I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Johnny,

I don't have any direct answers, but I would like to suggest that you run dxdiag.exe thru 'start'>'run' (just type dxdiag.exe in the box) & also download "Fresh Diagnose" from www.freshdevices.com for a program that will give you LOTS of info about your system & the components installed. :grinthumb

Once you determine what you have: go to the mfgs. websites & check for patches, fixes & updates for the specific programs/components you have.

HTH, (hope this helps)

Right, I had been debating with myself whether or not I'm going to get one of these monsters, when I discovered that I'll need to upgrade my power supply. Having asked around a bit, I was told I'd be wanting in upwards of 650W, which sounds like an awful lot. I don't want to have matched the cost of my new graphics card in electricity bills within the year, afterall.

But imagine my suprise when I read in a review that the GTS version (which I was considering) only requires 400W, while the GTX requires 450. Can anyone sort this out for me once and for all? What are the actual power requirements?

A:GeForce 8 series

It depends a lot on the amps on the 12V rail.

Appearing at http://www.tweaktown.com/articles/977/2
As far as power requirements go, the GeForce 8800GTS will require a minimum 400 watt power supply (with 12V current rating of 26A). The GeForce 8800GTX will require a minimum 450 watt power supply (with 12V current rating of 30A) and you can double those numbers when you start talking about SLI.Click to expand...

Personally, I'd use at least a 500 or 550 watt power supply for the 8800GTS and GTX, respectively; but you may be able to get away with what the article says. It also depends on hard drives, etc. With graphics monsters like that, too, I'd use only power supplies from a select few vendors, such as Corsair, PC Power & Cooling, SeaSonic, Antec, Enermax, or FSP. That's about all I can think of for now.

so my 7800 gt is dying on me and i think it's time for a new vid card. I was thinking about a 9600 gt i believe is the name and my friend told me i should not get that. he said i should proly try to ge an 8800 gts or the 9800 gtx. i'm not sure which one would be the better way to go. are they both similar in performance or do you guys think i shoudl bite the bullet and get the 9800.

A:geforce 9 or 8 series

From the reviews I have seen lately(PC magazine),the 9800 is the

does anyone have any info on these cards, i would like to see the 8800GTS drop to at lest 200 when the GeForce 9 Series come out this November. price for the GeForce 9800 GTX will be 549-649 USD. price for the GeForce 9800 GTS will be 399-449 USD. i would like to know more about these cards

A:GeForce 9 Series

Nobody knows for sure but it's probably not the 9000 series. It looks like it's going to be the 8700GT and 8700GTS. Good cards (exactly what I need) but they will be between the 8600GTS and 8800GTS 320.

Is it really worth buying the 9600 video cards, or should I just wait to buy the 10 series video cards whenever they may come out. I am not in a rush to buy one, I dont really have much to do with it.

What else can i do besides play games with an extreme video card? 3ds max, or video codding, I use [email protected] to contribute my idle cpu, is there a way to contribute idle video card usage?

I have a hans-G 19" and will buy a Samsung 19" soon for dual screen.

I have a 7900GTO which has dual dvi ports
I am heading in UWaterloo to do computer sciences, anything that you recommend i begin in study or practice? And that may give a reason to buy a powerful pc?

A:geforce 9600 or the 10 series?

I take it that you don't play GFX demanding computer games.. :P (a 7900GTO is a pretty weak contender isn't it? Or are my standards way too high?).

To answer your question, wait till the 9800 series comes out. Compared to the 9600GT (as beautiful as it is), is going to be blown away by the 9800, like the 8600GT is completely obliterated by the 8800GT.

I'm no expert, but having a rather powerful computer does have its advantages, in the long term (and perhaps in computer science). I'd keep money on the processor and memory for now, if games aren't the necessity right now. But if you do find out whats best, tell me as I'm also planning to go into computer science in uni (2 more years!!)

Hello people of the internets,

I'm looking to add some newer parts to my PC soon, such as a new MoBo (Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3), CPU (AMD FX-8350), Case (NZXT Phantom 410) and PSU (SeaSonic S12II). In addition, I'm on the fence about a new GPU. The new Kepler cards seem quite fast, but I want to know if configuring my current card (EVGA GTX 560 DS SSC) in an SLI configuration would be worth it or should I still stick with it until the later Keplers (700 series).

For further info, see my current system spec. And this PC is used for everything from word processing to gaming.

In my opinion, go for a new Kepler GPU (GTX 600 series)

A:Which GeForce 8 series card should I get? And a Cheap, Reliable PSU to Go with It?

If you're going for quality, and you aren't willing to splurge on the 8800 Series, then don't push for Max settings. Hardly any of us can max on FEAR. Maybe 3% of us. You are running 1024x768 on a screen the size of a Cap'n Crunch box, instead of a higher resolution on a loverly 52" plasma, so you might just be able to, but don't worry if you aren't.

Not to mention you're running an HP (Hardly Passable) setup. Frankly I don't see why you would upgrade on that, but if you really want to, you can.

The 8600 Series, all of them, have only one advantage over the cheaper 7900s: the ability to run DX10. And if that's why you're raving about the 8-Series, don't bother. The quality of the DX10 they run just isn't worth the money right now. It's like varnishing a bamboo stool, really.

For my money, as little of it as there is, this is the setup you want:
nVidia 7900GT
Apevia 520W (ATX Form Factor)

I have looked through the web searching for solutions for my horrible graphic card driver for quite a while now. The problems with it is when I start up my PC, my screen will turn black and then function. But it will keep again and again until my computer enters BSOD . Some suggested that you turn up the amount of electricity going to your graphic card, back date it, and much more too. I tried quite a few pf them already but sadly I couldn't do it or it just doesn't work. Currently, my Nvidia's version is 8.17.11.9646. I would like a solution that's really simple but at the same time able to solve this problem. Thanks!

When you use a top quality video graphics card, it is wise to improve your cooling system, any move up to 450 watt power supply, or more, and be sure you have more than adequate amounts of memory.
Most of the time, a 300 watt power supply will work fine, but when it fails, it can ruin the video graphics card and other components.

Nvidia Corp.?s latest beta drivers include support of what can possibly the company?s next-generation graphics processing units (GPUs) made using 28nm process technology. The actual chips are projected to officially emerge next year, but Nvidia may easily be tailoring its software for the new hardware.

The latest unreleased Nvidia ForceWare 285-series drivers contain mentioning of GeForce 610M and GeForce GT 630M graphics adapters for notebooks, according to a news-story by VR-Zone web-site. It is believed that the new GPUs belong to GK100-series chips that are based on the code-named Kepler micro-architecture.

Nvidia said earlier this year that it plans to test-drive its next-generation Kepler graphics processing unit (GPU) this year and introduce the new chips commercially in 2012.

I know it s been posted a Needed Price + 7-Series Advice v. in 8-Series: Performance s load of times but I figured I d go ahead and get something straightforward- all the other posts have been in jungle English and haven t included the proviso I m looking for Anyways my situation is that I bought my X GT from Newegg around Christmastime as a present to my ainsel ownself for those not familiar I ve been getting kind of disappointed in it Price v. Performance in 7-Series + 8-Series: Advice Needed recently It underperforms and often crashes on STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl and some more modern games akin to it It also runs hot as Hades I m in the market for a new card I d like to go DX but the late-production DX s series seem to outperform a lot of the more affordable DX offerings series especially at higher resolutions Price v. Performance in 7-Series + 8-Series: Advice Needed due to the -to- bit difference I could splurge and go for an I suppose but it would be a hit to the wallet and I d have to postpone cough quot Aruban Getaway quot So I don t want to pass up on the new line of DX -only Games for Windows Age of Conan Crysis etc that have been hyped to all hell just because I stuck with price and performance instead of currency and novelty I need some help deciding Then again I could always wait until DX becomes the vogue and buy a cheaper but better card then nbsp

Keep what you got and see what's comming next. I have a 8600GT as a stopgap until something better comes out. There has been talk of a Nvidia 256bit card to fill the gap between the 8600's and 8800's. I can't fit a 8800 in my case, if I could I would just get the 8800GTS 320mb now. If I were you, wait for the game to upgrade instead of upgrading and waiting for the game. Your X1900GT is no slouch either.

Hey,
I want to invest in a SDD to replace my dying westgate harddrive. I've set my mind on Corsair but I want to know the difference between the eXtreme series and the Performance series (http://www.corsair.com/products/ssd_home.aspx). According to the website, X SDDs reads a little bit faster, but the P series writes a little bit faster. The only other thing is that the P series is around £100 cheaper!

So is the X series worth the extra £100?

Thanks.

A:Integrated Geforce 6100 or old Geforce FX 5200

If you have lots of system RAM, then the 6100 is probably the best choice. You'd probably need at least a gig of RAM though.

If you only have 256, or 512, the 5200 might be the better choice. Best idea is to test your games with both setups, and see which plays better.

Well, I'm looking at upgrading again, and in the interest of finances, I'm upgrading the video and keeping the rest of the system the same. I'm currently running an ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe w/ Athlon XP 3200+ w/ 1GB of PC3200 ram. I'm looking at replacing my BFG GeForce 5700 Ultra with something a bit more modern and keeping the price low. I've found a 6600 (may be and LE version). The GPU and memory clocks are lower and the pixels/sec isn't as high, but the 6600 has support for Shader 3.0 and has the ability to process MPEG2 video on card which will help watching DVD's and with my TV card also. Plus there's the support for processing HD Video. I'm just looking for people's opinion on whether this is a good upgrade or not before jumping in. Fell free to say whatever. Thanks!

Hello!

Looking at these cards there is a bit of a price difference, the MSI is ?479 and the ASUS is ?299.
The MSI does have better specifications than the ASUS so in performance I would go with the MSI. Although for value for money the ASUS is very good! So if I was just going for performance I would choose the MSI but if I wanted value for money then the ASUS is the one I would go for!

A:GTX 200 Series vs ATI 4000 Series...

If you want 8800GT's, the prices have dropped to about $150 average on newegg which is great considering i got mine for $250. Personally, I'm against SLI, but if you're for it and would have to make a purchase now, go with 2 8800GTS g92 as they're averaging about <$200 (MSI's 8800GTS is on newegg for $177) and they provide some performance over the 8800GT. Since the 9800GTX is basically the same performance as the 8800GTS but more expensive, then forget that.

If you can wait a while to make a purchase, I've heard that the newer 9800GTX+ will have higher stock clocks that will deliver better performance with its newer drivers too, and this card comes out in mid-July. It's supposed to be priced around $230 and it's chip is built on 55nm process. This card sounds attractive, but we'll have to wait for solid reviews of the card first.

ATI... I don't like them, so I'm sorry but I can't tell you anything about them.

A:7 series SLI versus 8 series (No SLI

I'm sure you will loose some of the gee wiz graphics not using a DX10 card but so far most game makers have been making games that use either DX9 or DX10. As far as lost planet is concerned here is whats posted on their official forums as supported vid cards.

The following is a list of video cards that our R&D labs have tested in conjunction with NVIDIA and ATI, and have been confirmed to work.
NVIDIA (DirectX 9)
GeForce 6600
GeForce 7x00 series
GeForce 8x00 series

NVIDIA (DirectX 10, requires Windows Vista)
GeForce 8x00 series

Windows XP 32-bit Driver: ForceWare 162.18 beta (July 5th)
Windows Vista 32-bit Driver: ForceWare 162.22 (July 11th, 2007)
Windows Vista 64-bit Driver: ForceWare 162.22 (July 11th, 2007)

ATI (DirectX 9)
Radeon 1650
Radeon 1800
Radeon 1950

ATI (DirectX 10, requires Windows Vista)
None currently.

For R600 (Radeon HD2900, etc.) cards there is a hot fix from ATI:Click to expand...

the 7900 is showing in that list so it looks like it should work

I know this question has probably been answered, but I need to know which card is better and I don't have the time to research it right now, so I leave it up to all of the experts here at TSG.

I already have both cards in my possesion, so I don't need suggestions on getting a Radeon or a FX 5900 or anything like that.

The two cards in question are: MSI Geforce 4Ti 4200 128 MB, and an Apollo Geforce FX 5600 256 MB.

Which card is better for a gaming system?

System specs are:
Athlon 2000

IBM 80 GB 7200RPM HDD
Win XP Home

Can it run farcry,HL2 at a playabale frame rate?

Yes it can play farcry, HL2 etc,..... but it will all depend on the other specs of your computer. Tempted to say you should save your money a bit longer until you can at least go to the 6600gt if it is the newer games you are wanting to play.

My computer is completly out of date. I have a Ge Force 6800 GS (256mb)[evga]

If i where to buy another it owuld cost me around 120$ and i could SLI them.
Or i could buy 1 Ge Force 8800GT (512mb) for about 300$

What would be best?

A:Geforce 6800gs SLI VS. GeForce 8800

The 8800GT.

Supports DX10, Shader 4 etc, outperform the older cards in SLi and will consume less juice.

I recently bought a PCI (no e) graphics card the fx 5500, desiring a third monitor. I was told that i did not need SLI or Xfire as i did not intend to use both cards for games, i just wish for more display space while programming.

Unfortunately, the FX5500 only works whilst the gtx260 is unplugged from the power, otherwise the system with the displays connected to the gtx260 with some basic driver, even if the gtx260 is disabled and the fx5500 is working properly.

If both the cards are 'installed' in device manager at any one time, the last one to be installed will say that it has problems error code 43.

Any advice on how to get a third monitor up?

Stu

A:Mixing it up Geforce GTX 260 and a Geforce FX 5500

Either get an ATI card or if it has to be Nvidia, something from the 6200 and up. The problem is that while your are attempting to use 2 Nvidia cards they are using different drivers.

The FX 5xxx series doesn't have a Windows 7 driver (WDDM 1.1) and has to rely on the last Vista driver (a beta WDDM 1.0), and it basically cancels out the driver for the 260. The only way to use 2 non WDDM 1.1 cards is if they are a different manufacturer; ATI-Nvidia, Nvidia-ATI, etc. Same thing will happen with ATI cards if you try and run anything from the X19xx series and down with anything from the HD 2xxx and up.

Which card do you think i should buy?!
geforce ti 4200 or geforce fx 5600?!
please reply!!
thnaks!

A:geforce ti 4200 or geforce fx 5600?!

How much do you have to pay for them?

And why not think about getting a Radeon 9600pro?
(Unless you're getting either of the other cards dirt cheap)

The fx 5600 isn't a very good card and it won't be very future-proof...

Do you plan to keep the card for a long time, or upgrade in 6 months (or so)? And do you plan to play a lot of games which will be released during 2004, or mostly older games?

All of this will help determine what cards might be best suited to your needs...

will the 9 series make the $220 8800gts drop to something like $100 or will it still be $200?

A:Will the 9 series cards make the 8 series cards cheaper?

eventually, and then the 10 series will do the same to the 9 series, rinse and repeat. basically as long as its one of the fastest cards the gts will be expensive, when it becomes obsolete (relatively) its price will drop.

from the question i assume you are looking to upgrade, if you want to only spend $100 then i'd say your best bet is an OCed 7600 GT, lotsa bang for your buck, i can run FEAR with pretty high settings with just one of them.
but really, what are you looking for?

I have a Netgear DG834GT wireless router which works fine with my PCs which have G series network adapters. But with my laptop with an N series network adapter the signal disconnected every 20 seconds then reconnected; this was only a problem using it at home – everywhere else it connected well. I solved this by using a G series PCMCIA when at home. So far so good.

Now my wife has been given a work laptop which has the same problem. She can’t use a PCMCIA because the laptop has been set to stop her installing the software. So… should we get an N series router? Is there any reason it wouldn’t let us both work PCMCIA-free? And if we should go ahead, any advice on what specs I should get or avoid?

I have both of these cards laying around and am trying to decide which to run in my PC. The 7900 is a little older so I'm having trouble finding a direct comparison between the two. Does anyone know which is a better card?

A:GeForce 7900 GT OC vs. GeForce 250 GTS

The GTS 250 is essentially a rebadged 9800GTX+. It offers significantly better performance than the 7900GT.
Here's Tom's graphics card hierachy chart to give you an illustration of where these cards lie.
For a more direct comparison of relative framerate, choose the benchmark from the list. Both the 7900GT and 9800GTX+ (GTS 250) are represented.

This is a simple question.

Which card is better? GTX 260 or 9800 GTX+.

I'm going to be using Dual-SLI with these cards. So I will be buying two.

I want to be able to play Crysis....im high if possible.

I know the 9800 GTX+ can do Tri-SLI, which would make it better if I choose to Upgrade, but if the GTX 260 can out perform the 9800 GTX+ in Dual then I will go with that.

If anybody knows the comparison of these 2 cards, I would appreciate your comment.

A:GeForce 9800GTX+ vs GeForce GTX 260

Just to clear some things up. In which I know you didnt do purposely or may not know. SLI= two nvidia based cards...dual sli would be 4 cards. As I see it or normally reffered to quad SLI "Aghhem, anyway on to your question. The 260 reminds me of the old 8800 gts vs gtx/ultra situation. When the 8800 gts was "sli'd," it would perform better than the 8800 gtx in some benchmarks. With that being said, get two 260's for sli. Go to town, have fun.

I cant find the thread where someone posted the reasons why. might wanna google around first and read some reviews of the chosen motherboard.

also it might be better value to run two 7800GTs on SLI isntead of two GTX's on sli as the performance increase going from on GTX to two isnt prolly much

why is that?

It depends on what you are referring to, there is not real issues with the R series GPU's in terms of display output. Most of the associated problems people are having involve a few things:

Some of the 4k monitors (The AOC for instance) use a very odd way to refresh which caused the display to flicker on the R9 series GPU's which was resolved in a recent patch.

Some high refresh displays using DP

and some others

However I would not worry, most of the problems if any are fixed via patches and catalyst revisions. If the manufacturer has to update something like the this its normally involves something like with their own software or certain things in environments not working together properly. I would not worry, I have done nothing to my PowerColor R9 290X trio and they all work great.

Hey everyone. I currently have a GTX 580 and I want to upgrade that. I was going to get a GTX 770 but I'm now considering waiting for the GTX 800 series. Is it worth waiting for the 800's and when do you think it will be released?

A:GTX 800 series?

Well supposedly it's coming next year, but since crystal balls don't exist who knows exactly when, maybe in Q1 maybe not, maybe way longer,or if they'll be delayed even further, or how good they'll really be, or if they'll have bugs, or how much they'll cost. If anyone really knows at this point they are not likely allowed to disclose details beyond what I'm sure you've searched on Google otherwise they'd lose their job; and even what may be known now may change as changes and delays happen all the time.

In the end, it's up to you, if you need a new or better card now, buy now, if you want to wait there will always be another generation or series in the works, if the wait is confirmed to be short then sometimes waiting a bit is not a big deal, when the wait is longer waiting may not make sense.

Hello I am new to Tech Support Guy and hope someone can help. Sometimes when downloading using uTorrent my download speed disappears completely. Why is this and what can I do about it? Thanks.

Hey all,

I've currently got a second-hand 7950GT which had a voltage inductor break off, meaning I'm going to have to restructure the fans [they will no longer work on the card itself]. This came at a time where I've been overclocking, trying to decrease temperatures, etc.

I'm wondering if, for performance in DX9 games, two 256MB LeadTek 7950GTs in SLi would beat a single 8800GT / 8800GTS / 8800GTX?

I don't have Vista and I don't play DX10 games...yet. For the time being, would paying for a 7950GT at half the price of an 8800GTX and running the two cards in SLi give me a performance advantage?

I could then wait until prices fall on a 8800GTX.

sounds like the HD failed. You should probably hit the HP website for that machine and get a hard drive diagnostic test......but it sounds like that one is cooked.

Hey, kinda serial problem, basically every program on my computer is vulnerable, well has had the error message where it says an error was caused in --.dll. After running a program called "Dr.Watson" I got the following information on one of the errors when one popped up.

OLEAUT32.DLL attempted to read from memory that does not exist. It may be using an uninitialized variable, or it may be attempting to access memory after having freed it.

Adobe Type Manager has altered Windows system files.

Module Name: ATMSYS.DRV
Description: Adobe Type Manager

Any help be a big help, thanks.

hi everyone i have this all in one printer hp c4200 series ok
what happen is that the 75 tri color cartridge have damage and it appear a msg
cartridge is missing or not detected and what i want to know is theres a way to remove the msg from the printer?? so i can use the black 74 cartridge

the msg does't let me press any button from the printer

A:Help hp C4200 series???

Which model number in this list is your all-in-one printer?

----------------------------------------------------------------

The printer will not work with only the black 74 cartridge installed. The tri-color 75 cartridge has to be there also.

A cartridge doesn't get damaged while it's inside a printer. It can only get damaged by improperly handling it while unpackaging it and installing it.

If the tri-color 75 cartridge is damaged, then you need to replace it.
