Bizarre: Cannot Read Freshly Nero Burned DVD

Q: Bizarre: Cannot Read Freshly Nero Burned DVD

I have just completed a burning operation using Nero 6 which apparently finished with success. The problem is that my laptop's DVD player cannot read the burned files but when I try the DVD player on another computer, the files are there and can be read.

My DVD player is working in that I can watch films but for some reason, not the burned files that it made itself.

Can anyone tell me what is going on?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I'm having a lot of trouble burning with Nero-I have a TDK veloCD burner.

When I burn data to a CDRW (such as a word document or a power point presentation), it's burned as a "READ-ONLY" file. I have made sure that the it's the "finalized " version, but I'm unable to go back and change the data without having to save it again to my C drive.

What am I doing wrong?
Thanks.

A:Nero read only burned files

You aren’t doing anything wrong. Mastering software will always make files read only. Most people use it for backup and don’t keep working files on CD. So it isn’t usually a problem.

There are several ways to get around it.

You can compile everything you are going to burn in a folder and zip the folder. When you unzip the folder back on your computer the files will not be read only.

You can use a freeware utility to batch convert an entire folder back to archive on your HD. ReadOnly: http://www.freewarepub.net/File_Utilities.htm

If you only grab an occasional file that you want to modify just right click the file, chose Properties and change the attribute to Archive.

If you are constantly working with files on the CD you could format the RW for packet writing where you use the burner as another drive in Windows Explorer. Packet writing does not change the file attribute to read only. Plan on eventually coming back to the board to ask how to recover the data you lost if you consistently use packet writing to RW.

This is a problem which has got gradually worse. Initially, the CD/RW drive was very slow in reading burned data, it would spin and spin until it finally read something. Then, especially with large files, it would read part of it and then give up with a reciprocity failure message. Now, it doesn't even see the disks at all! I also have a DVD drive and it's the same story there. It doesn't see the disk. However, the same CD's read without problem on other machines and I can still play CD-ROMS in either drive. These fire up immediately and play fine. I'm burning with Nero 5.5.9.14 on a W2K machine. Is it the burning or the reading that's the problem, or both?

All of a sudden, when I burn cd's on Nero (OEM version) The song titles not showing up. All I get are "track 1, track 2," etc. I have no idea what is happending. I have tried it on a couple of cd's and it keeps doing this. when I "add" tunes, the titles are there; they are definitely THERE.

any ideas? all I get are cd's with 15 tracks labeled by number...!

A:Why are song titles not showing up on cd's burned on Nero?

From what you have wrote, an Audio CD will show as Track 01, 02 etc because when the player is check the CCDB for the information, it will not get it because it's a burned disc and not an original. Now if it was a DATA CD then that's different.

A:can't read burned DVD-R, but can read normal DVD

It is possible the DVD-R may be incompatible with your drive. You can search online for a firmware update for the drive. You can re-write to a compatible DVD-R on your other machine perhaps.

I don't know if this is a common problem/error or somehow it just pertains to me!

I have converted an AVI file to DVD using Winavi but when I burn to a DVD disc using Nero Vision, some of the scenes video does not match the audio. In fact the audio is from a totally different scene.

If I burn the DVD in 'basic Nero Burning ROM' mode, by adding files to a 'compilation', the DVD burns perfectly but obviously without a menu or chapters.

I would love to use Nero Vision to enable me to add titles and chapters, so why is this happening?

Thanks.

Minor issue here. I have a lite on dvd recorder that came with a nero 6. Recently I upgraded to nero 7 ultra and now I notice that when I playback a burned dvd in my dvd player that it cannot fast forward over 2x the speed. It simply freezes up then return to the original menu. Before I could fast forward a scene up to 8x the speed(the maximum of my dvd player).
I tried changing the settings just before I burn my dvd. First making sure that it was a the maximum setting. Then i tried to change the write speed setting to 8x. No change. Like I said this is minor but I was wondering if this is a glitch with nero 7 ultra or did upgrading somehow change a setting or what? Thnks!

Any way to fix the coding on it or something? When i want to burn a dvd it brings me to use the nero vision 4 program, it works on certain dvd players but not all, is there any way of fixing this?

A:Burned dvds using nero wont work on certain dvd players

Make sure you are not creating a multi-session disk and ensure that you finalize the disc. Also dvd players have an easier time reading DVD+R than DVD-R.

This is a minor issue but I have a external lite on that came with a nero 6. Recently I upgraded to nero 7 ultra. Now when I playback my burned dvd to my dvd player I notice that when I fast forward at anything more 2x the speed the dvd freezes then returns to the original menu. I never had this issue when I used my nero 6. I use to be able to fast forwarda burned dvd at 8x the speed, the maximum of my dvd player.
Except for this everything else seems to work fine. I tried changing the speed in the nero vision 4 just before burning. First I made sure that the write settings were on max. When that didn't work I tried setting the write speed to 8x. Still no change. Is this some glitch with nero 7 ultra or has my setting been some how changed when I upgraded?

A:Problems fast forwarding burned nero 7 ulta dvds

Are you still using the same media? Try changing to a different make of blank media and don't always assume that setting the write speed to max is a good idea!

A:Cannot read burned Cd's

Hi Gyatsuikan and welcome to TSF

Does your computer show anyother problems? Is your computer a desktop or laptop?

Look in the Device Manager and see if there are any yellow marks by your CD/DVD devices branch. That would indicate the device driver is bad or corrupted. Expand the branch and see if the CD drive is shown there.

Have your ran your virus and spyware programs lately? It could be a malware problem. If you are not already using these, download and run SpyBot Search & Destroy and SuperAntiSpyware. Both are very good.

I have a freind who sent me pics on a cd that he had burned using Toast on his Mac. I am using XP Pro and cannot see anything on the disk. When I look at the disk I can see that something has been burned to it, but when I put it in the CD drive, it comes up as empty.

Any ideas? Is this because he burned it on a mac? If so, is there any software that I can install so that I can see the pics?

Or is this just a bad burn, perhaps the session was not closed properly?

A:How To Read A Cd Burned On A Mac

it's not the CD that's incompatible as such, it's the image files on it. Some image formats are not cross-platform, you have to save them according to whether they are for for PC or Mac (the 'byte order' is different but don't ask me to expand on that please!).

From memory, I think TIFF images have to be saved according to the intended platform (where the option is available). Where no option exists then it will only be compatible with the host platform, or the chosen format is cross-platform.

JPEG format images, however, are cross platform I think, without any platform option required, but I can't swear to that.

The last time I gave some images to a mac owner from my PC, they were in TIFF format (to preserve quality) and I used the "save for macintosh" option in Photoshop. He had no trouble viewing them on his mac.

Unfortunately, not all image editing software gives you the choice of which platform to save the image to even when using a format that's not cross-platform. You'll have to ask your friend which image-editor he uses and to check what saving options it has. If he sent you TIFFS, ask him to save as JPEGs instead and try those.

Because that file is 65 MB, I suggested they open the CD and copy the file to their HDD and run it from there, but they can't even open it.

Hi Guys

I have this very annoying problem.
Many of dvds that I burned can't be read.
Some as soon as the next day after I burned them, some weeks or months later.
I always check after finish burning (open all that I burn from the disc) & it's always OK so no failure when burning.
How to determine for sure if the problem is with my dvd writer or with the blank disc ( I use Mitsubishi dvd-r )

Thank you

Hi All Im new to this forum and appreciate in advance any help Starting yesterday I've been having this weird startup problem on my Dell Dimension XP Home SP desktop I just finished installing Norton Systemworks and some other Issues Bizarre Please - Read! A:Bizarre Startup Issues - Please Read!

Video driver lock? Does it exhibit this behaviour in safe mode? Restart the PC and hit F8 at the Dell logo.

If it does not lock in safe mode, then the video driver may be corrupt or have bad settings. Remove the driver from device manager and restart the system and try booting into normal mode. Windows will redetect the nVidia card and should install a generic nVidia driver. It should get you to a point where you can do the driver updates at Dell's website.

If it DOES lock up in safe mode, we'll be dealing with a more serious problem. Now, it may be OS related, but it may not be. The 8200's don't have any form of onboard video to test with, so that's out of the question. Since the generic VGA driver is being used in safe mode, this won't be a video driver issue.

So I've recently built a new machine for gaming and work etc and I was having some issues which I thought I'd nailed down to being related to my SSD which I was running the OS off of. I wiped the ssd and the HDD I was using for storage and reinstalled the OS on the HDD, leaving the SSD out of the box entirely. It was working fine for a day until this morning. When I turned it on it gave me the "Select OS" prompt as if I had multiple OSs installed on different drives. Both options were Win 7 but the second option gave me a "device cannot be found" error as if it was looking for the original win 7 install that was on the SSD. I'm at a loss for what to do.

A:Windows 7 bizarre issue, please read

Hello, are you saying the OS is crashing and you can't get back on or do you need the other options gone so it can just auto boot without the prompt?

If it's crashing, it sounds like a driver issue. On your motherboard do you have two different SATA ports? Like one is Intel and the other Gigabyte (just making this up)? But the solution is to make sure you install the drivers for them from the CD that came with your motherboard. You can try switching to the other and see what happens.

Try swapping cables too just a to be sure. Follow your motherboard recommendation for the proper BIOS setting for SATA if you haven't.

Please help, I had a problem with NERO burning a CD and I had to shut it down. Now I can't read any burned CDs that I could before this happened. It will read any that are originals and DVDs. I don't have a very fancy computer....I bought a COMPAQ....before you say it I know it may not be the best but it does what I needed it to for a home computer. What can I do to solve this problem. I read another thread were they had a similar problem with a SONY CD/DVD but used NERO too. SONY had no answers but to send another drive. Could this be a NERO problem? Please help!!!!!

A:Help please. CD/DVD did read burned cds but wont now

you can try cleaning the Rom with a cleaning disk, but if it is an older one it may be just need replacing.
If you have updated any software you may have to check Nero's info tool to see if you aspi layer was corrupted.
You can also check for a firmware update for the drive and then update Nero to the latest version

Hi there,

I have burned many DVD (data) on my XP before I switch a computer. Now that I have a Vista x64, the CD drive won't read them. If I use ISOBuster I can see the track and extract them. But if I use Windows Explorer it will prompt me to "prepare blank disc"! Any help? I already finalize the disc and confimred it. Do a hardware diagnostic check and turns out nothing went wrong.

By the way, how can I make Vista not look for application if I insert other CD. (By that I mean just open the CD rather than look for autoplay, I already disable autoplay.)

It could be the brand of disc that your Vista machine doesn't like. I had to change brands when I got my Vista, the CD's I used on my XP and WinME machine would read but I couldn't write to them in Vista.
Try another brand and see if that makes a difference, that's all I can offer in the way of help

Hello:

I am using an "HP Pavilion (zv5240us)" Notebook PC runing Windows XP Home.

I am having trouble reading CDs that have been burned ( using Nero 5.5.7.8, and Adeptec DirectCD 2.5).

The drive is a "Toshiba" DVD/CD-ROM (SD-R2512).

I have looked but have found reason for the problem.

Can anyone help?

A:Solved: cd-rom / can't read Burned CDs

You will only be able to read CD's created by Adaptec's Direct CD on computers with that programme installed (specifically the 'Direct CD' part of Adaptec) or maybe a computer with a UDF viewer installed. No Windows machine can read those types of disc natively.
Which brings up the question of how the Nero discs were burned? Nero has a similar INCD programme whereby, if used, the same rules as above apply.
If burned with Nero's Burning Rom, what type of discs are they? Were the discs finalised? Non finalised burned discs can cause problems when trying to read them on a drive that did not create them.

I have 2 CD reader/writers in a Dell Dimension 4100 w/ Windows XP Home and neither one will read burned CD's (used both Roxio and Nero to burn several attempts). It merely says "BlanK CD", but both CD players will read store bought CD's (data, music, games, whatever) no problem. Upon removing both CD players and installing in another computer, the other computer reads the same burned CD's just fine. The other computer is an even older Dell with Windows ME and is in poor shape. The problem appears to be with the newer machine, not the CD players. Anyone seen this before?

Hi.

I have a Tecra T9100 and the MAT****A DVDROM now won't*read burned CDs.
It has no problems when reading manufactured CDs / DVDs.

I noticed this after upgrading the BIOS with the 1.6 version.

Is there something else I need to do / configure / install ?

Thank you.

A:Tecra 9100 won't read burned CDs

Hi

Maybe you should check different CDs from different manufacturers and should change the burning speed to the slowest one.

If this will not help then a CD/DVD drive issue might be the reason why not all disks are readable.

A:DVD drive won't read NEW DVDs it has burned

Hi there

DVD's should be FINALIZED before they will read in different DVD drives / standard DVD players etc. You might still have a session open on Multi-session.

Check also HOW you are burning DVD's - there's quite a few different things -- for example data (as a DVD-ROM), as an .ISO as a VIDEO DVD as a DVD rip etc etc. DVD authoring also requires a different setup such as "cloning" or copying DVD's. Also are the DVD's Double layer or what. All sorts of possible things here.

Subject is a bit too complex without more info.

So I am having a strange issue reading a burned DVD-DL disk in my Blu Ray drive.
I create the disk in the Blu Ray drive using either Nero Burning Rom 2014 or even Windows Explorer and
when I pop the disk back in to verify data it will not read the disk. If I pop the disk in my regular DVD burner it reads just fine.
Among my regular troubleshooting I thought maybe my Blu Ray burner was going bad so I bought a brand new drive from a different manufacturer and it still won't read. Don't recall having this problem in the past.
Hoping someone has had a similar issue. Not even sure how to search for this without a super long string.

Thanks,
Toby

Try IsoBuster. It will tell you if there's anything on the CD and, even if there was an error during burning, it will recover the files to your hard drive.

A DVD-\+R can hold about 4.37 gibibytes (GiB), which translates into roughly 4.7 gigabytes (GB). So your DVDs are perfectly fine. Also, refer to this quality guide for DVD\CD media.

Hi,

I'm using 'Nero' on an 'Artec' CD burner, it had a trial version of Nero that
came with it, but that expired, much to my annoyance. ( Nero Express )

I am now using 'Nero 6 Ultra Edition' and it does write to my re-writeables,
but they can only be read in this unit.

That is a drawback for back-ups, i would like my other CD units to read them
too.

Maybe i am doing it wrong,
there are several 'modes' to use, maybe i am using the wrong one ?

I cant find the part where you alter the mode.

Any help would be appreciated, any info needed i will try to find ...

I burned my first CD-R using Nero. Selected ISO CD and clicked on data CD. Burned a large number of photo images in JPG format. When finished went back and tried to view the recorded images with my graphics viewer. Unable to read the header was the message by the viewer. Any ideas what went wrong?

A:Nero Burning JPG Images-Can't Read

Welcome to TSG

Try selecting “Data CD” from the opening window and go with the defaults. Nero has a special “image” capability which is for imaging a drive or partition and has nothing to do with pictures. Your ISO selection makes me suspect that is what you are fooling with.

Or use the guide for starting a multi-session data CD if you are not filling the CD and want to add more sessions. Use the start a non multi-session if you are filling the CD. To write a second session use the continue a multi-session: http://www.nero.com/en/content/c1034060180057.html

I have had this problem over the years and never really pursued it, but now I am wondering why. Many times Nero Disk Speed will not recognize a perfectly good drive, one that burns fine, is recognized by Driver Manager & Imgburn. This has happened on all the Nero Drive Speed programs not just one. T.I.A.

Is this Nero 12 Express, or, older Nero?

Did you maybe already try turning your machine completely off, waiting about 10 to 30 seconds, then turning it back on? What have you tried?

I have been trying to back up my data onto DVDs and I have tried using Nero9 and Roxio 10 and in each case the DVD burns fine, but each time I try to read it in Windows Explorer, although it lists all the data that is burned on the disk, it freezes and will not open any file type, or folder on the burned data dvd.. help!?!??!!

A:Windows XP does not read a burned DVD-RW disc without freezing in Windows Explorer

I'm not sure about how to fix this, but my advice would be not to use re-writeable discs anyway, especially as backups, I've found them problematic in the past.

I suggest using DVDR's (+ or - doesn't matter), ok they are only writeable once but they are more stable and they're a lot cheaper anyway (I buy 100 for ?15), and also you might consider an external HD for backing up.

In my experience RW discs are more hassle then they're worth

If there is a "Firmware" update for that dvd drive, I would update the firmware .

If it is a store bought PC, Make and model of PC

If it is a custom built PC, Make and model of DVD drive.

Before I wiped my computer I made back-up discs of all my impportant stuff using Nero's back-up program/function. After I successfully reinstalled Windows and Nero on my computer, I tried to retrive my files from those discs. All of the files now end with the extension '.nbi'(Nero BackItUp Compressed File). I tried opening some of the word documents with word and none of the characters looked even remotely like what was in the document. How do I retrieve these files? I'm worried they are as good as lost.

I have a CD-RW that is formatted for packet-writing won't read software CD Nero from InCD the InCD program that is bundled w Nero it formats the CD-RW so I can add move and delete just like a floppy disc I was mvoing some files off my HD onto the CD-RW -- it moved the st file and most of the nd file Then it stopped and said it couldn InCD packet-writing software from Nero won't read CD t find the correct path for the nd file It looked like the file had already copied to the CD but it was also still on the HD So I assumed it had a problem deleting the file on the HD after it was moved When I tried to access the files on the CD-RW to make sure they were InCD packet-writing software from Nero won't read CD both there the computer crashed I rebooted and now it won InCD packet-writing software from Nero won't read CD t read any of the files that are on the CD-RW It appears to be a blank CD When I try to open it thru InCD all it does is ask me if I want to format the blank CD So my guess is that the program isn t reading the header on the CD becuz the header was corrupted when InCD was trying to re-write it after adding the additional files So how do I gain access to files that are on the CD-RW I had a lot of stuff on there I don t want to lose I m sure it s all still there it s just a matter of getting the program to recognize that the files are there nbsp

A:InCD packet-writing software from Nero won't read CD

ISOBuster may give some access to the CD, but this is one reason why you should never use packet writing unless the data is of no consequence.
http://www.isobuster.com/

It is the most unreliable form of data storage, one for which the CD was not originally designed. A CD-RW means ReWritable (erase and re-use) not Read-Write. They are OK in that latter mode generally.

I suspect you are quite right in your diagnosis that the TOC is corrupt, which means there is now just a heap binary data on the CD with no easy way of determining the start and end of each individual file.

Today, I burned the data into the multisession CD R/RW CD that I had used only once earlier i.e. I burned the second session onto the CD and finalised it. The data burned successfully. Then I tried to copy the data from this CD on another system which had a SAMSUNG COMBO Drive. It reads only the first session burned on the CD and does not show the second session burned onto the CD and also shows the space acquired by the second session to be blank/unused.
Please let me know where the problem is and how to solve this problem and make the latter read the data?

It may not be possible for a specific drive to read the multi-session disk. How old is the Samsung drive?

well, not to the point where my burn messes up.. this burner rocks (LTR52327S). it only does it with audio cds though, not data. takes the normal 2-3 minutes with data cds. i really have no clue what its about and have even scanned for viruses just to make sure. audio cds (that are about 45 minutes in length) take about 7 minutes and that isn't normal, not even for a 32x cd (on a 52x burner). basically the used-read buffer and recorder don't stay constant and shift about every 15 seconds. help would be appreciated.

Next press the Apply button and then the OK to exit the Internet Properties page.

Use an AntiVirus Software - It is very important that your computer has an anti-virus software running on your machine. This alone can save you a lot of trouble with malware in the future.

See this link for a listing of some online & their stand-alone antivirus programs:
Virus, Spyware, and Malware Protection and Removal Resources

Update your AntiVirus Software - It is imperative that you update your Antivirus software at least once a week (Even more if you wish). If you do not update your antivirus software then it will not be able to catch any of the new variants that may come out.

Use a Firewall - I can not stress how important it is that you use a Firewall on your computer. Without a firewall your computer is succeptible to being hacked and taken over. I am very serious about this and see it happen almost every day with my clients. Simply using a Firewall in its default configuration can lower your risk greatly.

For a tutorial on Firewalls and a listing of some available ones see the link below:
Understanding and Using Firewalls

Visit Microsoft's Windows Update Site Frequently - It is important that you visit http://www.windowsupdate.com regularly. This will ensure your computer has always the latest security updates available installed on your computer. If there are new updates to install, install them immediately, reboot your computer, and revisit the site until there are no more critical updates.

Install Spybot - Search and Destroy - Install and download Spybot - Search and Destroy with its TeaTimer option. This will provide realtime spyware & hijacker protection on your computer alongside your virus protection. You should also scan your computer with program on a regular basis just as you would an antivirus software.

A tutorial on installing & using this product can be found here:
Using Spybot - Search & Destroy to remove Spyware , Malware, and Hijackers

Install Ad-Aware - Install and download Ad-Aware. ou should also scan your computer with program on a regular basis just as you would an antivirus software in conjunction with Spybot.

A tutorial on installing & using this product can be found here:
Using Ad-aware to remove Spyware, Malware, & Hijackers from Your Computer

Install SpywareBlaster - SpywareBlaster will added a large list of programs and sites into your Internet Explorer settings that will protect you from running and downloading known malicious programs.

Restart to safe mode.

How to start your computer in safe mode

Because XP will not always show you hidden files and folders by default, Go to Start > Search and under "More advanced search options".
Make sure there is a check by "Search System Folders" and "Search hidden files and folders" and "Search system subfolders"

Next click on My Computer. Go to Tools > Folder Options. Click on the View tab and make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is checked. Also uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" and "Hide extensions for known file types" . Now click "Apply to all folders"
Click "Apply" then "OK"

Now find and delete these files:

nwpeter.exe
ocmanmgr.exe

Delete this folder:

C:\Program Files\AutoUpdate

Also in safe mode navigate to the C:\Windows\Temp folder. Open the Temp folder and go to Edit > Select All then Edit > Delete to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder.

Go to Start > Run and type %temp% in the Run box. The Temp folder will open. Click Edit > Select All then Edit > Delete to delete the entire contents of the Temp folder.

Finally go to Control Panel > Internet Options. On the General tab under "Temporary Internet Files" Click "Delete Files". Put a check by "Delete Offline Content" and click OK. Click on the Programs tab then click the "Reset Web Settings" button. Click Apply then OK.
Empty the Recycle Bin
Boot back to Windows normally now.
Go here and download Ad-Aware SE.

Install the program and launch it.

First in the main window look in the bottom right corner and click on Check for updates now then click Connect and download the latest reference files.

From main window :Click Start then under Select a scan Mode tick Perform full system scan.

Next deselect Search for negligible risk entries.

Now to scan just click the Next button.

When the scan is finished mark everything for removal and get rid of it.(Right-click the window and choose select all from the drop down menu and click Next)

Restart your computer.
Go here and download Microsoft Antispyware Beta. First press file and check for updates and then run it.

Let it fix anything that it finds (have it quarantine them rather than delete just in case. It is a beta program and there may be false positives)

Restart your computer.

I recently finished a completely new PC, and have been having problems. I'm using a DFI Lanparty UT nf3 250gb mobo. First of all, I had a defective hard drive and Windows XP wouldn't install correctly. Now I have a new hard drive and it's acting up again. I keep getting the error: "Ntkrnlmp.exe Could Not Be Loaded Error Code 7" when I need to install the RAID drivers for the mobo. And now when I try to access the mobo BIOS right after startup, it gets as far as "detecting array" and merely reboots. Any suggestions?

I have an external hard drive with some files backed up from an old XP system using Nero Back Up software (files have the .NBA extension)
I am looking for a new computer and will want to install some of these files onto the new computer. Am I able to do this if the Nero software is not installed on the new computer, or will I have to buy Nero software just to add these files to the new computer? If so, is that always the case, that one must restore files using the same software used to backup the files?
Thanks.

A:Restoring file backed up on old system with Nero..do I need Nero

Yes, you will need to install the Nero Backup software in order to restore the .nba files.

You can try using their free version of NeroBackItUp from here http://www.nero.com/enu/downloads/ to see if that will work.

If not, they have older versions of the same free program http://www.nero.com/enu/downloads/previous-versions/nero-backitup.php

See if you can find the same version that you used to do the backup.

There are other programs you can use to do backups that don't require the same program to restore files. I use SyncBackFree to backup my files. You can use the same program to restore files, but it's not necessary. You can just copy the files back with Windows Explorer.

Hello Again,

When I install Nero 7 and I run nero 7

It shows error message:
Nero 7 Stopped working Please Close Program.

PLEASE HELP ME!?!

A:PLEASE HELP: Nero Ultra 7 stops working after installation of Nero

Nero 7 is very old. Its probably not Windows 7 compatible.

Try running it in a compatiblility model for Windows XP.

You may even have to reinstall it in a compatibility mode.

When i click on Nero Burning ROM, it does not open at all. All that happens is i get a windows error report telling me that nero.exe encountered a problem. I have succesfully used this many times before, but one day it just stopped working.

Any idea of what is wrong?

I am using Nero BackItUp Nero Ultra and have been receiving quot data verification failed quot and quot Sector NNNNNN on disc has different content to verification (Nero 7) errors with data Nero BackItUp2 source quot errors recently On the same PC Win XP Pro SP I got the errors using two different burners an HP data verification errors with Nero BackItUp2 (Nero 7) and a Sony and trying both a DVD RW and a DVD R FYI I use Shadow Copy for the burn the burn process completes without error every time i e - the error only occurs during data verification errors with Nero BackItUp2 (Nero 7) verification and I have burned to the DVD RW many times before without incident More generally I didn data verification errors with Nero BackItUp2 (Nero 7) t get data verification errors before so I am wondering why I might be getting them now Also could someone tell me what exactly quot Sector NNNNNN on disc has different content to source quot means I assume it means that the source and target files are not matching in some cases More importantly is it a big deal I ran the ScanDisc in Nero CD-DVD Speed and both DVDs had good sectors damaged or bad Nero log file attached Thanks Aaron Allen Albuquerque NM nbsp

Hello everyone I attempted to burn a video file onto a DVD with Nero Express However the software only allows either bup vob or ifo files After googling such terms on the web I came across several forums communities and whatnot where people kept saying that Nero Vision is required in order to convert the files you want into bup vob Nero Vision. File Express. DVD Nero structures!? or ifo I have absolutely zero clue as Nero Express. Nero Vision. DVD File structures!? to Nero Express. Nero Vision. DVD File structures!? why the company behind Nero didn t include Nero Express. Nero Vision. DVD File structures!? Nero Vision in Nero s software suite Because without it Nero Express is totally useless But I digress I jumped on Nero Vision but was told by the software that my project could only fit into a DVD- Question I have burnable DVDs for min gb Doesn t that mean that even if my project exceeds minutes in length if it still doesn t exceed the size limit it s supposed to work What on earth is a DVD- anyways Question If you can just power on Nero Vision and immediately get your original file and burn it why does Nero Express require all this bup vob ifo nonsense Question What are the major differences between immediately burning your original file onto a DVD and converting that into the required bup vob and ifo formats Question How would I go about doing that with Nero Vision EDIT Realized that the only way to burn past that time limit min My file exceeds hours in length is to decrease its quality which I do not want to do So I should go with the vob bup ifo stuff right How would I go about converting my original movie file mp to those formats So that i can then take those into Nero Express and make a DVD PS Why is all of this so complicated Geez nbsp

Yesterday I did a clean install of Windows 8.1 in order to fix a BSOD problem

All of my hardware checks out great, but I'm being very careful about adding programs and devices.

I have a few questions:

1. Should I look for updates for anything that Windows tends to miss? Dell updates?
2. I took Malwarebytes off because I heard about it causing BSOD. Any other recommendations for protection or does Windows do a pretty decent job?
3. Any other things you'd like to recommend I have on my computer to keep it running smooth and avoid BSOD are appreciated!
So far Windows 8.1 runs very smooth!

A:Adding anything to freshly installed Windows 8.1

hello ,I will add a few comments ,I have use malwarebytes for years ,and recently bought the pro version ,and use it along with windows defender ,all is ok so far ,but I do watch where I surf and download programs from ,I have never had malwarebytes cause a bsod ,they are usually caused by bad ram or device driver errors ,also best that you get Dell updates from dell and not windows
you should have gotten a error message with the bsod that would help with what caused it

A couple of problems

1-ASACPI.SYS

The pre 2009 version of this driver is a known BSOD cause.

Please visit this link: ASUS teK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download P7P55D LE
ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download P7P55D LE

Scroll down to the Utilities category, then scroll down to the "ATK0110 driver for WindowsXP/Vista/Windows 7 32&64-bit" (it's about the 12th item down).
Download and install it.
Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers to check and make sure that the ASACPI.SYS file is date stamped from 2009 or 2010 (NOTbefore).
2-Old drivers

Code:
ASACPI.sys 3/27/2005 9:30:36 PM fffff880`05594000 fffff880`0559c000 0x00008000 0x42476c4c
SiWinAcc.sys 6/14/2007 7:02:02 PM fffff880`01155000 fffff880`0115e000 0x00009000 0x4671d6fa
SiRemFil.sys 6/20/2007 2:42:10 PM fffff880`01fe8000 fffff880`01ff0000 0x00008000 0x46798312
SI3132.sys 10/3/2007 1:39:29 PM fffff880`0120b000 fffff880`01225000 0x0001a000 0x4703e1e1
How To Find Drivers:

Quote:
- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.

- - The most common drivers are listed on this page: Driver Reference Driver Reference
- - Driver manufacturer links are on this page: Drivers and Downloads
3 You might want to put in your system specs so we know what hardware we azre dealing with .Related to MDFSYSNT.SYS MacDrive Partition Manager from Mediafour Corporation.

Dumps blame atikmdag.sys, your ATI display drivers

- Boot into safe mode with networking
- Uninstall the ATI drivers including Catalyst Control Center
- Use driver sweeper to remove leftover ATI display driver files Guru3D - Driver Sweeper (This step is important)
- Reboot into safe mode with networking
- Install the latest drivers ATI Radeon
- Reboot into normal mode

Check your GPU temps and your RAM if the above does not work
RAM - Test with Memtest86+

Code:
BugCheck 3B, {c0000005, fffff880048d3817, fffff88007824900, 0}

Probably caused by : atikmdag.sys ( atikmdag+90817 )

I'm wrestling with this issue for a week now since I decide to format my hard drive and reinstall my Win Ultimate X I'm using my computer and out of Ultimate 7 up keeps Win freezing Freshly X64 reinstalled nowhere it suddenly slows down drastically and finally freezes nothing helps but hitting the reset button Interestingly it never happens during watching videos or playing video games only when I browse Freshly reinstalled Win 7 Ultimate X64 keeps freezing up or I try to return to Windows I'm still looking for the pattern in the error I checked the event log I saw a few error messages with the Freshly reinstalled Win 7 Ultimate X64 keeps freezing up graphics drive I have read that the latest version is unstable so I reverted to a previous version which was said stable but it didn't solve the issue Nor did turning off hardware acceleration in Firefox the issue didn't appear exclusively during browsing anyway Currently I'm stuck The event log doesn't tell anything useful for me any more so I'm turning to the experts here maybe they can solve my issue Thanks in advance p s I should add that my previous installation worked fine but it was several years old slow to boot up etc so I felt it's time to reinstall it So hardware issues are most likely ruled out
