Memory Problems?

Q: Memory Problems?

Hello all...I'm having problems with my Dell PC. I just purchased a sweet new scanner (ScanSnap SV600) and when I scan a lot of pages at once, I get an error message saying I'm out of storage and to restart the computer. The specific code given is 0x8007000E. I've also been noticing when I run a few web tabs at once, sometimes they just go black and I need to restart the browser. It has 8GB of RAM and all the drivers are updated. Anything I'm missing? Thank you kindly!

Preferred Solution: Memory Problems?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Memory Problems?

How much storage space do you have? From what I could research this error is tied to programs demanding a great deal of memory. You say this occurs when trying to scan a lot of pages at once. Does this occur when scanning less material at once? Have you tried updating your drivers for the scanner?

Hi Everyone from,
I am facing some issues with my laptop.
I always noticed my CPU, Memory, Physical Memory usage are running quite high.
Wonder is it normal for my computer?
I always feel the temperature is quite high and my fan keep running fast all the time even with just running some lite program. Sometimes my computer also turned to Blue Screen.
Please find the attachments to see my Task Manager.

I ran Windows Memory Diagnostics multiple times (1GB Ram = 2X512), sometimes it reposrts errors, and sometimes not!

I'm running two OS: Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 64Bit, where I'm encountering bad performance, and Windows 7 32Bit which runs smoothly.

I'm not sure if it's really a memory damage or something else. I upgraded lately my CPU from Intel Pentium 4 506 to Intel Core 2 Duo 7500 (compatible with my mobo), when the BSOD appeared again and again.

Thanks in advance!

A:Windows Memory Diagnostic Reports Memory Problems

Hello TheHero2012, welcome to SF!

For better mem testing use:
Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program.

Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.
Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

Sorry, should have read better. W7 64B will not run on just 1Gb of RAM.
If it runs ok on the 32B then there is prob nothing wrong with the ram itself.

I have an Asus P4B Motherboard. I had three 128 sticks non-ECC placed in the three slots. System worked fine. Once I replaced the sticks with three 512 ECC sticks the computer failed to start. However, I was able to enter CMOS to change the configuration from NON-ECC to ECC. Still not reading to get pass "Start at last known configurations". Is there something else I should be doing. By the way this is an old board the RAM is SDRAM 168 pin PC133 DIMM ECC. Each slot suppose to hold 1GB. When I replace the slots with the old memory the computer works fine.

Thanks for the help in advance.

I believe I am having some memory problems but do not know how to check if they are actually memory problems I recently downloaded a game demo which was GB however when I tried to run it took about minutes to load Possible memory problems Whilst making it impossible to do anything else on the computer as the loading process took up all of the computer resources When installing the demo the installation came up with a CRC error however after I bit of research on the Internet I found that others who had this problem put it down to memory problems I choose to ignore this error the and the demo finished installing without any other problems However when running the demo and attempting to play a game it crashes back to the desktop with a error message exlaiming that the laptop is quot out of memory quot How do I test the memory and ensure that there is no errors Thanks nbsp

A:Memory problems...?

Someone with more experience should chime in, but what I would personally do is backup all the files you need and reload the system with a clean install. Before you do this make sure you can reinstall all your applications and such.

This sounds drastic, but if it solves the problem it will save you hours of troubleshooting and you will have a computer that runs "smoother". My laptop see's a clean install every six months, but I have everything I need on my desktop so I am not worried about losing anything.

It could also be the hardware. Someone else should probably help with that.

I normally turn on a movie or something while I reload the system. Not a big deal to me, but it might seem like it to others.

If you dont feel comfortable with this or if someone comes on here and tells you not to do this, you should probably listen to them. Also you might want to wait to find out if someone has a really simple fix.

Hope this helps.

Is the 256MB in one stick, or more? If more, try switching them in the DIMM's. Try installing them one at a time.

It gave ne notices that other programs were writing to this drive and closing any running programs would help it finish quicker only I wasn't running any other programs. Also Disc defragmenter took 1hr. 45 min. to complete. I'm am getting "Not enough memory" notations so I deleted a few unnecessary programs and that is why I was running disc defragmenter. Scan Disc just keeps starting over constantly. Is there anyone who can help? I generally know nothing about computers but follow directions well.

A:Memory Problems, Can Anyone Help?

I don't know what to say. You have a system that works with the default setting but doesn't work when you overclock it. Not a whole lot to say about that. The ability to overclock any computer part isn't guaranteed by manufacturers 99% of the time so if your computer doesn't overclock then it's really not a problem per se.

Overclocking stresses computer parts and in the course of 4 months you may have put parts of your computer through a lot of heat stress and can no longer overclock as well as it use to. I'm not a huge advocate of overclocking however since it's pointing to the RAM as the culprit, I would try to replace the RAM or at least use less aggressive timing on the RAM. The RAM was only rated for DDR 800 and you may be using a pretty aggressive timing for 833. I would have bought higher speed rated quality RAM if I was trying to OC.

I had 4x 1GB DDR2 6400 chips. Just swapped out 2 of them for 2GB DDR2 6400 chips. Task manager performance used to show 4 GB of memory, It now shows 3GB. I should have a total of 6GB now. I'm confused. Think I did the install right according to the board manual. Positions are:

Channel A DIMM 0 = 1MB
Channel A DIMM 1 = 2MB
Channel B DIMM 0 = 1MB
Channel B DIMM 1 = 2MB

These are placed on an Intel D975XBX2 Motherboard.

When I first booted after making the change, I got a message about the memory not being matched, and that it would lower my performance. No beeping though.

Any ideas what I might have done wrong?

A:Memory Problems

Sounds like you need to run memtest86 Memtest86 - Download Page Run it through around 5-8 passes 1 stick at a time in the suggested slot. This will tell you if you have any bad sticks.

Are they all the exact same Ram modules or mixed manufactures or just size? I ask because this is never a good idea to mix size much less manufactuers due to speed, timings and Voltages can be different and cause problems
CPU-z will also help with identifying each stick CPUID - System & hardware benchmark, monitoring, reporting.
Their might also be a setting in your bios you need to change to allow windows to read all the ram.
The error might be due to the fact that the Ram is not supported for your board and it has automatically defaulted the speeds on the ram. Check with the QVL on the boards site. (Qualified Vendors List.) for sticks recommended for your board.
This should get you started. Please post screen shots of each stick in cpuid so we can see under memory slots what is reported.
At the bottom of every post are also releated posts to yours you can read throguh it might save some time.Thanks.

I had taken out one of the memory cards to look at the brand (because I want to put more memory in), but when I put the memory card back in, I cannot operate the same programs as I could before I took it out. Hi and Welcome to TSF

Before attacking an adware/spyware problem with hijackthis make sure you have already run the following tools. Download and update the databases on each program before running. Ad-Aware? SE Personal Edition
*Note* For Ad-AwareSE also install the VX2 Addon Cleaner To run this tool once Adaware is updated click on Add-ons in the lefthand column. Select VX2 Cleaner V2.0 and click Run Tool. Click "OK" , then, if something is found, click "Clean" as in the directions given. Click "Close", and exit Ad-Aware.
Spybot Search & Destroy

Also make sure you are using the the latest version (1.99.1) of HijackThis and it's installed in it's own folder on the root drive. (C:\HJT)

Please go to at least two of these sites and run an online Virus Scan.
Be sure to have the AutoFix box(s) checked if the site has that option.

Once you complete those hijackthis, do a scan, save the log and post it in this thread.

The first several times I tried to boot, I got a BSOD. I got into safe mode and applied patch 929777. Then I could boot. Though it seems sometimes Vista would show 2.5G and sometimes it would show 4GB. I think I've got the boot issues down... but now things are unstable. WoW hangs somewhat frequently now (though it never did before).

My system: Q6600 on EVGA i680 w/ latest BIOS. 4x1GB Patriot PC-8500, 2x XFX 8600GT in SLI. Vista Home Prem x64.
Anyone have similar issues or have any ideas what I can do?

Have you done anything to try to fix the problem?

I can think of a ram stick that's NOT locked down properly in its slot, or,
a ram stick that's NOT in the right slot.
If you have multiple slots and this is DDR2 ram, then it must be plugged into the correct slots or it may not even be seen.
Did you add this ram yourself?
First off, make sure you're installing it in the proper slots and then take it out and re-install it, making sure that it's locked down tight.

Good Luck,

i recently built a new gaming rig, and i am quite happy about it.

i really expected it to be super-fast, and sometime's it's not... many time when i install a big game, the whole system is devoted for the installation and it's practically impossible to do anything else. moreover, the memory usage stays at about 90-95% for 110 minutes after the installation is finished.

maybe i didn't install something correctly?

I have a an Athlon XP based PC running Windows ME with
256M of DDR PC2100 memory. I wanted to upgrade my memory to 512M, so I purchased another 256M memory module.
When the new memory is installed, the PC shows the new
memory size on bootup but fails to load Windows.
It just shows error messages and keeps on rebooting.
I have read about a similar problem before that was due
to a power supply problem. My PC supplier says that my PC
has an AMD approved power supply. Any help would be appricated.

A:Memory Problems

Try running it with just the new stick of memory, and see what happens. If it doesn't work, then it looks like you may have to return it. If it does work, then there may be some sort of conflict between the 2 different memory types, or maybe that memory slot is bad/damaged.

I have a Dell Dimension 4500 computer that only has 128 mb of RAM installed and I wanted to upgrade it to at least 512. So, I went to the website and put in the computer info and it told me that I needed to purchase DDR PC2100 memory. I went to a local dealer and got the memory, and when I installed it, the computer worked fine for a minute and then it started freezing up. I went back and switched the memory around every way I could think of and finally, I just took the old memory out and kept the memory I had just purchased in. Nothing!!!! When I restarted the computer, the icons on the desktop wouldn't even come back up! Does anyone have any clues as to what I am doing wrong?????

By default, Windows uses 25% of the paged memory pool (virtual memory) as the maximum size for the registry. You can increase the size of the paging file, or change the default usage of the registry. Here's the MS-KB article that describes the process:;en-us;124594&Product=win2000

Scan your pc with one of these free online scanners:
Panda ActiveScan
RAV AntiVirus
Housecall. Be sure to put a check the box beside AutoClean.

Download / Install / Update / and Run:
Adaware SE check for any updates before running it.
Get the plug-in for fixing VX2 variants. You can download it at this SITE
To run this tool, install to the hard drive, then open Ad-aware->Add-ons and select VX2 Cleaner. Then click Run Tool and OK to start it. If it's clean, it will say Status System Clean. Otherwise, you will have to click on the Clean button to remove the VX2 infection.

Download and install Spybot S&D . Run Spybot and click on the 'Search for Updates' button. Install any updates that are available. Next click on the 'Check for Problems' button. Let it run the scan. If it finds something, check all those in RED and hit the Fix Selected Problems button. Exit Spybot. If you keep getting the DSO Exploit entries, even after you updated Windows and fixed them, then download the Spybot DSO Exploit Fix and install it over the current Spybot installation.

If our still having problems Download and install: HiJackThis.

(Always create a Folder for HiJackThis anywhere but your Temp/Temporary Internet Folders or Desktop. A good place to make a folder would be in My Documents, as this is where it will save the backup files needed if there's a problem.)

Then doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Do A System Scan And Save Log". Make sure all Windows and Browsers are closed.
When the scan is finished, best to save your text file in the same folder as where you put HiJackthis.

Create a New Topic and include a fresh HJT log in HiJackThisLog Help Forum and Copy/Paste the info from your saved Hijackthis log file into your new topic.

It would help if you could detail the process you went through.

But for starters, go to Control Panel > Folder Options. Under the View tab, look for the option to make hidden files and folders visible. Then look around to see if your files are still there somewhere.

If you can't locate the files, try using a program that shows disk usage to see where the space has been used.

Hi, guys. Here I am again!
Went to PCPitstop and ran the tests 3 times with nothing else running. Every time, it showed my memory running at 290 mb/s. Shows that it should be running at 600 mb/s. Tried all the tweaks they suggest, but no change.
Also, downloaded a trial program called MemTurbo. Nice prog. Ran it and it showed about 220mb free. Was able to restore it back to about 285 free, but see fast drop. ( I have 320MB installed) Near the bottom of the prog, it shows a memory load index (?) at 19%. I see posts from people running 64MB, so how am I losing 65MB so quick.
In ctrl+alt+del. I show Explorer, Internet explorer, AV, systray, and thats it. Msconfig startup is trimmed to bare minimum. Scandisk and defrag weekly. Use Windows Washer daily. Run AV and trojan checker every 3 days. Run Ad-Ware every other day. Am I missing something??

Once again, thanks for being here!!

A:Memory problems.

I'm going to move this to the hardware forum since this doesn't appear to be an OS issue.

You might want to check out Whitphil's comment on Memturbo in the other memory question in this forum.

I have one question for you; and one for the hardware gurus.

For you: is the memory configuration on your computer the original one that came with it or have some changes or upgrades been made?

For those knowing more than I: if someone installs pc133 ram on a motherboard that only supports 66mhz, would that produce the results obtained?

Some inexpensive brands of ram are not compatiable with other brands.

Also, try different configurations... try putting the 512 stick in the first slot... try it with just 1 256 stick, etc. etc.

Then bring it back and get the same brand you currently have.

The computer fans start up for a bit then switch off and then back on ad infinitum, not even a beep.
It does the same with any configuration of the 3 modules, or any one on its own.
So I'm back to one of the original cheap 2 gig DDR3 modules.

Is there an OS on it? also leave only 2 gigs in and see if you can get into BIOS. look for a max memory and if you have it make sure its unchecked. try it again

Every time I start windows the "Performance Options" dialog appear by itself but it wont commit any changes I make on it anyway. Currently it's set to "No Paging File"

I should note that me and my wife are using different user accounts on the system (as we did with no problems on the same machine with XP) but the above behavior occurs whether we both are logged in or just me.

Thanks for any advice,

Hello Oren, and welcome to Seven Forums.

The paging file will need to be turned back on, and set to be system managed to avoid this. Some apps will require the page file to run properly no matter how much RAM you have installed.

Could you please post the make and model of that laptop? Also, you've posted the disk usage for 'C' drive - are there any other drives on there? Often there's a another drive where docs, pics etc are stored.

Try installing one of the new RAM modules at a time. One then the other. Maybe one is defective or maybe they are just not compatible with your motherboard.

Hey, asked about this on another forum and nobody replied so I'm hoping someone here can help. I recently built a PC, just a week ago, and I've had numerous problems. Most recently the blue screen, which I first got while playing a game. Second and third time just having a few tabs open in my browser.
I have the minidump files here, from the first and second time:
I saw someone mention using memtest86, so I tried that and it froze at test #8. From that I read it's a RAM card issue, but the cards I have are new.

A:BSoD and Memory Problems

Some other things worth mentioning, my OS is Windows 7, the power supply is refurbished from Newegg, and the motherboard is used from Ebay (a mistake, I know). One of those numerous problems I have is my computer randomly shutting off while playing games. Most of what I read says that's a PSU-overheating problem, so I already have a new one on the way.

While using my computer my memory spikes from 20% to 90%+. I only have two applications open, Google Chrome and Adobe Acrobat reader. From the looks of things nothing in my processes is responsible for the spike although svchost.exe is using 115,554. I do not know what to do and my computer will become unresponsive when this happens.
I have Windows 7 SP1 x64 with 6.0 GB of RAM on an Asus U56E.

Hi. Ive just bought a new 512Mb memory card and installed it in my PC (in the second DIM slot - next to my original 512Mb). When I start the PC there is nothing on the screen and it just beeps (on and off). If tryed the new memory on its own in the PC and it seems to work fine.. it just won't work with the original card. Is there something Im missing? I read in another thread the PSU could be causing the problem.... any help would be much appreciated...???? Many thanks Paul

A:Problems adding new memory

your two ram sticks are incompatible, you should have checked before you got a second stick. you can use the diagnostic program called "cpu-z" to check out your machine's specs and the RAM information.

try booting the pc with one stick and entering the bios. increase the memory timing values, and try booting with both sticks installed. you might have to play around awhile, but you may be able to find a working configuration.

just remember to take precautions to aviod shorting out your system - unplug the box whne working on it, and protect yourself from static electricity buildup.

As soon as you turn on the PC, and log into your account try to launch task manager then. Switch to the Processes tab and sort by Memory where the highest number is on top. Let us know what the culprit is if you can please.
A quick way to access task manager is by pressing ctrl+shift+esc at the same time.

No matter how many programs I remove about an hr later i have no memory left!
I've tried scanning for viruses with AVAST and Super anti spyware and even though they removed a lot of virus' this problem persists.
I have run Combofix and have a Hijack this log but i am clueless as to what to do with this information..

Backdoor ThreatIMPORTANT NOTE: Unfortunatly One or more of the identified infections is a backdoor trojan. This allows hackers to remotely control your computer, steal critical system information and download and execute files.I would counsel you to disconnect this PC from the Internet immediately. If you do any banking or other financial transactions on the PC or if it should contain any other sensitive information, please get to a known clean computer and change all passwords where applicable, and it would be wise to contact those same financial institutions to apprise them of your situation.Though the trojan has been identified and can be killed, because of it's backdoor functionality, your PC is very likely compromised and there is no way to be sure your computer can ever again be trusted. Many experts in the security community believe that once infected with this type of trojan, the best course of action would be a reformat and reinstall of the OS. Please read these for more information:How Do I Handle Possible Identify Theft, Internet Fraud and CC Fraud? When Should I Format, How Should I ReinstallWe can still clean this machine but I can't guarantee that it will be 100% secure afterwards. If you cannot upgrade your ram you really, really shouldn't be running 64 bit. Its the absolute minimum and will get eaten for breakfast if you do any gaming.

Opera's fine, Utorrent is fine, but without ram anything that runs for any period of time is going to become laggy.

If I were you I would run 64 and upgrade the ram

While using publisher 2000 on a 1.2MB file, a message appears that due to low memory, publisher will now shut down and rename the file I'm using.
It then renames the file with a .TMP extension. It is still usable and can be renamed .PUB.
I'm running 2K and have checked the paging file size in the Virtual Memory(192MB). It has happened twice now.
Anyone had this problem before?

A:publisher memory problems

Is the file you are opening on a removable disk?
If it is you may get the following message:

Due to low memory or use of a floppy other than the one you started with, Publisher has had to rename your publication A:\FILENAME.TMP. To resume, close all programs including Publisher; then restart Publisher and open the file. You may rename the publication.

The problem results from the floppy being removed or not enough room to create a temp file.

Can you use registered memory on anything? or just the boards that require it? I know you can't use unregistered on a AMD FX board..... but can you use registered on a AMD 64 754 socket board?

Does Registered = Buffered
Does Unbuffered = UnRegistered? or are they different all together? Please help me out here... I'm planing a large purchase for a friend....`

A:Registered or Not Memory Problems!

best way to get the straight info is to go to use the drop down menu's, choose the correct type of motherboard and it will list all compatible memory modules.

Generally registered means buffered and vice versa, not sure if there are any exceptions to that though, too many different types of memory available now
