I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A:how to remove bios popup during startup

asrock makes subpar boards, but you should have an option to display an OEM boot screen, in the bootup options of your BIOS setup.

I use FF and have several installed which do a good job, altho I have to keep adding to
the block list. It seems the number of pop ups is inexhaustible and continue to grow!

My 80 year old cousin who is absolutely only a novice or basic user would like to
have some type of pop up blocker. She uses IE and runs XP.

As I have no IE experience, I would much appreciate some guidance.

I've read a little about AdBlock and AdBlock Pro - any good?

Thanks!

A:Need easy to setup and use popup blocker for IE & XP

Hi Macx,

firstly make sure you have the latest IE installed (IE-8). you will be suprised that if you turn on the IE pop-up blocker ALOT of these pop ups will be blocked. You could also try installing the Free version of AVG.
The free version of AVG will actuall check sites in search engines before you visit them and give them a coloured rating next to them green - yellow - red which will give you a general idea on the safety of the website. If you visit the downloads section of the site here then security->Antirvirus you will find a version there.

You could also try downloading the free version of Zonealarm (*there are two here Pro + Free pick the free one) again available from the Secuity section unders downloads on this site where you will be able to prevent programs from accessing the internet if you dont want them to.

As for the Adblocker programes i have little time for them and prefer not to use them.

hope this help

I'm a little confused by this. Isn't the whole point of using a sandboxed browser is that nothing leaves it. SAS picked this up:

accounts.key.com [ C:\AVAST! SANDBOX\S-1-5-21-3583729876-1247344376-3946384776-1000\SFZONE\C\USERS\NIGHTMARE\APPDATA\ROAMING\MACROMEDIA\FLASH PLAYER\#SHAREDOBJECTS\JG77RLU5 ]
I assumed that with a sandbox, stuff like this (especially a key bank flash cookie) would simply not exist.
Also, there is no C:\Avast!. I installed Avast to a custom folder and Avast doesn't use the word "Sandbox" to describe it's program in any files, always "SafeZone".

Don't get me wrong, pc's fine. I'm just wondering if this is typical or if Avast just makes a crappy sandbox.

A:Sandbox bank account tracking cookie?

Try using Google Chrome or FireFox with Disconnect + Adblock. That should eliminate the majority, if not all tracking stuff.

I've read/heard that if one UN checks the cookies box in ccleaner, they won't need to relogin all the time yet I've never had that happen. Is it possible?

A:Cookie settings for ccleaner?

It is true, clearing cookies will clear the login data. If unchecked your login data will be retained, that is if you opted for the login to be saved.

Hi all,
I just upgraded to Windows 7 ultima and it has IE8 with it, when i had vista running (IE7) i could save the cookies for sites i visited all the time in the allow part of ccleaner, so every time i clicked hotmail, lets say, i would log straight in.

Now, i have done the same for IE8 except even though ccleaner has saved the cookies i have allowed, IE8 never remembers my log in details so i have to log in to about 8 different sites everytime i shut down/switch on.
Where do i set this option up in IE8 please ?

thanks so much for reading and for anyhelp.
Regards,
Lee.

A:Explorer 8 cookie saves?

Under internet options then under privacy then advance. Pretty much the same as prior IE. There are some new security features though. You need to read though what you want to use in IE8. Or just use Firefox or even test that out with what your doing. Make sure you got the latest Ccleaner. You may also want to try instead of Ccleaner is Fcleaner.

I have a user within AD who is getting a chinese popup error everytime he presses a key in excel for the 1st time or even outlook. However on the 2nd occasion everything is fine and it works well and no error occurs.

I hvave done everything you can think of from a

Full Uninstallation of the app + registry removals of Office 11 and Re-installation

Checking that his AD I.D. has full rights within the Registry

Re-created his profile both Locally and Server Side

Re-installed the keyboard driver under his AD login

Tested using regmon and filemon and seen few failures here and there and got the registry keys elsewhere and imported

All of these still results with the user getting the popup error with Chinese Writing when the 1st key is pressed still

Any of you guys came across this and resolved??

I keep getting this Windows Live Sign in pop up when navigating my files in the drive folders or whenever I am in C:/ drive. It is a "Please Sign in with your Windows Live ID" asking for your login information. It doesn't give me the choice of never seeing the window again. It just has Ok or Cancel, anyone know how to get rid of this pop up?

A:Windows Live Sign in popup? how do I stop this annoying thing?

Found this on Google search:

sign in windows live messenger then
click tools>options >general page on the LHS column.
From the top, untick the first box
tick the second box
untick the third box
apply, close and sign outClick to expand...

But the way I look at it is, just uninstall windows live messenger

By the way, if the above fixes it, please let me know
I don't use Messenger chat stuff, so I don't know if it'll work

How do I get Outlook to stop asking me for my password every time I receive an email? I put a check in the box, so it would asking me for it, I have 2 accounts, and it will ask for the password on both accounts.

A:Outlook Password Popup Box

Do you have the "remember password" box checked? You didn't specify what version of Outlook you're running but in 2003 you can confirm by Opening Oulook and choosing 'Tools' then 'email accounts'. Under 'view or change email accounts' click next, then highlight one of the accounts and click on 'Change", the remember password box should be there.

It's a rickroll page that pops up an endless stream of "yes/no" queries while it taunts you with the rickroll playing in the background.

It's clever and if this were the only page on the internet that could do this... then I wouldn't mind it. I thought firefox blocked this sort of thing. Clearly not.

How do I harden my browser against attacks like this besides just turning javascript off. I'm sure I could make my browser immune... it would just come at the cost of screwing up practically every other website I ever visit.

Is there some sort of javascript filtering or scanning plugin I can look for or some setting buried in the config file?

I am looking for a popup blocker to work with firefox 1.5 - the Yahoo toolbar used to work but I see it is only compatible with 1.0 & 1.+ (whatever 1+ is).
I see that there is a download for popup killer 1.51 from DigiByte Studio & might try this freeware .
I am a little concerned about the ease of uninstallation. An article in a Which? suggested that it might be worth investing in a dedicated uninstaller program "such as Norton's Clean Sweep" for people who download a lot of freeware & shareware. Is this really a good idea? I run XP, have CCleaner & Erunt.

Hi Folks,

Seemingly out of the blue I now have this popup appearing at logon. A quick search suggested to disable relevant notifications in the Action Centre and to disable WindowsDefender in services.msc. Unfortunately neither of these fixes worked...

Any help please

A:How to stop Windows Defender "not running" popup

After trying various combinations of the above I finally searched for "remove Windows Defender" and found this utility;

Three times in the past 2 weeks I have gotten this. Is my PC infected? Is this truly something
I need to call MS about using the numbers posted?

John

A:What is this popup?

From what I know that is not a legitimate Microsoft help number. I believe it is a scam.

If you need to contact Microsoft, I would go to Microsoft's main site and get any numbers from there.

I got a notice that here were windows XP updates that I had not installed. I downloaded them and installed them, now I have a continuous popup informing me that windows in no longer valid. That's odd as I have used this windows version for many many years and have never had this issue.
According to a Microsoft web page provided through the popup, the only solution is to purchase a new computer from or through Microsoft. The word "blaskmail" comes to my mind when I get guidance like that.
Is there a way to simply remove the popup and continue using my Win XP as I have been doing , up untill I loaded the last of the 'offical' windows updates?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

A:downloads bring validation popup

If you have a pirated XP that was patched (very well) to appear legit then probably one of those last updates detected the fraud.

If you have a genuine XP then there must have been some corruption that is wrongly causing that popup. I used to occasionally get that happening (with Windows 7 but maybe XP also) but there was also a link given that when followed would download some Microsoft tool that would nose around and get things straightened out. If you're not getting that link I don't know how to proceed. Of course, you could reinstall, but you probably don't want to do that. If you have a recent image backup your best move may be to simply revert to that. Or you could try a System Restore to before the last updates.

I believe you just need to do (in firefox)  Menu, Options, Privacy, Show Cookies, Remove All.  Keep in mind that will probably log you out of any sites you normally use.

A:While using Flash Player, Chrome froze due to popup

Every day when I log on there is a new problem. I definitely have some kind of malware.

Yesterday: All my search engines have disappeared! In the search box, the drop down menu - nothing there. At all. I am able to go to a search engine and perform a search, so, at least that.

Today: A new development - my regular homepage is no more. Instead it has the Firefox startpage (my default browser), and it features a search box which is of course dead.

I really wish somebody would take an interest in helping me, i know this post is being viewed. I am like watching a train wreck in slow motion. i am afraid by the time someone finally gets to this it will be too late.

Hey guys, freshly installed workstation here at the office.. Everything went smooth, building, setup, installation etc...Last night, I started the updates before I went home for the night, but this morning I came in and I'm plagued with the "This computer is not running genuine Windows" popup.I've already checked very thoroughly for infection on the system, there is none, it is perfectly safe. The only installed products are Adobe Reader, Norton Security and Office 2013 Home and Student, which were all done from the trusted sources. Also, I've investigated the legitimacy of the popup, and it is the correct one from Microsoft, but I'm not sure why this is coming up.Its activated in the computer properties window, and the CoA was brand new in a sealed ziplock bag like they always come. Has anyone ever encountered this before and may be able to help me figure this out? The computer goes out tomorrow!

People have reported update KB3004394 can cause this problem because it screws up the root certificates. It was a very bad update that Microsoft has already pulled.

Hello, I've been seeing a popup in Windows Task Manager the past few days I was wondering if someone could help me fix; When I open Task Manager I get a popup message that says "The Selected Task (0) No Longer Exists." To see the current tasks, click Refresh. (There seems to be 2 tasks because I am clicking the message twice to get rid of it.) When I click Refresh, I see "Reading Data Failed" error messages in the "Task Status and "Active Tasks" sections, and the messages pop up again. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Recently, I have been getting a message saying "your current security settings do not allow this file to be downloaded" and does not let me download the file.

Lately this has become a major issue for alot of internet users, because when i search it up on google, the number of questions are crazy.

Unfortunately, all the answers left to help the person never work for me. I have tried about everything, from lowering down my firewall, to trying to change my registry.

If this question has been asked many times before in this forum, I'm sorry to post another one,but for some reason the search button on the website was not working for me.

Since you guys have solved my problems before,i am counting on your for help again!

If you need more details, ask me anything, because the earlier this problem is over, the better.

A:Your Current Security Settings Do Not Allow This File To Be Downloaded Popup

Try this and see if it helps. If it does you will have to decide if you want to disable the security that it gives you for the convenience of downloading what you want.

Go to your user settings and under the UAC (User Account Control) uncheck the box and I beleive you may have to reboot.
See if you still get the messages. If you do, then you may want to go back and select it again.

Hi there,my name is Marius and I will assist you with your malware related problems. Before we move on, please read the following points carefully.First, read my instructions completely. If there is anything that you do not understand kindly ask before proceeding.Perform everything in the correct order. Sometimes one step requires the previous one.If you have any problems while following my instructions, Stop there and tell me the exact nature of your problem.Do not run any other scans without instruction or add/remove software unless I tell you to do so. This would change the output of our tools and could be confusing for me.Post all logfiles as a reply rather than as an attachment unless I specifically ask you. If you can not post all logfiles in one reply, feel free to use more posts. If I don't hear from you within 3 days from this initial or any subsequent post, then this thread will be closed.Stay with me. I will give you some advice about prevention after the cleanup process. Absence of symptoms does not always mean the computer is clean. My first language is not english. So please do not use slang or idioms. It could be hard for me to read. Thanks for your understanding.     HijackThis is not the preferred initial scanning tool in this forum. With today's malware, a more comprehensive set of logs is required to determine the presence of malware.    Scan with FRST in normal modePlease download Farbar's Recovery Scan Tool to your desktop: FRST 32bit or FRST 64bit (If not sure: Start --> Computer (right click) --> properties) Run FRST.Don´t change one of the checkboxes and hit Scan.Logfiles are created on your desktop.Poste the FRST.txt and (after the first scan only!) the Addition.txt.     Scan with aswMBRPlease download aswMBR ( 4.5MB ) to your desktop.Double click the aswMBR.exe icon, and click Run.There will be a short delay before the next dialog box comes up. Please just wait a minute or two. When asked if you'd like to "download the latest Avast! virus definitions", click Yes.Typically this is about a 100MB download so depending on your connection speed it can take a short while to download and become ready.Click the Scan button to start the scan once the update has finished downloadingOn completion of the scan, click the save log button, save it to your desktop, then copy and paste it in your next reply.Note: There will also be a file on your desktop named MBR.dat do not delete this for now. Hi,

I am new to this site so sorry if I am posting in the wrong section!

So I have both bitdefender and AVG free installed on my laptop, both of which i installed when i realised i had a virus. Before then i was just using the pre-installed anti-virus software. AVG says the virus is a tracking coookie smartadserver and has located it to the inetcookies folder which is empty. Every day I get at least 8 new pop up warnings telling me there has been another one found and every scan i do it finds minimum 4 every time. My computer is relatively new, just 6 months old, and it is performing terribly so i know that i definitely do have a virus.

Please help someone! I have exhausted all of my very limited knowledge of removing viruses and don't have the money to get it sorted by a professional.

Thanks in advance,

Greg

Hello Crimson Fury and welcome to Bleeping Computer.
My name is Satchfan and I would be glad to help you with your computer problem. Please read the following guidelines which will help to make cleaning your machine easier:
please follow all instructions in the order posted
please continue to review my answers until I tell you your machine appears to be clear. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear
all logs/reports, etc. must be posted in Notepad. Please ensure that word wrap is unchecked. In Notepad click Format, uncheck Word wrap if it is checked
if you don't understand something, please don't hesitate to ask for clarification before proceeding
the fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for this issue on this machine.
please reply within 3 days. If you do not reply within this period I will post a reminder but topics with no reply in 4 days will be closed!
IMPORTANT:
Please DO NOT install/uninstall any programs unless asked to.
Please DO NOT run any scans other than those requestedMultiple antiviruses
Yoy say you have AVG and BitDefender antivirus programs installed.
You can not run two real-time antiviruses at the same time. Although many have different methods of searching for and recognising threats, they will all be 'fighting' in memory to kick each other out, rendering them all ineffective.
You need to disable one until we’re finished.
Open the AVG Control Center, by right-clicking on the AVG icon on task bar.
click on Tools
select Advanced
in the left hand pane, scroll down to "Resident Shield".
in the main pane, deselect the option to "Enable Resident Shield."
===================================================Note: Please run these in the order given in the instructions.
===================================================Download and run AdwCleaner
Download AdwCleaner from here and save it to your desktop.
run AdwCleaner
when it has finished, select Clean
if it asks to reboot, allow the reboot
on reboot a log will be produced; please attach the content of the log to your next reply.
===================================================Download and run Junkware Removal Tool Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista, 7, or 8; instead of double-clicking, right-mouse click JRT.exe and select "Run as Administrator"
the tool will open and start scanning your system
please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications
on completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open
post the contents of JRT.txt into your next message.
===================================================Run Farbar Recovery Scan Tool
Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them. Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.
right click to run as administrator (XP users click run after receipt of Windows Security Warning - Open File). When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
press Scan button
it will produce a log called Frst.txt in the same directory the tool is run from
please copy and paste log back here.
the first time the tool is run it generates another log (Addition.txt - also located in the same directory as FRST.exe/FRST64.exe). Please also paste that along with the Frst.txt into your reply.
Logs to include with next post:AdwCleaner log
JRT.txt
Frst.txt
Addition.txt
Thanks

Just now, a popup titled "HP Update" has appeared, saying :"An update is available. Would you like to download and install this update now?". I have an ASUS computer, and have never seen this before.
I'm running Windows 8.1. I'd also did a full system reset & reinstalled windows a couple weeks back, but have since then installed my old programs and put my files back on this computer. I've also downloaded some files from the internet that I'd initially thought were safe, and scanned with Bitdefender.

Hi all I've been lurking on this site for some time reading about other people's issues and I've managed variant fake Ukash chat and popup to cure quite a few nasties Ukash variant and fake chat popup in the past largely due to the advice presented here I've finally come up against one I can't seem to cure I realise it's against your advice but I've already run a few of the recommended tools Here's the story so far Customer calls and describes the Ukash malware except it's interpol not australian federal police A bit strange as I thought ukash was smart enough to know what Ukash variant and fake chat popup country it was in Anyway I collect the computer Toshiba Corei laptop with Win home premium and it looks like the usual - only it's NOT blocking all other access it's only a web page that won't close Task manager was able to run Windows start button was functional etc So I killed iexplore exe via task manager then rebooted into safe mode disabled Windows Security essentials and loaded combofix from a USB stick Before I ran combofix I checked the registry - HKLM Software Microsoft WindowsNT Winlogon - and it hadn't substituted a different shell as in the usual Ukash infection so I think this one was coming from some amateurs Combofix removed a variety of files all seemingly related to myscrapnook toolbar Reboot and ukash is gone but there's a fake chat popup showing up in Internet Explorer - Veronica you've been naughty Ukash variant and fake chat popup can we chat and a few variants of that To cut a long story short I installed and ran ADWCleaner Malwarebytes TDSSkiller and combofix again The first two found remnants of myscrapnook and a java exploit which were removed TDSSkiller and the second combofix run found nothing - unfortunately I neglected to save the first combofix log The popups continued I used the inspect element feature in IE to locate the URLs associated with the popups then put those into the hosts file pointing to and then the popups stopped - as I'd hoped While this fixed the symptom it was no guarantee so I removed the hosts file entries and continued to research the issue Since then I've re-set IE removed and reinstalled IE uninstalled skype click-to-call uninstalled Java hadn't been updated since but still the popups kept coming I checked the popup blocker in IE and popupmgr was in the allowed sites category so I removed it Maybe I should have done that first In the middle of this the bloody ukash page popped up again I killed that from task manager then re-started IE I haven't seen the popups or ukash since then My problem is that even though the popups haven't been seen in a couple of hours through multiple reboots I don't trust the system I haven't tracked down the cause of the popups nor have I removed the ukash infection to my satisfaction Given the circumstances I'm considering a format and re-install of Windows I can acces the customer's files to back up so she's not going to lose anything except money when she gets my bill Is there anything you can suggest that I haven't already done I'm not going to return the machine to the customer until I'm satisfied and I've run out of other options cheers

I have a seemingly random popup (not sure what triggers it) that asks me to update either Flash or Chrome.  The linked service leads to the vxmclient.exe or winvxm.exe files.  I have tried using several of the standard malware programs to no avail.  I tried deleting the file location (C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Network Accelerater\v3), but it has come back.  Also, one of the malware search programs tossed my settings for Firefox and when I tried to replace the profile many of my extensions were broken, so I'm trying not to do that again.

And seriously, y'all who volunteer your time helping people with their computer problems are wonderful!  Thank you

But the same thing sarted to happen at home pc as well. I suspected (i am still not sure about it) that was because of virus.
Although i like avg very much, i rely on combofix when problem persist. I scanned both pcs with combofix and now the incidence of popup has lowered by 80%. I don't know whether it was because of virus so i am sharing log file for experts to examine.

I wanted to add that I found a post on bleeping computer with a list of things to perform.  I did everything on the list, in the order as prescribed - but the problem persists.  I have all the log files generated from following that list, but since I don't understand them, I don't know what additional steps to perform based on the results.

Hello S0PH0S I would like to welcome you to the Malware Removal section of the forum.Around here they call me Gringo and I will be glad to help you with your malware problems.Very Important --> Please read this post completely, I have spent my time to put together somethings for you to keep in mind while I am helping you to make things go easier, faster and smoother for both of us!Please do not run any tools unless instructed to do so.We ask you to run different tools in a specific order to ensure the malware is completely removed from your machine, and running any additional tools may detect false positives, interfere with our tools, or cause unforeseen damage or system instability. Please do not attach logs or use code boxes, just copy and paste the text.Due to the high volume of logs we receive it helps to receive everything in the same format, and code boxes make the logs very difficult to read. Also, attachments require us to download and open the reports when it is easier to just read the reports in your post. Please read every post completely before doing anything.Pay special attention to the NOTE: lines, these entries identify an individual issue or important step in the cleanup process. Please provide feedback about your experience as we go.A short statement describing how the computer is working helps us understand where to go next, for example: I am still getting redirected, the computer is running normally, etc. Please do not describe the computer as "the same", this requires the extra step of looking back at your previous post.NOTE: At the top of your post, click on the "Follow This Topic" Button, make sure that the "Receive notification" box is checked and that it is set to "Instantly" - This will send you an e-mail as soon as I reply to your topic, allowing us to resolve the issue faster.NOTE: Backup any files that cannot be replaced. Removing malware can be unpredictable and this step can save a lot of heartaches if things don't go as planed. You can put them on a CD/DVD, external drive or a pen drive, anywhere except on the computer.NOTE: It is good practice to copy and paste the instructions into notepad and print them in case it is necessary for you to go offline during the cleanup process. To open notepad, navigate to Start Menu > All Programs > Accessories > Notepad. Please remember to copy the entire post so you do not miss any instructions.I would like you to run this program for me.Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop.Note: You need to run the version compatibale with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them. Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.Double-click to run it. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.Press Scan button. It will make a log (FRST.txt) in the same directory the tool is run. Please copy and paste it to your reply. The first time the tool is run, it makes also another log (Addition.txt). Please attach it to your reply.Gringo

Hi About an hour ago I got a popup saying my web-browser was locked due to talking to minors which I did not do and every time I tried to open a browser this would occur a new pop-up of the I am think Porn I infected! Police Popup? same thing It had a flag of Australia stated that I could serve time in prison had to pay some sort of fine and that everything I was doing was being recorded It also stated my IP address and my location but non specific I could not open a new site without it locking up and posting this nonesense Police Porn Popup? I think I am infected! I had to reboot the machine to stop this from happening I honestly think it was just a popup Police Porn Popup? I think I am infected! from a site I had visited let's just thank daniel tosh of tosh for the curiosity and was trying to close it down Still a part of me is concerned over the message and would like to know if it's indeed some random virus or if I should call my ISP or Police The only other odd thing I have been experiencing is delay when typing this has been occurring during the last week or two I remember you guys did a good check if my system had a virus not long ago and maybe I could still be infected or I picked up something new Cheers Lucius

A:Police Porn Popup? I think I am infected!

I called Telstra Support re: this message to see if it's legit or not and they said it's a virus and simple to remove. They said to just do a system restore to a day before the popup happened. I tried to do two restores (different dates as first try failed and Windows suggested a different date) but both had errors ie "was unsuccessful", however I have no idea why. I checked event viewer and it made no sense to me. Sorry.

So I will await for further instructions as I think Telstra have no idea.

Thank you.

Hi & to Bleeping Computer Forums! My name is Jürgen and I will be assisting you with your Malware related problems. Before we move on, please read the following points carefully: My native language isn't English. So please do not use slang or idioms. It could be hard for me to read. Thanks for your understanding. Please read my instructions completely. If there is anything that you do not understand kindly ask before proceeding.Perform everything in the correct order. Sometimes one step requires the previous one.If you have any problems while you are follow my instructions, Stop there and tell me the exact nature of your problem.Do not run any other scans without instruction or Add/ Remove Software unless I tell you to do so. This would change the output of our tools and could be confusing for me.Post all Logfiles as a reply rather than as an attachment unless I specifically ask you. If you can not post all logfiles in one reply, feel free to use more posts. If I don't hear from you within 5 days from this initial or any subsequent post, then this thread will be closed. If I don't reply within 24 hours please PM me!Stay with me. I will give you some advice about prevention after the cleanup process. Absence of symptoms does not always mean the computer is clean.Step 1Please run a FRST scan. This will help us diagnose your problem. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.(If you are not sure which version (32-/64-bit) applies to your system, download and try to start both of them as just the right one will run.)Start FRST with administator privileges.Make sure the option Addition.txt is checked and press the Scan button. When finished, FRST will produce two logs (FRST.txt and Addition.txt) in the same directory the tool was run from. Please copy and paste these logs in your next reply.

Hello,
Sorry I couldn't search for the above mentioned problem before posting as it is becoming very frustrating and I'am in need of quick help.
So, since today morning my chrome browser has been infected with this (adultcamera.info) pop up virus and I'am not able to get rid of this annoying  pop-up. It became even worse when the same virus got transferred to my phone, so now whenever I browse on my phone this same problem occurs.
I think so my entire router is infected with this virus.
Any form of immediate help will be appreciated.
Thank you

Edit: Just found out that my second phone which wasn't connected to my PC when it got infected with the virus isn't affected by it, only my first one which was connected is infected alongside my PC.

Hello droolq,Welcome to Bleeping Computer! My name is Cody and I'll be helping you clean up your computer. I will reply to your posts as soon as possible -- typically within 24 hours. In turn, I ask that you please respond within 72 hours. If you know you will be away longer than that, I just ask for notice ahead of time. Please do note any time differences between us. If I do not respond within 48 hours, feel free to send me a private message.==========================================================================Some points for you to keep in mind:Backup any files that cannot be replaced. Removing malware can be unpredictable and this step can save a lot of heartaches if things don't go as planned. We ask you to run different tools in a specific order to ensure the malware is completely removed from your machine, and running any additional tools may detect false positives, interfere with our tools, or cause unforeseen damage or system instability. Please do not run any tools or take any steps other than those I will provide for you while we work on your computer together. I need to be certain about the state of your computer in order to provide appropriate and effective steps for you to take. Most often "well intentioned" (and usually panic driven!) independent efforts can make things much worse for both of us. If at any point you would prefer to take your own steps please let me know, I will not be offended. I would be happy to focus on the many others who are waiting in line for assistance.Do not attach logs or use code boxes, just copy and paste the text.In the upper right hand corner of the topic you will see the button. Click on this then choose Immediate E-Mail notification and then Proceed and you will be sent an email once I have posted a response. If you do not reply to your topic after 5 days we assume it has been abandoned and I will close it.Once things seem to be working again, please do not abandon the thread. I will give an "all-clean" message at the very end with some additional information on how to stay malware-free.Lastly, I would like to remind you that most members here are volunteers, and sometimes "real life" can get in the way of our malware hunt. I will notify you if I know I will need to be away for longer than 48 hours.==========================================================================Farbar Recovery Scan Tool (FRST)Download Farbar Recover Scan Tool for either 32 bit or 64 bit systems and save it to your desktop. If you are unsure if you have 32 bit or 64 bit simply download and try one. If that doesn't run properly the other one should.Double click the icon.Click Yes to the disclaimer.Make sure the Addition.txt box is checked.Click Scan and allow the program to run.Click OK on the Scan complete screen, then OK on the Addition.txt pop up screen.2 Notepad documents should now be open on your desktop. Please copy and paste the contents of both in your reply==========================================================================Also, do you have a Google account that you are logged into on both your PC and phone (assuming you also use Google Chrome as the web browser on your phone)?

I am getting a popup on my daughters computer from a sitetechsupportexpertise.com.  IT says that my computer is infected with a virus and a phone number to call.  This was on google chrome.  I did nothing but use task manager to close chrome.

We are running Windows 8 on this computer

Hi there,That popup is one of the commonly used tactics to lure people into tech support scams. If you just closed the popup without actually interacting with it, then you should be fine. There is also an offer of a checkup for any infections if you want, but personally I think that popup is a scam Regards,Alex

Download and run wipe  and system ninja,

https://privacyroot.com/software/www/en/wipe.php
https://singularlabs.com/software/system-ninja/

Then.....

Go ahead and install ccleaner Now that you have the program installed go ahead and run the cleaner function.
https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download
Now that you have cleaned out some temp files, lets go ahead and disable all of the items starting up with your machine except your antivirus. To do this you will need to click on tools then start up select each item then disable.
Now that you have disabled those un-needed start ups lets go into the settings, we will have Ccleaner run when your machine boots, so that you will never have to worry about cleaning temp files again. To do this:
Hit options.

As of currently every now and then I see a command prompt with the name Taskeng.exe. The popup has nothing on it aside from a blank black screen. I have run a malwarebytes scan and a bitdefender scan in which neither found anything (although bitdefender seems to just find cookies). Anyone know what is going on?

Download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your desktop.
Close all open programs and internet browsers.
Double click on adwcleaner.exe to run the tool.
Click on Scan button.
When the scan has finished click on Clean button.
Your computer will be rebooted automatically. A text file will open after the restart.

Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
Post the contents of JRT.txt into your next message
Use CCleaner to remove Temporary files, program caches, cookies, logs, etc. Use the Default settings. No need to use the
Registry Cleaning Tool...risky. Pay close attention while installing and UNcheck offers of toolbars....especially Google.
After install, open CCleaner and run by clicking on the Run Cleaner button in the bottom right corner.
CCleaner - PC Optimization and Cleaning - Free Download
Run the ESET Online Scanner.
Hold down Control and click on this link to open ESET OnlineScan in a new window.
Click the button.
For alternate browsers only: (Microsoft Internet Explorer users can skip these steps)
Click on esetsmartinstaller_enu.exe to download the ESET Smart Installer. Save it to your desktop.
Double click on the icon on your desktop.
Check "YES, I accept the Terms of Use."
Click the Start button.
Accept any security warnings from your browser.
Under scan settings, check "Scan Archives" and "Remove found threats"
ESET will then download updates for itself, install itself, and begin scanning your computer. Please be patient as this can take some time.
When the scan completes, click List Threats
Click Export, and save the file to your desktop using a unique name, such as ESETScan. Include the contents of this report in your next reply.
Click the Back button.
Click the Finish button.
NOTE:Sometimes if ESET finds no infections it will not create a log.

Second, Open CCleaner and click on Tools. Choose Startups. On that page you will see a list of Windows Startups and at the top tabs for each browser and Scheduled Tasks.
At the bottom right of that page you will see a button when clicked will allow you to Copy and Paste the list of Windows Startups and Scheduled Tasks into your next
post. Please do that.

Open CCleaner and click on Tools. Choose Uninstall. On that page you will see a list of programs installed on your computer and at the bottom right of that page you

Sometimes when I open up a new browser window and try to navigate to a page a pcfixit window will popup over the content and also will play a voice message asking me to call a phone number 855 579-9306 to fix a privacy breach, lol.

After closing this ad the browser will hang and become unresponsive.

I tried to uninstall all the browser add-ons. But the only thing that changed is that when they do display the ads sometimes the ads are blank.

I also updated Windows and Adobe Flash.

Hi everyone.
This is my first post. Thank you in advance for any help.

I have been infected by adultcameras.info popup. Very often, when I click on several links in various sites, a popup window or new tab of adultcameras.info is displayed. The problem affects mainly Google Chrome. I don't remember if Internet Explorer and Mozilla showed the same problem, but even if this has happened the occurance is much more rare.
I have used several spyware removal tools, I have changed the DchpNameServer in registry, I have reset my router, I have unistall and reistall Google Chrome, but nothing is working. The problem persists (and so I have blocked my kids Internet access). I had also many problem opening pages since error 404 was coming too often. It seems now that this is resolved after the reseting of my router.

So, is there anyone that can help?
Thank you ...

Hi Folks I'm not sure where to post this thread so forgive me if this is the wrong section of the forum Has anybody else come across this tracking cookie It gets regularly picked up and deleted by Super AntiSpyware I'm not a particular fan of this malware tool and much prefer MalwareBytes but it DOES persistent - cookie nuisance minadvertising tracking pick up some tracking cookies that MBAM misses It also appears as ad minadvertising com Before posting this I searched on various forums and the internet generally to try and find some clue as to which sites I visit regularly that could be delivering it and I found nothing I've tried to block it on a browser by browser basis but it still keeps coming back I've now tracked persistent nuisance tracking cookie - minadvertising it down to the Internet Explorer cookies folder but the weird thing is that I've disabled IE some time ago and cleared everything out with PrivaZer I'm thinking that maybe it constantly re-appears because some other software is still using IE in a phone-home type of situation and running it in the background Anybody got any hints or tips to stomp this thing persistent nuisance tracking cookie - minadvertising out of existence at least on MY computer Thanks

Malwarebytes intentionally does not search for and remove cookies because they pose no significant threat...it has more important things to look for.We do not detect or remove cookies as they are not considered a malware threat to your system. There are plenty of 3rd party programs to remove or you can even have most browsers automatically remove if you like.Malwarebytes forum, Post #2 by AdvancedSetup (Root Admin)Cookies are text string messages given to a Web browser by a Web server. Whenever you visit a web page or navigate different pages with your browser, the web site generates a unique ID number which your browser stores in a text (cookie) file that is sent back to the server each time the browser requests a page from that server. Cookies allow third-party providers such as ad serving networks, spyware or adware providers to track personal information. The main purpose of cookies is to identify users and prepare customized Web pages for them.Persistent cookies have expiration dates set by the Web server when it passes the cookie and are stored on a user's hard drive until they expire or are deleted. These types of cookies are used to store information between visits to a site and collect identifying information about the user such as surfing behavior or preferences for a specific web site.Session cookies (transient or Non-persistent cookies) cookies are not saved to the hard drive, do not collect any information and have no set expiration date. They are used to temporarily hold information in the form of a session identification stored in memory as you browse web pages. These types of cookies are cached only while a user is visiting the Web server issuing the session cookie and are deleted from the cache when the user closes the session.Cookies can be categorized as:Trusted cookies are from sites you trust, use often, and want to be able to identify and personalize content for you.Nuisance cookies are from those sites you do not recognize or often use but somehow it's put a cookie on your machine.Bad cookies (i.e. persistent cookies, long term and third party tracking cookies) are those that can be linked to an ad company or something that tracks your movements across the web.The type of persistent cookie that is a cause for some concern are "tracking cookies" because they can be considered a privacy risk. These types of cookies are used to track your Web browsing habits...your movement from site to site. Ad companies use them to record your activity on all sites where they have placed ads. They can keep count of how many times you visited a web page, store your username and password so you don't have to log in and retain your custom settings. When you visit one of these sites, a cookie is placed on your computer. Each time you visit another site that hosts one of their ads, that same cookie is read, and soon they have assembled a list of which of their sites you have visited and which of their ads that you have clicked on. Cookies are used all over the Internet and advertisement companies often plant them whenever your browser loads one of their banners.Cookies are NOT a "threat". As text files, cookies are inherently harmless and cannot be executed to cause any damage. Cookies do not cause any pop ups or install malware and they cannot erase or read information from a computer. Cookies cannot be used to run code (run programs) or to deliver viruses to your computer. The purpose of a cookie is to tell the Web server that you have returned to a specific Web page.Microsoft's Description of CookiesCookies are short pieces of data used by web servers to help identify web users. My computer is acting really slow now, and it started making buzzing noises, and on startup the fan is making an incredible racket as well. Malwarebytes hasn't found anything. What should I do? Each warning has three fields, object: infection: and Process:
usually says http;//f0fff0...... or fa8072 or maybe go.wymedia

infection is always url mal

Having endless problems trying to resolve the slowing down even crashing on the Net probably caused by the Javascript notice in the attached pic. I've reinstalled Java twice, done a complete 3 hour registry cleanup with Zone Alarm (had for years and is excellent) and done a clear out with Junkware Removal Tool yet it still keeps appearing. The bank says it's a software fault and nothing to do with them.

Any help and advice very much appreciated....!!

Thanks

A:Javascript popup notice keeps appearing....?

Hi,
Not sure why you need Java from Oracle
Temp files delete,
Save it to your desktop,
Then right click it and click on Run this as administrator and Start the scanner,
Shut your machine down after it finishes if prompted to if not close button,

I keep getting a popup at all my browsers (firefox, internet explorer, chrome) at random times.

The popup displayed this message: sin1.g.adnxs.com say: You won an iphone (screenshot http://i.imgur.com/at344LM.png )
I have clicked x but it still popups after some time.
I have clicked cancel but it still popups after some time.

I have followed these steps at Remove ib.Adnxs.com pop-up virus (Removal Guide) but the popup still happens.

How can I remove the popup?

I have spent lots of time but I still could not get rid of the popup.

Thanks a lot.

A:How to remove popup box inside browser

Did you follow all the steps at the remove ib.Adnxs site?

STEP 1: Uninstall the adware program responsible for the ib.Adnxs.com pop-ups
STEP 2: Remove ib.Adnxs.com adware from Internet Explorer, Firefox and Google Chrome with AdwCleaner
STEP 3: Remove ib.Adnxs.com pop-up virus with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free
STEP 4: Double-check for the “ib.Adnxs.com” malware with HitmanPro
(Optional) STEP 5: Remove ib.Adnxs.com pop-up ads from Internet Explorer, Firefox and Google Chrome
The list looks pretty comprehensive to me and should do the job.

A:Help with XPCOM popup

Hi:

That's a rather non-specific error/problem.
So it's hard to say, without more specific info about the system, including its security setup.

IF you are running KAV/KIS/KTS 2016 and MBAE (Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit), see HERE.

Short version: there was/is a compatibility issue between KAV/KIS/KTS 2016 and MBAE 1.07.1.1015.
Solution: download and install on top the MBAE 1.08.1.1021 BETA Preview, as explained HERE.
(If you use NoScript in Firefox, you'll need to allow "box.com" and boxcdn.net" to allow the download.)
Alternatives:
MBAE 1.07 Free -- temporarily uninstall until 1.08 is available via General release.
MBAE 1.07 Premium -- disable browser shields until 1.08 is available via General release.

Cheers,

MM

A fake popup warning appeared while I was browsing something on IE. I forgot it's best to close Internet Explorer completely from the task manager when something like this happens so I closed it using the X window button and it appeared again a few more times until it closed. Malwarebytes blocked several websites when it opened and while I was trying to close it. If Malwarebytes and Windows Defender (MSE in Windows 8) scans don't find anything, is everything fine?

Hello and welcome to TSG,

My screen name is kevinf80, either that or Kevin is good for replies. Ok lets continue:

Change the download folder setting in the default Browser so all tools we may use are saved to the Desktop:

Google Chrome - Click the "Customize and control Google Chrome" button in the upper right-corner of the browser.
Choose Settings. at the bottom of the screen click the
"Show advanced settings..." link. Scroll down to find the Downloads section and click the Change... button. Select your desktop and click OK.

Mozilla Firefox - Click the "Open Menu" button in the upper right-corner of the browser. Choose Options. In the downloads section, click the Browse button, click on the Desktop folder and the click the "Select Folder" button. Click OK to get out of the Options menu.

Internet Explorer - Click the Tools menu in the upper right-corner of the browser. Select View downloads. Select the Options link in the lower left of the window. Click Browse and select the Desktop and then choose the Select Folder button. Click OK to get out of the download options screen and then click Close to get out of the View Downloads screen.
NOTE: IE8 Does not support changing download locations in this manner. You will need to download the tool(s) to the default folder, usually Downloads, then copy them to the desktop.

Next,

After the restart once you are back at your desktop, open MBAM once more.

To get the log from Malwarebytes do the following:
Click on the History tab > Application Logs.
Double click on the scan log which shows the Date and time of the scan just performed.

I recently upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10, and since then, I have been receiving a frequent popup which states "Microsoft Windows Based Script Host" and asks for a place to open it. Please show me a way to delete this annoyance.

A:Popup app

You can try the steps here to fix it :- http://www.windowstechinfo.com/2015...o-open-this-type-of-file-js-windows-88-1.html

But if any of the scans find malware I strongly advise you to make a new topic in the TSG 'Virus & Other Malware Removal' forum here :- https://forums.techguy.org/forums/virus-other-malware-removal.54/
