Preferred Solution: Microsoft Issues Hotfix for Internet Explorer Slowdowns

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A:Internet Explorer 8 slowdowns

dawghunter,

This could be caused by a few things. First and foremost pray your computers don't have a Celeron processor. These in my opinion are very bad. Everyone I have came across are slow no matter what you have in the computer or your download speeds.

Second, check your internet security to see what level it is at and allow more active x controls. On this very internet page ill explain how to get to that.

Click on "Tools"
Click on "Internet Options or Properties"
Then click on "Security"

you can lower the security while searching to take out some of the steps it takes while searching. Just be careful on where you search the internet.

Next click on the advanced tab and make sure all the "ActiveX" options are enabled (read through them as some you may not want) if you are not experienced enough to be in this portion of IE8 options it is best left to a computer techician as you can mess some of the settings up.

Last but not least you might have IE8 but not all of it. Click on start and go to "windows update" and see if there is any updates for your computer. Specifically if there is a .netframework download through microsoft. Download all the stuff that they have for you.

Quote:
With the advent of Windows Vista, Microsoft praised the boost in energy consumption efficiency in comparison with Windows XP. Still, there are exceptions to every rule. And while Vista indeed uses less energy over XP, users of the operating system can still experience excessive power use. One such example involves Vista SP2 and earlier during sleep or hibernation, and the HD audio controller, the Redmond-based company explained. The software giant has noted that there are two scenarios in which Vista SP2 sucks more power than it should.

Vista SP2 HD Audio Controller Sucks Power Even During Sleep or Hibernation - A hotfix is available from Microsoft - Softpedia

I'm trying to contact Microsoft the Hotfix since I use HD Audio Controller on my laptop, and I went everywhere through Help & Support Center but I end up having to pay \$60 just to send e-mail/chat/phone .

Does anyone know the support # other than what's mentioned above?

Thanks.

Nevermind, I finally got the requested Hotfix in the email .

It renames the High Definition Audio Controller in System Devices to "6.0.6002.22125".

i dont know if im in the right place or not to post this but i was wondering how can i download and get back all the missing hotfixes that i deleted by accident? also do hotfixes have anything to do with my cd/dvd burners not working?

A:Microsoft Hotfix

I dont know if the missing hotfixes are the cause of your cd/dvd problems.

You could try a system restore to a point before you deleted the hotfixes.

If that doesnt work. Just run windows updates again, and the missing hotfixes should get replaced.

I have been been trying to figure this out for a long time now and have made no progress so I'm hoping someone can help.

I have an installer script to install a predefined set of Microsoft hotfixes on a new Windows 7 boxes.  When installing from a network mapped drive with"

"C:\Windows\system32\wusa.exe" "Z:\Documents\OS_Hotfixes\Win7-2008\32bit\Windows7SP1\Windows6.1-KB2559049-x86.msu"

I get an error: Installer encountered an error: 0x80070003 The system cannot find the path specified.

If I run the same hotfix from the local machine:

"C:\Windows\system32\wusa.exe" "C:\Share\HostDocuments\OS_Hotfixes\Win7-2008\32bit\Windows7SP1\Windows6.1-KB2559049-x86.msu"

The hotfix installs just fine with no unexpected errors.

All hotfixes act the same way so it's not this specific one.  I have also run sfc /scannow on the box with no success.

This is a Windows 7 SP1 32 bit host.

Any ideas?

As I read the error, you're trying to access a Z: disk which is not connected.

AMD gave me this update viva link from AMD's facebook page. They told me An update is available for computers that have an AMD FX, an AMD Opteron 4200, or an AMD Opteron 6200 series processor installed and that are running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 is for the 8150 8-core bulldozer. But it just makes my computer freeze up.. Anybody have any ideas if Microsoft put the wrong files on the server?

A:[SOLVED] Microsoft (hotfix) kills machine.

Hi, by freeze up do you mean once the hotfix is installed?

I'll assume so, but generally speaking I've never(personally) seen windows put the wrong hotfix files on the server, so it's likely that either you have the wrong version of the files (x86 instead of x64 or that the files themselves over-write something important)... My advice would be to check AMD's site for the latest hotfixes for the processor(As the fix's description involves quite a few third party files which i imagine are directly from amd)... Also to use windows update directly to check for the latest hotfixes from windows (to ensure that you're not manually installing something that your pc wont like [however i doubt you've done this because usually the installer wont let you])

Could you also clarify the exact model of your processor?

I'd check this personally but i'm running an intel based system. If in doubt roll-back the hotfix and just run the setup that works for you until the next available hotfix comes out (because simply put, sometimes the update procedure doesn't go write or what's being updated shouldn't be being updated or doesn't work and now and then it causes more issues than it was designed to fix)... Also, what was the problem that you were experiencing which the hotfix is designed to fix? i.e. were you definitely fixing an issue and not just updating because it was available?

If you really want to check that the hotfix is definitely the correct file that you downloaded (it could be an issue) then go back to the download site, on the file you downloaded click "show additional information" and get the filesize in bites, compare it to your own downloaded file's size, if it's remotely similar it should be the same. Realistically microsoft should provide a hash to validate the file but i couldn't find one myself, you might wish to try contacting the microsoft support team for a filehash (md5/sha usually) or one might exist on the link that microsoft provided you by e-mail (that's the way it said to download)...

Please clarify the exact nature of the problem (i.e. at what point the system hangs and whether or not you successfully installed the hotfix) and i'll attempt to be of more help.

Many thanks,
Jamey

OS Windows RAM GB My problem all started when I was playing a game on my computer I was playing in fullscreen mode and my game suddenly minimized A console application then showed up with the title tsksch exe it then disappeared too quickly for me to read any of the other text in the application Immediately after that another console application appeared but then disappeared too quickly for me to read I found this strange so I did a full system scan with AVG It came up with one Malsign Opencandy AF and one Malsign Generic still long Manager Trojans Task found, & issues. have shutdowns slowdowns, BB it removed them without problem A few hours later I decided to do another scan to make sure that everything was all clear So I set AVG to do a full system scan and I also selected the Scan Archives and Thorough Scan options This scan came up with threats there was one Malsign Generic EE and six Corrupted executable files it removed all of them without problem I then noticed the next day that my computer was facing severe slowdowns most common just after startup I opened the task manager and noticed that svchost exe was consuming a lot Trojans found, still have slowdowns, long shutdowns & Task Manager issues. of memory and slowing down my computer I had noticed that it would only do it periodically Sometimes it would consume massive amounts of memory I can't remember the exact amounts and other times it would consume a normal amount This meant that sometimes my computer would slow down for a few minutes but then would speed back up after a little while Also over the past couple of weeks I have noticed that my computer shuts down much slower than usual Just today I had a shut down that took approximately three minutes to complete I have also noticed that CTRL ALT DEL doesn't always work and I have to press it multiple times to get the screen to show up and even then I have to click on the Open Task Manager link at least twice to get it to open Just last night I had noticed while in my internet browser that another console app had popped up before promptly closing I can't remember it exactly but the title of this one was something like Delldatalocalbackup exe So this morning I decided to get malwarebytes to ensure that my computer was still not infected because I was still experiencing strange behavior So I did a full system scan it came up with four Trojan Agent GNI They were removed without issue My question is am I still infected and is the behavior that I have experienced normal or suspicious If more details are needed just let me know

I sign on to AOL, click on Win Update and the Microsoft IE states cannot find server, page is unavailable. Just as I an typing this, Zone Alarm pooped up stating there was a update, if you are on-line click here for it. I did and I get cannot find server, page is unavailable. Well, in name only, can anyone say "THIS IS SPARTA!"?

Windows 10's speedy new Project Spartan browser will ditch Internet Explorer name | PCWorld

So Windows 9 becomes 10 and IE becomes TBA. Surely MS realizes that a name change alone won't make it's products any better (of course, they may seem better in the eyes of less-than-bright consumers).

I do have to admit that some people get confused because Internet Explorer and File Explorer sound so much alike.

A:Is Microsoft doing away with Internet Explorer?

It's ridiculous! IE is a perfect browser and I see no reason to change the name or layout.

This unfortunately has the saying "If some people on the internet say its bad, it must be bad right?"

Hi Everyone I'm currently stuck having to use MSIE provided by Yahoo and in my humble opinion that sucker sucks Everytime that I open it it opens to the Welcome To IE page and tells me that I have to set some options which I do then that sucker just flat refuses to save my settings and tells me that my settings weren't saved Having to go through this every time I open that browser has me Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 ready to scream I tried upgrading to MSIE several times but alas all I ever end up with is IE and its welcome page I went into the Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 Add Remove Programs thingy to see about uninstalling IE so that I could do a clean install of IE BUT there isn't any mention of Internet Explorer there at all I also looked in the Add Remove Windows Components thingy to disable uninstall it but that says that Internet Explorer is MB in size I checked it for removal anyway but that didn't do me any good either as IE still wouldn't install and I still got that same IE welcome screen So then I looked in the IE folder in the Program Files and didn't find an uninstall icon there either I even tried to install IE but it wouldn't install because a newer version of IE was detected on my PC Now as I want to kick IE to the curb and install IE my question is quot How how the heck do I get rid of IE quot Do I have to delete the whole Internet Explorer folder or is there something that I missed Edit Moved topic from All Other Applications to the more appropriate forum Animal

1. please don't bold and resize everything. Now for your problem. You cannot uninstall Internet Explorer 7 ... however you can upgrade from IE7 to IE8 simply go here and download & install IE8. If you're still experiencing problems with IE, or want to try another one (generally these are safer, as malware/spyware looks for holes in Internet Explorer) you can download Mozilla firefox, Apple's Safari or Google's chrome

Can anyone tell me if MIE9 has reinstalled to progress bar yet? If not I'll continue to stick with 8. Yes I know chrome firefox etc are better, but I prefer IE.

A:Microsoft Internet Explorer 9

No changes to IE9 aFAIK.

I have IE8 on my dekstop and IE9 on my laptop. Having worked with 9 I am glad I didn't move to it on the desktop. It's tolerable but I prefer 8. I hear IE10 will be an improvement over both so I will probably move to it for both machines.

A:Help in Microsoft internet explorer

Hello and Welcome to TSF

Open Internet Explorer, click Tools>Internet Options, select the content tab, then click "Auto Complete..." Click Clear Passwords, then click Clear Forms. This also clears the address bar.

You can turn off auto complete or parts of it.

Web Addresses: When enabled, this stores a list of web addresses in the IE address bar, so you don't have to type full addresses.
Forms: Stores information on forms within HTML forms, where you enter data to submit to a script.
Usernames and passwords: Stores your usernames and passwords! - If you use this, remember what I said above.

To disable a part, remove the check, to enable a part, place a check by it. To disable it altogether, remove all the checks.
Note: Disabling Auto Complete does not clear the information it previously stored.

When I type the web address in the top of the page where it says address and then hit the green go button, nothing happens. You can see the microsoft flag doing it's thing, but will not go to the site. I have Yahoo as the home page. If I type in the search box on yahoo, it will take me to the page of several options, I click on the one I want, it will then go to the page. What is up with this? Please show me step by step. Thanks.

Hello all I have been having so many problems with this dammed computer that i haven t even been able to introduce myself Internet Microsoft Explorer yet Microsoft Internet Explorer but i will when I get it sorted Basically my problems started a couple of weeks ago when my son inadvertantly introduced a virus through a spammed e-mail My anti virus said that it was a w internet selfstarter and Microsoft Internet Explorer that it couldn t delete it I managed to download system doctor and that is when my problems really started The system slowed to a virtual halt because after a little exploration i saw that the cpu was running at virtually all the time The process causing it was called swdsvc exe which is attributable to system Microsoft Internet Explorer doctor which i subsequently binned and now the system runs so smoothly except when i try to use the internet I use Firefox as my browser but everytime i use it internet explorer keeps loading page after page of unsolicited nonsense and every time i close a page another one takes it place I ve had another look just now and found that i can t delete explorer the system won t let me so what i ve done is to try and disable it by giving it a false proxy server address so it cant make a html connection The fact that at long last i can actually use the internet in peace for the moment anyway might mean that it s worked My question to you good people is this Is there anything else that i can do short of replacing the hdd which i was going to do at the end of the month I am not particlarly savvy with computers as i say it has taken me nearly a fortnight of trying failing screaming and weeping just to get this far I feel that it s nearly there but i will be gutted if it all goes pear-shaped on me again Thanks for any help you can offer

I haven't really had many problems being disconnected anymore, but my connection does seems to slow down severely quite often. In fact, this happens practically every single day. Usually when this happens, I change the wireless channel, reset my modem and router, then reboot, and this solves the problem most of the time. But eventually, I just have the same problem again. And it gets painstakingly slow, too.

A:Wireless router causing internet slowdowns

Your title says that the problem is caused by the wireless router. You know this because the problem doesn't happen when you are connected directly to the modem?

Since you say the problem is the router, have you tried just resetting it and not messing with the modem or computer to get working again?

When I open this my address bar is very long and I want to shorten it. I don't ever remember it being this long before. it takes up the whole screen horizontally! I have made sure that lock the toolbars is unchecked but I am unable to drag the bar to make it smaller. How can I fix this?
Thanks

A:Solved: Microsoft Internet Explorer

When you unlock the toolbar do you have a line of dots like in the image here? Put your cursor over them and drag the address bar to make it smaller.

My computer is infected with viruses/trojans and whatever. I get a number of pop up dialog boxes that have warnings and most often lead to pages recommending the purchase of anti-virus software. I suspect some of the pop ups are legitimate warnings and recommendations from Microsoft but I don't know how to tell the legitimate warnings/recommendations from the adware. Is there a way to clearly identify that a pop up message is from Microsoft security?

I'm running Windows XP with service pak 2 upgrade on HP Pavilion a350n. Thanks.

A:Microsoft Internet Explorer Pop ups/Warnings

Never click those pop-up boxes unless you're sure who is sending them (sometimes they're not even pop-up boxes, but only made to look like they are).

My suggestion for what it's worth. First, completely delete all cookies and temporary Internet files and reboot your computer. Then, if you don't have them, download SpyBot, Ad-Aware, and CWShredder (all free) and run them. They should be a link in the thread Security Help Tools at the top of this page. It sounds like a "Cool Web Search" problem; sometimes it can be easy to get rid of, and something . . . it ain't.

See if using OPTON SIX in the tutorial below to select Microsoft Edge, and click/tap on Set this program as default may help. It will set Microsoft Edge as the default program for all supported file associations.

I've recently been staying at my Aunt's house, and she's been having some trouble with Interenet Explorer. About once every ten minutes or so, Microsoft Canada | Devices and Services opens up in IE, regardless of whether or not she's doing anything at the moment. While I would normally suspect some sort of malware, the fact that it opens to the official Microsoft website suggests that it might be a problem with Windows updates or settings.

She's currently running a Windows 7, SP-1 computer using Internet Explorer 11 (with the latest updates).

Does anyone know how to fix this?

A:Microsoft.com keeps opening in Internet Explorer

That's probably the Home Page (check that). Start by doing using the Disk Cleanup feature built into all Windows machines.

Hello and Welcome. Please subscribe to this thread to get immediate notification of replies as soon as they are posted. To do this click Thread Tools, then click Subscribe to this Thread. Make sure it is set to Instant Notification, then click Subscribe.

Before begining the fix, read this post completely. If there's anything that you do not understand, kindly ask your questions before proceeding. Ensure that there aren't any opened browsers when you are carrying out the procedures below. Save the following instructions in Notepad as this webpage would not be available when you're carrying out the fix.

It is IMPORTANT that you don't miss a step & perform everything in the correct order/sequence.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Google Toolbar gets bundled with Picasa, which I see you do have. You can uninstall Google Toolbar if it bothers you.

Let's see if we can get to the root of your problems. First, I need you to do this:

Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop.

Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
(Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)

Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :Restart your computer
After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear;
Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter.
Choose your usual account.
Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
(Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum).
Finally paste the contents of the Report.txt back on the forum with a new HijackThis log

My copy of Internet Explorer 8 became corrupt and will not work properly. I tried to download IE8 from the web and reinstall, but when I click to execute the file, I get a message that says the install cannot continue because I have a more recent version of IE on my computer. Is there a way to uninstall a bad copy of IE so I can install a good one? I am using Firefox now, which I quite like, but I still need IE for certain applications.

I have a Dell Dimension 8200 running Windows XP. I was running Internet Explorer 6.0 (with updates) and decided to update to 7.0. I have never been able to get the server to answer so I continued to use Mozilla Firefox. Only problem is that sometimes I need to use a Microsoft browser. I finally gave up and uninstalled 7.0 (using Microsoft add/remove). I downloaded the older 6.0 Browser but cannot get it to install as there is some remnant of 7.0 that is still in the system. How can I install Internet Explorer 6.0?

Ok, I am constantly getting these pop ups and they are blank windows and in the top it says microsoft internet explorer provided by compaq, I have tried everything I can think of as far as pop up blockers. The blocker lights up when the window pops up but nothing will stop these windows, does anyone here have that problem?

A:microsoft internet explorer by compaq

I don't have the problem my self but I have 2 thoughts..

1) Trying using a different web browser. Maybe something like FireFox ? I've been using it for about a week now and love it (especially the tabbed browsing). It's way more customizable than IE

Or...

2) Have you tried Installing the Google Tool bar ? When I do need to use IE for the odd site I've found the pop up blocker with the tool bar worked great!

Greetings bee24 and to BleepingComputer's Virus/Trojan/Spyware/Malware Removal forum. My name is Oh My! and I am here to help you! Now that we are "friends" please call me Gary.If you would allow me to call you by your first name I would prefer to do that.===================================================Ground Rules:First, I would like to inform you that most of us here at Bleeping Computer offer our expert assistance out of the goodness of our hearts. Please try to match our commitment to you with your patience toward us. If this was easy we would never have met. Please do not run any tools or take any steps other than those I will provide for you while we work on your computer together. I need to be certain about the state of your computer in order to provide appropriate and effective steps for you to take. Most often "well intentioned" (and usually panic driven!) independent efforts can make things much worse for both of us. If at any point you would prefer to take your own steps please let me know, I will not be offended. I would be happy to focus on the many others who are waiting in line for assistance. Please perform all steps in the order they are listed in each set of instructions. Some steps may be a bit complicated. If things are not clear, be sure to stop and let me know. We need to work on this together with confidence. Please copy and paste all logs into your post unless directed otherwise. Please do not re-run any programs I suggest. If you encounter problems simply stop and tell me.When you post your reply, use the button instead. In the upper right hand corner of the topic you will see the button. Click on this then choose Immediate E-Mail notification and then Proceed and you will be sent an email once I have posted a response. If you do not reply to your topic after 5 days we assume it has been abandoned and I will close it.When your computer is clean I will alert you of such. I will also provide for you detailed information about how you can combat future infections.I would like to remind you to make no further changes to your computer unless I direct you to do so.===================================================Now that I am assisting you, you can expect that I will be very responsive to your situation. If you are able, I would request you check this thread at least once per day so that we can try to resolve your issues effectively and efficiently. If you are going to be delayed please be considerate and post that information so that I know you are still with me. Unfortunately, there are many people waiting to be assisted and not enough of us at BleepingComputer to go around. I appreciate your understanding and diligence.Thank you for your patience thus far. There is evidence of illegal software on your computer. Before addressing your issues I am going to request you uninstall Microsoft Office 15 and all other software for which you do not have a valid Product key (including games). If you are willing to uninstall these programs please do so and post fresh FRST and Addition.txt reports. If you prefer to not uninstall these programs please let me know and I will close the Topic.

As part of its continued quest to be more open and accessible, Microsoft has confirmed some of what it's working on for the next version of Internet Explorer.
Among the features in development are the Media Capture API, that lets Web content manipulate audio and video streams from microphones and webcams, the HTTP/2 protocol, currently being developed by IETF, and Web Audio, an API that lets JavaScript process and synthesize audio. The company also plans to implement a JavaScript feature called Promises that should streamline development of asynchronous scripts.

I've been using MSIE more or less exclusively for quite some time now, but since I've been using IE9 on Windows 7, I've been plagued by glitches that I've grown tired of dealing with. I'd like to keep using IE, since I like its functionality and find it the most aesthetically pleasing browser I've seen. But the glitches are getting me down. Seems like these problems should be fixable. I just need to know where to go to get help.

Thanks...

...and apologies if it's bad form to ask this question here. I just don't know where else to look, and the Seven crowd seems to know a lot about all kinds of things related to Windows.

i have been trying to clean up my computer.....

i went to the Microsoft Update website and i need to update to Internet Explorer 7.0

it goes through all the steps... the installation and download...

but after a good 5-10 minutes of trying to download it says:

the updates were not able to be downloaded

could this be due to the SpyBot program i have running?

i tried to disable it, but i have no idea how.... should i just uninstall it?

I think it has somthing to do with the registry, but I am stumped. Can someone please take a look at my log and see if there is anything I can even try. I have reset IE back to default and it will work again until I reboot. Thank you in advance for your help.Thanks,jay0555

Split from here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/329956/internet-explorer-ads-microsoft-phishing-filter/ ~ OBThough I can't help and am also looking for a solution, I started experiencing the same thing yesterday also with XP and IE. Upon startup the phising filter turn on/off window pops up and I don't know why. it has the added annoyance of somehow disabling my sound card when it does that so I have no sound. If I restore to a previous point my (which I've done a dozen painstaking times so far) sound comes back though when I use IE (I am a regular Firefox user but sometimes use IE) I lose my sound card again. Also, another pop-up appears that asks if I want to make IE my default browser, which it isn't now. These are all new symptoms that started with this pop-up.Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm now tearing my hair out.

Users complain about last week's security updateMicrosoft is investigating reports that last week's Internet Explorer security update has crippled some users' web connection. Users started posting messages to multiple Microsoft support newsgroups almost immediately after Microsoft released the MS07-069 security bulletin on December 11, saying that they were unable to connect to the internet, either because IE refused to open or because when it did open, it could not reach various sites."About 60 percent of the time, I would get an 'Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and must close' dialog,"...both IE6 and IE7 balked at loading, or while loading, some pages, particularly home pages, on both Windows XP and Windows Vista machines...pcadvisor.co.ukEdit in title for Update: Info from MS Security Response Center

A:Internet Explorer Crippled By Microsoft Patch

That's very useful info, quietman7. I've noticed there have been a number of posts here lately from people experiencing just these problems. Would you recommend that folks uninstall that update until such time as a patch or new update is available? Or do you think that whatever security issues it addresses are more important than the problems it apparently creates?

Thanks.

Hello,

My computer was infected with the bravesentry trojan. Somehow while repairing it I encountered another problem. When I am on line browsing I can only open one web page at a time. If I click a link that automatically opens a new page, the first page closes down and on the task bar where it says the open page it says "about:blank microsoft" . So, I think or thought I had the about:blank virus. I have done everything I can find to do.

I posted my Hijack this log file and had it checked and I was told that it is not a serious security issue.

So, now I'm looking for more help. Does anyone know how to repair internet explorer? I have gone to tools and reset everything to default.

Should I reinstall IE?

Thank you for your help.

You should try Eset's online scanner at www.eset.com/onlinescan. Make sure to check the boxes for unwanted applications and tell it to remove threats. That can usually remove malware such as this stuff you are dealing with.

Hello,Let's see what we can find. Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (v1.46) and save it to your desktop.Download Link 1Download Link 2MBAM may "make changes to your registry" as part of its disinfection routine. If using other security programs that detect registry changes (ie Spybot's Teatimer), they may interfere or alert you. Temporarily disable such programs or permit them to allow the changes.Make sure you are connected to the Internet.Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
For instructions with screenshots, please refer to the How to use Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Guide. When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings. When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:Update Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareLaunch Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareThen click Finish.MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan.If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue. If you encounter any problems while downloading the definition updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install. On the Scanner tab:Make sure the "Perform Quick Scan" option is selected. Then click on the Scan button. If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button. The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient. When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.Back at the main Scanner screen:Click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad. The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply. Be sure to post the complete log to include the top portion which shows MBAM's database version and your operating system.Exit MBAM when done.Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be asked to reboot your computer so MBAM can proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot normally (not into safe mode) will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware. If Malwarebytes Anti-Malware results in any error messages, check the Help file's list of error codes within its program folder first. If you do not find any information, please refer to Common Issues, Questions, and their Solutions, Frequently Asked Questions. If the error you are receiving is not in the list, please report it here so the research team can investigate. Some types of malware will target Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and other security tools to keep them from running properly. If that's the case, please refer to the suggestions provided in For those having trouble running Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.In your next post include an updated description of your computer issues and the MBAM log.Orange Blossom

I'm on a network system with two computers running Windows XP pro. I installed AVG 7 on the secondary computer and after AVG scanned the comp. it found 11 Trojan horses and put them in their vault. Now everytime I try to connect to the internet it gives me [cannot find server-Microsoft Internet Explorer]. I uninstalled AVG and disabled Zone Alarm and it still gives the same message, so I tried running System Restore and it tells me "restoration incomplete". After checking around, the main computer has an IP number 192.168.1.100 and the secondary one has IP 169.254.184.142. I tried running the connection wizard and still didn't help. Is the secondary IP number starting with the 169 an invalid number, as I was told this was such, and if so, how do I correct the number to match the main computer?

Any help will be appreciated

My problem has only just started, dont know why, but when I click on the brower icon in quick launch it sometimes cannot connect, I get an IP address in the status bar together with a search icon? and it just hangs.

If I close the browser and try again eventually it will go in, sometimes straight away, sometimes it can take 5 attempts, once in then all other links work fine and surfing is OK.

Any ideas would be welcome.

Thanks

You could have a browser hijack.

Do you have Ccleaner or some other temp file cleaner, do a clean up of your drive.

What antivirus are you running?

I get a message from Microsoft Windows that says (Internet Explorer has stopped working) Then in about 10 seconds, a message pops up and says (The problem with the link has been repaired) or something like that. This happens very often and am damn sick and tired of this problem. Can anyone on here help me or do I need to contact Bill Gates? It is a Vista system.

It will almost always happen for sure, when I try to look at Classmates but also happens when I open other sites

A:Microsoft /Windows/Internet Explorer Problem

Try this

Tools>internet options>advanced>reset.

This will remove all add-ons, the ususal cause for such problems. You will have to replace them, one by one to determine the culprit.

If that does not work try clean boot.

Before you do either of the above, how about trying another browser; Chrome is nice.

Hi,
I am using a laptop running Windows 2000 Pro. Whenever I click on the icon to run Internet Explorer, Windows Installer comes on the screen and tries to install Microsoft Publisher 2002. After I cancel the install, internet explorer works; furthermore I already have Microsoft Publisher 2002 installed and functional on my computer.
Is there any way to make the Windows Installer stop doing this?
Thanks.

A:Internet Explorer/Microsoft Publisher Problem

Welcome to the forum.

Have you let the installer complete? I am hazarding a guess that IE is using Publisher at the default HTML editor. Try looking in "Tools">>"Internet Options">>"Programs" tab and set what the default HTML editor is set to. Try switching it to something else and see if Publisher keeps yelling at you.

It seems any real work or asking question about MS Edge not doing any thing very well except saying it' read fast get covered up. Will Yes it is fast because it doesn't do very much. I keep reading about problems I am having and the solution is always use
the option to open it with IE. So what good is Edge other then adding another layer of confusion without controls.
If it doesn't get fixed real quick. It will cause many users to start dumping Windows 10 and going other places for support, like Apple, or getting off of windows systems. Right now it is a pain in the backside, and don't try tell us how good it is,
because you sound like Bagdad Bob did in IRAQ.
MS Edge needs serious work to make it functional for real work...

A:Internet Explorer 8 - Issues

Hi songkrai,

A couple of questions:

1. Do you have tabbed browsing enabled and is it the tabs that are closing, so that only one tab is open at a time?

2. Is the new website (Bwebsite) overwriting Awebsite or is Bwebsite opening a new tab and closing Awebsite?

If tabbed browsing is not working, just check that it is enabled by going to:
Tools, internet options, general tab, and selecting 'settings' next to where it says tabs. Below is a pic with my default settings.

I would first disable all addons you may have and see if that fixes it, also are you using the 32bit version? One problem I have never had with IE9 is crashes.

I started IE and it is not working. If I click on the drop down box, it freezes. If I type a URL into the box, it shows that the page is loading, but it never does. It does the same thing on both computers. What could it be?

A:Internet Explorer Issues

Hello,

Do you have a Firewall? If so, (which is recommended if you don't) you may want to have a look at the program permissions to see if IE is allowed access to the web.

Hope this helps,

I'm running Windows XP and I have a pop-up blocker too. For the last couple of weeks, everytime I open my Internet Explorer, I get another window that pops up with it. Another thing I noticed is when I google (which I do daily), and I click on a link that I want to go to, I get redirected to a different page. This is driving me crazy. I have run my virus program but nothing comes up. Why is this happening?

Thanks in advance

I had this same issue, but I have no uninstall option displayed for IE8. Funny thing is that there is an older version of netscape, and a newer safari. I love times when its just one issue after the other and people you're helping don't want a reformat. D:
I didn't want to post in the virus section because I know that is either posting logs or getting a full fix to start off. I've already run some cleanups and now having this issue.

I'm on a computer where it has ie6 on the desktop and in the main menu but on the start menu it has ie7??? when you open the desktop ie6 it just dumps a shortcut. When you try to open the ie7 it opens a second window and everything is blank when you try to re-direct away from the home page.

I'vetried a few cleanup methods cause this is the result of an infection and im not sure if its all gone but I've run several tools.

Any help would be much appreciated.
