as an exception to DEP, but it says that "This program must be run with DEP," and doesn't let me do that.

Thank you in advance, I appreciate your help.

Does anyone know what would cause iTunes not to open? I did recently upgrade to a newer version, but since then I have unistalled it and reinstalled it to see if that would fix the problem, but it didn't. Have you tried uninstalling iTunes, then installing a freshly downloaded copy?
Is your system 32 bit or 64 bit (check by pressing the Windows key and the Pause/Break key at the same time). Make sure you download the appropriate version for your system.

Hello,

I know that this issue has been previously addressed, but noticed in the related threads, other users with similar problems were instructed to create a new thread.

iTunes was working peachy this morning. I moved, set up my computer at my new place, and haven't encountered any other difficulties in regards to connecting to the internet, opening other programs, etc., When I go to open iTunes, however, I get the swirly circle hang on a second while I'm thinking icon and then...nothing. There's no error message or anything.

I've tried ending the itunes processes in task manager, downloaded iTunes again and did the repair install and still nothing.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance, Tech Gods.

A:iTunes Won't Open

When you moved did you have to change providers? I'm not sure if Itunes recognizes you by IP address or not but it sounds like it isn't recognizing your computer. Will you share your computer specs? The info may help us solve your problem.

Hey, I couldn't find a specific place for my question so i've put it here as i'm running Windows 7.

Basically when I try to open iTunes, the loading cursor spins for a few seconds, then disappears, but iTunes doesn't show up.

I've been into the Task Manager and it shows iTunes.exe as a running process, so i'm not sure what to do to get it to work..

I've already tried restarting the laptop, ending the process and retrying, turning off my laptop security (recently got a new protection provider so I was unsure as to whether this would block it for some reason), restoring previous versions, trying to 'Open With' iTunes, and completely uninstalling and re-installing the program, but none of these have worked, so now i'm out of options!

If you need any more info, just ask :)

Cheers, Harry.

A:iTunes won't open

Hi Harry,

I have the same problem, i think it is something to do with the bonjour service, which is "mDNSResponder.exe"

In task manager i saw that it was taking up 50% of my cpu, and when I ended the process tree itunes opened pretty much instantly.

I havent plugged an ipod/iphone in yet so I dont know if it will affect those, and i have to terminate the mDNS exe process every time i start windows if I want itunes to open.

Someone said go to 'run' and type service.msc whice brings up a service list, I changed bonjour service to "delayed start" and will see shortly if it makes any difference.

hope this helps in some way!

Hello,

I have been using Windows 7 and iTunes for a long time. But a while ago on my old laptop it stopped opening. Now on my new PC the same thing happens.

I boot the PC and open iTunes, the mouse loading picture spins a few times and then stops. Nothing happens.

However, the process for iTunes appears in the list of active processes.

Also, sometimes it will open once perfectly, then once closed it won'y open again. AND occasionally it will open but not respond.

I've tried:Reinstalling
Restarting PC
Closing proccesses and starting again
Running as administrator

Currently RunningWindows 7 Home Premium 64bit
iTunes (current version) 64bit

PLEASE, I need iTunes to sync my iPad and iPhone so simply trying another program is not an option.

Thanks,
Caleb Watson

A:iTunes Will Not Open.

I suggest that you uninstall iTunes again. After that reboot the computer.

When the computer has started after rebooting, open the Registry Editor by typing Regedit in the Run Box (Windows+R). In the Registry Editor Window click on the Edit Menu and in the drop down list click find. In the Find Text Box type "iTunes" without the inverted commas and delete all the entries pertaining to iTunes one by one and close the Registry Editor when done.

Now reboot again and install iTunes and see if it works. Please report back your results.

Please note that Registry editing if not done correctly can cause severe problems so it is best to back up your Registry first before editing it.

Hi and welcome

First, Itunes 9.0.1 is giving us all grief. I have worked at least 6 broken installs.

If yu want to find exactly whats happening. go into event viewer (type event viewer in search), windows log, application tab. Look for app crash, app hang, that mention Itunes. You want to only look for errors (red "X" in left column) they will be there. let us know what they say and what the event ID is and the source code is.

This has been going on for months now. Several months ago I tried to update iTunes to whatever the latest version was. Ever since then I have been unable to use the program. When I click on the link I get the little hour glass for about a minute and then nothing. Hourglass goes away, nothing opens and I don't get an error message. The computer is a HP about 18 months old, I'm running XP. I've been googling the problem for months and have tried various ways to fix it but nothing works. I've uninstalled the program and manually deleted all the files and folders and then re installed it several times. Quicktime I also uninstalled and reinstalled and that seems to be working fine. Any thoughts? TIA..

Hi phishy25,One thing that I have heard is that when you reinstall QuickTime and iTunes you need to ensure that your iPod is not connected to your computer at the time of the reinstall.

A:My iTunes will not open!

Hi RichieHaik,

Let's try the following

Method 1:
Install Windows Installer Cleanup Utility and remove the programs related to ITunes, then try to install the latest version of iTunes and check if that helps. Windows Installer Clean up utility will help uninstalling a program completely.
Here is the link for Windows Installer Clean up Utility How do I uninstall Office 2003, Office 2007 or Office 2010 suites if I cannot uninstall it from Control Panel?

Method 2:
Disable the security software installed on your computer and then try opening, check if that helps. Make sure you enable the security software back.

Method 3:
If the above steps do not help to resolve the issue then you need contact Apple for the best support: http://discussions.apple.com/

Ever since someone plugged a new iPod Touch into our computer to sync it with iTunes, iTunes won't open. Whenever I click on it, I get an error message saying:

"The procedure entry point sqlite3_prepare_v2 could not be located in the dynamic link library SQLite3.dll."

How the heck can I fix this? I've tried repairing iTunes and Quicktime, but its not working...

I downloaded iTunes 9.1.1, ever since then i cannot open iTunes. I have discovered my problem; http://www.techsupportforum.com/f217...en-476076.html
I am missing iPodService.exe, iTunes.exe, iTuneshelper.exe
But it doesn't tell you how to actually resolve the problem! Also i have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes.
When i tried to reinstall it, it installs up to a certain point and says:" Progress: Stopped services" (or something beginning with "Stopped").Please help!

A:iTunes won't open!

Assuming that the re-install that failed halfway through didn't affect the program that was there, try these steps:

In other posts the problem seems to be related to the Bonjour service which is the program mDNSResponder.exe

I am also facing the same hinge problem and luckily now I saw this post. As everyone mentioned I was just closing and opening my laptop and the right side popped open suddenly yesterday.
The replies from dell were exactly same as for other people $159 for the repair and this is an accidental damage. I am surprised with so many posts over 1 year they have not done anything to rectify this problem
According to me they should retake all the laptops sold and should not release this model until this problem is fixed.
Please let me know if anyone else is successful in overcoming this issue.

Thanks

Hi,
Thank you for writing to us with your feedback .
There are no inherent issues with the systems. All the systems that are boxed go through a quality check .
From looking at the pictures posted and i have also checked with my product team this is clearly falls under accidental damage and not covered under basic warranty .

Laptop is now out of warranty but this seems to be manufacturing defect as this has been common complaint from so many people over a constant period of time.
Can someone please let me know what is the course of action?

I have tried to search for this problem and haven't found any other reference. I have tried virus, malware & spyware scans and seem to be clear of such. I am running Windows XP Home Edition, Version 2002, Service Pack 2. Laptop is Toshiba Satellite, Intel Pentium 1.50 MHz, 2.00 GB RAM. All of my programs seem to work and I have no problems with internet access or speed. It is very annoying and, if I am typing, I miss letters or spaces if the flashing of the command prompt window opens and closes. It never stay open long enough for me to read any text so I can't tell you what is going on. Just in the time I have been typing this, the event has happened 10-12 times. I would really appreciate any help. I have tried "System Restore" but get a "Failure to Restore" message for all of the restore points I have tried.

A:Black "command prompt" windows keep flashing open & closing immediately

Hello let's do this to stop the screen so you can read it and post the error.. Then do an MBAM scan and post a log.Click on Start, then right click on My Computer.Scroll and select Properties, then choose Advanced tab.Under Start up and Recovery click Settings. Under System Failure uncheck Automatic System Restart. Now when the BSOD occurs the screen will stop and you can write the complete error down to post.Next run MBAM:Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (v1.36) and save it to your desktop.alternate download link 1alternate download link 2If you have a previous version of MBAM, remove it via Add/Remove Programs and download a fresh copy.Make sure you are connected to the Internet.Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application. When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings. When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:Update Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareLaunch Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareThen click Finish.MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan.If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself.Press the OK button to close that box and continue. If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install. Alternatively, you can update through MBAM's interface from a clean computer, copy the definitions (rules.ref) located in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from that system to a usb stick or CD and then copy it to the infected machine. The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply and exit MBAM.Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you may be asked to reboot your computer so it can proceed with the disinfection process. Regardless if prompted to restart the computer or not, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot normally (not into safe mode) will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware. MBAM may "make changes to your registry" as part of its disinfection routine. If using other security programs that detect registry changes (ie Spybot's Teatimer), they may interfere or alert you after scanning with MBAM. Please temporarily disable such programs or permit them to allow the changes.

thinking of the last time it was working did you install any new sofware, hardware, or drivers, or even updates?

1)if it wasn't the lastest one you might as well download and install the lastest

have you tried running it on safe mode.

Hi, wasn't sure whether this was the right forum to put it in, but I really need some help with itunes.

Recently if I try and open itunes or quicktime it'll wait about 10 seconds before a pop up screen comes up saying "an error occurred while trying to open itunes, some of the stuff you had running may be lost if unsaved". It would then have two options underneath saying "Send" or "Don't Send". I can no longer access itunes because of this.

I've tried system restore, uninstall/install (but for some reason quicktime refuses to be removed from the computer but itunes will...), but nothing will work.

Does anyone would I could do to try and fix this?
Thanks

A:iTunes won't open on Windows

Registry cleaners cause problems, they do not fix anything. The best registry cleaners are benign - they do absolutely nothing useful. The worst of them will leave your system useless. You've apparently used one somewhere in between. I suggest you use system restore to return to a point before you used the product. Alternatively, you can see if the registry cleaner has an "undo" feature.

Welcome to TSF!

Basically when I try to open iTunes, the loading cursor spins for a few seconds, then disappears, but iTunes doesn't show up.

Sound familiar?

I have come across several people who have had iTunes fail to start up in the past few days, all with v.9

START -> Run -> type services.msc -> select Bonjour Service -> right-click, select Properties -> in the dropdown box for Startup Type select Disabled

A:iTunes will not open, getting very desperate..

I am also having this problem and cannot find a solution, I think it must be related to the library or some other persistent data that I cannot find.

Recently iTunes hung and I used task manager to kill it, after this it never starts. I tried uninstall / install, repair install repeatedly. I used CCleaner to check for registry corruption and even tried deleting all iTunes and apple references in the registry - none of this worked.

I reinstalled Windows 7 and all my programs, including iTunes. All was working fine until iTunes hung again (just after enabling Home Share) - now back to square one!

Prior to it hanging I had done a Windows System Image creation, which I restored and it still does not work. Hence the conclusion in the first sentence. Any help gratefully appreciated!

A:Can't open itunes (hijackthis log)

I'm also having problems doing certain things with my computer. Whether I'm trying to defrag my computer, install, uninstall, or even shut down my computer; it won't let me. It freezes while shutting down. I keep getting not responding messages. Nothing's working for me.
