Got Microsoft Security Suite mostly off my laptop, but browsers won't work

Q: Got Microsoft Security Suite mostly off my laptop, but browsers won't work

Hello A couple of days ago I unfortunately got infected by the Microsoft Security Suite malware It was completely blocking my Internet capabilities and even preventing many of my programs from working including antivirus and of course there were all the annoying pop-ups In Safe Mode Networking I was able to install Malwarebytes and run it and after running a complete scan of my system it solved MOST of the problem My non-Web-based Internet software is working again like Skype and POP and the pop-ups have disappeared - everything else seems normal But whenever I open any of off Security Microsoft laptop, Suite work but Got mostly won't browsers my my browsers I get an error message that says that says Got Microsoft Security Suite mostly off my laptop, but browsers won't work quot The proxy server is refusing connections quot Then I tried running my usual antivirus Microsoft Security Essentials and it did find one file that Malwarebytes seemed to have missed but when it tried to remove it I got an error saying that it couldn t be removed Now the file itself seems to have vanished although in Got Microsoft Security Suite mostly off my laptop, but browsers won't work my MSE log it says it was cleaned - not sure how that was possible given the error message And still my browers won t work My question is is there still a trace of the malware on my system and if so how do I remove it Or is this all just the result of some sort of damage that my programs sustained when the malware was present nbsp

Preferred Solution: Got Microsoft Security Suite mostly off my laptop, but browsers won't work

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Got Microsoft Security Suite mostly off my laptop, but browsers won't work

"The proxy server is refusing connections."Click to expand...

Check the Control Panel->Internet Options and delete all proxy settings found.

Then check each Browser: Tools->Options and remove the proxy setting from there too

I have NOD32 Eset Security Suite installed, and whenever I have the firewall enabled and try to use a web browser (any web browser), I get the page not found error. I have to right-click the icon on the taskbar and click "Do not filter network traffic", which of course disables the firewall.

Anyone have any ideas as to how I could fix this problem?

Microsoft's big push into the enterprise anti-virus market took another step forward June 6 with the release of a completely revamped Antigen e-mail security product suite...The Antigen line gives customers a choice of as many as nine anti-virus scanning engines from third-party vendors Network Associates, Norman Data Defense Systems, Sophos, Computer Associates, Kaspersky Lab, MailFilters, VirusBuster, AhnLab and Authentium.http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1895,1972678,00.asp

A:Microsoft Releases New Antigen Security Suite

Eugene Kaspersky has published an article entitled Changes in the antivirus industry, much of which focuses on the impact of MS's entry into the security arena and market.Over the past few years, the antivirus industry has undergone some major changes. The market leader has changed (McAfee has lost ground to Symantec), some independent antivirus companies have either disappeared from the market or have been taken over (the Romanian company RAV and the Australian company VET), and new players (BitDefender, ClamAV) have appeared. The major factors "currently influencing the antivirus industry":Factor 1: Continuing criminalization of the InternetFactor 2: Increased variety of malware and attack methodsFactor 3: MicrosoftMicrosoft is going to be seriously focussing on the security solutions market; this will include developing antivirus solutions. The antivirus industry is in a state of shock - everyone remembers Netscape and other independent projects, which either significantly lost market share or disappeared altogether after Microsoft produced similar products. Microsoft is planning to bring the following to the market: *antivirus for home PCs *antivirus for workstations (planned for the future) *solutions for MS Exchange (using the multi-engine Antigen from Sybari)Of course, the appearance of this commercial giant will be a heavy blow to other manufacturers. But just how heavy will the blow be?You'll have to read the entire article for Kaspersky's analyses of what the answer to that question might be: http://www.kaspersky.com/cyberthreats?chapter=188361044One thing that is unclear to me is if the multi-engine Anitgen will be available to home users, which it doesn't appear to be at present.Related links:http://www.microsoft.com/antigen/default.mspxhttp://www.sybari.com/

I removed Security Suite 2012 over the weekend following the instructions on this website. It appears to be removed, but I am now having problems with using any search engine. When I attempt to search using Bing or Google, the computer just sits waiting for the website. It does not connect to the search engine nor does it redirect to another site. I saw someone else had similar troubles after removing Security Suite 2012, so I'm suspecting I may not have completely removed it or that it left behind some damage.

Thank you for being here and being so helpful.

Carol

Hello,Please download the TDSS Rootkit Removing Tool (TDSSKiller.exe) and save it to your Desktop. <-Important!!!Be sure to download TDSSKiller.exe from Kaspersky's website and not TDSSKiller.zip which appears to be an older version 2.3.2.2 of the tool.Double-click on TDSSKiller.exe to run the tool for known TDSS variants.
Vista/Windows 7 users right-click and select Run As Administrator. If TDSSKiller does not run, try renaming it.To do this, right-click on TDSSKiller.exe, select Rename and give it a random name with the .com file extension (i.e. 123abc.com). If you do not see the file extension, please refer to How to change the file extension.Click the Start Scan button.Do not use the computer during the scanIf the scan completes with nothing found, click Close to exit.If malicious objects are found, they will show in the Scan results - Select action for found objects and offer three options.Ensure Cure (default) is selected, then click Continue > Reboot now to finish the cleaning process.A log file named TDSSKiller_version_date_time_log.txt (i.e. TDSSKiller.2.4.0.0_27.07.2010_09.o7.26_log.txt) will be created and saved to the root directory (usually Local Disk C:).Copy and paste the contents of that file in your next reply.~BladeIn your next reply, please include the following:TDSSKiller Log

Hi All I have Zone Alarm Pro as my firewall and Norton Internet Security Suite or Norton Security Alarm Zone Suite as my Anti virus I probably should update my anti virus but was thinking about purchasing the Zone Alarm Security Suite and then add a spyware program The one thing I do have trouble dealing with using Zone Alarm Pro is that I use a VPN to login to my employer s client systems different IPs depending on the client s sites I can t have Zone Alarm Pro up and running when I login I m a bit of a newbie when it comes to firewalls and because I m a contractor I Zone Alarm Security Suite or Norton Internet Security Suite do not receive much help from the employer so not sure if Norton Security Suite would be a little more user friendly when it comes to adding IPs that I login to Any opinions on ZA or Norton SS would be greatly appreciated as well as any input with using VPN with firewalls Thanks in advance MB nbsp

I woul keep Zone Alarm Pro. Was posted someplace thatwith Zone Alarm Security Suite so of the options of Zone Alarm Pro are not the same so that Zone Alarm Pro alone is better.

New features
New! Emergency first aid

If ransomware or any other sophisticated malware denies users access to their computer and keeps Windows from functioning, they can now create a bootable rescue CD or USB drive with Outpost Live Disk utility. This tool will eliminate the malware that is preventing Outpost from being installed and clears the way for a normal installation process.

New! Installation on an infected system

Some malware processes are designed to prevent installation of security software. In response, Outpost 9 can install and run a scan for active malware in Windows Safe Mode. Once any pre-existing infections are removed, Outpost can step in to protect the system from future threats.

Improvements
Improved! Major upgrade to URL BlackList

The Internet is teeming with bad websites that aim to extort money or personal information from unsuspecting users. Outpost 9 uses a brand-new URL processing system to protect users against accessing fraudulent websites, and increases its knowledgebase of bad sites thanks to regular updates. Before any damage can occur, Outpost will steer the user away from a dangerous website and save their valuable information.

Improved! Outpost 9 is now fully compatible with Windows 8.1

Outpost 9.0 products continue to maintain universal compatibility with all supported Windows platforms, including the latest Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 versions.

Once installed, Outpost does its job without slowing the machine down, providing all the protection needed, no more, no less. Agnitum?s R&D is continually working to improve performance and stability of the Outpost products without adversely impacting security.

I've done all I know to do I tried to uninstall the program but it would not let me. I tried downloading it again & it would not function at all. Too, I am not able to get any updates at All. This may be from an extension that appeared on Google Chrome from somewhere. It's name was Bannado or Something to that affect. I cleaned it successfully from my nieces laptop then found it on mine but not too successful with my own!!! Please help

A:Microsoft security essentials will not work after new download!!!

Hi, RobinSmith.

See How to uninstall Microsoft Security Essentials, which includes a link to a Microsoft Fix it solution.

I suggest that you scan your system with your on-board anti-malware software. If you don't have one installed, I suggest that you do the following:

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.

Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
Once the program has loaded, be sure Quick scan is selected, then click Scan.
When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
Be sure that everything is checked, EXCEPT items in System Restore as shown in this sample:

Click Remove Selected.
When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart. (See the Note below)
** Note **

If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts. Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

Ok so this isn't on my computer, its on my boyfriend's. I'm not on it right now so I'll try to be as detailed as possible.
Its a windows 7 and it got a virus or actually a few I believe after trying to download Microsoft word through a torrent.
I tried doing the Malwarebytes in safe mode and then downloading and running Microsoft security essentials. It seemed to work at first, but as soon as I started browsing the internet whenever you click something like 4 popups will come up.
What can I do next?
I'm sorry if this isn't detailed enough I'll try to get more information as soon as possible.

A:Wireless internet only works in safe mode + Microsoft security center wont work

As an important followup, I have noticed that I have Muvic SmartBar and Muvic SmartBar engine installed on the computer on 3/31/2014. I did research on this and it says it is a third party application that comes with the Snap.Do virus.. I vaguely remember having remnants of this virus in the past but thought I had removed it..

When I try to uninstall Muvic SmartBar from the add/remove options I get an error message saying "The windows installer service could not be accessed. This can occur if the windows installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personelle for assistance."

When I try to uninstall Muvic SmartBar engine from the add/remove options nothing happens and I can just click uninstall forever.

I ran HitmanPro 3.7.9  and it found Snap.do and AskBar so I told it to delete them. After I restarted the computer in regular mode but the internet problem still exists and muvicsmartbar is still listed in add/remove.

I will not download or run any more tools/programs until furthur help here as been provided. Thank you so much to whoever takes on my problem!

We have it on 2 of the 3 computers we have and it doesn't seem to be compatible with Word as it is said to be. When my daughter attaches her assignments to her professor it doesn't work.

It is on a refurbished Dell ( XP PRO Interl® Celeron® CPU: 2.40 GHZ, 2.39Ghz, RAM: 504 MB).

What might I try to get these programs to sync?

Thanks so much!

A:compatibility of "open office" suite and Microsoft Office Suite?

Hello alpad,

When she saves the document to send to the professor, which format is she saving it in? If she saves it as the default .odt, Word won't be able to open it. In the small window by "Save as Type" she needs to click the arrow to cause the drop down menu to come up, then select the proper Word version to save it as. My version of Open Office has the following MS Word options:

MS Word 97/2000/XP (.doc)
MS Word 95 (.doc)
MS Word 6.0 (.doc)

There is also an XML version. The latest version of Open Office, version 3, is also compatible with MS Word 2007; however, I don't know how that appears in the drop down menu as I don't yet have that version of Open Office.

Once she has chosen the proper Word format, then she needs to save the document. This is the version she should submit to the professor.

Hi

...now totally confused about which to use, or which ist the best deal for the money?
Right now i am using the trial version from Zone Alarm Internet Security,i like it - but it really slows my system down. I was also thinking about Bitdefender total security...since they offer a 30 day free trial version, or Internet Security Software 08.
I do like the idea of having a Security Suite, its kind of all in one , and i don"t have to hassle with x amount of programs ( still somewhat of a beginner).
I have read many ratings and reviews... just to confuse me more...seems as though depending on what webside you are looking (c/net, or pc world, or computer world...) each has its own favorite.

Can anyone help out?

Thanks in advance.

A:Zone Alarm Security Suite versus Bitdefender Total Security

Howdy AstridG James,
I have been using Zone Alarm Security Suite for a couple of years now and find it very good. I also have SpywareBlaster,Ad-Aware 2007 Pro, Spybot Search n Destroy 1.5 and WinPatrol. All the programmes seem to be needed to find different things and although Zone Alarm seems to stop most and is a gr8 AV....never had any problems with it at all...the other programmes still find different things and all work well together.

I have a personal computer that I need an antivirus and firewall for. Mainly because I have ports 80 and 21 open. I have these open because I run my own personal server. I need to know which one of these is better for use on my server, and which one is better for my personal computer. Which one would make my server more secure?

NOTE - My server only needs a firewall, not an AV. My personal computer needs an AV.

A:PC-cillin Internet Security 2005 vs. Zonealarm Security Suite

For personal computers, my favorite, and actual, combination is Zone Alarm Pro Firewall, and Norton Antivirus 2005. Norton Firewall is probably pretty good, but I don't like the notification interface and I get the feeling it doesn't tell me everything, so definitely I say Zone Alarm's Pro firewall is the way to go...and Zone Alarm's Suite that includes the anti-virus, I got the feeling it was a little weak in interface and ability....but for servers...I'm not so sure if I would recommend the same thing, or something more heavy duty and specially designed for servers, I just don't know...

EDIT: PC-Cillin is a piece of crap...I didn't like it at all! The spyware feature was barebones at most, and it was just crappy all around....you should download some trials of these things and see which one you personally like best, becuase PC-Cillin, Norton, and Zone Alarm all seem to get pretty much the same ratings by magazines, etc.

When I'm logged on as an Administrator (which I only log onto to install applications), my Windows Security Center recognizes my AT&T security suite. Everything is fine.

However, when I logon as a User (which I do a majority of the time for internetting and music), Windows Security Center informs me that AT&T's security suite isn't active, even though the icon is shown in the systray, and all of it's services are active (I can see the firewall blocking info in real time for example).

Why does Security Center detect the same suite on my Administrator account but not my User account? This issue only happened after I uninstalled Visual Basic .net a few months ago (I can't restore to back that date at this point to undo it), and I'm wondering if there's a way to repair it.

A:Windows Security Center not recognizing Security Suite in XP Pro

IIRC, the MMC (Microsoft Management Console) relies upon .net to function properly.

I currently have the Norton product installed on my system. The subscription will run out in about a week. Time Warner offeres the EZ Armour suite at no charge for customers. Is there any major technical or quality reasons to not switch to the EZ Armour?

Also, if I do switch, are there any suggestions for fully removing the Norton Product? I have heard that this can be somewhat difficult.

Thanks

Try removing the mouse driver in Device Manager and restarting your computer.
See if a different mouse will work on the laptop.

A:Malware Security Suite Antivirus Security Pro HELP!!!!

Hi there,my name is Marius and I will assist you with your malware related problems. Before we move on, please read the following points carefully. First, read my instructions completely. If there is anything that you do not understand kindly ask before proceeding. Perform everything in the correct order. Sometimes one step requires the previous one. If you have any problems while following my instructions, Stop there and tell me the exact nature of your problem. Do not run any other scans without instruction or add/remove software unless I tell you to do so. This would change the output of our tools and could be confusing for me. Post all logfiles as a reply rather than as an attachment unless I specifically ask you. If you can not post all logfiles in one reply, feel free to use more posts. If I don't hear from you within 3 days from this initial or any subsequent post, then this thread will be closed. Stay with me. I will give you some advice about prevention after the cleanup process. Absence of symptoms does not always mean the computer is clean. My first language is not english. So please do not use slang or idioms. It could be hard for me to read. Thanks for your understanding.   Fix with FRST (Recovery Environment)Open notepad (Start =>All Programs => Accessories => Notepad). Please copy the entire contents of the code box below.

Hi, I'm new to internet security systems so please bear with me as I explain, Which is considered the better choice Norton Security Suite or CA Security Center? Can I have both on my computer? Also I clicked on the link for "Antimalware, And Antispyware Resources" and I am wondering should I add some of these applications in addition to the Norton & or the CA:
- Spyware & Malware Removal Utilities
- Spyware Protection Programs
- Online/Virus Scanners
- Malware/Virus Specific Cleaners or References
- Spyware Removal Tools
- Tools to help prevent Spyware
Or are these types of applications all a part of the Norton & or the CA.
Any help will be greatly, greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

A:Which Is Better Norton Security Suite or CA Security Center?

You ask a common question for which you will receive varying opinions and recommendations. There is no universal "one size fits all" solution that works for everyone and there is no best anti-virus. Please see Choosing an Anti-Virus Program. Before to read the note why using more than one anti-virus program is not advisable. After reading that, scroll up to the first topic posting and read Best Practices for Safe Computing - Prevention.

Yesterday I serviced a Win7 Toshiba laptop that was in tough shape: it's performance was terrible. A big part of the problem was that the computer was umpteen behind in Windows Updates plus the owner had just about every Microsoft Office product and all of them needed Windows Updates, both security and updates. OK that's not the first time I've seen that; however, the owner uses Google Chrome as his browser.
My questions are
Aren't Microsoft's Windows Updates supposed to be kept up to date even when a different browser is being used?
And doesn't Google Chrome or other browsers have a method for that to happen?
Fortunately the good news is the computer is back to running like new again.

A:Do non-microsoft browsers have a method for Microsoft's Windows Updates?

Only Microsoft products (and certain drivers pushed via Windows Updates) are being updated via Windows Updates. Other products and web browsers uses their own update process/program. Google Chrome uses the Google Update Program, while Mozilla Firefox uses the Mozilla Maintenance Service (I think). So no, Windows Update isn't responsible for the update of other web browsers, other than Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge (on Windows 10).

It's most likely infected.

I installed Microsoft Office Suite on computer with Window Vista, went through all the setup process including activating the Suite on the Internet which was successful. When I opened Microsoft Word the End User License Agreement window appeared with the statement that if I did not accept the terms of the agreement, the program would not be functional. I clicked the button for "Accept" and the window disappeared however, when I re-opened Word (or Excel) the agreement popped up again. I again clicked "Accept" and the same thing occurred. Is this just a faulty install or am I missing something obvious?

You appear to have a Dell Inspiron 530 desktop, and it appears to be infested with malware, spyware, etc..

Please do the following in it.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Go here, then click the large blue "Download Now @ Bleeping Computer" button to download and save AdwCleaner.exe to your desktop.

Close all open windows first, then double-click AdwCleaner.exe to load its main window.

Click the "Scan" button, then allow the scanning process to finish.

Click the "Logfile" button.

When the log appears, save it.

Return here to your thread, then copy-and-paste the ENTIRE log here.

When you close AdwCleaner, ignore the warning that appears, then click "Yes".

Works updates:

There are no "security" updates as found for Office programs (Works is only a home application) Works "Suites" contain Word however which is supported for service pack updates as you mention.

A:Installing Microsoft Works Suite

Not at all.
It is even possible to have both on the same system, but it does get a little confused at times when starting Word.
I have both on this system, and at times it is nice to try out Works for some of the tools they have there.
But generally I prefer the Office Suite.
The problem I get, sometimes, deals with having to point to my installation CD when I need to startup the "other" Word when I had last been using the alternate.

A small issue, so I live with it for now. But when I tire of it, I will just remove Works.

Hello all. I Have a computer here from a friend that had AV Security suite on it. This particular one shut down IE and Firefox, so access to internet is a no-no. But the weird thing is I AM able to play internet spades and after I installed Super Anti Spyware via CD. I was able to update it. So there IS some internet connection. I can also ping Yahoo.com from Command Prompt.

The next problem I had is I couldn't get into Safe Mode, I would get the BSOD, but I was able to repair that with Super Anti Spyware, but I when I did eventually get into Safe Mode, I was able to surf the web on both IE and Firefox. I reboot and still no access to the web with IE or Mozilla.
I'm at a loss on this one.

Evening All!!

For a few years, I have been running Norton Systemworks and Norton Personal Firewall on my computer. Last time I tried to load the newer version (2005) it wouldn't work, even though I cleaned out all I could find of Symantec. Eventually I re-installed the 2003 version, which is due for renewal soon.

I don't like the Mc Afee offering which IMO is too restrictive and resource hungry.

Any ideas as to which Antivirus and Firewall is worth having? I have used AVG in the past, but is it effective in the free version or is the paid version better?
I also have a trial edition of Panda Platinum 2006 Internet Security.
I have used the Panda website to check for problems, but what is the workstation edition like?

Any ideas appreciated before I spend some hard earned cash on updating my security programs.

PS I don't require SPAM or Ad Blockers.

A:AV Security Suite.... HOW?!?!

Sorry I forgot the basics:
its a Gateway GT5418E AMD 64 x 2 3800+ 2.01Ghz
4.0 MB RAM
32 Bit operating system
Service pack 2

AV Security Suite would not let me access my antivirus/malware tools, would not let me use the internet, would display random web pages (porn....) and had numerous popus.
There surely was more going on behind the scenes, thats why I am here ;)

Hello, fernie59.My name is aommaster and I will be helping you with your log.I apologize for the delay in response we get overwhelmed at times but we are trying our best to keep up.If you have since resolved the original problem you were having, I would appreciate you letting us know. If not please perform the following below so I can have a look at the current condition of your machine.ThanksShould you still require assistance, please take note of the points below:Please track this topic by either adding it to your favourites or clicking the Options button at the top of this thread and then Track this topic. Please disable word-wrap before posting logs. This can be done by clicking Format and un-ticking the word-wrap feature in notepad. The logs that you post should be copied and pasted directly into the reply. Only attach them if requested or if they do not fit into the post.If you do not reply within 5 days, I will have to close your topic. Should you not be able to meet this, please notify me so that I will leave the topic open. Please do not install, update, or run any programs for the duration of the fix.If you do not understand the instructions I provide, please don't hesitate to ask. That's what I'm here for Please continue to reply to this topic until I give you the all clean. Just because there are no symptoms of infection doesn't mean that the computer is clean. If you are running Vista, please run all the fixes as an administrator. This is done by right-clicking the program and clicking "Run as Administrator".Please do the following so I can take a look at the current state of your system. We need to run RSITDownload random's system information tool (RSIT) by random/random and save it to your desktop.Double click on RSIT.exe.Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.Once it has finished, two logs will open. Please post the contents of both log.txt (<<will be maximized) and info.txt (<<will be minimized)NEXT:(This step may produce a blank log. Let me know if that is the case)We need to run a GMER scanDownload GMER and save to your desktop. Note that the file will be randomly named to prevent active malware from stopping the download.Close all other open programs as there is a slight chance your computer will crash.Double click the GMER program. Your security programs may detect GMER's driver trying to load. Allow it.You may see a warning saying "GMER has detected rootkit activity". If so, select NO.Make sure all options are checked except:IAT/EATDrives/Partition other than Systemdrive, which is typically C:\Show All (This is important, so do not miss it.)Note: If GMER crashes or hangs, please retry running a scan. Only this time, in addition to the options mentioned above, uncheck Devices as well. When the scan is complete, click Save and save the log onto your desktop. In your next reply, please include the following:Log.txtinfo.txtgmer.log

Hi, I received the AV Security Suite popups. I am running a Dell Vostro 1700 with Windows XP. I went searching for a solution, and found the instructions to reboot and start in safeboot mode. But when I did, it rendered my mouse and keyboard useless. So now it boots up and stays stagnant on the user logon screen. I have searched other threads and see plenty of instructions on what to do, but I can't download or run any programs with no mouse or keyboard. I am just stuck. I am using another computer to post now. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just got this today and I followed the instructions on the site. I got rid of it, restarted my computer and was fine for 1-2 hours and then... it came back. I managed to shut it off and am running malwarebyte's full scan again but, will it come back? Is this stupid virus permanent?

So Ive been plagued by AV Security Suite which wont let me run any programs without closing it on me and telling me that it is infected. I can use MozFirefox. I find it in my processes delete it everything seems fine until I restart now I dont know where it is I dont know if the name changed but I can only seem to run in safemode without it popping up on me. Im using Vista... Every where I look for the answere to this wants me to dl some spyhunter program then pay for it, the manual removal doesnt help me because they give no names and honestly I dont know what Im looking at in regkey Im likely to destroy my desktop... Hello My work laptop contracted AV Security Suite yesterday as I was surfing the net looking at hardware reviews - not exactly sure which site but if I had to guess it would likely be the reviews of the gaming keyboard and mouse I was looking for At any rate I used the information on your site to remove the files and registry entries and the popups stopped at last - thank you - however IE was hijacked I was unable to go to almost every Microsoft site Suite Security and AV some then and when I clicked on links in Google search result pages I would be redirected to other pages Oddly my homepage remained unaffected I tried downloading IE updates AV Security Suite and then some downloaded and ran a variety of software like Malwarebytes Spybot Ad-aware Spyware Doctor Registry Mechanic RUBotted Housecall etc with no luck Symantec Corporate AV updated OK but found nothing just as Windows Defender and all the rest I installed Chrome and Firefox - no luck as they were hijacked upon installation I did manage to download WinXP SP and re-ran that it was already at sp when it got infected as well as IE but still no luck Since I can t determine which hijacker is holding my browser hostage I am left hoping that one of you fine folks can steer me towards a successful resolution I followed the instructions posted the DDS txt below and attached the attach txt and ark txt files to this post Any assistance you could provide would be most AV Security Suite and then some welcome I d really prefer not to reinstall the OS if I don t have to Thank you very much for your time EricDDS Ver - - - NTFSx Run by test at on Sun Internet Explorer Microsoft Windows XP Professional GMT - AV Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition On-access scanning enabled Updated FB E- B - A- F -E D C Running Processes C WINDOWS system svchost -k DcomLaunchsvchost exeC Program Files Windows Defender MsMpEng exeC WINDOWS System svchost exe -k netsvcsC Program Files Intel Wireless Bin EvtEng exeC Program Files Intel Wireless Bin S EvMon exeC Program Files Intel Wireless Bin WLKeeper exesvchost exesvchost exeC Program Files Common Files Symantec Shared ccSetMgr exeC Program Files Common Files Symantec Shared ccEvtMgr exeC Program Files Common Files Symantec Shared SPBBC SPBBCSvc exeC WINDOWS system spoolsv exesvchost exeC Program Files Symantec pcAnywhere awhost exeC WINDOWS Explorer EXEC Program Files Wave Systems Corp Common DataServer exeC Program Files Symantec AntiVirus DefWatch exeC Program Files Java jre bin jqs exeC Program Files Intel Wireless Bin RegSrvc exeC Program Files Symantec AntiVirus SavRoam exeC Program Files Apoint Apoint exeC WINDOWS system igfxsrvc exeC Program Files Symantec AntiVirus Rtvscan exeC Program Files Apoint HidFind exeC WINDOWS system igfxpers exeC Program Files Apoint Apntex exeC Program Files Wave Systems Corp Services Manager DocMgr bin docmgr exeC Program Files CyberLink PowerDVD DVDLauncher exeC Program Files NTRU Cryptosystems NTRU Hybrid TSS v bin tcsd win exeC Program Files Adobe Acrobat Acrobat Acrotray exeC Program Files Intel Wireless bin ZCfgSvc exeC Program Files UltraVNC WinVNC exeC Program Files Intel Wireless Bin ifrmewrk exeC Program Files Mozilla Firefox firefox exeC Program Files Common Files Symantec Shared ccApp exeC PROGRA SYMANT VPTray exeC Program Files Java jre bin jusched exeC Program Files Windows Defender MSASCui exeC Program Files Dell Support DSAgnt exeC WINDOWS system ctfmon exeC Program Files Digital Line Detect DLG exeC Program Files Wave Systems Corp Services Manager Secure Update AutoUpdate exeC Program Files Symantec AntiVirus DoScan exeC WINDOWS system wuauclt exeC Program Files Common Files Macrovision Shared FLEXnet Publisher FNPLicensingService exeC Program Files Intel Wireless Bin Dot XCfg exeC Documents and Settings test Desktop dds scr Pseudo HJT Report uStart Page www google com ig dell hl en amp client dell-usuk-rel amp channel us amp ibd uSearch Page hxxp www google com hws sb dell-usuk-rel en side html c... Hello, and to the Malware Removal forum! My online alias is Blade Zephon, or Blade for short, and I will be assisting you with your malware issues! If you have since resolved the original problem you were having, we would appreciate you letting us know.In the upper right hand corner of the topic you will see a button called Options. If you click on this in the drop-down menu you can choose Track this topic. By doing this and then choosing Immediate E-Mail notification and then clicking on Proceed you will be advised when we respond to your topic and facilitate the cleaning of your machine. Before we begin cleaning your machine, I'd like to lay out some guidelines for us to follow while we are working together.I will be assisting you with your malware issues. This may or may not resolve other problems you are having with your computer. If you are still having problems after your machine has been determined clean, I will be glad to direct you to the proper forum for assistance.Even if things appear better, that does not mean we are finished. Please continue to follow my instructions until I give you the all clean. Absence of symptoms does not mean that all the malware has been removed. If a piece of the infection is left, it can regenerate and reinfect your machine. Attention to detail is important! Since I cannot see or directly interact with your computer I am dependent on you to "be my eyes" and provide as much information as you can regarding the current state of your computer.I ask that you please refrain from running tools other than those I suggest to you while I am cleaning up your computer. The reason for this is so I know what is going on with the machine at any time. If you act independently it will cause changes to your system that I will not be aware of, which will make the process of cleaning the machine a much slower and more difficult process. Additionally, some programs can interfere with others and hamper the recovery process. Please perform all steps in the order received. If you are unsure or confused about any instructions I give you, you should ask me to clarify before doing anything. Additionally, if you run into any problems while carrying out instructions, you should STOP and reply back here explaining what happened. After 5 days if a topic is not replied to we assume it has been abandoned and it is closed. If you need additional time, that is perfectly alright; you just need to let us know beforehand. ***************************************************QUOTEAnd I am unable to get a gmer because it always gives me the blue screen of death halfway through. Please try running the scan one more time. A:AV security suite help :(

***************************************************QUOTEGMER is having issuesPlease try running the scan one more time. Hello and welcome to Tech Support Forum.

My name is km2357 and I will be helping you to remove any infection(s) that you may have.

I will be giving you a series of instructions that need to be followed in the order in which I give them to you.

If for any reason you do not understand an instruction or are just unsure then please do not guess, simply post back with your questions/concerns and we will go through it again.

Please do not start another thread or topic, I will assist you at this thread until we solve your problems.

Lastly the fix may take several attempts and my replies may take some time but I will stick with it if you do the same.

Sorry for the delay in replying, the forum is very busy. If you still need help, please do the following:

Step # 1 Download and run DDS

Download DDS and save it to your desktop from here or here.
Disable any script blocker, and then double click dds.scr to run the tool. When done, DDS will open two (2) logs: DDS.txt
Attach.txt

Save both reports to your desktop. Post them back to your topic.

Step # 2: Download and Run Gmer

Please download gmer.zip from Gmer and save it to your desktop.

***Please close any open programs ***

Double-click gmer.exe. The program will begin to run.

**Caution**
These types of scans can produce false positives. Do NOT take any action on any "<--- ROOTKIT" entries unless advised by a trained Security Analyst

If possible rootkit activity is found, you will be asked if you would like to perform a full scan. Click No.

If you do not receive notice about possible rootkit activity remain on the Rootkit/Malware tab & make sure that the 'Sections' button is ticked and the 'Show All' button is unticked.Click the Scan button and let the program do its work. GMER will produce a log.
Once the scan is complete, you may receive another notice about rootkit activity.
Click OK.
GMER will produce a log. Click on the Save button, and save the log as gmer.txt somewhere you can easily find it, such as your desktop.

DO NOT touch the PC at ALL for Whatever reason/s until it has 100% completed its scan, or attempted scan in case of some error etc !

Please post the results from the GMER scan in your reply.

In your next post/reply, I need to see the following:

1. The two DDS Logs (DDS and Attach.txt)
2. The GMER Log

Since you're posting from another computer, you can use that one to download and transfer tools and logs (via a USB/Flash Drive) to the infected computer to run and back to the clean computer to post, until we get the infected computer in better shape.

...popped up on my computer this morning with multiple warnings saying I was infected and asking whether or not I wanted to start my antivirus software. I was able to get rid of it with superantispyware, but somewhere along the way I was prompted (by webroot or so I thought) that something was trying to open (after I tried opening IE), I denied access and now I cannot run IE. Luckily, firefox is working fine.

Anyway, I'm trying to restore IE and ensure my system is clean of whatever I was infected with.

Thank you much!

Hello atloss, Welcome to Bleeping Computer. My name is fireman4it and I will be helping you with your Malware problem. Please take note of some guidelines for this fix: Refrain from making any changes to your computer including installing/uninstall programs, deleting files, modifying the registry, and running scanners or tools. If you do not understand any step(s) provided, please do not hesitate to ask before continuing. Even if things appear to be better, it might not mean we are finished. Please continue to follow my instructions and reply back until I give you the "all clean". Finally, please reply using the button in the lower right hand corner of your screen. Do not start a new topic. The logs that you post should be pasted directly into the reply, unless they do not fit into the post.1.Download and Run RKillPlease download RKill by Grinler from one of the 4 links below and save it to your desktop.Link 1Link 2Link 3Link 4 Before we begin, you should disable your anti-malware softwares you have installed so they do not interfere RKill running as some anti-malware softwares detect RKill as malicious. Please refer to this page if you are not sure how. Double-click on Rkill on your desktop to run it. (If you are using Windows Vista, please right-click on it and select Run As Administrator) A black screen will appear and then disappear. Please do not worry, that is normal. This means that the tool has been successfully executed. If nothing happens or if the tool does not run, please let me know in your next reply2.Install Recovery Console and Run ComboFixThis tool is not a toy. If used the wrong way you could trash your computer. Please use only under direction of a Helper. If you decide to do so anyway, please do not blame me or ComboFix.Download Combofix from any of the links below, and save it to your desktop. Link 1Link 2 Close/disable all anti-virus and anti-malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix. Refer to this page if you are not sure how.Close any open windows, including this one.Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts. As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware. If you did not have it installed, you will see the prompt below. Choose YES.Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console. **Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.Note:The Windows Recovery Console will allow you to boot up into a special recovery (repair) mode. This allows us to more easily help youshould your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware. It is a simple procedure that will only take a few moments of your time.Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware. When finished, it will produce a report for you. Please post the contents of the log (C:\ComboFix.txt).Leave your computer alone while ComboFix is running.ComboFix will restart your computer if malware is found; allow it to do so.Note: Please Do NOT mouseclick combofix's window while its running because it may cause it to stall.Things to include in your next reply::Combofix.txtHow is your machine running now?

I have Windows Vista and the AV Security Suite was downloaded to my computer when I thought I was installing a newer version of a Flash Player. It has subsequently taken over all functions of my computer with security warnings. Security warnings pop up constantly and discourage any use of the computer. Can someone help me remove this virus? If not remove it then help me reboot windows? Thanks!

Hi everyone,

I noticed over the weekend that my laptop has become 'infected' with the Security Suite virus/spyware. It is basically saying everything I try and run is infected and takes me to their website and tells me to purchase their software!

I have read up online elsewhere and have tried to clear it up but to no avail. I was wondering if anyone has come across it recently and knows how to get rid of it?

Thanks.
Gareth.

Ive had many clients come into my shop in the last week with this thing. It is easily removable by the standard methods, but Ive been unsuccessful in actually securing the computers against. All the people infected with it, of course deny visiting any questionable websites or clicking yes on any popup dialogs.

Other than a normal antivirus (I have them running AVG), and making sure their windows are up to date, what else can I do to stop them from getting infected to begin with?

In my opinion, and in my opinion only the best security suite is a Antivirus and Malware Bytes Pro, The paid version that provides active protection. I should mention that the only Firewall I use is the Windows 7 and Windows 8 built-in firewall.

Hello,

I found your handy guide for removing AV Security Suite, unfortunately the first step of the fix is to boot into safe mode(to get around the fact that the virus won't let you run any executables) and the version of the virus I have will not let me boot in safe mode. I get a blue screen of death which suggests scanning for viruses (duh), removing newly installed hard drives, etc.

Searched and read the other threads for AV Suite but there was no mention of this problem so I'm not sure how to proceed.

Any guidance would be appreciated. I am running XP Pro.
