I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

This has been occurring for months now hard crashing, PC reset. requiring It is EXTREMELY PC crashing, requiring hard reset. annoying especially if I am in the middle of something very important The mouse cursor will lock everything will freeze and this will usually be followed by any sound repeating buzzing freezing From here it is a complete freeze The only way to get out of this is to restart my computer Now another surprising thing is that usually I need to push my reset button in PC crashing, requiring hard reset. all the way for my PC to reset I suppose this is so you don't bump the button When the crash occurs I only have to slightly touch the reset button for my PC to completely shut down Strange Upon first glance I suspected this to be my power supply however now I am not sure it could really be any other component I am fairly confident that this is hardware related but not sure what is causing these crashes Nothing seems to quot trigger quot the crashes It can happen whilst watching videos playing games browsing the web or simply idling Any help would be appreciated thanks

Please provide full specs of your PC including PSU make/model/wattage so we know what we're looking at. Could quite possibly be a PSU problem, but we need all your other hardware info too (CPU, Motherboard, RAM etc).

Having trouble with new computer freezing frequently and requiring a re-boot. I have occasionally gotten the BSOD but more often the system just freezes and will not respond to any input. Boots up again fine.

Bought the computer new a few months ago, and it started this shortly thereafter. Sometimes the wireless keyboard would stop working and sometimes could get it going again by removing and reinstalling the dongle and/or taking the batteries out of the keyboard mouse. Not sure if that is the culprit, but I am trying a different keyboard.

Ever since you have changed from Norton to Kaspersky your crashes were ....
I would also remove Kaspersky and replace with Microsoft Security Essentials, or failing that update Kas as it is over a year old.

Best advice that I've seen about this error (from here: http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-d...tml#post356791 )

What you're looking for will be in one of the following categories:

a) BIOS bug
b) a driver whose activity is causing the target processor to lock up
c) a hardware defect (temperature, voltage, dust, RFI, outright borkedness...)
- H2SO4

So, check the drivers
Then check the inside of the case (temperature, voltage, dust, etc).
Then run some hardware stress tests

Quote:
Try this free video stress test: FurMark: VGA Stress Test, Graphics Card and GPU Stability Test, Burn-in Test, OpenGL Benchmark and GPU Temperature | oZone3D.Net
Try this free stress test: Free Software - GIMPS

Quote:
Prime95 Setup:
- extract the contents of the zip file to a location of your choice
- double click on the executable file
- select "Just stress testing"
- select the "Blend" test. If you've already run MemTest overnight you may want to run the "Small FFTs" test instead.
- "Number of torture test threads to run" should equal the number of CPU's times 2 (if you're using hyperthreading).
The easiest way to figure this out is to go to Task Manager...Performance tab - and see the number of boxes under CPU Usage History
Then run the test for 6 to 24 hours - or until you get errors (whichever comes first).
The Test selection box and the stress.txt file describes what components that the program stresses.

Then try replacing parts.
Then look up the versions of your BIOS to see what changes were done.[/QUOTE]

Hi

I seem to be having the same issue as another poster. My computer has been running very slowly for a while. Now it keeps freezing at random times and there is nothing I can do (right click to close, ctrl/alt/delete, etc)so I have to do a hard reboot. When I try to run scans it either freezes or completely turns my computer off. I have tried to run them in both normal and safe mode.

Any help would be appreciated and if you need any more information I will do my best to provide it.

Thank you

Have you Googled deeply into Samsung SSD issues? They have had several problems recently regarding firmware and their Magician software.

I don't own a Samsung, so did not pay a lot of attention to the details. I do know that sleep issues can be related to firmware.

Walk down these search results as a starting point:

I have two copies of Windows 7. One is installed to C:\ - One is installed to D:\

They were both intended to be separate installations, due to a hard drive failure with C:\ .. (and Pre-startup reflects two different versions of Windows 7 to load, of which I have to choose the first one (D:\).

I've attempted to remove the C: from inside my tower, but when I do, D: will not boot up.

I am not understanding why this is happening. I have a new hard drive to use in place of C:, but my BIOS is not liking that I removed it, even though, it's not even supposed to be in use.

I need to get Windows 7 installed to my new Hard Drive, but removing the C: won't even allow me to boot the D: .. I'm using SATA connections for the hard drives.

Did you substitute another power supply? Did you reseat all connectors?
Another thing -you say that you Flashed the BIOS and that produced a temporary fix. You might want to contact Asus about the issue based on this alone.

I recently put together my custom build, and it worked fine for about a month, but I went to install my new Seagate hard drive and it immediately started boot looping. It usually gets to the windows Logo, then freezes for a moment, black screens, and starts again, sending me to a window asking if I'd like to launch startup repair, but once I click on it, it blue screens. I already made sure it's not trying to launch Windows from the new drive, and I tried running a diskpart on the new drive and repartitioned it, which let it boot once and it stayed on for a few hours. What should I do to fix this? It only started happening after I installed the new drive.

My laptop started getting these symptoms at the beginning of May One night I came freezing, and crashing to Computer failing boot, back to my room Computer failing to boot, freezing, and crashing after a while only to find that it had frozen while it was idle nothing happened when I moved the mouse or pressed keys and I noticed the HDD light was on as if the HDD was busy forcing me to do a hard reboot The situation escalated when the laptop started crashing randomly as well I would be reading a web page not touching anything with nothing open but Firefox and then click it would crash and reboot itself giving me the Windows did not shut down successfully error screen http www winhelp us images windows troubleshoot trouble jpg The boot issues usually only occur during the first boot of the day after the laptop has been off overnight It usually crashes mid-way and reboots itself prompting the Windows failed to start error screen http www howtogeek com wp-content uploads sshot png Then every time I try to run Start-up Repair it fails claiming that it can t fix the problem whereas if I try to start Windows normally after a few attempts it boots fine Other times if it doesn t crash mid-way during booting it might freeze forcing me to do a hard reboot When this prompts error screen instead I just start Windows normally and again after a few attempts it boots fine Also sometimes when the laptop freezes whether during booting or logged into my account it goes all jittery and scrambled fractured-looking slightly similar to this http bp blogspot com -Awk V UWkT TzOYu-J UAI AAAAAAAABec oizi nasWfg s glitch jpg but showing more of the screen s scrambled content and less blank space I ve done a bit of research but so far I haven t had much success diagnosing the problem I have Norton Anti-Virus installed and running on the computer and manually initiated a scan just to be safe which found nothing I did a scan with Malwarebytes which found two things so I removed them immediately but that doesn t seem to have helped either I used CCleaner to clean out the registry and tidy up the HDD but that only helped to free up some space I started wondering if it was malfunctioning hardware and thought that maybe my HDD was failing as it is constantly close to being full and the laptop is nearly years old already I installed SeaTools and CrystalDiskInfo and ran both to scan the HDD with both returning the same all-clear results Lastly I ran the Memory Diagnostics Tool to check the RAM which also found no errors Puzzled this was as far as I got by myself before my brother told me that he hadn t been having any issues with the laptop He always uses it on the High Performance power plan and he suggested that I switch it to that Miraculously this minor change somehow makes all the difference almost It has only crashed once since I ve been using it on this power plan I had it sitting on a warm bed so maybe it overheated and it hasn t frozen at all since I don t understand how it makes such a huge difference though as the only differing setting between the two plans while the laptop is plugged in is Processor Power Management gt Minimum Processor State with my plan set to and High Performance set to The down side is changing the power plan doesn t solve the boot issues and I don t consider it a proper solution for anything anyway I assume that if I was to switch back to my previous power plan the crashing and freezing would start again I didn t make any major changes to the computer immediately prior to the start of these issues and after all the tests I ve done I have absolutely no idea what the problem is Any advice would be much appreciated and thank you in advance to anyone who can assist Computer - Toshiba Satellite L laptop OS - Windows Vista Home Premium SP -bit CPU - Intel Pentium Dual-Core GHz RAM - GB upgraded to GB HDD - GB GB C Drive nbsp

Hello All,

I was wondering if I could get some assistance regarding a freezing issue I'm encountering. I'm currently on Windows 8.1 and have noticed that when I leave my computer alone it will freeze completely, including the screen. I was having issues where I would put it into sleep mode only to find that it booted back up later on and froze. Then I added a screen saver instead of putting it to sleep and the issue persists.

Any suggestions on what the possible causes may be? I've recently replaced the graphics card to a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti and I'm unsure if the problems started after that.

Thanks for the help!

A:Computer Freezing and Requiring Restart from Power Button

Try going into Device Manager and deleting the card. Then reboot. Windows will detect the card and reinstall the same driver you deleted. This is a support trick that works quite often. If it does not work at least it has the virtue of being very low risk.

I plugged in my camera to charge and about 2 min later i heard a crackling sound and my computer froze...everytime i try to startup it crackles and freezes, i can't even make it to my desktop. I was having problems with it powering down prior to that and not coming back on when set on restart. I don't know if this has anything to do with the problem. I have a laptop acer aspire 5100 series. please help if you can!!

Hello I have laptop reboots requiring freezing N71JQ up multiple Asus an Asus laptop that has recently been migrated from Windows to Windows I had few issues with Windows after I got used to how it functions Now it usually takes - boot tries to make it through all the freezing issues before I get a successful boot It rarely stops at the same place Asus N71JQ laptop freezing up requiring multiple reboots in the boot cycle I have tried to use the Windows troubleshooter selecting the restart issues but it did not find any issues needing to be resolved I have updated the drivers using driverscan and it did update drivers but did not effect any changes to the freezing lockups I have configured the PC to create a complete dump upon lockups but have not restarted the PC after the change since it takes so many tries to get to a workable configuration I am attaching the SFdebug file as an attachment to this post Any help solving this issue is greatly appreciated Thank you

A:Asus N71JQ laptop freezing up requiring multiple reboots

Your BIOS dates from 2009. Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there are any BIOS updates available for your system. Also check the readme file to see if they apply to the problems that you are having. Please be advised that flashing the BIOS is a very unforgiving process - and one mistake can physically damage your motherboard.

Also, please understand that a BIOS this old probably isn't very compatible with Win8 or 8.1. There are things we can do to make it more reliable - but there may come a point where you just have to accept that it's not going to work right. It may be advisable to downgrade to Win7 or earlier in order to completely eliminate the problems.

I scanned through the reports and haven't found anything significant.
Let's try this report:
Please do the following:
- open Event Viewer (run eventvwr.msc from the "Run" dialog))
- expand the Custom Views category (left click on the > next to the words "Custom Views")
- right click on Administrative Events
- select "Save all Events in Custom View as..."
- save the file as Admin.evtx
- zip up the file (right click on it, select "Send to", select "Compressed (zipped) folder")
- upload it with your next post (if it's too big, then upload it to a free file-hosting service and post a link here).

My computer is freezing often, sometimes right after booting up or resuming from standby, but also randomly. Usually the mouse pointer still moves, but nothing else responds, not even ctrl-alt-del, and I'm forced to reboot.

Also, I needed to update Windows Installer, and this gives me an error about "access is denied" when I try running the update (the last two versions both did this). Running as admin in safe mode still gave this message. I was told it's likely a registry problem or malware by friends, but they didn't know how to fix it.

I'm using Windows XP Home, SP2.

Hey everybody. I've been experiencing an issue recently, where, whenever I select my computer to operate in either "Balanced" or "High performance" mode via power options the audio will become very crackly and the video will freeze every minute or so for a few seconds. If I set the computer to "Power saver" the problem goes away, but naturally, my computer starts to run much slower as a result. Is my computer not getting enough power, or something? I'm on an Acer Aspire TC-120 (ES21) running Windows 8.1 64 bit. Any help is much appreciated.

As the title says, I'm experiencing random crashes in the form of freezing. No BSOD, no power down or reset, just an unrecoverable freeze.
The computer is a relatively new build (3-4 months old), and this has been happening the entire time.
This occurs during gaming, Installation of software, and various other instances.
Memtest showed nothing, so the RAM is probably fine.

I've been having a pretty weird problem that started about a month or two ago and happens anywhere from once a week to once every other day No software was installed around when this started happening and no hardware changes were made in the preceding months either I've had this machine for about years Every program will become slow and or unresponsive and Win shutdown, becomes requiring hard changes unresponsive recent no if I can manage to close any of them Win becomes unresponsive requiring hard shutdown, no recent changes the item text will vanish from the taskbar but the quot icon quot will still remain Here's a picture to illustrate https i imgur com GoY UBN jpg No matter how long I wait it will not go away and no programs remaining open will start to respond Additionally I cannot start any application Win becomes unresponsive requiring hard shutdown, no recent changes - an application I try to start will appear in Task Manager I always have it running so I didn't have a need to open that thankfully but only using a very small amount of RAM No matter how long I wait it will never use more than like kbish of RAM I can close some applications using the task manager But sometimes if I try to end a process it will ask me quot Are you sure quot and then will proceed to not close it or close it so it quot vanishes quot from the taskbar like in the picture Win becomes unresponsive requiring hard shutdown, no recent changes and the task manager and the taskbar freeze Sometimes they freeze independent of me doing that Trying to restart via the start menu does not work No matter how long I wait no applications will close and nothing will change Things I have tried without success -sfc scannow -Malwarebytes -avast antivirus -Hard drive change I recently cloned and replaced my C drive with another drive but this problem predated that change by about weeks and has persisted with the drive change There are also no consistent triggers I have left the computer on for a few days when I go out of town and find my messenger windows seem to be up and running but actually turned unresponsive and stopped receiving messages after I was out of town for a day or two with no indication anything was wrong Messages I typed and sent after this quot silence quot were never received by the other party and checking the message history via an external interface after a reboot confirms there was more I did not receive and the messages I tried sending went into the ether Additionally Steam was unable to connect to the Internet so it seems whatever problem this is also impacts Internet access The only thing I can think of that MIGHT be related to this is I don't want Windows and have chosen to hide some updates related to that but might have missed some I've never accepted any of the install prompts and have them hidden I've built my past two computers and consider myself pretty savvy but I've never seen anything like this and have no clue how I would even search for it to see if others have had it I should also note there were a few times when after logging into Windows the network connection refused to work A reboot or two later it would work with no problem This has not happened for a while and could have been me being impatient but thought it worth mentioning Waiting on programs to respond or the machine to restart via the start menu has meant me waiting hours though so that unresponsiveness is definitely not my imagination Sorry if I posted this in the wrong place Please let me know any information you'd need Thank you

A:Win becomes unresponsive requiring hard shutdown, no recent changes

Hello oddprob,

A few more things to try:

1. Possibly a corrupt user account. Could create a new account and see if the issue persists.

2. Check Device Manager for Driver issues. Once there, be sue to click on "View" then "Show Hidden Devices."

3. May still be Malware related. You could post in our "System Security Forum" for help. http://www.sevenforums.com/system-security/

4. Run CHKDSK.

5. Run Clean Boot

Hope this helps,

For the past couple of months my PC has had quite a few hangs which require hard reboots to get it working again.  Generally, but not always, this seems to happen when I am downloading a large file -- both through my browser and more frequently when using a download manager such as Jdownloader.

I have attached the sysnativefilecollection info.  Unfortunately Perfmon would not respond. The application just hung and was listed as not responding.

Info about my PC is below:

My computer will freeze at random times when playing games like Halo 2, STALKER, Crysis, Far Cry 2, and Caesar 4. I don't think it is a heat problem since it will happen at random times and my dad's comp, which also has the same specs doesn't freeze. So I was wondering if any of you could help me figure out what is wrong. Specs are right here.

Hello, I was hoping maybe somebody could help me with this laptop. The issue I'm having is most of the time when I walk away from it and leave it on, upon returning the screen is just black, the computer is running but there is no response on the keyboard or mouse, which requires a hard shutdown and a restart. It then says it was not shut down properly, I start it up, and it runs fine until the next time I walk away and it does this freeze thing. I also want to note that it does not always do this, sometimes it sleeps like it should, but the problem is increasing in frequency.

No I have had this before its the drivers, the video card is going out, anything? Nobody on this forum has seen a laptop that would keep running but freeze on a black screen after going idle?

Hi all I've been having this problem for quite some time now I would say a year or more where my computer completely freezes up without any prompting It's quite frustrating to diagnose since it happens on such a random basis -there seems to be no trend as to what kind of programs I have running what kind of things I am using it for etc Sometimes it happens when I'm just browsing the net other times it happens when I just have some files up ie not memory intensive tasks -today it even happened when I put a USB stick in I am at a complete loss as to what might be the cause I have already deleted some old programs that I'm not using but that hasn't seemed to have done anything I've done a disk cleanup and run a scan for viruses The freeze can only be resolved with a hard restart which I know is not good for the computer I've already had to do this some or so times already I've attached the event viewer taken computer reset requiring Random freeze hard about - minutes after the last freeze I had the one when it froze after I put my USB stick in Any help or advice at all would be much appreciated

Descriptor @ fffffa8004566a08
Section @ fffffa8004566b90
Offset : 664
Length : 264
Flags : 0x00000000
Severity : Fatal

Error : BUSLG_GENERIC_ERR_*_TIMEOUT_ERR (Proc 0 Bank 4)
Status : 0xfa00000000070f0f
The first parameter or argument has the value of 0x0, which is a Machine Check Exception, which means the CPU has detected a hardware problem and the address points to a processor error because the CPU has found one, so it could be a different form of hardware which is causing the issue.

We can see that the CPU detected a Timeout Error, but wasn't able to identify what caused the error.

In such a situation, it is best to use these steps:Hardware - Stress Test With Prime95
Enable "Round off checking" before the test (see first post below tutorial).
Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try
All the hardware seeming to be running stable and tests reporting no errors, could mean a bad motherboard.

Side Notes:

Although these steps are not strictly related to the issue, these steps will help to avoid any BSODs in the future.

Tea Timer asked if I wanted to allow a registry change by mmds.exe and because it's a Microsoft application I said yes. Since doing so mmds.exe will show up at least three on four times a day. When it does appear it will almost immediately take 100% of the CPU time and never release even 1%. Since all of the CPU time is dedicated to that one request there is 0% left for the server and so it will hang. The only way to resolve the problem is to power the server off and then power it back on again. A shutdown is impossible and mmds.exe can not be deleted in the Task Manager since there is 0% CPU remaining. Is this caused by a virus and how do I resolve this problem? The problem is on a Compaq server which is running Window NT 4.0

Hello and welcome. I am moving this to Am I Infected from Windows NT/2000/2003.This appears to be a new malware. I would like to get a second opinion and then also run MBm.Lets' upload this file for a second opinion on what it actually is..Please make sure that you can view all hidden files. Instructions on how to do this can be found here:How to see hidden files in WindowsPlease click this link-->JottiWhen the jotti page has finished loading, click the Browse button and navigate to the following file and click Submit. suspect.file Please post back the results of the scan in your next post.If Jotti is busy, try the same at Virustotal: http://www.virustotal.com/Next run MBAM (MalwareBytes):NOTE: Before saving MBAM please rename it to zztoy.exe....now save it to your desktop. Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.alternate download link 1alternate download link 2MBAM may "make changes to your registry" as part of its disinfection routine. If using other security programs that detect registry changes (ie Spybot's Teatimer), they may interfere or alert you. Temporarily disable such programs or permit them to allow the changes.Make sure you are connected to the Internet.Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application. When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings. When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:Update Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareLaunch Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareThen click Finish.MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan.If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue. If you encounter any problems while downloading the definition updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install. On the Scanner tab:Make sure the "Perform Quick Scan" option is selected. Then click on the Scan button. If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button. The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient. When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.Back at the main Scanner screen:Click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad. The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply. Be sure to post the complete log to include the top portion which shows MBAM's database version and your operating system.Exit MBAM when done.Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be asked to reboot your computer so MBAM can proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot normally (not into safe mode) will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware.

After I restored to default settings in the bios , I get into this problem of bitlocker requiring the key to start. I tried to suspend bit locker but bit locker management is not available . OS is win 8.1 , product is Dell Venue Pro 11 Tablet.

When I tried to use elevated command to disable bitlocker , the system does not recognize "protectors" in the command line.

What am I to do? I am sick of entering the very long Key , each time I bootup

Tks

A:Help with bitlocker requiring key every time I boot up.

Problem solved.

I must have miss typed the command to disable Bitlocker the first time I tried it.

After disabling and re enabling . It is OK again.

I still find it strange that the Bit Locker On/Off Encryption function is not available from the Control Panel.

Yeah, pretty much what it says above. I'll get different messages depending on what it feels like crashing at. Sometimes it will say no valid system disks, sometimes it will get to the XP loading screen with the little -----> <------ -----> <------ thing going back and forth and sit there for 20 minutes. Or sometimes it will tell me that my config and system files are totally screwed. This has happened with both my Professional and my home copies of XP.

Oh what to do?

A:XP requiring CD-ROM in drive to boot properly

Are the two affected o/s on the same disk/PC or Network?

Have you run a full malware check?
http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

I would suggest a full malware check followed by checking the system files:-
Go to Start>Run and type sfc/ scannow (the space after sfc/ is essential) you may need the XP disk if files are missing/damaged.

If that doesn't help, you could run a repair install on windows through the recovery console.

If you can't actually get the o/s booted up, tap the f8 key from start-up and select 'last good configuration'.

BTW, I'm assuming you haven't altered the BIOS settings for booting up from the hard drive?

A:Multiple hard drive boot errors, hard drive clicking, and freezing

Try installing another operating system onto the disk and seeing if that crashes as well. If it doesn't you probably have a bad Windows cd. I suggest trying Kubuntu, a version of Linux meant to look somewhat like Windows (You can click here to skip directly to the download page). Just remember to actually install the thing. Most Linux operating systems can be ran directly from the cd without any need to be installed onto a hard disk. There's usually a program on the desktop that will install the system for you. If it runs properly for a week or two, get a new Windows disk. If it crashes just as much as Windows did, get a new computer.

Also, how much RAM does your computer have? If it's very low (256-512 megs or less) it can sometimes cause these kinds of crashes too.

I'm on windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64 bit with Vista originally on Laptop. Im on an Asus G71GX-RX05 laptop purchased about 3 years ago. I installed windows 7 with disc provided about 2 years ago. Here are the specs for my laptop.

My issue is that whenever I'm watching Netflix streaming or youtube streaming my computer will freeze completely on the screen that its on. No other screen pops up. It only occurs with streaming websites. I can play PC games fine and browse the internet. Sometimes a weird buzzing noise comes out of the speakers while it is freezing. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you,

A:Freeze during online video streaming requiring hard reset.

Hello,

I'm still not sure what you mean by "freeze". If the video freezes inside a perfectly normal browser window while it "buffers" due to a slow internet connection. If the browser itself freezes so that it won't respond to your input, that is more complicated and may or may not be helped by a reset: Tools/Internet Options/Advanced/Reset...

I seem to have a couple of common ones; one refers to attempting to write to a read-only memory area. Another talks about a clock interrupt. I stumbled on the jcgriff2 website with diagnostic tools and went through those steps and have three zip files with the results. I also updated drivers using Uniblue, and updated the Award BIOS, ran a memory check, and chkdsk.

I appreciate any help you guys can give. Since about Windows 95, I haven't really kept up on the technical side so much.

Thanks in advance.

Hey guys, I have a PC that was custom built with all new hardware, and I'm getting hard freezes anywhere from once a day to once a month.
It happens while doing anything from watching a movie, to just browsing the web.

I replaced the PSU, flashed the Bios, reinstalled windows, changed the power settings, updated drivers but the problem still occurs.

Windows event viewer doesn't show anything that related to the crash except "previous system shutdown was unexpected".

I ran a stress and cpu test as well memtest all of those came up fine.
Since all the hardware is new not sure what to switch out first, or if I should reinstall windows again or change something in the bios.

I'm using a
Intel i7 3770k,
Intel graphics 4000,
Asus H61M-A Motherboard,
1 Crucial DDR3 Ram 8GB
Samsung Evo 840 SSD as primary drive,
Seagate 1TB HDD
Corsair 550 watt PSU

Any help is appreciated.

A:All new Hardware Custom build Freezes requiring hard reboot

Hello Avaava mate now you say you have swapped out most of the components just exactly have you not swapped out? I am assuming the board is new in which case (no pun) may have an issue.

Now just out of my curiosity could you do this as the PSU bought new might not be right and it would really eliminate for good that source of any problem.

Using HW Info
PART A:
You can test the volts on the PSU with HW Info HWiNFO, HWiNFO32/64 - Download < download the right bit version and close the right hand window select Sensors and scroll down to the power section where you will see what the volts are doing see my pic. In my pic the section (Nuvoton) with VBATT is a dead give away you are in the section for the rail voltages. There are other section titles and one that pops up often is ITE
Now the voltage on the different rails have to be within 5% =+/- of what is required or the machine will not work properly if at all.
See this for the rail voltage info
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/power-supply-specifications-atx-reference,3061.html (Section 2.)
The original right hand window shows the machine running and is handy for that but for looking at the components in some detail close it and use the main left hand side panel
FOR OTHER COMPONENTS
PART B:
Open each small square with + in it on the section the components are in and then click on the individual component/s (it will highlight in blue) - in the right hand side will appear all sorts of details including brands speeds and other essential info that particular device. See pic for example.
Use PART A: for the PSU (the pic is of my main deskie - Asus Ivy Bridge board so am guessing the section you will see will be Nuvoton) should you want to know the very fine detail of other stuff use PART B:

A:Games Requiring/Not Requiring Disc to Run

While installing the game to the other computer, you propably chose some "compact" installation method, and therefore it has to load videos/sound/some other material from the disc, because it wasn't installed on the hard drive. I'd try reinstalling the game and choosing the full installation.

Hi I have been having trouble with my freezes only error 80070490 hard shutdown; Multiple detected requiring laptop for the past year or so but have finally resolved to fix it however all the tests and checks I have Multiple freezes requiring hard shutdown; only detected error 80070490 performed have come back clean other than some issues with Windows Update and failure to upgrade to Windows I don't know yet if these are linked The Multiple freezes requiring hard shutdown; only detected error 80070490 main issue is repeated complete freeze of the computer no HDD activity requiring me to long-press the power button to resolve it This has happened - times in the past year in a range of programs sometimes with nothing running sometimes under heavy load and hot though I have now discounted overheating as the cause I also had this issue while attempting the Windows upgrade after at the start of stage Configuring Drivers or something Again I don't know if these are linked Event Viewer doesn't show any obvious pattern of errors prior to Multiple freezes requiring hard shutdown; only detected error 80070490 the freeze though I have not looked at this in too much detail It justs shows the quot critical Kernel-Power quot when I perform the power off I have performed all the tests and checks I could think of sfc DSKCHK Windows Memory Diagnostic Windows Update Readiness Tool Windows Update Diagnostic sfc initially showed an error but was able to fix it though this didn't stop the freezing issue The system update readiness tool has showed errors in the past I can't remember when sorry but claimed to fix them Windows Update Diagnostic has always reported issues including ones it cannot fix which include This error has not always been reported though and appeared to start after one of the failed windows upgrade attempts so I suspect it may not be linked to the freezes The freezes have been going on for gt months and the windows upgrade attempts have been since the start of August The first was in mid-August I tried to perform a system restore after first noticing it to a time when I knew it was not reported and though I received an error xc this appeared to work and it temporarily removed the error However after I ran Windows update on and ran WindowsUpdateDiagnostic it had returned If it helps the other Windows update error messages have mainly been c - but included FFFF E and as well as initially giving reports to failed driver updates for Intel Management Engine Interface and Realtek PCIe Family Controller I have since been through and checked all drivers for updates as a precaution and this error message hasn't recurred since I would like to firstly resolve the freezing issue and the Windows Update error if it is not linked The Windows upgrade is not a priority I have attached the CheckSUR and CBS logs they are split due to its large size apologies Thanks in advance for your assistance

I've been through 2 HP laptops already. Both were returned because they had the same problem: A semi-loud tapping noise, in sync with the hard drive light on the side of the laptop. After returning the second laptop I went back to best buy and they said that there was nothing wrong with the first laptop I'd returned. Afterwards I went to Costco and bought a 3rd HP laptop which was a different model, but the problem is still there. So the question is: Should I return this laptop and boycott HP, or is this just a normal sound that HP laptops make?Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XHDG1cMo0MA

Hi People This is gonna be a long one signal boot Monitor up crackling and no after but please please bear with me Im in a spot of Monitor crackling and no signal after boot up bother with my Iiyama quot monitor which is just over a year old Last night as i was playing the screen went purple and there was a sudden very strong smell of burnt plastic filling the room I turned off the computer immediatly and checked inside the casing At first i thought this was the graphics card that had over heated Geforce GTX but i cannot find any burn marks or signs of stress within the case I tried to reboot the computer after leaving it for hours and now the monitor seems to loose signal straight after the desktop loads There is no longer any burning smell however I tried loading in safe mode and everything seems fine in there apart from the monitor doesnt seem to be displaying in the device manager I have tried a system restore to see if anything got corrupted in the sudden shutdown but that did nothing However the screen did load at full resolution this time and was recoginized as working fine in the device manager There are no lines or spots in the monitor either I decided to try using HDMI with the Zotac adapter for the graphics card instead of DVI to see if it was the port that was the problem and the monitor did stay on the desktop but there was also a loud crackling sound coming from inside the monitor so i turned this off again I have tried the other DVI port on the graphics card but had the same problem Now it wont get passed the desktop again but works fine in safe mode Is this really my monitor or is this a graphic card problem I dont have another monitor to try and my only other graphics card is around - yrs old and may not work with the new motherboard Thanks in advance nbsp

A:Monitor crackling and no signal after boot up

Your description of the crackling sound from the monitor leads me to think the monitor is the problem. To confirm it you would need access to another monitor for testing purposes.

Hello,

I'm going to post two different scenarios that happens when my computer needs a hard restart
My computer freezes completely (literally no movement on the screen or anything, it's not slow it's frozen). And an extremely loud buzzing sound comes out of my headphones or speakers. The same thing as above except without the loud buzzing noise.

I saw that this happened to someone else who had both the speakers and the headphones plugged in at the same time. However, scenario #2 just happened to me 10 minutes ago even though I only had my headphones plugged in.

I built this computer six months ago and it's the first computer I've ever built. I assume it's a driver issue but I can't really pinpoint the problem since no BSOD appears on the screen and I have no higher computer knowledge.

I'm attaching the zip file required.

Thanks,

A:Random Computer Freezing - Need to hard restart after freezing No BSOD

Wow, this sounds like the same thing that happened to a friend of mine when his hard drive was failing. Replaced the drive and the freezes went away. Even the buzzing noise.

Also you may need to look at what drivers you may have just install/updated.

Hoping you don't have any failing hardware "Motherboard, video card, etc". Those are expensive

I have a lenovo ideacentre k3 series and it has about 1 second of lag when i try and play lotro. this is extremely frustrating. and i know my connection is fine because my laptop is running lag free (it has a very bad fps rate making it almost equally frustrating though). i just got this computer. I have done everything, i have lowered the graphics, i have checked the latency and its fine, i have defragged and run disk cleanup, and nothing works.

The drivers listed in red may cause problems on your system... We see a lot of crashes caused by USB wireless network adapters with out of date drivers. Recommend removing the device and connecting via your Ethernet cable, at least to test. If this is not feasible, try to do the things you normally do that cause crashes without the USB device in the system. You could also check if there is a driver update for the USB wireless network adapter.

Hey, I'm sorry to say I'm absolutely useless with computers so bare with me...

I recently installed LOTRO and it's been working fine (not crashing or anything) however, I can't see my mouse. It still does mousy things like clicking and highlighting selectable boxes but I can't actually see the damn thing and I need it to play properly, otherwise it becomes a guessing game for me on where about it is. I can see it until the point where it actually goes onto my characters once I've entered the world, then it's gone.

Please can someone explain this or tell me how to get my mouse back?

A:BSOD with LOTRO

Hi -

How are you connected to the Internet?

I see no drivers for NVIDIA network controller and this device needs an updated driver - it will never fly in Vista x64 - too old -

Code:

Name: Realtek 8185 Extensible Wireless Device
Device ID: PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8185&SUBSYS_822513D1&REV_20\4&2BE4B97F&0&5030

Driver: C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\RTL85n64.sys, 6.1053.1002.2006 (English),
10/4/2006 22:13:38, 378368 bytes
What did you upgrade from to Vista x64 - XP x86 or x64 - or ??

I would also suggest that you look into RAM upgrade - no less than 4GB for x64 (my opinion).

So I had the Turbine Launcher running and it was installing all the updates for the game, but when it tries to install .NET Framework 2.0 Redistributable Package (x86) an error window pops up. Does anyone know what I can do? Iv'e tried downloading .NET Framework directly from the Microsoft site but that doesnt help either. Any advice is appreciated, thank you!

Hey I am having some reoccurring computer crashes The system usually runs fine but when I run lotro the computer crashes after ish minutes Now the computer doesn't always crash the same way Half the time the screen will shut off and the last half second of audio will skip in a continuous loop- but the computer stays on until I cut the power Other times the computer will shut it self off entirely Every once in a while the screen will shut off but the computer will continue to run normally audio stays normal and I hear responses when I mash keys After restarting the crashed computer it sometimes fails to start After a few more crashes computer LOTRO attempts to power it on it will start up normally again The system used to overheat causing crashes but I refilled my liquid cooling system and the computer no longer tells me that it overheated as it used to on start up I suspected a power supply issue but I am running a Corsair W Power Supply Could the voltage from the outlet be too weak to run LOTRO computer crashes this intense system Could I fix that with a transformer Please let me know if this is the cause or if you have any other speculations I also suppose this could be caused by windows incompatibility issues Note I have updated all of my LOTRO computer crashes driver software through device manager and the problem remains This is not an entirely new issue either When I first installed Oblivion onto my PC the computer would crash the same way I then plugged the computer into its own outlet apart from the surge protector grid and the game ran smoothly This past problem is leading me to believe I need a stronger outlet ------------------ System Information ------------------ Time of this report Machine name CEBOLLA Operating System Windows Ultimate -bit Build win gdr - Language English Regional Setting English System Manufacturer INTEL System Model DX BT BIOS Default System BIOS Processor Intel R Core TM Extreme CPU X GHz CPUs GHz Memory MB RAM Available OS Memory MB RAM Page File MB used MB available Windows Dir C Windows DirectX Version DirectX DX Setup Parameters Not found User DPI Setting Using System DPI System DPI Setting DPI percent DWM DPI Scaling Disabled DxDiag Version bit Unicode ------------ DxDiag Notes ------------ Display Tab No problems found Sound Tab No problems found Sound Tab No problems found Sound Tab No problems found Input Tab No problems found -------------------- DirectX Debug Levels -------------------- Direct D retail DirectDraw retail DirectInput retail DirectMusic retail DirectPlay retail DirectSound retail DirectShow retail --------------- Display Devices --------------- Card name ATI Radeon HD Series Manufacturer ATI Technologies Inc Chip type ATI display adapter x DAC type Internal DAC MHz Device Key Enum PCI VEN amp DEV amp SUBSYS amp REV Display Memory MB Dedicated Memory MB Shared Memory MB Current Mode x bit Hz Monitor Name F- Monitor Model F- Monitor Id AIC Native Mode x p Hz Output Type HD Driver Name aticfx dll aticfx dll aticfx dll atiumdag dll atidxx dll atiumdva cap Driver File Version English Driver Version DDI Version Driver Model WDDM Driver Attributes Final Retail Driver Date Size bytes WHQL Logo'd Yes WHQL Date Stamp Device Identifier D B EE -D - CF-E - E BEC C Vendor ID x Device ID x SubSys ID x Revision ID x Driver Strong Name oem inf ATI Mfg NTx ati mtag RV X pci ven amp dev Rank Of Driver E Video Accel ModeMPEG A ModeMPEG C Deinterlace Caps E FF-B - B-BCF -BCB E F Format In Out YUY YUY Frames Prev Fwd Back Caps VideoProcess YUV RGB VideoProcess StretchX VideoProcess StretchY DeinterlaceTech PixelAdaptive AA E- - A - C - F FAF E E Format In Out YUY YUY Frames Prev Fwd Back Caps VideoProcess YUV RGB VideoProcess StretchX VideoProcess StretchY DeinterlaceTech BOBVerticalStretch A A C -C EC- BD - EDE-F C DC B Format In Out YUY YUY Frames Prev Fwd Back Caps VideoProcess YUV RGB VideoProcess StretchX VideoProcess StretchY E FF-B - B-BCF -BCB E F Format In Out UYVY UYVY Frames Prev... A:BSOD when playing LOTRO

The problem is apparently coming from your creative labs audio device. I suggest dropping by there and checking for driver updates.
Creative Worldwide Support

The other possibility is a memory issue, though it would be easier to check this driver first.

So I keep on getting a Blue Screen about - minutes after I exit LoTRO and sometimes when I have not played LoTRO I haven't been able to catch the error message before the computer restarts But when I'm able to catch it I see something about it being a memory error In order to view the error log I realized that it was put in kernal exiting After LoTRO BSOD mode I have recently changed it to small memory dump so if and when it BSOD After exiting LoTRO decides to BSOD After exiting LoTRO BOSD on me again I will be able to answer questions I have found some information about what you need to help me fix this problem and I've uploaded a zip file of the information gathered by the SF Diagnostic tool I assembled this desktop around - and the only thing I did to it was add more ram and a video card So if anyone could help me get this fixed that would be wonderful the BSOD is starting to get annoying

A:BSOD After exiting LoTRO

Hi lastiel.

Test your RAM modules for possible errors.
How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+
Run memtest for at least 8 passes, preferably overnight.

If it start showing errors/red lines, stop testing. A single error is enough to determine that something is going bad there.

If it does not show any error, enable Driver Verifier to monitor the drivers.
Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable
Run Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.

   Information
Why Driver Verifier:
It puts a stress on the drivers, ans so it makes the unstable drivers crash. Hopefully the driver that crashes is recorded in the memory dump.

How Can we know that DV is enabled:
It will make the system bit of slow, laggy.

   Warning
Before enabling DV, make it sure that you have earlier System restore points made in your computer. You can check it easily by using CCleaner looking at Tools > System Restore.

If there is no points, make a System Restore Point manually before enabling DV.

   Tip

If you fail to get on the Desktop because of DV, Boot into Advanced Boot Options > Safe mode. Disable DV there. Now boot normally again, and try following the instruction of enabling DV again.
If you cannot boot in Safe mode too, do a System Restore to a point you made earlier.

Let us know the results, with the subsequent crash dumps, if any.

Hey, lately when im playing LOTRO my laptop will slow down so everything is almost running in a slideshow for a couple of minutes and then it goes back to normal, i check my process list and the game is running at its usual memory, why would this be happening and is there anyway to stop it?

A:LOTRO + Slow Patches

I've noticed that LOTRO can be significantly sped up by doing a regular disk defrag. It seems to be very dependent on hard drive speed, and after every patch, a defrag goes a long way to keeping things running smoothly.

Also, there are a number of tweaks you can make to your system to make the game play much smoother. Here's a link on the official LOTRO forums that outlines alot of these tweaks:

http://forums.lotro.com/showthread.php?t=67651

Hope this helps! I've used quite a few of these tweaks, and have noticed a good improvement in performance.

BTW - Moria arrives on Nov 18th! Oh yeah!

Operating System Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium, 64bit

Hard Drive 1500GB4 SATA hard drive (7200RPM)
Optical Drive Slot-Load Dual Layer DVD Burner (DVD+-RW, CD-RW)

I read on the Lotro FAQ and it say,s to turn off directx 10 and put directx 9 instead, wich sucks since i have such good components

can anyone help me solve this so i can run my game in directx 10 please?

Hello, I have been experiencing problems with my computer crashing/locking up when I minimise to my desktop and then alt + tab back into my game(counter strike/silk road online etc) I can't ctrl + alt + delete, alt + tab or anything I am forced to reboot, if somebody could shed some light on my problem I would really appreciate it, thanks in advance. this only happens when I am playing video games, it has never happened browsing the internet.

A:Crashing, Freezing.

Hello mikecks and welcome to TSG!

I've not played those games before but some games are known to cause unpredictable results, that's why some games disable the alt+tab ability.

What are your system specs?
Have you got the latest drivers installed?

Hi For a while now I have been having trouble running half-life and episode one & Freezing Crashing of Freezing & Crashing the game on my computer The problem was that when ever I ran the game half-life or episode one that it would either freeze or crash the computer and restarting it So after a lot of hardware switching from my computer to a friends I found out that Freezing & Crashing my ram seem to be causing the problem I use x DDR kingmax I can run everything else on my system apart for half-life with the mb even more demanding games then half-life But for some Freezing & Crashing odd reason when I take out a stick and only run the system with mb I can run half-life and episode with no problems at all It s only when I put in the second stick that I get problems with the game But to make sure that one of the ram sticks wasn t faulty I switch them both and ran the game and it all works as long as I only have total system memory So just to check I also used a friends generic x mb DDR for both ram slots to make sure that maybe there wasn t anything wrong with the second ram slot but it worked just fine the entire time So I m kind of at a loss at the moment on what could be wrong My motherboard is a P P S-X that I had to get about a year ago because my original broke Thanks for any help nbsp

I have a Samsung Chronos Series running Windows and as of a day ago i have been experiencing extreme stability issues freezing programs and general unresponsiveness Whenever I boot up my computer and log in within minutes the system Crashing/Freezing freezes with the only way of shutting it off being to hold down the power and force reboot Each time windows boots up within a few minutes of logging on the system Crashing/Freezing freezes again After repeating this a few times it eventually would boot up but freeze between the windows screen and the log in screen The mouse was functional and could be moved around the screen but it was frozen at a black screen To fix this I ran a system restore through the BIOS This corrected that problem but I am still left with the problem of Crashing/Freezing my system freezing every time it boots up I have run my anti-virus Kaspersky and malwarebyes neither have found any sort of malware

A:Crashing/Freezing

1..What i would try first is boot into Safe Mode (f8) and see if problem is present there as well.İf everything works fine in Safe Mode then some third party services are probably causing the problems.

2.. a clean boot to troubleshoot the problem http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

3..How much RAM have you got? İf there's enough then next step 4.. would be a scan with http://www.eset.com/us/online-scanner/

(best to access the site with İE)run a scan, checkmark all appropriate boxes, including 'check archives,

click on advanced settings and checkmark ''scan for potentialy unsafe apps'

disable your antivirus just before you run Start

and re-enable it afterwards. The scanner will give you the option to delete anything it finds at the end.

Please do that and if after a cleaning of your disk and a reboot, the problem persists, please let us know the results.

İf no malware is found we'll have to do chkdsk next.

P.S İf malware is found please also go to Start>Run type prefetch click ok and delete everything on that page, then empty Recycle bin and reboot.

Hi,

Just got a minor question. What's the difference between 'crashing' and 'freezing'? Are they caused by the same things as well?

Thanks,

Eric

A:Crashing vs. Freezing

To me freezing causes you to restart your PC and crashing is a situation where your PC won't boot up or where your OS needs repair or installation

While playing games or doing anything that requires memory and video card memory usage, my computer tends to lock up fully and make a buzzing noise, which is actually the last sound heard just repeating itself. I came on here with this problem before thinking it was the sound card or video card, but even after updating the drivers and inspecting them, its neither.

I checked the event log in BIOS and theres a long list of CMOS checksum bad errors. I'm kinda new to this stuff and I really don't know what thats a sign of, but its probly the source of my problem. It jut recently began beeping at startup and stopping while booting, while showing an error that says CMOS/GPNV checksum bad.

Any way to fix this?

Diraru: What is the exact make and model of your computer? If it not a name brand computer, could you tell us the model of motherboard that you have. If you are still not sure, you can use one of the system information gathering tools below:http://www3.sympatico.ca/gtopala/about_siw.htmlhttp://www.belarc.com/free_download.htmlWhat is the sequence of beeps that you are getting?(2 long, 3 short beeps)With the exact sequence known, we can search for the meaning of your beep codes. With that said, the simplest thing to test right now may be your memory. You can use Memtest86 to test your memory. - http://www.memtest86.com/This info should point us in the right direction in looking for a solution to your problem.

Hi,
Welcome to the forums, try the option three from this tutorial:SFC Command - Run in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums (run the command at least 3 times).
If that doesn't help, do a repair with DISM command from here:

My problem is...my ASUS comuter, Windows 7, less than 1 year old, keeps crashing and giving me a blue screen with white writing on it, or freezes when i am online. I have brought it in for repair three times in the past 2 months. i bought the suggested anti-virus, even though i already had a different anti-virus already installed. This did not help. I downloaded the Microsoft security essentials...this did not help either. Any help you can give me would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I unistalled a graphics program as one of the plug-ins stopped working, came to install it again and the computer keeps frezing, even the task manager freezes sometimes, scans for viruses-adware/spyware,nothing.
The internet works fine.

A:Freezing/crashing

When you install the program, disconnect from the internet and close your firewall, antivirus, antispyware programs and any other program that may be running at the time. Conflicts with running programs can cause freeze-ups.

If the install still freezes, there may be leftover registry entries from the uninstall of the program.

You may want to use a registry cleaner such as regseeker HERE to remove any leftover entries.

Be careful using regseeker. Do not delete anything it finds unless you are sure it is safe to do so. Be sure 'Backup' is checked at the bottom of regseeker before you delete. Any registry entries pertaining to the uninstalled program should be safe to delete.

After cleaning the registry of leftovers try installing the program.

"It's not a true crash, in the sense that the bluescreen was initiated only because the combination of video driver and video hardware was being unresponsive, and not because of any synchronous processing exception".

Since Vista, the "Timeout Detection and Recovery" (TDR) components of the OS video subsystem have been capable of doing some truly impressive things to try to recover from issues which would have caused earlier OSs like XP to crash.

As a last resort, the TDR subsystem sends the video driver a "please restart yourself now!" command and waits a few seconds.

If there's no response, the OS concludes that the video driver/hardware combo has truly collapsed in a heap, and it fires off that stop 0x116 BSOD.

If playing with video driver versions hasn't helped, make sure the box is not overheating.

Try removing a side panel and aiming a big mains fan straight at the motherboard and GPU.

Run it like that for a few hours or days - long enough to ascertain whether cooler temperatures make a difference.

If so, it might be as simple as dust buildup and subsequently inadequate cooling.

I would download cpu-z and gpu-z (both free) and keep an eye on the video temps Let us know if you need help STOP 0x116: VIDEO_TDR_ERROR troubleshooting

Hey. I've recently started playing Lord of the Rings Online and about 5-6 times a day my computer will crash to desktop or completely freeze (causing me to reboot).

I've checked my event log and this is what is says:

Event filter with query "SELECT * FROM __InstanceModificationEvent WITHIN 60 WHERE TargetInstance ISA "Win32_Processor" AND TargetInstance.LoadPercentage > 99" could not be reactivated in namespace "//./root/CIMV2" because of error 0x80041003. Events cannot be delivered through this filter until the problem is corrected.

and in details/event data

//./root/CIMV2
SELECT * FROM __InstanceModificationEvent WITHIN 60 WHERE TargetInstance ISA "Win32_Processor" AND TargetInstance.LoadPercentage > 99
0x80041003

Does anyone know how to fix this? It's starting to get really annoying.
I'm good at hardware but I'm completely blank when it comes to this.
Any help appreciated!

Hi again,

I'm getting another BSOD while playing LOTRO. This one says dxgmms1.sys.

My specs are as follows:
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
The original OS was Vista Ultimate 64-bit
Vista was a full retail version, Windows 7 was an upgrade installed over Vista.
Upgraded to Windows 7 last winter.
I built the system in 2008 and replaced the motherboard, video card, and RAM last winter.
I followed the instructions to setup the minidump that Seth500 provided in my previous post but I still do not have anything in my windows/minidump folder after numerous BSODs. I have another folder with .dmp files in it called Windows/LiveKernelReports/Watchdog. I have attached the most recent of those .dmp files but it is almost 10 days old.

See attached system health report, the BSOD Info, and a DirectX Diagnosis file in the attached .zip folder.

Thanks,

Ren?e

Several problems Renee.
1-ASACPI.SYS

The pre 2009 version of this driver is a known BSOD cause.

Please visit this link: ASUS teK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download P7P55D LE
ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download P7P55D LE

Scroll down to the Utilities category, then scroll down to the "ATK0110 driver for WindowsXP/Vista/Windows 7 32&64-bit" (it's about the 12th item down).
Download and install it.
Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers to check and make sure that the ASACPI.SYS file is date stamped from 2009 or 2010 (NOT before.).
2-Old drivers. These are way before win 7 was released and need updating.

How To Find Drivers:

Quote:
- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.

- - The most common drivers are listed on this page: Driver Reference http://www.carrona.org/dvrref.html
- - Driver manufacturer links are on this page: http://www.carrona.org/drvrdown.html

Hey all,

I've just started a new forum for players of Lord of the Rings Online.
I know this is a shameless bit of advertising for myself, and for that I apologize. But I have visited these forums on a different account for a long time, and know how great the community is. It is my hope to run this new LOTRO forum as well as this forum is administered.

Anyway, if you play LOTRO and would like to join, the forum is:
