I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I've had Outlook 2010 installed for over two years on my laptop and everything has worked great.

The other day, I tried to set up a new email account and when the wizard appeared, it didn't give me the choice for MANUAL setup. I then realized that the window for the wizard was not showing all the words... the sentences ran past the viewing window and outside where I could not see, which is where the manual set up button was "below". There are no scroll bars or a way to adjust the wizard and I even tried playing with my display settings which did not work either.

I did find a work around that got my email set up but I couldn't go into advanced settings to adjust ports because of the same issue. I've looked everywhere for a fix and haven't been able to find anything... please help!

Can someone please tell me how to set up new accounts in Windows Live Mail 2012 and the Windows 8.1 mail app.

I need this info as I am changing my ISP. I am moving and am with Virgin Media but they are not cabled up where I am going and I will be going with Plusnet.

All help much appreciated.

A:Windows Live Mail & Mail App setup

What is the last part of your email address
just the bit after the @

if its virgin - then you will have a problem as virgin will close your email after 90days or earlier

if its not virgin and is currently working - then it should work with plusnet (who are part of BT)

so without the email service you are using its difficult to help set it up

please supply details

I recently installed Windows Live Mail 2012 on my Win 8 machine and have it setup to my liking. Now I want to install it on a Win 7 machine and would like to duplicate the Win 8 setup on the Win 7 machine. How to I go about that without setting up each item one by one? Would it be so simple as to just copy the WLM stuff from the Win 8 AppData to the Win7 AppData?

Thank you very much.

A Windows Live Mail Account pop-up comes on every time I open my Live Mail emails. I went through the List Icon (upper Left corner). This only takes it off temporarily. Comes back later. How do I remove it permanently. At first my email address was in the user space and no password. Here lately no user name in user space. How can I permanently delete. Note: I am 76 yrs. old and new to computers and I thank you in advance Woodsman2

A:Windows Live Mail Account Pop Up

Hi woodsman2, welcome to 7F!

Is this the pop-up?

I don't believe you can delete it. It has to be there to sign-in.

Try inputting your user name and password, Make sure you have the proper email address and password spelling, when complete, click on the Remember me box if it doesn't automatically do it for you.

Be careful when signing-in. there is a forget me link right above the sign-in button, you may have inadvertently clicked that to start this problem you're having. I'm hoping that if you sign-in it will reset the "Forget Me" action.

Can you describe the "list icon" a little better, maybe point it out on this?

If you click on the attachment it may open in a new tab, if you click on it there it might get larger and better to see. This depends on the browser you're using.

If it doesn't go to a new tab or get larger, study it, when done click on the browser back button to the left of the www. address bar to return to your thread.

I have a Windows Live Mail account that I use to access my Comcast email. It has and still is working fine. I added a new email address/account to the Live Mail and when I hit send/receive a small box pops up requesting my username and password. When it comes up, the fields are already populated, so I just click ok. After a few seconds it comes up again asking me the same thing. I have tried deleting what was in there and typing it myself, but that does not seem to work either. Before I created this new email account, this box never popped up. I have made sure that all the information was exactly the same in the new account as the first email account, POP server, etc. Please help. It is driving me bananas.

Hi bevygram and welcome to Seven Forums. OK. When you added this new email did you put a check mark in "Include this account when receiving mail or synchronizing" in Windows LiveMail? Check this by clicking on Accounts right at the top of the page then select the new account and click on Properties. It will be at the bottom of the first page. Don't forget to click Apply. Hello Everyone,

I am setting up my email accounts in Outlook 2016. I always do a manual setup and on my email accounts, I use Exchange ActiveSync.

My questions are this.

What is this new option of selecting Office 365 and when would I use this option? When I did select the Office 365 option and pressed next my outlook would crash, any fix? What is the best selection to choose from when setting up my account that would be great for automatically syncing with my calendar etc. on or apple etc.?

Thank you very much for any help and assistance.

A:Outlook 2016 Manual Email Account Setup, Office 365 option? & Crashes

Manual setup for accounts is absolutely unnecessary, Outlook 2016 does that automatically in a few seconds.

That being said, if you insist in doing it manually the correct option is Exchange ActiveSync. Office 365 option is for so called workplace email accounts, Azure AD / Office 365 for Business or Enterprise users. You select that option only if your organisation uses Office 365 and you want to set up your workplace email in Outlook 2016.

A:Windows Live Mail - Hotmail POP account

Hi David,

Since confirming I successfully added my Hotmail using POP to WLM and tested it, (it worked) it has been removed from WLM as it gets very very few messages.
My settings were slightly different from yours.
On the Servers tab, I ticked 'My server requires authentication'
On the Advanced tab, 'Server Timeouts' was set to 5 minutes & everything below 'Delivery' was unticked.
I have also made changes to my other accounts.
Cancelled forwarding Hotmail to Gmail main account.
Gmail main account used to check my AOL mail account, its been cancelled. mail account forwarded to my Hotmail account.
My other Gmail is forwarded to my Gmail main account.
To get notified of new mail on opening FF, I added
it checks my main Gmail, AOL & Hotmail for me. If their is mail for me in Gmail, I open WLM to read them.
If there is mail for AOL or Hotmail, clicking the addon opens their respective web pages.

I have a domain name which is picked up by Madasafish along with my Madasafish mail and I am trying to get an account set up on new laptop with Windows 10 and WLM. (I am currently using Outlook Express and XP). If I send and receive with my Madasafish details anything addressed to [email protected] will appear in the inbox, but if I try to send and receive with my domain account ie [email protected], I can neither send or receive. (Using the madasafish account I can receive for both accounts, but only send with madasafish). Clearly I have messed up the settings somewhere although I have tried using exactly the same settings as are currently working fine on the old laptop. Please can anyone help with sorting this out?

A:I think someone has hacked my Windows Live E-Mail account

Unfortunately, I don't think you can use the same ID. Every account has a different ID/password combination, and if you try to open a new Windows Live account, you will just get an error message saying that ID is already in use. I think the only thing you can do is to take all of the steps you can to clean up your email account.

Here's some help for you:

First, I suggest you run one or two good malware scans (i.e. Malwarebytes or MSE or TrendMicro) to get rid of any malware in your email account (or anywhere on your system).

Then, follow the steps below, and hopefully there's help for you there.

First line of defense is to change your password and all "secret questions" and "answers."

Then, if hackers have locked you out of your email, go on-line and sign up for the free service in which you give your email provider (i.e. Windows Live/Hotmail, Yahoo, etc.) your cell phone number and they text you a secret code to allow you to get back into your email.

Next, when you do get back into your email, always "log out" of your email when you exit, rather than just hitting the exit X icon. Hitting the exit X doesn't end your email session, only 'logging out' actually shuts it down. If you just press exit, that leaves it available to be hacked because technically, it's still open, even after you've gone.

If nothing above has helped the problem, take a look at these tutorials to see if there is any help there for you:

Since you're using Windows 7 for WLM and OE for XP they can't simultaneously be on the same PC. However both programs can be set up on their respective PCs at the same time; just keep in mind that if you download your mail on one PC you won't see it on the other afterwards unless you choose the option to "keep mail on server".

If OE is working, look carefully at every tab of Account Properties and set up WLM the same way. WLM is the replacement for OE for Windows 7 and will work if set up the same.

I have an email account that has been deleted at the server. I want to keep all the emails both in and out that have accumulated over the past year or so preferably where they are now without exporting elsewhere. At the moment everytime I open Windows Live mail it tries to connect to this email account and I need to cancel the "Confirm password" to bypass the connection. How can I cancel the connection attempt?

A:Retain emails on a cancelled email account on Windows Live Mail

Mitchell mate I have gone over to Thunderbird - it can be configured just like WLM (GUI) and as long as you are keeping your accounts - mine for example are hotmail and the local provider bigpond - TB will import all the mails I used to have in WLM.

I may not be understanding exactly what you want but seeing WLM is being made redundant and I am NOT a fan of Outlook I am now with TB I thought I would try it and it works really very well.

I keep having a issue with MS Outlook amp Windows Live mail I keep getting asked to enter a security code and other personal info that I don't feel I need to give to MS I initially used a code number sent to an alternate e-mail address Live/Outlook blocked access re-verifications Windows account e-mail & I had to open in order to receive the code to verify my current e-mail account I told MS I didn't want to keep doing this anymore and either stop blocking my account or delete it They still persist with requesting my personal info phone numbers creating alternate e-mail Windows Live/Outlook e-mail account blocked access & re-verifications accounts and passwords etc I'm totally confused MS uses this catchall phrase to pump personal info on personal e-mail accounts quot Call us overprotective but we want to make sure your account is secure quot Or we suspect someone quot may be quot trying to access your account Yea me WTH is this really all about I also Windows Live/Outlook e-mail account blocked access & re-verifications have had the same e-mail account for several Windows Live/Outlook e-mail account blocked access & re-verifications years and never had any security issues or problems Personally I think its just a ploy to collect personal info for some use other than to make my account secure Its not like I have a business account with big bucks here for a hacker to make some quick money The giving of personal info should be up to the individual account holder not a requirement by MS Any solutions here Should I save my e-mail account info to a flash drive or something and find another e-mail service provider that is less intrusive If so any other e-mail provider recommendations Or other solutions to circumvent the annoyingly redundant MS account re-verifications - times a month Thanks Vista-Win

I feel your pain - Gmail is just about as bad.

Drop the "service" and pay a small amount for a different service. I switched to - price is very low and service has been fantastic.

I dropped the MS account long ago and cleaned out my Gmail so there is nothing to see. Have to keep it in order to update my Android tablet otherwise I would trash it, too.

I have been using WLM 2011 for a couple of years now. Everything was good until last Thursday. I opened WLM and got an error about login failed. After checking my account settings, I noticed everything was now set up as IMAP. I called my ISP and they confirmed it was supposed to be POP3.

So... can I reset the account back to POP3 without losing my mail?

I did do a system restore back to a point a couple of days before this happened. No change.

Thanks for your help.

I just got finished recovering my email into WIndows Live Update after a hard disk crash. Somehow I now have two accounts that are duplicated. The accounts are listed as Mindspring (uid) (1) and Mindspring (uid). Each account has the 5 basic folders in it: Inbox, Drafts, Sent Items, Junk email, and Deleted Items. I want to delete the redundant account so I don't have to be careful about which account I am using to send, etc. Every email I receive goes into both inboxes.

A:How can I remove redundant account in Windows Live Mail for Windows 7?

I found the answer. There is a menu item to disable an account. Sorry for the time waster...

My Windows Live account refuses to synch with my Mail, Calender & People apps in Metro using Release Preview. I keep getting an error message stating that my [email protected] account is not available. My Facebook, Twitter, Linked In & Google Mail accounts synch without a hitch. My Windows Live account synchs no problem on my Windows Phone, which has Mango installed. I can also access my Windows Live account on my browsers [IE, Opera, Firefox]. Why will it not synch in Windows 8 when it previously did?

Removing the account completely and signing in to the app again does not solve the problem. It makes no difference if I log in using either my Windows Live account or my local account to sign in to Windows 8.

Here's the message I get in top left hand corner of my screen. It says, "[email protected] is not available".

I get a little nauseous just thinking about Windows Live Mail 2011, much less expending effort to use it, but I would try installing it on the Vista and see if it has the option right up front of importing stuff from Windows Mail. If it does, and happens to work correctly, then all you would have to do is find its files and copy them over.

By the way, are you putting on airs with "Addias" transfer? We plebeians just used "sneaker net."

Hello All,

Skipped Vista and went to Win 7 in Dec. Rebuilt system. Decided to use Windows Live Mail. We don't have extraordinary email client needs. But not sure what I may be missing with other free or cheap email clients. (I am an old Eudora user)

Now I have to sign IN to Window Live Mail every time I turn on the program. It does not sign on automatically as checked.

I would like to know all this does for me before I turn it off and close the account..

A:Win Live Mail account question

As long as you do not choose the Connection Option to "Stop Signing In" it should sign in automatically. Try a repair: Programs and Features, highlight Windows Live Essentials, click on repair and in the next window choose repair. It will repair all installed parts of Essentials, including Mail. (This is also needed in 2011 to fix a bug with the Junk Mail filtering.)

You may also notice that your contact list will differ depending on whether you are signed in or not.

In WLM, click on Mail (bottom left).
Then right-click on the account you wish to remove, select "Remove Account".
This will also remove any messages under that account, so if you wish to save them, move them to a Storage folder first.

Since MS took away outlook I have been setting up Live Mail. When trying to send a picture I've been getting a "Windows Live Error 80070057"

A little bit of Googling and it seems that others have made this error go away by creating a Live Mail account.

This ruffles my feathers. If we have an account with our ISP WHY are we being forced to create a Live Mail account...OK I think I know why but I don't have to like it.

Has anyone found a way around this?

My mum has got a new computer, and it has Vista on it and therefore has Windows Live Mail. She is used to outlook express and I just check my emails from a website rather than a programme like this, so i am not accustom to them. Live Mail will not let her sign in to her account. It says the email or password is incorrect. Both are correct as they will work on the website. I have checked all the property setting and they are correct and even tried setting the incoming settings to private as suggested on the website. I have now noticed it will send emails if i go to start then hover over windows live mail, then select send new message. This will send a message from her email. Yet when Live Mail is opened up it and send and receive pressed it says password/email incorrect.
Any suggestions please.

Under Tools is Message Rules. You can create rules that can move incoming mail to whichever folder you want.

With Outlook Express I had five (5) e-mail identities (addresses), each with its own unique Address Book. With WLM I have only one address book used by all 5 identities. Is there some way that WLM can be set up so that each identity has its own unique Address Book?

I previously asked if I purchase a Lab Top computer for my wife and install Windows Live Mail on her computer. Can she access her mail and then if she deletes, will iot also delete her mail on my Desk Top. I got reply from "C141" who said yes. Today I was at Office Depot looking for a lap top and told the sales person what I wanted to do. He said that if she deletes her e-mail it would delete on hers, it still would be on my desk top? Any further clarification would be appreciated.

Both are right. IMAP mail will sync across devices. POP mail must be managed manually.

I am migrating from an XP SP3 desktop to a Windows 7 64 bit machine. I use Outlook Express extensively on the XP machine, but have loaded Live Mail on the W7 one as the recommended solution.

I have experimented with the Import function in Live Mail using the .dbx files produced by OE held under 'Identities' but find that the Account field for each email (visible in Live Mail when the Account column is enabled) is not being populated in Live Mail. Am I doing something wrong, or is this a bug? I note that any new emails I receive do populate the Account field, and I am confident that the Account information is present in the .dbx files.

I would like to find a workaround for this problem - any ideas folks?

Many thanks

I suppose you could call it a bug. It seems to happen whenever you do an import using the "import/export" "wizards". Not just with OE>WLM but also WLM>WLM. (Same with Vista's built-in WM.) It's been too long for me to remember what happened when I last did OE>OE. Keep in mind that wherever an import/export is involved (even with contacts), some fields are lost.

Just got a new laptop and am getting to know Windows 7! I have used outlook express for years and was bummed to find out it no longer existed. I found windows live mail 2011 on my laptop and have imported my csv address book. My problem is creating groups. Can you even do it? I have been scouring the web and Microsoft's site, they are no help. I am not using hotmail. I use gmail. Thanks for any help.

A:Solved: Windows Live Mail 2011

If you mean a "Distribution List" type of group, they are Category in Live Mail.

Go to "Contacts", then "Category", there add a Category name and the select who, from your Contacts list, you want in the list. OK yourself out.

A:Solved: firefox 3 and windows live mail

its a known issue with no fix as of yet. Best guess is Hotmails browser "sniffing" is reporting an unknown browser. It'll probably be addressed before to long but for now if you use FF3 you'll be stuck with the classic interface.

Welcome to TSF!

This is actually a security feature of Windows Mail to help protect you.

You can go to the top of the mail messesage and select show images or add that sender to the safe sender list to always get the images.

If you really want to disable that protection, you can go to the Home tab and select the arrow under Junk and select Safety Options.

Then under the Security tab, uncheck the box next to block images....

I hope this is in the right forum.

I have just got my new W7 system running, thanks to those who helped by answering my many questions. The only issues I am experiencing so far are with Windows Live Mail 2011.

I have managed to import all my existing e-mails from Windows Live mail on my XP system, but I can't move them from the storage folders to the inbox. Is this normal or have I missed something? Also I can't get WLM2011 to remember my Font preferences or to empty the Deleted Items folder when I exit. Previous iterations of WLM had a Tools tab but I can't find a similar function on the 2011 version.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi -

WLM 2011 info - Import your e-mail, contacts, and calendar into Windows Live Mail

The new 2011 installation should download emails from your previous WLM installation assuming same email accounts are used.

In Windows 7, WLM folder = C:\Users\PalmDesert\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail

Try and copy the WLM folder from XP to the Windows 7 WLM folder.

WLM 2011 Tools settings - click on blue icon, select "Options", "Mail" -

Hope this is posted in the right forum. Sometimes I can print an e-mail message in Windows Live Mail and it prints with no difficulty. Other times, the text will run off the right side margin and I will then have to reduce the size of the mail percentage so all of the text will print. Then, the text is so small I almost have to use a magnifying glass to read the message. What am I missing or is this just collateral damage from using web based mail?

Does anyone have any idea what I can do to correct this?

While attempting to compress and email some photos I have seen some bizarre behaviour from WLM2011.

If I select a few pix and elect to send them to an email recipient, instead of simply asking if I want them made smaller, WLM2011 tries to invoke the use of Skydrive and then wants me to log on to a Hotmail account.

Now every time I open WLM2011 it also opens the Hotmail login popup.

Surely there is an easier way to compress a few pictures so I can email them?

I have used the Zip function which works quite simply, is this the answer, please?

A:[SOLVED] Windows Live Mail 2011

Zipping is what I use from Windows Explorer.

Otherwise, while in WLM, you can attach or insert pics.

This thread may provide other ideas - How to disable Skydrive and photo album in WLM 2011

A:Trouble importing Windows Live Mail to Windows Live Mail

Name a folder in my documents. Call it Windows live mail backup
Make a sub folder call it backup
Click on options/ email
Click on export mail
It should pop up with all the folders, in box etc.
highlight each folder. You will have to do it with the crtl key because using shift key sometimes does not work
It will then give you a browse where to put it. Put in the backup folder you made. Them copy and paste the folder onto the flash drive
On the new computer you will do the same thing bit you will pick import instead of export

Windows Live Mail (one account)
Until recently all email messages received appeared in the inbox of the email account. However, recently some of my emails do not appear in my inbox even though I can see that emails are being downloaded. I have not set up any filters to block email messages and indeed some of the emails that "disappear" are from friends in my Contacts. One further quirk, the messages that do not appear in my inbox DO appear briefly in Quick Views but then they disappear immediately after they are viewed. Can anyone help me solve this problem?

A:[SOLVED] Windows Live Mail Erratic Behaviour

Taking into account these e-mails are from your contacts, are you sure the new e-mails are not being grouped with old e-mails from them? Try looking in a previous e-mail from them and see if a new one is there, a bit like 'conversation' mode. You can try this by getting a friend to e-mail you twice to see if you get two e-mails or they are group.

Also, try:
> Click on the View tab,
> Click on the Conversations button/drop down,
> Change the value to Off by clicking on off.

Hello: I recently learned that Windows Live Mail is supposed to be the Up-Grade from Outlook Express in XP and Vista. I have a 2005 HP Media Center PC running xp Professional with a 250 gb hard-drive. I've upgraded the memory to 2 Gigs. My question is, Can I download and install Windows Live Mail without effecting Outlook Express and all of the emails that I've saved to various folders within the "Local Folders" of Outlook Express? My reason for wanting to make this upgrade is that recently I un-installed the Microsoft works 2003 standard version that came pre-loaded because It was only a 60-day trial version which I had not purchased the product key for. What I didn't realize was that Outlook Express was set up to use the Spell Check function from the Works 2003 program, and now Outlook Express has no spell-check functionality. Thanks for Your help on this matter, I'll wait for Your reply.D.J.L

A:[SOLVED] Questions about upgraging to Windows Live Mail

Welcome to TSF.

I was running Outlook Express as you are, had a glitch in my OE signature, so downloaded and installed Windows Live Mail then imported all the OE folders over to it. No problems at all with doing this in my instance.

I did this some time ago, I am not certain, but I do think during the installation of Windows Live Mail you are given the option to import all your data over to WLM.

Let us know how you proceed.

I know there have been a number of posts on this subject, and many variations on the theme... so, sorry if this is redundant.

I had the unpleasant surprise of learning that it may be impossible to enjoy the same level of synch that I had before between the iTouch and Outlook (2002) under XP (SP3).

Now, all I find is that there SEEMS to be a way to get from Outlook Express (which I don't have) to Windows Live Mail, but even that looks questionable.

So, I am looking for some fresh advice on how to solve this. I mean, it is a popular combination, to have an iTouch interacting with Outlook, but I have not seen the magic bullet yet.

Any advice appreciated. Thanks!
