I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A:Laptop Problems; Samsung Ultrabook Series 5

This sort of problem is tough to troubleshoot over the internet. It could be quite a few things that could cause the symptoms that you're experiencing. With that said, I'd probably start with updating the discrete GPU drivers. Since you did switch from integrated to discrete, this could be the main cause for the graphic glitches which is probably crashing the system.

Moving forward, I think you should download something like CPU-Z to monitor the CPU load and temperatures during the crashes. It could be that your CPU is overheating and could use some attention.

A:AMD Radeon Rx 300 series rumored to include many rebranded cards

It saves money on R&D and manufacturing as you don't have to research anything new or get in/ change any equipment which is good for the business as it's saving costs, but it is poor for technology and comes across as incredibly lazy. It's 2015 and they're still releasing cards produced in 2012, at least Nvidia cards offer some improvements, even if they are a rebrand.

Go here - http://us.gateway.com/gw/en/US/content/drivers-downloads
Then put "NE71B" in the product model box. You may also need to change the OS version to 64-bit, before a listing will show.
The camera software is listed under the application tab.
I didn't see a driver listing for the camera, so Windows may have generic drivers installed.
If reinstalling software doesn't work, I'm not sure what else to say.

A:Three long beeps on Intel desktop board D850MV/D850EMV2

I think three beeps on Intel is a memory issue. At least that what it was when I had a stick of cheap RAM crap out on me.

I'd run Memtest and go from there

RAM can fail from a number of causes. Heat exposure, flaky transistor junctions, who knows. I seriously doubt plugging the TV in had anything to do with it.
You could go into BIOS to ascertain if the RAM voltage is set correctly. Over-volting is a DIMM killer.

You should be able to get documentation for that board directly off Intel's web site. Intel used to give BIOS beep codes ion the board/chipset manuals.

They also have hardware monitor software as a free download. Look up "Intel Desktop Utilities Lite".

It depends on what you are referring to, there is not real issues with the R series GPU's in terms of display output. Most of the associated problems people are having involve a few things:

Some of the 4k monitors (The AOC for instance) use a very odd way to refresh which caused the display to flicker on the R9 series GPU's which was resolved in a recent patch.

Some high refresh displays using DP

and some others

However I would not worry, most of the problems if any are fixed via patches and catalyst revisions. If the manufacturer has to update something like the this its normally involves something like with their own software or certain things in environments not working together properly. I would not worry, I have done nothing to my PowerColor R9 290X trio and they all work great.

A:Steelseries 7g keyboard locks up and beeps

Try seeing if the PS/2 to USB connector helps at all. I think it is a sticky key problem. Beeping usually occurs when a key is being overly held down. Try it with any key if you want to see what I am talking about (make sure no text boxes are selected). When the beeping begins, press the key again to make the key come up. I am looking for a RAM card for an old HP 6600 series computer running Windows 95. Does anyone have any suggestions on a card.
Thanks

A:Need RAM card for HP 6600 series

Wow, I haven't seen an old HP Pavilion 6000 series computer in a good long time! Your going to be a little hard pressed when going to your local computer store and trying to buy a stick of RAM for this thing. Man, a 6600 running Windows 95, I haven't seen a computer run Windows 95 in eons. Well I'll try my best to snap out of my little "shock and ahhhh" thing and get back to talking about the RAM.

Again, going to your local computer store might be pointless, most likely they aren't going to have anything for you. But by happens chance I took the liberty in doing a bit of searching on-line for a supplier that still provides RAM for the old HP Pavilion 6000 series. Give the following place a look...

Arch Memory Store
http://www.archmemory.com/ram.cfm/H...y-RAM-for-HP-Pavilion-6600-Series-23118-63607

Now seeing what I saw on that web site made me shake my head and think to myself that upgrading this old dinosaur of yours might not be worth it. This web site only provides 3 different memory sizes for your computer. (1) 32MB's, (2) 64MB's and last (3) 128MB's of memory! I'd hate to hear what your system currently has as far as the amount of memory it has. With a bare minimum of 64MB's of RAM your system will run really bare bones and "no thrills" with something like Windows 2000 Professional! Your going to have to pump it up a notch and maybe try for 128MB's of RAM, if you want to install and run things, again at pretty much "no thrills" with something like Windows XP. But with Operating Systems like Windows Vista, Windows 7 and the up and coming Windows 8, I don't care how much RAM you try to squeeze into that old computer, it isn't going to be close to enough.

Again, if I'm on the mark here and truly found your computer and this is the one, I would again think twice about upgrading it! Plus with it running Windows 95, finding product support for that via the web is going to be impossible, Microsoft stopped providing support for that product 17 years ago.

I'll shut up now, just due to bafflement alone, I can't stop rambling about this!

Good luck.....

I just got a new CPU, it's an AMD FX 4-core unit. Dont have a Fx series myself, but as far as I know they should work fine in an am3 motherboard. being backwards compatable (am3 +)

Clear your cmos after installing the new cpu, Reset your bios to optimal/auto, And double check your motherboard supports your cpu.

If that wont work I would RMA it if possible.

Hope this helps

Following instructions I opened and cleaned the interior electronics after it developed overheating problems that would result in it powering down. Following reassembly the computer will eventually restart but only after failing bootup at leastg two times. At initial startup or boot from hibernation the computer does not appear to reach boot source but emits a series of beeps, first 1 beep, then 3 beeps, another three beeps, and finally 1 beep. These are all about 1 second long and seperated by 1 second. Pressing and holding the start button again sometimes resuls in a full repeat of the above or the computer emits the series of 1single beats, 4 beats, one second long and one second seperation. Eventually pressing and holding he power button will evenually result in hearing the computer attempt to boot from the CD ROM (which is second on the list after the Internal HDD). Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, my gateway laptop has recently starting to get 8 beeps. The pattern for these beeps are 2 beeps, 2 beeps, 2 beeps, 2 beeps. Some googling points to a possible hardware or bios issue. The problem is i cannot find a solution and i cannot send my laptop to gateway because i need this laptop for school. Any help at all will be greatly appreciated.

A:Gateway 8 beeps BIOS/hardware problem?

Beep Codes
As you suspect, not good news to have a beep notice of failure? but you have to talk to Gateway tech support, if you can find them. Often it is a partial system board failure caused by overheating or curling of the board. This may or may not be helpful here. We have well over 277 beep codes in the our tech lab database.

As you probably know, every time a computer is switched on it performs a short diagnostic routine known as the POST, or Power On Self Test. The POST is a small program contained in the BIOS. It checks that basic hardware is present and performs a rudimentary memory test. The POST announces the results of its routine both audibly (a series of beeps on the PC speaker) and visually (displaying a brief summary or codes on the screen).

The audible method is essential since a fault may exist with the graphics card or monitor. If all is well, the computer typically emits a single beep and carries on booting. The number and duration of the beeps is intended as a coded message and understanding them will allow you to diagnose any problems the computer may have.

The codes vary according to the manufacturer of the BIOS and the build year of the computer.. Here are some of the more common codes for two beeps we have on our list. Unfortunately, not of them are specifically listed for a Gateway laptop.: To save space they are grouped together. Remember it all depends on the BIOS and the build. Each line is a separate code, and may be from any manufacturer... I give them here as examples.

two short Parity circuit failure

Hi
I just moved my system (Asus M2N sli deluxe) to a new Antec computer case, and installed a large Noctua heat sink. Still using the same video card (Asus en7200gs). when I tried to boot up I got the error code. Makes sense b/c I don't get any video. I tried re-seating the video card and tried a different slot. No luck.

I just ordered a new video card to try out (I could use the HDMI upgrade anyways), but I have doubts that will fix it based on other inconclusive threads I have read.

What else could the problem be? Could it be the new CPU heatsink? Maybe the motherboard is bowed? Anything else I can try?

Just try the new video card when it comes in. The beeping may mean that the motherboard is okay

Hello Techspot,

I would just like to know your opinions on waiting for the Radeon HD 7000 series. It is more discussion like then a personal question.

I would like to know if you will wait for the HD 7000 series, and why.

No, the 6870 should do me if I decide to upgrade my 4870.

I can play games like minecraft well on High performance and HD, 3D graphics but I want to play more games like Battlefield and Black Ops, MW2 MW3 -Beta. I use Game booster but it only seems to end my processes, how can i run my laptop to be faster for gaming without lag?

A:How can I make my HP Pavillion G-series computer run games faster?

go into battery settings and change to high performance, also most the time with laptops specs dont handle like there advertised due to battery and "saving space" issues. On top of that just try doing the normal, clear off empty hdd space, and use a good defrag program like auslogics and optimize to read the data faster. Trust me gaming is hard enough with just BF2 on my dinosaur of a laptop stuck to windowed resolutions of 800x600

Hello TechSpotians I have been thinking about gettin myself an upgrade for my PC You may have seen many of my threads and may have called me quick at changing my mind 6950 Radeon the 7xxx the series or for 2GB? get HD HD Wait Radeon looks at Leeky As the title states I would like to get myself a hd GB I have read something up on the future hd xxx series and articles Wait for the Radeon HD 7xxx series or get the HD Radeon 6950 2GB? said that they would have more processing power and etc I have heard that AMD might be releasing some of the hd xxx series Q and start mass manufacturing in Q But as AMD starts the production of the office cards first Wait for the Radeon HD 7xxx series or get the HD Radeon 6950 2GB? and then up to the high end cards it might take a while So my question is will it be worth the time to wait for the hd xxx series or just get Wait for the Radeon HD 7xxx series or get the HD Radeon 6950 2GB? the hd Thanks EDIT I don t think it is known if the xxx series will support CrossFire with the xxx series but I heard that you can CF a xxx series with a xxx series Is that true nbsp

A:Wait for the Radeon HD 7xxx series or get the HD Radeon 6950 2GB?

i would get the 6950, thats a very powerful crd as of now with great driver support, even though the 7xxx series is coming out it usually takes like 2 -3 months for decent driver support and longer sometimes with crossfire support in games. as for the crossfire question, u can crossfire cards from the same generation so 5xxx series only crossfires with 5xxxseries and the same for 6xxx, my friend has a 4870x2 and was starting to lag a bit in BC2 so i got him a 4890 and we put those in crossfire, works much better. But yeah i would get the 6950 now and like u said the nice 7xxx series prob won;t be out til after CES in early 2012

I get constant long (about 8 seconds) loud beeping noise one out of 2 times i turn on my comp.. and i would be really thankful if someone would point me in the right direction.. one out of 2 times i turn on my comp.. it starts beeping.. after i restart it a couple of times, windows starts up and works normally without any problem.I checked the Complete Bios BEEP guide but i didnt really find anything for my situation.. I have a custom built comp.. XFX nForce 790i ultra sli motherboard with Core2Duo Processor (3.16ghz), 6 gb of ram, (3x 2gb, there r 4 slots for ram.. so 3 out of 4 are filled) , 750w power supply, GTX470 vid card..

A:Constant long, loud beeps?

When did this problem start? had you changed anything before it started to happen? What is the age of the system?

Check all external and internal connections, remove all cards including the Memory and clean the contacts with a soft pencil eraser (up and down the contacts not from side to side) and reseat the cards. Test.

You could also try a start up with just one memory stick installed, then swap so you test with one stick at a time. Also try with just one memory stick per channel.

What is the make of your bios? you will see the name at the top of the screen during post. Please also state your OS.

AMD have released their new-ish graphics part numbers for systems that pair Llano APU?s with desktop discrete cards.
The standout seems to be HD 6530D or 6550D (APU) + HD 6670 (discrete) = HD 6990D2, which seems to either a huuuuuuge step up in hybrid crossfire, or a guaranteed source of confusion (at the very least).

An already mind-boggling and congested graphics market is about to hit eleven on the one-to-ten scale.

I have tried everything to get my Laptop ( win vista ) to communicate with my Lexmark printer. All my network connection and sharing seem to be in order. The only 'unconnected' thing I see is my Local Area Connection is unplugged. But, I am running on a wireless connection and my router along with my key in is perfectly fine...I think. The error message reads; Unable to connect with printer/computer...and tells me to check my ports, wires, and firewall. Check, check and check! I really wish I was more savvy when it comes to these sorts of things. I would truly appreciate any help I can get. I am trying to print my resume for 3 upcoming interviews.

A:Lexmark 2600 series will not print; any relation to my LAN being unplugged?

hmm; story goes like this;
If the printer is directly attached to another system, then Print/File Sharing will control access to the printer.

If the printer is directly attached to the router, then the device is a 'network device' and it is an issue with networking.
Your WiFi connectin to that router SHOULD be sufficient for access to all network devices (assuming all systems have the same subnet) and any Print/File Shares(assuming all systems are on the same WorkGroup Name...).

Just curious if anyone has tried mixing the FireMV series with the consumer-side 4000 series, or any modern consumer series from the 3000's to 6000's.

A:Cooling solutions for a MicroATX slim case - Gateway E Series

No, 60C at idle isn't normal. You were on the right track with changing the case. Most of my CPUs run in the neighborhood of 35 to 40C at idle. (The exception is my Prescott P-4 in an Emachines T-5026, which ATM, is 53C under light load). I haven't seen 60c since the last 100 degree day in my non air conditioned house

I'm curious about the CPU, you've included everything except the actual part number.

You should also investigate to verify that your motherboard is an actual mATX form factor, so that it would mount correctly in a standard case.

One quick question, were the temps that high before you remounted the HSF?

For a while now, I've been curious to know what the differences are in the Western Digital Caviar Series.
So far as I know, Black is high performance, Green is eco-friendly and slow, but I'm not sure what the Blue series has to offer, other than a lower price tag.
Can anyone clearify what the techinical differences are between Black and Blue? For high performace reasons, I bought the Black series for my tower, but what would I have been missing out on had I gone for the Blue series?

Thanks in advance.

A:Western Digital hard drives: The differences between Black and Blue Series

In theory, the Black is supposed to be the faster drive. In actuality, there isn't much between them. Speed rather depends on platter size and cache - The Black drives are either 32 or 64Mb cache, while the Blue drives top out at 32Mb.
Black drives carry a five year warranty, while Blue drives are three years which is probably of more significance.

I've been looking into purchasing a new Nvidia GPU that supports DX11.

I have an EVGA motherboard, however, the GPU does not have to be from that subsidiary company. I was looking between the 460 and the 470, and couldnt decide whether or not the extra hundred bucks for the 470 would be worth it or not. I will not be using 3D vision, so count that out.

I didn't want to get the 480 since thats around 500 bucks.

What are your opinions? I will be playing games such as Crysis 2 when that comes out, Battlefield BC2, Medal of Honor, Dirt 2, Metro 2033, Mafia II, etc.

My system specs are as follows:
EVGA P55V 120-LF-E651-TR Intel chipset motherboard
Intel i7-860 Quad CPU @ 2.8ghz
OCZ Gold 4GB 240-Pin DDR3 1333mz PC3 10666 (OCZ3G1333LV4G63581470)

After that I had no sound. I tired a system restore, nothing, and I've been on the acer website and downloaded the audio driver, still nothing.
I'm running XP, as I tried vista and my laptop didn't take to kindly to this upgrade.

3 GB of installed DDR3 RAM (1066 MHz; expandable to 8 GB)

**I don't know my computer specs and obviously can't get it from my computer but if you tell me where to find it on the chips, I can try to do that.**

My computer isn't very old, no more than a year, it's been working fine. No new software or hardware. I haven't moved it. This morning it wouldn't boot up properly. After clicking the button, it gave 1 long beep and 2 short ones. No signal to monitor. I didn't check keyboard or mouse. All fans appear to be working.
I replugged everything to make sure nothing was loose, and turned it back on. No more beeps, still no signal to monitor. Keyboard and mouse aren't lighting up.
I tried unplugging the power cord and pressing the button to clear the power. Still no beeps, no signal. All fans are still working.

Any suggestions please?

A:Dell D505 beeps twice and writes "Strike the F1 key to continue, F2 to run setup..."

Some component of the hardware is bad... could be anything... and the beep codes help tell what it is. There is a list of beep codes posted by tipstir, I believe, elsewhere on this TechSpot site.

Have you tried booting to SAFE MODE by repeately depressing the <F8> key as soon as you depress the power button? If it boots to SAFE MODE you know it is repairable.

Otherwise, trouble shoot for power supply failure, hard drive failure, cpu fan failing, modem or ethernet socket, video graphics card... ore even sound card... any defective component can cause an alert.
Or it could be overheating due to lint, dirt, dust in the fan or cooling channels.
When you try booting without the HDD, at least put a bootable CD into the optical drive.
Good luck. Let us know your diagnosis.

Hi I don t really know in which category this belongs so I ve put it in General What is the problem My friend has a problem with his computer Everytime he tries to boot his PC the screen remains black and his computer beeps long short beeps after that it keeps repeating a short beep We searched on the internet for this beep code and found that it could be a RAM or EGA problem However it gives the same beep code without a videocard and we thought that it should just boot with the onboard chipset We also tried removing the RAM sticks by both or switching them without any luck When did it happen We were at a Lanparty with people at the time we were with and the th had yet to arrive When he did he plugged his laptop in and my friend s computer just died but all other PC s stayed on A thing to mention is that we were all plugged into the same socket And that socket was short 1 long 3 boot, to beeps and Failed not grounded His Hardware Videocard Ati Radeon HD MB Motherboard Asus P QL SE RAM x GB DDR Mhz unknown We would appreciate any help Marty nbsp

A:Failed to boot, 1 long and 3 short beeps

If you can, I'd suggest getting some more RAM and testing it.. If it's still giving you the 1 long and 2/3 short beeps then it could have blown your motherboard..

http://www.bioscentral.com/beepcodes/awardbeep.htm < Asus Award Beep Codes

Lists the 1 long 2 short as a video issue, and a continueing beep as a RAM issue, so if your getting both then I'd say either the boards gone and it can't read anything, or it just blew out both... I'd say it's best to get it tested at a shop where they have parts they can test on it.. Best of luck to you.

I purchased what was described as a 'Dell 3588D Motherboard Slot 1 Dimension
XPS-B' motherboard from eBay. It uses Rambus memory sticks, but has 3
memory slots to fill, while every motherboard of that type I have researched only
has 2 memory slots. In addition, most of the Series B desktops I looked into
seem to be limited to 512MB of memory.
Because my motherboard has 3 memory slots, would I be allowed to insert three 256MB memory sticks, giving me a total memory of 768MB? I'm told that you should
not exceed the required limit of memory. Would someone care to comment on my
predicament?

Hi,

Just building a new system today, its running a i7 930, anyway if I have the processor plugged in all the fans start and lights come on, but the fan are not at full speed and then I get continuous short beeps. If I unplug the processor all the fans run at full speed and I get no beep. I have already swapped out the PSU with a known working PSU and still got the same result. Any suggestions?

A:Computer Beeps continuously unless CPU is unplugged

I believe that, in order for anyone to be able to help, they need to know a few more things.
At the very least , which Motherboard or which BIOS does your MOBO have?
To quote from the website pcapprentice,"Computer beep codes run in a sequence and need to be identified as such. Whether they
are long or short beeps you have to determine where the sequence ends and the next begins. While the
sequence is continuous there is a slight pause between the series of computer beep codes"
You can buy a POST Diagnostics Card to get a readout, if you can't determine the number of beeps.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815158065&Tpk=bios post card
It might also be helpful to know what else is connected to the MOBO--graphics card, RAM, etc.?
With luck, it could be something really simple, like you don't have a GPU plugged in.

Sell the ssd on ebay for the price you paid and buy the correct format of ssd you need. If you plan on getting a desktop soon I'd consider keeping it, but I wouldnt get the desktop just because you have the ssd.

Hi Ronnie,
The Gateway motherboard will beep if no memory is installed at all. If you hear no beeps, the motherboard may be toast. Motherboards sometime fail for little or no reason. Did you reinstall the CPU properly? Too much thermal compound will act as an insulator and not as a heat conductor

A:OCZ 600W ModXStream Pro Power Supply V.S. Corsair Professional Series HX650W

Corsair is generally considered to be a slightly more reliable brand. I personally would suggest a single 12V rail with high amperage. Do you require a modular PSU? If not, then the Corsair 650TX is cheaper than it's modular counterpart, the 650HX.

I think that for a single PowerColor HD 4850 the Corsair 550VX will be more than sufficient. However, if you're looking to keep the system more "forward compatible" (not future proof because nothing is), the Corsair 650TX should do great. I would think that the 650TX would be the best choice for CrossFire with 2 HD 4850s.

Desktop Model: Acer Aspire M5100-E5305A
Operating system: Vista 64-bit
LCD screen: DELL

Computer has two hard disks, each 500 GB. First one with two partitions is running the operating system, second one just for data.

Replaced the second 0.5 TB hard drive with a 1.5 TB disk.
Tried to start the computer, no boot beeps, and a black screen.
Both fans are running, the one from the source and the one on top the CPU, but otherwise the computer is dead.

Put back the old second hard drive, re-started, computer is still dead, no boot beeps, no video output. Keyboard and mouse are dead too.

Took out the power and held down the power button for 60 seconds, re-started, did not do any good, computer is still dead.

Any ideas what I can do? Computer is back to its original hardware configuration, but it would not run, not even a bloody beep!

Thank you,
Colin.

I have the above PC and was hoping to increase the Ram size from 2gig to 4 gig.
I had a fruitless chat with Sony tech support (as usual) and they inform me that 2gig is the max for my machine.
The mobo has 4 ram slots 184pin config and at the moment is carrying 4 x 512m memory sticks type PC3200U and was hoping to fit 4x 1gig type PC3200U sticks. Unfortuately the PC takes for ever to boot with 4 x 1gig sticks in.
Can anyone advise if this machine is at its max of 2gig or can the BIOS be pursuaded to see 4gig?

Hopefully I can workout the new 4 x 1gig sticks config, if not I will have to return them to the supplier. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've had my computer for about four years. It worked as intended until early today, when I tried to turn it on and I noticed that the mobo beeped unusually and I'd get no signal on my monitor. Everything else powers up, fans, cd drives and I can also hear the hard drives. The computer sounds as if it boots correctly, but I get no monitor signal.

I tried looking through Intel's documentation for my mobo but I just couldn't find a beep or POST table.

I get a long beep (3 seconds) plus two short beeps that last about half a second each. I usually get a single one second beep.

Help appreciated.

First off, the motherboard is a Tyan Thunder K7 S2462. Everytime I turn it on, POST beeps 4 short beeps. From what I know, it's a system timer failure, but then again it could be something else.

I just recently bought new RAM to try and resolve the problem, but it still gives me the same error. Could my mobo be dead?! Also, I bought a new CMOS battery and replaced the old one. My HDD and Optical drivers are fine.

At one time I had it working, and I reinstalled my OS and thought everything was OK. Later that day, I turn it on and again the four POST beeps.

Okay, so my sister's Sony Vaio VGN-NR120E has a damaged keyboard.
I found a place to buy the part (ebay, various other sites, etc. all sell them...) but for the life of me, I cannot figure out how the heck to get the keyboard off of the thing to replace it.

Has anyone replaced a keyboard on a Sony Vaio VGN-NR series before or knows how to do it? I'm fairly confident in my abilities but I want to avoid dismantling parts of the computer I don't need to, so any insight on how it's fastened on there would help.

A:Sony Vaio VGN-NR series keyboard replacement

Hi

sony laptops use (like most do) very small clips at the top of the keyboard, usually 3 or 4 of them along with screws from the bottom,, finding which screws is a trial, unlike Dell who mark the screws (k) for keyboard, (p) for palmrest etc etc.

Once you find out which screws they are get a credit card or similar and slide it across the top of the keyboard between the top and the case, you will feel the clips, use another card to gently lift the keyboard at the same time, be careful once done as their is a ribbon cable on a plug that connects to the motherboard, a gentle pull should pull it out if its a molex type, or else it may be a lift up the black bar type and slide the cable out, or slide a little lug on either side up (to the side etc) to remove the cable.

Hi all, I have a thinkpad 1411 i series from 1998. A workhorse. I always use the machine plugged in. Original battery.

Was getting a battery bad/drive OK message, then I would hit enter and it would boot up.

Now will not boot at all.

Can't it work with just the plug or do I have to buy another battery?

I just use it for a word processor and family photos now. but I like it for that. I have a dell dual core /quad for the web.

Shouldn't it work with just the plug, I don't get it?

Thanks for advice

A:IBM Thinkpad 1411 i series battery bad message won't boot

Not all notebooks will work without a battery. I have a Toshiba A70, and had issues a while back which I thought was the battery, so I tried running without it. Try taking the battery out and see if it starts. Keep in mind that it's a good idea to cycle batteries in notebooks even if they are always plugged in, they should be discharged maybe once a month or so.
Your particular error seems to be coming from the CMOS, maybe you can look at that, considering its been 11 years, maybe its due for a change.

Ok, this is my first post here, just made an account to post this.

I want to be able to play Second Life and I need a better graphics card. Here is the system requirements:
secondlife.com/support/sysreqs.php
(would have the link, but its my first post)

I am on an XP, and I would like to get a compatible card from the recommended list.

I have looked at some other posts, and I am really confused. I understand the basics of computers, but I have no idea about this. I think I may need to upgrade my power supply? I have no idea what to post here, but I will try.
Here is what I have:
Intel
Pentium 4 CPU 2.80 GHz
2.79 GHz, 1.99 GB of RAM
Physical Address Extension

This is from dxdiag:
Intel 82519G/GV/910GL Express Chipset Family

My driver is already updated, and it still doesn't work.

A:Dell Dimension E310 Series Video Card Upgrade

Ok you said upgrade your video card?......so what video card do you have in there now?
Also you will have to either take the panel off your computer and get the brand and watts of your PSU (power supply) or look it up. So far your CPU and RAM look good.
Just get the other info and i will be able to help further

hi guys
today i have heard that the nvidia gtx and 9 series have a cooling and temp's problem and he(the seller) told me that these cards performance are great but they have a temp problem, and the reviews or nvidia wont write this problem, and that nvidia produced this card before it's time because ati has produced the hd 4890 with it's great performance ,he told me to ask the users of these cards, and i want to buy a new gtx 295 graphic card
so guys who use nvidia gtx or 9 series,is that right?
please post your comments and thoughts about these products
and thank you

A:Nvidia gtx and 9 series problem

lol, I own one, no temp issues, it operates at about 55-65C with the stock cooler, make sure you download something like evga precision and you can control the fan speed yourself. I'm currently using a dangerden water block for it to keep temps down for my over clocks.

When I boot up my PC there is no signal to the monitor and I do not hear any POST beeps If I wait a while it varies a lot sec to mins no monitor & No beeps. post signal to it eventually starts up and works fine - never crashed This is a new PC and the prob started to happen week after I purchased it It is getting worse and worse I will take it back if I can t get the prob fixed myself I checked that all cables are seated properly and heat does not seem to be a problem according to the BIOS reading and ASUS PC Probe The specs are Intel Pentium C GHz MHz FSB KB Cache Hyper-Threading ASUS P C Deluxe Intel P Chipset Antec Performance Plus AMG with Windowed Slide Panel Antec TruePower Watt No signal to monitor & no post beeps. A:No signal to monitor & no post beeps.

Sounds like it might be heat related within the monitor itself. If it is possible for you to connect another monitor it would easily rule this out. does this happen when the system is hot and first started, like running it a while, then shut down, and start it back up? If not, I'd still say it is heat related. Thermal problems are not always related to things getting too hot, sometimes a faulty component will work fine after it gets hot, and only show problems when it is cold, and vice versa.

I would like to upgrade the CPU on an older model Compaq Presario 5000/K series desktop. Currently installed is a 900Mhz Duron. I'm not sure what the model MB is, but presume it to be a micro ATX of some description. Would it be possible to "pop" in an Athlon XP 2.0 and if that is possible would the BIOS need upgrading as well?
Cheers.

A:Compaq 5000 series CPU compatability

Can you be a little more specific on the Compaq part number or provide a number like 5002US? A 900MHz Duron, but what about the motherboard bus speed? I saw a listing for the 5002US model with only a 200MHz bus speed... This could be your limiting factor in deciding what CPU would work for you

A:My Computer Does Not Turn on, Just Beeps continuously

Nearly every motherboard has beep codes that tell you what is wrong. Look for a very good recent list by Tedster, which will tell you what is wrong with the computer or motherboard, based on the beep codes or beep pattern.
Often the continuous beep shows an failure of the CPU, or the CPU socket. Are you certain all pins are in, and none are bent?
EMachines W3118 sold at Wal-Mart is one of the 14 models with a very high motherboard failure rate. This could mean your motherboard is dead. It is $177.50, plus shipping, to replace it.
Look at Tedsters list for beep codes related to that board. I cannot remember if he included eMachines codes.

Hey guys as the title states I am having constant problems with my graphics driver crashing with the following message quot your graphics driver has stopped responding to commands quot something along ATI Radeon 9550/X1050 problems series constant those lines anyway lol I am using an AMD Athlon processor With the ATI Radeon X series MB VGA graphics card MB DDR RAM I recently tried updating to the latest drivers from ATI but had severe installation problems and ended up having to do a system restore So i am using the standard driver I can play counter-strike and battlefield reasonable consistantly Wont crash out for a few hours or ATI Radeon 9550/X1050 series constant problems so Which points out this cant be an overheating problem But when i try to play WoW i get about - minutes game time before it stops responding If anyone has any knowledge about how to fix this it would be great Edit Since doing the system restore my CPU speed has gone from ghz to mhz wtf is up with that nbsp

A:ATI Radeon 9550/X1050 series constant problems

Try "undoing" system restore. You should get get back your 2.4ghz processor speed. Since you are running only 512 mbs of ddr ram, you are operating with minimum ram. Try doubling that, it will help and might stop the crashes. Does your "paging file" (virtual memory) have at least 1 or 1.5 gigs? You have to have that. Good Luck.

Hi, I have recently built my own PC but for some reason I keep getting 1 long beep followed by 3 short beeps, but it doesnt happen all the time, sometimes it will turn on fine and other times I get the beeps, it is really annoying me because I cant find any problems, I have read that these beeps can be the Graphics card or the RAM but I find it strange that it does it sometimes and not all the time, can anyone please help with this problem, Thanks.

My system specs are as followed:
Asus P5K Premium Motherboard
Intel Quad Core Q6600 CPU
8GB Reaper RAM
BFG NVIDIA GTX280 OC Graphics Card
CoolerMaster 1000W PSU

A:1 Long Beeps, Followed by 3 Short Beeps (sometimes)

hi 1bellb

make sure that all of your RAM chips are firmly placed into their slots and that they aren't susceptible to movement in and out of the slots. You could also run Memtest on your chips from here - www.memtest.org. You've heard right about the beeping sounds probably being caused by RAM issues. Good luck

update.

Used multimeter on 4 pin molex connector, and 5v and 12v rails are fine.
Tested Aux connector and 3.3v, 5v, and 12v connectors are also fine.

Is there any way to test the voltage running to my Ram slots?
