I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I would go for either the H87 or H97. It is really your choice in the end but all of the ones listed are good. ASUS, Gigabyte, and Asrock are all good board manufacturers.

A:Unable to set up Nvidia GTS450

The way that I have always done is go to Nvidia site and get the latest driver for your card. Save it to somewhere that you can find easily.
Next uninstall your existing driver and any other programs linked to it then shutdown the computer.
Remove existing card and install new card.
Boot computer and when it sees new hardware, go to the driver file you downloaded and install it.

This has always worked for me and is also the way I update drivers (without removing hardware)

I don't have a big budget, maybe about ?400. I only have a basic laptop (games like TF2 are my limit), so I won't understand anything about graphics cards and processors. Just tell me if it's good or not and give me an example of what it can run.

I like someone to suggest me an anti-virus for gaming except Avast because for some reason, it considers League of Legends as potential malware and deleted a part of it where I can't see the loading screen. The client of LoL is still intact, I had to uninstall and reinstall to fix this issue. Please don't suggest Avast.
-Thank you in advance.

A:Suggest me an anti-virus for gaming?

Which type of antivirus are you looking for? Free or paid?If you are using free then I recommend Microsoft Security Essentials. For paid version, the best one is ESET NOD32 - it has the additional advantage of low resource consumption.

I have a desktop with Intel i5 2nd generation processor. But I have a weak graphics card called ATI Radeon HD 6250 which I discovered that it isn't great for gaming. I thought that 1GB VGA will be sufficient but I wasn't aware about the APU in VGAs. I have bought two ATI products and I am not happy with it. I am planning to move on to nVidia. People suggest me 540m but I am not great with graphics card since there are loads of models with variety of specs. Please someone help me with finding a decent nVidia card that is around $50 to $100. Thanks!

For a motherboard, how about the one I am using (see my specs) ? It supports your current CPU, and also has Realtek audio, drivers for which are readily available.

Alternatively, since that board uses DDR2 (and you already have DDR3), take a look at this: Again, it uses Realtek audio.

OK this is just to ask your opinion on my next motherboard.

I'm presently running Win7 Ultimate 32 bit on an ASUS motherboard P5N-E- SLI
I have an Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 running stock 2.66 GHz

My next processor will by an i7 Intel Quad processor (socket LGA1156)
I expect to have at least 4 gig of memory DDR 3 or 4
Only use 1 graphics card & I'm NOT a gamer.
All my HD are SATA and plenty of room.

So with this information what would be a good quality MB?
I have Gigabyte is a good quality manuf. Any suggestion would be helpful.

I've read Quadro's are stable and highly recommended for CAD, etc workstations (not for gaming) and gaming cards are obviously better for gaming. I am looking to setup two separate dual output video cards in a new machine. It will be used primarily for streaming real time financial info/web surfing (no CAD nor any 3D modeling) with a secondary use of gaming (not important for me to run top games at top resolutions-average is fine). Should I look at getting Quadros or game cards. I am leaning toward the game cards like Nvidia 8600GT, etc as they are lower price and seems like if they can run games fast/no problem-why wouldn't they easily be able to handle business applications? Quadros seem to cost more and can mainly only be used for business apps?

A:Nvidia Quadro vs Nvidia gaming cards

Quadros are for Digital Content Creation and CAD purposes mainly. For you, a pair of 8600GTs would be fine.

I recently got an Asus 1GB GTS450.
It seems to be working fine with my 400Watt psu.

However on the box of the card it says it needs a minimum 450 watts.

Should I upgrade my psu? my card seems to work just fine.

Thanks for the help.

A:Question regarding Asus GTS450

Hello there, markvis14!

It depends, the manufacturer recommends a 450w power supply for the entire system... if your PC doesn't have a lot of drives (physical and optical), a lot of cooling fans, LED lights, and you're not OC'ing your system, I don't think it's completely necessary to upgrade your PSU.

Other thoughts: i don't know what brand is your PSU, hence, i don't know if it's 80 plus certified, generic, don't know its amperage rating on the +12V Rail. There are a lot of factors.

400w i'd say it's a little tight. If you bought a ~110$ GPU, the least you could do, it's to chip in another ~60$ for a decent PSU.

Here: - Antec BP550 Plus 550W Continuous Power ATX12V V2.2 80 PLUS Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Here: - Antec EarthWatts EA-650 GREEN 650W ATX12V v2.3 SLI Ready CrossFire Certified 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

I'd recommend the EA-650. 60$ and 650W of pure 80 plus bronze power

As far as I am aware, you can install the operating system and re-download the driver from, shouldn't be any issues as MS will have preloaded drivers built into windows (WDDM) anyway, take the plunge and just re-download the driver, should be fine, as you've pointed out, the power supply was the issue previously.

I bought my GTS about Fan on Auto working not GTS450.... speed months ago Didn't seem to have any problems with it for the first few months Then I started getting alot of TDR's while playing Dungeons and Dragons Online but only in certain areas Then I got Sims Medieval and I started having the same problem in that game Also in Fallout New Vegas I noticed during this time the GPU temp seemed high to me running around C when in one of these games But I looked around on some websites and saw Auto Fan speed not working on GTS450.... a Auto Fan speed not working on GTS450.... post from someone I thought was knowledgeable that newer video cards especially the ones that need the separate power supply plug run alot hotter than ones in the past so I dident really think anything of it after that After this problem became so pervasive I was getting TDR's like every - mins for a stretch while running some games I decided to come in here and post about the problem I came to find out I was having a memory issue because I had x GB sticks but they were matched in pairs one was Kingston and one was OCZ and so far I haven't been able to get them to work happy together So for now I am going to stick to just the two Kingston sticks which get no errors in Memtest after passes So now I have good running memory with no errors but the problem still persisted I tried looking around again for info about nominal and peak temps for my GPU but I could not find any clear information So I decided to see if I could resolve the problem I noticed that there was a supplemental utility from Nvidia that lets you control alot more of what your GPU settings and info is so I installed this I discovered that the default setting for the card is an automatic control of the fan speed and it starts at RPM I tested it with the GPU monitor during games and it never moves from and the fan RPM never moved from about RPM I always thought it was running faster when my temp was going up but it was still so quiet that I couldn't hear it So now I have come to find out that in automatic mode for some reason my fan speed never changes So my main question here is Why As far as I know there is nothing else on my system that is controling my GPU fan speed I tried manualy setting it at - and I can definately hear it now louder but still not annoyingly so The main difference is though that if I set it manualy at about my GPU temp never seems to go above C even when running I have found some tools in the Nvidia system tools program that let me set rules for the card about when to raise the fan speed when I start a particular game but it seems like sometimes this works and sometimes it does not The only thing that seems to work consistantly is if I set the fan speed manualy at after I have rebooted so when I go to play some games It keeps the GPU cooler and I do not have this problem with TDR's anymore So anyone have an opinion on why the automatic setting on the card isn't working and apparently has never worked even before I got the Nvidia system tools And also any opinions on simply leaving the fan speed set at constantly

Hello Dr. Welcome to the Forum.

It sounds like a failed video card. But you should check to eliminate other simple reasons before replacing the card.

A graphics card can also fail due to insufficient power, overheating, driver conflicts, RAM issues, and connection issues.

Power: check to be sure that the PCI-e power connectors are properly plugged into the card. IIRC the 450 uses two 8 pin connectors. Unplug and re-plug these any make sure they are fully seated.
Check your power supply specs and let us know the Brand & Model, how many total watts, and if you can, the number of Amps it puts out on the 12 volt. It should be 22A or more for that card IIRC.

I think we can rule out overheating, as the error occurs right away. The card doesn't have time to overheat.

Driver conflicts might occur when both graphics engines are trying to run at once. Many modern motherboard's BIOS automatically switch off the onboard graphics when a graphics card is detected in the slot. But you should check.
With the 450 installed in the computer, go into safe mode and navigate to the Device Manager and check to see if only one or both graphics adapters are shown.
If both are shown, choose the on-board adapter, right click, and then DISABLE (don't uninstall).
If that makes no difference, and you can go into your BIOS settings, you could disable the onboard graphics manually there (be sure the 450 is still installed when you do this).
In all cases above you want to see if the system will run the 450 w/o problem.

RAM issues can be tested simply by downloading and running for at least 3 passes. There should not be any errors.

Connection issues are tested by re-seating the video card being sure it clicks into its slot correctly and checking the DVI cable connections.

Try those diagnostics and see if they uncover anything. If not you could just have a dud card. If this is a new boxed system then your best back is to bring it back for warranty repair/replacement.

Hello there I posted on these forums with an issue that I had about a NVIDIA During Gaming Crashing Card/Drivers year ago and you guys were a great help so I thought I would post here again I build myself a gaming computer back in March and have had zero issues with it until a couple of days ago I NVIDIA Card/Drivers Crashing During Gaming bought Dead Space and Resident Evil and they're both having the same issue But no other games When Dead NVIDIA Card/Drivers Crashing During Gaming Space starts up it goes to the loading screen then both of my screens go black for a couple of seconds come back on and then do the same thing once more The whole time I can still hear audio Then the game just completely crashes and I have an error in the NVIDIA Card/Drivers Crashing During Gaming bottom right of my screen that reads quot Display driver NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver Version 'xxx xx' stopped responding and has successfully recovered quot As for Resident Evil the game loads just fine and I can play it But as soon as it gets to the first cut scene in the game it does the exact same thing I can press the escape key to skip the cut scene but where's the fun in that I've included a dxdiag file for my computer specs And I'm running the most recent drivers for my card as well You can also always view my profile and check out my system specs there If any more information is needed I would be more than happy to give it to you guys Thank you in advance I really hope that someone can help me out on this

A:NVIDIA Card/Drivers Crashing During Gaming

I ended up downloading an update for RE6, and now the game runs fine!
But everything that I've searched about DS3 points towards my graphics card/drivers! I'm not really sure what to do about this one, so if anybody would know what my issue is, that would be GREAT!

A:First gaming PC build -- should I wait for Nvidia 600 series?

As you have already found ou, there will always be another "best" or another want... Get it now... Build it now, then use what you learn to design a better one, and sell this build to a friend. Don't wait... or you will wait for a new SSD... or a new Windows 8, or a new Super Duper...

Ok guys I was reading the newspaper today and I found out some advertisement saying that XFX and NVIDIA are celebrating their first motherboard ... Anyone got Info about this motherboard ??

A:Xfx Nvidia Motherboard

I know that the motherboard XFX is offering is exactly the same as the BFG version. Everything is the same, just one has the XFX logo and the other the BFG logo. Not to mention that the boards are different colors. Still up to the soldering spots, the boards are identical.

And thats all I know.

What are the main differences between a Nvidia Quadro type card (like NVIDIA Quadro FX 370 Video Card - 256MB GDDR2-$109) and the various dual output gaming cards out there (for instance the XFX GeForce 8600 GT XXX Video Card 256MB DDR3-$89)? I am contemplating building a new system for stock trading. Nvidia Quadro are used in workstations I know of but gaming cards seem faster and cheaper for same price-I must be missing something? Can you split the outputs of the Nvidia Quadros (ie get 4monitors hooked up to one dual output card with 4 independent windows of streaming data 1each on each monitor?) Thanks in advance...

Picked up a used gaming laptop. Cyberpowerpc.
believe it's a Raven, i7 2.4, Nvidia 675m gpu and 16gbs of ram. Not sure of exact model.

Played perfectly fine for 48 hours.
Next day, went to play and it crashed To blue screen. Video TDR error. Also getting an error of Software denied access to graphics hardware if it doesn't BSOD. Only started having a problem when Windows did some "automatic updates".

things I've tried:
Reinstalling Windows. No change.
reinstalled GPU drivers. No change.
downgraded gpu drivers. No change.

Did the fresh install of 8.1 today, now I can't get it to see the 675m at all.
Any suggestions on what to do next?

A:BSOD when gaming Nvidia 675m no longer detected

I am looking at buying this laptop:

I will use it mainly for gaming. Is it a good choice? It has the NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT GPU. How good is this card? Will it allow me to play any game currently out on the market on all max detail settings on the stock resolution (1680 x 1050)? How far from the top of the line (as far as Nvidia cards go) is this card?

A:Gaming motherboard

an a7n8x (is that what you mean by avn8x?) is the BEST gaming motherboard out there - dont bother with intel boards for gaming - they are several times the cost with a very little performance advantage over the AMD boards. Also a good choise on CPU - if you are going to buy some new ram (which i assume you are) buy DDR2700 (333) Corsair XMS RAM - it is not alot more expensive but considerably higher quality than run-of-the-mill generic ram.
as for the graphics card - i have never like ATi but thats personal - if i say that i would recommend a nvidia card - i would
a) be wrong
b) be shouted down by everyone else on the forums
so.....the Radeon 9700 is a very good choise of card and it is not overly expensive - and everyone else will recommend it - so with all that you should have a VERY good rig

Or if you don't want to play around with rebates:

For $200, you could get a sli board, and a decent cpu, or a non-sli board, and a better cpu, I would reccomend getting the better cpu, because sli is a big waste of money, but it's all up to you.

The i5 2500K is the best CPU in terms of value and perormance. A decent Z68 board with at least 2 PCI-E slots should be good to go.

A:Driver Power State Failure Daily Strikes (Not in Gaming w/ Nvidia)

It appears that the BSOD is occurring while switching graphics between the onboard and dedicated. It happens with nvidia optimus technology, very frequently.

I dont know exactly what to do here, but I am asking for some help from the GPU experts.

But we are seeing SPTD as failing, too; and that is the most frequent BSOD causer.

Daemon Tools, Alcohol 120% and Power Archiver Pro uses SCSI Pass Through Direct (SPTD), which is a well known BSOD causer. Uninstall Daemon Tools at first. Then download SPTD standalone installer from, and execute the downloaded file as guided below :
Double click to open it.
Click this button only:

If it is grayed out, as in the picture, there is no more SPTD in your system, and you just close the window.

A:NVIDIA GO FX 5700, 3rd motherboard in 3 weeks...WTF?

Are you sure the video card was replaced? The Go FX5700 can be a removalable card and maybe they didn't replace it.

But you can try uninstalling and reinstalling the driver. Check the laptop manufacturer's website for a new driver.

Or if they don't list any drivers then try Omega's drivers as they should work with mobility products:

I noticed this a while back too but when I restarted it ran again.

Can someone tell me whats going on and do I need this fan?

I don't see a motherboard temperature indicator anywhere in ntune or anything.

Hello, right now i'm aiming at the Asrock z77 extreme4 it has a nice 8+4 power phase, pci-e 3.0 support, pretty nice overclocking board. The question, is there a better opinion for a bit lower price? I won't use crossfire or sli, so it seems useless for me on this board so if there is a better opinion it can be without sli/crossfire.

A:Choosing budget Gaming motherboard

I go to for a quick look at what's currently available. (Unfortunately, they only do business in the USA and Canada.)

It appears that the best bargain in a Z77 board is the ASRock Z77 Pro3. It has slightly unusual dimensions (30.5X19.3cm, rather than 30.5X24.4cm for a full-sized ATX board), but it's not microATX. I'm not sure what you give up with it, but it has favorable reviews for a "budget" board. At Newegg, it's considerably less expensive than the Extreme4.

I've not used one.

Your motherboard would work fine for sli, I think your motherboard is chip X38 so it is SLI PCI-E 2.0 x16 x2, So i don't think thats the problem, i do believe your psu is not powerful enough for two gtx295's. I would suggest a 800-1000 watt psu, but you will easilly get away with a 800watt psu.

everything sounds good. Of course you can...

That is a micro ATX by its description, and you could make one hell of a gaming system with that board.

The video card you are planning on getting isnt bad either, I'm sure you will be able to run those games with that card.

Here is a list of motherboard that should work for you.

If that link doesnt work, here is a few direct links.

This is the one I might get though.. just my opinion.

Your best bet is to do a system restore to a point before you downloaded Driver Dedective (which is a scam). This will reset most of your software settings to exactly how there were before the problem began.

System Restore

It would appear you have deleted some motherboard drivers.
If you have the original motherboard cd put it in the drive and cancel the auto set-up
In device manager right click on the device with the question mark and click update driver.
From here follow on on screen prompts and point it to the motherboard cd
Windows should find the drivers and install them

Here's the deal: (add the www to see it)

Everything on there seems decent but I am curious about the board itself. Would the Intel Desktop Board DP55WB Motherboard be good for gaming, which I wish to use my computer mainly for. I have at most a 700 dollar budget and this seems like a nice deal for it. I plan on putting a Geforce GTX 580 graphics card in it as soon as I get the money as a little side note if it matters.

I'd suggest looking at the same chipset, but in either Gigabyte or Asus brands. Intel boards are fine, as much as it goes, but the BIOS is very limited as to configuration for different memory, and overclocking options. Intel really markets it's boards as mainstream items, intended for average users and businesses, they're not really aimed at the enthusiast.

The feature set can vary widely from board to board, and you should have a look at these pages to see which board has the capabilities you need;

Asus P-55; 600008216&IsNodeId=1&name=Intel P55

Its specs say that its Front Side Bus is 800MHz or 1000MHz, so can it support a CPU that has 2000MHz Bus? Also, is it good for gaming? cuz i want to put a AMD X2 4800+ on it, and run it for lineage 2.

A:Asus A8N 32-SLI-Deluxe NVIDIA Socket 939 ATX Motherboard/Audio/PCI Express/SLI....

It supports 1000MHz Hyper Transport (2000 MT/s), so yes it does support the AMD X2 4800+ (socket 939).

Yes, it is good for gaming. Not the best board in the world for overclocking, but it is a stabe board with some nice specs. But the question is, if you are building a NEW system, why 939? I'd recommend going for the AM2 if you are sticking to AMD, or even better, a core duo system.

I would hope you uninstalled the driver the 8500GT before installing the 4850. I doubt that it is the LAN driver that is causing the problem. If it helps any I am using a Nvidia based motherboard (NF4) with an ATI x1950 Pro and have never had a problem like the one you are describing (that and my motherboard uses the same drivers yours does).

As far as using both, not going to happen in Vista. You want to use more than one card, they all have to use the same driver, no trying to mix and match ATI with Nvidia.

Hi guys, back after a few months away from this great site/forum.

I have a question regarding the CHAINTECH VNF4/Ultra Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 Ultra ATX AMD Motherboard I was searching all over the web but can't seem to find out if this motherboard will support the new AMD 64 X2(dual core) 939 CPU? It says it supports the AMD 64 & 64 FX CPUs, but what about AMD 64 X2(dual core) 939 CPU?

If anyone here can help me out, I'd be grateful. Thanks.

Most nForce4 based motherboards support such CPUs but not all of them do so out-of-the-box. Make sure to have a motherboard from the latest production batch. If not, it might be handy to have a single-core to flash the BIOS in case it doesn't want to power up with the dual-core one.

Hi all

I hope that admin will allow this to run for a while. I love Windows 7 and have just sold my motherboard, CPU and RAM last night, so today is upgrade day. The situation is that I would like some advice on what to upgrade to. I currently have an extra Intel D965LT motherboard at home but I am unsure if I should use it and go for a higher end Core 2 Duo CPU or if I should buy an entry level Core 2 Duo, but then buy a motherboard that supports Quad Processors. Also, I am unsure how the Intel board will support W7 as looking at their Bios updates it is not showing anything for Vista or W7.

All suggestions will be noted.

Thanks All

A:New CPU, what would you suggest.

core2 duos work great with windows 7. Seriously fast. I wouldn't go lower end, middle to high would be better - you don't want to go low and regret doing it.
As for bios, I'm sure it wouldn't need an update to support windows 7.
