Changing Default Font Size of Arabic in IE8

Q: Changing Default Font Size of Arabic in IE8

Is there a way to change the default font size of the Arabic font of choice in IE? I see where I can choose which font, but I don't see an option for its size, other than changing all fonts. Roman letters appear much larger than Arabic and to enlarge all to accomodate Arabic makes the Roman letters huge!

The alternative might be to locate an Arabic font that is inherently larger and add that to the list of options, but I don't know what font that would be nor how to add it to the list in IE8.

There has to be a way. Anyone have suggestions?

Thanks a million!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi all, just 2 weeks back i've come across a new problem in Word2000. I've a friend try to change the font sizes in Word 2000 when using Arabic Fonts. But she is unable to do that. But if she were to try changing the Arabic Fonts size in Excel 2000, she will be able to do that. I've tried logging on as another user id (Windows 2000) but the problem persist.

Have also tried to repair office, un-install/re-install office, re-create a new profile for her, but nothing seems to work.

Any ideas?

A:my font keeps changing size on it's own

I have just purchased an HP 15 Touchscreen two days ago AND IT IS DRIVING ME MAD As I am typing a document, the font is continually minimising to the smallest font possible AND the screen splits into two and four.   Additionally, my e-mails now will only type in the most enormous font - say 40 so that I am only able to see one line of typing on a screen.   Whilst all this is happening, my toolbar has not altered at all and still features my Font Size 11 that I always use.

In WinXP, there was an option in the display settings where I could increase the font DPI. This ONLY increased the windows program fonts and affected little else. So the text under the icons was small, as was the text in various dialog boxes. However, it would have NO effect whatsoever on web pages. Images were unchanged, fonts were unchanged.

Is this possible in Windows 7? I want to see web pages at their original resolution and change them individually if I want to.

A:Changing font size... not the icon

If changing the Display resolution isn't working (Control Panel - Appearance and Personalization - Display - Screen Resolution "Make text and other items larger or smaller") isn't doing it, Windows IE 8 has a tab in the lower right corner to jack up the resolution in the browser. For sites that have small text on parts of them, you can jump the resolution from 125% to 150, or better.

Here's another suggestion from Dwarf, in an earlier thread:

"Try this. Click Tools and Internet Options. On the General tab, under Appearance, click Accessibility. In the Formatting section, click to check (place a tick) the option Ignore font sizes specified on webpages and then click OK twice."

Hello Brit,

Usually a 19" monitor will have a 1280x1024 native screen resolution. It's usually the hightest one available.

The default DPI setting is 96 DPI or 100%.

Hope this helps,

Hello,

I would love to know a way to reduce Win7's text and other items on my screen by choosing a percentage lower then it's default of 100% (IE: 96 dpi). I don't have the answer to your question, but I am curious why you would want to do this? You must still have very good eyesight...I have to increase the size of the fonts.

EDIT: It may not be precise enough for you, but you may be able to find what you want by using a different font.

Hi...

Thanks

A:Changing Font size/ type globally in Win 7

You're welcome to try all of the items in my list of methods to change fonts. You can pick and choose multiple settings, to see what works best for you.

1. This is the one of the main setting tools for setting various locations of Windows font sizes. Right-click on the Desktop and go to Personalize, Window Color and Appearance. Click on Advanced, and in the drop-down menu, select the item that controls the location where you wish to change the font size. (Note: the last one, Window, does not have an option to control font size.)

2. DPI - Right click on Desktop, Personalize, On Personalization Page, go to left column to: Adjust Font size ? DPI, DPI Scaling: Click on Large scale (120 DPI), and click Apply.

3. Screen Resolution: Right-click on the Desktop, choose Screen Resolution, click on the down-arrow at the end of the Resolution box, and pick the desired resolution. Check OK.

4. Display: Right-click on the Desktop, select Personalize, then Display. From the 3 settings: Small, Medium, Large, if screen defaults to Medium (125% size for font and images) and that?s too large, use Small for 100% size (aka ?normal?)

5. At the lower right hand corner of every IE web page, there?s a Zoom control that lets you increase the size of every web page, and it stays at that Zoom setting for every page until/unless you change it.

6. Open Internet Explorer, go to Tools, Internet Options, General, Accessibility, Select Ignore font sizes specified on web pages. Click OK, then Apply, then OK.

7. Open Internet Explorer, go to Tools, Internet Options, Advanced, uncheck all three:
Reset text size to Medium for new windows and tabs, and
Reset text size to Medium while Zooming, and
Reset Zoom level to 100% for new windows and tabs

8. Open Internet Explorer, click the Page button, click Text Size, and then select the size you want i.e. Large (Largest may be too large).

9. Ease of Access Center ? Go to either: Control Panel, All Control Panel Items, Ease of Access Center, Make Your Computer Easier to Use, Explore All Settings, and click on: Make this computer easier to see (Optimize Visual Display). OR go to Control Panel, and Explore all settings. Under the following heading, Make things on the screen larger, select: Change the size of text + icons. This takes you to the dpi settings screen.

10. If you have a scroll wheel on your mouse, use command/ctrl + your scroll on a web page to increase the font size.

11. MS Office apps have a Zoom slider at the lower right hand corner of every page, that lets you increase the size of every Office app page, and it stays at that Zoom setting until/unless you change it.

12. MS Word templates: In the Ribbon or QuickAccess Bar select Styles, Normal, and when the little arrow appears, select Modify. Under Formatting you can change the default font size (12) to whatever size you wish. At the bottom of the screen select Only in this documents OR New documents based on this template. Click OK. You can change this font size setting for any/all other MS Word templates as well.

13. In IE and FireFox (for current use ? not permanent): press Ctrl and the + key to increase screen size. To reduce screen size press Ctrl and the ? key. (To restore screen size to 100% press Ctrl and 0.)

14. FireFox (permanent setting): go to Tools, Options, Content, and on that screen set the new default text size that you wish. Then, click Advanced and there are additional default text size settings. Plus, in the box that says "Minimum text size" select None, and down below, UNcheck the box that says "allow pages to choose their own fonts instead of my selections above."

15. Magnifier ? To Magnify Entire Page: Start, Search pane, and type: magnifier. When it comes up click the plus (+) sign. The entire page will magnify. OR go to: Control Panel, All Control Panel Items, Ease of Access Center, Make Your Computer Easier to Use, Start Magnifier.

Hi,
I have just installed Microsoft Outlook 2007 and some of the column fonts are kinda small. From left to right I have the 3 columns Mail, Inbox, and To Do.
I can change the fontsize in the Inbox column so I can read the emails ok but I can't seem to change the size of the Mail column fonts that has the heading Favorite Folders followed below by inbox, sent items, outbox on down. Same thing with the To Do column where the calendar and other notes are. The font size is just too small within the column.
Someone know how to change the size of the fonts in those columns? I tried going to

A:Is there a way to change the size of the default font in WordPad

To change the default font in WordPad, you would have to change the system configuration.
This is a quick way to change the font before you type anything in Wordpad. When you open WordPad, double click in the empty text area and you should see a thick selection bar instead of the thin cursor bar. This selects all, then go to the font size and change it to any size you want. Your font size should remain at the chosen setting for the entire time that you are working on the file.

Hi, I am wondering if anybody can suggest to me a way to set a default font size for my IME Japanese. I'm working on a document in MS Word and the current default font size 12 that I get for my Japanese input is kind of appears large for the English Times Roman font 12. I am thinking 12 for Times Roman and 10 for Japanese may be a nice fit with each other. Is this an impossible to set things up like that?

I can easily change the size and font but can't find how to set it as the new Default setting Can it be done Using Mail for Win for first time as that is what appeared for my Outlook email account I found today that when using either CC or BCC a 'Return' occurs immediately after entering an email address thereby moving the cursor to the line below requiring moving the cursor back to that original line so that another email address can be entered and again and again Never saw this before so probably hopefully a fix is coming While typing an email I touched the Caps Lock key mid-sentence and typed one capital letter in error I touched that key turning off the caps lock function and the light went off But from that point on I could only type in CAPS and Default 10 Win font Mail..How to more size?.....and change regardless of what I did I had to close email and restart it to have it return to normal Anyone else find that to be the case How to fix

The default font size is Calibri 11. That cannot be changed.
The only change you can make is to manually change the font size on each email when you compose a message.
Sorry.

In other more sophisticated email programs such as Windows Live Mail, you can set default font size as well as style.

Good day.

I wish to know if there is a way to change the font size/style (bold, etc.) of the icon labels ONLY on the desktop screen.

I've tried the Control Panel method (Appearance & Personalization -> Display) that allows me to change the fonts for 'ICONS'. However, this option also changes the appearance of fonts in the directories/filenames, which is not what I want.

E.g. Labels on the desktop with size 12 and bold. Fonts in folders: size 9 and UNbolded (default style).

Anyone have a solution for this?

So I'm running across an issue with Win7 where my fonts seem to be changing on their own.

First I thought it must just be the settings on my browser, but its extended to my games and things as well. Steam, for instance, has changed from the default text (whatever it was) to a font that tends to overlap each other. I dont have any screen shots to show or I'd post them. Then just this morning all the text in my gmail account was italic on my home pc, but when I checked it from work it was normal.

Does anyone have any ideas? This is extremely annoying!

(My apologies if there is already a post addressing this, I couldn't easily find anything.)

I need a step by step list to make the font sizes of my return address envelopes bigger by about two levels. I am happy with the font size of the delivery address default, but the return address default is too small. The guide I found on line wasn't very helpful, as it read like brain surgery!

I have legacy Word experience using Word 97-2003, and envelope settings were much easier to select on those versions! Note that I want to keep the return address envelope font size as the default envelope setting.

This can happen if a registry value is incorrect. If you are happy making changes to your registry try this. First, set a system restore point. Next, click on Start>run. In the box type "regedit". As an extra precaution click File on the top line then select Export. Name the file "backup" and save to your desktop. Navigate to HKEY_ CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft \Internet Explorer\Main. In the right-hand pane, locate and delete the value Window_Placement by right-clicking on it and selecting delete. Click File then exit. Now open IE and maximise the window. now close IE and reopen and check the size. It should now be full-screen.
Please let me know how you get on.

Hi, there is one excel file that I have that I would like to keep a certain window size on my computer. I don't like to have to drag it back to the size I want every time I open the file. The file is protected but it seems to not want to listen to me when I try and format the window the way I want it to. Any suggestions?

A:Excel default window size keeps changing

What version of MS Office do you have?

As a general rule, once you drag the corner to the size you want and close the program, it will reopen to that same size. I don't think (but I could be wrong) that there's a way to choose a specific size for one particular document.

The only thing I can think of it to set your "restore down" to the size you want (assuming it's smaller than full screen) and then when you access that document you won't have to drag the corners but rather just click on the "restore down" icon in the top right-hand corner.

I've been struggling with an issue that I hope someone here can help resolve. A few weeks ago, I suddenly started seeing this ugly font (see images below) on many webpages.

I think this issue began right around the time I installed some other fonts, but I am not sure. Initially, I figured it was a Chrome thing but have since confirmed the issue extends to IE and Firefox, leading me to believe this is a Windows issue. By the time I tried to revert the changes via System Restore, it was too late (restore only went back a few days; maybe I need to adjust settings there?).

I tried to reset the default font but Windows does not seem to respond to that. When I click "Restore to default font settings" the button greys out but nothing else happens. No dialog box and no change in the issue.

Any ideas?

Windows 10.

I am having much fun grappling with my displays. I say grapple because I CANNOT see the text!

I have a laptop, with a display that has up to 2048x resolution and an external monitor that does 1920x. I have tried to keep both set the same resolution so the mouse will easily go back and fort.

If I bump one setting, others seem to change. Like after an update too!

I need a script, to set, then set again, and again, the
display settings,
the custom scaling level, and
the "change only text size".

Keeping the monitor placement geometry the same would be great for me too.

Oh for a cross reference on Outlook 2013 to the system setting. I keep manipulating the view settings there too.

Probably to get started I could use a "settings display" script.

Help, please

I tried to delete the file but it tells me that it is in use in another program. I can delete other font files though.
Any help would be appreciated, Helvetica Neue Light Condensed has awkward kerning that mesh letters together in all the wrong places.

A:Installing a font somehow changed my default browser font.

In google go into tools -> options
Type font into search options.
Click on customize fonts
Is your font listed?

There may still be harmful stuff on your computer, which keeps deleting these files... Go through these steps: http://www.techsupportforum.com/secu...sting-log.html and then post a HJT log here: http://www.techsupportforum.com/secu...this-log-help/

I am a novice, but with some experience in Word, plus had help from a professional. So we downloaded and intalled the keyboard and complex script and right-to-left languages as described here http://zsigri.tripod.com/fontboard/arablpk.html. We restarted when promted. Opened a Word doc, set the language and font to Arabic transparent, but it keeps switching back to Arial or New Times Roman as soon as I type. I can open Arabic documents without any problem and I can cut & paste and it all appears as it should on the page, justified to the right, etc.

Can someone please help? Thanks a million!

Oh - and I installed it on my other computer which also runs XP, but it's Office 2007. It didn't have any problems.

Thanks.

Hello

I'm not sure what has happened but I went to create a system restore point earlier today only to find that the box where you type the description has shrunk down to an unreadable size as you can see below

Other programs don't seem to be affected, ie when naming/renaming files or installing programs into custom locations font size is normal. I don't know if it is only system restore that has this problem but it's the only program i've come across that is suffering.

Any ideas what has gone wrong or more importantly how to resize the type box so I can at least see what i'm typing?

Running win XP pro/SP3

Any help gratefully received

Hi,

I am having trouble with the font size and Pop up boxes size. Both are either too big or too small. I dont know how to solve this problem.

For example if I want to update my Symantic AntiVirus or Install a new program, the Box that opens is either too big or too small and font size too.

Recently I copied some fonts to my folder in Windows folder (Fonts folder).

I think maybe that has caused the problem. But I dont know how to solve it.

Please Help.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Muneeb and welcome to TSF !

You could give system restore a try : start => all programs => accessories => system tools => system restore. Select a date in bold prior to when the problem began. You won't lose any personal data but you may need to reinstall any program or update you've installed since then.

Else the system file checker can restore your system fonts. You'll need an XP install CD with service pack 2 (XP Home SP2 or XP Pro SP2 depending on the version you have installed). If your current CD hasn't got service pack 2 then you need to create a slipstreamed CD with SP2. Use one of these guides and report once you have an XP SP2 install CD :

I have printers on my PC is a receipt printer with mm wide paper The other is an HP with letter size paper The receipt printer is set as the default printer since it is used most But sometimes I need to do a print of the web page used for the Point Of Sale When I select the HP printer for the output the page is printed but only mm wide instead of letter size Likewise if I set the HP as the default printer then when I select the receipt printer IE11 To Other Size Than Default Printing When Default. Windows Paper as the output it tries to print letter size IE does not appear to change the paper size when a printer other than the default is selected It ALWAYS uses the paper size of the IE11 Default Paper Size When Printing To Other Than Windows Default. default printer irregardless of the printer selected for output Note that Chrome works correctly and will adjust the page size to the default for whichever printer is selected but IE will not Also note that NotePad has IE11 Default Paper Size When Printing To Other Than Windows Default. the same issue I haven't tested with edge but then it won't support Activex either I am limited to using IE because the credit card scanner used IE11 Default Paper Size When Printing To Other Than Windows Default. with the receipt printer requires Activex support My only workaround now is to switch to using Chrome whenever I need to print to any printer other than the Windows default printer There was a similar old issue quot IE Default Paper Size quot that never really had a resolution It reported a similar issue between printers with Letter and A paper sizes Any help would be appreciated quot There is always a way to do it better find it quot

I have been using Picasa to automatically import photos from my digital camera. I would prefer that not to happen anymore. I have stopped Picasa Media Detector from starting on startup but Picasa still opens automatically when I insert my cable from my camera to the my desktop (xp home).
What can I do to stop Picasa from behaving this way and having the default Windows program to import my photos?
Thank you for looking.

A:Changing the default photo program from Picasa to Windows default

If you get a mass storage drive letter when you connect your camera you can try connecting the camera so the drive letter is present, then right click on the drive and choose properties and in properties select the autoplay tab and specifically select an action for the type of files present such as open folder for viewing in windows explorer or whatever else is available.

If that doesn't work let us know, maybe media detector is running as a service and that needs to be shut down or something.

For some inexplicable reason the font size in OE messages that I print suddenly gets larger. I do not know how to restore them to their previous size except by using System Restore. I'm sure there must be a better method than this. I'm using XP.

A:Font Size

To change the font sizes in Outlook Express, you make the changes in Internet Explorer

If the font is too large or too small, change the text size in Internet Explorer by clicking View | Text Size | select larger or smaller as required, and then try printing again.

System Restore is not needed for this fix, which should be much simpler

Hi,
When I was trying to make my XP SP3 look like Vista, I changed something for the font.
I used Movefile and a script. When the computer restarted, the font had changed, but is far too big and looks terrible.
I didn't save a system restore point
And I have tried changing the font size in 'Display Settings', then 'Appearance'. And I have tried changing the DPI setting and the 'Display Settings', 'Settings', then 'Advanced'.
Nothing. I really want everything put back to normal. How do I reset the fonts back to the standard XP size and style?
Or if possible, just to reduce the system font size.

I used these instructions: http://www.ghacks.net/2008/04/11/fully-replace-windows-xp-fonts-with-windows-vista-fonts/

A:HELP! XP Font Size

heeaar05, You should have set a System Restore point like the instructions stated before you made the change. You could try the reg file fix line 249 (left column) "Set Default XP Font Back to Tahoma" at the link below. Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it and answer yes to the import prompt.

http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Can't guarantee that it will fix your problem so it's your call.

Is there a way to set just the font size without windows trying to enlarge everything? In windows xp selecting a bigger font size only affected window's fonts and icons. In windows 7 selecting a bigger font size zooms everything, including other applications like open office and opera that cannot handle it and look blurry. Am i the only one with this problem?

A:Font Size

It depends on the application and how they want to react to DPI increases.
There may be options available in the applications to configure that.
