Cookie problem..

Q: Cookie problem..

Hi there,

Ive recently had an issue with PC's on a domain here at work. They seem to be having cookie problems. Users cant log into email accounts and forums seem to log users out and people have to re-sign in alot.

All the browsers are set to accept cookies, i have checked this on PC's experiencing this problem.

So even though the PC's browsers are accepting cookies, websites dont seem to think they are.. any ideas??

thanks,
Alistair

Preferred Solution: Cookie problem..

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

hi, just info gathering here; anyone know about http cookie monter intrusion attacks. I have mozilla firefox-latest version 1-0-4, for awhile,.. but just recently my Norton's is detecting/halting quite a few 'http cookie monster' attack intrusion attempts while I browse with Firefox. It's determined to be a 'moderate' threat.... any input out there on this? [ps.I did some googling on this and went to Firefox site- just seeking members input here]

Hi and welcome. Please don't start another thread for the same problem.

Reply back to this post to bring it to the top again. A better place to have posted it would have been web and email, and I'll move it when I'm through closing this one.

My dad is trying to login to his internet banking account, but the site says
"we are unable to sign in to your account because your browser is not set to accept cookies. Please enable cookie by going into your browser's preferences"
So i went to Tools and click internet control and privacy to allow session cookie, first party cookie and third party cookie, and I closed IE6 and open it again to try to login, but i got the same message again. I try to uninstall ie6 and reinstall again, but that didn't work. I also tried firefox 0.8 and i get the same message

Can anyone help me????
thx

A:IE6 cookie problem

Do you use a firewall, you have to allow them there too. Also the cookies you need to allow are called session cookies.

Gentlemen,

My computer is proteced by -

Norton System Works 2005 Premier.
Ad-Aware SE Personal.
Spybot S & D.
Spyware Blaster.
Spyware Guard.
a2scan.
Kerio Personal Firewall.
MS Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool.
TDS-3.

The programmes are updated and used every day.

I also use CleanUp which shows a list of protected cookies. There is a cookie which is not shown in my Norton System Works list of protected cookies.

It is -

go.microsoft.com/serviceswirchung

I have been into Google via IE and Mozilla Firefox and neither search has recognised this cookie. There is no information about it.

Should I delete go.microsoft.com/serviceswirchung ?

oldsoldier

A:A cookie problem

When I searched for only the first part, go.microsoft.com, I was taken to this http://search.microsoft.com/search/search....st=b&View=en-us.Which is the search page for Microsoft. Have you visited it lately? I do not know what the last part (serviceswirchung) means. While on the MS search page, I searched for the text using a few variations. Came up empty.

Hi, I hope this is the right place to post this question.

I've just installed a new voip router alongside my broadband router and it all worked fine.

Sadly I can't log on to "My Ebay" page and a couple of other sites which I log into, I can access the home pages it's just the log in sections I can't access.

I've tried deleting my cookies in the Internet Options area, but I still can't log in, does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do next or what the problem might be?

any help would be really appreciated.

Many thanks in advance

Hi,

For the last few days my PC has been loosing the cookie for my ISPs homepage when re-starting or coming out of hibernation. This happens with both IE8 and Firefox. I have contacted Trend Micro support but so far none of their solutions have been effective. They have also analysed a Hijackthis log and concluded there was nothing sinister going on.

This only happens to the Optus (my ISP) cookie, but Optus are denying any problems.

I have originally posted in the XP Support forum, but one of your folks suggeted I post here.

Does anyone have any suggestions, please?

Rob.

A:Cookie Problem

Hello -

I hate to give you a runaround, but I have my doubts about a cookie issue like that being malware related. I would ask back in Windows section, or in Internet Explorer subforum.

That said, you would need to post logs as indicated in the link provided by Speedster if you want help in this section of the forum. We work from logs as well as issue description.

HijackThis is woefully inadequate for many of today's infections. We don't use it as our initial analysis tool.

We want all our members to perform the steps outlined in the link I'll give you below, before posting for assistance. There's a sticky at the top of this forum, and a
Quote:

Having problems with spyware and pop-ups? First Steps

link at the top of each page.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please follow our pre-posting process outlined here:

http://www.techsupportforum.com/f50/...lp-305963.html

After running through all the steps, you shall have a proper set of logs. Please post them in a new topic, as this one shall be closed. I currently have as many open topics as I can effectively handle; this will have you back in queue with the proper logs so an available helper would be able to assist.

If you have trouble with one of the steps, simply move on to the next one, and make note of it in your reply.

Please note that the Virus/Trojan/Spyware Help forum is extremely busy, and it may take a while to receive a reply.

I'm not sure what's going on with my computer, but my cookies will not save to my computer anymore. Everytime I shut off my computer, the disappear and that didn't usually happen until recently when I ran my Norton Antivirus, but it may be some other problem that I'm not sure of. I checked my internet options, but I'm just not sure what's the problem or what's wrong.

Can someone help me?

I had some help recently from bleeping regarding a problem getting into my hot mail account on live.com, whilst using my new vista with IE7.
Someone there told me to go into privacy in internet options and choose Medium on the slider - then to add the live.com to the Sites button, then go back into Advanced and select 'Overide Automatic Cookie Handling' and make sure First and Third party cookies are highlighted.
I did all that and it worked!
However following day it was the same. I do have Privacy Keeper installed which removes traces including cookies - would this be the problem. If this is disabled though, wont i be open to cookies?

Or is there another explanation?

A:Cookie Problem With Hot Mail

If another application removes cookies regularly, changing your browser settings to accept certain ones will not have the results you want. You may be able to "protect" certain cookies if Privacy Keeper has such an option.

hi
Several websites I visit daily are not saving my information.
I use Firefox 3 and Vista Premiun with SP1
This problem just recently, and I have uninstalled all recent downloaded programs, and cleaned the registry.
In the browser, it states that I will accept all cookies, and there are no exceptions checked
One of my regular sites emailed me that perhaps my cookies are being washed by some program that has a cookie washer in it
May I kindly ask how can I find this 'cookie washer'?
and, do you think that that may be the problem
thanks

You may have to turn the cookies security to OFF, Ive noticed trouble similar to what you've explained, and I just turned it off, (set to accept all cookies) then I just empty the temp folder after each session.

How do I modify my Vista settings so that it does not erase cookies that I wish to maintain? currently it is maintaining a few but removing some that I wish to maintain.

Hi, everybody. I've recently been working on a website that requires I have a certain cookie on the browser in order for me to go to one of it's important pages. I think I accidentally deleted this cookie, and I need to know what to do to get the cookie back on.

Thank you.

Does anyone have any suggestions, please?

Rob.

I am using NAV and I'm not able to remove some tracking cookies. When I select "fix", it shows me that the problems were fixed, but if I re-run NAV, they're still present. I have tried turning off system restore and running NAV, but the results are the same. The cookies are: atmdt, realmedia, questionmarket, doubleclick, and one un-named cookie. I realize that these probably aren't too much of a risk, but they're a nuisance and I would like to get them removed

Some of those can be associated by sideline ads on some sites. Let's do this...Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune & save it to your desktop. alternate download link DO NOT use yet. Please download and install SUPERAntiSpyware FreeDouble-click SUPERAntiSypware.exe and use the default settings for installation. An icon will be created on your desktop. Double-click that icon to launch the program. If asked to update the program definitions, click "Yes". If not, update the
definitions before scanning by selecting "Check for Updates". (If you encounter
any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from
here and
unzip into the program's folder.)Under the "Configuration and Preferences", click the Preferences... button.Click the "General and Startup" tab, and under
Start-up Options, make sure "Start SUPERAntiSpyware when Windows starts" box is unchecked.Click the "Scanning Control" tab, and under Scanner
Options, make sure the following are checked (leave all others unchecked):Close browsers before scanning.Scan for tracking cookies.Terminate memory threats before quarantining.Click the "Close" button to leave the control center screen and exit the program.Do not run a scan just yet.Reboot your computer in "Safe Mode" using the F8 method. To do this, restart your computer and after hearing your computer beep once during startup (but before the Windows icon appears) press the F8 key repeatedly. A menu will appear with several options. Use the arrow keys to navigate and select the option to run Windows in "Safe Mode".Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.Under Main "Select Files to Delete" choose:
Select All.Click the Empty Selected button. If you use Firefox browser click Firefox at the top and choose: Select AllClick the Empty Selected button.
If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt. If you use Opera browser click Opera at the top and choose: Select AllClick the Empty Selected button.
If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.Note: On Vista, "Windows Temp" is disabled. To empty "Windows Temp" ATF-Cleaner must be "Run as an Administrator".Scan with SUPERAntiSpyware as follows:Launch the program and back on the main screen, under "Scan for Harmful Software" click Scan your computer. On the left, make sure you check C:\Fixed Drive. On the right, under "Complete Scan", choose Perform Complete Scan and click "Next".After the scan is complete, a Scan Summary box will appear with potentially harmful items that were detected. Click "OK".Make sure everything has a checkmark next to it and click "Next".A notification will appear that "Quarantine and Removal is Complete". Click "OK" and then click the "Finish" button to return to the main menu.If asked if you want to reboot, click "Yes" and reboot normally. To retrieve the removal information after reboot, launch SUPERAntispyware again.Click Preferences, then click the Statistics/Logs tab.Under Scanner Logs, double-click SUPERAntiSpyware Scan Log.If there are several logs, click the current dated log and press View log. A text file will open in your default text editor. Please copy and paste the Scan Log results in your next reply.Click Close to exit the program.

Hi, I attach my HJT log from today.

I would be grateful if I could get some help with this - though I did run active scan (please see attached) and that said it was a non-severe cookie problem only.

Many thanks

The cumulative security update for W7 (x64 pro) has been causing me real problems and I couldn't figure out what was happening at first.

All my cookie and login info after performing a browser cleanup isn't now remembered. I can for example enter my details for this site and as soon as I exit IE and log back in all cookie info is gone.

Normally I do a clean up and then import a cookie file with details of perhaps 20 sites on it. This doesn't now work.

Uninstall that update and all is back as it should be.

I have recovered to an Acronis image and currently have installed all updates minus this one.

Anyone else had this issue ?

A:Latest W7 IE9 update seems to cause cookie problem.

I update the same way on my another Windows 7 64bit system.
Everything works fine.
Check to find whether there is any option item been selected after the update.
It's not serious.

I have been on the vistaprint.com webpage many times and now all the sudden I am getting the error telling me that I need to enable cookies. My settings are accept 1st party, block 3rd party and allow session. I have restarted IE and rebooted the computer and I keep getting this! I did recently use Registry Easy to clean out as I have been having some sluggish issues and it totally disabled my CA Security Suite and am really hoping that it didn't mess up anything else. I have searched all over and cannot seem to find the problem.

Okay, now that ive got my find4u problem fixed, its time to fix the two other things...
1) My cookies...i can't set them so that well i dunno...but if i go somewhere that needs cookies, it always tells me to enable cookies...but ive tried like every setting and they just wont "enable" ive even emailed my internet provider a few times, with no luck....they even sent me a few patches, but they were for windows 98.....so no go there..does anyone know what i can do for this?

2) My favorites has some inapropriate links in it, for example "Free Hidden Cams World" "Free Spy Cam" "Free Web Cams Chats" "Get this 4 free" and "Hidden Cams World"
even if i delete them, they just come back...any one know what thats about? some sort of virus or something???

A:Cookie problem, and Favorites problem

Favorites button - click organise - highlight unwanted, then use delete button, this should stop them coming back..

Try Tools - Internet Options - Privacy tab - set cookies to medium setting.

My browser is Maxthon 2.5.18.1000 (runs off IE9's engine). My home page is my.yahoo (customized yahoo) and it is selected to open automatically when Maxthon is opened. For my.yahoo to open, I have to sign in with a username and a password. Until recently, my.yahoo would open automatically without my signing in. However, once I started fooling around with LastPass (a pw manager) and two other cookie eaters (CCleaner and Maxthon's Smart Cookie Cleaner), in order to get to my.yahoo, I now have to sign in. How do I get back to the state in which my.yahoo opens automatically without signing in?

If your browser uses IE's engine, perhaps an IE solution will work:

YAHOO IS REMAINING include problem admits cookie 2012 that post-hack Yahoo a might breach RELEVANT by Yahoo admits that 2012 breach might include a post-hack cookie problem continuing to release information about the hack on the company's systems in which has only recently come to light The hack was a big one and Yahoo has tackled it publically for some time We know more or less how many people were affected and we know that a lot of them used passwords that deserve a shovel to the back of the head Now thanks to a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission SEC we know that Yahoo is concerned that the hackers left some bad cookies that might still be a source of concern Forensic experts are currently investigating certain evidence and activity that indicates an intruder believed to be the same state-sponsored actor responsible for the security incident created cookies that could have enabled the intruder to bypass the need for a password to access certain users' accounts or account information the company said Article It was a pain but I finally dumped Yahoo mail and haven't looked back

Hi,

Can't get rid of the '64.111.196' cookie that keeps showing up on Xoftspy and Malwarebytes scans.

It is hijacking my google search almost always.
Any help?

A:64.111.196 cookie won't go away

Hiya

Are you still having this problem? If so, can you do the following:

Download TFC by OldTimer to your desktop

Please double-click TFC.exe to run it. (Note: If you are running on Vista, right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator).
It will close all programs when run, so make sure you have saved all your work before you begin.
Click the Start button to begin the process. Depending on how often you clean temp files, execution time should be anywhere from a few seconds to a minute or two. Let it run uninterrupted to completion.
Once it's finished it should reboot your machine. If it does not, please manually reboot the machine yourself to ensure a complete clean.

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here or Here

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.
Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediatly.

Download and scan with SUPERAntiSpyware Free for Home Users
Double-click SUPERAntiSpyware.exe and use the default settings for installation.
An icon will be created on your desktop. Double-click that icon to launch the program.
If asked to update the program definitions, click "Yes". If not, update the definitions before scanning by selecting "Check for Updates". (If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download and unzip them from here.)
Under "Configuration and Preferences", click the Preferences button.
Click the Scanning Control tab.
Under Scanner Options make sure the following are checked (leave all others unchecked):
Close browsers before scanning.
Scan for tracking cookies.
Terminate memory threats before quarantining.

Click the "Close" button to leave the control center screen.
Back on the main screen, under "Scan for Harmful Software" click Scan your computer.
On the left, make sure you check C:\Fixed Drive.
On the right, under "Complete Scan", choose Perform Complete Scan.
Click "Next" to start the scan. Please be patient while it scans your computer.
After the scan is complete, a Scan Summary box will appear with potentially harmful items that were detected. Click "OK".
Make sure everything has a checkmark next to it and click "Next".
A notification will appear that "Quarantine and Removal is Complete". Click "OK" and then click the "Finish" button to return to the main menu.
If asked if you want to reboot, click "Yes".
To retrieve the removal information after reboot, launch SUPERAntispyware again.
Click Preferences, then click the Statistics/Logs tab.
Under Scanner Logs, double-click SUPERAntiSpyware Scan Log.
If there are several logs, click the current dated log and press View log. A text file will open in your default text editor.
Please copy and paste the Scan Log results in your next reply.

Click Close to exit the program.

I was scanning my system with Bitdefender and I got 3 cookies detected as viruses. (Cookie.Rub, Cookie.Mediaplex, and Cookie.Advertising.) What is the deal with Cookie.Rub?

A:Cookie.Rub

Rub is a cookie.Cookies are small text files stored in the browser on the user's computer, when visiting web pages.Cookies store information that can be used for several purposes: to personalize web browsing, to gather demographic information about how many users visit a page, to monitor which banners are displayed to the user, etc. These uses are not, in theory at least, malicious. However, keep in mind that the misuse of cookies could threaten an individual's privacy. Rub prevents access from programs to websites of several companies related with security tools (antivirus programs, firewalls, etc.).Rub redirects attempts to access web pages of certain banks to spoofed pages, with the aim of logging information entered by the user in these pages.Rub redirects attempts to access several web pages to a specific IP address.See PANDA

A:bad cookie

Just to see if it's a browser related issue, try this:
Make sure Firefox is closed. Press Win+R, type firefox.exe -profilemanager and press enter. Make yourself a new profile and try the site.
Other passwords are still saved?
Make sure to post back.

Getting the cookie bar on this website again. This time I followed the link to a UK web site...https://ico.org.uk/for-organisations/guide-to-pecr/cookies-and-similar-technologies/. While the site does use a secure connection it is placing cookies on my machine and not notifying me of the fact, or asking my permission, LOL. While I do not allow third party or session cookies as a normal course of action I do normally allow first party cookies. Hypocrites, do as we say, not as we do. When I run certain executable files this alert will prompt. It seems to be generating different .txt files each time, which seems to indicate symptoms of a type of worm infection. I will submit an image of the encounter. I have ran full scans on the following, AVG, Malwarebytes' Anti-malware, CCLeaner. Any help in regards to this is topic will be greatly appreciated. Thanks,Seasick

A:Tracking Cookie?

Hello Seasick, these are cookies and not a worm.A cookie is a text string that is included with Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) requests and responses. Cookies are used to maintain state information as you navigate different pages on a Web site or return to the Web site at a later time. This article provides information about cookies.http://support.microsoft.com/kb/260971/?sd=RMVPWhy we remove them..In addition to the privacy issues, cookies carry security implications as well. Many sites use cookies to implement access control schemes of various sorts. For example, a subscription site that requires a user name and password might pass a cookie back to your browser the first time you log in. Thereafter, the site will give you access to restricted pages if your browser can produce a valid cookie, basically using the cookie as an admission ticket. This can have several advantages for the site, not the least of which is that it can avoid the overhead of looking up your user name and password in a database each and every time you access a page. However, unless this type of system is implemented carefully, it may be vulnerable to exploitation by unscrupulous third parties. For instance, an eavesdropper armed with a packet sniffer could simply intercept the cookie as it passes from your browser to the server, using it to obtain free access to the site. Because browsers use the domain name system (DNS) to determine what cookies belong to a server, it is possible to trick a browser into sending a cookie to a rogue server by temporarily subverting the DNS. If the cookie is persistent, of course, it is also vulnerable to being stolen from the user's cookie database file.http://www.w3.org/Security/Faq/wwwsf2.html#CLT-Q10

A:Just one last darn cookie!!

Hi jrobin,

Glaswegian had given you a list of downloads. This one will take care of that cookie for you along with many others:

I have a Dell Inspiron. Windows Vista. I have a tracking cookie that keeps coming back. I had Mcafee, it wouldn't find anything. Changed to Symantec. Found tracking cookie and trojans. It will find the cookie several times a day and delete it but it comes back. I also can't use search engines. I have to copy and paste when possible because I get rerouted if I click a link. How do I once and for all get rid of a tracking cookie?

A:Tracking cookie won't go away

A good Anti-Virus program that is Free to use and is highly recommended here is: Microsoft Security Essentials. http://www.microsoft.com/security/pc-security/mse.aspx

You will need to uninstall Symantec first if you decide to use MSE.

Also recommended:

http://www.superantispyware.com/?tag=SUPERANTISPYWARE (Free edition)

Be sure to Update each before running your scans.

A:Cookie Problems

Try clearing your cache, and your cookies.
Also go into your cookie cache, and make sure all cookies for studiVZ are gone:
Tools / Options / Privacy tab / Cookies / Exceptions... button

Once everything is cleared, re-start Firefox, and try to get on studiVZ, again.
Also, try adding studiVZ to your exceptions list.

I believe you just need to do (in firefox)  Menu, Options, Privacy, Show Cookies, Remove All.  Keep in mind that will probably log you out of any sites you normally use.

One of our Members, Jacee, posted in Seven Forums about this great software. It allows you to easily choose what cookes remain on your system. Spying has become very common. I send emails, about travel and trips and then get spam about Motels in that area. I suggest that everyone investigate the applicability of this software, for themselves, and then take the appropriate course of action.

Not all cookies are evil, and not all should be deleted on a regular basis. Many cookies contain sign-on passords, or are used by the site to maintain valid information about your position on the site.
You should be able to enable cookies on whatever browser you are using, but have the browser ask for permission before allowing a cookie. Your browser should also allow you to view all cookies and make individual decisions about which to keep and which to delete.

Is there a program out there (free) that will let you keep track of cookies, and maybe letting you know a little bit about them? Like where they came from, also a program to let you track all the hits that you get while on line from other computers?

A:cookie tracking?

I know that Adaware will allow you to keep track of cookies and if you right click on the cookie shown it will give you a description on it. Also, if you go to the Adaware web site after you have run it there is more information there concerning what you have found in the course of your scan. I'm not sure about the second part of your question.

proxyhttp://localhost:15710/proxy/0/localhost/{a seemingly random number with a length of 37}*
Example: proxyhttp://localhost:15710/proxy/0/localhost/0359387507230194743297903373030194743*
Would anyone happen to know what this is doing and if this is suspicious behavior?

It seems these cookies are related with your proxy.

In IE7 Tried tools - internet options - settings - view files and although I get a display of the same dir as I did in IE6.1, there's nothing in it. "0 objects".

In Windows Explorer I right clicked on local settings-went to c:\documents and settings\...\local settings - properties and unchecked hidden.

In Windows Explorer I searched for a cookie by name and did not find it.

1. Where are the cookies ?
2. How can I get at them ?

2. from Windows Explorer: right clicked on the local settings directory, gone to properties-general-and unchecked hidden
3. wrote a cookie and then searched for it by name

I am sure cookie values are being used and that new ones are being made.

1. Where are they on IE7 ?
2. How do I get to them ?
3. Are they not being written to the disk and just in memory ?

We use a feature of your browser called a "cookie" to assign a "User ID." Cookies, by themselves, cannot be used to find out your identity or the identities of any of our users. It only identifies your computer to our servers when you visit our site. The most noticeable benefit of this is not having to "log in" every time you visit. I have been using firefox for about a year now, gotta say i love it. but this problem happens for both firefox and IE. Im going to initally blame it on the norton trial i had, but ill leave that up to you to decide.
When i use my website or any other website i get really unstable cookies, they work temporarily, some of the time. This prevents me from: administating phpbb forums, listening to internet radio and many other things.

I had just uninstalled a norton trial when it started, i did find a temporary solution which is to clear all cookies, but the problem returns about a day later. Im thinking it has to do with the excess security of norton.

anyway, thank you for your assistance.

A:Big Cookie Problems

Since the problem exists with Fx and IE, it would seem not to be anything to do with them but more something affecting both. If it only started with removing Norton, then I'd agree that it has to be a suspect. As I understand it, Norton can be a bit of a job to remove entirely and maybe vestiges of it being left over could be causing the problem. Look up 'norton removal' on a search engine for suggestions. The 'Norton Removal Tool' and other methods are mentioned. I'm not a Norton user so I'm not sure if these removal methods rely on Norton being installed to work, or if they will act as a 'clean-up' tool after Norton is uninstalled. Perhaps others might advise on this.

Do you have a 'System Restore' point available from a time before Norton Trial was installed? If so, perhaps try going back to that. This could return your computer's behaviour back to how it used to be. What security measures are you using now? If they were installed after uninstalling Norton and you use a restore point that was created before it was installed, it could be necessary to re-install current security (and any other) programs.

AVG warns of Euroclick tracking cookie ... cannot heal. Should this be of concern?
Thanks.

A:Euroclick cookie

Cookies are text string messages given to a Web browser by a Web server. Whenever you visit a web page or navigate different pages with your browser, the web site generates a unique ID number which your browser stores in a text (cookie) file that is sent back to the server each time the browser requests a page from that server. Cookies allow third-party providers such as ad serving networks, spyware or adware providers to track personal information. The main purpose of cookies is to identify users and prepare customized Web pages for them. The type of cookie that is a cause for some concern are "tracking cookies" because they can be considered a privacy risk. These types of cookies are used to track your Web browsing habits (your movement from site to site). Ad companies use them to record your activity on all sites where they have placed ads. They can keep count of how many times you visited a web page, store your username and password so you don't have to log in and retain your custom settings. When you visit one of these sites, a cookie is placed on your computer. Each time you visit another site that hosts one of their ads, that same cookie is read, and soon they have assembled a list of which of their sites you have visited and which of their ads that you have clicked on. They are used all over the Internet and advertisement companies often plant them whenever your browser loads one of their banners. Cookies are NOT a "threat". As text files they cannot be executed to cause any damage. Cookies do not cause any pop ups nor do they install malware. As long as you surf the Internet, you are going to get cookies and some of your security programs will flag them for removal. However, you can minimize this by reading "Blocking & Managing Unwanted Cookies" and "Block Third-Party Cookies in IE7".

I usually cleaning all cookies (CCleaner or ATF Cleaner)
My default browser is Firefox
I found that this mysterious cookie appears every day
it just looks like this IP address as it's shown in the subject line

which is Net Access Corporation in NJ

Who can tell what is this and why it's present?

I read a bit around and there are some similar requests but there is no certain answer.
I can recognize all cookies and sites I visited but this one is just irritating.

Thanks in advance

hello everyone

In the last few days i have been getting adware tracking cookies on my computer
What are they, are they dangerous, why do i keep getting them and can i stop this
from happening.

regards calmat

A:tracking cookie

Most cookies are benign in nature and not a cause for concern. You will find that every session of browsing will ultimately lead to some cookies being placed on your computer.

However, if you wish to get rid of these there are many programs that will delete them for you. I personally use this:-

SUPERAntiSpyware | Remove Malware | Remove Spyware - AntiMalware, AntiSpyware, AntiAdware!

Select the Free Edition, install and then run the program.

Alternatively, depending on your browser, you can select the option to delete all cookies when your internet session is over and you close the browser.

I just got this e-machine yesterday, & I keep getting either "enable cookies," (which I have done over and over) or "your computer does not have a cookie" messages. How do I get A cookie? If this is a silly question, it is because I know nothing about computers. I am fairly new to the internet.

Hi, I keep getting a ďthe browser your using is rejecting CookiesĒ error about 70% of the time when trying to log into most password protected pages of Ebay. Iím using Windows 98 as an operating system and Iím running IE 5.5 as my browser.

Iím using Norton Anti-virus and Zone Alarm as my firewall. Cookies are set to accept in Explorer/tools/ options and the explorer security level in tools/security is set to medium although reducing to medium low makes no difference.

Any help on what else to look for would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Mark

I've got Win XP. Is there a way to delete a cookie for just ONE website? When I go to Tools, Internet Options, I see only the option to delete ALL cookies. How do I do this?
Thanks!

I just looked this up, I had downloaded it long ago when I first had a computer and wasn't sure how to use it then.

Turns out it's only a free trial and then has to be "bought".

Since I'm on a very limited budget, I try to find things that are FREE.

Anyone know the name of something similar that is free?

I would like to set it up so I can save some cookies (I want, like T.V.Guide Channel settings) and get rid of the rest, without having to go over them one by one.

Thanks,
Carrie

SC,

Try looking here.

I use cookiewall and can then either delete them automatically, accept automatically, or accept temporarily.

A:I Think I Have A Infected Cookie Or Something.
