Microsoft Wireless Mouse and Keyboard

Q: Microsoft Wireless Mouse and Keyboard

Does anyone else here use a wireless keyboard and mouse? My mouse died a couple days ago, so I was going to purchase a new wireless one. Well Bestbuy was sold out of every single wireless mouse except for the $90 ones. I looked over and saw this really nice looking Microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse for only $60. I said, heck with it. I bought it, and I love it. Just thought I'd share my experience with you all. I bought the Microsoft "Basic Wireless Optical Desktop"

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I just ran my Microsoft Windows Update a couple of days ago which included Microsoft - Keyboard - Microsoft USB Dual Receiver Wireless Keyboard (Mouse and Keyboard Center). I think this is the culprit causing my problems. Now both my mousepad on my laptop and my mouse are active at the same time and I am unable to uninstall or turn off the mousepad. I've tried uninstall two different ways and neither worked after restarting and shutting down as per instructions. It is driving me crazy because it is extremely hard to type as the cursor will jump on the page and insert my typed letters into the wrong place. I have to get it uninstalled! Typing this is a nightmare and I am not dragging my thumbs on the pad or touching it in anyway. Any suggestions?

I had to replace my keyboard after 3 1/2 yrs since the keys were sticking and the letters worn off. I bought the Microsoft Wireless Laser 6000 Mouse with the wireless keyboard. It works great with one problem. If I enable "allow this device to bring computer out of Standby" for either the mouse or the keyboard, the computer never goes into a full standby. The fan is always running and so are some other parts of the computer. If I dont configure the mouse or keyboard that way, the computer will go into regular and complete standby but will need to be turned on with the power button to bring it out of standby. The Receiver is USB so Im thinking the reason the computer doesnt completly power down is due to the receiver needing to be active. Is there a work around or do I just stick with using the power button?

A:Solved: Microsoft Wireless keyboard and Mouse

Nope, real easy. I have a Logitech set, and all it took was plugging it in to a USB port (mine has a 'base station' for the wireless mouse which is also the receiver etc), and installing the drivers. Then once installed, press the 'connect' button on bottom of mouse and kb. Yours is probably very similar.

Thank you.

For your Logitech mouse DONT use the microsoft driver, just download and install the driver from the:
http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/su...oads/&cl=us,en
Advice:live some space between the resievers, especially if they are not a bluetooth is better to put them high for better signal. You can use a usb external cable.

Hi all,
Does anyone know why a Microsoft wireless mouse / keyboard combo. would cause a computer to be very slow booting up? By slow, I mean many, many minutes. I think the wireless receiver says it's version 2.1 This is a friends computer, and I don't have it in front of me right now. It is a newer computer, with XP so there isn't a problem with it being short on memory, or processor speed.
Thanks!

I am about to do a clean installation of Windows XP-Home Edition and am using a Microsoft wireless keyboard and wireless optical mouse. Until now, the receiver for these has been connected via USB, but having read other posts surrounding this subject, I have now connected via PS2 and everything is working OK.

I think that I should now be able to complete the installation without any trouble from the keyboard or mouse and that Windows will "recognise" them in the same way as wired items.

Am I correct here, or would the recommendation be to go down the "wired" route until the installation is complete ?

Lately I have been having an annoying problem with my wireless mouse. For some reason the pointer will lag, and be very sluggish and jumpy. I've had this mouse on this computer for about a year and I've had no problem. Out of nowhere this problem is happening. I've tried re installing drivers with no luck. I tried uninstalling intellipoint and re-installing it, but when I tried I got the BSOD, and then it completely disabled my mouse and keyboard so I had to use wired peripherals to go in to safe mode and do a system restore. Now everything is working again, except my mouse is still jumpy.

Thanks for any help.

A:Annoying mouse lag - Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 3500

Erratic behaviour from wireless peripherals, especially keyboards and/or mice, particularly where they were working correctly before, generally points to a dying battery in the peripheral. Have you tried replacing it? If it is rechargeable, it may no longer be holding charge and will also need replacing.

Have you run Windows Updates and see if it offers a new driver.
The keyboard is very old. Just might be time for a new one. You could also go to Device Manager and select update driver for the keyboard.

I have 6 or 7 old keyboards. Also gave a few away. I have never wore one out. Just kept buying them looking for one I really liked.

Hi!

I have come upon a problem wherein my Microsoft Wireless MultiMedia Keyboard 1.1 (P/N
X801524-100) will not type (or for that matter, continue to register a button press) while I am moving any mouse. Note that the mouse need not be the Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse 2000 (P/N X806939-007) that came with it.

The same issue does not occur with the manufacturer-supplied PS/2 keyboard when used in conjunction with any of my mice.

The issue occurs on Windows Server 2008 R2 (obtained from DreamSpark), with IntelliType and IntelliPoint software/driver suits installed, and on Windows Vista, where the mouse/keyboard are merely recognized as HID-compliant mouse/keyboard.

This issue is driving me crazy, as I can not play any of my games (obviously) as they often require me to move my mouse and keyboard at the same time.

Thanks in advance for any help - if you need additional information, ask and I will add it.

My first thread so please be patient with me.

I have a problem with my mouse that freezes.
It mainly happens if I switch the computer power off from the socket in the wall or there is a power cut. If I switch on my computer and press any key my mouse freezes. The only way out of this is to again reboot and then delete Microsoft intellitype Pro5.2 and Intellipiont 5.2 from my computer and then again reboot.
If at a later time I get the same problem I then reboot and reload the two micosoft problems.
This problem can sometimes happen without the loss of power.

Baldrickk

A:Microsoft Keyboard & Mouse Problem

Generally you should use the power button on the computer to shut down
The power button signals the motherboard that it is ready to shut down and Windows begins a series of steps to ensure that it is done correctly.
I will do things like save anything that is open.
If it doesnt know where to save something it will ask you.
It also take anything in its own memory and assure that it is safely on the HDD.

Just turning it off at the wall is the same as a power outage and important data could be lost.
I cant say for certain that this is your issue but it is possible that the driver settings arent being fully saved due to improper shut down and thus causing an issue.

On a side note I use a intellipoint mouse and never load the software for it.
When Windows starts it creates the mouse driver and works fine.

Im not certain what the intellitype software does exactly but I am using a MS keyboard with no additional software.
Perhaps your keyboard has extra keys or multimedia buttons on it but if not try to not use any software and see how it goes.

Over the years I have found that it is best to let windows decide what is best for it and not load any extra programs or drivers unless necessary.

Has  anyone installed the Microsoft keyboard and mouse drivers today?  I have Win 8.1  after starting up the computer today, I see I have one new security update, and two optional.  Neither the keyboard, or either of my two mice are Microsoft.  I am not sure whether to install them or not.  The security update keeps saying preparing to install, but it is taking much much longer than normal to install.  I decided to do it first, then ask about these other two.  I don't want to mess up my keyboard and mouse with an update not meant for their brand.  Thoughts please?

A:Microsoft keyboard and mouse driver updates today

The drivers are not specifically for a Microsoft mouse, it's aimed at a HID - compliant mouse.

A mouse is a plug and play device, unless it is a specialized gaming mouse you shouldn't need anything other than the native Windows driver in the operating system.  That is what the updated drivers for the mouse are.

Unfortunately, this won't be a question we can answer. Keyboards and mice are highly user specific. What I like, and think is cost effective, will be very different from your tastes. My favorite combo used to be the Logitech MX5500 Revolution.

However, I have since replaced the mouse with a G9 (corded) and the keyboard with a Logitech Wave cordless. (The Wave Cordless is also a wireless mouse/keyboard combo, but I hate the mouse.)

A:Wireless Keyboard/Mouse

Devilz,
I've owned 4 wireless keyboard mice combo's from Microsoft and now only Logitech. I find then very good with the exception of the battery/charging issues. These combo's are great until you have interference issue or run low on battery charge. Then they start to act up. I've switched back to a usb wired keyboard and I couldn't be happier this illuminated keyboard is also available wireless and all I can say is my typing skills and accuracy has improve at least 3-4 fold. Buy this keyboard and don't look back you will thank me and rave to friends the bonus of the adjustable glow of it's keys at night in a darkened room is just icing on the cake as is said! Just about to upgrade from vista to 7. The upgrade advisor says I need new drivers for my keyboard an mouse (both wireless MS 5000) Question is should I install the new drivers before or after running the upgrade. If after is the answer, how will the mouse/keyboard work to allow me to put in the new drivers?
Thanks

I have the Microsoft Wireless Mouse (5000) & Comfort Keyboard (5000) . The USB receiver is currently in the side of the tower, less than a foot from the keyboard and mouse. Sometimes the mouse and keyboard will become very laggy, making it near impossible to use them. After a restart of Windows they tend to be ok until the next seemingly random time they act up again. I cannot correlate anything to cause this. It is happening now and this request has taken me over 5 minutes to type out.

Any ideas?

Windows 8.1 Pro (also happened on Windows 7)
Gaming PC, so RAM, SSD/HDD, processor, etc are all way above average
All drivers appear to be up to date
Router for wired/wireless internet is also nearby on desk - not sure if that matters

A:Wireless mouse and keyboard sometimes lag

Multiple processes can cause that. Especially if you are doing CPU intense programs that are causing the lag.

In order to use this thing I have to uninstall my old drivers for both before plugging the new ones in in. Fine, no problem however signing into XP is a big problem without my mouse and keyboard. You have to sign the wireless mouse and keyboard in seperately and then reboot each time.
How in the world do you do this. You kinda need a mouse and keyboard to sign on..
Thanks, Jac

A:GE wireless mouse and keyboard

Is the older keyboard and mouse a standard PS/2 or USB?

1) Uninstall all drivers, do not reboot
2) Install new keyboard and mouse and drivers
3) reboot

NOTE: you can use hardware wizard to detect new hw.

I have had great difficulty trying to get a wireless keyboard and mouse to work. The computer has had windows installed fresh. A ps2 mouse and keyboard will work fine. I installed the device and got a code 10 error. I uninstalled it and got it to install correctly. The keyboard will type but repeats keys like crazy. The mouse will work very sporadically. I had this same problem with two microsoft desktop sets and one logitech. I tried different ports both in the front and in the back to no avail. I uninstalled usb root hub and reinstalled it by right clicking and scanning for new hardware. The usb root hub installed correctly. I have no exclamation points in device manager. I am beginning to think there is some usb issue. A thumb drive installed properly though. Please help with any ideas. Really need to solve this one.

Hey guys Yet another thread by me I ve got a wireless desktop set Logitech MK The keyboard and lag mouse keyboard and Wireless the mouse work just fine until I go play Wireless mouse and keyboard lag a game Every few minutes my connection between the USB and the mouse or keyboard or sometimes both at the same time gets cut off lagged What the strange thing is that after cca seconds when it s back Wireless mouse and keyboard lag to normal it does all the actions responds to my typing that I ve done in that mid-connection drop I m wondering if this is either a connection issue or a software issue This only happnes when I play online games and at higher settings tried low too but it s still the same Any suggestions on what this might all be about And what can I do about it if at all I am really not willing to plug my old wired set back in and I really like to relax from time to time to play a game or two Regards YerOldPoison PS I am playing about a meter away from the USB receiver Tho it still usually responds even at meters away from the receiver nbsp

A:Wireless mouse and keyboard lag

I am expereincing the same issues using the Logitec MK 250 keyboard (i have the mouse too but have not expereinced any lag with it ) the keyboard however will lag intermitently, for what feals like 30 seconds at a time or more. Then run a number of the comands i gave it once it comes back to life.

This only happens when i'm playing call of duty (the only game i have instaled thusfar) The issue only ocures to the keyboard (ie no game lag as i am typicly getting shot up or exploded as my keyboard is failing me ) It also does not appear to have anything to do with the intesity of the graphic rendering at that moment or anything ells that is going on in the game.

this is a brand new comp with nearly nothing instaled on it other than the games and antivirus:

Win 7 64bit
Intel i7 870 @2.93ghz
gigabite motherboard
4gb 1600mhz Ram
ATI Radion 5700 w/ 1gb

If anyone can help us locate this issue i would like to know if this keyboard is a peace of junk or if there is somthing ells going on here.

P.s. I am also sitting less than 1m away from the comp and have moved the keyboard receiver to a direct lign of sight... the issue presists.

Not sure if I'm in the right dept.
I was given a wireless KB & mouse and I'm trying to find out if I can use it on Vista. The name of it is Eagle Touch multimedia pro XP. Obviously the XP part jumped out at me, I would like to know if it's compatible with Vista? My computer, Dell Inspiron 531 is almost a year old, I'm not very knowledgable. Any help??

A:Looking for help with wireless keyboard and mouse

I would say Vista will install generic drivers for it and it will work but, if you want to make sure, why don't you go to the manufacturers website and see if they offer Vista drivers as well?

Besides, since you already have them, might as well try them out and see if they work well enough to use.

Another thing is, there may not be any changes between XP x32 & Vista x32 drivers... but I could be wrong.

I am looking for a wireless keyboard and mouse that will go about 30 feet and control a PC in the office on the other side of a wall. Is there anything that will do this?? The 30 feet shouldn't be a problem but I don't know how much the wall will stop the signal. We have an office that is next to our conference room and there is a 2x4 drywall wall between them. There is a 50" plasma in the conference room that the PC in the office controls. We want to be able to control the PC from the conference room to display presentations and training on the plasma. Currently we have to go into the office to start or change the presentations.

Any advice is appreciated.

What do I have to do to activate them. The Dongle has Dell printed on it so I assume it must relate to the pc keyboard and mouse which are all Dell.

I'm going to buy a USB KVM switch and I was wondering if it'll work with my wireless keyboard and mouse set up (Logitech Cordless MX Duo) since it has only one USB cable and one PS/2 mouse cable? Or will I have to buy a new wireless keyboard and mouse set that has two USB cables for it to be compatible with a USB KVM switch?

A:USB KVM + wireless keyboard and mouse?

Seems to me that the KVM would just be a USB passthrough or HUB type system
and should recognize the the hardware as attached usb devices.
Only thing you might have to do is make sure you are switched to the computer
that you are booting up.
That way you wont get hung up on built in keyboard mouse emulation.
The PS2 mouse may be a problem,as it probably wont be properly detected
as a USB device.

Im thinking of getting a wireless keyboard and mouse, there is just one thing i would like to know.

Does your PC have to have blue tooth or some sort of wireless thing for it to receive what you type.

Or do they come with something that makes it receive what u type

A:Wireless Keyboard and Mouse

Most have a USB receiver. Checkout Logitech or Microsoft.
I have Logitech G7 wireless laser mouse and a keyboard.
I think they are RF and not the freq. bluetooth is.

I do believe they have them using bluetooth. Maybe someone else can chime in here.

I really like my G7 mouse because you never need to buy batteries.
It comes with 2 lithium ion batteries that recharge in the receiver by the USB power. In the past I used to buy AA batteries alot.

A:Wireless Keyboard and Mouse Installation

Assuming you have checked that all the cables are correctly seated (i'm not sure if that kit requires independent power; my logitech wireless kit has a power cable running from the USB port to a power supply), it could just be a sync problem with the first time it has been used. The keyboard should have a connect button on the receiver and a chanel button on the bottom of the keyboard, press them both in that order. Same again for the mouse.

There are some general diagnostic procedures here if this fails.

That missing dongle can be found at codemicro.com as part number RG-0638 and the cost is high, $39.95 freight paid. You can also purchasea Mouse/Dongle combo for about $5.00 more. Be sure to check the part number on you mouse if you want the same combo as you had.Good luck. Mine died but, I refuse to pay $40 bucks for a $2 dollar item that HP should have in stock. A:Turning off a wireless keyboard and mouse

Hi
I have a Logitech MK 250 Wireless desktop. (KB & Mouse) The USB transmitter is quite small and sits neatly in the rear of the case. It uses AA batteries in both devices, which do last quite a while. They can be switched off by small switches under each device, although I don't bother unless I am not using the PC for some time.

The only problem I can see is if you are a hard core Gamer (I am not, just a dabbler) as they do tend to be slower for gamers (or so my grandsons tell me). But for most uses, I am very pleased with the kit, especially since I installed a TV Card in the PC. There are other manufacturers, but I have always been happy with Logitech stuff, it is well made. Check out this one:

Logitech UK - Wireless Combo MK260

?24.99, the successor to mine. There are others, in fact (EDIT) I read that there are more expensive ones there which would suit a Gamer. Hope this helps!

FURTHER EDIT: The MK 260 is available from Amazon @ ?17:98.

A:Wireless keyboard/mouse and gaming...

My advice, get one with a rechargeable mouse, there is nothing worse than your mouse not working because the batteries have died, other than that, I doubt you'll notice a difference between wired and wireless as long as you have the only set in the house.

It got to be where I was buying a new package of batteries about every 2 weeks.
CopperTop batteries are not cheap.

I am running Windows XP, and I am going to change my keyboard and mouse to Wireless. Someone gave me NexxTech keyboard and mouse. When I try to install the CD, they asked if I am running 98 or 2000. What do I do, download a Driver to get the version XP or what?
Anther thing is, should I unstall my old mouse first? Or what do I do?

A:NexxTech Wireless Mouse and keyboard

Have a look to see if they have anything available for XP here...............

There is a chance the 2000 drivers will work.

If your current mouse is a PS/2 you shouldn't need to uninstall it.

I am currently running two computers in the house through a Motorola cable modem and a D-Link wireless router. I would like to add a wireless keyboard and mouse, but I am unsure if I can due to possible frequency problems. Can I have a number of wireless peripherals set up on my computer or will I experience problems? Ultimately, what I would like to do is to run the wireless router and receiver and to have a wireless keyboard and mouse on both computers. Is this possible?

You probably need the correct driver that should have been supplied on cd with the equipment.

Hello,I'm attempting to install a Microsoft wireless multimedia keyboard and a wireless optical mouse. I get as far as choosing which keyboard and mouse model I'm installing and it starts loading. However, it stops about half-way done and I get this message:"Setup cannot continue because either there is insufficient free hard disk space or an unexpected error has occurred. Please free the necessary disk space and run setup again. For system requirements, refer to the product packaging."Well, I've done that; and my computer meets the specs.I purchased the items from Dell; but they will not take them back; and I was informed that I have to sign a "software warranty" for them to help me. Can you believe it? I won't be dealing with them any more. Any suggestions? Thanks so much for your time. Pearlgem

Hello, I have a MS Wireless Comfort Keyboard and Mouse 6000 and have the Intellipoint and Intellitype 6.1 software for them. The keyboard and mouse lately have been acting squirrelly, for instance, when I hold down 'w' in a game to move forward, it will stop and I have to release and repress. The mouse is also acting a little jumpy. It felt like the batteries were running low so I checked the two programs above to look at the battery indicators and surprisingly, they were both 'good' and fully green. I have had those batteries installed for at least 3 months. I changed the batteries anyways to see if it made a difference. They didn't. In fact, when I took out the batteries altogether, they battery indicator still read full. Has anyone heard of the program not updating itself? The issue is new and yes, I have played the game for months now without the issue. Thanks guys!!

I have a desktop that has a Siemen Fujitsu wireless mouse and keyboard.

Recently we had a power failure.

In order to start the computer it needs a keyboard input.

But – the drivers are not loaded for it to accept the commands of a wireless keyboard.

Plugging in an ordinary keyboard doesn’t seem to help either.

Now what?

A:Wireless Mouse and Keyboard troubles

Plugging in a normal keyboard should work (are you sure that keyboard works on another machine)? If not, it could be a problem with the motherboard after the power failure....are you running a surge protector by chance? What happens when you attempt to start the computer? Any activity? Anything on the screen? Do you have a bios password set?

I try to put the connector to other pc and it work well, only cant work with my laptop

A:Wireless mouse and keyboard cant function!

Go to the manufacturer's web site for updated mouse/ kb drivers, if applicable. USB PnP should work regardless.

Make sure your laptop's mousepad drivers are updated.

My wireless mouse and keyboard no longer work. The mouse stoped working six mounths ago, and the keyboard a few days ago. I put in new batteries and read a couple of post on this forum. There are 5 listings under keyboards and thay all show to be working properly. There are 3 mouse and all show to be working properly. Any suggestions please. I am running vista 32 bite.

A:Wireless Mouse & Keyboard problems

Hello Dterry,

See if uninstalling all of the extra keyboard and mouse devices listed, then reinstall the drivers for your current keyboard and mouse may help. You should only have one device listed for each one if those are the only ones you are using.

Uninstall Device and Device Driver

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Hello I just recently bought a new HTPC server and installed Windows on it Everything seems to work great except my USB mouse and keyboard The range of these wireless devices dropped to just about one meter They work further away if I lift them high in the air but from waist level they only work from very close ranges Before they used to work perfectly from distances up to meters What's odd is that the USB recievers are in the exact same spots as they & wireless Bad range keyboard mouse were in my old computer I have an Bad wireless mouse & keyboard range extender cable and a hub so there are no obstacles between the recievers and the devices I'm not sure whether this is because of Win or because of the new hardware My previous computer was a laptop running Win but the new one is a desktop The devices seemed to work bad even in BIOS so I suspect it's the hardware I have installed latest drivers replaced batteries and tried different positions for the recievers but nothing seems Bad wireless mouse & keyboard range to fix this issue I have not added any new wireless devices in the household Does anyone have any idea what to try next Keyboard Microsoft Wireless Keyboard v Mouse Logitech M Wireless Mouse System Intel i GB DDR Asus H I PLUS M-ITX W Windows x Previous system Intel i M GB DDR Dell Vostro laptop motherboard Bad wireless mouse & keyboard range Windows x

A:Bad wireless mouse & keyboard range

I changed the location of the Microsoft receiver and the keyboard is working wonderfully now. Unfortunately M505 mouse still doesn't seem to work so I had to switch to the Microsoft Mobile Mouse 5000 that uses the same receiver as the keyboard.

Logitech lists M505 as Win8 comptaible but it's not working properly. Logitech SetPoint correctly indentified it but it didn't appear in the My Mouses lists. That means I'm unable to configure the mouse buttons in any way.

I really want to get the M505 working because it's far better than the Microsoft 5000 mouse.

I have a logitech wave keyboard that is not being reconginzed on boot up. I recieve the error " Cannot locate keyboard or mouse", something to that effect (at work right now, can't remember exactly), so anyway, it hangs,...I plug in a wired board and it boots no problem. Then Logitech wave and Perormance MX mouse work great.
The were purchased separately and run off two separate usb receivers ( haven't been able to unify them in Logitech software yet, but I don't think that's the issue. Drives are current and updated. It should still recognize the keyboard thru the USB card on boot up...So what am I missing???
Thanks in advance for your response...

I have just bought a new system (box only) which is running a Gigabyte Ultra Durable motherboard, 240GB SSD, with Windows 8.1 64 bit. I am attempting to use Dell wireless keyboard and mouse which were part of my previous Dell Studio Hybrid which had the keyboard and mouse drivers pre-installed. The new system will not recognise either the mouse or keyboard, I presume because the new system does not have the relevant drivers. I cannot get past the 1st (rainbow) screen, and would appreciate advice as to how I can access the system.

A:Wireless keyboard and mouse not recognised

Go to the Dell site, put in the model of your mouse and keyboard (there should be a tag on the bottom with either the product # or the model #) and see if Dell provides Win 8 drivers.

Many people experience this type of problem. A lot of it has to do with electrical interference and/or radio and TV. The electrical lines in the wall messed up mine. You might first try making sure that there are no electrical cords, radio, TV near by. If that doesn't work try moving the computer to a different location and farther away from the monitor.

Hi Guys!

I just brought a Logitech Combo of Wireless Keyboard Mouse and installed the same. The problem is that even if I switch off the Computer, the lazer in the mouse is on. This means that the mouse is always active and the same must be happening with the Keyboard also. Now, this would drain off the batteries very soon. Is there a way to switch off the Mouse and Keyboard when not in use.

Please dont say to take off the batteries as this would be the dumbest idea. BTW, how long will my battery last if my computer is on all 24 hrs.

Thank you.

A:Wireless Keyboard Mouse Problem?

Chances are very good that it shuts down automatically after some period of time and re-activates when you touch it. That battery will last quite a while. But I need to replace my mouse battery fairly often (which is why I use rechargeables) but the kb battery has lasted more than a year.
