Preferred Solution: Where to download asian language package for XP SP3?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Last time I had to do this was on a linux system, haven't actually had to do it on a Windows box. Try this:

Once SP3 is installed, change your language settings, and let your system update download the language pack from Microsoft.

A:Xp And Asian Language Install

If I understand you correctly, SP2 has been installed at some earlier time but it seems that Windows now needs some more files off the SP2 CD that were not installed with the earlier SP2 update. If that is the case, you can get an SP2 update CD from Microsoft here (the CD is free but there might be a charge for packing and postage): http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloa...us/default.mspxHowever, it could be that Windows is asking for the retail "Windows XP with SP2" CD which you don't have and which has to be purchased, though it's now difficult to find as the stores are phasing out XP to make way for Vista. You may be able to borrow one from a friend just to get your language files installed. That's quite legal because you won't be using it to install Windows, all you need are some language support files from it.

My dad recently reinstalled windows XP on my computer, as I had some sort of virus that disabled system restore and access to the hard-drive and blah blah. And now I have this problem when trying to install East Asian Languages:

I clicked the check box, and inserted the CD. It installed, I rebooted. But I still cant see Japanese text, or add it to my input language bar thing? Or change my locale to Japanese. No matter how many times I reboot or try and reinstall it, this never changes.

Someone suggested I use "sfc /scannow" in the run command to see if there are files missing, but it didn't work, meaning it found no errors. Any suggestions?

Can't they just borrow someone's CD? (Go door to door and say "hi" to your neighbors?) It doesn't have to be the exact same CD from which Windows XP was originally installed.

Hi,
I had to wipe everything and restore back to factory default
and as always, I'm running into language setting problems.

laptop shows korean characters in most of the cases,
but I see blocks, weird symbols, or question marks sometimes which
makes me very annoying even though the chance is like 2 or 3 out of 10.

I've already changed the system locale to Korean in
Control Panel > Regional and Language > Administrative

I've been into this problem a lot and
I'm keep forgetting the solution to it..
I'm attaching some pictures too

Oh
Im running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.

A:Asian language appear in question marks

Your first screenshot shows (I think) the tabs of Firefox. By default, Firefox uses Western (ISO-8859-1) character encoding. The strange characters problem only occurs on websites which fail to specify which character encoding should be used. in such cases, the default Western ISO character encoding[/I] may be inappropriate.

I think you need to change this default to Unicode (UTF-8) as follows:

Open Firefox.
Open Options.
Click Content.
in the Fonts & Colours section, click Advanced.
Under Default Character Encoding click the drop-down arrow.
Select Unicode (UTF-8).
Click OK.

Reload page for affected websites.

Seems I jumped the gun a little in thinking that my problem was solved - it just improved. My problem now is that having the East Asian Language Pack installed causes my computer to take 2-3 minutes to shut down instead of 15 seconds like it used to.

My previous problem was similar but also would not display the characters... I finally managed to get the characters to display and wrongly assumed the shutdown problem would have been fixed too. I am, however, certain that the language pack is the cause of the shutdown issue. Whenever I uninstall the language pack my computer goes back to shutting down as normal.

Does anyone know why this would happen? I would greatly appreciate a fix if someone has one... or even a work around. The easy answer would be to uninstall the pack, but unfortunately I need it.

A:Problem with Windows 7 asian language packs

Hi! kasuya, welcome to W7F

First I need to ask:
Your sure the language pack installed correctly? Because you need to have Windows 7 Ultimate or Windows 7 Enterprise to change the display language.
Not sure if Gamer Edition is allowed.

Have you tried:
Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Fonts

You can see font settings to your left of the window. click that, and then un-check the "hide font based on language settings" box.

Hi all, please help !

I have just formatted and reinstalled XP and SP2. I need East Asian language support however it just won't work. I know how to set it up in control/panel regional settings, and I have done so, but it is not working. However it does all show up as being installed in there.

I have the option to show the langauge support in the taskbar ticked, but it is not showing in the taskbar or anywhere else! I was going to try uninstalling East Asian langauge support and reinstalling, but that ticked box is faded out so I can't do it. Thats the only strange thing, otherwise it all looks right and is installed.

Is there anyway I can get round this and still be able to type Korean in webpages?

Thanks,
Paul

A:Yahoo mail in firefox loads asian language ad

A Bit odd huh? Two things you might try. This is obviously a FF thing, so...

Open Firefox> Tools> Options> Advanced> Network tab> Cached web content> Clear now button

Restart FF and try Yahoo mail again.

If no help, you might try disabling geolocation, see what effect (if any), then reenable it

Open Firefox> In address bar type about:config> Ok the warning to be careful> In search bar type geo.enabled> Double click the geo.enabled listing to set the value to false

Close and reopen FF to see if any effect. If no effect, and you don't mind FF using your location to give you more localized results, double click the entry and return it to true.

Sometime ago I remember reading about Microsoft's implementation of POSIX (ie. Services for Unix, then SUA); however it wasn't until a couple of weeks ago that I first heard of the SUA Community and its package bundles, which extend SUA's functionality.

The trend of "automating" everything is making it harder and harder to do anything right. The latest screwup is the hiding of drivers behind auto-scan systems. Now I'd like to get the latest drivers for my nVidia cards, but I can't get them from nVidia except by installing JAVA. which I am NOT going to do, and I can't get them from Microsoft except by downloading EACH time I want to install on multiple machines. Since the drivers are 265 Mb that's a lot of wasted time and bandwidth. Where can I get the WDDM drivers directly (and ONCE) instead of having to use Windows Update on each machine? You can usually find hotfixes for direct download, so why not drivers?

Hello!

Excuse me if this has been asked before, just point me to the appropriate thread. I work as Technician in a Computer Store and we import some notebooks and all-in-one PCs from Poland and elsewhere. Going into the Control Panel to download and install the Greek Language Pack seems to take ages. Is there any website when we can download the Windows 10 Greek Language Pack and just install it offline from a USB Flash drive? I'm interested in all versions, 10240, 10586 and Anniversary Edition, both 32-bit and 64-bit.

Thank you in advance.

Do you happen to know where I can download the seguisym.ttf font package for Windows 8? I was downloaded a huge set of fonts I've been collecting over the years, and by accident, they pollutes the Windows 8 font and character symbols set. Now all my arrows and other Metro interface icons are missing, replaced by small rectangular boxes. Help!

A:Where can I download the "seguisym.ttf" font package for Windows 8?

Its there already.(SegoeUIsym.ttf) However you need to use something like charmap to view it. Alternatively a file manager like 7-zip will show the font file in the Windows\Fonts folder. Explorer will not open the fonts folder as a normal file folder - it opens it in Control Panel instead, hiding many of the system fonts and only showing the basic character set.

(The segoeUIsym.ttf in Windows 7 has not got the metro tile icons set in it. Perhaps if the Windows 7 file was put in the Windows 8 Fonts folder it would thoroughly trash metro - anyone up for it?)

That wasn't very helpful was it? Sorry, I should have read the original post properly.

You need your original install media for windows 8, and something that will open the /sources/install.wim file. I would recommend 7-zip:
Download

With 7-Zip installed, navigate to /sources/install.wim and right-click it. Select the 7-zip option on the menu, and open the install.wim.

In the 7-zip file manager navigate to windows\fonts, and find seguisym.ttf.

Simply drag it to your desktop. You can close 7-zip. Right-click the seguisym.ttf file on the desktop, amd select install, and replace any version that may be there already, and you should be ok.

I'd reboot, then check out metro.

There is a app called character map.
If I remember correctly in XP it is in either system tools or accessories.
Im on Vista at the moment and cant recall.
In character map there are various different symbols depending on the font selected.
It may or may not have those particular ones Im not sure.
It is easy to use.

I installed Windows 8 Pro and installed an additional language(let's say it's B) pack, changed system display language to B, and system locale to B.

And I got infinite BSOD after installing some drivers(not related to language pack, just I made mistake installing old programs), so I 'refresh'ed the system.

Guess what, after the refresh, system display was set to English(united kingdom, which is default), AND system locale remained as language B.

This is the problematic part;
1.I CANNOT change system display language to B, it says it's unavailable.
2.The system regards the language pack is already installed because I can still use B as system locale.
3.I cannot reinstall or remove the language pack. LPKSETUP doesn't detect B.

SO i'm pretty much stuck, and I don't want to reinstall just to change the system display language.

Is there any solution to this(removing/reinstalling language pack)?

I found this official link 1 hour ago after searching for 2 years.

I own an Office 2007 Student Pack in Italian - but I'm used to excel formulas in English,
and to have all Office in English. The interface being in Italian it's a pain.

Microsoft 2 years ago discontinued the support for language pack support,
I was pointing there to change interface every-time I had to reinstall.
The PC Main Disk crashed, and over the pain to do the full install of everything,
I discovered that I was stuck with an Italian Office !
DUH !

Now they came back and offered a good solution ... full download of the older Office version ... any language.

My current workstation is running WIN XP PRO SP At one point it was being used by my Russian stepson who put a bunch of games etc on it that were in Russian After my own computer motherboard failed I cleaned this workstation up but didn t reinstall windows yet as I was hoping that this wouldn t be necessary Unfortunately when I tried to install the setpoint software from Logitech the splash screen and install instructions come up display install/updates in wrong specific Language language. in Russian The same thing also occured with one of my HP scanner programs Although I have the language settings set to English I Language specific install/updates display in wrong language. do have the Russian keyboard language support also available so that my wife can type in Russian sometimes But even though I have the language set in English and it displays on the task bar as being in English unless I switch it to Russian Language specific install/updates display in wrong language. I can t download updates etc on the software that is quot language quot aware NOTE I have called Logitech who didn t have anyone in their support area who could help me We found one older version of the setpoint software that was showed up mainly in English although a few of the choices for location etc were displayed in a Russian language drop down list even then I am guessing that there is some registry entry etc that the logitech and some HP software look at in order to provide a universal install program and the techs I talked too didn t know about Any help would be greatly appreciated nbsp

Even if I install the Portuguese version, does it still look at the OS language when invoked and say "well, your OS is in English so I am going to display in English" ?

I have Chinese and Korean installed on several PCs and both languages are frequently used. What happens on two of the computers is that these characters 'invade' other programmes and for example make some hotmail email almost illegible, forward slashes are replaced by a Korean symbol, even some of the dialog boxes for the antivirus software have been corrupted this way! Any ideas anybody?

Hi there first time posting although I have visited your site many times in the past I'm running windows x localized to Greek and with Greek display language The core language is English and I installed Greek through windows update Recently I came across a problem that pretty much is described by the thread's title As a result the program files folder is displayed in English instead of Greek Other folders like in language folder is files display Program language than different users and program files x are displayed in Greek I've done some research and someone was suggesting that the problem relates with the desktop ini file in the program files folder In Program files folder is in different language than display language that case desktop ini was missing and the problem was solved by creating another one mine is ShellClassInfo LocalizedResourseName SystemRoot system shell dll - In my case the desktop ini file is not missing Things I've tried First I change the display language to English then back to Greek rebooted no luck Second I uninstall Greek language rebooted then I reinstall through windows update rebooted same result Third I deleted desktop ini file from program files rebooted still English program folder Fourth I used system restore and I selected a date before the problem occurred and then I decided to ask to this forum because guess what the problem was still there That was truly my last resort I know it's not a big problem but it's driving me crazy So any help would be hugely appreciated Thank you in advance

A:Program files folder is in different language than display language

It seems to me that it would have to stay English (or the language the coders named it) as the programs look to those folders and their exact names/wording for files to use. If someone made for example call of duty then translated duty to Greek and the code looked for duty, it would only find the translation and it would fail to find the thing its looking for.

I have no info to back this up but its my theory as why things like documents can change but not program files folder names.

If you have the multi language installation disc, you can change the language during a reinstallation. If it is a Norwegian only, then you are stuck unless you can borrow an English installation disc and activeat with the key that is on the COA sticker (on the bottom of the laptop).

Unable to remove Asian Typography from Microsoft Word.

The resolution says to remove Asian languages from the Enabled languages list in Microsoft Office Language Settings but the "remove" button is greyed out. I've searched on Google and read messages from other people with this problem, but I've never found a reply.

I'm hoping someone on this website has the answer.

Thanks, Mary

i recently installed east asian languages out of curiosity; i then uninstalled them but i still see some weird stuff

for instance, instead of forward slashes, i see a "W" with a horizontal line through it; some other characters also occasionally display as strange characters

more importantly, however, i downloaded 'picasa' and everything is in korean...its from an english site: http://picasa.google.com/index.html

any thoughts? thanks a lot!

Hiya

Are you still having this problem? If so, go to http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.zip , and download 'Hijack This!'.
Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log somewhere, and please copy & paste its contents to the forum.

It will possibly show other issues deserving our attention, but most of what it lists will be harmless or even required, so do NOT fix anything yet.
Someone here will be happy to help you analyze the results.

A:East Asian Languages

i clicked on http://www.ppstream.com/ and it is in chinese for me. and i mean it. i have east asian languages installed here. sound to me like you have to go back and select the languages you want to view.

first off....go to settings>control panel>regional and language>languages> click on details. select the language you want to add. when finished, hit apply and ok.

now to internet explorer...

click on tools>general>languages> add> select the wanted language. as above, close out program by apply>ok.

then check back on that link and it should be readable as long as you read chinese.

Hi and Welcome to TSG,
Hi,
I hope this Microsoft guide is what you are looking for?
"Windows XP supports more than 100 languages and dialects. Typically, you use one primary language on your computer. However, with Windows XP, you can set up multiple languages, and then switch between them with just two mouse clicks. A multiple-language setup is useful if you often send and receive documents in different languages. If your computer is used in a multilingual household, you can configure each user account with a different language."

Hi,

I ripped about 200 disks of Asian music to put on my iPod on my friends PC, and dumped it onto a portable HD to bring it home. I brought it home, plugged it in, and a large part of my Asian text is appearing as stuff like * ...Some of the text shows up correctly in Foobar 2000 (My media player) but odd thing is that when I explore into my portable hard drive, all the text appears properly... When I put songs directly onto my iPod, it's the same problem. If anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

A:Asian Text Not Apprearing...

Is suspect that you do not have east Asian fonts installed on your PC. You do not mention your operating system. For Windows XP, you can install east Asian language support in the "Regional and Language Options" Control Panel (see attached screen capture).

I am not sure if it is even possible to add or enable such support to an iPod. If you list the exact model of your iPod, someone else here may be able to help you out.

After many a batte with my beloved PC... I had to get it reformatted by my wonderful PC guy, thing is he re-installed windows XP, and now it had a heap of asain fonts, this would be ok if it only appeared in office programs, but it also seems to replace some letters randomly on different websites...

I just wondered if there was a way to make this language option go away. As its a bit of a pain, and after loading some music to my H10 iriver it seemed to list my songs in an asian font also (really not sure if that is related, and have re-sync'd the iriver) but would love to fix this annoying issue!

Cheers all and Happy New Year!

So I do some programming and in particular, I need to be able to display East-Asian languages, as some stuff I do is in Unicode and has translations.

I particularly work with Japanese and Korean, both which were in the East-Asian language for XP. I installed them using the XP CD and added the language pack.

I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium right now, no installation CD (my notebook was store purchased).

Anyways, I need to be able to install the languages, not that I will set my language to it, but to be able to view it, because currently, both languages do not display. I need it to display correctly.

Thanks.

Hello Ziani and welcome to SevenForums.

This is just a guess so it may not help (sorry.) Have you looked in the Windows Features dialog box to see if there are any language packs listed that can be turned off?

Turn Windows features on or off

Another possibility is to try running Office XP in Compatibility Mode. Again, probably won't help but who knows.

I have this weird problem where my computer will sometimes show Asian characters (Korean, Japanese, Chinese, etc.) and sometimes it'll show them as blocks. It's really annoying because I can't see what the song names are in iTunes and some of my folders in Chinese are just blocks. I've already tried installing the language packs but that didn't help. I've also asked this on Microsoft's forum but they didn't help much either. I can see the fonts clearly on webpages and I can type in Chinese perfectly but I can't see the characters in places like folder names, file names, etc.

I currently run Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It may be as simple as the font itunes is using doesnt support foreign characters. Have you tried changing the font?

In Asian Dynasty I am playing as the Indian (level 10). The problem is, in Skirmish (Supremacy) game I can not move from Discovery age to Colonial Age. I have enough food (around 2000) but when I choose my town center and click on the button to move up to Colonial age (which says it requires 800 food) nothing happens. Its mildly grayed out. Please tell me how do I advance to the next age?

These people have some free downloads that might help you. But I've only had very minimal experience with it.

I'm having problems with Korean fonts and the text in my IE looking jagged.
I loaded an old version of a Korean word processor (Hangul 97) onto my system, but it was incompatible with Vista. I removed the program, however I have noticed two issues since the installation/removal.
First, the font in my IE 8 is fuzzy. I've tried the solutions suggested in previous threads (ClearType, DPI change, resolution, monitor driver update, graphics card driver update), but none of these solutions solves this problem.
The second problem I have is that when I choose "Save As" or "Open" from both Paint and WordPad, the "Save As" and "Open" window titles are in Korean. I'm guessing the Korean word processor changed my default font when I installed it.
Any ideas how to solve these issues?

OS: Vista Home Prem SP2
Browser: IE 8
Monitor: LG W2453 LCD
Video Card: ATI Radeon 3650
Resolution: 1440 x 900
DPI: 96

Hello dd976,
I would think the quickest way to resolve this is to carry out a system restore, to a point before you installed the "Korean word processor (Hangul 97)".

You may also want to clear out your registry, as some of the problems may be there, download this free app and run it.

CCleaner - Download
( backup your registry when prompted).

Give this a try and post your results, good luck.

hi guys .. really need ur help ..
as u can see i'm new to this forum and new to windows 7 ..

and i been googled around for whole week .. trying everything .. and my windows still show those east-asian characters as "boxes"

i think this is the right forum to get the right help .. hehehe

this is the list i already tried ..
1. changing the system locale to chinese PRC
2. downloading chinese/korea/japanese language packs
3. downloading chinese fonts
4. unhide the fonts
5. and few others method i found googling around

really pissed off right now .. why microsoft makes it so difficult just to display east-asian characters .. when i'm using xp .. its so much simpler ..

i don't need to type those characters .. hell . i don't even know how to read korean or japanese .. hehe

i just want it to properly displayed when i'm playing korean song or surfing to chinese site ..

anyway .. big thanks in advance ..

A:[help] displaying east-asian characters

If you just want to see the characters, then use Google Translate;

Google Translate

Chinese translation of the above.

儀表飛行規則只是想看看你的字符,然後使用谷歌翻譯

It will also translate any site for you.
