Acer Aspire 7740 battery gives only 2 hr. use off power.

Q: Acer Aspire 7740 battery gives only 2 hr. use off power.

Clearly something wrong with the battery on my Acer Aspire 7740 laptop. Preloaded with Windows 7, 64-bit o.s. [would love to get rid of that]. Battery, which is always fully powered, allows only 1 1/2 to 2 hrs use off power. Transformer is functioning, connection to laptop is good. I have a lousy battery, right? This product is under warranty, was purchased about 4 months ago.
Lots of problems. Have attempted to work with Acer support, but the communication is not only difficult, but virtually useless. Most of the time they can't understand the problem.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I bought a new battery for my acer laptop 7740 and computer now says battery not recognized. Does someone know a solution for this?

A:acer aspire 7740 laptop battery not recognized

Since we don't know the description and specifications of that laptop's original battery and replacement battery, it's difficult to answer your question.
I'm guessing you have an Acer Aspire 7740 laptop that came with Windows 7 or 8, 32-bit or 64-bit.

What's the complete model number of that laptop?
There should be a dash and additional numbers after 7740 that comprises the complete model number.
What's the serial number and/or SNID number on that laptop?

How would I know if I need to replace drivers, battery, or whatever on my laptop?  Sumbit something to print and it either prints a half page and stops or doesn't print at all (but if I shut down the laptop, when I turn it back on later and sign in the printer then prints the file).  Any help would be appreciated as I'm just short of replacing this laptop before something really serious occurs.  Thanks, TK

hi there,

I have a Acer Aspire E1 570 laptop that I use for college, the laptop is less then 8 months old. For some reason recently it starting going dead at 40% battery charge remaining. I ran a powercfg -energy from the command prompt and it said that my batterys designed charge is 37000 and last full charge untill the battery read it was fully charged is 36526. If some one would happen to know why this is happening that would be great, as i use the laptop on the battery all the time while i'm at school. I was thinking maybe just refresh the PC from the recovery i made using the provided software with the computer. I'm unsure if that would correct the issue. As well as i haven't found anything on google for this issue on my laptop.

Thanks

I would contact Acer, since the laptop is still within the warranty period. There are programs out there that can "fix" errors like this. Most likely you just have a bad battery pack in your laptop.

I replaced the DC jack on an Acer today with a new one. When the laptop has the battery in the power LED shows a power source(unfortunately the battery is dead). When I remove the battery and plug in the charger to the new DC jack, no LED. Hitting the power button results in a flash from the power button light and power LED for an instant but no POST or boot. I tried different chargers as I have a few universals laying around so that's not it.....What's the problem?

A:Acer Aspire 5742 no power from dc jack, replaced it, still no power

Maybe not enough power on my acer laptop the charger says the output is 19 volts 3.4 amps and it runs fine without the battery installed, When I dont have the battery installed and the charger pluged in there is no indication that the changer is indeed plugged in and also when I turn it on I usually press the button just a bit longer to turn it on

Yup, that's it. So the battery is internal, but I'd like to go over a power reset just to make sure.

It will be a bit tricky, but hit the battery pin hole reset with a paperclip or something similiar. You should feel a pretty definitive recession when you push on it. If you can, hold the power button for 10-30 seconds and then try.

If that fails, I'd recommend contacting your local service team as I can't think of any other troubelshooting and I suspect that the battery has failed.

That is normal if you are have power settings to high performance on battery. if you have power settings to power saver mode, then it is a little short of life.

You don't need to take out the battery as there's a built in mechanism to turn off charging once the battery fully charged, if you insist on removing the battery, you need to take off the back cover and removing the battery similar to the model in the link below. You need to remove the service hatch( for HDD and RAM) first for your model.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZHJhiwxsWWMhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dXNKOkdrEhI

To help you understand, what type and size of the battery is required for your laptop, you can check it by removing the battery from the back side of the laptop.- To do this, first of all please make sure you turned off the laptop and the power connections.- Now turn the laptop to the back side and pulled the clips to remove battery, which is the only removable part from the outerside.- Now you can check the specification of the battery and find it online on the manufacturers website.- Your battery is of 4400 mAh Capacity, 6-cell.- Ac adapter input is AC 120/230 V (50/60 Hz). Hope this will help you.

Hello, how much is duration expectancy before battery must be recharged for this model? I know it depends of what are you working, but my battery is empty after little more than one hour of usual work (internet browsing, no multimedia). I am on balanced power profile and not on full performance. Nothing working in a background. I even installed SSD. This was the case with the first battery when I bought my device five years ago and today I bought new battery with even more capacity and the short time of usage still remains.

Hello,

I have an ACER Aspire 3680 laptop. About 1 year ago, I purchased an OEM battery (compatible based on number match) to replace the manufacturer's battery that had stopped charging. I installed the battery, plugged in the AC adapter and turned on the computer. Once fully booted, the battery icon said "Battery not found". The laptop works as long as it's plugged in to the AC adapter, but powers off immediately if the adapter is removed.

I'm not sure if this is a hardware issue or a software issue. My thought is that it might be solved by updating a driver, but it could also be that the hardware that converts the AC to charge the batter is defunct.

I appreciate all suggestions!

My Nephews laptops battery ran low and required charging. When the charger is plugged into the laptop the orange 'charging' light illuminates for approximately 6 seconds then, goes out for a further 6. This repeats continuously whilst the battery remains flat and the machine will not power up.
I have checked the output from the charger which is constant although I have no means, at present , of ascertaining the actual output values.

So the laptop will not turn on at all? Does it act the same if you remove the battery? If not the the adapter may be faulty, the DC jack in the laptop may have broken, or there's a motherboard failure in the laptop.

Testing with a known good and compatible power adapter would be the next step.

How old is the laptop, is it still under warranty?

Posted about this a while ago, re the battery on the above laptop draining really quickly, lucky if it lasts an hour. Only 5ish months old. Also I have noticed it gets really quite hot. Not been on it for long and already the outlet is hot and the underneath is also hot. All I am currently doing is watching a Youtube video and on here. Any ideas?

Thanks

I just bought the Acer Aspire Nitro VN7-7i91G laptop and windows 10 is reporting 0% charged.  The battery is fine, if I unplug the laptop it continues to run for a few hours before the battery is drained, and when I plug it in the organge light is on and it charges up just fine.  While charging windows shows that it is charging, but it is always showing 0%.  I thought flashing the bios maybe might fix the issue, however as the battery is reporting 0%, I am unable to do so - the bios flash utility I downloaded will not let me do that with a battery that is reporting less than 15% charge.  While it is not the worst situation as the battery is working fine, I would like to have it reporting more accurately.  Any ideas on how to fix this?

I have 2 Acer Aspire 9300 5349 PC and bought new batteries. The original batteries were 11.1V 6 cell 4000 mAh (model LIP-6198QUPC SY6) and should also take the 8 cell 14.8V 4800 mAh. When I insert this battery the indicator light flashes from green to orange and doesn't detect the battery. The battery also doesn't recharge. I also bought a 14.8V 4400 mAh battery that does exactly the same. The original still work, but only lasts a few minutes. Is it perhaps the charger that's not suitable for the higher 8 cell voltage? (Model PA-1900-04 Output 19V 4.74A) Please advise!

I have an Acer Aspire V5-472P laptop. My problem is that the battery indicator on the taskbar is malfunction. It stays "100%" at least until 2-3 hours and now the battery life ends at around 50%. Before this, it was around 20% then 30% then 40% and now 50%! It just keeps on increasing and I don?t know what the problem is! I have changed the advance power settings. There should be a warning for low battery but there?s none! I feel like the battery life is getting lower too. Is there something wrong with my battery power apps or something? Or is it a BIOS problem? Or something else?

Hello. I recently bought an Acer Aspire 7750G. I noticed that when I tried to charge it the battery level would simply stay where it was and would not increase. I put this down to a faulty battery and am now using a new one however the issue remains and it will not charge past 7% even with a brand new battery. I am hoping this is a false reading and not a serious hardware fault. Any assistance in troubleshooting this issue will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. EDIT: After draining the batter and leaving in on charge switched off for a while it is now stuck at 0%. EDIT2: For a moment it chnaged to "plugged in, not charging" but I fixed that by following the steps I found in another thread on this site however it still wont charge past 1%.

I just bought a new battery for my Acer aspire 5570 from ebay. Its only charges for 20 minutes and windows power management detects it as a Unknown battery, and my Acer power management software says the battery is at 0% and does not go into sleep mode anymore.

Is this a battery problem or a software problem ... my old acer battery is at 50% capacity in about a year now and i really hope this problem is solvable or ill be permanently tethered to a outlet ....

A friend asked me to look into why his Aspire One (P1VE6, 722-0879) doesn't power up. The transformer is putting out 19v so I assume it's okay. But with the transformer plugged into the netbook there's not a flicker of life after pressing the power button, regardless of whether the battery is installed or absent.  One possibility is that the battery is dead, and a battery must be present for the netbook to power up. Can anyone confirm if a working battery must be present for an Aspire One to power up?  Thanks.

I have an acer aspire 5920 laptop and have had a problem with the battery not holding a charge from within a few months of purchase. Also, and I'm not sure if this 2nd problem is related, but the machine is unable to keep the time and date - it keeps reverting to a date (and incorrect time) in April 2007 (possibly the date of manufacture). Hi guys,

I've got my uncle's Acer Aspire 5536 that I am having some trouble with. He said that the laptop just decided not to work.

When I press the power button absolutely nothing happens.
When I plug my charger in, the power button lights up blue and so does the battery light (Orange when was charging, now blue).

There is still nothing happening when I press the power button though.

I've tried taking the battery and charger out and holding the power button for a few minutes then connect the charger, to no avail!

I popped the casing above the keyboard off to make sure that the power button wasn't just stuck. All seems fine.

Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated!
Thank you

My laptop, aspire E1-510P will not power on. A blue light will come on for a few seconds then it shuts off. What is the problem & What can I do to fix it?

A:My acer aspire E1-510 will not power on

On Acer Aspire notebooks, blue light indication has different meanings depending on whether you are using your laptop on battery or by connecting it to a power adapter. To know more, the following link can be helpful:http://acer.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/9674/~/how-does-the-battery-indicator-light-on-my-a... In your case, it is recommended to check if there is any issue with the battery. To do this, remove the battery from your laptop and connect the laptop directly to power adapter. If the laptop works fine now, there may be some issue with the battery. To confirm this, you can try using another battery (if possible) and see if that resolves the issue. Hope this will help you.

Hey,
So I have an Acer Aspire 5830TG-6659 that doesnt power up. When the AC adapter is plugged in, none of the lights are lit. Warranty expired so no returns. Yes the AC adapter works, tested with multimeter and with another laptop. I'm thinking either a faulty motherboard, loose connections, or a fried motherboard... I have opened it up and cleaned it and looked for any loose connections but nada.

Any suggestions?

A:Acer Aspire 5750 No Display But Led Power is Ok

I very much doubt it's a Bios problem. This may or may not work.Remove the power cord and battery, hold the power button down for 60 seconds. Plug in and try.

Hi,
I'm going to be very quick and blunt. Mainly because I'm annoyed.
There was a power outage last night.
My laptop had been plugged in, but plugged into a almost industrial surge protector.
A while later I remembered to check on my laptop.
It had frozen solid, and would not shut down, even by holding down the power button.
For some reason, the laptop did not go into autohibernation upon low battery.
Now, when I tried to turn the laptop on, the computer clicks in, as it usually does.
However, the screen appears to be off completely even after I power on the computer.

Can anyone help?

I bought this laptop in September 2007, then all of a sudden it started giving trouble to power up.

The battery and the charger work perfectly in another Aspire 5100.

I have to really fiddle around with the adapter for the laptop to get AC power, and it wouldn't start up unless the charger is plug in.

Once i get AC power i could power on he laptop fine, remove the adapter from the laptop and it will operate off battery power fine, but it would not start up on battery power, even if the battery is fully charged.

Any help will be appreciated.

thanks.

Actually sounds like the power On switch is faulty not the connection to the battery or power

MyMy Z5761 will not boot up as described in my earlier post. I have told that there are two voltage levels. The lower one powers the lights, the bigher one powers the computer. Is this correct, and if so could the loss of the higher one be the reason why it is not booting up and what can be done to remedy the situation?

When I pressed the button to boot my pc nothing happened, I checked the power supply and all ok even tried an alternative power supply still no better.

However when you plug in the power supply one of the lan socket leds comes on, even though there is nothing connected to the pc apart from the power plug.

Is this a common fault with this pc, would it be some sort of short on the motherboard?

Thanks

Dave

A:Solved: Acer Aspire L5100 no power

Common? No, but hardware fails all the time. Typical cause would be the power supply or motherboard.

I bought my acer aspire one back in March of 2009. A couple days ago, the adapter started to go out on me, and when i move the cord a certain way, it disconnects and goes to battery. If i move it again, it works again.

Considering that i unplug and replug in the laptop at least once every day, is this the average life of the cord or is there something wrong with the cord itself?

My boyfriend s computer kept going to the black screen of death I could go to the Boot order screen but nothing else When I clicked F for BIOS settings it just went back to the black screen of death I found that generally a BIOS Acer BIOS Attempt Aspire One Power No After Flash flash will do the trick so I started following the instructions I formatted a memory stick loaded the files needed and properly named I turned the laptop off stuck the memory stick in held FN amp Acer Aspire One No Power After BIOS Flash Attempt Esc pressed the power Acer Aspire One No Power After BIOS Flash Attempt and let go of FN amp Esc I was super happy when the power button started flashing Here is where I messed up-big time I had two sets of instructions that were pretty much the exact same except one said that when the power light started flashing to push it and the other said not to I chose the wrong set-I pushed the power button and it shut off I thought maybe it would come back on in a few minutes by itself but Acer Aspire One No Power After BIOS Flash Attempt no luck So I went to start it over thinking this time to not push the power button But now it will not turn on at all When I put the battery in the battery light shows orange for half a second and then quickly fades away The same thing happens with the AC adapter Just to make sure I also tried with my own battery same model computer and AC adapter Same thing Tried the non-working computer s adapter and battery on my laptop-they worked fine I tried doing what I think is called a drain by taking the battery and adapter out of the non-working computer and holding the power down for about a minute plugging the adapter back in and pressing power Same thing happened-the orange light top left hand corner that shows that there is power being supplied showed very shortly before fading away Pressing the power button feels and acts as pointless as trying to turn a light switch on when the electricity is off I also tried another version of the drain I found-clicking the power five times while everything is unplugged and then trying Again no luck Please please please help me fix this I can not believe I pretty much destroyed a computer by pressing the power button I am heartbroken nbsp

I have an Acer Aspire 5745-5425 that when charger is plugged in to charge battery, laptop turns itself on, fan comes on, Bios screen loads, then it shuts right back off. Also has orange charging light on, that stays on. Unplug the battery charger and the laptop is dead in the water, Absolutely nothing. I was wondering if anyone might know what was going on with it Have even tried running just off the adapter, with the battery out. Nothing.

My personal laptop has shut down several times after the power button was pressed. In some cases it powers and and boots up to the windows screen or sometimes halfway to the windows screen and shuts down.

I checked with a similar model laptop and confirmed ram, hd, battery, power pack are all working good.

I stripped laptop and cleaned cooling fan, inside cover and heat sink. I even removed the dvd drive and cpu.

After putting back every thing and retested my the fault still persists.

I am suspecting I may have a faulty mb may be caused by a short somewhere.

I really need assistance here to work around this fault to get the machine working properly.

My R13 (R7-371T) DC Power Jack is loose and continues to flip-flop between charging and on battery, despite being plugged in.  This is the second time I have had this problem! The first time it was under warranty, so I sent it in to Acer who replaced it.  Warranty period is now over, but I have the problem again. I do use the laptop quite a bit, probably 10 hours per day, and in two different locations (home and office), so it gets plugged in and unplugged probably four times a day, every day.  But this in itself should not be a reason that it has this problem... Any suggestions on what to do here?

A:Acer Aspire E1-531-4461 Intermittent Power Problem

What you are describing does not sound like normal behavior. It sounds like you have ruled out the power cord and that is good. The only two things that I can think that may cause this kind of behavior is a bad battery, the battery is fluctuating, or as you said the DC jack.

To determine that its not the battery, remove the battery and keep it plugged in and see how it reacts. If the problem disappears then it might be the battery. However, if the problem persists, please contact technical support for further assistance as it may require repair.
