I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

From the information you provided, yes the GeForce GTX 980 will work very well with your MSI B85-G41 motherboard. You may want to keep an eye on your PSU though. 500W is the minimum system power requirement (according to the Nvidia website) to run the GeFore GTX 980. If you Overclock the GPU, it may run into some issues with the draw power coming from the PSU, and could cause it to go into an overload.

Hello,

I have an OptiPlex 9010 with onboard Display Port & VGA
I am trying to hookup a new 58 inch Samsung TV which only has 2 hdmi ports and composite & component.
I need both hdmi for laptop hookups so I can't use them for the Dell 9010.
I want to run VGA to either the composite or the component.
Will the onboard VGA do this?
I have a cable like this:

A:Does my OptiPlex 9010 video card support S-Video or Composite Video out through its VGA port

Quilty-MUN,The adapter in the image should work for your purpose connecting to the TV.

Hello and welcome to techspot!

Yes, we are going to need some more info from you. Is your system a "brand name" like dell or gateway? If so, then if you can give us your model number that will help.

If not, then download and install cpuZ : http://www.techspot.com/downloads/27-cpu-z.html

and tell us what it says for your mainboard information and graphics interface.

Is this a small form factor or a regular width case? It appears that you need an AGP compatible card but the form factor of the case will make a difference in the card you can get. Also, you might need to upgrade the power supply to match the graphics card but that depends on which card you get.

guess i'm wondering if he's still here, and if there are any other solutions to this problem. has anyone else has run into this problem?

I downloaded the latest driver for my SiS 6326 8MB AGP card. The driver supports DX 7 and supports dual video card display and adds OpenGL API support, all of this is described at the SiS web site.

But when I try to run either Quake 3 Arena or Half-Life, both OpenGL programs, it does not detect a OpenGL accelerator.

What is the problem here?

Hi all, first post ! I'm hoping for the best..

So here's the deal. My mom is using my old Dell Dim 4400 that I got in about 2001. Needless to say, it didn't have widescreen support. I just got her a new video card - nothing fancy - and even though it originally booted up, it destroyed everything. From what i gather, it's not compatible, and it seemed to somehow delete some system files (pci.sys, ntfs.sys, and I think one other..)

but NOW, my problem is that if I stick the xp disk in to repair it, I get "file setupdd.sys could not be loaded. The error code is 4." and that's it - no other options.

I took out the new video card, and everything is back the way it was originally. So now I can't boot up OR run recovery. Hell, I can't even reformat for that matter.

No idea what to do. Helps.

A:Can't Start Up [moved from video card support]

So if you remove the card, does the windows cd work then? Or, if you press F8 (while having the new card inserted), can you select Safe mode and start the computer? If so, boot Safe mode with network support, download the latest drivers from the manufacturer site and try again.

First off i have a COMPAQ SR1230NX stock and i put a RAEDON 9800 pro 128mb in it. I installed XP pro when i first got the video card and it worked fine no problems at all. Now i reinstalled XP pro for the 2nd time and problems just keep adding up. My computer will freeze if i leave it alone while im running processes. Also it will kick me out of a game every once in a while. I was reading a post about the same issue and supposively it was that the raedon video card i have requires 300watts of power and my computer only has 250watts. But the question i dont understand is why did i start having freezing issues and all this grief now instead of when i installed my first copy of XP pro. If anyone can help me please let me know wat i need to do. Thank you!

I need to upgrade to Win10. The current GeForce 7500 LE video in my HP Pavilion H8-1200z is not supported and Nvidia is not writing a new driver for it. I purchased a PowerColor Radeon HD5450 1GB which is supported by Win10. My system will not produce any video when powered on after the HD5450 video card is installed. There was a suggestion elsewhere on the web that I may need to update the MB BIOS to support this "supposedly" backward compatible PCIe card. There is no newer BIOS listed on the HP support site for this Gigabyte MB. Is there any way to get this video upgrade to work in my PC?

Yes, I am confused as to why it does not work either.  Possibly try a Geforce 5** series or 6**  series card that also supports Windows 10.  The actual card that started is problem is not a terrific performer, so maybe a lower card in the Geforce 5** or 6** series will do.

to enable aero to work properly ,the graphic card needs at least direct x 9 or higher, you're card unfotunately does not support that mode ,is the graphics onboard or in a slot? maybe advisable to invest in a newer card

I got this error after i used the troubleshooter in my laptop. I was surprised to find my screensaver not working with the message "the screensaver can't run because it requires a newer video card or one thats compatible with Direct3D". This error happened recently after I reinstalled my Windows 7 Home Premium OS into my laptop. Before this it was fine.

Here are my laptop specs:
Acer Aspire 4745G
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1
4GB DDR3 RAM
512MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470

I'm at a loss because I installed the latest ATI Catalyst Suite then it happened. I read other threads quite similar to this before but I can't seem to solve it on my own, especially when I'm not good with computers and stuff. Therefore, any help would be much appreciated.

The 5470 drivers should support Aero. Don't know why youre getting that error but you need to visit Acer and get your drivers for your video card there.

Check here Acer Support: Downloads & Support Documents - Notebook / Aspire / Aspire 4745G and get the first AMD VGA driver - 8.84.7.4

I just recently upgraded Windows 7 Ultimate from Vista Home premium. When I "upgraded" though I chose to completly reinstall my OS.

"The current video card may support Aero with a driver that is compliant with the Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM). Contact the manufacturer of your computer or video card for a WDDM-compatible driver."

and then when I try to troubleshoot it says "Video card driver doesn't support Aero effects" . I've tried the "Fix it" options, but that doesnt work.

I just don't see how transperancy would work on vista but not with windows 7... do I seriously have to purchase a new video card?

Hi and welcome to TSG.

If it is a desktop computer, you most likely need a newer and more powerful video controller card. If it is a laptop, you most likely need a new laptop.

Updating the video drivers may not help if the video hardware is old.

You have a DELL machine... which uses bad integrated video cards. It's probably not good enough.

go to http://cyri.systemrequirementslab.com/srtest/ and see if you your machine can run it. The game is in the drop down menu.

I recently purchased a used HP 2000 Notebook and performed a fresh install of windows 7 to wipe it. I did not test Aero prior to doing a fresh install but considering it came from the factory with Windows 7 on it I figured it should be able to support Aero. Is this not the case?
This is the message that appears when I try to troubleshoot my problem with Aero.

"The current video card may support Aero with a driver that is compliant with the Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM). Contact the manufacturer of your computer or video card for a WDDM-compatible driver."

I tried searching for solutions via google but nothing I have tried has worked for me. So far I have tried the following:

-Troubleshooting
-Windows updates
-Updating my driver
-Restarting Device manager

Hello I'm trying to install a new radeon vid card from Dell, following the instructions with the card I unistalled ( which doesn't make much sense since I can still use the onboard display) the old graphics card. Installed the new card, plugged in power plugged in one of the monitors and got nothing when booting into windows. I take the card out and I can still use the computer as if nothing has happened. Am I missing an uninstall, install step here or what? I'm no longer sure how to even boot windows 10 into safe mode. But not that would matter if I get no signal/display from the new card. Should I install the drivers from the accompaning CD from visiontek to get it work properly?
Thanks

Here is the card I want,
http://www.microcenter.com/product/...adeon_R7-260X_2GB_GDDR5_PCIe_30x26_Video_Card

I realize the PCIe 3.0 will fit to the motherboard, but I do not know if it will be compatible.

I do not understand the difference betweeen DDR3, DDR5 and GDDR5.

Thanks for help!

A:What video cards will support this?

Yes, those two items will be compatible with each other.

DDR3 & DDR5 are VRAM types and GDDR5 is a motherboard RAM identification.

For the future, you can go >>here<< and all your parts to see if there will be any issues with compatibility.

But keep in mind that there can be other compatibility issues such as the graphics card being too long to fit in the case.

Hi Troops (and thx Candy),

I just built a new unit. The motherboard does not have
on-board video support.

The hard drive that was added has the video drivers on it, and matches the card (nVidia G-fiorce 440). So I plugged the monitor into that. Go to boot up, and I have no video at all.

No chance to install the M-board software, or go to bios
because no picture. No other place to plug in the monitor.

As far as I can tell, the machine is booting up properly, but
I can't add the M-board software blind. Tried booting from
floppy - nuthin. Tried with M-board disk in CD-Rom, nuthin.

Help.... (eeek)

A:WTF?? MS not support its own NIC card?

open the computer and look at the card

check the actualchip manufacturer and serial numbers

It's unlikely that it's actually made my M$ and will probably be by realtek or someone similar

Then do a search for drivers for that chip

At a last resort try any 10/100 ethernet drivers, any basic set should work but without all the bells and whistles that M$ provide.

What OS are you using, If 98 onwards then the M$ standard ethernet drivers will work

I just upgraded to Windows Vista, and I think it may have done something to my graphics card settings.

I run the direct x diagnostic tool and click on display and it just comes up with blank under device name, and n/a for the rest of the stuff.

The thing is, my video on my computer keeps lagging and being choppy (when I play it from a file), and I'm also having trouble running a game (Warcraft 3) that used to run fine before I reinstalled windows, because it keeps saying direct x is not installed, when it is.

Could this be a result of the reinstallation? What should I do to fix it?

A:Graphics card support

I should add: I have no idea whether I have a graphics card or not, the only way I know to check is to go into said direct x diagnostics program. So I don't know whether it's that I have no video card or that the settings were lost in the reinstall. Either way, graphics stuff is not working right now that was working before. So I'm also wondering if there is an alternative way to check what video card I have/if I have one, to determine whether that is the problem or if its something else.

Basic question: Does Windows 7 have built in drivers for NIC cards? I am trying to install Win 7 to a barebones Shuttle K45 system. Win 7 installs seamlessly, but cannot connect to the internet. NIC card light is flashing but no driver. When I try to load drivers from the CD that came with the MB, it complains that it does not know the Win 7 OS so no drivers are installed.
Without internet access I can not send MS feedback or get updates.
I installed XP, but Win 7 will not do an upgrade to XP. XP works fine. Installed Vista Ultimate and it works fine, NIC and hardware is all OK with these two OS systems. It is just a problem with getting driver into WIN 7 that will allow a Generic Marvell Yukon Chipset based Ethernet Controller to communicate with Router.

Any ideas on how I can proceed so I can test Win 7 on this new machine?

After installing Windows 7, if it wont accept the installation automatically, extract the drivers off of the installer, of if applicable, download the zip version of it and then install the driver manually by going to device manager, right-clicking on your NIC and choose update driver and point to your extracted folder.

Hope it helps

I have a Pentium 4 motherboard (Asus P4T) that has an AGP 4X slot. I'd like to use this PC with an LCD monitor with a resolution of 1440X900 or perhaps 1680X1050.

Is there an AGP 4X video card out there that will support those resolutions? Preferably with VGA and DVI outputs.

Thanks.

Hello Community! Reading the RGS 7.2 manual, the section on Smart Card authentication implies that the feature is restricted to Windows receivers. Does the sender have to be a Windows system too? For example, could I use a Windows receiver with a supported smart card reader to forward that information to a Linux sender? Thanks!

Hi

I'm buying a new computer with a geforce 8800gtx.

The thing is: In the info about the gfx card it says that it supports "these resolutions: xxxxXxxxx, xxxxXxxxx" but not the resolution my screen is going to have (1680x1050)

Will it still support it?

I'm getting the BFG 8800gtx OC2

The closest in the list is 1600x1200
Thänk you!

A:Video Driver doesn't support Direct X

Sorry to say, not many laptops have upgradeable video subsystems, you'd have to do some serious research, or call the manufacturer to find out. Most of the time the video "card" is built into the motherboard in the laptop and can't be replaced.

On the other hand, there shouldn't be any reason you can't "install" DX9, you should be able to do that, even if your card can't take full advantage of it.

So it may be you need to find a different media creator? Or look into the video upgrade option, if possible. But nothing should be preventing you from installing DX9.

Sorry if this is redundant, I didn't read the "old thread". Getting late you know

cheers

For some reason I can't get IE 11 and MS Edge browsers to play html5 videos. When I go to youtube.com/html5 or html5test.com it shows that video element is not supported (even though those browsers should support it). I have tried everything, reset all settings, even reinstalled ms edge through powershell, installed media feature pack and still no change. I guess there is some setting that I am not aware of, but after searching internet for hours did not find anything. Any ideas why video (and audio too) element might be not supported at all for Egde and IE?

could anyone recommend any pci video cards that support AREO/GLASS

ATI or Nvidia are preferd choices

im not a gamer s i dont really need anything powerful

ive tried newegg but they only have Nvidia the ATI cards are all dx8 -.-'

if i can git a variety of choices at less then $50
less then $30 would be preferred

i would be very grateful

A:pci video cards that support AREO/GLASS

Newegg has a large variety of PCI cards.

Here they are, cheapest to most expensive.

Newegg.com - Computer Hardware,Video Cards & Video Devices,Desktop Graphics / Video Cards,PCI

You generally want something with DirectX 10.1. Any that do that are guaranteed to be good for Aero. DX9 is good too, but I see no sense in that.
So I advise DX10.1.

Have a look at this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814187041

A:Are there video cards that support or can run games in 3840x2160 (4k)

I know that the Nvidia 780s support 4K, so would guess that anything newer would too. AMD no idea, but I expect that a visit to their web site would confirm which cards do.

Dont know which card you are currently using, so no idea on that one, but yes, HDMI cable works. I originally used my Displayport, but there were issues, mainly that I could only run at 2/4K at 30hz- this was not an issue with HDMI.

4K you tubes- if your screen is at 1920, thats th emax resolution you will see. The picture is dependent on output res, not the monitor res.

Hi I have the HP Pavilion 15-n204tx notebook, Model # F6C43PA which currently supports 2.4 G.Hz WLAN frequency only. This came originally with Ubuntu and I later upgraded it to a Win 10 64-bit version and have been using it since with Windows Right now, I am looking at upgrading the WLAN capability to support 2.4 G.Hz as well as 5 G.Hz frequencies. However, I am not sure if the WLAN module on the notebook will support it or not and I also need to know which part will be able to do it. I checked the User Guide and Service Maintainence guides yet, I am not able to confirm if the model supports the higher frequency and also, I need to know which HP part will help me achieve the desired result. Any guidence or help will be much appreciated.

I'm looking for a new graphics card. In the reviews I've been looking at I see that a lot say they will become obsolete when Windows Vista is released, as they do not support DirectX10. Is this a bad time to upgrade my graphics card without spending a hefty amount? I really don't want to spend over $200. However, I've been needing an upgrade for quite some time, and I would like to ypgrade soon. All these reviews make it sound like I'll need another upgrade very shortly.

I should also mention I use my computer a lot for gaming.

Are there any AGP graphics cards within $200 that will support DirectX 10 within $200 (or neat that)? If not, is it worth upgrading to a card that doesn't support DirectX 10 right now?

Was looking on Newegg.com for graphics cards and noticed that they list the version of direct x each card supports. My question is, if it says that that particular card supports direct x 7, does that mean that it won't run in my system if I have direct x 9 installed?

A:Direct X version support for GFX CARD

No, what it means is that the card is capable of the "cutting edge" technology of DirectX 7. So whatever was the latest graphics craze of the day when DX7 was around, that card is capable of it. It does run under DX9 just fine, you just don't get fancy DX9 effects that Radeon 9xxx and GeForce FX series cards and up can handle.

Welcome to the forum!!
Win 7 should work fine but you won't be able to use Aero. That needs at least 128mb of dedicated graphics.

A:Which Graphics Card would my PC (support) be able to handle?

Upgrading from a GTX 260, I'm not sure I would select a 660 or 760. Unless I was going for DirectX 11 capability. The 670 requires a 500W power supply and the 770 requires a 600W power supply. So while DirectX 11 would be an upgrade, if you are wanting a large performance increase, you will need a larger power supply than 460W. Judging by the dimensions of the GTX 260, I would say the longer graphics cards (11 inches) would physically fit. Speaking of the GTX 260, nVidia specifies a 500W is required. I know the specifications allow for headroom, so it is your call whether you want to risk a card that calls for 500W.
