I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Could the fact that it isn't recognized by my PC be do to a lack of power from my psu? I have a raidmax 530w psu and min for the card is 400 so I figured I was okay... There is no place on the card to hook a cable from the psu to. It gets all its power straight from the MB... I dunno if that info will help any

Hello everyone, this is my first build and everything went fine until I try installing windows 7. So for me it gets past the starting windows screen and then it freezes on the setting your language and country screen. There is also no way out of this and I had to turn the computer off. Then I tried installing the CD that came with the mother board. It then say saying generate serial ATA driver Diskette? [Y/N]. At first I said yes and what came up was a screen that said the supported drive was not found: Floppy 1.44mb and USB drive! If I press no it just asks me to reboot. I have looked for solutions to this and haven't come across any that worked.

A:Problem with windows 7 install and Asrock drivers install on Asrock z77 extreme 4

hi there:

complete specs on your system would help. troubleshooting a custom-build computer system that has thousands of different makes/models of components can be tricky to say the least.

You should download and run SPECCY, and post the report here.

Check your cables that they are in place and secure, and all your connections to the hard drive and your RAM modules are seated correctly.

Are you using a Microsoft Windows7 licensed cd or a copy you borrowed from a friend?

Have you tested your hard drive? Is it new in anti-static bag when you got it? Or is it used from an older system you had?

If you have a spare SATA hard drive, you can swap out with your existing SATA drive and try your Win7 load again. If it fails, you could have a Motherboard, RAM, or cable connection problem.

Answering some of these questions and posting your specs will help us to help you!

I just bought an MSI NVIDIA GeForce N9800GT Video Card, and I'm having problems with the installation...
My computer auto-recognizes the card and installs some driver of its own(??), but it doesn't actually let me use it. So I've tried drivers from three different places (NVIDIA site, MSI site, CD that came in-box) and none of them have worked. Every time it says incompatible display drivers, and something about the driver being incompatible with the VGA driver, or some such thing.
I'm really stuck, and I've never had video card problems before, so this is really frustrating.. Please help me!

A:Help! Video Card won't install! Drivers?

The error message I'm getting is:
Incompatible display adapter has been disabled.
At least one display adapter on the system has been disabled because its driver is not compatible with the driver for the VGA adapter.

Please tell me that helps?

Ah, the notorious "some" error message. These are nasty..

It would be nice if you made sure the error message isn't something more detailed than the "some". What Windows? What computer? What video card?

NvQTwk is the nVidia tray application. Just ignore it and even better, disable it in msconfig.

"There was a problem with the device, An error occured during the installation of the device"

This morning when I turned on my laptop I got a blue screen with the following statement:

"Driver unloaded without cancelling pending operation, your system has been shut down.

I was able to restart my system.

Any ideas???

I would suggest you run DriverCleaner Pro ( ) and remove all traces of the bad NVidia installs and then defragment and then reboot and then run sfc /scannow.

After that, you can try a fresh NVidia install.

The drivers on my disc didn't seem to work, the only luck I've had is a Sigmatel codec but it doesn't appear to have everything that everything back to the way it was after the install. A:Installing drivers in the correct order after clean Install

There is no order for installing drivers, unless specified, for instance, when you're downloading a driver, you might find a notification that says, "pls install driver xxxxxx before this one".
The reason that it is common to install the main chipset first, is so as to get proper access to peripherals like USB ports, wifi cards, etc, but it truly makes no difference which order you do them.

As far as memory(system) goes, you will need a min of 2gb mem, 4 gb is optimal, it will run with 1gb but not well at all. It pretty old hardware, I wouldn't throw too much $$$$$ into this.......

the chipset will take 4gb I see it is a Intel? 865GV Chipset I believe

Hey, I just had a question for my fellow geeks and nerds of the internet:

I'm building a new PC, and my Motherboard is an Abit- KN8 SLI, and it does not have integrated video.

Due to the issue on hand, I'm unable to install my copy of Windows XP onto my machine.

Now the only video card I have is an Asus Extreme AX850, running through a PCI-Express port, and my Motherboard doesn't recognize that. I can't even bring up BIOS. I'm a poor 15 year old, so I can't afford another graphics card. Is there no hope? Or is there something that I can do to get this card working.

Hi there, I am having the same problem as this person: Dxdiag doesn't recognize graphics card

I have updated my video drivers several times and updated the BIOS as someone in the thread has suggested. The problem is still persisting for me

Also, the video card has randomly worked twice since this problem started.

-The first time I tried updating the video drivers it was working but stopped once i restarted the computer again. I tried re-installing the video drivers many times but it never worked after that until today.

-Just today i set up my computer after having moved and it was working. When i left the computer the screen could not be "woken up" so i had to hold the power button to shut down. Since then it hasn't been working at all.

Here are some screenshots:

Side note - I have been tempted to buy a new video card as mine is pretty outdated anyhow. If i got a new card would this problem go away?

Ok heres the problem, I recently put in a old video card on my computer (a NVIDIA Geforce 2 MX/MX 400), and downloaded the lastest drivers from thier website. It runs perfect for everything I want it to do. However Windows thinks that the drivers are not installed yet and the New Hardware Wizard pops up each time I turn on the computer, how could I get windows to recognize the drivers? Would it be a reinstall of them? Or is there a way to disable the Hardware wizard on boot up? Thanks in advance.
P.S. The driver version is 93.71 if that helps any.

A:Windows Xp Does Not Recognize Video Card

I would reinstall the driver through the Device manager.

Right click MY Computer
Select Properties
Click the HARDWARE tab
Select Device manager
Right click your Video card under DISPLAY ADAPTERS
click Uninstall
Reboot your computer
Run the setup for your Vid card
Reboot again

Whenever the wizard pops open hit cancel. Post results here.

Hey everyone, I have just built a new computer. I have installed all the drivers and stuff needed for the graphics card yet when I look on Speccy or CPUID Hardware monitor it always just seems to say 7700 rather than 7790. "Sapphire Trixx" also shows that there is 0Mb/GDDR5 and also only shows it as a 7700 Series. Surely that program would go into detail such as "7790 1Gb OC Edition" or something like that?

I just finished doing a repair reinstallation of Windows XP SP1. When it was done, for some reason my video card doesn't work any more; i.e. games don't run, can't use 1152x768 resolution, etc. I've tried reinstalling the detonator drivers from nVidia's website, but that didn't help. I checked the hardware manager and noticed that the "display adapter" entry is missing. I've tried manually adding it through the 'add new hardware' wizard, but it didn't fix anything.

Ideas? =(

I just bought 128 RAM for my Sony Vaio (733mhz) and twice, after installing the Ram, it didn't boot. Rather the request for a system disc appeared. So, then I took out the RAM (figuring I had bought the wrong brand) and now the computer doesn't recognize the video card / connection to the monitor. The typical check your signal connection message keeps appearing. I tested the video card on another computer and it works fine. I'm worried that the RAM somehow blew the mother board or the video slot.

Has this happened to anyone and if so do you have any insight on how I may work past it and get my machine to function again? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I have a Compaq Presario 5240 w/AMD K6 400mhz, 128mb ram. It came with an integral 4mb video processor with software-based 3d accelerator. Because this caused most new games to run very slowly, I recently installed a 32mb Wicked3d Voodoo2 PCI card. The new card shows up on the "device manager" and has up-to-date drivers. The monitor is connected through the new card and functions properly. My system seems to recognize the physical presence of the new card, and the diagnostics check out, but when I try to adjust the settings of my games (like Tropico, Civ III, and Starfleet Command) I get a message that I only have 4mb video memory and only software-based 3d acceleration. What do I have to do to get these games to recognize and use the full capabilities of the new card?

A:software doesn't recognize video card

I would disable the onboard video in the BIOS. Tap F10 while the computer starts up and you will get into setup. I don't know exactly where you will see it.

On the other hand you may be able to go into Device Manager and disable the card.

Windows may still see it even after you have uninstalled from the BIOS. Thats because it doesn't ask the BIOS what is in the computer. It checks it out for itself.

I just bought a 9800 GT Geforce nVidia card.I have an Intel G43NB motherboard. I installed the new graphics card into the PCI-e slot, but I can't get the computer to recognize the card. If I plug my monitor into the card's I/O slot, I get the "no signal" message. I tried installing the driver off the website, but it says: "The NVIDIA setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit.". The card also doesn't appear in Device Manager. Any suggestions?

A:Computer doesn't recognize video card

With the monitor connected to the onboard video you need to enter the BIOS setup, like F2 or DEL, on start up and change the primary video to PCI-Express or PEG. Then save and exit the setup. Power off the computer and connect the monitor to the new video card and turn on the computer.

Also you need to make sure you have at least a 400 watt or higher power supply and that you have connected the auxiliary power cable to the back of the video card from the power supply.

Try the monitor and projector on another computer to eliminate them as being faulty or not. If indeed they both work it remains that there is something wrong with the lap top somewhere.

existnz, welcome to the Seven Forums.

If this,

is what I think it is, then sorry we can't help you till you get a legit copy of Windows. From what I can see that is an illegal version that is pre-cracked and heavily modified, both of which make it hard to help you. The first is because we don't help with illegal software, and being heavily modified makes it that we can't even begin to help because we don't know what has been removed.

First off, I have Windows XP.

For example, I have an older video card in my system now because I have to send my better card in for warranty repair.

I had upgraded to Direct x 9 and now I want to go back to 8.1. How do I revert or remove Direct x 9?

Also, what is the best way to install video drivers? I heard awhile back you should boot into safe mode or something?

A:What's the BEST way to install video drivers , new Direct X,and remove older drivers?

This method works best for me. First off, I use Norton Ghost 2003 to make an image of my Windows drive. When I make this image, I have already installed WinXP SP1 plus all the latest Windows updates I can get. Also, I have already installed useful and necessary programs like Norton Antivirus 2002, ZoneAlarm Firewall, NoAds, Analog X Cookiewall. I make sure that I don't have any videocard drivers installed. As for Direct X, it's the default one installed when you first install WinXP.

Now that I have the image, I go on and try installing new Direct X versions or new videocard drivers. If something goes wrong and messes up my system or I'm not happy with the performance of the new drivers or Direct X, I use Norton Ghost 2003 to restore my image. By restoring the image, I have everything back--WinXP SP1 + all updates, programs I've installed, etc. The process only takes about 4 minutes compared to reinstalling Windows + all the programs manually (3-5 hours).

With the image backed up to that original point, I try alternative drivers or Direct X files until I find a setting I like.

This is the way I test new Detonator drivers and Direct X files. It's fool-proof and makes me more bold in trying out new stuff.

If you need more background on the benefits of Ghost 2003 and its usage, check out this guide at

Hope that helped.

BTW, if you remember the date that you installed Direct X9.0, you might be able to go back to your 8.1 setting by restoring your system to that point using System Restore found under Start Menu and System Accessories.

Hello everyone,

The problem appears to happen only to a specific word document that we copy every year and change the body for another issue.
This document has 380 pages and the 99% of the words are Greek. Although the words has been written correctly, the spell and grammar check keeps marking red al the words. I tried to disable and re-enable some settings : 1) Check spell while you type 2) Hide spelling errors in this document 3) Do not check spelling or grammar 4) Detect Language automatically 5) I've selected the whole document and then set the Language to Greek with no effect

Nothing seems to solve this annoying problem. I could manually fix this problem but will take days.

Is this happen only with the non-English words?

Can you please suggest me a solution for this?

VBA solutions are accepted too.

Thank you in advance for your kind help,

A:spell check does not recognize correct words

Another tip: When select the whole text in the document and then set the language to Greek, the following message appears: There are too many spelling or grammatical errors in Untitled.doc to continue displaying them. To check the spelling and grammar of this document, choose Spelling and Grammar from the Tools menu.

After that, the Hide spelling errors setting is checked automatically

But as I said before, will take days to fix all the words manually

I've bought myself a new video card yesterday; HIS Radeon X1650 Pro 512mb IceQ, AGP. I went ahead to install it, and I get no picture after booting up.

I am receiving a signal to the monitor (I am not getting a "check signal" message) but no image comes to the PC. I went to put my old card in which is a Gigabyte 128mb 9600 Pro, and it now it doesn't work either!!!

Both cards are receiving power as theirs fans are chugging along.

I had also purchased a 1gig stick of RAM to complement my new video card, so I set my PC up the way it was before the attempted installation of the new card. Still nothing happening.

Current components of PC are:

P4 2.8ghz (D865PERL)
Gigabyte Radeon 9600 Pro 128mb
512mb RAM
DVD and Lite-On burner

A:New video card install no good, now older card doesn't work either

I don't know about the 9600 Pro but the X1650 Pro should have a power connector on it. Possibly a floppy drive type connector. Was that plugged in?

A:Help With Video Card Drivers

Hello. I have a few possible causes for your problem, and a few possible solutions:

1) Can you get on the internet while your computer is stable "For a couple minutes"? If so, try getting the previous driver from nVidia's website, or your card manufacturer's website. Or, try it with the drivers off the CD only, and dont update.

2) Bad RAM is possible. Try with only your old ram. Try not to mix and match ram brands, because that sometimes causes problems. But I would try and just use your old stick and see if that resolves anything.

3) For future refrence, I wouldn't add all that in a fell swoop. I would add the video card, install all the software and drivers, and when that works, put in the ram...that way you can troubleshoot the real problem more easily.

Hope This Helps, post back if you have any more problems and I or someone else on the board should be able to help.

Hiya and Welcome

Try going to and clicking on Product Updates. At the very bottom, after the popup window has gone, are device drivers. This is where I got my Intel ones when I upgraded to Win2000.

I started having problems with my desktop computer just before the weekend started. It started out that one time after the monitor turned off due to inactivity, it wouldn't turn back on. I tried to just turn it off, but it wouldn't turn off without holding down the power button for 5 seconds, and the reset button wouldn't work. Since then I had it freeze when attempting to watch a video on it. Once again the reset button wouldn't work and simply pressing the power button didn't do anything. I installed the newest video drivers for it, and shortly afterwards it bluescreened. I am using a Radeon 9800 Pro video card, currently with the latest catalyst drivers. Now, the question is whether people think this is the drivers, the video card itself, or something else?

Just been to DG, and I can't find in the list of manufacture's Banshee or Voodoo. Voodoo is the company that makes Banshee.

Also, is that the full name of the card? Go to Control panel | System. Device manager, under Display will be the name of your Video Card.

Found one driver that is Banshee:

Voodoo Banshee Driver 1.040 Win9x

I just need you to confirm that you have that card. I would think you do, so here is the link:

I wish to update my video card. I have Intel(R) 82945G Express Chipset Family(EVEREST home edition told me so.) Now, I am not sure what my current driver is, or how to find out. What I do know is I have 128 MB Video RAM, I do have 3D, and my pixel shader version is 2.0

However, I have no vertex shader, or Hardware T&L. I should mention here the game I want to play is Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, but I do want to update my video card in general.

Are any drivers available that will update this video card? Or must I get a new one?

I have the Dell Precision M90 with the QUADRO FX 2500m, The laptop was originally windows xp professional x32 so I decided to upgrade to windows 7(it met the requirements) I used it for a LONG time that way and then I wanted to install adobe after effects cs6 but needed x64 bit windows. So I upgraded and tried to get the driver they had for windows vista x64 3500m but of course it didnt work   So I then tried the x32 bit drivers for the 2500m but it didnt work either. Nvidia does not supply drivers for the 2500m so I was wondering how I could get the drivers I need. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

honestly, ive never been so happy about my computer in my entire life. For the past 3 years i have been searching and searching for the best drivers without anyside effects or flaws with them. Honestly, ive had my gf3 ti200 for about 1 year now. I tried every drivers i could find with it but everything had a flaw. Then i found these beauties, the nivida dets for win xp 29.42. Immediately I was suprised that i hadnt found a flaw within 5 minutes.

Now to this date ( about 7 months) i have never found one thing wrong with these drivers. I refuse to update them, even try them. Nothing could ever be better than these drivers.

anyone else feel this way about a certain video card drivers or anything else?

A:best video card drivers ever?

You've been hurt before by video drivers Nick. It's a sad, sad tale but we all have. It's time for you to love again .. and in turn trust again. You're friends say "not all drivers are like that" or "you just need to find the right driver" .. "theres plenty of drivers in the sea" etc.

You get my point. Detonator drivers are the best out there. Rock solid stable and performance results you can actually see and quantify. Try out the new 40's, you won't be disappointed and if anything you could go back to the 29's.

I feel your pain dude .. but don't sell your card short .. you deserve better. Try out those 40's!!

Have you installed the program (video driver's .exe or setup file by double clicking it? Most have to be run like any program installation first...
Next, if the driver program installs OK, right click any empty area of your desktop, select "Properties", then "settings" and then "advanced" look for the "Standard PCI grahpics adapter" and for the "CHANGE" tab.....pop that open, it will ask for software, point it to the folder drivers are installed to, click OK and all should be well. You may have to adjust your screen resolution, and color bit settings....standard screen area for win98 is 800x600 and 16 bit color is usually what is used, but there are higher settings, and good old 256 colors..

Okay This is a lot easier than you think. is your computer a specific model from a specific manufacturer? Dell i assume?
Also what type of install here? Like original the way u bought it? or clean install?(removes the crapware the companies put on the pc. but you could lose certain things.)

Download and install CPU-Z, or a similar program. It's small and when run will examine and present a list of information about your computer. You should be able to get the information you need from that list. With that information you should be able to go to the appropriate website and download the driver(s) you need.
