I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My laptop CD/DVD player has stopped recognizing any burned CDs, whether they're music CDs or data CDs. It still burns them, but when it's done it doesn't recognize the disc. It says "Drive F is not accessible/Incorrect function." Does this just mean the drive is worn out, or is there an easy fix?

Are you sure your burner is burning the CDs correctly?

You should check the burned disks on another device or PC.

I have tried it with other computers, including my brother's which is the exact same model as mine, and they all recognize that there is a program on that disc. The drive that's in my notebook is Matshita UJ-840D.

I have a Emachine that runs Windows Vista. I have very little experience with computers. I can load videos from my camera's SD card onto my computer and then burn onto a DVD disc, but it will not play on my home DVD player. I need to know if there is a special program that I should get to format my home videos so that they will play on my dvd player which is a Sony DVD Recorder model#GX255. I have a choice of to formatting options when I burn onto a disc of Live File System or USB Flash Drive. Again this may be nothing to do with it I just need some HELP Thank You!

A:trouble playing burned dvd's

To play your videos on your home dvd player they need to converted into a specific format and file structure, then burned to dvd. This process is known as authoring and there are many dvd authoring programs available. On such program is DVD Flick which is free and can be downloaded from here http://www.dvdflick.net/

I have been having trouble burning DVDs that will play on a regular DVD player. They play perfectly for about 15 minutes then start skipping and freezing and finally stop completely. These same DVDs will play perfectly the whole way through on a computer or XBox 360. I have used numerous software programs and 2 different DVD burners because I thought something was wrong with my hardware. Now I don't think the problem ever was the hardware because I replaced my drive with a Sony Optiarc and then bought another Sony Optiarc just in case I had a bad one. I am out of ideas so any help would be appreciated.

For years I have been able to import CDs which I have burned on my home stereo from vinyl and other sources. Now that I have iTunes 11.0.1, whenever I try to do this I get a message that I have inserted a blank disc. I have a large collection of these burned disks, and would like to import most of them into itunes and put them on my ipod, but haven't been able to do so since updating iTunes to 11.0.1. Thanks in advance for any insights/solutions.
.... I have even put in CDs that I had imported previously, and am still told that I have inserted a blank disk, though the music from the first time i imported it has always been available, and the disk plays everywhere else. And purchased cd's play and download fine.

A:Trouble Importing burned CDs to iTunes 11.0.1

Most likely a new DRM scheme in the new version which doesn't like your burned media as it can be identified. You could simply RIP the discs with other software and then import the titles directly from the HDD.

A:not sure belong here trouble reading burned doc word o3

Have you tried rebooting the computer then trying to read the CD in Windows Explorer? Files burned to a CD-R usually aren't erasable, a CD-RW is ReWriteable, can be erased and used again. If wanting to work on stored files it'd be best to use a USB Thumb/Flash drive or Copy the files from a CD-R back onto the HDD.

I'm in the process of calibrating my subwoofer and want to make a CD audio disc of bass frequencies from this site (http://www.realtraps.com/test-cd.htm). The download contains many MP3 files. I burned the files to a CD and the CD plays on my computer but doesn't play on my Panasonic BD-85. I really doin't understand what's happening as I have burned music on a CD and that plays on the BD-85. I'm sure that I am doing something wrong, but don't know what it is.

A:Trouble getting burned files to play on bluray player?

If they are MP3 files, does the Blu-Ray player play MP3 files? That may be the problem and if it is, you will have to convert them to wav files and then burn a standard "audio" CD.

However, the MP3 files concern me as they are not full fidelity and if you are trying to calibrate something you need the full fidelity audio signal. Converting an MP3 to wav will not restore full fidelity, it can only be as good as the MP3 file is. If the site you are downloading from has wav files, download and use them, bypass the MP3 files (which are "something less" than full fidelity).

I have a recording studio so I'm well attuned to fidelity of audio/music files.

Minor issue here. I have a lite on dvd recorder that came with a nero 6. Recently I upgraded to nero 7 ultra and now I notice that when I playback a burned dvd in my dvd player that it cannot fast forward over 2x the speed. It simply freezes up then return to the original menu. Before I could fast forward a scene up to 8x the speed(the maximum of my dvd player).
I tried changing the settings just before I burn my dvd. First making sure that it was a the maximum setting. Then i tried to change the write speed setting to 8x. No change. Like I said this is minor but I was wondering if this is a glitch with nero 7 ultra or did upgrading somehow change a setting or what? Thnks!

2 Weeks ago I started having problems copying and pasting files/folders in windows XP Pro to my Hard drive. Some of my games will not even install properly anymore that I have installed before that worked. It's not my CD-RW drive, as I just bought a new LG 3 days ago.

The errors I get are:

"Error: Invalid MS-Dos command" when I paste and:
"Error: Invalid Parameters" When copying and pasting a file from cd to HD. With instalations it just tells me that a certain file can not be read or installed and the instalation cancels.

PLEASE HELP! I don't want to resolve to formatting.

Thanks in Advance :)

PS. I installed software/Drivers for my Sony MD Player just before I started having these problems.

:smash:
A really basic trick, try uninstalling the new cdrom completely, even disconnect the IDE cable and plug the old one back in. See if the old one works correctly, if so uninstall it totaly, and then reinstall the new one. I'm thinking it may be a device driver error sneaking in on a legacy device driver. As allways, check device manager for errors, and event viewer for informaion.

I've had my headphones for some time now and untill recently they were working just fine. I can't remember the actual product name of the headphones but can tell you they are made by logitech and have a usb plug in. The problem is that my computer doesnt seem to fully recognize the headphones anymore. When i open a program to use the headphones with or try to make a call to another computer, my computer makes the designated beeping noise for when you connect/unconnect a usb device and then the headphones stop working. Sometimes the beep will happen twice in a row as if my headphones were unconnected and then reconnected again. I've tried looking at other forums around the internet but no one seems to have had this problem before. Any help would be greatly apreciated.

I'm trying to make a custom icon file to use on the desktop of my students' computers. I've created the file using paint and saved it as a 32x32 pixel .ico file, but when I try to select is as the icon for the shortcut, windows give the message that the file "contains no icons".

Can anybody offer advice for this problem?

A:Programs having trouble recognizing an internet connection.

Hello,

Can you please post an ipconfig /all output for review? Here's How.

What type of Security software do you have, eg...Norton, McAfee etc...?

It won't hurt to check your browser if proxy setting is enabled, remove the proxy server if found.
How to Remove a Proxy Server | eHow.com

Try connecting in Safe Mode with Networking by restarting your computer, tapping F8 and selecting this option, see is you're able to connect or not?

This problem just happened recently, I have tried to connect my SimpleTech 750GB external hard drive to 2 desktop computers, 1 laptop and the message I get most of the time was that the USB device cannot be recognized. After about 1/40 tries, then the computer recognizes but after a few minutes or so the device gets disconnected and the whole problem occurs again.
Anyway of fixing this problem? or is my hard drive dieing?

Remove the drive from the case and connect it using an adapter:

I recently purchased a heatpipe cooler for my cpu(xp 1800), it came with some blue stuff on the bottom which I mistook for thermal tape(I know I am an idiot), no display. I tested the video card and it still displays. The system turns on and runs but there is no diplay. I am pretty sure my CPU is cooked but I would like to make sure there are no other options. Also the computer was only on for a few seconds, and there were no burn marks on the top of the chip. I know my BIOS has the thermal protection which shuts off the comp if the cpu goes above a certian temp, but does that work before the bios boots up?

Main question, can you fry a chip in a second or two with a thin piece of plastic between the heatsink and chip?

thanks

Go here and follow the directions to download and run the trial version of KAV 5 Personal with the extended database. Be sure that you take your time and be careful to follow the directions exactly as given there.
Go here and download Microsoft Antispyware Beta. First in the top menu click File then Check for updates to download the definitons updates.

After updating look in the right side of the main window under "Run Quick Scan Now" and click Spyware scan options. In that window put a tick by Run a full system scan and then put a check by all three options below that then click Run Scan now.

When the scan is finished, let it fix anything that it finds. Have it quarantine the items that have that option rather than delete just in case.

Restart your computer.

After you have done that, post the log from the KAV scan along with a new Hijack This log.

I had a CD and A CDRW on a P 233 Gateway. They both quit working. Gateway Tech diagnosed bad Mobo.

I built a new machine. CDRW didn't work. CD Rom worked a few days and quit.

CD Rom is recognized in Bios, shows under control panel, clicking on it shows it's working properly. Primary and secondary controllers show ok. Switching IDE's doesn't help.

Everything says the CD Rom is fine, but when you click on run it says it's not accessible. I assume it's fried.

Are there any contrary opinions and is it repairable (by me). Could a bad mobo allowed a surge to kill them?

Thanks,

Sherm

A:CD Burned?

Try booting from a 98 startup disk with cdrom support and see if you can read cd's. The startup disk uses dos mode drivers, if that doesn't work you can safely assume they got fried. I'm assuming you have them jumpered correctly, tried different IDE cables, etc.

I purchased a 512 RAM module for my MIL to upgrade her old Sony system. I took out the 512 module she had, took it with me to Best Buy and purchased the new module. Came home and put the old one back in the same slot and installed the new one in the other slot and turned on the system. It wouldn't power up. I smelled a burning smell, opened up the case and the old memory has burned. I took it out and tried booting again and it booted up ok. I am a little concerned about how long the computer will continue to work. What should my concerns be? Should I try installing another memory module? Should she get another computer? Is the whole motherboard going to burn?

'Cause my PC died couple days ago...bought some new parts and was going to change a CPU fan, when I took an old one off, saw this...now it makes me wonder if CPU is burned? How can I find out? OR is it just thermal paste from when I applied it first time?

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE.

A:Is this CPU burned?!

Wow, Looks like it has been overheating for a long time. What CPU is that? And was your old CPU fan even working? I have never seen a CPU with all that brown around the edges. Time for a new one I'd say... you should still be able to find a few CPUs for socket 478 kicking around.

Shakesbeer said:

I just got the call this morning that the power supply is bad (ok easy fix) and that the ram (512MB) is burned out causing the other problems...HUH!Click to expand...

Simply put, the P/S went blewie and took her RAM out with it (surge).

I'd be very surprised if it didn't damage the CPU and drives as well (anything connected to the p/s).

The game had nothing to do with it. Either the drive was overloaded (not enough wattage to support all her hardware), not cooling (dead or blocked fan in the p/s) or was hit with a power surge (no surge protector).

Hi All,

Hope someone can help please!
I had a MP4 file that I converted to a mpeg file using video converter.
I then burned the file to a DVD disk.
I want to watch on my dvd player.
The file works fine and is watchable until a certain stage but then stops. I have tried with 3 different files and the same thing happens with all.
Am I doing something wrong please? Please help.

Thanks in advance.

A:Burned DVD

Could it be the Video Converter software that you are using that might be causing the issue? Have you tried different software that does conversions yet? How old is the DVD player that you are using? Most modern (last 5 years or so) DVD / Bluray players can play MP4 format files. Also, does your DVD player have a USB plug? If so, you can try to put the MP4 file on a USB stick and see if it will read / play that way.

I've tried multiple image burning software but nothing works. Is it my DVD/CD player?

Is it my DVD disks? "DVD+RW"?

I have never read about this nor have I heard anything as such happening. One of my friend who purchased a PC last week called me up to say his HDD (Seagate, SATA-160GB) caught fire while no sooner he powered on. I went over to his place and inspected the whole thing but was totally clueless in pointing why this happened. The HDD I am afraid is gone as its not responding when attached to my PC.
Would like to know why this happened and how do we safeguard from such problems.

I created a bootable DVD from the selector menu, I then dragged the file in and this message came up:

ello there Today I was trying to restore a Ghost image About in everything locked up Of course this put me in a bind since the restoration had started so I had no proper OS installed Tried the Ghost restoration once more with the same result Then since I at least needed to try and get Windows back on the machine I threw in the Windows installation disc to try and just reinstall Windows and hopefully figure out how to restore my image soon after Burned CD/DVD Drive? Out I heard the drive spin up after trying to boot from CD Before anything about Windows came onscreen though the drive quieted the screen went black and the only way to get anything out of the box after that was a hard restart I just wanted to see if my conclusion that Burned Out CD/DVD Drive? this Burned Out CD/DVD Drive? is failure on the CD drive s part seems logical to those who might have a bit more knowledge The drive is a few years old but did work a couple days ago the last time I asked it to do anything Sadly I don t have any other internal CD DVD drives laying around to swap into the machine and I m not sure how feasible it is to boot from an external CD DVD drive It d just be my luck to go buy a new CD drive and then find that the drive itself wasn t at fault so I at least wanted to put my situation on here and see if I could get some confirmation that the CD drive itself is probably the culprit Or if not what else I should look at before Burned Out CD/DVD Drive? dropping money on a new drive Any input greatly appreciated Edit For the sake of completeness the image was being restored from a drive inside the box The CD drive was just handling the Ghost CD the image wasn t being restored from CD s or DVD s or anything similar nbsp

A:Burned Out CD/DVD Drive?

Seems a little soon to blame the drive, but you may be right.

Can you get into BIOS setup? Is the CD-ROM recognized there as normal?

What is your boot order in the BIOS setup? If CD is not first, try that.

Check all cab;es and connections. Be sure nothing else is loose. Even a loose graphics card can affect drive access. If you've moved the machine at all, the graphics card could easily have been pulled from the front of its slot.

This may not be the best place for this question, but...

All of my burned CDs won't play in my car. I burned them all on a blank CD-R. I got another brand of blank CD-R and tried burning the CD at 8x speed. so I made the CD with less than 74min and it only played the first two tracks. I'm using the latest version of Nero 5. These CDs work in my other older CD players. The car is a 2001 Civic.

somewhat confused here, was this something from a video camera of yours - or some 'clips' of yours you are trying to put together - or something from the net - or what?
did you add the sound - or was it already a part of what you 'burned' to the disc?

Hi,
thanks for advice.
I bought a new pc about 8 months ago with WinXP, the latest DVD ROM. I burned a CD from WinMX using Nero. I inserted the CD into the DVD rom and it seems to turn, etc. but nothing happens. The guy that sold me the computer says the CD is damaged or blank. WELL, I hate to disappoint him but the CD plays fine on other CD players and it is not scratched. AM I supposed to open something or do something after inserting a CD in a DVD Rom? or it basically begins to play itself?

A:burned CD play on new pc w/dvd rom

Yes they should play, but not all burned Cds will in all drives...it's been a common problem for a while. Try other brands of blanks that are reccommended to play in most drives. I don't know if any brands are guaranteed to play in all drives of any type. Certainly the brands reccommended by the drive manufacturer should, provided you can burn to them on the CDRW. Do any Cds auto-start on the DVD now? Do some, but not others?
Try double clicking on the DVD drive to start the CD, but if the drive seems to be spinning, doesnt sound like the problem. It's just not able to see the burned CD somehow.

I have a nice CD burner on my PC and can burn CDs a variety of ways (windows media player, musicmatch jukebox, real player, sonic dvd/cd burner, etc.). It seems that no matter what method I use the CD will play great on my PC but won't play well in my car (lexus rx300 with the premium sound system). I have been told that if the data is good the CD should play just as well anywhere but they don't do well in the car. They play for a bit (and sounding fine) and then blank out. It sounds like the reader is trying to get the data as it will sporadically play but will then skip to next track and sometimes even to the next CD.

Thoughts, ideas solutions?

I have a freind who sent me pics on a cd that he had burned using Toast on his Mac. I am using XP Pro and cannot see anything on the disk. When I look at the disk I can see that something has been burned to it, but when I put it in the CD drive, it comes up as empty.

Any ideas? Is this because he burned it on a mac? If so, is there any software that I can install so that I can see the pics?

Or is this just a bad burn, perhaps the session was not closed properly?

A:How To Read A Cd Burned On A Mac

it's not the CD that's incompatible as such, it's the image files on it. Some image formats are not cross-platform, you have to save them according to whether they are for for PC or Mac (the 'byte order' is different but don't ask me to expand on that please!).

From memory, I think TIFF images have to be saved according to the intended platform (where the option is available). Where no option exists then it will only be compatible with the host platform, or the chosen format is cross-platform.

JPEG format images, however, are cross platform I think, without any platform option required, but I can't swear to that.

The last time I gave some images to a mac owner from my PC, they were in TIFF format (to preserve quality) and I used the "save for macintosh" option in Photoshop. He had no trouble viewing them on his mac.

Unfortunately, not all image editing software gives you the choice of which platform to save the image to even when using a format that's not cross-platform. You'll have to ask your friend which image-editor he uses and to check what saving options it has. If he sent you TIFFS, ask him to save as JPEGs instead and try those.

Orion.. Sounds like a cheap brand. Try the PSU on a different system to see if thats the problem.

If that works fine, I'd say it was your CPU, even if the temps weren't high,

All Just had the strangest thing happen One of our computers here was running fine on Friday and upon boot today was completely dead I thought it was the PS so I replaced it and did get lights and fans but no video Replaced the vid card and still no All components burned out....how? video Figuring that the motherboard went out and took the PS with it took the hard drive out to get the files off of it Plugged it into another computer and it doesn All components burned out....how? t even spin up yea for backups The person who turned it on said that there was no noise just wouldn t start It did smell like something had burned so I am guessing that something happened on the motherboard I just never had heard of all the components of an entire system burning up all at the same time unless your house gets hit by lightning This was hooked up to a surge protector and nothing else on the surge protector burned out Has anyone else heard of this and do you think the motherboard is the culprit thanks Spline nbsp

A:All components burned out....how?

I would bet on the power supply being the culprit. This didn't happen to be an eMachine did it?

I have burned some avi files onto DVD and when I play them in my new DVD player, they work for a while and then it freezes. It happened on my old DVD player too. Also, sometimes it finds difficulty in reading the indexes.

What could be causing this? Any tips?

Thanks,

Jon

A:Burned DVD's not playing well

The players probably don't support AVI files. I've never used AVI files, so I don't know much to tell you. I have read though that most people have to convert them to dvd files.
That's all I know about them. Sorry.........

I burned pics to a regular cd & had no problem viewing them off the cd. After buying cd-rw disks I attempted the same thing. I was able to drag & drop from my computer & write them to the cd however, when I attempt to view them from the cd using windows picture & fax viewer my computer stalls in a dumbfounded stupor and eventially I get the old 'not responding message'. I have XP. Can you tell me why this is happening? Thanks.

I received a DVD-R and made a copy of it with the "Toaster" programme on my Mac.
This copy seems to be perfect for my Mac as well as for a standard DVD player.
The curious thing is, that nothing on this DVD is recognized by XP (i.e., XP recognizes that there is a disk, but no file on it), although the original DVD was recognized (and run) without any problem. (On the Mac there is no obvious difference between original and copy.)
I handed the original to somebody else and now cannot process these DVD files on my PC as I had the intention to do.
Does anybody know a way out?

Hi All

Music that I'm burning onto either Memorex or Maxell CD-Rs using MusicMatch (WinXP) play back fine on all my players (computer, car, high-end home stereo system, Sony Walkman and cheap portable boombox), at least initially. But after a half dozen plays or so, the CDs stop working on the Walkman and the boombox only (they continue to work fine on the other players).

Hope someone here can give my a clue about what's up with that!

Thanks,

Don L.

Hey guys I am new to this forum so I apologize for just coming in and telling you my problem expecting an answer But I was really Crashed, PSU Burned? desperate and now I need to know if the action I took was PSU Crashed, Burned? correct and be certain PSU Crashed, Burned? my computer will not burn out on me in two days Here is how it all started I brought this computer that was not going to be used at work anymore didn t even know the specs but from how it looked it just needed a bit of cleaning So I got him and the first thing that I did was try it out but I didn t have enough space on my desk to put it somewhere else so I placed it right next to my first computer could not even fit a needle in between so there was no gap Well it worked fine I saw the specs were pretty cool Ghz blah blah So after that I decide to turn on my computer well when I switch back all the cables and try to turn it on well my computer just turned on and off on and off repeatedly I went ahead and opened it up to see what was going on still did the same thing it got to the point where it would not turn on at all so I immediately thought the PSU went wrong even though I bought it a year ago maybe placing it so close messed it up So I switched PSU s thankfully they were the same specs same watts and everything Now my computer works fine but in the back of head I think PSU Crashed, Burned? it will stop fuctioning and don t exactly know what went wrong thus i have a question Can really placing the two computers so close together and turning one on mess up the PSU or any other components of the computer next to it Do you guys think what i did was right and will I encounter any problems Sorry I know my post is a little long but I am somewhat desperate any feedback is greatly appreciated Thanks Paul grinthumb nbsp

A:PSU Crashed, Burned?

i am not sure if the proximity to the other system was the issue.. i think that it was heat and bad ventilation was the culprit here. do the systems have ample room in the rear of the system to cycle air out the back and not have it stay ambient in the back for a long period of time.. ? if not then you had the same problem one of my friends did.. he had two systems side by side and they were only like a foot away from the wall and on the ground as well.. then one day one system just shut down then turned it back on just to have it turn off again.. felt the back top part of the system and dang near burned my hand the power supply had burned out from the heat generated by both systems..not good.. so to answer your question yes it could happen.. in your case i think you have proven that one TRUE

i was sketching in front of my laptop, beside the laptop was an ashtray with a lit cigarette.

somehow i must have hit the cigarette and didnt notice that it fell on the Z key (stupid, i know)
now the Z key is totally burnt and has dislodged itself from the keyboard since the locking mechanism on the cap has melted away.

the white clippy thing that is part of the laptop is unscathed, only the cap needs to be replaced.

now, i have a broken hp pavillion dv9000 and the one i burned is a vaios pcg-z1wamp

i was wondering, are laptops keys all made the same way meaning can I use the HP keys to replace the vaios key that i burned?

or am i going to have to order a spare key online (if there are any), and if so, can you recommend a good store that ships internationally.
thanks!

if the is the same shape/size, it should be fine. But my guess the viaos are a different design than the norm that i have seen

I burned a CD, and it has static on every track. You can still hear the songs, it's not much static, but it's noticeable. The original files on my computer don't contain the static, and when I play the CD on anything, INCLUDING THE DRIVE THAT BURNED IT, there's always static. I'm currently doing another test, as the CD I noticed it with is one that I recorded using Cool Edit Pro and Adobe Audition.

I've asked this question before...for my son. Now I'm asking for me.....

Does anybody have any tips on brands of music cd-r disks,or hints for burning that may help?............

The music cd's I burn don't play well in some cd players (specifically, my 7 year old SAAB cd player)......after about the 3rd or 4th track, they begin to pause and 'stick'. The first couple of tracks are fine, but the 7th track on won't even play.

Maybe it has nothing to do with the disks and it's the player that's the problem. If so......never mind. However, 'store bought' cds play just fine.

Just thought I'd throw this out and see what kinda discussion I could generate.

Thanks.

Hi everyone
I need some help. Burned discs won't play on my laptop, only original ones. I'm running Vista and I've tried reinstalling the drivers. I've played these discs before on this same laptop. Sometimes if I reinstall the drivers(MATSHITA BD-CMB UJ-120 ATA) and restart my computer it will work but only for a while. I can't keep doing that. I really need a permanent solution.

Last night the power bumped at the house and my computer went off. Since then I can no longer start the compter. Nothing, nada. Their is a power on light located on the MB, but none of the fans are on. I am guessing a power surge may have taken out the MB. I was an idiot and did not have a surge protector on the computer power connection. Is there any way to check to see if the MB was fried or if its something else. Thanks for any help.

A:I burned my pc! when i was oc`ing it! helppp!

Overclockers do need good psu's. Do the fans spin when you turn it on? If not, then it could be the power supply, or the motherboard if it is fried.

I'm posting here to see what Board should i go and get i am pissed as hell right now my board burned in the back but other components seem ok unharmed I gave MSI a RMA but the cheeky jerks said they had nothing on my product no even Burned MotherBoard out seriel number which i find hard to belive Since the RMA is a joke i contacted the place i bought it from Im hoping they will give me something to help me along because right now MSI is on my hit list I checked the ram cpu video cards etc nothing seems to be damaged or scorched by any heat marks so i am hoping it is just the board It was a compacitor to the OC genie but i never used it so any thoughts would you think it's safe to say the board didn't take anything with it by the way my nephew was playing resident evil ORC and that is when it went down

A:MotherBoard Burned out

I know the feeling, Tommy. I had an MSI paperweight too. I'm not sure what to tell you to get, but I wouldn't get an MSI board and wouldn't play Resident Evil on whatever I did get. Boards are hard lately. I had to order 4 boards before I got one that works. I feel lucky to have this one. If it were me, I would look at places like Newegg and read the user reviews and pick one that gets the highest reviews. Even if you don't buy from Newegg, it is a great place to do your research. I really don't know anyone who has good customer service except EVGA, and I don't know about their boards. If it didn't take anything with it, you were quite lucky. Sorry about the bad luck.

A:Cannot read burned Cd's

Hi Gyatsuikan and welcome to TSF

Does your computer show anyother problems? Is your computer a desktop or laptop?

Look in the Device Manager and see if there are any yellow marks by your CD/DVD devices branch. That would indicate the device driver is bad or corrupted. Expand the branch and see if the CD drive is shown there.

Have your ran your virus and spyware programs lately? It could be a malware problem. If you are not already using these, download and run SpyBot Search & Destroy and SuperAntiSpyware. Both are very good.

To start in XP and previous windows I burned hundreds of perfect discs I bought a new Dell last year that came with XP and burned many successful disc with it I then installed a second hardrive and installed Vista on that drive Dual boot for awhile and eventually disconnected the original XP drive and have been running Vista for many months The problem I dealing with burned compatable as not cd's is The music cd s that I burn now do not play on an older boombox and my car player take time to read the disc and sometimes does not want to play track one when that happens I go to track two and rewind I use only Taiyo Yuden discs I ve tried different burning programs with the same results If Vista and XP played well together I would consider connecting my XP drive back up and burning from XP Any ideas why Vista s burn has issues I burned cd's not as compatable updated the drives firmware the other day thinking that will most likely fix everything No nbsp

I've noticed that Vista does not allow you to burn discs at a low enough rate to be compatible with older devices. Have you tried Roxio Easy Media 10?

These types of posts I think are not allowed on these forums.

Now if you were using your burned games as backups in case your old ones got scratched, that would be fine.

If that's the case, get a mod chip.

Ok..this is just really frustrating. I'm using Nero 5.5 with windows xp. I have burned about 10 cd's and when I play the cd using windows media, it doesn't populate the name of the songs or the artist. All it states it Track 1, track 2....etc. How can I get it to populate what I just burned. I will say the very first cd I burned, it did populate and since then it hasn't. I can listen to the cd with no problem but it just gets frustrating. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

I burned a bunch of pictures onto some CDR's and now cannot look at them. You can see the files, but when you click on them, the hourglass comes on and stays on.

Is there an outfit I could send the CD's to who could wrestle the jpg and movie files off the cd's and re-burn them on new ones?

Thanks in advance...

Hi all
I was playing GTR in an online league and my Radeon x700pro burned out this is the second time it had happened so i decided to get an Nvidia gf6600gt.
The Radeon ran GTR on max settings with a full field of cars with no problem.
With the gt it is unplayable with a decent frame rate, so yesterday i returned the old Radeon to novatech and they gave me another. I thought everthing was going to be good again but i was wrong, it is now the same with that card.
What can have gone wrong? i have changed drivers that don't work, i'm hoping one of you boffins might be able to advise.
Thnx in advance for any help.

So I noticed a crackling sound coming from my case a few weeks back and my first thought was my psu but I wasn't sure I started unplugging things and seeing if the sound still persisted But after testing my ram and gfx card the computer refused to boot back up The fans would spin and the light on my card would come on and then die a second later I figured this just meant my psu was faulty so I bought a new one After installing the new psu today my system still didn't boot I went about unplugging components again and this time it booted after I removed one of my hdds However I am met with a message from my BIOS new PSU despite Computer burned HDD saying my Computer burned HDD despite new PSU settings don't fully support the boot device I noticed in my BIOS that none of my drives were being pick up either two hdds one that while plugged in stops the system booting and one ssd with thr OS on So I assumed this meant my drives were dead too I plugged in a spare drive that had windows installed on it to see if that could be booted to As soon as I turned on the computer the hdd I just plugged in started crackling and I could smell burning plastic I immediately disconnect everything but I think that drive is probably dead now too My question is what is burning my drives Surely my brand new Seagate m ii isn't faulty Can a faulty motherboard burn a drive I would be very grateful for any help I am at a loss right now
