I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

It sounds like you are using a laptop (always best to explain the computer type, it makes help easier)

The problems you describe simply indicate that "Numlock" is acive for the keyboard, where those keys are dula use as a number pad.

Without knowing the hardware the best I can suggest it that you use the Fn key plus F5 or whatever the assigned key is to toggle the Numlock function.

I'm newbie in Script. I want some script that will change my system regional setting & language setting..
Is it possible to write any script that will change the same. If yes please help...

When I added Japanese support to my machine (I'm a anime fan), it presented me with a handy little task icon to swap back and forth between it and my normal English. Such a script honestly never occurred to me. Even if you wrote it, I'm pretty sure you'd have to disable uac for it to function.

Ok I have two problems here which I think are unrelated but you could help me with either or even both I would be very happy My keyboard is set to the US setting and I am from the UK so I want to change this but when I go into the control panel and double click on the regional and language options the sand timer comes up for around two seconds then it turns back to the normal pointer and nothing else happens and the window has not opened Although this may not seem a big problem it is extremely annoying to have to use a US keyboard setting with a UK keyboard My other problem is that when I try to install the Security Update for Microsoft NET Framework Version KB the update process runs for a while and it eventually says that the installation has failed All other updates are being installed successfully but this one continues to fail no matter how many times I try to install it and restart the computer etc If anyone can help me with either of these problems I would be very happy Thankyou nbsp

When I opened up my Youtube download app the wording in the Search box was in Greek I haven't used the app Store using Greek started app language for some time but Store app started using Greek language it has never had any Greek words in it before Not so odd as it might seem since I am actually in Greece but I have always had my location and language set Store app started using Greek language to UK as I'm English and my Greek isn't too good Also the Store app started using Greek language app wouldn't load and minimised to the taskbar I tried to load it a couple of times with no success I thought the best option would be to uninstall and reinstall the app so I right clicked on the tile and chose to uninstall I then opened the Store and found that some of the wording here was in Greek see attachment below As you can see the menu bar is in Greek and on the Store home page most menu items are in Greek But curiously the login screen is not I went into Location in the Control Panel and found this was set to Greece I have no idea when this changed or why but I'm sure it was UK before So I reset it to UK and restarted the laptop as applying this change didn't affect the Store Neither did the restart and I still have Greek menus in the Store I know this wasn't the case a few days ago as I had to reinstall all my apps after a refresh and everything was in English then There has always been a little Greek in the Store app ratings were in Greek for example but the menus and other instructions have always been in English Can anyone suggest how I can get things changed back to English I don't use many Store apps but decided to open a new one to see if this also had Greek see attachment below Don't know if this can help someone to work out what the problem might be

I am stuck in South Korea for the time being and though I would love to reinstall this XP machine with Ubuntu, for now I am stuck with XP.

As such, I have a bamboo tablet. Great fun.

Issue:: I would love for the bamboo settings to be in English. Tech support claims I just have to change the regional settings in XP and it will automatically detect the settings upon reinstall and it will be in English. SO far, I am not getting this to work. Doesn't help that I can't read the menus. I know Computers pretty well, but with this KOREAN XP I have to guess what button to press.

Could someone create a "tips and tricks" post dealing with this issue?

I am fully aware of how to go about installing the East Asian language pack, but for some reason, my Control Panel doesn't have the "Regional and Language Settings." I'm using Win XP, Professional Edition, SP2.

My father uses the exact same XP version/SP as me and it shows up perfectly fine on his computer. I'll attach a screenshot of what my control panel looks like for good measure.

Anyone have any idea why this isn't showing up, or even better, how I can get it to appear? Thanks.

When I click on [DETAILS] button I get the following message ...'Incompatible Keyboard Driver Detected . This dialog has been disabled' so I cannot perform an ADD. What's also interesting is that I have no 'language bar' either.

If I want to get back the 'language bar' as well as set up my keyboard as UK and not US eg , [shift +3] reads '#' and not '' then I need to get past this problem.

Hi there.

I plan to take a Japanese class in the fall, and I'm trying to install the East Asian Language files in Windows XP.

I know exactly where to find it and the steps I follow once I get there. My problem is, the option won't open.

I go to Control Panel, I double click Regional and Language Options. Nothing happens. I click it once, and use the right mouse button menu to select open. Nothing. I make a shortcut to it on my desktop and try that. Nothing. I restart and try again. Nothing. I googled everything I can think of, and I'm not finding anyone else with this problem.

It's like the menu doesn't exist, and only the icon remains. I really don't want to have to reinstall Windows. Anyone know what I can do?

A:Opening Regional and Language Options

Are you logged on as the Administrator of this machine?
You have to be.

Are you in a Domain?
There might be Group Policies in effect to keep you from making any changes in these options. Discuss with the Network Administrator.

If you are the Administrator on a stand-alone workstation, or in a Workgroup (not Domain) setting, your issue is discussed in this MS KB article: http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;309433

To fix:

Highlight the following line and hit Ctrl+c (a Copy text command)

reg delete "hku\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop\MUILanguagePending" /v

Next: click Start button, Run, and type: cmd

Ctrl+ v (a Paste command)

Hit the enter key. Approve the deletion if asked.

exit

Reboot and test.

however this also says;

You choose to apply settings to the default user profile.

These changes will affect the logon screen and all user accounts.
Some system services may require you to restart your computer

Please tell me what effects will occur, . . I think I need to do this because on certain occasions I am inadvertently activating something that causes some language abnormalities to occur, when typing English, etc.

Hi!

I have some issues with the encoding of Hebrew subtitles in most software.

Meanwhile i got an alternative: In VLC, i picked MacHebrew, and it worked. but not all software allows you to pick the encoding script.

I've also got all hebrew scripts checked:

28598 (ISO 8859-8 Hebrew: Visual Ordering)

Is there any way to restore original language encoding scripts?

Hello.

Not too long ago, I re-installed my ethernet driver, due to it constantly disconnecting me from my network. The installer for the driver used the InstallShield installer, and the program's language was German. Subsequently, after using this installer, every other InstallShield installer is in German, and sometimes, the programs that they install are too.

My default OS language is English [UK], and the system locale for non-Unicode programs is also English [UK].

Is there solution that I can apply to ensure that every program I install in the future is in English? As, the only solution I have found so far, is to edit the parameters for each installer, in order to force it to install in English.

Thank you for your help.

A:[x64 Professional] InstallShield language is in German

For some reason, and I've absolutely no idea why, but I just launched an InstallShield Wizard for the 'Nexus Mod Manager', and now it gives me the option to edit the language and set it to English, which has also allowed for my previously German InstallShield Wizard, to display in English.

Only thing I see is DATE/TIME no regional settings.

HI everybody

Please help me - I'm trying to find out how to change the whole of my windows XP OS from English to German language (this includes all menus etc).

I was told by somebody that is apparently easy to do if you go though control panel - I would have thought some sort of German Media kit would be needed and some form of Upgrade licensing for German XP????

I am confused and I really have to resolve this issue ASAP.

This info may also be helpful:
The laptop is a corporate HP laptop which has been licensed under the Select A agreement with Microsoft.

What do I have to do? Is it really simple or am I over-complicating things?

Thanks in advance for all your help.

Best regards

Heya Guys

How are you doing? We are setting up a Vista Business Client for our Company. It is a test-station. We bought (deliberately) the operating system in english. Now my question:

I can't find files or patches to change the language in the Internet Explorer 7 from english to german... is ist possible to change the language at all?

Thanks for your help!

A:Change Language form english to german

If IE7 is like IE6, the answer is you cannot, just for this one application.

The only language related options is via:

Control Panel, Regional and Language Options icon

And you have to download the optional languages you want supported.

Hi
I bought the german version of the Libretto w100 (10D) to get a 3G-sim slot. Despite what the seller told me, it is not possible to switch from german to english interface. I have since bought an upgrade (Windows Anytime) from Win7 Home to Win 7 Ultimate, to get additional language support. I now got english in (most) system menues, but the Toshiba specific applications still use german, even though I have removed/reinstalled and choosen english language during the installation process. Any suggestions on how to solve this?

And no, I don't understand german language...

This being the european forum, I doubt you will find the answer here. Any drivers you download from here will probably be in german, since it automatically recognizes that you are in Germany.

Go to the american support forum:
http://forums.toshiba.com/t5/Laptops/ct-p/c_laptops

Libretto is at the bottom of the page, ask if someone can download the english drivers and share them over megaupload or something.

Hope this helps.

Hi All

I would like to set my computer up to have two word processors in English and German with two keyboards one in English and one in German with the extra letters for German. I bought a German keyboard with the different layout. Then got Open Office office for free in German.

Struck a hitch when I found that new keyboard doesn't just plug in and work but found this good looking software will allow this to work;

Using multiple keyboards with different layouts on the same machine - CodeProject

However I still need a German language pack for Windows 7; everything points to anytime upgrade but this isn't available anymore?

Could buy window 8.1 for lots of money and might not run that well on my old 32 bit 3.5gb 2.0mhz laptop which isn't that fast anyway.

Any ideas please? Happy to pay for upgrades but don't need a whole new version of windows

Hi KiwiinSwiss, welcome to the Seven Forums.

A bit long rant but I am not able to put this short so here we go. First the rant, thereafter my suggestions .

I am a multilingual Windows user, typing (and needing respective input language) in my two mother tongues Finnish and Swedish, the language of my country of residence Germany, English and occasional French. That being said I really do not understand the need for two physical keyboards on one computer.

It does not take long practice to learn that although the physical keyboard layout I have is German (QWERTZ instead of QWERTY), when I have switched to Finnish or Swedish input language (identical keyboard layouts) the physical key ?? gives me ?? and the key ? gives me +, or that although the keyboard shows that @ is typed with AltGR + Q I in fact need to press AltGR + 2. Also the time and effort needed to change the input language is nothing compared to time and effort needed to put one keyboard aside to make room for another keyboard; I need two mouse clicks for that, first to open language menu (icon in notification area) and second to select the input language needed.

Screenshot of my language menu. Screenshot is from Windows 8.1, I have taskbar vertical at left so it might look a bit odd:
I understand from your post and a bit suggestive username you have selected that your mother tongue is English and that your second language is German, one of the four official languages of Switzerland, the country where you currently reside. The part I did not completely understand is why you had to get OpenOffice in German? Using again myself as an example, my Windows and all software including Microsoft Office are in English but I can still type letters in Word using German or Swedish or compose emails in Finnish in Outlook. I have of course separate user accounts in English, Finnish, German and Swedish because I had a work where it was essential that I could either make screenshots showing Windows controls and dialogs in respective language or demonstrate them in big screen, but as I do not work anymore I have noticed it can take weeks for me not to log in to other user accounts than the main English one. What I am saying is that you don't need a German word processor or German keyboard to type in German.

The above does not mean that I am happy about how Microsoft and other software makers and online services treat us ex-pats, users who use Windows, other software and online services with a language other than the language(s) of their country of residence. Read about my thoughts at our sister forums: Microsoft Windows 9 Team: Please understand some of us live abroad!.

Conclusion:

If your goal is to be able to type using several input languages, you do not need to change anything, nor do you need two keyboards. Install and enable all input languages you need to, then swap between them with two fast mouse clicks in under a second. Tutorials:Keyboard Input Language - Add or Remove
Keyboard Layout - Change
Language Bar - Hide or Show

Suggestions:

Step 1 in this tutorial shows you how to get original Windows 7 Ultimate ISO install file. If you continue using Windows 7 and want to get multiple display languages, you need to get the Ultimate edition. Search Amazon and eBay for a 7 Ultimate product key but be careful, there are a lot of "if it sounds too good to be true it's probably not" offers out there.

When you have the Windows 7 Ultimate product key, you should be able to do an Anytime Upgrade with it. If not, you can use the Windows 7 Ultimate ISO to create an install media and do a clean install.

Hi all,

Can anyone tell me if the German editions of Smart Security, NOD32 and Multi-Device Security include English language options? or if the licence keys will activate installations (within the EU) using an English language installer?

Thanks

A:ESET 2015 German editions English language option?

I've tried on my VM to install one of the offline installer of ESET on other languages.

So specifically you need to choose an appropriate language before you install cause there's no already an option to change unless use Live Installer.

http://kb.eset.com/esetkb/index?page=content&id=SOLN3552

License key will work at any multi language part of ESET, so if you purchase it on EU then it should be valid since its a language you are choosing though,

Hello Everyone,
As I travel to the north on regular occasions, I bought a Lenovo G585 laptop in Spain, where I live. It had W.7.Home Premium installed in Spanish.
I have now upgraded it with the free installation of W.10.
As with all things downloaded in Spain, there is rarely a choice to obtain the download in English.
After the download I found a way to change the language into English.
That done, the keyboard no longer responded correctly!
I am also not able to use the search facility Cortana as it is unavailable in Spain.
Is there any way that I can have the W10 OS language in English AND make the keyboard respond to its designed (Spanish) keys?

(I am writing this on my desktop which has W7 Ultimate in English installed!)

Thanks in advance for any advice,

Regards,

Colinito.

A:Problem with setting English language

Yes you can and it is the same as in 7 if I remember correctly.

Search for Language in Control Panel. Click on Options in the English Language.

On Input Method click on Add Input Method and scroll down the list until you find Spanish. Then remove English.

This only affects your keyboard - no other regional or language settings are affected.

For Cortana to work you need your language, region and speech have to be the same - it doesn't care about the keyboard. If your language is US English you'll need to make sure you set your region to US as well. As region affects things like search results and news I leave mine where I am and don't use Cortana but it is up to you - I've just not found a use for it yet.

Hello I'm in Korea and have been using both Korean and English on my laptop Last night my keyboard suddenly became unable to switch to Korean to type or more specifically would 'switch' to Korean but still use English letters when I typed I've searched everywhere and tried everything I can to fix it but nothing is working From what I can gather the Korean keyboard layout has somehow switched to English letters instead of Korean when I go to languages keyboards - gt Change Keyboards - gt select the Korean keyboard and click properties it brings up the Language Language Bar/Display problem keyboard layout and it's all English letters I assumed the best thing to do would be to just re-install the language but I can't figure out how to do that I don't have the option from the previously mentioned keyboard languages location and the best answer I could find online had something to do with Windows updates but that didn't work for me either What am I doing wrong

A:Language Bar/Display Language problem

Hi atwoodruff, welcome to Windows 7 Forums.

You could try a System Recovery. Open Control Panel & select Recovery & see if there is a Recovery Point that you can use, that precedes your current problem.
If that works then just install the updates that will probably show up as being needed, one at a time. Restart your computer after each one & if you find one that causes this problem, uninstall it & then hide it so it does not show up again.

I installed Windows 8 Pro and installed an additional language(let's say it's B) pack, changed system display language to B, and system locale to B.

And I got infinite BSOD after installing some drivers(not related to language pack, just I made mistake installing old programs), so I 'refresh'ed the system.

Guess what, after the refresh, system display was set to English(united kingdom, which is default), AND system locale remained as language B.

This is the problematic part;
1.I CANNOT change system display language to B, it says it's unavailable.
2.The system regards the language pack is already installed because I can still use B as system locale.
3.I cannot reinstall or remove the language pack. LPKSETUP doesn't detect B.

SO i'm pretty much stuck, and I don't want to reinstall just to change the system display language.

Is there any solution to this(removing/reinstalling language pack)?

A:Program files folder is in different language than display language

It seems to me that it would have to stay English (or the language the coders named it) as the programs look to those folders and their exact names/wording for files to use. If someone made for example call of duty then translated duty to Greek and the code looked for duty, it would only find the translation and it would fail to find the thing its looking for.

I have no info to back this up but its my theory as why things like documents can change but not program files folder names.

OHello,
I have Windows Vista Home SP2,
I need to change PC language from Norvegian to English,

Thank you.

A:My Windows Vista is Norvegian language, I need English language.

If you have the multi language installation disc, you can change the language during a reinstallation. If it is a Norwegian only, then you are stuck unless you can borrow an English installation disc and activeat with the key that is on the COA sticker (on the bottom of the laptop).

I downloaded the Win10 Home single language ISO for a clean install on a new build PC and skipped the activation step during install. Now I need to activate. If I purchase a copy of Windows 10 Home in store or digitally, will I be able to use the product key in my current install without need to re-install?

I tried to phone MS support about this and they were utterly useless!

Thanks!

As long as you buy the version you installed they you should be fine.

I used to be able to type Japanese in emails and Word documents, suing IME pad. I set the language settings in Control Panel -> Regional and Language Settings, and follow the instructions available on Microsoft.com

However, I had the hard drive crash about a year ago and had it replaced by a local PC repair store. Ever since, I can get the language bar to come up (and everything looks fine), but nothing appears when I actually type.

Can you help?

Thanks a lot.

Hey guys I remember removing other language settings from my laptop but for some reason CH Taiwan still remains How do I remove it There is no quot language pack quot to uninstall I cannot quot change display language quot because that section is not even there As Hidden language setting you can see from the screenshot even the keyboard only retains Hidden language setting the default English US No apparent related Hidden language setting search results from google Found something in the registry although I have no idea how it is related There is a key named HKCU Software Microsoft Windows NT CurrentVersion Font Management Auto Activation Languages which shows what appears to be the two languages available EN US and CH TW Searching for Auto Activation Languages has been similarly futile Anyone know how to remove the second one Hidden language setting and leave only the default English US For what it's worth this laptop was apparently manufactured in China so it's possibly some preinstalled language thing However nothing shows up in Control Panel programs to be uninstalled I can only see the option in the language bar as well as in the topleft corner of the login screen it's a button labelled quot EN quot so I suspect it's just the language bar again Any ideas Thanks

This question is driving me mad ... please help me with simple answers

A:what is the difference between scripting language and interpreted language ???

it has been answered in your topic here
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2073273

One slight addition I would add to that answer is that it isn't a correct question in first place as script language can & does often include interpreted language

Interpreted languages need a compiler to run
Many script languages have a native compiler inbuilt into windows & other OS to enable them to run

It seems to me that the default language input method changes with apps being loaded, supposed I set my default input language to PT and then use MS Word in Chinese, when I close my Win 8.1, the next time I turn on my computer, the default will change to CN instead of PT. Anyone knows how to make Win 8.1 stays with the default input method and not the last apps used? I went to Control Panel/Language and did not find any settings there beside the one that I already did, which was my default input method set to PT.

Thanks for your comment/suggestion

Does anyone know how to select the correct language. I considered restoring the computer to its original settings but the user guide says "if your system is the multilingual version, the operating system and language you choose when you first turn on the system will be the only option for future recovery operations." Hi All,

I was given a laptop to clean up by someone at work and whilst typing some text I found that the keyboard was set to English (US). I went into the Regional Language Options in CP and changed the Regional Settings and Location to UK under the Languages -> Details menu I added UK English as default and removed the US option.

The problem is, everytime I close down the window, it resets back to US English! I go back into the setting and US English is displayed in the Languages->Details menu and UK has been removed!

Why could this be?

I have removed any viruses and threats, but still no luck.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Hi

A few days ago, my dad had actually tried (accidentally) to change the language to Hungarian and the Keyboard setting for it which means that the keys in my US keyboard won't be correct. The thing is, I've changed every setting back to US English, but the Hungarian one keeps going back (only the keyboard setting). So I have to go to that other administrator user to change it to US for me to type my password for the main user correctly. To be specific about the setting, it's in:
Control Panel -> Date, Time, Language and Regional Options -> Regional and Language Options -> Languages Tab -> Details... -> Settings Tab -> Installed services box ---- There, the Hungarian keyboard setting appears again when I reboot my computer.

Thanks,

In this tutorial How to Turn the Desktop Language Bar On or Off in Windows 8 and 8.1 Shawn Brink explains how to turn on/off the language bar in Windows 8.1. Step 8 of the tutorial shows us how to set Windows to use the classic Desktop Language Bar instead of the Metro version of the Language Bar.

I was wondering if there is a way to toggle this setting for all users on the computer using the registry or Group Policy. I work for a school, and our Language Lab needs to use the Desktop version of the Language Bar because the Metro version does not have any of the advanced options of the Chinese Simplified Pin-Yin IME. That or I need a way to turn off the Auto Adjust setting of the Chinese Simplified Pin-Yin IME.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Scott

A:Sysprep with Unattend.xml, not setting correct language

I think my problem is solved!

It seems that it is only when I login with the local user account that I used to setup the image (the one that gets copied to default user) that has the incorrect language settings. If I login with a new user account it has the correct settings.

I'm wondering if this has something to do with running 'Sysprep.exe' using that user account and whether that changes the language settings for that account? If anyone could explain why this might be I would be very interested!

Hi,

I've have been playing the game Icewind Dale II for the past few years on my laptop (windows XP). It's the japanese version and in order to play it, I had to go into the regional settings and change the default language to Japanese and it displayed the Japanese font correctly.

I haven't played it in a few months and decided to try it again last night. It would not display the Japanese characters correctly. The only thing that has changed since I last played it, was that I reformated the hard drive recently and before the reformatting, I was using Windows XP Pro and now, after the reformatting I am using Windows XP Home.

A colleague at work told me to download this http://www.microsoft.com/globaldev/tools/apploc.mspx

and it should work. Anyone ever hear of this or have had a similar problem such as this?

thanks

Do you have the east asian fonts installed? Control panel, regional and language options, languages tab (check both boxes, you may need to provide the XP CD).

From reading the doc on the page you linked, it appears the programs allows you to set language on a single program. Worth a try if you only want to set that game to japanese.
