Hosting several sites on one account

Q: Hosting several sites on one account

Hi!

First of all, I dont know if this is the right spot to ask about hosting, but since Techspot has helped me with a lot of computer related problems, I thought Id give it a try...

Anyways, Im about to buy a hosting plan from Hostgator, but I want to use one account to host at least 3 different sites (top domains, like firstpage.com, secondpage.com and thirdpage.com). I know the reselling account would be the most effective, but I dont need to have a different cPanel for each user.

Can this be done with a Baby plan? Im going to buy domain names from another company, but I guess that doesnt matter. Im new to all this hosting stuff, so any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

that's all up to the hosting site policies - - don't hold your breath.

the Apache2 web server does this with <VirtualHost: ipaddress:80>

Hi guys,

does anyone know of a video hosting site will can take WMV videos? Most sites i tried change it to a flash file which is not what i am looking for. Thanks

regards
tkh

A:video hosting sites

Are you looking for a video hosting site to stream the video? If you just want people to be able to download the WMV file directly to their hard drive, then www.filefront.com is a great site for uploading files. I believe the maximum file size limit is one gig.

If you want a streaming site...YouTube is great. Or is that what you meant by "changing to a flash file"?

I'm looking for a photo hosting site where each member of a "group" can have his/her own gallery/compartment/whatever. The goal will be for each member to post one photo per week (more if they want) to demonstrate what they're doing, where they are, what's on their mind, etc.. I tried Flickr, but all photos go into one huge "gallery." There seems to be no way to organize by member or by week. It was suggested to have each member start his/her own discussion group, but a discussion group is not a photo gallery.

Does anyone know of a photo hosting site where this can be accomplished?

I dont know whats happening..my computer cant seem to be able to uplaod fiesl to file hosting site. My file is about 190Mb..iam uploading the video to sites like uploading, file-up, gigeshare etc..they all suffer errors or jsut freezes half way or 25% or something or cant conenct (as if gigeshare). This is driving me nuts..does anyone know what would the problem likely be and how to resolve it. And firewall is off btw. Iam using nod32 as antivirus that should screw up the comp? i have tried a ad-ware removal and that doesnt solve the problem either.

A:Please help me with uploading files to hosting sites...

Have you succeeded before?

Evenings and weekends the internet is more congested than week days and I suspect most non-business servers are more busy.

Have you tested your internet bandwidth in general? Is it up to par? I ask, because while my cable service is giving my normal service right now, some weekends I'm getting only about 1/3 expected download bandwidth.

What could cause this? I have pictures posted at several of those free picture hosting sites. All of a sudden I can't up load more pictures. Process starts and after a few minutes the up load aborts and I get a message saying the web page can not be found. Always has worked very well on Photojo, Webshots, aol pictures and just tried photobucket.com Same results on every site. What do I need to change or re-do on this computer to get this working again? Thanks, ~Okie~

I need a good Web storage / hosting site for uploading photos so I can then link to them via a URL. Hopefully it will have a security feature where I can / can not allow other folks to view the photos.

Want it to be simple, hopefully the more space the better. Looking to avoid sites that want to tangle you up with all sorts of other involvements. I don't need or want all sorts of whistles or bells.

My brother is using PICASA

http://picasa.google.com/intl/en_us/web/learn_more_picasa.html

Any thoughts on this site, is it good. Any other sites to look at??? Which ones probably give the most storage room. Just got a new camera, getting a lot more photos to stick somewhere.

A:Trouble connecting to hosting account.

Hi,

You say that your firewall and security are OFF, I would strongly suggest you turn them back ON. As far as I am aware, and in my experience, it makes no difference to the SP3 upgrade if they are on.

You say that you think this may be connected with a failed attempt to upgrade to SP3. How did you do this upgrade ? By the Windows Upgrade system, or did you download the update first and then install it ?  Again, while I have done it both ways, I have seen reports on the forums that there can be problems and failures with the Upgrade method. Since MS allow you to download this update - it's about 250 MB - this is generally considered the best way to do it. I have my own copy on a CD, but a folder on your hard drive or a memory stick would work just as well. Then just run the complete file as an install.

Once you have got SP3 installed, I would try re-installing my FTP software.

Best of luck,

Chris Cosgrove

Continual prompts for name/password are generally caused by cookies not being allowed. If using IE, add the site to trusted zone and under privacy add the site to always allow cookies.

Hope this helps.

Hello all,
Working with a client who wishes to have a laptop usable by both staff and management at his restaurant. He wants the management to have an unrestricted Administrator account, but wants the staff to have a restricted user account such that they
can only use the web browsers to navigate to three specific sites. (btw, the laptop is on a domain) Have been doing research on this for hours now and can't seem to find a solution to what should be a simple problem. All the software suggested costs money,
which the owner is not interested in. Any help?

A:Possible Breach on Godaddy Hosting Serves (Windows Shared Hosting Accounts)

I did call tech support.  They are looking into this.  THey feel that this was most likly a FTP hack.  It certainlty possible.  But what concerns me is that if this was a FTP hack then wouldnt other hosting sites be affected?  So far all the sites with this inflated HTML hyperlink data are all coming up as Godaddy Hosting IPS's  Even more interesting is that they are all so far the IIS7 Servers (by using mydnstools).

So FTP hacking????  Perhaps...... but am I the only one to think that this is a possible breach?

When User Do Account collect sites ever your you make a search Do sites ever collect your User Account on the Google site for example they store your IP address cookie info and user agent string correct I was just thinking the other day why don't sites collect your User Account name They would be able to perfect their advertising techniques even further if they could get the username and IP together Then I asked myself were they possibly already doing this Especially if I had something like Google Toolbar installed could it have possibly been relaying my search queries to its servers with my user account name attatched to the searches history etc Reason I ask is because I used to use my full name in the user account I would hate the thought of having my full name attatched to some server logs somewhere with all my searches and history EDIT When I say User Account I mean the account you sign into your computer on not your site specific usernames For example my admin account on Windows is kurt Would sites like Google or YT know that

A:Do sites ever collect your User Account

If privacy is your concern use a private VPN to surf the web anonymously, and hide your IP address.getting a new IP address so that nobody can discover your identify through it
Protect against snoopers, data miners and privacy intruder entities
Also no monitoring of your online activities.
Make it impossible to identify the type of traffic or protocol you are using even for your ISP.

I'm somewhat OCD and I don't like and account personal info Do sites cookies to save your it when sites save information to my accounts my name that I cannot control I was wondering when I Do sites save cookies and personal info to your account create a windows live msn email log in does it save information such as broswer i'm using addons past sites how I got there Identified with my account or is it all anonymously You know how sites track cookies if I were logged in would it be linked to my account in any way Like saved forever Heres an extract from Microsoft's privacy statement quot We collect additional information about your interaction with Microsoft sites and services without identifying you as an individual For example we receive certain standard information that your browser sends to every website you visit such as your IP address browser type and language access times and referring Web site addresses We also use Web site analytics tools on our sites to retrieve information from your browser including the site you came from the search engine s and the keywords you used to find our site the pages you view within our site your browser add-ons and your browser's width and height quot Just need my accounts to be fully somewhat default information from cookies are they saved unique to my ID or are they just anonymously saved to a server I'm not very knowledgeable about information sites collect and how it's saved so if anyone could enlighten me I'd be greateful I know this is a weird post sorry

A:Do sites save cookies and personal info to your account

Welcome
Yes many sites save cookies. This is one of the worst now, sign in and delete them all.
Then download and use ccleaner, to delete all cookies, so you cant be tracked.

Most cookies are anymous, Google has a record of all your searches, I dumped mine.

I have a Vista Home Premium SP2 32-bit machine. I use IE 8 in my admin account and have had no problems with browsing websites. When I switch to my standard user account and use IE 8, some sites just don't render correctly (see attached screenshots). I've tried almost every suggestion I've come across in researching this issue, to no avail, including uninstalling IE 8 and using IE 7, reinstalling IE 8, compatibility view, add-ons disabled, mtu router tweaks, disabling anti-virus. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Sites in the screenshots are www.apple.com, www.facebook.com, and www.veoh.com.

BTW, I use Firefox mostly but need IE working for testing purposes as I'm a developer. Thanks.

Are there any IE addons used? what abt AV? Im feeling like its a config problem since admin doesn't have it and std user does. just the one std user has it? you could create a temp user and see if they have it. If so it might be some kind of permissions problem. Let us know

Sometimes when viruses are cleaned out the process damages system files etc too. I'd suggest starting with a sfc and then if no go run a 'repair' (this installs os over itself and retains data but you'll have to re-do updates).

I have IE(latest version) Firefox(3.07) and Google Chrome. When i go on Firefox, or IE, or GC, and go to either Yahoo or Google search engine, and search something, and CLICK the link, it redirects me to random websites, usually YellowPages. If i copy and paste the link off of Google and put it in my address bar, it takes me to the site just fine. I contacted my ISP for assistance, and they decided that it wasn't a virus. They had me Reset IE, and IE works again, with searching. Google Chrome works again. But, Mozilla doesn't They had me uninstall Mozilla, and reinstall it, and it was still the same problem. Can anyone help me? My computer HAS been going a little bit slower than usual, so i hope it isn't a virus. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

A:Search Engines Redirect me to Spam Sites and Random Sites

You should take the system through the Virus and Malware Cleaning, attach the three logs and get help with the entries.

Instructions here: http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic58138.html

Redirects are usually due to malware.

It first started when I kept getting this javascript error every time a popup would come up. I tried to search the error code in google and found out that every time I click a link, I get redirected.

I also don't know if this is related, but I have bellsouth internet and on a regular basis I have a ping of around 90, but recently, it's been about 2000 with a jitter of around 1500. However, when I'm in a skype call with a friend from Cali., it goes back down to 90 and stays that way til we hang up. I don't know if it's related or not, but if it's not, I just really need the first problem fixed.

I have been having problems with my internet ever since I was infected from an attack java ad on a website The attack left a few adware and malware problems that were easily wiped with Spybot and MalwareBytes The only remaining problem left is every time I search from google and click a search result the result redirects to a reported attack site an ad site that relates to my search results and Google sites sites search results ad attack to redirecting or Google search results redirecting to attack sites and ad sites simply a javascript that my MSE active scan detects as an attack and is cleaned I have found that it happens way less often when Google search results redirecting to attack sites and ad sites I right click and open in a new tab but it still happens leaving me frustrated as I have to click a search result several times to get to what I want I have tried to use Bing too and the same problem happens One thing I have noticed that might help is the fact that sometimes when my internet is going slow I can catch a url after clicking a search result with an ip address It leads me to think that my results are being proxied to the resulting attack sites Please help me as soon as someone can this is quite a nuisance that I fear is slowly degrading my already degrading computer DDS Ver - - - NTFSx Run by Dylan at on Sat Internet Explorer BrowserJavaVersion Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition GMT - AV Microsoft Security Essentials Enabled Updated EDB FA - B - AFA- C D- CCA Running Processes C WINDOWS system svchost -k DcomLaunch svchost exe c Program Files Microsoft Security Client Antimalware MsMpEng exe C WINDOWS System svchost exe -k netsvcs C WINDOWS system svchost exe -k WudfServiceGroup C WINDOWS Explorer EXE svchost exe svchost exe C WINDOWS System WLTRYSVC EXE C WINDOWS System bcmwltry exe C WINDOWS System svchost exe -k netsvcs C WINDOWS system spoolsv exe svchost exe C Program Files Belkin Router Setup and Monitor BelkinService exe C WINDOWS System svchost exe -k Akamai C Program Files Common Files Apple Mobile Device Support AppleMobileDeviceService exe C Program Files Bonjour mDNSResponder exe C WINDOWS System svchost exe -k HTTPFilter C Program Files Java jre bin jqs exe C Program Files Malwarebytes Anti-Malware mbamservice exe C WINDOWS System svchost exe -k HPZ C WINDOWS System svchost exe -k HPZ C WINDOWS system svchost exe -k imgsvc C WINDOWS system wuauclt exe C Program Files SigmaTel C-Major Audio WDM stsystra exe C Program Files Synaptics SynTP SynTPEnh exe C WINDOWS system WLTRAY exe C Program Files Adobe Reader Reader Reader sl exe C Program Files Common Files Java Java Update jusched exe C Program Files iTunes iTunesHelper exe C Program Files Microsoft Security Client msseces exe C WINDOWS system ctfmon exe C WINDOWS system rundll exe C Program Files uTorrent uTorrent exe C Program Files Windows Media Player WMPNSCFG exe C Program Files iPod bin iPodService exe C Program Files Mozilla Firefox firefox exe C Documents and Settings Dylan Desktop dds scr Pseudo HJT Report uInternet Settings ProxyOverride lt local gt uInternet Settings ProxyServer http uWindows Load c docume dylan locals temp csrss exe BHO Adobe PDF Link Helper df c-e ad- -a -fa c ebdc - c program files common files adobe acrobat activex AcroIEHelperShim dll BHO Spybot-S amp D IE Protection - f - d - - d f - c progra spybot SDHelper dll BHO C C A-E - b - D - CECB - No File BHO Windows Live Sign-in Helper d - c - abf- ecc- c - c program files common files microsoft shared windows live WindowsLiveLogin dll BHO Java Plug-In SSV Helper dbc -a - b-bc - c c c a - c program files java jre bin jp ssv dll BHO JQSIEStartDetectorImpl Class e e f - ce- c -bc -eabfe f c - c program files java jre lib deploy jqs ie jqs plugin dll TB D C F- A- -A AD- D - No File uRun ctfmon exe c windows system ctfmon exe uRun MSNHelppnp rundll exe quot c documents and settings dylan local settings application data agereapiport MSNHelppnp dll quot mciapiHelper kbdNetPort uRun... I have the newest Internet Explorer and im using Vista. I play a game called Travian and I want to use a 'graffic pack' which loads from my PC.

I had to add the site to my 'trusted sites' for it to work, and it does now.

The only thing is that when I open the site it opens a new IE and loads it in there. As it is the only site in my trusted sites I cant load any other sites with that IE, so I need to go to a different one if that makes sence.

How can I make it so that my trusted sites open with my non-tusted sites (using tabs)?

A:Solved: How can I make trusted sites and normal sites open together?

Set your tab preferences in IE, otherwise, try Firefox and set those tab preferences.

I have my Firefox preferences for Tabs set to never open in a new window, and always open at least one tab:
New pages should be opened in: a new tab rather than a new window
Always show the tab bar
When I open a link in a new tab, switch to it immediately
Warn me when closing multiple tabs
Warn me when opening multiple tabs might slow down Firefox

This is one of the most difficult problems I ve faced with Windows MSIE will not bring up google com It works fine on Bing com Yahoo com etc I can go to most any site and it works EXCEPT certain pages on sites okay. show MSIE not SSL won't yahoo 8 Most okay, non-SSL Google but sites bing, the MS website MSIE 8 won't show Google but bing, yahoo okay. Most non-SSL sites okay, SSL sites not google com etc But MSIE 8 won't show Google but bing, yahoo okay. Most non-SSL sites okay, SSL sites not if I try to go to a ssl site MSIE 8 won't show Google but bing, yahoo okay. Most non-SSL sites okay, SSL sites not https it will either time out or only show the text and nothing else or just give an error msg that the page does not exist Windows Update also fails gives error number x EE I have scanned for viruses using the MS safety scanner Forticlient and Mcfee all report nothing AVG does report hooks into atapi and other files I read as much as I could on these notices and most people online felt these were false positives Since everyone other program has not alerted to these I have not been too concerned I have tried every solution listed here http support microsoft com kb except no I reset MSIE to all the defaults no diff I tried to reinstall MSIE by going to the Ms website with Opera which also works fine and downloading the stand alone version of MSIE and it installed but give several errors and rebooted automatically When I ran the sfc scannow it did it s thing had me put the CD in the drive and copied files over about of the way it said I had the wrong windows CD The computer originally came with Windows XP Media Edition sp and I had upgraded it to Sp The CD I was using was Widows XP pro with SP from another computer Should be fine but I put the SP disc in that originally came with the computer Dell and it said it was the wrong CD so I put the SP CD back in and I hit try again fail I hit try again fail I hit try again success then fail hit try again success then fail did this for about minutes it d go and then it d quit etc I figured the CD must be damaged but it did complete Rebooted but nothing changed That s when I tied to run Windows update and got the failed msg above Firefox and Opera work fine But I prefer MSIE Does anyone have any help they can offer on this The only other issue with the computer is that my desktop icons always align themselves to the grid regardless if I turn it off or not If I create a new user it works fine Just my user account seems to be messed up on that issue Otherwise the computer has been good I ve been behind a fortigate firewall for over a year although I m not sure it was configured correctly but that s another issue What really confuses me is that google com will not come up in MSiE at all I can see how the SSL thing might have an issue but google com Would pay anyone money donate to the site etc if you can help Thanks nbsp

A:MSIE 8 won't show Google but bing, yahoo okay. Most non-SSL sites okay, SSL sites not

Okay, I solved one part of this myself. I noticed on MS answers that someone said to make sure SSL 2 was checked under advanced. I had reset all parameters in MSIE to default, so I just assumed it would be. But I checked and found it was not. So I enabled it and so far, good signs. google.com redirects to https://www.google.com and it works now.

However other secure sites are having some trouble with images/graphics. The page starts to load but does not complete sometimes.

On one of them I got an error msg. I've attached a screen capture.
And windows update still does not work.

Hi all,

My PC appears to be infected, but nothing is detecting it, including Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware.

I'm experiencing tons of redirects on site loads, e.g. typing in a site into the address bar, Google searches, etc. as well as inappropriate popup ads.

Could someone please assist me in some next steps as to how to remove these redirect attacks I'm experiencing?

Thanks -

Best,

Anthony

Quite often when I click a link in a returned search result from a website like www.whitepages.com it takes me to an unwanted and unrelated site. I have read somethings online about a Google redirect virus but I am not seeing this happen while doing a Google search. It seems to happen when doing a search or sort on a website and then the results are returned and when I go to click on one of the results I get sent to a page I do not want. I read on a forum that DDS, Gmer, and Attach.txt files can be helpful to someone who reads this. Another site this happens regularly on is www.adam4adam.com
Thank you for your help.

We need to disable Spybot S&D's "TeaTimer"TeaTimer works by preventing ANY changes to the system. It will attempt to undo any fixes we run, because it blocks these fixes from running. In order to safeguard your system from problems that can be brought on by a half finished fix, we need to disable TeaTimer. We can reenable it when we're done if you like.Open SpyBot Search and Destroy by going to Start -> All Programs -> Spybot Search and Destroy -> Spybot Search and Destroy. If prompted with a legal dialog, accept the warning.Click and then on "Advanced Mode"
You may be presented with a warning dialog. If so, press Click on Click on Uncheck this checkbox:
Close/Exit Spybot Search and DestroyPlease download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (v1.38) and save it to your desktop.alternate download link 1alternate download link 2If you have a previous version of MBAM, remove it via Add/Remove Programs and download a fresh copy.Make sure you are connected to the Internet.Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application. When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings. When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:Update Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareLaunch Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareThen click Finish.MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan.If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself.Press the OK button to close that box and continue. If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install. Alternatively, you can update through MBAM's interface from a clean computer, copy the definitions (rules.ref) located in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from that system to a usb stick or CD and then copy it to the infected machine. On the Scanner tab:Make sure the "Perform Quick Scan" option is selected. Then click on the Scan button. If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button. The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient. When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.Back at the main Scanner screen:Click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad. The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply and exit MBAM.Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you may be asked to reboot your computer so it can proceed with the disinfection process. Regardless if prompted to restart the computer or not, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot normally (not into safe mode) will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware. MBAM may "make changes to your registry" as part of its disinfection routine. If using other security programs that detect registry changes (ie Spybot's Teatimer), they may interfere or alert you after scanning with MBAM. Please temporarily disable such programs or permit them to allow the changes.http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/114351/how-to-temporarily-disable-your-anti-virus-firewall-and-anti-malware-programs/

A:My PC won't let me go to certain sites like paypal or anti-virus sites, Malware?

It sounds like something "nasty" has infected your computer. I wouldn't advise accessing bank sites and other confidential sites right now.

Go here and click the green icon to download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.39. After it's installed, run its update function to insure that the latest definition files are installed. Run a "quick scan" with it. When it's finished, select and allow it to fix everything it found. Restart your computer if prompted to. Return here to your thread, then copy-and-paste the scan log here.

Hi there I'm not sure if I'm posting to the right place so apologies if there is somewhere better for this All of a sudden there are some websites I'm having real problems accessing I access of (or sites) [SOLVED] sites certain Can't parts initially thought that it might be a DNS thing but I'm finding that I am having issues with some pages on a site but not others And on some pages there are only some elements I can't access e g [SOLVED] Can't access certain sites (or parts of sites) some images will load and others won't I first noticed this in Firefox so tried clearing all my cookies history etc but still no luck [SOLVED] Can't access certain sites (or parts of sites) I then [SOLVED] Can't access certain sites (or parts of sites) tried other browsers and find I have the same problem in IE and Chrome We have three computers in the house running Vista and one XP My machine is a Vista one The other Vista machine and the XP machine are not experiencing this problem at all All machines are sharing the same wireless router I'm running Norton and tried turning off the firewall and seeing if that fixed it but no luck I've run a virus scan - nothing One example of a page I cannot access is www hostgator com shared shtml I can access www hostgator com but not www hostgator com shared shtml Another is curegoutpainnow com which is a wordpress site On this one I can load the page slowly but not the header image But if I load the admin panel or go to curegoutpainnow com blog I have no problems at all I'm really stumped I can't understand what might be happening Anybody have any ideas Thanks Brett Update I had a closer look at curegoutpainnow com It's only the header image that I can't load A file called header jpg I can browse to the images folder and open any image in that folder except the header I've cleared the cache but something won't allow me to load that file I'm guessing something similar has happened with the other pages I'm having trouble with Very odd

A:[SOLVED] Can't access certain sites (or parts of sites)

Yes it does seem very odd.
Try clearing out your files with CCleaner, and have them work on clearing out your browsers. Also when you load the page, press Ctrl + F5, to force reload the page from scratch.

When you try to access the pages you can't reach, what kind of error are you faced with? Maybe a timeout one, or page unreachable.

Hi, veganrich Welcome. Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here or HereDouble Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish. If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan. The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient. When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.Extra Note:If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediatly. Please download ComboFix from Here or Here to your Desktop.**Note: In the event you already have Combofix, this is a new version that I need you to download. It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**Please, never rename Combofix unless instructed.Close any open browsers.Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.
-----------------------------------------------------------Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan. They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".Click on this link to see a list of programs that should be disabled. The list is not all inclusive. If yours is not listed and you don't know how to disable it, please ask.
-----------------------------------------------------------Close any open browsers. WARNING: Combofix will disconnect your machine from the Internet as soon as it startsPlease do not attempt to re-connect your machine back to the Internet until Combofix has completely finished. If there is no internet connection after running Combofix, then restart your computer to restore back your connection.-----------------------------------------------------------Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts. If you receive a message that Combofix has detected the presence of rootkit activity and needs to reboot, kindly write down on paper the list of files present in the message before continuing, and post it in your next reply.Install the Recovery Console upon request. When finished, it will produce a report for you. Please post the "C:\ComboFix.txt" along with a new HijackThis log for further review.**Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall**

Hello and Welcome to TSF.

Please Subscribe to this Thread to get immediate notification of replies as soon as they are posted. To do this click Thread Tools, then click Subscribe to this Thread. Make sure it is set to Instant notification by email, then click Add Subscription.

Please note that the forum is very busy and if I don't hear from you within three days this thread will be closed.

------------------------------------------------------

It appears that you have two antivirus programs installed and running, AVG and Microsoft Forefront Client Security. While this may seem like better protection, they can actually conflict with one another and cause system instability or even system hangs. Please choose one to keep and uninstall the other via Add or Remove Programs in your Control Panel.

------------------------------------------------------

Please note that these fixes are not instantaneous. Most infections require more than one round to properly eradicate.

Please stay with me until given the 'all clear' even if symptoms seemingly abate.

Kindly follow my instructions and please do no fixing on your own or running of scanners unless requested by a helper.

------------------------------------------------------

Please visit this webpage for download links, and instructions for running ComboFix:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/comb...o-use-combofix

* Ensure you have disabled all antivirus and antimalware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

Please post the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply for further review.

A:Help! browser redirects to porn sites and ad sites

Hi LadyYuna and welcome to the forum.
You have a small adware problem which shouldn't be too difficult to clear up.

Re-configure Windows Explorer to Show Hidden Files & Folders.
Ensure you're familiar with restarting in Safe Mode.
Step # 1

Please download and install SUPERAntiSpyware Home Edition (free)
Once installed, update the program definitions when prompted.
Click the "Preferences" button and then the "Scanning Control" tab.
Under "Scanner Options" make sure the following are checked/selected:
1>> Close browsers before scanning.
2>> Scan for tracking cookies.
3>> Terminate memory threats before quarantining.
4>> Ignore System Restore/Volume Information on ME and XP.
Deselect all other scanning options.
Close SUPERAntiSpyware for use later.
Step # 2

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.

Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
If you use Firefox browser
Click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
If you use Opera browser
Click Opera at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.
Step # 3

Reboot into SAFE MODE now please.

Scan with HijackThis and place a checkmark in the boxes before the following entries:-

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: ADSTechnology module - {831CBAC0-8283-4653-9D81-FEB9F3F6E47C} - C:\Program Files\ADSTechnology\ADSTechnology.dll
O2 - BHO: ActivationManager module - {86A44EF7-78FC-4e18-A564-B18F806F7F56} - C:\Program Files\ActivationManager\ActivationManager.dll

Close all other windows except HijackThis and click the "Fix Checked" button.
Step # 4

Next, search for the following folders in bold using Windows Explorer:

C:\Program Files\ADSTechnology\
C:\Program Files\ActivationManager\

*Once found, right click and select delete.
Step # 5

Open SUPERAntiSpyware and click the "Scan your computer" button.
On the left, select "C:\Fixed Drive".
On the right, under "Complete Scan", choose "Perform Complete Scan".
Click "Next" to start the scan. Please be patient while it scans your computer.
After the scan is complete a summary box will appear. Click "OK".
Make sure everything in the white box has a check next to it, then click "Next".
After quarantining anything found, you may be prompted to reboot, click "Yes".
Paste the scan log in your next reply (Preferences > Statistics/Logs tab > double-click SUPERAntiSpyware Scan Log)

Step # 6

Please post the following in your next reply:
SUPERAntiSpyware log.
New HijackThis log.

i am able to host on wc3 yet many ppl complain that there are uncommon lag spikes...
i was wondering what the problem was.

i have a belkin F5D7231-4 router i have ports 6112 - 6119 open in tcp and udp
i also have my firewall down

does anyone know the solution so that no more ppl experience lag while i host?
thank you in advance

A:WC3 lag while hosting

This could be due to many reasons. The most common would be your computer is too slow to handle a server or your internet is too slow to handle it. Do they get good pings? What is your upstream/downstream? Do you notice any slowness in game (assuming that you're playing on the same computer that you're hosting on)?

so do i need this service on my XP Pro Slipstream'd disc?

A:Do i need IIS? I have no FTP nor am i hosting.

Nope, IIS is a webserver. You only need it if you are going to run a web service, and there are better alternatives to IIS if that is what you are trying to do.

I don't know if this is the right forum, and sorry if this has been said before, but I'm in need of a reliable web host with the following criteria:

At *LEAST* 500mb of space
Around 50 gig transfer (I could go lower, but not much)
Unlimited subdomains (If it has other good options, I could go as low as 100)
Unlimited emails
Cpanel Control Panel
Latest PHP, Latest MySQL, Latest Apache, CGI (and all the other goodies)

Plus some of the other basic features that most hosts provide, which I won't need to repeat..I need to get this for preferably 8$ a month or lower, but I'll go as high as 15$. Thanks in advance.

I used to use MVPS Hosts, but the last couple times installed really not working correctly (including now - getting ready to uninstall it).

I was wondering if there is a host program that will run with a DNS client (I want to use the comodo DNS)or if all conflict?

Also, is there an easier program to use than MVPS? One that isn't going to cause problems.

Thank you

A:Hosting....

You don't have to disable your firewall, you just have to make a tiny hole in it for web and possibly a little bit bigger one for FTP traffic.

For web, you open TCP port 80 for incoming traffic and install a webserver. I strongly advise against anything MS.

For FTP, you have to open at least incoming TCP port 21 and install a FTP server. Plenty of free ones out there. This is assuming your firewall allows all outgoing connections.

If you don't make any big blunders during setup you should be quite safe unless you expect some determined attacks by possible enemies or competitors.

Hi All,

Need some suggestions please. Am getting ready to take over a dog rescue website and would like the names of some reputable companies that will be able to host my site fairly inexpensively. Also, I'll need room to expand small pix into larger ones so that may or may not be a consideration.

Also, can you recommend the best and or easiest way to set up FTP so I can upload pix coming from another computer? I am using Windows XP Home version and have a Pentium 4 with 240 Ghz and 256 RAM.

Thanks very much!

I want to host my website through my own server in my house, but I have Comcast, and they prohibit use of public servers on their service. Does anyone know any ISPs that allow you to run public servers?

A:Hosting a Web Server

Generally speaking, most home ISPs will not allow you to run a public server. They will usually require that you upgrade to the more expensive business connection. However, you do generally get the benefit of a faster connection and a static IP address as well. You may also get an increased upload speed (so you can serve files faster). There are some exceptions to this. I have in the past been able to get permission from Comcast (several years ago) to run my own home server, on the basis that it was for school (I was studying Network Administration at the time) and it was subject to bandwidth and content restrictions.

At work, we do have Comcast Business, and we are able to run a public server. It costs about double what a home connection would cost.

Often the best option is to get inexpensive web hosting from a place like godaddy, which gives you the ability to have a fairly decent amount of control over your server, while being less expensive than getting business hosting.

I am considering building a new website and have found a domain name that is available. I know very little about registering and hosting websites and getting pages linked to domain names and hosting. Is there a place where I can learn

a, Once I have made my pages look as they should, how to link to the domain name
b, Once this is done, is it possible to get it hosted by the same people with whom the domain name is registered or is this yet another process?
c, Any good domain hosts / how to make sure that my site is searchable on Google and all the other big web search engines
d, any caveats - security issues to beware of / prevention of hackers etc.

Thanks for your time in reading and any constructive replies gratefully received.

regards
rraa

A:Domain Name And Hosting

a.
b. Many webhosting compagnies also offer domain name registration, so I all you would have to do to host your site is to sign up with one of these companies, upload your website to their servers and select your domain name.
c. Not really sure wich hosts to suggest, try searching here or I am sure someone else will come and give some suggestions,
d. If you are using a hosting company, hackers and stuff aren't really an issue for you, they have their own firewalls and stuff to prevent this, it's pretty much their responsibility.

Hi!

I want to upload files on the internet by FTP for FREE!
Is there anywhere where I can have about 20Gb for FREE?

I have signed up with MediaMax and I get 25Gbs FREE which is quite amazing. I can't FTP that at the moment because they are having a problem with their server and I have emailed them.

Thanks

A:Free Ftp Hosting

I use Xdrive. It is only 5gb but they do not have a bandwidth quota. From what I see with MediaMax it would take 2 years to use the full 25gb. They only allow you 1gb a month of bandwidth.

can people post some FREE filehosting sites here that could host large files?

some files i am interesting in hosting are the following sizes...
297 Megabytes
297 Megabytes
636 Megabytes
299 Megabytes
179 Megabytes
92.7 Megabytes

A:File Hosting

I doubt that. Those files are big. If you do find one, or more that will, post them here, because I'm sure others would love to know about them.If you're talking about totally FREE.... then you will needto use TOR/Privoxy. It will do that for you. Just set up a server on your end, and you can host whatever you want on the Internet, all for FREE.... and all anonymously. You can find TOR/Privoxy here:Tor: anonymity onlinehttp://tor.eff.orgTor is a toolset for a wide range of organizations and people that want to improve their safety and security on the Internet. Using Tor can help you anonymize web browsing and publishing, instant messaging, IRC, SSH, and other applications that use the TCP protocol. Tor also provides a platform on which software developers can build new applications with built-in anonymity, safety, and privacy features.Tor aims to defend against traffic analysis, a form of network surveillance that threatens personal anonymity and privacy, confidential business activities and relationships, and state security. Communications are bounced around a distributed network of servers called onion routers, protecting you from websites that build profiles of your interests, local eavesdroppers that read your data or learn what sites you visit, and even the onion routers themselves.Other than that, just setup a server on your end (localhost) and just pay $5 or so for a dedicated ip address per month, and you'll have your hosting server.... all your own.

Hello, on my home network I have a dedicated file server wired into my router that is always on. As a little project I would like to set this up as a DNS Server, and have all PCs direct towards this PCs (192.168.1.xxx) for all its DNS resolving. I will still use my ISPs DNS server as a secondary.

What is the simplest way of achieving this? Does WinXP Pro have this capability built-in? I notice in my Admin Tools in Control Panel there is a DNS icon. Will this do? I've found absolutely nothing on the internet about any of this.

I found a program called Simple DNS Plus. Does anyone know if this is any good? Or if there is an open-source solution?

Thanks for any advice.

Hi all,

Appreciate can get some help here. Thanks

Objective:
Setup web server for development. So my friend from another ISP can access and help me do UAT.

Equipment:
Laptop: OS-Win XP. IP:192.168.1.5. XAMPP (working).
PC: OS-Win XP. IP:192.168.1.3 (for testing)
Router: DSL-2640T. using dynamic IP address when connected. IP:210.105.170.29 (example)

Configuration had been done:
1. Change web admin port to 8080.
2. Added Virtual Server to 192.168.1.5 with Web server

Situation:
1. Laptop is able to connect to internet
2. PC connect Laptop webpage via http://192.168.1.5/index.html is available.
3. PC connect Laptop webpage via http://210.105.170.29/index.html is NOT available.

Try:
1. Turn off router firewall and save & restart router. Not working.
2. Set inbound port and save & restart router. Not working.
Now had been revert back to original setting after try.

Is there anything else I need to configure in order to make it available to others?
Thanks a lot.

A:Web hosting via DSL-2640T

If you are trying to connect to one computer on your network to another computer on your network by using your wan ip address and it is not working that just means that your router does not support nat loopback.

Do I understand it correctly that you enabled remote administration of your router? If so you should disable that.

Just forward port 80 to the computer runner apache.
