I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi,

I have a network with up to a dozen computers at any one time.
All have static ips
Most are wired.

The prob is between 2 wireless computers.
If I run both comps with windows xp, all is fine.
But 1 of the pcs is often booted from a live (Puppy) Linux cd.
When I boot using Linux, both of these pcs start dis/reconnecting to the network, every few minutes.
The nics both have different macs, & they are both assigned their own static ips correctly.
Another wireless pc on the network is not affected.

Any ideas why the disconnects & how to solve this prob?

PS. I am using a Netgear 824 router.

Thanks for any replies

We have a problem with the connection to our server. The server disconnects randomly from minutes to hours all day. I am at a remote location and connect via logmein to a local pc at the servers physical location to remotely control and connect to the server. A month or so ago the connection would drop every few minutes. The staff at that location replaced the switch and had the ISP tech check out the router. No problems were found. I think it is a problem with the server itself but don't know what it could be. Typically I can go through the login process and reconnect. I'm sorry I can't be more specific about the equipment since it is 40 miles away. Any suggestions on troubleshooting? Remotely?
Clearly I'm not a network guy.
Thanks for any help or direction

The usual suspects are:

(for DSL connections only) missing or faulty line filters
need to update the router/modem firmware at your end
packet reassembly overflow(a)

I have had a problem for the past couple days. I have looked over many places on the internet and have not found a solution.

The problem is my computer ASUS ul 30-a up until a few days ago was running fine on wireless until a couple of days ago when the wireless constantly was cutting out every minute or so and reconecting 10-15 seconds later. I have reformatted my computer and installed multiple new driver from the Asus website. When wired into the router the internet works perfectly. But wireless even directly next to it does not work. Their are 2 other laptops in the house neither which have had any problem dropping connections. Another thing I fine odd is that my computer is perfectly fine on my wireless at school. I have tried resetting the router and multiple router setting but still nothing. Renew release Ip, Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Right, so before this DSL was rarely stable, it was incredibly slow. I solved the problem by directly connecting the modem (a Westell 6100) to the phone jack, as from what I've seen, the three way splitter that was used killed the connection speed. Now the results from doing this was the internet speed being increased sevenfold. The connection I have is from Verizon, not really too sure on the connection, but if it helps, the top speed I have now is about 70 kb/s. I've taken the line quality test from DSLReports, but from what it says, everything is apparently good. Another thing I've noticed too is that the Internet and Ethernet lights on both the router (A Linksys WRT300N) and the modem are constantly flashing. If anyone could help me with this, I'd be grateful, and the link to the test is here. http://www.dslreports.com/linequality/nil/2537166

First, try another browser to see if this behavior occurs there. This'll let us know if it's a browser issue or not. Here's a link to a nice free browser (Firefox) that I use: http://www.mozilla.com/

Hi all, I recently bought my first laptop (HP Streambook) and it's fine except for it constantly disconnecting from my wifi?
It only does this in my room (note that every other device I own can still pick up and keep a consistent connection in here), and when it picks up the connection, it only has 2-3 bars. It'll then go to 5 bars for about 30 secs, then disconnect completely. When I attempt to reconnect it may not work at all, or appear there with 2-3 bars again. I have reset the network card more times than I care to mention and any amount of troubleshooting won't help. I'm at my wit's end, any ideas?

A:WiFi constantly disconnects?

Welcome to the forum!

Honestly, not the top of the line when it comes to notebooks/laptops. Can't rule out that it simply has a weak wifi adapter and antenna. What adapter does it have? May need to update the drivers. How far are you from the router and are there walls in between?

Also be sure the adapter is not allowed to sleep and power saving mode is not enabled.

Heres my problem, it has persisted for the past 3-4 months or so.

Randomly, but more frequently when i am gaming (WoW, Counter strike, Ventrilo, Warcraft III), my cable completely disconnects my internet and telephone (Optimum online & Voice)

The modem itself stays on but the lights for DS, US, and Online go out for 30 secs to a minute then reconnects and my internet is fine for the next 30 minutes or so until the same thing happens again.

I have switched out modems since it happened, no change.
I have switched out routers (upgraded from a WRT54GS to a WRT310N), no change.

I have seen you guys do some remarkable stuff with Hijackthis and such, if you could help me now with this problem it would relieve a lot of grief.

Thanks for your time

I've had Verizon DSL for a while now, and I'll be honest, its the worst service we have ever gotten.
It goes down consistently, and by the time i call Verizon Tech Support, internet seems to stabilize and they say there is nothing wrong with my internet.
I did a line test at dslreports and got the following result.
http://www.dslreports.com/linequality/nil/2552521

Looks just fine, but what explains the constant disconnections?
Oh, their 24/7 Tech Support lines seemed to have been closed for a long time now as well. Also, when i try calling corporate, they put my on hold then hang up.

Sooo, what do you guys think?
Thanks in advance.

When on Windows 7 (release 7100, 64 bit), the wireless internet disconnects after/during downloading a file, game downloads updates, or even when playing an online game. The internet still appears to be connected to my network however a message mentions "limited access". If I disconnect from the network, I am unable to reconnect to the network (error comes up).

This issue does not occur when using Ubuntu (dual boot) or on other computers connected to the internet (using Win XP/Vista). And does not occur when directly connected to the internet.

I also have noticed somewhat of an issue that may be relating to this problem. My network adapter is Belkin Wireless G Desktop Card F5D7000. However, Windows 7 recognizes the network card as "Dell TrueMobile 1300 WLAN Mini-PCI Card"

Thanks for any help~

A:Wireless Constantly Disconnects

I've got the same exact problem. I have a Rosewill RNX-N2X wireless adapter. My computer does the same thing - the wireless connection comes up with limited access and it won't connect again.

Along with this though, when this happens, my CPU starts getting eaten up to almost 90% usage by something. When I try to shut down, it just locks at the shutting down screen, and I have to hold in the button.

The connection works most of the time when just surfing the web, but when making my account for this site it decided to disconnect. I've tried changing the wireless security, channel, drivers, etc... When I try a wired connection, the connection stays fine under heavy load, so it must be something with wireless drivers or something..Please help!

Edit: Also, my router is a D-Link DIR-655, but I don't think it's the problem. A Windows 7 laptop does not have any problems with this using the same router.

Edit 2: Nevermind, wireless disconnects even when surfing web after about 3-4 minutes, but downloads stop it instantly.

I have a new laptop with a built in 802.11G adapter. It connects to my router, but then disconnects periodically, sometimes it reconnects right away, other times I have to turn the wireless adapter off and back on before it reconnects. Any advice would be helpful. Is it possible it has something to do with SP2 as this is the first time I've ever used it and this is the first time I'm having problems.

A:Wireless disconnects constantly.

SP2 and the wireless adapters built in connection utility on alot of models do not play nice so usually you have to pick one or the other to use. As well you will probably want to check the channel your on as something else may be causing interferance. Have you tried your laptop in other wirelesas areas? You may want to do that to have piece of mind that your card and configuration of your laptop is working properly.

So I recently bought a Vantec SATA/IDE to USB 2.0 Adapter. Once I got it I hooked it up to my 750gb Seagate Barracuda hard drive; it let me view the files, but after I wanted to access my user folder, it said something about not having permission and closed unexpectedly. After that happened, I shut it off. Now when I plug it into any one of my computers, it repeatedly connects and then disconnects within 30 seconds. What should I do?

Hello For the past months or so I ve had trouble with my internet and have tried recently to fix it since it annoys me insanely Here s my setup - Sony Vaio FE laptop with Vista Home Premium -bit service pack - Router is a Verizon FiOS MI WR reconnects disconnects Wireless and constantly internet - A desktop is connected through wire and doesn t Wireless internet disconnects and reconnects constantly experience the problems Wireless internet disconnects and reconnects constantly Here s the problem My wireless internet constantly disconnects and then reconnects right away for seemingly no reason Wireless internet disconnects and reconnects constantly I can t find a pattern sometimes I have no dropouts for hours sometimes it happens every - seconds for a few minutes I have tried the following - Updating drivers for both the router there was none and my wireless network card - Changing router channels to - Changing to static IP and back - Scanning my computer for viruses with Security Essentials and Spybot removing any bad stuff it found - Doing diagnostics through the router doing a ping test to my computer but it just says quot test failed quot and doesn t help me any further None of that helped and the situation remained the same From the tons of stuff I ve read online I know a few things that could be wrong but I m not sure - There s the wireless phones but the dropouts are completely independent from whenever a phone call is being made or received there s no pattern I don t know if that means anything or if it doesn t matter - I am about feet away from the router the signal has to travel from an office through a living room and into another room where my laptop is However the signal strength is described as quot excellent quot full bars - It could also be a problem with my internal network card For the longest time I ve had a problem with my WiFi switch it has become loose and I have to fiddle with it to keep it on since it sometimes moves to the off position But the dropout happens even when I m not touching the computer which could shake it to the off position and when the switch is on I thought about buying an external USB network adapter thing to bypass a possibly broken internal card but I don t know if that would work and if it would end up being a waste of money - Finally my laptop s power connection is semi-broken on the laptop itself It fell about a foot down onto where the power is plugged in which is on the side and whatever holds the cord into the computer became loose resulting in the computer going to battery for a second before coming back to AC power pretty often It usually happens when typing and there s vibration on the computer from it maybe once or twice an hour I read that using the laptop when it s disconnected from power could result in internet fallouts but the power plug has been broken for over a year while the internet problems didn t show up until about months ago So there s my situation Sorry for the long post and thank you if you read it nbsp

A:Wireless internet disconnects and reconnects constantly

when your internet drops out, does the router still have an internet connection, i.e. is the router still getting an IP address from your ISP? since you said that the desktop is hard-wired into the router and doesn't experience this same problem, i'm assuming this is the case. it seems as though the problem lies more in the wireless connection and not the router or your ISP.

you may need to get a wireless expander because that distance seems fairly long.

a new network card or a wireless USB may help matters, but it still seems like a long distance.

As the topic title says, my Linksys 10/100 LNE100TX LAN (On this machine) Constantly connects and disconnects about every 5-10 seconds. My other machines on my network are fine.

I've tried moving the card into different PCI slots;
Changing the RJ45;
Installing drivers on the CD provided;
Installing drivers from the internet;
Uninstalling the card completely and installing as above;

Any ideas?
Any other specs you may require, just ask and i'll post them.

Windows XP (No service Packs as i just formatted. It had the same problems with SP1 and SP2 installed too)

Many thanks.

I've never had this issue before with my Linksys Wireless-G PCI adapter model WMP54G. Its not much of a big problem but it is annoying! Connection is great at Excellent but sometimes it just disconnects and then automatically re-connects. It doesn't matter if I'm in the middle of loading a webpage or using the connection in any way either. I've checked for radio frequency interference and there is none in its area. The router is an Actiontec. Also whats frustrating is the connection speed even with an Excellent connection. It tops out at 54Mbps but sometimes drops to 12Mbps or 18Mbps even when there isn't heavy connection activity and the connection runs very slow. Google and web searches have not been successful. Any ideas?

A:[SOLVED] Wireless Adapter constantly disconnects.

How far away is the access point? What happens if you move directly in front of it? Do the problems still occur?
Are there any walls / Metal objects / fridges (large electrical components etc) between you and the access point?
You can try to swivel the Access Point aerial so it is horizontal instead of vertical or vertical instead of horizontal.

I've been trying to use my IPv6 as default over IPv4. After manually entering in the IP address into the adapter under IPv6 protocol, it would connect for 5 minutes before disconnecting itself. I would have to constantly redo just to keep the connection up. How can I use my IPv6 without constantly disconnecting, is there something I'm doing wrong?

Hi, I'm bombed by a harmful virus which always slowing down my internet and lots of disconnections. I also redirected to different harmful web pages (some of them are Russian porn sites and dating sites).

I scanned multiple times with Kaspersky Internet Security tools (pro) and Malwarebytes along with Adware Cleaner. They couldn't detect any infections.

Because of this virus I can't use my internet properly. Every other computer and phone at my home can connect to internet with high speed and not a single problem ever.
Here's the link I get redirected to: Meet local singles!

Please help me get rid of this virus, I'm desperate with only one choice of resetting my computer if it doesn't stop..

I run a small workgroup and have one PC that persistently cannot be accessed or even viewed on the running network. Eventually I tracked the problem down to non-running Workstation and Server services on that PC. If I manually set the startup mode to Automatic and start these services on the PC, then all is well; but on the next reboot, they are stopped again. Also, trying to manually start the Firewall/ICS service gives an "error 5: Access denied" - although the account is an administrator account. Have scanned for virus and spyware, all OK. Any ideas?

Crazy problem here. I have set up three new Dell computers with Win XP Pro to connect online to Win2K Server. Everything hooks up and works great until I reboot the machine. When this occurs, nothing connects back to the network. I can ping ok etc but the mapped drives never come back up. I have spent an entire day trying to get this one cleared up but to no avail. I can ping the server, the gateway etc and have great internet access and email access. Just can't see the server.
Any suggestions appreciated.

For Christmas we purchased an all in one Dell Inspiron, along with a new Toshiba LED TV. I just recently figured out how to use the TV's mediashare function, playing video/audio files from my Dell's hard drive.

Prior to the update to Windows 8.1, there didn't seem to be any issues. However, since that update, we'll be watching a video file (several, it doesn't seem to matter what the file is) and the file will stop playing, and a message saying connection was lost will pop up. When I then check the computer, it shows it has "limited connection" to the home network, and I'll have to disconnect and reconnect before we can start watching again.

From what I can tell, it ONLY happens during mediashare use, and never during normal computer usage.

Any clue what might be going on?

A:Win 8.1 disconnects from network during mediashare

You have to go back in and fix the power settings, when you upgrade to Windows 8.1. You would probably be best to use a Network drive that has a media share interface like Twonky Beam on it, then just the computer as a Network share.

I have for a while now occasionally been using the internet, and have my computer randomly disconnect from the internet. This doesn't happen to anyone else in my house (we have 4 computers all connected by cable). I wonder if this is an ethernet cable issue, but I was wondering if there were any other possibilities.

Any help given would be appreciated.

my computer is upstairs with a PCI wireless G linksys card in it. the router downstairs is a WRT G router linksys. i will get about 36-54mbps most of the time and the speed is great, but randomly maybe every 5-20 minutes it will disconnect for like 5 seconds and reconnect to the network, which of course causes a lot of lag in games and will make webpages not load during the reconnect. there is a computer upstairs also 1 room away which has the same setup and gets perfect signal never disconnects. what could be the problem, is my wireless card bad? its only a year old. ive tried changing the channel settings like the linksys site reccomends but it doesnt help

A:random network disconnects

Here's a possibility:

Try this:

1. Click start button
2. Click "My Network Places"
3. Right-click and click on "Properties"
4. Right-click on "Local Area Connection" and click on "Properties"
5. click on the "Authentication" tab
6. Uncheck "Enable network access control using IEEE 802.1X"
7. Click "OK"
Are you using Windows XP's WZC to manage the connection?

Hello,

My first post here so hopefully I explain well and follow procedure.

We are on a large network, AD, etc. No roaming profiles.

I have a network drive that 3 employees connect to. One employee has no trouble with it. The other two have it randomly disconnect several times a week. The network drive just comes disappears. It does not happen after a reboot or any specific event. It appears completely random.

I have no error messages to provide information unfortunately.

Any ideas what could be going on here?

Thanks!

Hello, I seem to be having an issue with my internet disconnecting after playing a flash video, or any sort of flash program.

I am using wireless connection.
I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop.
It has been happening since I've gotten Windows 7.

Also - It happens when I am on Skype too.

Those are the ONLY times it's happened, using a flash program (I got on NFL.com and go to gamecenter, that's flash) and Skype.

(Note: I've updated my network drivers already, it said "Windows has determined you network drivers are up to date."

Any help will be appreciated.

A:Network Disconnects after playing Flash

Does the same happen if using Ethernet connection?

For wifi - check device manufacturer's support site for wifi driver update. Also check system manufacturer's support site.

Mod edit moved from networking several malware infections from Networking) disconnects Network (moved I started to get this problem about a month and a half ago but at the time it was so infrequent that I really didn t think much of it I had just assumed that it was one of the typical Windows screwups that happens from Network disconnects (moved from Networking) time to time and that I had just run out of luck on avoiding Network disconnects (moved from Networking) it But over the past two weeks or so it has been pretty Network disconnects (moved from Networking) much every single day this will happen but not at a set time of usage or time of day It may be an hour into what I am doing or it may work for hours but I leave my computer on and then come back an hour later to find the connection gone What I do not understand is that this seems to affect browser capabilities but does not have an effect on any other software running in the background that requires internet access If I was downloading a program I still have that connection running however I will not be able to browse the internet until I reset the Winsock catalogue and reset the computer I would probably think nothing of this if the cache clearing didn t require a reset but it is very frustrating when you have to turn off your computer in the middle of work because of this error Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v Scan saved at PM on Platform Windows XP SP WinNT MSIE Internet Explorer v Boot mode Normal Running processes C WINDOWS System smss exe C WINDOWS system winlogon exe C WINDOWS system services exe C WINDOWS system lsass exe C WINDOWS system Ati evxx exe C WINDOWS system svchost exe C WINDOWS System svchost exe C WINDOWS system Ati evxx exe C WINDOWS Explorer EXE C WINDOWS system spoolsv exe C Program Files Lavasoft Ad-Aware aawservice exe C Program Files TOSHIBA Power Management CeEPwrSvc exe C Program Files TOSHIBA ConfigFree CFSvcs exe C WINDOWS System DVDRAMSV exe C Program Files Common Files Microsoft Shared VS DEBUG MDM EXE C Program Files Microsoft SQL Server MSSQL MICROSOFTBCM Binn sqlservr exe C WINDOWS System svchost exe C Program Files TOSHIBA E-KEY CeEKey exe C Program Files TOSHIBA Power Management CePMTray exe C WINDOWS system dla tfswctrl exe C Program Files TOSHIBA Touch and Launch PadExe exe C WINDOWS AGRSMMSG exe C Program Files TOSHIBA TouchPad TPTray exe C Program Files EzButton EzButton EXE C Program Files HP HP Software Update HPWuSchd exe C Program Files HP hpcoretech hpcmpmgr exe C Program Files Common Files Real Update OB realsched exe C Program Files TOSHIBA TOSCDSPD toscdspd exe C WINDOWS system ctfmon exe C Program Files Veoh Networks Veoh VeohClient exe C WINDOWS system RAMASST exe C Program Files Mozilla Firefox firefox exe C Program Files Microsoft Office OFFICE WINWORD EXE C Program Files Trend Micro HijackThis HijackThis exe R - HKCU Software Microsoft Internet Explorer Main Start Page about blank R - HKLM Software Microsoft Internet Explorer Main Default Page URL http ca yahoo com R - HKLM Software Microsoft Internet Explorer Main Default Search URL http go microsoft com fwlink LinkId R - HKLM Software Microsoft Internet Explorer Main Search Page http go microsoft com fwlink LinkId R - HKCU Software Microsoft Internet Explorer Main Window Title Windows Internet Explorer provided by Yahoo Canada R - HKCU Software Microsoft Windows CurrentVersion Internet Settings ProxyServer R - URLSearchHook Yahoo Toolbar - EF BD -C FB- D - F- D F - no file O - Hosts searchit com Parasite Pugi O - BHO H - FA - C - ce- D - E ABC A - no file O - BHO AcroIEHlprObj Class - E F-C D - D -B D- B D BE B - C Program Files Adobe Acrobat ActiveX AcroIEHelper dll O - BHO ChangerBHO Class - edc c -a c- db- ab - c a - no file O - BHO ContextualAds Class - AAC C -AFC - DB- EF- AF D - C Program Files TrustIn Contextual trustincontext dll O - BHO iMeshBar BHO - A A - A- -B - B FEBA FE - no file O - BHO DriveLetterAccess - CA D E- - CF- E - - C WINDOWS system dl... I recently formatted my PC and upon reinstalling Windows I ve started having a problem with network connectivity I use a wired connection from the motherboard network output Network disconnects, skips media via a router but have found the same problem Network disconnects, media skips when connecting the PC directly to the modem Every now and then the network disconnects showing the yellow triangular exclamation mark on the network status in the system tray When it does this any music or video I might be playing continues but cuts out for a split-second every seconds or so have googled about network disconnects being related to audio skipping but nobody else in the world seems to have had this problem The problems are definitely related in my case Network won t reconnect when left alone but if I Network disconnects, media skips right click on the network icon in the system tray and click Troubleshoot it fixes the problem by resetting the network adapter and presumably issuing a fresh IP address Unfortunately this only works temporarily it s either a matter of minutes or hours Network disconnects, media skips before it does it again Currently I don t have any other devices using the network I m not an expert but have some experience troubleshooting network Windows PC stuff I have never had this problem before and think I ve isolated it to either the network card cable unlikely or software network configuration I use Vuze and Spotify - could this be a port problem Is some program trying to change my settings It happens without using either program - but for a while I was convinced Vuze was the problem as it seemed to happen more often when using it I m going to try and find my old wireless network USB stick to see if it s my hardware that s the problem - but I d really rather use my cable as it s faster Also surely if it works when I do the Troubleshoot reset it s not a hardware problem but a software configuration problem Of course any help would be greatly appreciated If anybody requires additional information about my setup I ll get back ASAP If I don t reply the same day please forgive me - I work odd hours and can t always get to my PC nbsp

Is this the only PC that disconnects - do other devices connected work OK - if so how are they connected to the router - wireless or wired

would you post the following tests when the internet is working OK, and then repeat ALL the tests when the internet disconnects.
Make sure you also indicate on the reply which tests are for what condition.

Please make a note of the status of the lights on the modem and on the router when working normally - post that light status here.
Now when the internet disconnects make a note of the status of the lights for the modem and router here again. also note which have changed.

What firewall / security suite or anti-virus do you currently have on the PC - or you have ever had on the PC in the past - any trial ware - like Norton, Mcafee , AVG etc

------------------------------------------------------------------------
ipconfig /all
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post the results in a reply here.
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file and paste here.

We would like to see the results from an ipconfig /all - post back the results in a reply here.

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD then press Enter to open a command prompt box
(A new dialogue box - black with white font, will appear on screen ):

In the command prompt window that opens, type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

ipconfig /all > network.txt & network.txt

It will export the results into notepad and then automatically open the notepad and display on your screen.

Now all you need to do is copy and paste those results into a reply here
to do that:
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Select all
all the text will now be highlighted
Next
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Copy

Now go back to the forum - goto the reply and then right click in the reply box and paste the results.
The results from the notepad should now appear in the forum reply.

Ping Tests
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post the results in a reply here.
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file and paste here.

Start> Run {search bar in Vista/W7}> type CMD to open a command prompt box
(A new dialogue box - black with white font, will appear on screen ):

Type the following command
Ping {then a space and then add the number that is shown against the item labelled "default gateway" shown in the results from the ipconfig /all}
Post back the results in a reply here
right click in the command prompt box
select all
enter
control key + C key - to copy
then reply here and
control key + V to paste

Type the following command
Ping google.com
Post back the results in a reply here
right click in the command prompt box
select all
enter
control key + C key - to copy
then reply here and
control key + V to paste

Type the following command
Ping 209.183.226.152
Post back the results in a reply here
right click in the command prompt box
select all
enter
control key + C key - to copy
then reply here and
control key + V to paste

I have a datalink 614 router with two computers a desktop and laptop. This network has worked well for several months.Today, the laptop didnt recognize the network. After some tinkering,I got the laptop on line but it was very slow. After 10 or 15 minutes the system goes down.I have power cycled the router, the dsl modem and my desktop to no avail.
My system is not "secured" with a password.Could this be the problem?Any other suggestions?

What do you mean by "My system is not "secured" with a password". I mean, define system please.

Are you talking about your router password or Windows password ?

Worked fine for six months.
Windows XP.
RCN is the ISP
Linksys Wireless 24 GHz external card

I would assume it's the network or the card, but I can right-click the icon in the systray and choose Repair, and this works SOMEtimes. I can unplug and replug the wireless card (at the card) and this works SOMEtimes.

Generally, I can connect. I suspect that I'll have to reconnect to hit the Submit New Thread button now, though. (and I did)

Hi,

I have got a bit of a problem with two laptops connecting to a network, one is an old dell with a zyxel pcmcia wireless card and a d-link usb ethernet adaptor, and the other is a lenovo 3000 n200 using its in-built ethernet and wireless.

They can both connect to the network, but after about 15-20 mins they just cut off, they have been tried using both wired and wireless connections and the problem is the same with each one. The only way to get them back is to keep restarting the PC or doing the 'repair' on the network connection.

The odd thing is that the 6 other desktops in the office work fine over the network without cutting out!

please help

cheers

I have a very strange problem; I recently added a new computer to my belkin wireless G plus router and everytime that computer turns on, it disconnects the internet.

I can't seem to figure out whats causing it. All the network cards/mobo drivers are updated on all computers, firmware for the router is up to date. The new computer is on Vista while the other two I have connected to it is on XP. Does that make a difference?

A:Network disconnects internet on startup

Its nothing to do with the operating systems :| Its probabaly just a setting you haven't changed. Uninstall the router and reinstall it or just simply hold the reset button at the back of the router in for 20 seconds. This will reset it to default settings.

I have a strange problem here the computer I have running keeps having network problems I - random working then network again disconnects had a similar problem with a laptop but since it wasnt really an issue I never solved it check my other posts - I think this might be because of windows which both computers have first I am using this for gaming and mining it happens all the time but I cant figure out the reason why and I think its windows because I had windows before and never noticed this problem although it could have happened I didnt use the computer much for that time I just got windows later because I was using a copy random network disconnects - then working again of windows that wasnt registered and I decided to buy windows so I could play games and actually use the computer for something other than mining here is a little info about what happens what I mean by it quot goes out quot is the mining software will report it cant connect to the server - or multiplayer online game goes offline - or the internet stops working while i am using it the network icon lower right corner is still normal then it will get the yellow triangle I try the internet and its not working I can unplug the cable and replug it in and it starts working again or it will start working again after a few minutes or a few hours if I do nothing here is some info about the setup other wired computers work fine I have tested cables and even switched around cables with no change speed test on all computers except for the problem one is - mbps down from comcast network transfer speeds across all computers and servers are really fast except for this computer this is random it can go out from time to time and come back within a few minutes to a few hours - or I can unplug the cable and plug it back in and it works right away first of all I have noticed the network speed was slow when downloading stuff so I did a speed test and only got mbps or sometimes - mbps I have - mbps from comcast when tested on my other computers I have computers next to each other is windows and is windows windows says internet speed is - mbps - windows computer says its mbps or sometimes - mbps replaced all network cables and swept tested them they all work fine here is what I need to figure out how to log all network info to see if there is a pattern to this outage event viewer is hard to figure out it seems changed from the last time i used it in the XP days how can I see only network stuff

Hi all,

I downloaded the latest .NET Framework update from Microsoft (.NET Framework 3.5 SP1). Now, I decided that rather than downloading the 231MB through the Update site three times, I'd download the full installer, and copy it to the other machines.

The download worked fine, but when I copy the file between my computers, across a wireless network, partway through it disconnects.

Any ideas what would cause this? Thank you in advanced.

Hello Everyone,

I got a small problem I wanted to share..
Sometimes when I am working on my laptop doing whatever it just disconnects me out of the blue.
It shows this stupid icon and says that there are no connections possible:
At first, I did not know what to do so I just began doing some random things on the network center. Then I figured out how to solve it:

First open network center
Then, Open adapter settings
Disable your Wifi network card
Next, Enable it again
And then your internet connection is back again

Now this works fine on short term, it takes like less then one minute, but its starting to drive me crazy now so does any one knows why it does this and how I can solve it once and for all?

A:Wifi randomly disconnects me from network :(

Right off the bat I'm thinking it is related to your marginal signal strength as shown in the last image. My advice is to test it when you get 4 or 5 solid bars and see if it happens. I guess that means you will have to move closer to the router; yes? Hope this helps.

I have a small Windows XP peer-to-peer network and one of my workststions keeps disconnecting randomly. One moment it can browse the network and see all other workstations - then suddenly it can only see itself in the workgroup list. Checking the status of the network connection shows that the PC is sending packets, but not receiving any. In safe mode as well. Have tried resetting TCP/IP stack, reinstalling the adapter driver, etc. The problem is its randomness, because sometimes it networks fine for a few minutes or hours, then drops without explanation.
Have checked for virus and spyware as well, no luck. Anybody seen this before?

A:Network client disconnects randomly

Can you tell us something about the network? Wired, wireless, what? How about the make/model of the machine in question, as well as the network adapter if it's not built-in. Have you changed the cable, port on the router or switch, etc.?

Hi,
In the last 4-8 weeks i have noticed a trend that when any laptop detects a Network connection or disconnection it automatically launches the MSN home page on the browser
We have out local intranet set to home page. and MSN is popping up instead intermittently
Ive noticed this since we last updated our end users via WSUS.
We are all mostly running windows 8.1 x64.
To no success we have attempted this below:
Modify this registry key to 0
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NlaSvc\Parameters\Internet\EnableActiveProbing
But it still reoccurs.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A:Computer Disconnects Network Drives & Files

I have a computer that is a member of a network of about 70 networked computers. As this is a large network, are there any documents on this particular unit that will not be available on other computers in the network ?? If so save all work to a linked external drive, or another linked computer -A Repair install, or complete reinstall would be the most simple answer (or chkdsk /r and sfc /scannow at least)This could be done while the computer is acting in what you describe as normal, prior to 4:00pm PST when the problem occurs -Regards -

Hi,

This problem sort of started out of no where with my computer where it will connect to my network for a second or two then immediately disconnect. Other computer and devices connect without a problem. I have also experienced this with every network I have tried to connect to; it does the same thing.

I figure it is therefore a problem with my laptop itself, but trouble shooting has yielded nothing and most of the fixes I have found require connecting to the network, but obviously I cannot do that.

I can connect with an Ethernet cable just fine. My guess would be that there is a setting that is incorrect within the wireless on my computer, but what that is I could not even venture to guess.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I saw reconnect Wireless IP. network get won't connection and disconnects, this thread http www bleepingcomputer com forums t wireless-connection-stuck-on-acquiring-network-addressforever First I Wireless network connection disconnects, won't reconnect and get IP. want to say that I don't think there was ever a malware problem on this machine a Lenovo R It worked ok for a long time but a year or so ago it started disconnecting from the wireless network It would say connected and acquiring network address but it never completed I did a network tcp ip reset on it that didn't change anything I got another identical wifi bluetooth card and changed it no difference A few days ago it was working then stopped with the acquiring network address and as a test I gave it a static IP on the local network and it connected It worked until I shut down Today I booted up same static IP configured and it worked OK for about an hour Then it stopped working and said acquiring network address even though it had a static number configured I checked Very odd So something is amiss here More than meets the eye I started reading threads including the one I referenced above I compared some of the regedits that were recommended then but nothing really stood out I did notice that even though the Remote Procedure Call RPC Service is marked as started and automatic the start stop buttons are grayed I could not determine for sure that it's running or not but I admit I don't know that it needs to be running Admittedly this is an odd one It could be a hardware problem on the motherboard but I can't find any evidence of that Any ideas

So I just installed a new driver to my network adapter and suddenly my LAN/router cable is no longer recognised as connected.

I restarted and got back an active network connection and tried to setup IP, subnet mask and DNS but couldn't remember my standard gateway. Turned out I couldn't use ipconfig /all in cmd anymore either.

No of the other computers connected to the router had any problems (though they were wireless) and thus resetting the router didn't help.

I tried removing the driver altogether and installing an older version but with the same outcome.
Please help.

HiI have a problem where the complete home network disconnects whenever my computer reboots from idle state (either after leaving it for a while so it goes on sleep, or by putting it on sleep mode). It then takes a few (long) minutes for the network, and the internet access to it to reconnect. In the meantime ALL devices in the house (other laptops, ipads etc) lose connection too. It's only my computer which does this, so i'm assuming that there's something wrong with the settings on my computer.Has anyone come across this problem and/or know a solution? Some more information:Computer: Sony VAIO VPCSEWireless network is used (all devices in the house)Windows 7If you can help then please do! A:Windows 8 random Wi-Fi disconnects and Limited network acc

If your other wireless devices work fine from the same location as your laptop then check these solutions..

lenovo y500 wi-fi serious problem - Lenovo Community

What they mean by the black and white wires is to remove the wifi cover and you will see a board with two removable wires that are clipped onto the board.
Please make sure your laptop is unplugged and the battery removed before checking the looseness of the wires.

I do not recommend resetting your bios to default setting, skip that part.

Let us know if you have success in resolving this issue..

Hello,
the place I work has a local network with almost 20 computers.
One of them is used just to receive some pdfs from the scanner and it has our database (on PostgreSQL).
The problem is that after some time we can't access it through explorer typing "\\server" on the address bar, but the connection to the bank on PostgreSQL keeps working.
I already deactivated the power saving mode of the network drive of the computer.
What can be happening and what can I do?

Thanks in advance,

A:Router Causes Random Wireless Network Disconnects

Hi murphy347,

Welcome to SevenForums.

The only thing that comes to my mind is that your present location is much more susceptible to Radio Frequency Interference.

Did you try changing the channel in the Wireless Settings of your router? ( There are 13 ) Atleast one should prove to be better.

I have recently subscribed to a local cable ISP and have a Linksys wireless router broadcasting throughout my house. About every half hour, my wireless internet icon in the task bar flashes that it is connected to my home connnection at full signal, and then just after, disconnects.

I am running a toshiba laptop with windows XP pro SP3
In Wireless Network Connection Properties, I have my home internet connect configured at the top of the list in wireless networks, the box that says "use windows to automatically configure..." is checked. Under my connection's properties, it is set to connect even if it's not broadcasting, and to connect when it is in range.

Even when it disconnects, you can see that it still shows up in my wireless networks list at full signal, but it does not automatically connect.

Any suggestions?

Hello All,
I'm using an Inspiron 1012 to connect to a WiFi source which is located in the same building on one floor below.  I often have very slow network response and/or frequent network disconnects.  I'm not exactly sure, but could an outdated NIC be the problem.  Is someone able to diagnose with more certainty, what my problem is and how I can fix it?
Please contact me if you require any further information.

A:Wireless Network adapter disconnects then cant find networks help!

How is your signal strength? If you haven't already, you could try using a 3 foot USB extension so you can move the dongle to a more favorable reception position. If that doesn't help, just get a new one. I use one of these for one of my PCs and they seem to tend to fail after awhile.

I'm using a Rosewill USB adapter now and that one has been the most reliable so far.

If you have McAfee Life Safe (antivirus) on the system, disable it.  That likely will solve the problem - if it does, your best course of action is to uninstall that software and use the built-in Microsoft Defender (it'll automatically turn on once McAfee is gone).

Hi and Welcome to Seven Forums,

Thank you for all the detail info that you've provided, they are all quite helpful. Your Xirrus snip and ipconfig/all output looks good.
You might want to disable the Power Mode setting of your Wi-Fi adapter in Device Manager see if that helps, here's an image.

Can you also try a wired connection if possible and see if you can replicate the issue?

Hi, I've got a wifi router Edimax BR-6204Wg that is serving several computers in my home. All of them run Linux. The network is WPA-protected, only registered MAC addresses can connect.

All is well until I boot to Windows on ANY computer I've tried (both Dell Latitude). What happens next is that Windows connects to the network, disconnects after a while and all the other computers disconnect from the network as well. The Windows laptop then connects again and as long as there is no other connected computer on the network, stays connected.

I am a rather advanced user but cannot read Ethereal dumps, so I wonder if anyone has had a similar problem? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

My other Laptop doesnt disconnect, although writing to Linkstation is awfully slow...

What can i do?

I've installed 8.1 on a PC from the store and then one of my three internal drives, my data drive, would intermittently connect/disconnect. I was not able to find a solution so I recovered my Win 8.0 installation from a backup and now everything works well again. I'll try to reinstall Win 8.1 in a few weeks - suspect it's a bug that Microsoft will eventually squash. I also Installed 8.1 on two laptops from the store with no problems - however they do not have additional internal drives.

A:Internal Drive intermittently disconnects

Hi Mataek,

It may very well be a bug but I'm left wondering why it only affects one of your three drives? And since this is the first time I've personally run across this issue with an internal drive, I'm still left wonder if it could have something to do with that specific drive (or possibly a configuration issue that has an 8.1 bug). So, is there anything different about it? You might want to share the make/model number of the HD in question as well. And maybe throw in a screenshot of disk management too.

USB 8 GB Flash Drive worked fine for over a year but now disconnects moments after plugged in. Tried to plug in the flash drive both XP and Vista operating systems. The PC will issue the tone indicating that it recognizes that a device has been plugged in to USB port and the light comes on indicating power to drive, but PC will instantly issue the tone indicating that the flash drive has been disconnected. Drive info does not appear in Disk Management window and the My Computer screen will briefly show 'Scanning For Object' but the disconnect tone sounds before icon can appear.

I don't have a full backup of all information on drive. Is there any way to force drive up long enough to transfer information or any recovery software that I can try?

I have exactly the same think happening with a ScanDisk Cruizer 32GB thumb drive.
Did you find out what the problem is?

Tried on 3 separate computers running XP/7 same behaviour. Took the drive apart and re-soldered all the components so it isn't a faulty connection.

Thx.

Hi Disconnects and External Drive Reconnects Hard I had hoped I would be able to fix this problem without having to create a post for it but after browsing the forums I found many problems similar to mine however still found no answers My external hard drive continuously disconnects and reconnects when I try to access it At first it would disconnect and External Hard Drive Disconnects and Reconnects reconnect non stop then later it would only do that after I try and access the files or run an error-check I have re-formatted the drive and it has been staying connected for longer periods but the transfer rate is now slowed down considerably and it still disconnects during data transfers sometimes Before the re-format I had tried moving it to another computer to see if External Hard Drive Disconnects and Reconnects the problem was with my PC however the issue continued on that computer as well I found in another post that buying a cable from here http www tigerdirect com applicat amp csid ITD External Hard Drive Disconnects and Reconnects amp recordsPerPage amp body REVIEWS may solve my problem however I would like to confirm that this is necessary before I do so It seemed that this external hard drive was also having an effect on my computer itself My computer to a very long time to shut down on some occasions while the HD was on but once I turned it off it would finish shutting down immediately after A similar problem occurred while starting up my computer while the HD was running I have tried removing all other USB drives other than my external hard drive to see if it could perhaps be a problem with the power supply but this didn t fix anything My external hard drive will now stay connected while I am not using it however as mentioned once I try and do anything with it it will disconnect and reconnect The drive in question is currently my G drive Computer Management jpg And these are the options I used when I reformatted it Format jpg If any other information is needed please let me know Thanks in advance nbsp

If someone could give me a hand with this or could at least direct me to another post which may hold some answers I would greatly appreciate it.

Hey Gang,

I have a WD 250GB HD. Model WD200BB-00DEA0. It connected to my system via molex cable and a USB2 to IDE cable. The problem seems to be it disconnects (the WD 250gb) when I transfer large amounts of data, like a full system backup but its okay playing games. I was told that this is a common problem with drives this large and there really isn't much I can do to fix it. Is this true?

What can I do to fix this problem?

MOBO is Epox K8MM3I-X

Os is Win98 on C drive and Winxp/sp2 on D drive.

250GB has three partitons, G with 50G and H and I with 100gb each.
